You're totally wrong. The cost in the old system of adding perks to your existing characters as you continue adding them grows with the number of characters you already own. If you own N characters in the old system it would have cost you 40 bloodwebs on the new character to unlock all the teachables then 9 *N more bloodwebs to get those three perks to level 3 on each of your other characters. (I'm assuming for the sake of simplicity that the new character gets to level 3 in their own teachable perks in those 40 levels.) So the total cost was 40 + 9N bloodwebs. But in the new system the worst case scenario is you get 150 total bloodwebs in the new character and that unlocks all three of their perks at level 3 on every character regardless of how many you own. So it's a hard cap of 150 webs, period, regardless of N.

Therefore, worst case, when that 40+9N is more than 150 you're saving bloodpoints which happens when you own 12 characters. Even if you assume someone was losing out on BBQ and Chili, the base amount of bloodpoints in the new system went up from 32k to 40k per match plus the new matchmaking system (once it's reactivated) also doubles the points as well if you play that side, so you're still looking at a worst case that isn't much worse than a 12 character set.

So... you know, maybe use your own brain before telling me to use mine? 🤷‍♂️

    So many ASSumptions...

You assume that survivor mains want to play many characters. A lot of people just have 1 main character and used to just get the new ones to 40 and then unlock the perks on the main. Not possible any more.

You assume that people can get 40k in a match enough times for it to matter. Not possible for many people in current solo queue.

You assume that people are interested to play the other side. If survivor main always plays after work in the evening, he is never getting that bonus. Not in my region at least.

If we remove all of those assumptions, there is nothing left...

And every 4v1 game I've played has a map that shows you what your teammates are doing, also have some sort of marking/tagging system basekit. But not this one. (Even in game chat but i dont use this usually as its not worth it mostly).

    True, unless it's hardcore mode.

Bye! I will be happy to play against people who are good at this game, even if I have to stand in the lobby longer

You won't have any game if people keep leaving. That's not how live service games work. If there is not enough people playing and spending money, support ends. I'm really surprised by the amount of people who have no idea how game development businesses function.

Look up another game that BHVR made: Deathgarden. See what happened to it?

  • I'm not "complaining" since this doesn't affect me personally. I'm just stating a fact. Your whole premise "it's not bad to be new because new will become old" makes no sense. Would you buy a car or a house that will become drivable/livable in 5 years? No. Because you can just buy another one that is immediately drivable/livable. DBD does not exist in a vacuum and there are plenty of other games that you can immediately enjoy as soon as you installed them and don't require suffering for possibly a few months for the promise of enjoyment at a later date because.... Because devs think that suffering is good for sales? no idea. That's not how entertainment goods work. If first half an hour of movie is bad, I turn it off and move on to another one. Why would I wait? Do you not put any value on your time?

New players aren’t “screwed completely”, they have the same cost reduction once they have multiple characters at Prestige 1. And the grind getting to that point isn’t nearly as bad as the grind later on in the old system.

New players eventually become veteran players and get the benefits.

"have the same cost reduction once they have multiple characters at Prestige 1" - lol, do you realize what you just wrote?

Translation: "New players aren't screwed when they become old players" Well, yeah, sure... New things are not new when they are old, lmao

I had a similar experience on here.

Someone from these forums added me, asked me if I like gay porn. #########

That's disgusting :[ Yeah, I had all kinds of inappropriate talks on that discord. People asked me where I live and how old I am. Someone was telling how he is abused in his family. Another one complaining about girlfrind that broke up with him. Just cringe. If joining that DBD Discord is required now to enjoy playing survivor, I'm out. I just want to play in peace and not be subjected to all that stuff I didn't ask about.

    Lmao ######### ? I am a real nurse…

By the way I am a nurse main too lol. And yes, I play to win and don’t care about the survivor rulebook. After thousand hours on my main, I well above it.

How do you do, fellow friendly and sociable Nurse?

"thousand hours on my main" - I see what you mean... it does sound like a job 🤣

  • @Murgleïs said:

Lmao, I am a nurse working at night so don’t start with "a lot of us have jobs". People of the discord server are very friendly. If you are unable to socialize, work on your behavior, starting by having less prejudices about people you don’t even know.

LOL, you playing Nurse at night is not a job. That was funny though :D I work as Nemesis at night, btw 😄

And if people are as "friendly" as you are, I'd rather not have that kind of "socialization".

    From your comment history:

"Not tunneling is not being a good position. I win the huge majority of my games as Nurse, I have had winstreaks for weeks tbh because I play nasty as hell. Hooking 4 different survivors on purpose instead of securing kills would be throwing some match."

Solo q matches against Cenobite have always been miserable, long before this match. Nothing new here.

They were miserable, but now it's a new level of misery. "Do I DC and wait 5 minutes or do I continue trying for 5 minutes to get my 8k points" level of misery. I mean, I think I'd rather watch youtube for 5 minutes. I don't think 8k points are worth it.

Well I don't want to play with some rage filled, empathetically devoid, screeching teenager. DBD has a Solo Q option for a reason. I bough the game because of it, and they should be providing at least a semi-decent experience-again- if they are offering it (which they do).

I guess you don't get that a lot of us have jobs, and families, and mortgages and can't spend all evening finding non-offensive team mates after we get our homework finished.

Yeah, I tried that discord server once. Had really bad experience. My last straw was when I joined lobby and 3 people started asking me if I'm gay. I kept saying that I just want to play the game and my sexuality shouldn't be any concern. So they kicked me for refusing to answer, because apparently it's okay to have gay only lobbies. So much for being inclusive. Imagine the outrage if someone made straight only lobby.

  • @Murgleïs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3075466#Comment_3075466

Sorry but DBD is a PVP game 1vs4. There is no solo mode for survivor. You are supposed to play as a team, like it or not, your randoms teamates are still your TEAMates. You are not really playing solo.

I don't know if you are just pretending or you really don't know...

So here is dictionary explanation what "solo queue" means:

Whenever a person queues for a game in a ranked online game such as League of Legends or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive alone (as opposed to playing with friends or friends of friends). People who do this typically run into the issue of having incompetent teammates or going up against a premade opposing team.

  • @Murgleïs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3075443#Comment_3075443

Because you can. Go check the official DBD discord server, it’s full of players waiting for you. You have no excuse.

Those are not "friends". They are random people just like solo, except on comms.

  • @Murgleïs said:

I don’t know either, you can get friends and play SWF any time. It’s a choice, playing with randoms provides randoms results.

My results are not random. They are consistently unenjoyable.

Yes, there are multiple solutions to solo problem.

    1. SWF (don't play solo)
    2. Killer (don't play solo)
    3. Uninstall (don't play solo)

But it's actually same solution. Don't play solo. But that's basically equivalent to treating sick by killing them. It can't hurt if they are dead.

    Yes, it's a new thing.

Dude they finally add hiding username or something? What’s that about? As in why does it say the character they were playing as

  • Is there a dev post somewhere telling that it's killswitched? Or is that your own guess?

  • Do you know what R in MMR stands for? In DBD, it's not what most people think. Scroll down for answer after attempting to guess.

    R stands for Random.

    Rip survivors?

More like rip bad survivors that dont wanna get better at the game, winning as survivor is not impossible,it just takes more skill now.

Winning killer always took skill, except camping, but survivors indirectly can help killers secure a win if they camp.

Still,I hope in the future they will adress camping next, its the next main problem with the game.

"dont wanna get better at the game" - People don't want to waste hundreds of hours before they can enjoy a videogame? LOL. Okay than :D

Solo is still fun and the changes haven't impacted my survivor experience.

    Overall 👍 devs

As killer main, I approve this message 🙏 The only solo survivors that escaped my matches today have done so through hatch. I had fun with easy chill matches 🙃

  • Out of about 20 killer games, I lost only 1 today 😜

As killer main, I approve this update. But I don't even want to think about doing survivor challenges tomorrow, when new rift comes out.

  • @RakimSockem said:

Wait, so the killer can see the survivor prestige levels in the lobby?

    Yes.

  • Why ask question in a bite title that you answer yourself:  "oh killer sided patch, solo queue is destroyed"

You do realize that whether kill rates are too high or too low is not up to devs to decide. If people disagree with devs, they leave.

Also, regardless kill rates, I don't know of any person who enjoys just sitting next to gen and occasionally pressing space bar and asked to have more of that "engaging" gameplay in each match.

I'll add to this. Since we're all being encouraged to prestige, it's by definition, no longer something prestigious. We're almost required to P3, in an unofficial sense, in order to reduce the grind. The ubiquitous nature of that mechanic therefore invalidates the "accomplishment"; ergo, it is not prestigious.

Exactly! If everyone has prestige, than no one has prestige!

  • @Lycidas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3060570#Comment_3060570

Exactly, both translated to P9 instead of applying the same catch up logic based on perk tiers that is applied to everyone else.

Noone will have their inventory deleted, but that has nothing to do with it. People who didn't prestige are gaining prestige levels based on perk tiers, preople who P1 or P2 are gaining prestige levels based on perk tiers, people who P3 can go ######### themselves and be capped at prestige 9. That doesn't really seem fair to me.

I'm assuming all characters are going to be either PX whatever level you were at, or PX level 1.

Agree. All this discourages me from even starting the game until this mess is sorted out. Otherwise, it just feels like I'm wasting BP. Good time to catch up with Steam back log of other games ;)

No destruction or surrender of anything in my eyes. At all. I didn’t sacrifice anything by prestiging.

but anyways. That’s not even the topic. (Otherwise we could talk about how people had to sacrifice getting the bloody cosmetics just because they didn’t prestige and.. well let’s not go there)

you are talking about how a reward for using the old prestige system should be somehow related to the definition of the word prestige. but that’s not what this reward should be about, it’s just a demand you made without any basis. You could have said you were disappointed that the prestige icons weren’t the reward as they have talked about those before - but otherwise this is a life-service game, changes have always been a thing here and should be expected. But in this case - nothing gets taken away from you. You do get a reward which you may not like but still.. it’s optional and you could even use it for bragging (streaming, showing screenshots on social media, maybe even on your platform account etc).

just be honest and say how it is: you think the reward wasn’t worth your personal effort and you wish it was something else that you also would like to be able to showcase eg on the end-match-screen. You don’t have to make up something about how the system is named ‚prestige‘ and therefor the reward has to be related to the definition.

"Otherwise we could talk about how people had to sacrifice getting the bloody cosmetics just because they didn’t prestige" - you can't sacrifice something you don't have.

"you are talking about how a reward for using the old prestige system should be somehow related to the definition of the word prestige. but that’s not what this reward should be about, it’s just a demand you made without any basis." - it's not a demand, it's a critique. Where do you see me demanding anything? Also, in first sentence you confirm that you understand my basis, but in the second you say that there is no basis.

"otherwise this is a life-service game, changes have always been a thing here and should be expected." - and this somehow makes it forbidden to critique?

"nothing gets taken away from you" - i already explained loss of value twice.

"streaming, showing screenshots on social media, maybe even on your platform account etc" - people should be forced to use inconvenient external tools to compensate for game deficiencies? That's like if your city stops providing public transportation and tells you it's not a problem because you can buy a car or walk.

"You don’t have to make up something " - I say what I want to say and how I want to say. Not sure why you think you get to control my speech.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059777#Comment_3059777

Nope. Not true, I actually loved the fact I had fewer perks which gave me reason to experiment with different perks and combos. I would say that was the opposite of sacrificing something..

"sacrifice" - destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else

Whether you like making sacrifices or not is your own personal choice. That is not the discussion here. But the fact that you had to surrender close to 300 perks for the sake of getting prestige fits the dictionary definition of word "sacrifice" perfectly. There is nothing in the definition that says you are not allowed to love making sacrifices.

an act of offering to a deity something precious; especially : the killing of a victim on an altar; something offered in sacrifice; destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else… See the full definition

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059763#Comment_3059763

But there are people that already didn’t sacrifice anything at all to get the bloody cosmetics with the old system. Like me for example. I just used up all items/addons etc and then prestiged just the same way it’s now…

and with your logic, you can argue that for some it’s actually more effort now with the new system as you need to reach p4-6 instead of p1-3

You sacrificed 150 webs worth of perks. And you had to play tougher matches for longer due to lack of perks after every reset.

As I said, there is no sacrifice now, so there is no extra effort now.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059738#Comment_3059738

It wasn’t a lot of effort though? You just won’t lose your stuff anymore but you still have to prestige and use pretty much double the BP to get them..

How much value you put on your effort is personal consideration. just like $100 to a millionaire is not same as to someone who barely has anything to eat.

There is no extra effort involved in getting bloody skins now and not even a choice not to get them. Whereas before, people had to make sacrifices. Of course something that everyone will eventually get is less valuable than something that only few had who made the tough choice.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059727#Comment_3059727

    How so?

nothing got taken away from us. We just got something that’s completely optional. That’s not a punishment and for some actually nice to have..

Bloody prestige skins are going to be more common now, thus devaluing them. It's absolutely a punishment to devalue something that took a lot of effort to get.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059484#Comment_3059484

    That autocorrect fail though.

well, WHY did you? They have explicitly stated that it won’t be something major as to not ‚punish‘ those that decided not to prestige…

So, instead they punished those who decided to prestige.

  • @itsHammyyy said:

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059404#Comment_3059404

It's related to the prestige only to acknowledge that you participated in the old prestige system.

It is not a part of the prestige system.

If it's not part of prestige system than I can get it without having to prestige? No? Than it is part of prestige system.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059239#Comment_3059239

But it doesn't? It's only tangentially related to the prestige system, it's a personal acknowledgement that you participated in the previous prestige system.

It - and any other reward they'd come up with - is just a little badge for you to show the dev's acknowledgement that you were playing and prestiging before the change. That's it, that's all this is meant to achieve, I'm flummoxed at how mad some people are managing to be about this.

The "acknowledgement" of prestige is only tangentially related to prestige? Does that make any sense to you? If it's only slightly related to prestige than what is it strongly related to?

Yes, it's "personal", which is exactly my point. "Personal prestige" is an oxymoron, like a "working vacation" or "instant classic".

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3059191#Comment_3059191

But the point of that gift is to show acknowledgement of effort, the definition of "prestige" is completely irrelevant here. It's not for that, it's just a little badge you get because you put in a lot of effort.

You are the only person who it's relevant to.

"You are the only person who it's relevant to." - refer to dictionary definition. If it's only shown to me, than it has nothing to do with prestige.

  • @jesterkind said:

I'm not sure what you mean-- your Prestige level is shown in the endgame screen, so people absolutely can see your ""achievement"" there?

I'm reffering to the new red scratch mark background, which is still hidden.

  • Do you know how to use search function? There are a million threads already attempting to justify camping and you don't have a unique take.

  • Upload video of your gameplay and I'm sure a bunch of people will give you advice how to improve.

  • You can thank the barely working SBMM for that. This is what you get when skills are poorly matched. And the fact that they decided to hide ranks and not show MMR is a clear indication that they gave up on ever fixing matchmaking.

  • You can't force someone to play if they don't want. It's just not possible. People will just AFK or even run at killer.

  • @Ricardo170373 said:

Im tired to be a clown for survivor on exit gate. I has 9 hook 2,2,2 and 1 dead and other 3? leave, i receive gg? nooo, just clik clik, ggez and tbag and whatever on the gate. Tunnel is the best strategy and soon, in 6.1.0 just camp, why i should they leave the hook? survivor will have 50 endurance status, so, just camp.

Do you get paid to win in DBD? No? Than why are you concentrating so much on kills instead of fun chases?

Click click at gates annoys you? Alt+Tab to Youtube as soon as gates are open.

ggez annoys you? Close your chat window, there is nothing of value to read there.

I have amazing strategy how to enjoy killer and it works very well for me. DO NOT TRY HARD. Just give it a try. I go ez on survivors and just enjoy chases. This puts me in lower rank than if I would try hard. And it gives me multiple advantages: 1. if anyone goes out of the way to annoy me, I can easily up the pressure. 2. Challenges are easier to do. 3. It's relaxing and I can have a beer while playing.

In summary: playing killer is as annoying as you willing to make it yourself. Remember: you are in control if you kjust stop try harding all the time.

  • Give up on solo queue. Devs repeatedly demonstrated that they don't care about solos, so it's time to move on. With all upcoming killer buffs, solo is about to get even more miserable.

  • Definition of what's toxic is not up to individual to decide. For example, if majority of people consider middle finger obscene gesture, than that is what it is. You can't say: "don't call showing middle finger obscene, it's just demonstrating one of my fingers". Feel free to define "toxic" as you please, but telling it to others is futile. You are not a dictionary authority and will never be one.

They just said that so I'm surprised when I get it

It's more like being told that it's not a car. So you imagine it could be something cheap like a bicycle or in the worst case a pair of used rollerblades. But all you get are socks that are so ugly that you put them right into trash. Geee. Thanks... NO

I can definitely say that once I saw the reward, it made me stop prestiging and stockpiling cakes instead. I was going to try and prestige my favorite killers for the reward, but decided to save their add ons instead because I am not super found of the cosmetic.

I personally think that even just a color change of it could help improve it. The gold/yellow color isn't super appealing. Someone said it looked like plague infection and now I can't unsee that.

I think it's a bummer that the reward is just the portraits. I was hoping it would be small like the portraits plus a iri shard/bp reward. I would have been happy with 100 iri shards for each prestige level I had. I could maybe get a free cosmetic for artist or something. I would have also been fine with a small bp reward for each prestige. It would allow me to finish prestiging all my killers for the perks.

I wasn't expecting a big reward, in fact, I predicted in my head for just profile cosmetic changes for characters. I just wished they gave us another pat on the back with bp/iri shards. I would have also taken a reward that increased the BP cap. Hopefully they change the portraits before release to make them a little more appealing, but at least I'll have an option to turn it off.

" Someone said it looked like plague infection and now I can't unsee that." - OMG! What have you done to me... Now I can't unsee it either and it's even worse than the pimples I saw before :(
