I don't know..a lot of the time when I'm doing gens in vain the Killer will come to me then wait and think..then go look for the other guy. Not saying I get a free escape, but many times they seem to take pity when they know my gen is the only one being worked on and make it a mission to find the other guy. And they always do! It's always so amazing to me.👻🍭🍬
That never happens to me. I am the p3 claudette, but i always go for rescues, i always do gens, even if only 2 ppl are left.
And then there are 3 scenarios.
- The other guy is doing gens as well, and is found first. I try to help, or escape, depending on his hook status
- i am found on my gen (sooner or later), and when i go down, i see the other guy on a gen. All is fine, i wont struggle to give him a fair chance at the hatch, or struggle if the killer leaves me, so we both can continue.
- i am found, go down, and see the last guy nowhere near any gen, just hidding out of harms way, doing loops in the basement and such. Thats is when i struggle extra hard so the killer has a chance to get him.
As long as 3. is not the majority of games, it is fine for me. I dont mind dying in a good match, and when everyone was trying.
But i never had it that the killer would go away to search for the hidder instead of just hooking me, giving the other guy the hatch, because he didn´t want to search for him.
But thats all because i am slow to learn. If it happens to me some more times, i will just never touch a gen anymore if only 2 survivors remain. Seems like that is one secret of survival.
-
I think the game would be dead soom. By design, the survivor side is the majority, which basicly could then force any change they want.
And even if not, people who play games have no idea about game design or game balance, making them not a good advisor.

I win 80% of my games against solos (rank 1)
See how your lógic goes both ways?
No, i dont see it, because i was refering to the 4k-argument. you just prove me, that you dont get 100% 4k vs solos.
But anyway, what exactly is win for you? The metrics for win differ widely in this game, beginging from a certain amount of blood points, to a 2k for a killer, up to only a 4k for the killer. Thats why i wrote "escape" instead of winning. Because i think we all agree what escaping is as a survivor.
-
@Sluzzy said:
It all boils down to one simple statement. Killers just want a super ez game. Where a 4K is absolute.
There you go, that's why they would dodge SWF.
And why would dodging swf mean an easy 4k?
If that were the basic case, killers would now get a 4k every time they face solo players. Yet, i play solo survivor, and i escape over 70% of my matches. Seems like i dont understand something. Can you explain?

@Leachy_Jr said:
I would very much like a SWF indicator as it seems that the devs aren't even trying to balance it. But unfortunately, as @NursesBootie put it, people would just dodge to get easier players as that's just what people do. They are never going to be able to get SWF down to solo Q or solo Q up to SWF so versing solo will always be easier.
I reckon a better solution to SWF is balancing it accordingly and giving a double bloodpoint bonus for each person in a SWF. So if there is 4 people you would get 400% BP. This would kinda sort out SWF bully squads who derank to get bad killer, after playing, even if they only get lets say 10,000 BP, they get 40,000 as a kinda "hey that match sucked, here's some compensation".
However, this is required that the devs ACTUALLY balance SWF, and judging that SWF makes the most money SWF isn't going to be nerfed any time soon.
So yea, we kinda in a lose lose with SWF until the balance team nerfs it.
But double bloodpoints dont balance anything, because bloodpoints have no relevanz in a match. It might be a compensation, but no solution to balance issues. If it were, ebony mori could easily be balanced by also giving double bloodpoints.

People are right. Stop sending these dum dums money and they will have no choice but to offer quality. Last few events have been laughable and anyone here defending their actions are just as stupid and culpable.
They still have the choice to move on and start the next gaming project. If a game isn´t viable for earing money anymore, developers move on.
-
I dislike waiting for a game and then not be able to play a normal game because some ppl just want to meme/farm or whatever. They are wasting my time.
Another example why swf should only be able to have a perk once in a group, and not all of them.
-
no you didnt, because i explicitly said someone else might be toxic and he just lets it out on you. doesnt make the killer less toxic, sure, but still something different.
Its like saying: Trump will win the presidential election, and if Biden wins, just saying "called it, we got a president".
Not the same.

Fairness. A actual fun chase.
Fairness is another not well defined word. For my understanding, spirit is fair. So maybe you should go into more detail.
But remember, its a 4v1 game. If a killer could be beaten in a 1v1 situation easily, he can never win at all.
I dislike looping, both as killer and survivor. Thats why i like killers that neutralise that mechanic, because they force a different playstyle, and more teamwork.
Why is it important to be able to beat every killer with the same boring strategy?

Yes, we know that bud, killers are supposed to be stronger, but not game breaking. How do I counter a stridor spirit?
depends on how you define "counter" or "counterplay". Usually teamplay is a way. But most people want to counter a killer in 1v1, which means the killer cant only win in a 4v1 if his skill level is way higher than the survivors.
But maybe we can figure it out. What means counterplay to you?
-
@LowSpecGamersMatter said:
seems like a change which makes her finally fair. I like it. Hopefully it stays like it
Yeah, now we only need a bug that makes swf fair.
-
I dont even think that is true. Its more like someone has been toxic to the killer, and he is bringing it into the next match.
Maybe to release his anger, maybe to prevent it from happening again.
-
Because killer often main certain killers, and certain killers can be completly countered by some perks.
If you know who your killer is, you might know which killer he chose, and how to counter that. The killer has no way to counter special survivors, or even swf.
BTW, a lot of killers tunnel and mori anyway, because they just asume their opponents might be a swf. i know i do if i play killer.
-
/*sings
"Patch today, patch tomorrow,
patch of bugs and patch of sorrow,
sorry this patch won´t bring an improvement..."

-
I think that changes make both items useless.
I actually like keys as a survivor, because i play solo survivor most of the time. And you get so many survivors dcing or hook suiciding, and in most cases there is no point in keep playing. You can just walk up the killer and hooksuicide yourself. The key at least give you a fair chance still, if you got one. And it makes tunneling at least a little bit riskier for the killer, since tunneling one survivor out is a huge boost for him, but if they got a key they are one step closer to escape as well.
Thats why i think keys are needed, because tunneling is a good option for the killer. But it shouldnt be riskfree.
Moris are needed due to the matchmaking, because killers often play vs survivors with higher skill level, and/or swf with communication, and mori helps counter that. So, i think there are issuses that need to be fixed before you fix keys and moris.

Like prior mentioned, SWF queue times would be pretty long if opting out of SWF was a thing as then almost all killers would want to face solo queue players as they are missing the critical things that only SWF can have, making matches so much easier for them
Also what is stopping players from playing a buffed killer VS solo players?
Yes, you repeated that, but you didnt say why. And the buffed killer would not be availible vs solo survivors, because, as i wrote, both options would be balanced differently. And thus, games vs solo would not be easier than vs swf, because killer would be buffed for swf, and tuned down for solos, making both options valid and fair.
-
@Hoodied said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1689170#Comment_1689170
Actually it would do the opposite, as all killers would disable SWF to prevent facing SWF teams and only face solo teams, resulting in EXTREMELY HIGH queue times for people who want to play a game with friends, resulting in them leaving the game or attempting to queue together in solos
This would chop the player count down massively and possibly result in the death of the game, hence why game companies never want to restrict you from playing with friends
The point of opting out is to balance solo and SWF differently, and thus both options would provide a fair game? Then it would actually be no different for the killer. Either you play a weaker killer vs. solo players, or a buffed killer vs swf.
Why do you think people would only choose solo?
-
I was playing solo survivor with a 3-men swf. I found a key in a chest and one of them saw me. Then the killer found me, and i looped and juked him for 4 gens. When he finally got me, the other survivors gathered around the hook, waited till i died, and took my key to get out. Their reason: i didnt work on a single gen....
Nothing a killer ever did was as bad as some thing other survivors did to me.

I don’t know why killer mains want SWF nerfed so badly. You’re literally just having fun with your friends. Not every SWF is a “bully squad” as killers call them, most just want to talk and have fun sometimes even meme. I get I get it, some perks are broken with SWF and comms take over specific perks but if you take away SWF you’ll probably be winning 99% of your killer matches.
Well, the game is based around a lack of information. There are perks that give you information, or buff you in other respects.
But with swf, you get most of the information perks for free, and far more, with nothing to compensate the killer, leaving all 16 perks for other purposes without loosing anything.
Would you still think swf were fine if the killer would get surveilance, bbq and others for free as well?
What about OoO? Its meant to be a bound between the survivor and the killer. But when all survivors get the information, shouldn´t the killer see all survivors via OoO, too?
In addition to that, communication allows enhanced coordination, because you know what the others are doing and dont need to check, meaning you always know if its save to work on a gen or if your help is needed, and where.
The thing about winning is this: at the moment, killers are balanced somewhat in between swf and solo. So they often stomp solo, but can´t keep up with swf. If solo and swf were seperated (or swf were gone), you could rebalance the game around that. But at the moment, you simply cant.
And thats why killers want SWF nerfed. Instead, it would be ok to buff solo up to the swf level and balance around that, but i a) don´t think thats possible, and b) i prefer solo queue because i like the guessing game and the lack of information. Giving me all that information might ruin that game for me and others like me. BTW, i play mostly solo survivors, and my average escape rate is over 70%. Lower after rank reset until i hit red ranks, than it rises above that. When i played swf, my survival rate was even higher, but the game was actually less fun for me.

What exactly do you think would happen when half the games population has to wait for over an hour to get a trial? Would they continue playing, paying money for DLC and cosmetics? Or would they leave and take that huge chunk of revenue with them?
Well, so you want the killers to leave first, so noone is left to spend money? because imbalanced games tend to do that, they die out sooner or later.

I feel like you’re only looking at it from one side that is, the killers side. First off, If you strongly believe that you are constantly losing into supposed SWF lobbies, there’s a button on the bottom that says “leave”. Secondly, do you not understand how unfair solo que is? You could be rank 1 survivor and get paired with a rank 10, 16, 20, and have a rank 1 sweaty killer. Do you see the problem with that? Matchmaking alone makes matches for survivors unfair. Why do you think people want to play in SWF’s in the first place? Because of crap like that. I think it’s safe to say the devs balance matchmaking first before anything.
So i think your posts are very biased. Because what i mainly take from them is:
- SWF want to play with friends, so they should have the option. The killer, however, should not have an option.
- Its ok when SWF is unfair to the killer, because otherwise, solo would be unfair for the survivor. So unfair for the killer is ok, unfair for the survivor is not.
To killers, it doesn´t matter what you think how common or rare toxic swfs are, because killers do have experience with it. And they know how often they experience it.
Yes, i had random groups that were suspected to be swf, because they all played well and worked good together without knowing each other, but its far less common than just swfs.
The seperation of swf and solo queue would allow to balance both queues differently, making the game fair for all players. SWFs just feel punished if they have to play a fair game with their friends, instead of one with a huge advantage.
-
SWF always have access to communication in a game based around a lack of that. Yes, they have an advantage. If you don´t realize that, you are either dumb or biased as hell. (its not a personal attack, i think you just brought it up for the sake of the argument. i hope you dont feel insulted by it, its not meant to).
Plz note that i play the majority of the time as solo survivor, but i had my fair share of swf, and its crazy how much it pushes your performance as a team. Yes, i played in really good solo matches, where the survivors steamrolled the killer just the same, but they had to take risks (at least perseived ones) to make it happen, while a swf group always have perfect information about the team status, and often about the killer.
-
Because swf have a huge advantage over the killer, and the game isnt balanced for that. And since only good killers would want to go at a match with a disadvantage, queue times would go up for swf, and they would actually have matches vs killers that could handle the disadvantage, cutting them off of their easy victorys. SWF´s dont want that, they want the easy game in the first place, and to bully the killer.
and since survivors outnumber killers, you dont get a vote if oyu play with a handicap or not.
-
well, there is no frame of reference given, really. I for one wouldn´t say that i am old, despite the fact i played my first video game about 38 years ago. I would say that most players are over 20, because in my experience player numbers are way higher when work hours are over, and on weekends.
That a lot of them act like they are children does sadly not mean they are.
-
I just would like the same rules would also apply to survivors. Like, if the killer chases you away from a gen, you are not allowed to come back to it, unless you worked on another gen first. I mean, the survivors objective is to do 5 gens, not just one, so they should spread that out, shouldnt they?
Yet, noone seems to play by such a rule. I wonder why...

A large portion of this community play to have fun, camping is (for the majority) not fun.
1) It's not fun when your teammate is being camped and you can't do anything about it (and even worse if you're playing solo q because you might just get a team of lemmings who decide that they don't want to do gens, so better hope you can live long enough to get hatch, that is if you're not the next one getting camped)
2) if you're the one being camped it's very very unfun (yes you can try to make it better possibly by trying to ensure you team escapes, that is if they aren't the aformentioned lemmings, but even then you get to get chased, get hooked, press spacebar/key of choice for struggle, then die, probably netting you very little points unless you're a god looper and managed to max out Boldness before they caught up to you)
3) being the one DOING is camping is very unfun. Generally you're either doing it because the game is already going poorly for you and you're trying to secure at least ONE kill, you came into this game upset from another game and are trying to take out your frustration on the first available target (so you're already not having fun and have dragged 1-4 other people into it), or you came in with the intention to camp and make the game as unfun as possible for 1-4 other people.
4) And then there's also the off cases where a killer camps until NOED kicks in and then goes on a fiesta, or a killer beings in an ebony and hooks, possibly camps, tunnels and moris them out of the game one by one, so again, very unfun, especially with queue times being as unreliable as they are
So yes, SOMETIMES you can genrush and 2-3 people will escape (that is if the killer doesn't have NOED, and it'll probably activate because who wants to take time to cleanse totems against a camping killer and increase the chances of him getting someone else?), but good luck on finding a team who'll do that in Solo q.
Camping can be a tactic a killer can use yes, as can slugging, but people have abused it to the point where it's become as hated as it has.
I disagree. Running around in circles in loops until you hit that pallett is also unfun, yet a lot of this community does it.
Unlike camping, its just something that favors survivors, and thats why they like it, and dislike camping. Its not about fun, its about advantage.
-
Yes!
Since i used an exclamation mark, did i win? I mean, since you don´t do arguments?
-
Moris need to be common enough so you can use one every time you suspect you go against an swf. Since the game is not balanced around that, killers need a way to keep up. Moris are one of them.
-
And why have the only way to outplay him have to be in a chase? Stealthing around him while he is activly searching for you is a way to outplay him, just not one that a lot of people want. I actually have fun playing vs deathslinger, but i like playing against all killers.

I did this once. Overall i played Bubba like 5 times but he is extremely boring and i feel "special" for playing this killer.
In my entire time i have seen maybe 2 or 3 decent Bubba players, but most of them run around like headless chicken and search behind every rock to find someone they can hook camp. Not too hard to beat with a decent team that doesn't fall for him. But seriously, killers that do nothing but camp hooks. What a low life.
Billy can also one hit players but at least he requires a bit of skill to get a hit on a survivor and not a wall. Bubba is just so ... low and cheap. No respect.
I know he already got a rework but at this point, i would like to see him completely removed from the game.
Any thoughts?
Yes. You should respect your fellow players, no matter if they make choices you dislike.
Disrespecting others is really one sign of a low life.

I'll probably get shamed for this but where did this mentality of, "You didn't juke him he just missed."
Its not a mentality, its a fact. You can not react to his quickscope, especially not if he is semi-close range.
I disagree. While it is a fact you cant react to his quickscope, that doesnt mean you cant act preemtively. Your action before he quickscope can still make him miss, there is no autoaim in this game.
A lot of people just like to repeat what others say if it fits their opinion.
No, killers dont need to be countered 1v1 in a chase in a 4v1 game. they just need to buy time, and they still can do that on a lot of maps.
As long as killers don´t have an exceptional high kill rate, they are fine. And devs have access to the kill rate, unlike us.
-
The matchmaking in this game is broken. But there is hope. You play as a green rank killer only vs red ranked swf a lot, but once you hit red rank yourself, you mostly get green rank solo survivors, at least thats what happen to me.
Thats why both sides always complain how broken the other side is.
-
running around in circles might be fun for some, but for others its just the most boring part of the game. Also, as killer you know your time is wasted if someone goes for that route anyway, so better go for someone else.
-
I am a pc player, and i bring an ebony mori every game when i play killer. Why? Because the devs said they will look into them. Experience shows, that you should use them up now as long as they do anything at all. Same goes for keys, i bring them every game i play as survivor at the moment. I got enough of both since i never used them before.

You wanna tell where exactly I wrote that I never say gg after losing? Don't make assumptions like that. I was simply saying that even if I win, I don't mean it in a bad way smh.
You are right, i should not make assumptions. Then let me ask you: Do you say it after losing too? If so, does saying gg after winning differ for you from saying it when losing? If not, why did you explicitly talk about winning, since it seems that you make a distinction here? But then, i am not a native english speaker, so maybe i just miss something. In my language, leaving things out or setting focus on them usually has a deeper meaning.

IIn this community, its mostly a "haha, i won, you didnt", because it is almost exclusivly used by the winner, and only seldom by the one(s) that lost the game.

The one that never goes near an unfinished gen when only 2 survivors are left. Maybe i dispite them, because i always try to fix that last gen, and so i am the one getting caught, and seeing the other guy hiding in the basement or somewhere else away from gens.

High Profile Tournaments showed there is next to nothing you can do.
The Advantage communication gives in a game based around not having all information is just too big.
It can happen that you outskill an swf, but if they are at equal skill level to you, they just beat you, teabagg ingame and insult you in the after game chat. Thats at least the most likley outcome.

Not really sure why they don't just restrict Hag from placing traps within activation distance of a hooked survivor (and have pre-placed ones in this vicinity auto-activate and disappear).
Just give her the same treatment as Pyramid Head's Rites of Judgement Trails or Demogorgon's Portals.
On a similar note, at some point they should probably also prevent Trapper/Freddy/Hag from placing traps right underneath Exit Gate switches.
Sure, if she gets the same movement speed, then the same restrictions might be ok.

I kept statistics for 222 games as solo survivor.
Out of that games, 64 games included camping, and 34 tunneling, 22 of the tunneling games are part of the 64 camping games, because the killer did both. But this is actually old data, it was after the release of the deathslinger. I didnt keep new stats, so it might have changed. At least it feels like camping is happening less since the undying/ruin meta.
-
I agree with the op, i like the game as a hide-and-seek, the only time i disconnect is when survivors insist of the boring running in circles vs a killer i dont like and only play for a challenge/daily. But since i mostly play spirit and hag, that seldom happens in "real gameplay".
When i play survivor, i usually use los-blockers and juke the killer, which is way more fun in my opinion.

Yeah let me study how the spirit plays with the 6 chases I'll get with her and manage to play perfectly on the 6th. That's assuming your team are competent and save you before 2nd stage, and they'll heal you, and you don't get tunneled.
Using perks to make counterplay isn't good game design. Spirit is an awfully designed killer who goes against the entire principle of the game; using information to trick survivors, or using information and recognising it as false or not, and playing accordingly. Spirit just takes that information and yeets it to the sun.
Well, SWF goes against this entire principle as well. And there is no perk to help against them, and no counterplay to them sharing the information they got. I think that why a killer that messes with these information is a good addition.
-
I like survivor best, because i like the game not as a running-in-circles-simulatior, but as a hide-and-seek game. And how that plays is in the hand of a survivor, the killer can only react to that.
However, there are some killers i enjoy as well.
-
You can trigger her map, wait 5 seconds and unhook then. The trap is gone if she didn´t teleported to you, and maybe she had to break chase to not down you, because you use the 5 seconds for distance.
It actually depends on what the hag is doing at the time, and how good you can coordinate a rescue.
-
The gif is a really nice representation of other things as well. Do you notice how the swf around huntress are not the least bit afraid?

I am honestly sick an tired of killer who run ebony mori. Bring a Nurse, Spirit, PH, get a hook, tunnel off the hook so its instant 3v1. GG. How is that fair? WHY are there things in the game that gives one side more or less a free win?
And dont come up with Keys. Yes, they are op too, but not nearly as bad as Mori.
Just make it cosmetic style after 2nd hook. Why should there be an offering, that gives you a massive advantage? It makes no sense.
Öhm, i think you are wrong about mori. when you talk about the most obvious broken thing that gives a free win, that thing is swf.
Mori only comes in second place.
Beside, not every killer using mori is a hook tunneling camping tryhard, most of them just like the animation and want to have fun with it.
And Moris are not that common.

We could just have a reliable match making system where noobs played against noobs, pros against pros, and those who just wanted to have fun playing with friends could do so against killers that are also there just for fun
Well, an interesting thing i noticed. I am a survivor main, but play killer as well. Most of the time i stayed in green ranks, and faced full red rank teams a lot, often swf. And got outplayed time and time again, because i wasn´t a good killer. Now, slowly i become decent, and i worked my way up to killer red ranks. Now i get mostly green ranked solo survivors that don´t know how to deal with a killer. Yeay matchmaking.
-
When i play killer, i dont care, since most people dc when they are downed for the first time. It just makes my game easier.
I go easy on the other survivors if someone dc before i am engaged with him.
As a survivor, yes, it enrages me, because that ######### survivor just ruined a game i depended on him. He didnt hurt the killer, he did hurt his fellow survivors.
