The problem is that this map offers few things in a chase, and few things for hidding.
I find it a good thing if one or the other is true, because it forces people to play different on different maps, but here i it is very hard to juke the killer, because there are few los breaker and not a lot of places where you could have gone if you managed to get out of sight.
But also not much to work with in a chase.
-
Well, i joined a match to play the game, not to do boring tasks to just get points.
It might be different when one or two players suicide or dc, because that leaves all other players with an unbalanced game, but even then i would often prefere to either try to play the killer with a disadvantage or just be killed to get to a new game.
-
Matchmaking was bad since i play this game, and that was way before dedicated servers
-
The only game mod needed is a casual mod which allows only solo players and has a seperate balancing.
-
I read about a lot of killers that want a challenge. They might seek out the swf especially.
Also, why would killers dodge swf if it were balanced? Oh wait, because it isn´t.
Maybe if someday a mmr is implemented that make games actually fair, but not now.
And for post game lobby, i like to keep stats on my games. If i would keep stats on killer games (just for the argument, i stopped playin killer anyway) there would be a pattern to see, either that swf has next to no impact, or that its has. And i think one of the outcomes is feared by the devs, because as long as there is no proof, they dont have to act.
-
Survivors: Meg, Claudette, Jeff and Bill. They also have all perks.
Killers: While most have all perks, i didn´t prestige any of them, especially since i dont like to play half of them.
Maybe i go for prestiging hag one day, but since i stopped playing killer for now, there is no point in it.

yeah, but he said the person performing the action. still the survivor on killers shoulder that is performing the wiggle action. or would you argue that for that case it would make sense for leader users to see everyone else's progress bars?
But if you were consistant with that, survivors should not be able to see how much a downed survivor has already healed himself, thus not knowing how much he has to heal to pick him up. He didnt perform the action, after all.
-
Thats true in theory, klakky, but not in reallity. Ask european doctors in hospitals about their shifts, especially in the pandemic. Lets see if they kept their hours. (hint: they usually don´t).
-
Should looping changed too? i mean, if a 50/50 guess is not acceptable, there are tiles where killers have to do that, no matter which killer they play. If its not ok for one side, its not ok for the other, or is it?
-
SWF should not be gone, but it should be a seperate game mode with a different balancing than solo, simple as that. Then you can adjust killers and survivors that both modes are fair and balanced. Since both modes would be balanced, there would be no need for killers to dodge swf.
But a lot of swf are against a change like that, talking about "being punished for playing with friends", because they simply want to dominate the killer easily.

Yes they are. It has been confirmed multiple times as on their to do list.
Just like a working mmr? A working hit validation? a way to make solo closer to swf and then buff killers to keep up? All still on the list, as far as i know.
-
Only working 6-7 hours instead of 16 helps. Still have time for my family and to play the game

this doesn't fix anything and will instead just increase the amount of SWFs that play, people would 100% rather face a bigger debuff than play solo and maybe get bebuffed as a solo if they get put with a 2-man / 3-man.
and to top it off, killer ain't even hard, people are still pushing this idea that killer is as hard as it was 3 years ago and that just isn't the case, people really need to stop thinking they're the best killer in the entire game and that the only reason they lose is SWF, because that isn't it, you're just bad at dbd.
i dont think anyone is pushing the idea that killer is harder than 3 years ago. They pushing the idea that killer is harder than survivor, and it surly is.
-
I am a solo survivor main, and used to play both sides. But i finally stopped with playing killer, because of this. But overall, i play the game less anyway. I liked to play killer for a change, but now, i just play some survivor games and then i do something else. And while i have nearly all dlc (i skipped the saw dlc) and some cosmetics, i won´t spend any money on this game until they balance the important issues, which can be either adressing swf or making matchmaking work. But since i doubt they try the first and also doubt they are able to do the second, i belive i will play less until i just stop someday and return for the odd game in between.
-
Well, if personal experience is the measurement, then this game is survivorsided for sure, as i escape over 75% of my games.
When i played killer, i did play against 4 ds in one game, and while it sure was rare, having no ds in a game is less common than having 2.(that is my experience as both killer and survivor, even though i never use ds myself, because in my games, camping and tunneling is usually rare and it often is a dead perk.

Yes and I’m not discussing tournament gameplay as it’s not relevant to the majority. In my experience those that struggle are themselves making bad gameplay choices as killers and not looking to what mistakes they are making that cause them to struggle, thus, they don’t improve. And yes, that’s the exact point I’m making, that’s why it’s the title of the thread
So you dont give evidence, you dont discuss the evidence there is, and that invalidates your whole point actually.
Because you want something to be changed on your own personal metric, and that certainly is not healthy for the game.
Also, the devs do have the full statistics, while we only have a part of it. If that game is not challenging enough for you, maybe you should move on to something else.
(and just to clarify: I am a survivor main what used to play both sides, and i stopped playing killer because the game favors survivors way too much. My escape rate was around 75%, but since the mori change it just gone up)
-
no, its proof on high level gameplay where everyone is knowing what they do. And for killers, it is challenging.
On general gameplay, a lot of players struggle and are challenged enough as it is.
This thread basicly reads as if you want to make the impression that killer were too easy and powerful, while it is clear for most people that is not the case.
You can´t factor in bad allys in terms of balance in a game like this, because if you do, it becomes broken easily if the bad allys happen to be good ones.
Maybe if someday a usefull matchmaking is implemented, but i doubt it will happen.

The evidence is there if you want to see it, there’s no need for me to display an example for anyone and I won’t. If you play as killer you know what I’m talking about
Well, we have high-level tournaments that show quite the opposite from people who play killer for a living, so no, its not there to see.
You make a claim, and the burden of proof is on you, because all the proof we have indicates the opposite.

I’m not looking for a challenge within a small group of people, I’m looking for a challenge in random matching which ought to be the goal of an engaging game
Well, but that won´t happen. If you play random, you are very likly to meet a team with at least one potatoe, making the game a 3v1 in your favor. To have your challenge, you need to play against swf, but you cant choose that if you play random.
You can try to persue the devs to make an extra swf queue, so you would be able to match with them specificly.
-
Well, you can use the forums to get a good group of swf to play in a kyf-game. I think that would provide a challenge.
But high-skilled tournaments show that the killer is loosing consistantly at that point.
-
This game has no fair matchmaking. Who told you it had?
-
I am still amazed that this things happen to you so regular, while a lot of player have that problem only rarly, all while you have the best internet connection there is.
-
I have 4 Survivors prestiged, and all to P3
- Claudette
- Meg
- Bill
- Jeff
They also got all the perks.
Claudette is my main, because i like to play invisible woman.
Meg is my aggressive char, i like her to run with ds and head on to get to the killer
Jeff is my teamplayer, which i mostly play in swf.
Bill is my Die Hard char, if i am in such a mood.
Yes, i have different chars for different playstyles, even though all of them could do the same because all have the same perks.

What does looping have to do with anything? I'm talking about how killers complain way more than survivors.
I think this thread is for comedic purpose, then? There are a number of threads were survivors complain about
- "enter name here" killers they dont like
- camping
- tunneling
- noed
- ruin/undying
- queue times
- other survivors using self care
- hit validation
- bloodpoints per match
- map reworks
- cross play
- killers nodding while they are hooked
- killers complaining
I only listed complains i think are unwarrented, so i ignored complains i belive are legit, like dcing or hooksuiciding teammates.
Also, the reason surivors "######### less" about changes is that the game even after a lot of changes is still survivor sided. It might change the closer the balance comes to actually being balanced.
-
Easy. Dont insult others. Thats enough.
-
Why? Because the balance for a lot of things like maps were changed in favor of the killer. And it is true, playing killer is easier than in the past. But that doesnt mean the game isnt still survivor sided. Lets just say the balance scale was shifted from 80% in favor of survivors to 65% in favor of survivors. Better than in the past, but still not at 50/50 where it should be.
Thats why the "its better than ever"- argument is true and still a strawman.
-
When i played killer and suspected an swf, i just asked them, and most people admited they were. Not always a full 4 players, but still. If people told me they were all solo, i had no reason to disbelive them. There is no advantage in pretending you were solo after the game.
The thing is solo players are able to make great plays, so they are suspected to be an swf, but they dont have to. You just have to be lucky and get a decent team, and you see why people think the game is survivor sided. But solo, you mostly get at least one potatoe, and the game is a loss if you play 3v1 instead of 4v1.
Thats why a decent matchmaking would be a big step to balancing the game.
-
to me, it depends. Usually i try to heal up, because i am way more comfortable being at full health. And as a stealth player, i can use the stun the killer takes after a hit to juke him, even if there are no pallets left.
But i wont let a mostly finished gen regress just to heal, i wouldn´t leave somone on a hook (unless the killer is camping and/or tunneling, because again i might need to take a hit there, and i dont just hooktrade).
So yes, i do if nessesary, but i dont like to.
-
1 play 100% solo and get "accused" of swf every now and then, usually if i get good teammates (and i mean good, they take risks for each other, they take over chases if the one chased is not very good at chases or hooked twice, and so on). Most of the time that happens, the other guys are an swf, most often 3, sometimes only 2. But there were cases were i got really excellent teammates and all of us were solo. But its quite rare.
-
No, they want a sure way to counter her, so they can handle her 1v1 in a 4v1 game. Also, in a lot of areas, the killer have to guess, and people dont like it if they suddenly have to.

And include too killers that let survivor take the hatch and red rank survivors against killers in green ranks
Wrong, devs said all game were red rank killers and therefore considered red rank matches.
Unless, of course, you have a different source than the devs, and talk about other statistics.
-
@valvarez4 said:
Of course is survivor sided. You only need to see last stats and how kill rate is only about 70%. And this was before undying
And why did you not mention that this includes a) games vs killers where surivors hooksuicide on first hook and b) were red rank killers, even if the survivors were in green ranks? I think this is a vital information to assess the information you have given, why did you keep the rest for yourself?
Yes, i think dbd is survivor sided. SoloQueue is bad neverthless, because a lot of survivors are just potatoes. I play mostly solo survivor (had played killer up until the mori change, but not now) and the biggest problem is that in solo queue you often have 1-3 ppl allergic to generators.
I belive a lot of matches with solo survivors are not won by the killer, but rather lost by the survivors.
-
No, because the survivors still have a huge advantage over the killer, making the game imbalanced. That it got better the last year doesn´t mean its finished.
-

A survivor version of a mori is a key that show the hatch aura and let you escape when you finish 1 gen
I disagree. A key helps you mostly if the game went badly for you, while a mori shifts the game balance hard into the killers favour.
The survivor version of a mori is swf.
-
A view from the other side. It happend to me, that i was in a survivor queue, and then something happens with my children, like waking up from a bad dream. to me, priorities are clear, and i even forget about being in the game while taking care of them.
However, when i come back i dont expect the killer to have any mercy with me. However, i had a killer coming to me as i was coming back, looking at me, and leaving me (i had the first crow already). While i dont expect that, it made for a fair game after i rejoined the team. That guy got my respect for not taking advantage of a situation he didn´t know about.

It just makes me so angry when dull totems are ignored when we now have Undying in the game. So apparently even NOED and Undying isn’t enough to get many survivors doing totems unless they’re running Inner Strength.
Not enough to do totems, but they are enough to demand a nerf for both.
-
@Dpooly said:
Because devotion level is a more accurate measurement of your game knowledge...it's way too easy to rank up just being a potato. Getting matches with people that share the roughly the same amount of play time would be way better than what we have now.
And why is that a good thing? I played about 90% of my overall play time as survivor. And if i try a killer, i have to face people with as much time as me in killer and survivor combined?
Ok, i just stopped playing killer anyway, but others might still do it.
-
You didnt mark if you had fun in the game!
-
Several times, usually when i play killer, either because i saw people with a perk like bbq or a gen with thrilling tremors, and then go to the one obvious hidding place in that area.
Other times when i play unusual builds, like hag with her addon where a) triggers don´t spawn phantasms and b) the one where she can teleport anywhere (together with hex:toth, Hex:ruin, myoc, and thinkerer/dragons grip) They really never know what hit them.
Or hag with her no-teleport addons, that a) make her faster and b) make her phantasm bodyblock you ^^.
As survivor, i am never suspected as hacker, but as a swf member. But most killers accept if you tell them you are not.
-
@Toybasher said:
WGLF and BBQ's point multipliers should be base-kit. WGLF's dying healing speed increase and BBQ's aura reveal would just be the new WGLF/BBQ.
Would reduce grind a bit.
Hell no. IT would make solo unplayable, because everyone would rush for an unhook to get the multipliers in addition to the points. A lot of games would boild down to some hooktrading and no gen being done. I had games like that, i dont need it permanently.
-
While i played killer, i am a survivor main. My opinion:
Moris sure needed a change, because the ability to remove just one survivor early from the game changed the game dynamic highly in favor of the killer, to the point where it became unwinnable for solo survivors (unless all of them were experienced).
However, moris now are basicly useless. The problem that comes from that is that other unbalanced parts of the game that could be handled with moris now can´t, swf for example. For a killer main that might not be the biggest problem, for part time killers it is.
The other thing that comes from that is a changed game dynamic. Since the change, i only met survivors that seem more confidant, and do gens why faster. My survival rate shoot way up. That might be just lucky random allies, it might be a trend. (But also coincidented with rank reset, so maybe it was just luck).
-
First of, the games you listed were the competition. They just did get stomped.
Second, try to find 10 people from both sides that agree how the game should look like and how it should be done.
I think there are a lot of different opinions what changes would be for the better of the game, as you hear complains about every change made so far, while most of them WERE better for the game (aside from the ruin-change i guess that could still be argued about in my opinion).
-
I think the issue of gen rushing comes from noed, because survivor who ignore everything beside those gens then call a perk you can easily disable if you dont stay on gens single mindedly "op". And this behaviour in turn was called "gen rushing".
-
@Huge_Bush said:
I see this a lot as well, it's caused me to get bitter and play more selfishly as well. If I find a key with plunderers, I hide it until the hatch spawns and adios! I'm out of there.
Want me to help? Show me you're a team player. If not, bye bye.
part of that is true for me. I dont risk too much for others anymore, because too often i die on first hook because they dont come to save you from a non-camping killer even if you have kindred. I still do hooksaves, lead the killer away, do gens, but i dont do hooktrades anymore, even if someone is on deathhook and i am not. because they leave you in the ditch anyway.
But if i get a key with plunderers, i hide it (becuase franklins and campers), but i play as normal, unhooks, gens, and if one die and the hatch spawns, i try to find it and gather all survivors there, so we all can get out. But i only give them one chance, if they dont want to come with me, they are on their own.
-
Hmm, looks as crappy as usual to me.
-
The strange thing about the broken key is that its the only item that does nothing on its own. I mean why?

Well, I knew it wouldn't take long to find the killer main who relies on this crutch build lmao.
Then take it from me, i am a survivor main that plays only solo: Do bones. its quite easy actually, because totemspawn is not nearly as random as some people seem to think. you can find the totems easy on most maps. You should just remember to cleanse any totem you see, even dull ones, right from the start (so undying just does less). Yes, there is the odd game where you cant find the last totem, it happens.
On the other hand, run detectives hunch, preferable with a map, because you sacrifice one perk slot to nullyfiy 2 perks of the killer. IF you face the combo as often as you claim, and you can´t remeber the totem spots, thats the way to go i think.
-
Define camping for me plz.
I had games where i hook a survivor, go to the other side of the map where i saw one with bbq, and he leads me back to the hook during the chase, and afterwards they tell me i was camping.
since then, i would like your definition to know what you talk about.

I'm not against stealth gameplay but I'm glad they're taking some of that away, too many people hide and don't do ######### the whole game its part of the reason people complain about solo q, when they go down some guy is scared to death urban evading half way across the map from you and not trying to get gens done or anything its like they play the game to wait for the hatch after everyone dies and anything that drives those people away from the game is fine by me id rather not play solo at all than to have those type people as teammates who lack the intelligence to do something as simple has holding m1 on a objective
But why are these worse than the guys that run around the map never touching a gen or an unhook just the same?

@konchok said:
I don't think making it mandatory would be good, but I do agree with an experience boost if one side gets to heavily favored. I also think this should apply to match making, if the game has to expand the search and you get paired with ranks that are much higher than you you should get a bloodpoint boost post game.
The problem is that a lot of people dont care about the bloodpoints, they care about fair games. Thats why fewer people are willing to play killer.
Extra bloodpoints dont change that. making it mandatory to play both roles would help a lot, since all people would learn about both sides of the game, and i believe it would change a lot discussions about whats op and/or fair in the game, and where the balance should be.
