  • I dont agree with several of them.

  • Then it is cheating. I agree with you. What is your solution?

  • I would argue that cheating is predicated on intention. You intend to use streched resolution, as you are intend to lag switch. Do you intend to have a bad ping in a certain game?

And how would you balanced this increased visibility for stealth players to not just be found easier? You know, there are people who prefer to play the game by not just running in circles when not holding m1 at a gen.

  • I actually like the diversity of players you can´t beat with the standard tactic. And i am a stealthy player, yet doctor is not that hard imho.

A working implementation of match making.

There are people being carried the whole time by the bad matchmaking.

One group is not very good, but get carried by other survivors. If suddenly the other survivors are at your own skill level, they will complain about all the potatoes in their games, not even realizing that matchmaking is working.

The other group is the red rank survivors that often get matched against the low skill killer. Such pairing shouldn´t happen anymore, disableing the easy mode for some of those survivors.

So yes, i think they would still complain.

  • Projekt Firestart-Chapter

    Killer: The Creature

    Survivor: Jon Hawking

    Map: Prometheus

  • You are right, tunneling is not a skill. It´s a tactic. Good we could figure that out.

  • Its not the killers that complain, its the survivors that lose part of their team way to early.

While i had games where that were true, i think its more of a meme, because i played with plenty of potatoes on pc, and had amazing matches with console players.

  • I started playing killer for the same reason, to learn about their limitations. While i am not a good killer, i enjoy playing some of them, and others i don´t (even if they are powerful). Its a nice change of pace. I am still a solo survivor main, but my escape rate is about 70%, -5% after rank reset, +5% when you are back in red ranks and get decent teammates. Play killers you like, but also killers you have problems with, because you learn a lot of their limitations, and will have no trouble against the killers mono survivors claim are "uncounterable". Well, at least less trouble.

You will also learn how powerful survivors really are in the game, giving you more perspective and a little emphasis for both sides.

  • I dont have a problem with slugging. I got out the hatch soo many times while being slugged because the killer hooked the 3rd guy and could neither find me nor the hatch before i reached the hatch crawling. Better than dying on the hook.

  • Nice idea. It would also solve another problem: Potato survivors. You could replace them with a AI as well, and you would have finally a balanced game (at least skillwise, but it would show unbalanced mechanics and perks for sure), and never be angry with your fellow survivors again.

On the downside, the game might not experience much more growth, and dbd streamers are reduced to commentors.

  • Seperation and different balancing for swf and solo survivors.

  • I am actually trying it with hag and myc and a mori.

  • You think that challenge is toxic? Wait for the devour hope one...

  • After the swf nerf.

  • Well, the reason survivors can´t see the killer is that there are survvior perks (and items), that can counter certain killers power, or at least a big portion if it. You face the doctor? Bring calm spirit. Trapper? Smallgame. Hag? Urban evasion or a flashlight. A stealth killer? Chilling spine. Plague? Well, dont bring medkits, bring something else.

Killer don´t have perks that are designt to counter special items. They have franklins, but they have to get the survivor, and he has to not hidden his key or whatever. On an already depleted item, its next to useless.

  • Why on earth do you think the entity would be interested in him, assuming you want him as a survivor? A martial arts and marksman expert doesnt seem like the typical victim to me. Or do you want him as killer?

  • no, i dont stop struggeling. I take the points of wiggeling free. But i dont run away from the killer afterwards, i give him another try.

wired definitely, it's a lot more reliable. I wouldn't play online games on a wifi connection, the connection itself is rarely stable and can be affected by so many things.

I'm not near my router, so I've got around 25m of cable running between my pc & console and it works very well.

For a lot of games, wifi is fine, but real time based games like dbd, shooter or rts depend on the good connection, and wifi just doesn´t cut it.

This assumes that all swfs will win no matter what which isn't true. I play in a swf group that pretty damn good, and out of the 10 games we play a day, we'll maybe win 2 or 3 of them if we're lucky. While I'm sure this isn't the case for every swf, what this does highlight is that just because you're going up against a swf doesn't mean you automatically lose. Being able to avoid a swf would be equivalent to survivors being able to tell the game "Don't put me in lobbies with x killer."

What exactly do you consider a win? If all 4 escape? IF 3 escape? 2k 2e? Because if 2k 2e is a win, your team is not good at all, most of my solo matches end this way.

Also, while it is true that not every swf is a sweat squad, enough of them are. If something is unbalanced, it can be ignored as long as it doesn´t come up too often? Then ebony mori is fine, i encounter less killer hooktunneling with a mori of the first hook then i encounter ######### swfs, and i play solo survivor most of the time.

Frequenzy has no part in the question of balance.

I played for 4 hours to get 3/3. I don't need the incorrect wiki. I experienced my self.

You don't get iri with 9 hooks.

I had 10 hook merciless victories and the devout was gold. So please.

Take a look on page 1 and 2 and see the threads about this challenge.

Well, i did the challenge and 9 hooks were enough for me.

But you have to remember, there are things survivors can do that distract from your rating, for example if they heal up and stuff. If you let them heal up all the time, you might need more hooks, also if you get 9 hooks but all escape.

9 Hooks is a criteria, but its surly not the only one. But without at least 9 hooks you won´t get it.

  • One of the problems is there are lots of survivors who seem to be allergic to gens, because they are "unfun".

About the not healing: That depends on the situation. I had people who unhooked my, and insisted of healing me in that spot despite the fact that up to that point the killer always returned to the hook at once, and when he comes they bodyblocked me so they could stay at healthy while i go down again.

Yeah, thats a situation i won´t let you heal me either.

  • I tell people things like perks i run and similar stuff in the pregame chat, and half of them ignore it anyway. I dont see how that would be different in a communication wheel, especially if its not useable in a chase. But i could live with the option if you have to be near the survivor.

  • Usually, i don´t. Mainly, because i dont want spend the time searching for the last one. I hook the last guy, and then race the last for the hatch. Often i win, sometimes i don´t. But a 3k is a win just like a 4k to me, and the end phase after the slugging is really boring to me.

So you are fine with a killer not having counterplay. The best spirits will obliterate solos, and most of swfs. Only the swf tourny teams will beat a great spirit. Other than that the average spirit can be beat by gen rushing which is boring for survivors and killers.

Then killers complain about gen rushing and it's just a circle of complaints.

Well, the best spirits should not play vs a lot of solos, and most swf, but only vs the best. That´s what matchmaking is for.

And to your second point: So, if spirit has counterplay, she can still be beaten by gen rushing if the survivors decide to, and also in 1v1, like a lot of other killers that are only viable if you get a potato team on the other side.

Giving her counterplay makes it easier for survivors to beat her, but does nothing for spirit, aside from taking away her ability to end a chase fast enough to apply pressure to the gens.

  • No, i think since the map size is reduced, the number of pigeons per m² is increased, and so its just an increase in pigeons on your balcony, but not an increase in pigeons overall.

  • i know. And thats not good enough if you get paired against way more skilled players match after match after match.

The issue isn´t a new one.

  • Well, first of, for more than one survivor to escape they need to do gens. The more survivor want to escape with the key, the more gens, up to all 5 if all survivor want to take the hatch. I played games with a key where all but one survivor got killed before the 3. gen was done. And yeah, the last one escape sometimes, but you won anyway. Why are you being bothered that one escaped? It happens in almost every horror movie.

  • The question is do she need counterplay? I mean, she still doesn´t 4k every game, does she? in my solo games, it happens sometimes, but more often than not 2 players at least escape, and 2k 2e is the balance the devs wish for, isn´t it?

She is in no way oppressive, even if its harder against her to escape a chase (but its still possible), and looping is a dynamic that should be removed from the game anyway, as its the most boring aspect of the game.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1612585#Comment_1612585

Well keys are basically a free escape. For example, imagine you have two survivors left, there are three gens done. They can just find the hatch and dip out. Would you not feel robbed in that situation if you were the killer?

Mori's are similar in that a survivor's life can be cut in half when a killer simply one hooks mori's. Especially if they tunnel for it. Both need drastic changes or to be removed altogether.

So, how will you solve the problem with dcing survivors? Just end the game there? Because it doesn´t make sense to keep playing if someone dcs with no gens done. But a key gives you at least a fighting chance in an otherwise unfair matchup.

Sure, you can say survivors are a team, but acting this way vs solos just makes them to swf, and you don´t want that, because thats what breakes the game.

Also, if some killer steamrolls the survivors, it might have been an uneven matchup from the beginning.

Edit: i actually have no problems with keys, only with moris. Moris allow you to shift the gamebalance in the killers favor very early in the game (even if you just take one out), while keys just allow a team to not be completley crushed. Usually, if all 4 escape, they only needed to open the gates anyway. there can 3 ppl escape, but i see that very rarely. Usually its one or maybe two who escape with a key. And i personaly belive a 3k is fine, as it is a win, and in horror movies one usually escape. But then, i am a survivor main, even though i play both sides.

What i disagree is the notion that keys and mories balances each other out. I dont think so. In my opinion, keys balance tunneling and camping, since one survivor if taken out early, but the rest has to do less work to escape. Mories are balanced by swf, because getting rid of that OoO user early is crucial to a killer.

So i belive its not just a simple matter of nerfing or reworking those items, as they are mechanics that tie in with several other issues.

However, i think the change that should happens is making those actually rare in the bloodweb, not like at the moment. I think it is great to find a key in a chest (at least if you run plunderers for it, but even then you only get a key every 3-4 games, often when its not needed).

And while killers often say they cant find a mori during the match in a chest, survivors don´t have perks (yet) that allows them to open the hatch, while killers have several that allow a mori.

It wasn't an attack. Was pointing out typical behaviour. There's a difference.

Actually, not doing work related stuff at home (unless you work in a home office) is pretty normal, at least where i life. Do you point out when people breath? Thats typical behaviour for someone alive, too.

  • its only strong until survivors finally learn to cleanse dull totems too.

If there is nothing left to be transfered to, ruin goes and undying does nothing.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

Okay - so I experienced that today. Except it didn't include Franklins, and I was the one who "stole" the key.

    Story goes like this:

It was Wreckers Yard, Autohaven Wreckers. I spawned in, did a gen. Killer found me, killer left me. They found someone else while I'm doing a gen by the hill, caught them, hooked them. They hooked them next to me as I finished the gen. They didn't come to look for me for some reason. So, being that the hill was on the edge of the map, I walked the edge of the map toward the hook (which was also on the edge). When walking, I found a skeleton key on the ground. Obviously it was dropped there. So I yoinked it. Skip to the end, someone died, 3 of us were left, me and a David escaped with the key...Zarina died. Turns out she brought the key, and apparently tried to hide it.

I don't know if I consider that stealing, though.

I wouldn´t. You hide the key to prevent it from being destroyed by franklins.

  • Because i play a stealth character and need my perks. I dont like to extend the chase, i like to juke the killer and get away, while he spends time searching for me while i either heal up or do a gen/totem or whatever. Not everyone thinks the game does or should resolve around chases.

I run headon sometimes for the meme, if i play in an swf which is rarely the case. If i get a daily to be chased, i prefer lithe over the others, because you decide when it triggers and when not.

Psst stop letting people know your a killer main .... people will hate you .

Thats not a problem, because i am actually a survivor main, as i play 70%-90% of my games as survivor. However, i do play both sides, and that simply is my conclusion based on my experiences.

  • Because the game is still in favor of survivors.

  • Also, killer still tunnel and camp vs newley released survivors. So, its a tie?

  • because i play mostly solo survivor, and i often see this: Someone runs to the hook, get spotted by the killer, and still runs to the hook to unhook. Then it depends on the killer if he tunnels or not. But if not, its a save unhook, and he gets the points for the chase in addition for that, even though its a dumb move, while the player undetected by the killer gets less points overall.

I am sorry if i came of rude, but in this forum, a lot of survivors think there is only one way to play the game, and would like for force others to play just like that, and i am very tired of that.

  • I doubt something like this will ever come, because its onesided and very singleminded.

You just take into account things you like/think should be done, ignoring other playstyles.

Cleansing totems, even hex totems, are obviously nothing that contributes to the team, since you dont award points for that.

Keeping the killer occupied for minutes trough juking (therefore you are not constantly in a chase with him) him or playing hide-and-seek at the gen you are working at seems worthless too, no matter how long you occupie the killer.

But why do i get more points if i run to the hook with killer in tow than when i go there unseen?`Why are protection hits or taking over a chase for an already injured survivor not contribuiting to skill? What about the guy who disctracts and lures the camping killer away? Not contribuiting enough?

No, don´t waste your time doing one for killer, because this isn´t even partly thought through.

  • No, you are wrong, it only seems that way because you are new. If you get more experience, you will learn that matchmaking is broken for almost all of us.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I play both sides. And sorry, but "LOL" is completely correct for the statement "Killers have to play perfectly and Survivors can make dozens of mistakes". Because tthose go hand in hand with "Survivors are Potatoes in Red Ranks"...Yeah, what of those two statements now?

I am Rank 1 as Killer and I play nowhere near perfectly, and still manage to win most of my games. And if I can do that, the majority of Killer Mains should be able to do that.

But yeah, I know, Killer is very hard, blabla. Both sides are easy to play.

"And for some reason you keep missing the point over and over and over. Survivors are allowed to have synergy, while killers have cooldowns, special requirements and basically every resource available so that none of their perks synergise."

Killers also have synergies? I mean, look at the stacking of all the Slowdown Perks, as an example.

And Cooldowns - there is no Killer ability with Cooldown which does not justify it. MAYBE Clown, because he is so weak, but even Clown with unlimited Bottles might be too much. Besides that, comparing anything what Survivors have with Killer abilities is not really possible, IMO.

Like I said before, I play both sides and I am also not happy to see such an unsafe Unhook which results in an immunity-situation. But I would call this quite niche, because, as I said, you dont know how many tries were before this particular game.

And I am always against players "abusing" certain Perks (even tho, using DS and Unbreakable together would not be abuse, even if some Killers say it...), because those will eventually ruin those Perks for players who use them on a normal basis.

Oh, Oh, let me try it:

I play both sides. I am a Red Rank survivor and i play nowhere near perfectly, and still manage to win most of my games. And if i can do that, the majority of survivor mains should be able to do that.

since both are just anecdotal evidence, both are equaly valid. Can you explain how the majority of killers AND the majority of survivors can win the majority of their games? I dont understand the math behind that.

If you have to guess against a killer that means they don't have a counter. I like when I can use my skills to win and not have to hide or waste pallets. Or be a gen rat

So basicly you want to be able to win vs the killer 1v1 in the only aspect of the game you like and that already works on the majority of killers.

    Sounds balanced.

You're missing the point. The point is that while they are difficult, they're designed around survivors not playing optimally. Iron Maiden locker grab is only doable with yellow ranks. Two gen grabs in a single trial while using discordance? Only doable if the survivors ignore you and continue to do gens in your face.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of a challenge, but asking it to be done in a single trial can be a bit much.

You read my post? I excluded the ones like iron maiden and the 2-gen-grab, because they depend on others to play a certain way. But how is escaping with no mither (which is listed in the post) designed around survivors not playing optimally (other than using no mither in the first place). How is finishing 4 gens while using a certain perk designed around survivors not playin optimally (while i agree the optimal why would be all survivors genrush, in reallity it seldom happens with solo players, and swf can make this stuff easy anyway.)

Note plz that even if you started the thread, i am not replying exclusive to you.

  • where exactly is the challenge in these challanges if they can be done just by playing normal?

The only problem i have is with challenges like the iron maiden one, because it doesn´t need you to do anything, but rather someone else to do something. But that is not in your hand. Hitting with 15 hatchets is hard, but it lies in your hand, same with 4 survivors in the basement. (yes, a map with a central basement is better for that, but there are map offerings).

btw, the 4 gens with dark sense is easy, you take dark sense and bond. you dont have to do the whole gen, you just have to work on it when it finishes.

  • I doubt locking the survivors would help you that much. You know they can simply load in the survivor they want to play and then equip a key last second, and nothing would change (other than maybe you dont even noticing the change, while its hard to miss if they switch a whole character). You can never know anyway if this is an often or seldom played charactor of this player.

The point is that survivors all share the skill rating, and why should they not, since none have a unique playstyle anyway.

Killer do, and thus they got an individual rating. The locking prevents the killer from abusing that.

  • Seperate SWF and Solo Survivor queue.

1 … 40 41 42 43 44 … 60
