  • Only ranks are not skill based, so matchmaking is a big problem if you want to balance around it.

  • The thing is the hatchet is one attack, one hit, one down.

The pinky finger is one attack, and on hit you did nothing all, but have to hit him again to get any benefit and the down. 2 attacks, and 2 hits.

What is so wrong about getting a nice boost each month? Like everyone is complaining about "more BP events" "one bloodhunt weekend every month" and so on. Now we get something which can be compared to a monthly bloodhunt and it again is like "moooooore"

Because people are greedy and want more.

  • Dude, bones are so hard to do. Especially if you are a survivor!

  • I report everyone who does this for working with the killer. Its a scummy move, just because someone plays in a way you dont appove. I agree that people that don´t do gens and help their team should not be matched with people who do (and i hope that changes with mmr), yet only because someone hides from the killer instead of running him in circles doesn´t legitimate such behaviour if they still do their part.

I am a stealth player, and this past week i had time and again games where people where allergic to gens and did not touch them. I had games where i did all gens myself, while the rest runs behind the killer with flashlights and hooktrades till they die. they are not any better for not hidding.

  • If swf was always intended, why wasnt it considered when perks were introduced that only resolve around people not being able to tell others stuff?

  • Well, thats what moris are for...oh wait, not anymore.

even UB DS has its flaws, it only becomes a punishing combo in late game, or at a major tipping point!

This is easily prevented by eating DS early, so UB has no opportunity to be used unless you are slugging everyone

Yes, but the same is true for undying + ruin. Early on, you can just do gens, and only in late game, or at a major tipping point you need to deal with them. Also, they are easily dealed with by doing bones.

I'd say Undying/Ruin is on the same level as DS/UB (before the nerf). I think most people know (even popular streamers) that Undying/Ruin was just too much. I think the nerf will make it perfectly balanced. It got what it deserved.

And yet, they dont get the same threadment.

  • @CashelP14 said:

Feel like your very particular with the way you wrote this lol

They changed Undying because it didn't fit the purpose they set out. Did they nerf it a bit too hard? Yes. However I feel like what they did was a very healthy change.

Perks like Devour Hope, Huntress Lullaby and Third Seal have been massively buffed. They now are more likely to be used because of this change. Also the aura thing makes sense because it just rendered Thrill Of The Hunt pretty much useless.

The worst case scenario was quite annoying but the other way where you had to cleanse 4 totems sometimes to get rid of Ruin was quite dumb. They're correct when they say Hex totems aren't meant to last the whole game.

Can't defend the fact they haven't changed DS yet though.

So, you think undying and Third Seal will see play? And if you go against an swf you play with just 2 perks...No, i dont think that combo will see play all that often.

  • Depends on what kind of person you are. I am a social person, and i see the folks on the other side as my fellow gamers.

But there are lots of antisocial gamers as well, who have a different view. You decide what or who you are.

  • And why should that be a good thing? The moris were completly different. A key comes into play only if the match is already done, and one side actually won. An early mori often was the reason that happened, because it can derail the whole game by shifting the game balance drasticly. Still, for a lot of killers (like me) moris were needed to keep up with swf. Thats why i dont play killer anymore.

Also, with your idea, closing the hatch cannot cause an egc, meaning the game will still go one forever.

  • @Aldofer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1865920#Comment_1865920

yea, those killer crybaby complain about key while they have easy game.

key are fine and should never be change as much killer main want it

Thats not at all what i said.

  • I actually belive keys are fine, and dont need to be changed.

Keys and hatches are one of the few things that keep solo survivors going, because there is still hope. Otherwise, they can at times just run up to the killer and get themself killed.

I would rather see keys unchanged and see some all-over-killer buffs, like a lot of the reworked maps (even though some of them went to far in my opinion; i am ok if you can either loop, or hide, and not both, but none is surly not the way to go).

I agree that killers need something, but keys usually only come into play if the killer won already (often due to a dc or something; its not always earned); insisting on the last kill seems kind of petty to me.

When i played killer, a 3k was as good as a 4k for me. But then, i don´t play killer anymore since the mori nerf, because mori was one of the few things i had to deal with swf.

SWF with a key is something different though, since they have the advantage anyway, and then a "what-if-i-fail"-option seems a little much. But for solos its needed, unless you want to turn every survivor into an swf player.

  • Well, i am a survivor main, but i used to play both sides. Now i dont, its just 100% (solo) survivor. Thats one reason i am carefull with survivor nerfs and killer buffs. But the last updates made me not play killer at all. And if i need a change, i play something else.

  • Well, since i keep stats again after the mori change, i can say that in my last 45 games BBQ was present in 9 games.

At least to me its far from overused. And while i know that its a small sample size, i do actually have stats of my games, and dont have to depend on me feeling its too many.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

easy answer: Text chat. you can't stop people from coordinating their loadouts and picking teammates before match but this is the best way to close the gap. now solo survivors will have the ability to say "99% the last gen, i have soul guard and adrenaline i'll distract him and get out with decisive strike. the guy with borrowed rescue me so i can body block. someone go to the exit before the generator is finished"

And how do you make them? Because the way i know the game, half the survivor will just answer "no".

Text chat doesnt make your teammates more reliable in any way.

He is not op? My cat can 4k with him using good addons and Undying+ruin+tinkerer

Are your cats posting this for you, too? That would explain a lot.

  • Being able to loop is not the only counterplay for killers. Only if you thread the game this way some killers become op.

  • Yeah, i am a pc player, and dont know the limitations of console players, sorry.

  • @Orionbash said:

"Ruin + Undying gets cleansed at the start of the match and then I'm left with 2 perks. Its soooo easily counterable."

Why do you care then? 🤔 Just apply pressure.

Simple. Because the fact that it is not op doesnt mean its not the best combo at what it does. A lot of other alternitives are just much worse.

Its like an election. Most of the time you dont get the best canidate for a given position, just the best of what was offered.

How would a survivor know that a teammate is running BT? Even then, how would a survivor who was running BT be able to avoid being tunnelled if none if his teammates had it?

Hmm, for me, the pregame chat works nicely, a lot of times. Sometimes not, thats true.

  • @Thasard said:

Undying was bad for the game and needed to be nerfed. If you thought it was fine, then you were bad for the game too.

Thats an opinion, not an arguement. Nice how everyone that doesnt agree with you is a problem too.

I disagree, and i play solo survivor 100% of my time nowadays. Undying is only a problem because lots of survivors want the game to be played only one way, and want to get rid of anything not in this line of play.

Also look at threads about self care, stealth, and killer that counter running in circles.

But i give an argument. Totem spots are easy to lern, i usually do totems during my games, and i dont have any problem with it. Even so, undying and ruin wasnt even a problem in a lot of games, because either the killer pressures gens and dont commit to chases, given the rest a lot of breathing room, or he did commit and gens get done anyway.

I find the notion do deny others their opinion very arrogant and toxic. And that is bad for the game, or so i belive.

  • You realize that post is a year old, right?

  • @DemonDaddy said:

I find it's my fellow survivors that were lacking skill. The combo only extended matches were survivors weren't focusing. It didn't change chase conditions, Grant a down, or impair progress while on a gen. The killer still needed to find 1, chase, and go for the hook. So if your team failed, it's on your survivor skills not a perk combo.

I think a lot of games are not won by the killer but rather lost by the survivors.

  • @Withered8 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1861676#Comment_1861676

Because it's utter nonsense to suggest killer was easier a year ago, if it truly was why have kill rates continuously been going up?

Just because one perk, ruin, was nerf but then technically buffed again and made even stronger with undying does not suddenly make killer 10 times harder unless you were relying on crutch things such as those.

I think it is because a lot of mediocre killer stopped playing, so its only baby killers or experienced once left. Babykiller is in advantage vs baby survivor, and experienced killers get more kills vs potatoe survivors.

  • @Raz_ said:

Eliminating someone before 4 gens are done is a guaranteed win for the killer, as Otz has proven. So in order to even have a chance of winning they at least must have an obsession. Every game without an obsession I played as both sides was an ez win for the killer: you just tunnel the same person to death by the time 2 gens are remaining and they don't have a chance of completing all the gens. This is why they absolutely need to add an obsession in every game.

Funny, i had matches (as in more than one) where 2 people where gone with 3 gens left (due to any combination of tunneling and dc), and still left with the other guy through the gates, because he was a decent player. Can you define "guaranteed" for me?

T bagging is something I did mid match on halo 3 regardless of who was winning or losing.

There are thousands of games out there with t-bagging and dbd is the only which has a community so upset over t-bagging, it's kind of insane really.

So you are a driving toxic element, and ok with it, with no regards to others, and still feel you are right. Talk about insane.

The problem with the MMR system is it's completely redundant. Consider the following:

    • We're told that the current system doesn't accurate match player skill. Fair enough, a universal point I think we all agree on.
    • The new system will better suited to matchmaking based on equal skill (a rating system essentially). Again, fair enough.
    • Now here's the issue, the new system is taking data from the old system to act as a starting point. Understandable, since it's need to have some data to go on. .
    • However, if the old system worked, then a new system wouldn't be needed. So, logically speaking, if the data being fed into the new system is "bad" as a by-product of the current matchmaking then surely the new system is going to be a complete shitshow? Surely it would make more sense to have fixed the current one instead.

Where did you get the info from that the new system takes data from the old system? That would be interesting, because it contradicts what the devs said.

They said the new system was running in the backround to get the data needed.

The main problem of the old matchmaking will be the same in the new, because of a critical error the devs make.

They decided to prioritize queue times over everything else. So in order to have faster matchmaking, they simply accept imbalanced matchups.

Thats a decision they make, and i belive it is the wrong one, and thats the reason the system won´t work.

Then people would thumbs-up at the Killer and they would come to the forum to call people toxic and tell us how unsuferable Killer is because they got thumbs-upped at the Exit Gate by the Squadette™, odds are if you get riled up by a crouching Survivor you are going to get angry about a thumbs up Survivor too. I mean, people got worked up badly when the crouching pointing bug was around so Im sure any other gesture will rile up people the same way.

The thing is that teabagging was invented as a way to insult defeated opponents, Thumbs up were not.

  • First of, survivors get a lot more points than the killer, its just split between for instead of split between one.

Yet I usually have my BPs near the killer, often even more than the killer, but a lot of survivors waste points.

    Want some easy tips?

Do bones. 1k BP per Totem, 1,5k per Hex, and next to noone else is doing them. Fast BPs too with just 16 seconds, compared to gens. Also protects from noed. Then a chase, and you are maxed out easy.

A save unhook gives you 1,5k BP, healing the survivor afterwards gets you additional points, but so is helping in other ways. 3 Unhooks and healing/cutting in a chase or taking a hit and you max out easy.

Gens: a gen only gives 1250 BP, so even if you do all alone you just cant max out. However, doing heals or gens with other people gives cooperation points, so doing 2 gens with someone else and one alone can max you out quite easy.

Survival. Yeah, here i have nothing to say other than to survive. 5k bp for that, and everything else depends on the killer. Some have things like rbt or traps that give survival points when handled.

Sure, i have the games where i am camped and tunneled, too, but usually i get between 18k and 28k, depending on how the game runs. If one side dominates (even if its survivors) the game is just to short to give much points anyway.

I can bet that in a month or two after this changes this forum will be full of "why so many spirit and freddy players????????"

And the cries for noed to be nerfed, since i think it will replace undying in a lot of builds, and people will still do no totems. The good thing about undying/ruin was that there were nearly no noed users. That will change again.

  • Well, i think undying was fine, people just still dont like doing totems. So now, undying will go away, and noed will take its place once again, and people will start crying about noed again.

But to be fair, since i already stopped playing killer (i played both sides, even though i am a survivor main) i dont really care. No change can make me play less killer anymore. But surely they dont make me pick up killer again anytime soon.

I don't think that survivors would lobby dodge because of a build another person is using. I couldn't really care less about someone else's perks. it already takes a long time for survivors to find a lobby, I don't think they would leave just because someone isn't running good perks. I am pretty sure that lobby dodging would not be a problem.

Go find one of the numberous threads about self care, and read how a lot of people feel about it. Then think again if they would lobby dodge.

Hell, i would lobby dodge if i see one running no mither, because there are very few no mither player that don´t go down fast or just dc if picked up for a hook.

To be fair, that how the survivor crys worked so far. You cry about a killer until he is nerfed, then the crys for the next killer start.

    An endless circle.

  • wrong reasoning. It only shows the devs are willing to nerf strong killer perks, that doesnt mean survivor perks get the same treatment.

It's entitled to stop playing a game if you can no longer play how you want?

Only if you deny it to others. There are killers that don´t want to play vs swf, and everytime it is suggested to give them that option, a lot of swf player revolt because they fear to be dodged.

So, one side should be playing like they want to, but the other side may not. I am not a native speaker, is there an english word for that? (real question)

  • That is the mentality for a lot of imbalance in this game at least.

  • @Xayrlen said:

Imagine playing a co-op game and expect people to not cooperate and not communicate.

The problem is not people playing together, the problem is that the whole game concept resolves around a lack of information. As a solo survivor, you dont know for sure if the killer is in a chase or sneaking up to you. You dont know for sure if he is camping (unless you run a perk for that), sometimes you dont even know who the killer is for quite some time. SWF with communication circumvent this.

problem with your Argument is that Bugs or exploints arent intended unlike the discord Server, right? and the Filters are infact not cheating, It's just a filter, the game isnt based on the darkness its about chases, gens and sometimes hiding but these Filter or talking with each other does not stand for being a cheater

And still i disagree. I know a lot of people mainly like the chase-aspect of the game, but for others it is a hide and seek game. And thus, taking this component out, it is in fact cheating. Thats why a lot of people say spirit is op, because it is good in that one aspect they focus on, not the game as a whole.

  • because they cant hit the skillchecks required to clean totems. Oh wait...

not arguing about the swf is strong Part, we all know swf is strong but saying its cheating is stupid. an argument against your voice com isnt a thing ingame, why is it the devs themselve created a discord for Players to Talk to each other while playing dead by daylight. In other words no swf is NOT cheating. No Developer would create a Big Platform to "cheat" right?

Yeah, i hear brightness filters to see better as a killer so that claudette cant hide and streched resolution to look over loops are not cheating either. Yet, there are people who believe otherwise, because, just like voice chat, there is a reason those things are not an ingame option.

Also, by your arguement, you actually validate another argument i heard. Using exploits is not cheating, because they were created by the devs, and its their responsibility. No developer would create spots only survivors or killers can go to to cheat, right?

  • @apathyinc said:

You can quit any time you want, just select "Leave Match" and it's done. But since there isn't a way to 100% identify a SWF, you could just end up quitting over every little thing that doesn't go your way, even if you were up against a bunch of solos.

Sure, i once played vs players with the names "chocolate icecream", "vanilla icecream" and "strawberry icecream" which where in each others friends list, but it COULD have been a coincidence and they played solo and just ended up in the same lobby. Like you said, there is no way to tell 100%. Very good argument.

  • I main survivor, and always have. But up until the mori change, i did play killer as well. Now, with no way for me to keep up with the unbalanced matches i get, i just play survivor exclusively.

  • For me, two reasons:

    1. i have a get-chased-daily and want to get some extra seconds
    2. I wait so all others get out too.

Thus, if i know all are safe that can be, i leave. No need to wast time.

That means if the killer comes to the gate, and one teammate is missing, i can still leave, because i know hes not in a chase.

(note that i play solo survivor, so i have no other way of knowing the situation of my teammates)

  • I dont know what all the "the game is easier for killers than 2 years ago"-talk is about.

I mean, yes, it is true, but the game being only 70% in favor of survivors instead of 80% still puts the killer at the disadvantage (beware, made up numbers!, just to show why it means nothing).

But then again, just under 50% is not my understanding of a "very low percentage".

  • @Shirokinukatsukami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1856310#Comment_1856310

First of all not everyone deranks. I run into a deranker every day but they are not the majority.

Second of all how many SWF are there in proportion to the Solo Q? The last official stat we got for that was a "very low percentage." And actually if my theory were true you'd see the opposite of what you expect: you''d see more SWF propportionally because the ones who already had easy games and got bored quit, so only the try hards are left doing SWF.

So I assume you believe that the game is easier now for survivors compared to 2 years ago?

Can you give me a source of your last official stat? Because the last one i saw, swf were about 50% of all games, so i have no idea where that "very low percentage" comes from.

  • First of, can you explain why people derank, if they dont like easy games?

Also, swf is basicly easymode, shouldn´t we see less of them if you are right?

Until the mori nerf, i used to play both sides (even though i played survivior the majority of time). Now i play survivor exclusive again.

And thats not because killer was too easy, but because swf got an advantage you cant handle if you dont have a main killer or play killer the majority of your time, aside from the matchmaking regularly placing me out of my skill level.

Also notice, that since the change, my survivor matches are way better than before. I think that is because a lot of player seem to play more active than before, even though i just got some games where no other survivor ever finished (or touched) a gen.

  • The one survivor might have carried the whole team, and yet he is going down with them. Would that be fair? No, it wouldnt, but fairness isnt the point at all.

One problem is that with no chance of winning, the past had shown us you will encounter survivor that go nowhere near a gen anymore. Welcome to your 1h+ game.

Also, if one survivor gets tunneled, or dcs, the game can be virtual over (sometimes without any affort from the killer, regular dcs do happen).

If there were no chance for an escape, people could as well just suicide.

Basicly, keys help the game going on, and yes, might turn a loss into a not that big loss (since usually only one or maybe 2 escape, the 3 or 4 man escape are really rare), while an old mori would turn a balanced game into an unbalanced very early.

I really don´t think keys need a nerf at all. (in my opinion, moris weren´t needed for keys, they were for swf, and that needs a nerf)

1 … 33 34 35 36 37 … 60
