I've been wondering why there's no base game counter to stuff like that.
I shouldn't have to spend a perk slot just to cover for unbalanced and unfun gameplay.
True, but killers can´t even spent perk slots to cover unbalanced and unfun gameplay like swf.
And thats even worse, because camping usually loses the game for the killer, while being an swf usual wins the game for the swf.
-
Yes, and all that should put server hit validation in your favor. Yet it didn´t. I wonder why. (thats a retorical trick, i actually have a hunch why that is).
-
While i had strange hits now and then, they are far too uncommon for me to be the problem you make it to be.
But from what i saw from your last thread on this matter i belive you have connection issues but rather blame it on everything else.
-
You can´t deny it to the if they live in a free country.
-
Well, just played the map as survivor, and it seemed very good to me. run smoothly, and i didnt have any issues with too few pallets, they seemed just fine to me.
But i really have to test the map as killer. I am colorblind, and ormond was the worst map there is. I couldn´t see auras , not even gens or hooks on that map. But a lot of the map reworkes made the auras clear enough for me to see without filter, so i hope the same is true for ormond.
Even though i still have a problem with blood and scratch marks, not even seening gens where the worst.
-
then do me a favor and don´t start crying if they become good with a killer. Because if they become, then its all "killer is op" "no counterplay", and such. Really 2 different type of metric used here for killers and survivors.

To answer your question: About everything.

That Matchmaking you got worked pretty well, I am rank 10 killer, when I was rank 15 i only played against red and purple ranks.
Happened to me too, but there is good news. If you reach red rank as killer, you will be matched with green rank solo survivors (no joke, happend to me time and again).

It is interesting to see comments from those that have played since release, compared to those that joined more recently.
For those who've played since release, they should really be able to identify immediately that soloQ is in an absolutely disgusting place right now, relative to anything else. New/low tier killers will complain about something like 'infinites' and have NO IDEA what real infinites were back in the day.
Part of the problem were in, is that the community and this forum in particular fail to talk about soloQ vs SWF.
This forum typically resorts to tribalistic survivor vs killer comments.
The new stats highlight that killers have it easier now than at any point at release. Killers are up around 3 kills per game, so the 'poor killer' threads are just a pathetic joke at this point.
SoloQ changes needs to be a focus.
You are aware that those stats
a) only shows games with red rank killers, so we have no information about kill rates at other ranks
b) only shows games with red rank killers, no matter what rank the survivors have, and with this matchmaking, that often means a red rank killer vs rank 16 survivors.
c) don´t contain any information about maps (and map offerings), swf or solo and perkes used.
And while killer might have it easier than ever before, it does not mean that the game is still balanced in favor of the (swf)survivors.
But since the important balance issue (swf) is never going to get touched, balance will not be achived.
-
Some people just do it because you dont play in a way they want you to. However, bodyblocking does happen without bad intent, too, sometimes due to inexperience or lack of judgement.
-
i wouldn´t, because the lack of information and the guessing and taking risks is what makes the game exciting to me.
But since they wont seperate swf from solo survivor queues, buffing information is maybe the only way to go, even if it destroys part of the games identity.
The big question is, what level of information do you want to achive? I don´t need a totem counter so far, but the knowledge of the risk you take (the killer is in a chase, or camping) or even which other gens are currently worked at by other survivors are very powerful. Yet, it makes the game way more boring, because you never have to guess if the killer is coming over, or might be standing behind you already.
-
well, i speak with my fellow teammates before the match, especially if i want to bring perks like plunderers instinct or inner strength, which depends a little on what other players do. Sure, you got times when you tell people you open chests for items for all that they run straight to the chests and open them all, but other times you have ppl throw in coins for even more items.
The fact that you dont use the lobby this way doesn´t mean noone does. It just doesn´t happen automaticly, you have to communicate activly. I know, a strange concept.
-
@bm33 said:
They should make it that when you search for a lobby everything should be locked, survivor and killer. Skip the loading into second lobby and showing offerings bits, just go straight into the match. Can have something in the HUD show if there's something like BPS. No more lobby/offering dodging or last minute switches.
No, they shouldn´t. The gap between swf and solo survivors need to be closed, not widend. Why would you take away some of the few ways for solo survivors to coordinate?

I just love it how everyone now starts again with "Killer is sooooo stressful" or "big balance issues". But when a fewn weeks ago Killer Queues were HORRIBLY long (like, way longer than Survivor Queues currently), nobody said anything.
If Killer is stressful for you, that is a you-problem. It is easier than ever and if I see what Survivor Teammates I get (second day in a row where I got a David in my Team who started looking for Hatch with 2 Gens to go while 3 Survivors are left aka it did not become visible yet...), everyone should capitalize from those players.
@Topic:
If you are on PC, you can try to disable Crossplay. Especially Console seems to bring in a lot of Survivors but almost no Killers (Console-Killers also might just turn off Crossplay to have easier games against Console Survivors only, since they still get instant Queue Times), so this might help, depending on the Region you are in.
Of course this is also not really a Balance Problem, it is a optimization problem, getting Lags after 15 seconds of chasing because Bloodlust kicks in is simply bad. So understandable why Console-Killers dont really like to play with that optimization.
i never had those long killer queues, so i wasn´t even aware there was a problem. However, i notice the longer survivor queue at the moment.
But it might as well be a regional thing.
-
The worst thing done to me was with a 3man swf where i joined as a solo survivor. I got a key in a chest, was found by the killer, and kept him in a chase until the others had finished 4 gens. then he downed me, and hooked me. Then the swf came over, teabagged me, and waited till i was dead, took my key, and left.
After game they told me they did it because i did not work on a gen, and had been useless.
Note that i run aura perks fairly often, most likly bond or kindred, but sometimes empathy or even aftercare, so i know what my fellow teammates did:
For example, we play against trapper, and i get into a trap (wich the "no easy escape" addon). And with bond i see that the survivor currently chased by the killer (they were running away from me) changes direction, runs to me, and past me. The killer then downs and hooks me.
I unhooked a guy with aftercare, and later in the game i am injured, juke the killer, and start healing, while the other guys gets into a chase again. The then runs straight to me, so the killer goes for the easy target again.
The reason i always run selfcare is, that i had games where teammates refuse to heal you, finish a gen, and then run to the next gen, still refusing to heal you. If the killer comes, they bodyblock you so they get away and the killer takes you instead.
I dont go for last-minutes-rescues anymore, because i had games with swf where i helped save one swf member and got downed. But since i was not part of their swf, they just left, without even attemption to rescue me, even with a no camping killer and no noed.
also, i try to hide if the killer comes and i am on deathhook, and the survivor in chase knows where i am and runs the killer around my hidding spot until he spots me and changes targets.
The occasional stolen item is not that important, and a lot of bodyblocks are more egoistic and/or lack of judgement than trying to troll you, but still.

Oh yeah?
What's the counter to Deathslinger?
What's the Counter to Spirit when you're Exhausted, and in the middle of a chase without Iron Will?
Please, explain.
Juking works for me a lot of times.
Vs Deathslinger, i have a special trick. I not only listen to his terror radius, i also use these globe things in my face. With the right positioning on a gen, you can SEE him before he is there, and if you then dont just wait till he is there, you can get away. Not even a perk needed.
Sure, it might not work on every gen on every gen, but every killer has his weak points. And i am a survivor main that has no problems with any killer (and that doesn´t mean i escape all the time, but pretty often).
I kept statistics for some time, and i wish devs would emplement this into the game. Because i think a lot of people would change their views if they had results at their hands.
-
The balance problem lies in the fact that the killer is balanced somewhere between solo survivors and swf.
While both match types can be stressfull, vs a good swf you don´t have much of a chance of doing anything meaningful, and its showing.
The devs should just seperate solo and swf gameplay and balance both seperatly. Since both ways would be balanced, there would not even be a need to dodge the swf queue.
-
Well, the game is still not properly balanced, and matchmaking is still bad.
I play both sides usually, but i play next to no killer at the moment, and mostly survivor. There are resons why people play less killer than survivor. And whenever i go to the forums, i see threads for nerfing killer that can´t be occupied by running in circles, because most survivors don´t want to adept to the killer.
-
While we are at it, we could as well get The Count von Count, he is a Vampire after all. And his ability could resolve about the numbers of gens, totems, and hooks to stay on theme. Maybe Bert as survivor, he always stroke me as someone with ptsd, which might make him suitable for the entity.
-
i ddint know they stated that. do you have a link for me?

Um, define "bullying", and if you have video examples I'd like to see, because a lot of people call SWF squads "bully squads" and all they're doing is something so benign like coordinating head on plays. Or they're just playing better than the killers and get called a bully squad despite the fact that all they're doing is being better at the game. And of all the big streamers I've watched Ive never seen them go out of their way to flame the killer in postgame chat etc. Even all the survivor mains.
When i started out playing killer, i had a 4 man squad, and i couldn´t catch any of them. So They stopped doing gens after 4 were done, and started blinding me with flashlights, if i managed to down one they bodyblocked/dodged my hits and blinded me till i dropped him, or 2 healed him while the 3rd blocked me. And every free action was teabagging. I was a new killer and totally helpless. They did not continue the game and take a win, they stopped playing and came to me, because they knew i could not harm them (that were when 3 rank1 and 1 rank 16 would be matched against a rank 18 killer, like i was at the time). Well, i would consider this bullying. What would you call it?

Ah ok. Its just like that especially his fanbase tends to agree blindly to whatever he says.
There are a lot of other Content Creators (even Killer Mains) who say that she is not ok. And there is really a lack of information what she is doing, while she gets all the information. Like, she does not even move grass, despite walking through it.
The last game where I really struggled as Spirit (but to be fair, I dont play her often, since I dont have fun while playing her), was against 4 Iron Wills and I am not using Stridor. And I still got a 2K out of it, meaning with Stridor, it would have probably been a 4K and those 4 guys wasted a Perk Slot. Let alone that I dont use PGTW or Ruin/Undying. And I am not really good at Killer IMO.
So when even I get a 2K despite the Survivors having the optimal Setup against me (all have Iron Will while I dont have Stridor), you can imagine what someone who is a little bit more skilled than me and/or is using Stridor can do.
But like I said in my first comment, I am pretty sure that she will get nerfed in the future, but I also think that BHVR fears the backlash from Killer Mains since those are always the loudest when something on their side is nerfed (even if it is only slighly, like with the first Spirit Nerf where she only lost the most obvious stuff in her Basekit and her most ridiculous Add Ons).
Anecdotal evidence means nothing at all.
For example, i am a survivor main, and play killer about 30% or less of my play time. Usually i play killer to do challanges and/or daylies. I am not a good killer, because i suck at chases (thats why hag is my favorite and "main" killer). But for the "break 15 gens or palletts" challenge i used the demogorgon, a killer i dont like, and thus don´t use often. I thought the portals might give survivors something to do, slowing down gen speed to give me time to damage more gens. I did not commit to long chases, just short ones.
Yet, i didnt only get the challange done, i got a 3k, with one hatch escape. I was playing a killer i am not experienced with, i didn´t even try, and still its a 3k.
Since my experience is as valid as your own, do you think the conclusion that demogorgon is more op than spirit is right? No, because anecdotal evidence have no statistical significance.
The other thing i dont get is the comment about content creators. These people actually play for a living. So i would guess that most of the popular are in the top 5% of players. Yet, the argument that the game should not be balanced around the top players is brought up time and again, especially after big tournaments where the top players show the actuall power of swf.
Why is it ok to use the top player when it suits your point of view, but its not ok if it doesn´t?

That's like saying the counter to a gen rushing swf is to just hook them.
That is the answer killer players get if they complain about genrush. "pressure gens" doesnt mean anything else then that.
Not every killer should be easily handled by one and the same game mechanic. . So in my opinion it is ok that some killers are not easily countered in chases.
The problem is, that for many people on the forums chases are the favorite part of the game. But that does not mean that is true for everyone, and it doesn´t mean its the only part of the game.

I mean, I agree that if you get triggered by tbagging or clicking it's definitely a you problem. I mean genuine toxicity though, in endgame chat or on profile comments. And I don't want to close the window or have a private profile because people can be genuinely good people there too and I enjoy wishing people a good day. Plus whenever someone comments "-rep tunneling camping scum" despite dying on first hook being hooked first and I'm chasing someone else it makes me cackle.
Normally, it's something I just report and move on. I'm just saying that this type of legitimate toxic behaviour shouldn't be something that's tolerated by anyone, or perpetuated by anyone.
I disagree. I believe the problem is the intent of being toxic and hurt other people. To me, it doesn´t matter if its through teabagging (which was invented as an insult) or by endgame chat. Its all the same, because the intention counts.
When you chose to seperate those issues, you just move the goalpost around "this i care about" and "this i dont care about", which is a very personal scale.
-
I have some questions to you. You say that the bloodpoint reward shape the gameplay. Can you explain the amount of camping killers then, which affectes bloodpoins negativly?
Gens do bring bloodpoints, as do dull totems, yet a lot of survivors seem to be allergic to both. Can you explain?
Longer games bring more bloodpoints than short ones, yet a lot of survivors gen rush, and a lot of killers tunnel. Can you explain?
As you might suspect, i doubt your theory, based on those examples as well as my personal experience. I dont care about bloodpoints, because they are so incredibly easy to get in my opinion. But then, as a survivor i seldom get less than 24k bloodpoints, a lot of times i get more than the killer.

No?
Unless you're against sweaty survivors, which is not even a common thing that people on this forum tend to argue, you're perfectly capable of getting a 2-4K by hooking everybody and not resorting to tunnelling.
You're just bad at the killer role if the only way you can win is by tunnelling.
The thing is, you are a sample size of one. The experience of players in the forums might differ. I, for example, play vs sweaty swfs quite regular, so for me it is a problem, and yes, i start tunneling then.
Why do you think you are capable of telling people how common things are to them that they experience and you don´t?
On a funny side note: When i was a green rank killer, i was matched vs red rank swf all the time. Once i hit red ranks, i am paired against green rank solo survivors. It might be my personal experience and not reflect all of matchmaking, but i don´t claim it does. It is just my personal experience.

I can agree 101%. It is way too easy and too easy to win. Thank the devs for constantly nerfing survivors and buffing killers. I can't believe survivors are still able to run. In 2021 they are definitely planning to remove pallets, it is the only thing left.
No, you can´t. You failed math, didn´t you?
-
Would you mind bbq being basekit for killers, as it is already 100% fair with all the counters it has?
-
I actually have no problem with any killer. How well the game runs depends much more on your fellow survivors in solo queue, than on the killer. Lots of survivors that just give up against certain killers, mostly because they cant keep them occupied by running in circles.
-
Still so many people with no understanding of basic math.

Ah ok, i am not a native speaker, so i havn´t noticed the sarcasm. However, in this forum i met enough survivors who would not mean such a statement sarcasticly.

Also, while you seem to be concerned about new players and a growth in the player base, i think it misses the point. So, my question stands.
-
Hmm, i like the idea, maybe we can balance swf the same way. The killer gets a perk called "broken friendship", and has to do a skillcheck if he hooks a survvior that is part of an swf. if he succed, the survivor instantly disconnects. Just to be fair.

There are plenty of issues on both sides, but it's really not fair to say the devs ignore killers. As someone who tends to play surv, I find it to be the opposite. So I'd say it's just the devs at this point not understanding proper balancing in this game still lol
As someone who plays both sides, but mainly survivors, i say they dont ignore survivors, but the advantage survivors have in the game are still very high.
But to your topic: I agree with you in some ways. The point is to look at why the survivor outclass the killer.
And there are mainly 2 reasons:
Bad matchmaking: The devs prioritize matchmaking times over actuall game balance, we know that. This way, people with highly different skill levels are matched against each other. If you are the low skill killer player, you are in for a hard time, because even one or two survivor more skilled unbalance the game so much in their favor, that you have no chance. Bloodlust helped to hide that fact, because if the skill difference was not too much, it helped the killer keep up. Without it, he can´t. But since i dont think we will get a fair matchmaking anytime soon, bloodlust might be needed to compensate the skill difference the game puts you in on purpose.
The other possibility is that the survivor and the killer are actually on the same skill level, but the survivor have soo much advantage on their side, that it is hard to keep up as killer. Gentimes are fast, and a survivor that can waste enough time will end the killer game as fast. In that case, further balance need to be achived if you disable bloodlust, either through killer sided map reworks, killer buffs or survivor nerfs.
I only played as solo survivor that weekend, because thats what i do most of the time anyway. I Never got killed, and i seldom saw more than one guy dying.
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
7 games as survivor, and 7 escapes. I'd say only 2 matches provided any sort of challenge and I was only hooked once.
Honestly, as survivor removing bloodlust was brilliant! However, for newer killers this completely screws them over, and since the developers want to broaden their player base this has potential to dramatically reduce people wanting to play killer, especially in early stages.
Maybe bloodlust doesn't affect higher skilled killers, but that misses the point: If the game wants to grow, this change will not help it. There are other far more important issues to address before bloodlust should even be touched.
why do you think it was brilliant? Do you think a 100% survival rate is healthy for the game? I had the same experience as well. Last night, it was rare that one survivor got killed in a match.
-
I actually played an endgame build, and it worked well for me. Noed and bloodwarden, you down one (usually in sight of the exit gates) and if its not open already you open it before you hook the survivor. Then you kill the 3 guys that started teabagging in the exit.
Bad thing is that there are not enough hooks around the exit usually, so you get only to hook 2 of the 3, because one will most likly get away.

and how is giving double BP on the weekend that it's being tested going to help decide whether BL works or not? When players are not playing properly? That's why this is a test for data, and that's why not more than one change can be made at once for testing things.
If you want them to play properly, you should simply have disabled bloodlust for the weekend without announcing it. Knowing this community, i would not be surprised if both killers and survivors lose chases on purpose to prove their point.

No. Nurse still lags out and gets autoaimed on indoor maps, so I won't be happy until the devs show nurse some love, or change indoor maps to outdoor ones.
But that is an issue with nurse, not with indoor maps.
-
Well, it is a win for you if the heavyweight boxing champion wins vs an 8 year old beginner? Because this game matches them both against each other.
But maybe we have different definitions on how you earn a win. Yes, you can beat a team 3v1 if one disconnects, but you do that by an unfair advantage, because the game is designed around 4v1.
And yes, in sports you can take away a win, ask any former winner of whatever that got exposed for doping. He still beat the other guys, but he did it unfairly.

This. I only do it if I have a rough idea of where the last guy is, otherwise I don't waste my time and begin the 50/50 race for hatch. It's pretty dumb that I gotta use these tactics though since I earned the 4k. You fail your obj, you should lose.
But sometimes you ddint earn it. If matchmaking sticks you with the rank 18 noob, its a 3v1 game basicly. However, they guy that you didn´t catch several times and is still unhooked while you got all others have not earned it why?
It might be true if you play vs. swf, but solo is a lot more unrelieble, and a lot of variables you have no control over lead to you winning or losing without having earned anything (on both sides).
I play solo survivor most of the time, but i do play killer. I actually never slug for the 4k, instead i just hook the 3rd and race the last one for the hatch, which works well in the majority of games, and dosen´t waste further time in a game i won anyway.

Survived 6 matches in a row last night and only 1 teammate died in 2 of those. But I am seeing a lot of demoralized killers and teabagging teammates.
Same for me. Havn´t played as killer, but survivor got even easier. Chases go on for so long where you sit on a gen without interruption, it gets boring very fast. A lot of games with less than 3 hooks, and mostly one dead for camping with an instadown.
-
I love indoor maps. I play mostly survivor, and while i can´t loop to save my (characters) life, i can juke killers. In order to do that, you need los-breaker, and indoor maps conists of nothing else. Its so easy to lose the killer there.
As killer i like them too, because i am colorblind, and they are about the only maps where i can see scratch marks and blood. Also, i like stealth killers, that get a use from indoor maps as well.
So, now you meet one that loves them. Are you happy?
-
I am highly against that. I stopped playing swf because it made the game boring. The thrill comes from a lack of information, and you have to base your playstyle around that. Your idea would destroy that. On top of that, i doubt it would do so much anyway. A lot of people feel its the lack of communication that makes them lose, but i disagree. The guy that just runs around behind the killer with a flashlight dosnt care how often you tell him to do gens, he is doing what he wants anyway. I had games where i was the only one doing gens (4 i did from 0-complete alone, because all other 3 were allergic to gens. And its not because i couldn´t tell them what to do.
Also, if that was implemented, killers would need a serious buff, because they can handle swf because of the communication. They are not buffed because they would destroy solos too easy otherwise. But if you buff solos, you have to buff killer, and wihtout swf you still lose because one potato is enough, and this game has many of them.
-
I only played survivor so far, but i noticed that games got incredible easy, even as solo survivor. A lot of killers just get kited around and never get a hit or down till the gens are done. I am not a runner, but if you got one in your team you basicly won, at least thats my impression.
-

It seems for most killers, games aren't fun and they aren't wins unless they get a 4k. I personally am bored to death as killer when survivors just hide and wait for hatch. I know they're going to get it and I'm glad the game will end and I can move on to the next. I do slug sometimes to try to find the person who is hiding and doing nothing, and then I try to give the person I already downed the hatch as a reward for actually playing. But most survivors are selfish and bad, so it's hard to do. And I'm a survivor main, btw.
But most other killer don´t. In these 2 ppl situation, i usually get found because i stll do gens, while the other just hides. i really think fpr a lot of killers who claim to do that its just wishfull thinking, because they dont know who the one just hidding is, and they only find the one near the gen.

Here's the thing that I'm worried about the removal of bloodlust. It disincentivizes actual chases with killers and I dunno if that's something I'd want. Killers will be more likely to mind game or just use killers that don't need to worry as much with chases.
You've also brought up a point that I didn't think of. It makes it easier for potatoes to rise through the ranks to red ranks who don't really need to learn how to do a chase. Once they reach higher ranks and they need to deal with mind games or strong killers they'll collapse.
While that is true, it is not a problem. Because they will just call certain killers op and wait for them to be nerfed. That worked well so far.
