You could certainly try but sadly as we know from solo life there's just no hope for some people. After all poor blendette can't be expected to leave her bush she doesn't fair well in the wild.

The only thing you can do going into a match as a solo is just hope for the best tbh but better together myn't be worth a shot.

As a blendette that does gens, latly often all alone the whole game, i see the problem more with that dwight over there in the locker and that nea that runs behind the killer with a flashlight just to fail the save, and the lauri that just runs in front of the killer throwing down every pallet.

  • @Ivaldi said:

Or you can just suck it up and play the match? Imagine if survivors were able to see killers and their respective addons mid lobby. A lot of you would never get matches if we played by these standards.

And people did when they could identify the killer with the log-files.

  • Yet, my premise was that they seperate the queues and then balance each seperatly.

You claimed that even under that circumstances swf would not find killers, and i want to know why.

While the things you said are true, they are no answer to my question.

Doubt they'd ever make separate queues for solo, as every move the devs make is with not splitting the playerbase up & not punishing anyone always in mind. Besides SWF would never get a match, no matter what bribery is used to induce killers to do so, myself included.

Can you explain why you wouldnt go against an swf if the match was balanced, and your chances of winning were the same than vs solo queue?

  • Blay both sides. You learn a lot about killers, their strength and their weakness. You can choose a killer you have problems with, you will learn how to play against them.

  • Well, it depends on the situation. i often run kindred, and i always try for save unhooks. However, if i come to the hook, and i see the killer proxicamping, AND no other survivor got time off gen, AND i know the hooked one is hitting the next phase soon, yeah, i try the unhook. He is losing that hookstate anyway, and i will always try to tank a hit for him. But if the killer is determined to get him, there is next to nothing i could do.

Seriously I don't get why I keep getting teammates that don't like doing gens like y'all scared of them or something?

Oh, i can explain: Because there are so many of them!

I had several games where all my teammates where genallergics. I think they repopulate after the mori-change or something, like their natural predator died out.

The point i'm trying to make is killers get a new meta perk that gets nerfed after 4 months, one of the best killers is getting nerfed, and survivors still want more. Maybe we aren't playing the same game here but i really don't know what the survivors on this forum want for killers.

Because you think of us and they. I am a survivor main, and i oppose the undying-change, i understand that freddy gets a nerf but hope it is not too much, and i think noed is fine. It dosnt reward bad killer plays, it punished bad survivor plays.

So, am i one of the survivors you talk about, or not? Well, i give you another answer to your question: What i want for killers is the same that i want for survivors: a fair match. (hint: wont happen for both sides until swf and solo survivors get sepereate queues).

Would you prefer to remove it for everyone and have people not being able to play the game properly? How would you feel if you had visibility problems and had extreme difficulty on this dark environment? I'm not saying that it can't be abused, I'm saying that it should remain for the people that wanna be able to play the game.

What do you mean, if? I started my first thread about colorblind support 2,5 years ago. BUT i understood that you could not implement it on the fly because it could be abused to an uninteded result. So i waited, and now it will come.

I just want a system thats not easily abused. Why is that a problem for you? I mean, i asked you a question, and you didnt even answer.

Can you specifiy what kind of visibility problem we are talking about? Because there might be different solutions, depending on the problem.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1890498#Comment_1890498

I agree with you mandy, but there are people that use filters because they're forced to, due to visibility problems (I have a friend of two with these). If they make it bannable they'll destroy every bits of trust with the dbd community imo

And how do you want to compensate for people abusing it? Whats your idea for that? It gives an unfair advantage, aka cheats, so how to handle that, in your opinion?

  • Still, it is a difference if they are used to compensate a disadvantage you have due to a handicap, or to use them to gain an advantage.

Yes, people use them for better visibility because they dont like to lose the survivor in a dark corner, even though thats what the dark corner is designed to do.

The fact that so many people defend this behaviour is an indicator to stop playing the game.

  • Best i can see the breakable walls, the gens and hooks on this Picture are hard to see (i missed the one on top completly, just found him because i knew where to look) Exit switch and Totem/Chest are fine, same with hatch.

I step in my own traps when i play trapper, because often i cant see the aura. On this picture they are better to see though.

When i played killers, on maps like ormond (as well as some other maps), i couldnt see hooks or gen auras at all. I had to search for them like a survivor. Since the map rework, they are a lot better to see. Scratch marks and blood are still a problem.

To me, the second gen aura looks like a pale yellow, no orange at all, the 3rd a light pink, the last one is actually what i see as bright red.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

So bhvr gonna ban me because I crank my TV brightness? Nice. Yes, darkness is part of a game, but I would like to ACTUALLY see something. New autohaven maps are just way too damn dark. If trend continues and they make everything way too damn dark I'm not blaming people for "fixing" bad dev design.

Are you really telling me you dump into things on autohaven because you cant see the wall in front of you? or is it more the survivor hidding in the grass you cant see that easily?

  • @lowiq said:

Good luck stopping people from cranking their monitors up to 100000% brightness.

This seems to be an issue caused by BHVR. If this PvP game wasn't so dark especially on certain maps, nobody would be changing their brightness. Keep the low brightness horror theme to PvE games.

How would you enable stealth play?

  • FIrst of all, i am diagnosted with Protanopie (Redblindness). You have to understand that there are differences from person to person how strong that is, however.

The second thing is a misconception i often see. I can see the color red. BUT i cant distinguish between colors based on the red part in them.

Basicly, while other people see colors shift from red to purple to blue, for me its either red or blue, but never purple. (i know which shade of blue might be purple, but i cant tell).

So the answers might be true for me, but not for others.

That's why while I'm glad the options for people that need them are getting added this whole situation just seems like a lot of damage control instead of something they actively wanted to do.

I doubt that you can develop a decent color scheme over night. I fully believe that they have been working on it. The first thread i opend about colorblind support was about 2,5 years ago, and at least their answer was clear: While they would like to do it, the priority wasnt very high, maybe because too few people were affected. But maybe that changed.

    @MongolPSR said:

question. Forgive me because I have damn near perfect colour perception but how do those colours shown help people who are red colour blind? I can kind of get the orange one, but what about using other colours like green or blue? why different shades of red and then orange?

When i started playing, there was an event, beach party or whatever, where event gens and hooks were actually blue. They were the best ^^.

However, all options above are better for me than the default. Funny thing, the Protanope filter isnt the one i can see best ^^.

But i have to observe them ingame, it might change then.

    @Sandt21 said:

Can anyone tell the difference between Default and Tritanope? They look identical to me. I don't have colorblind problems, so if I did it would probably look completely different if i did, but right now, it looks the same to me

To me, the default one is much harder to see. The Tritanope one is just...redder, red enough to be seen by me.

Out of interest, can you name the colors the gens have on the other filters? Someone mentioned orange, but i dont see any orange there.

  • Wow, thanks for posting that. I started my first Colorblind-Thread 2,5 years ago...and finally we will get those auras.

And it would be nice to finally see some scratch marks...

    Now i am thrilled ^^

An Ultra-Rare offering that prevents Hatch from spawning until there is only one Survivor left.

Sawblade~ Allows Survivors to sacrifice a pallet to put up a breakable wall in a doorway. There would be a short channel of breaking down the pallet and building the wall.

Ah, then we could also have an ultra-rare offering that a survivor can´t be put on the 3rd hook unless every survivor was hooked twice.

Might be an improvement on the game. And moris might become intresting again.

Because your acting like scummy accessibility abusers should be thought of before the people the accessibility is actually for

    And thanks

Well, because it should? OF Course they have to think of it being abused before they implement it.

Also, there is a difference between "should be seen" and "should kind-of vague be seen, but not clearly".

  • But bad ones. Hidding should be viable, not only running in circles.

  • @IronWill said:

I play both sides (survivor more than killer cause I just don't like killer that much) still playing killer is 100 times easier than survivor (I am red rank in both roles and only play Ghostface as killer). I really don't get all the killer whining, since I 4k most of my games with a killer that has 0 map pressure.

I used to play both sides as well, but killer just got too hard for me. So i play survivor only again, at red ranks. My current survival rate (i keep track of my games currently) since the mori change is over 80%. So, by your logic, survivors dont have anything to complain, too. So undying don´t need a change as well.

Or neither of us is a good example for the average player, and our experience should not be the measurement, no matter how easy we find certain roles.

  • I dont consider genrush or looping toxic (just boring), but tbagging is designed as an insult. So people should not be insulted by insults. Is that true if someone gives you the finger (i hope that is right, i am not a native speaker)? Because hey, you should not be triggered by someone showing you his extremities, right?

Teabagging is designed as an insult. The intend is to insult. And that is toxic.

Ah...Ok? As much as I can't really remember anyone, not even once, saying she was bad, she is not even close to being one of the most counterable killers. At all. If you want to have a chance of countering her, and mind you, I said a CHANCE, you need a perk (Iron Will). You don't really counter Spirit, it is the killer that makes mistakes. Cause, you know, you can't really counter what you cannot see. Not reliably. And no killer should ever be countered by a perk alone.

But i remember. When a new killer comes out, there are nearly always 2 Topics: "Killer is op, he needs a nerf", and "killer is bad, he needs a buff". Both steam from the killer being new and people dont know how to play as or against him.

The problem is that noone ever gives a solid definition of what counterplay actually is.

Should a survivor be able to always handle the killer in a 1v1 situation, in a 4v1 game? I think not.

Yes, spirit can´t be looped, but she can be juked, i do it again and again if i play with her. yes, i often her thats just the average spirit, but you cant with a top spirit, and that might be true. But whenever it comes around balancing around top players, that is usually marked as a bad idea, so i dont understand why spirit is different.

I think a lot of complains come from the fact that a lot of survivors only like the chase aspect of the game, and thus hate killer that have an upper hand in this part of the game, and ignore that there are other parts as well.

I actually like the fact that you have to play vs different killers in a different way, that one works with looping, from the other one you have to hide. But a lot of players dont.

  • I cant blame you.

When i started playing the game, i was a teamplayer, even willing to sacrifice myself for the win of the team.

Then i played with other survirvors.

    I experienced:

Saving people while running aftercare, and when i was healing, the uninjured guy led the killer to me to get rid of him.

I steped into a trap and the survivor who was chased run to me so the killer would switch targets

multiple times where survivors didnt heal me, to body block me when the killer came so he would take me as easy target

multiple times saved people from hooks just to be left while the killer was not camping (thats mostly swf)

found a key in a chest, run the killer for 4 gens, then the 3-swf i played with let me die on hook to take the key and get out. Told me afterwards because i was useless since i didnt repair gens.

several times i died on first hook with all other survivors alive while running kindred and the killer was not camping

people intentionally bodyblocking me near the exit when the killer came so "he gets at least one kill"

several people that let me die on hook after i saved them with only 2 people left alive

Countless games where 2 survivors are left and i always get found because i am the one still trying to do gens, while the other one just hides

several people vaulting near me to alarm the killer because i was cleansing a hex totem and they wanted the points for it

running the killer around my hiding place mutliple times so the killer would see me eventually and down me, since i was injured.

countless games where i was slugged, healed up as much as i could, and other survivors just hid till the killer came back instead of healing me, since an unhook gives more points

countless games of being hookfarmed in front of the killer (sometimes after leading the killer back to the hook so none else could unhook) while not running bt or taking a protecitve hit or something.

several times where survivors trapped me in a corner till the killer came

several times that a survivor pointed out the locker i hid in in front of the killer.

People running before me and dropping paletts in front of me so the killer gets a hit...

I belive that a lot of survivors are way more toxic than any killer. A killer at least gets an advantage from camping and tunneling, some survivors just want to be toxic.

However, i stopped playing the way i did. No more protective hits if the killer comes back while i unhook you (although if i see the killer, i wont unhook and try to lure him away). No big risks to help others. It took some time, but i learned my lessons.

  • Do you have the same problem with survivors that loop at 0 hooks?

I just gotta say that I had to morbidly chuckle at this one "system to detect intentionally suicides and accidental ones" I know it can happen but the idea of an "ACCIDENTAL SUICIDE" is weird to hear... but I really do back you on this post you are correct in many things here THANK YOU!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/220715/penalty-system-for-survivors-that-kill-themselves-on-hook

Oh my you found the real problem here! yes you did and you know exactly how to know another person's mind OH PLEASE SHARE! we all want to steal the patent for this device to know this! oh yes.... lets punish people for using in match functionality. you have a choice to struggle or not, you have a choice to try and get yourself off the hook. if you didn't then slippery meat would not work nor would deliverance! but yes let's blame people for their choices without knowing anything more. please tell us more of your "CUNNING" plan to stop giving people choices.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1884965#Comment_1884965

really? you sure? how much time can be before your ideas reset? so if i play one survivor game a day i can do this every day without question? what about if i play survivor then killer then survivor? will it stop because i've only played 2 survivor games within 3 games? how about I play 15 killer games, 1 survivor game and then the next day i play 2 survivor games at the start will that trigger your system? AGAIN this is IN MATCH functionality where a player can choose to do something or not, you can not penalize that otherwise will you then punish a survivor for blowing a gen too many times? can't have more than 1 missed skill check in a match! nope gotta be good at that if you miss two or more you're penalized! WOO HOO!

What is so wired about accidental suicides in this game? I for one use a keyboard makro to struggle, and yet i sometimes die on the hook by accident, because the game didnt register or some connection were lagging.

  • The most important thing to do is to find your own playstyle.

i have over 4k hours, and still suck at looping. But i got good at juking killers, meaning that while i dont extend the chase as long as other runners, my chases often dont end in me being hooked, but the killer wasting more time searching for me until he seeks somewhere else.

For some player, looping and chases are the only part of dbd. But it really is not.

  • When i hook suicide, its usually because my team is just bad, usually they are hookfarming, unhooking you in front of the killer without regards how you get out of this situation, 4 hooks with noone working on a gen, people doing noise to alert the killer because you found the hex totem and they want the points, and the list goes on. If it happens to you that often, maybe you are just a bad teammate, and people dont want to play with you.

  • Favorite:

Hag (just like her scare factor, and the fact that she has addons that modify her ability in a way that completly change her playstyle. 3 in 1 killer)

Spirit (game feels smoother with her than a lot of other killers, its simply more fun)

Those are my favorite, the rest is a tie between Deathslinger, Wraith and Doctor.

I dont like looping (chases are ok, lossing the survivor in a chase too, but just running in circles is boring), so i like playing chars that can ignore it.

    least favorite:

    Demo (just boring)

Bubba (other than i want to play basement camper)

    Plague (also boring)

But at the moment, i don´t play killer anyway, thats just what it used to be for me.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1882482#Comment_1882482

Would be nice to play against those Spirits, it sounds like they were bad. I'm not exactly a god spirit or anything, I'd hesitate to even say I'm a good spirit. But even so I find winning with her much easier than most of the roster.

But I have also seen some bad Spirits. I personally know people who are so bad at the game even Spirit doesn't help too much. There's just exceptionally bad players is all.

To be fair, in those 60 games my escape rate was about 80% so far, and 4ks in general were rarer than 0ks. But its just my experience, and certainly a lot of rng is involved, since i only play solo, and a lot depends on what allys you get. But even then, its a small sample size with no statistical impact other than my own performance.

  • @MrPenguin said:

Yeah I pretty much had the same experience when I played Spirit for the first few times. The difference between her and the other killers I usually play was staggering.

My Spirit main roommate was around at the time and I remember laughing the whole time and saying things like "Whatchu gonna do, I'm Spirit. Now watch me outplay you by standing still." We had a good time which almost never happens playing any other killer.

I don't really like her as a character though, so I rarely play her. But she's my go to if I feel like just having easier games.

She really does just take a small amount of game sense and hearing. It's a nice break from the headache playing killer usually is. Although I'm sure the survivors weren't exactly thrilled about it.

Would be nice to play against you. The last couple of spirits i played against never managed a 4k, the highst was one with a 3k, and that one was heavy into camping and tunneling. Still didnt get me. Most of the other spirits just got 1k, while the rest escaped. but to be fair, i only encounterd 5 spirits in my last 60 games, and thats what i kept stats of. And yes, 4 out of 5 spirits did run stidor, yet i was able to juke them even injured multiple times.

Most people just dont know how to play vs spirit, other than trying to run in circles like every other killer.

  • Well, of course the opposition are people, they are your fellow gamers, show them some respect.

That doesnt mean you are responsible for their fun and have to play a certain way, but to thread them with respect outside and inside the game.

However, i have seen killers that try to make the game bad for survivors, but i have seen just as much killer that go out of their way and give up advantages to avoid tunneling for example.

However, i see much much more toxic survivors than killers.

  • No, they need the killers to taunt. They just dont want the killer to be able to win.

  • I have no idea. I got the basic games, all dlcs except Ash and Pig. What does that add up to?

  • Hmm, will streched resolution help me vs the killer on the reworked map?

  • Not representative, but in the last 55 games, i played vs Freddy 3 times, which 1, 2, and 4kills.

  • No, but i consider none of the A and below type especially strong, the one above, i do.

  • @SweetTerror said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1878694#Comment_1878694

Killers just naturally earn far more blood points than survivors. Not only is it also easier to get stacks of BBQ than WGLF, but the blood point add-ons are also far easier to come across in your blood web than it is for survivor.

So like I said they try to entice you into playing killer since it rewards you with more blood points, but the general experience just isn't worth it.

Thats simply wrong. Killer dont earn more than survivors, survivors ignore a lot of bp they could make.

I play solo survivor, and i have often more bp than the killer. But then, i do totems, i do unhooks, and i do gens, and i do chases, and in most cases, i escape.

Being solo also means genrush is not that common, and longer games mean more bp.

  • Why make such a list? you could have sum it up just by saying you dislike playing against strong killers that can win.

  • What about me? I say: i cant see that a perk with that many counters is a problem at all, since it is quite easy to counter most of the time. Sometimes by even staying on a gen, unless you are one of the gen-allergics, afraid to come near one.

  • Its not about red auras on gens. Before the map revamp, i could not see any aura on ormand. I had to walk around as killer and find those gens like survivor do, not using the aura at all.

  • The thing is, in most cases you see a key, you know its not a 3 or 4 swf, usually. Because for 4 people, you need to do everything else anyway.

At the moment, i bring a key every match, because i got over 250 of them, and soon they might be useless. (i used a mori every game as killer for months, since it was announced they were looking at them), but then, i am a solo survivor.

In the worst case, you tunnel out the solo survivor while the 3 man swf just finish gens and escape with the key of the solo guy.

And moris were something completly different, a key helps some survivor escape a game they already lost. The killer won, same way as if they all were slugged and bleed out. A key is a backup plan, but never makes the difference between a win or a loss. In a game you win, you dont need the key. In a game you lost, you might escape, but lost anyway.

A mori, however, is the item that often won the game in the first place, and is a completly different powerlevel. I am still not clear if i like the mori change. On one hand, they were op as hell, and needed a nerf. On the other hand, it was needed to handle good swf, since it helped to negate their advantage.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

Look, if I want to enter a locker, I will STARE STRAIGHT AT IT.

I've gotten killed twice tonight because I was running past a locker, went to vault, and the space bar caused me to enter a locker I didn't even know existed.

This is crap. I should not enter a locker I have my back to. If I can't even see the locker in my field of vision then space bar should not enter it.

What if you want to use deception? Do you expect a survivor in a chase to use that fake-it perk to stop running, face the locker and then start running again? doesnt make sense.

  • To be fair, i am redblind, but with the reworked maps, i can actually see gens, even on Ormond, which was the worst map to see gen auras for me. They made the auras somewhat stronger, easier to see, at least for me.

Yeah, and i will most likly never see blood in this game, and while that is a disadvantage, its not as bad as not seeing genauras.

  • Well, i play 100% of my games solo, so i am only morally obliged to play against solos. Give me that option, i will reconsider playing killer again.

But i am not playing against swf without a way to keep up, thats why i got back to survivor only after the mori nerf.

  • @scenekiller said:

A lot depends on who your teammates are, honestly. Observe what your team's strengths are. You have to be a chameleon who adapts to the flaws of the people you're playing with.

Can they not hold chases for long? Try to be the one that diverts the killer's attention.

Are gens not getting done but they're holding their own? Be the gen jockey.

Kindred is a must-have perk, and lately so is DS for solo qs, though I didn't use it for a long time.

Also, know the hook statuses of your teammates. If you haven't been hooked yet and you know someone on their death hook is gonna go down, try to take that one for them to prolong having 4 survivors as much as possible.

While the last is a good tip, i stopped doing that. I did that a long time, just to be the one trowns under the bus time and again, especially if the others were swf. Because if they already on death hook, they simply wont come to your rescue, even against a non camping killer.

  • I play solo 100% of the time, my current escape rate since the mori nerf is around 80% (most likly won´t stay there after the rank reset, since you get too many potatoes till you hit red rank again), but i do get to rank 1 often. I usually dont stay there, and end up somewhere between 2-4, all depending what teammates you get.

I'm saying I don't have much of a problem when I play killer. Most killers seem to want super easy games. The game is pretty balanced at the moment.

Funny thing though, i keep stats of my games, and since the mori nerf my survival rate is over 80% in red ranks.

After rank reset you get some potatoes again, where people avoid gens and stuff, but once i hit red ranks again, i barly lose.

But to be fair, the kill rate % for each (0-4 kills) in my personal games are each very close together, and all around 20%(+/- 2%)

Just out of intrest..is freddy as well pay to win for the people who bought him when he was bad?

  • I Just have an excel spreadsheet.

I track the map, the killer, killer rank, Killer perks, number of kills, whatever he was camping or tunneling by my standards, number of gens done, and for all survivors rank, perks, and items, and whatever or not escapes included hatch and/or keys, as well as dcs and hooksuicide (and note if i think it was a genuine dc, because those happen too, but far less than the "got downed-dc". Also i have a comment-category where i keep track of things that make the game "special", like games where they only hookfarm, dont do gens, instaddown addons and stuff.

I would like to also note number of hooks, because i think gens done vs. number of hooks is a better metric to analyse game balance instead of just kills vs escapes, but i usually cant remember how many hooks happen.

  • Lol, not even close. Thats not only a stupid "them-vs-us"-mentality, its also simply wrong.
