What I noticed is that the better you play, the less toxic survivors are. If you confidently win, then, of course, they may still complain and insult, but to lesser extent. Killer is a more demanding role, so if you're not playing good and trying to be nice, then you may end up being disappointed with both losing and getting insulted in chat.

I was also confused on why do some survivors insult, when they played good and all escaped? Probably, it's something in human nature, some people enjoy piling on someone else's misery. If there was no misery and you destroyed them in game, there will be nothing they could pile on.

Even better, camp and tunnel hard. If you do that, most players are already gone until the game ends for you and the last survivor.

At least that what i found. If i tunnel them out, there is less toxic talk after that.

  • I play stealthy, and it works well for me. The hate comes from people who hide and do nothing, while i often do the most gens, the most unhooks, and often be chased and just juke the killer and escape.

However, one big problem is the rise on graphic filters that allow to bypass the visual element that is meant to hide you from the killer. The more streamer use them, the more stealth really is dead, leaving a boring gameplay of either holding only m1 or running around in circles.

  • I would be willing to give the dc penalty up for karmic matchmaking. But that might not be the best for the game.

  • Who allowed you to talk on my behalf? I am a solo survivor main, and i want the dc penalty, because less dcs make for more matches that actually play out.

They really needed to be nerfed...

I will say this though, the nerf is really lazy and I wish they gave them a better change.

I agree that they needed to be nerfed. Its just bad that the issues why killers used moris still persist and are not adressed.

But as long as people are not acting on it, it doesn´t matter anyway.

So I tried it. One gen to go, three fully healed teammates, I'm the only one injured and doing gens, as always. It's been eight minutes. One person has died. One is slugged, the other just got hooked. He immediately closed hatch because of course one of my teammates I'm sure was camping it.

I could be 8 minutes into waiting for my next game by now.

I just do not see how refusing to work on gens isn't playing the game.

Happens to me too, time and again. A lot of survivors are allergic to gens, mostly because "gens are boring" and they "just want to have some fun". But if it doesnt work out, they call the killer op and complain about not having enough bloodpoints.

  • Just learning to loop is a very single minded approch to the game, but the favorite thing for a lot of players. If you overly relay on looping, you have problems with killers that can´t be looped easy, leading to complains about killers with no counterplay from people who just dont know how to do anything else.

My way for getting better as survivor was to play as killer. The more problem i had with a killer (at that time nurse and billy, way before nurse were nerfed) the more i would try them out. Their weaknesses become obvious to you, and you learn to counter them easy.

  • Then the devs are lying about their system. What do you propose we do about it?

  • @999 said:

Sheesh I have countless clips just like these two but if it's ever brought up all I get in return is "cry more" or "just get good" lmfao. It forces you to misjudge taking a vault or dropping a pallet ultimately resulting in you dying when you shouldn't have. It's to the point where I've had to sacrifice two perk slots as staples for every build I run, those being Spine Chill + Resilience just for the tiny percent extra speed when vaulting in hopes that just MAYBE I won't get slapped after taking a few steps after my vault lmao, it's a ######### joke

Thats the funny thing. Some people like you have countless clips, while i encounter that problem only once in a while. So maybe it is your connection?

A network-connection consists of more than ping response times, and doing a ping check after a lagspike tells you nothing at all. So all of that is no evidence for whatever, to be fair.

Funny thing, my internetprovider just changed something in their network, and since then at certain times i experience lags. The support told me to use their remote tool to provide readings on the problem. Only it never shows a problem, because during a lagspike, it cant be reached, and the moment you reached it the spike is gone, and the readings are fine.

I know a lot of people always say: "i got a good connection , the problem is not on my side" not realizing what makes a good connection, and why even good connections can have lagspikes.

  • Devotion 17 - 49. 4665 hours are shown on steam, but when i started playing, i havn´t upgraded my system yet, so when i started dbd and ended it, i could only relaunch it after i rebooted my pc. Thats why i started the game, played some, and then left the game running in the backround for some hours till i needed it again. So its not exactly accurate.

  • And usually its either NOED or Ruin/Undying, seldom both. So people argue its "boring" because ppl run one, and the other (that is not even that common anymore) needs a nerf because people can´t be bothered with doing bones.

Also, almost all killers are "boring and unfun to face", especially if they can´t prevent being just run around in a circle.

I do see a pattern, does someone else?

  • I disagree. Being a guessing game is part of the core game, and it should stay that way. Otherwise, why not simply play swf to begin with?

  • exactly my thought! (the EULA-Thing, not the attorney thing)

yes, that is also the change i would suggest for Undying.

i never really understood why they added that to begin with tbh, Undying is supposed to protect your Hexes after their destruction, but right now it just protects your Hexes, your Dull Totems and gives you free map info and tracking on Survivors...

Can you name any survivor perk that has only a use in conjunction with another perk? Because thats what you want to create, a perk that does nothing on itself, and only works in conjunction with another perk, while both perks can be countered.

  • @AzazelTheFallen said:

You don't really need Appraisal, I just put on Plunderer's and I find a key 7/10 games

That is either overstating or i am just unlucky. I run plunderers for months now in my solo survivor build, and i only get a key every 3-4 games. Do you buff the skill otherwise (coins for example), or do you just run plunderers? With all the dcs and hook suicide in solo queue, its just a good way to keep playing. otherwise, the alternative is to rejoin swf, but thats more boring because of how unbalanced it is.

  • So , you complain about undying + ruin AND camping? If the killer camps, Ruin does nothing. You just finish your gen, and go for the unhook then. Only if you are greedy for the unhook points you let alone your gen. Also, its just 5 totems, easily done. Just do them all, not just the hex totem, as then the hex cant be transfered to a totem you already destroyed.

  • @FattiePoobum said:

    I wouldn’t complain

because if l am looping you round a hooked survivor, you were probably camping them in the first place.

or l dive bombed and therefore deserved to be camped.

On a side note l haven’t come across to many killers that would pick up a downed survivor next to a hooked survivor anyway.

I had games where i hooked someone, saw someone else with bbq on the other side of the map, go over there, start a chase with that survivor, and he runs me right back to the hook, while another one wants to unhook. And after that i got called a camper...

Here's a thought... don't let other people affect you? I grew up a long long long long time ago (1970's)… before Political Correctness was ever a thing and you know what I got from that - Thick skin. Some random person on the internet calling me any name - just reinforces to me that they are an insecure person. Survivor(s) being stupid and bullying - I'll laugh at the end when you get half the BP that I do.

I could honestly not care any less about the actions or words of random people on the internet. Their antics are funny because its so over the top stupid and will affect their progress way more than mine. Letting a game or its players anger you is a waste of your emotion. It's literally just a game... it is not real life. Stop giving people power over your emotions. That's all I can say to hopefully help you some.

Ähm, no? We live in a society, and are part of that games community. I think its the right move to call such behaviour out and try to change it.

And while i agree with you a little about the Thick skin (born in January 1974 myself ^^), i belive that ignoring such problems just make them worse (as we currently see in many parts of the world). Because even in a game a tone can be established that then takes their part in the real life.

To adress the topic: The problem is that too many players play only one side of the game. They tend to forget that the opposition is their fellow gamer, and not an enemy they need to overcome. Just be respectful yourself, and call out bad behaviour (even if not directed at you). Their mother havn´t taught them manners, so the community have to call out that behaviour.

  • Honstely, i dont think keys are that bad. It gives solo survivors a chance that are screwed over by their teammates. Also, the game ends at least. When i played killer, i didnt care about a 3k or 4k, because both meant i won big anyway.

  • To each their own. I have the opposite experience. I stopped playing killer after the mori nerf, and play 100% survivor again.

And the games get a lot better. It seems that people don´t play as safely as before since the mori nerf. Unless someone dc´s or hooksuicides, its actually an easy game as solo survivor at the moment.

But then, it might just be luck for a few days.

  • Yes it is. With the current mori change, i am back to playing 100% survivor. Before that, i could use moris to deal with toxic swfs, but with no option against them anymore, i just don´t play killer at all anymore.

And i am not the only one. And with no killers, there are no games, with few killers, long waiting times for survivors.

  • Well, play killer then and show them how its done. Tell us about your experience after 50 games at red rank, how about that?

  • Yeah, so the survivor don´t have to.

  • The problem with solo survivor is, that a not-so-small number of them are allergic to gens. So either you do gens alone, or you are in a chase and no gens get done. Happens to me time and again in solo queue. The last game that happend i finished the first gen alone, was then chased around while 2 gens popped, and then finally caught and hooked. I got unhooked, healed myself because the "rescuer" run away, and did the last two gens start to finish, while all 4 ppl were alive. Then, i got downed again (because i was the only one on a gen, and the killer just came as i finished the last one) and the rest got out, not even trying to rescue me from a no-noed - non camping killer.

You are not helpless, i agree, but you depend a lot on your teammates.

  • I dont think i had. I had the problem with addons. I like playing bodyblock hag with her addons that prevent her from teleporting, but make her faster and her phantasm solid and able to bodyblock. Hag is not a character you often encounter, and less so with that configuration. I was accused as hacker several times using that build.

  • Well, there are different playstyles you can use in this game.

I play stealthy, but i do gens and totems and unhooks. But to me, chases are boring, because a lot of them consist of running in circles that you cant even mindgame. So not every player want to play that way.

The game should support different gamestyles. Thats why killer that counter loops are not op by themself, because a different playstyle allows you to bypass their strength. Giving perks that completly nullify one playstyle would be very op. A perk that let you detect any survivor at a certain range would be as bad as one forbidding survivors to run.

The fact that you (or even a lot of players) find a playstyle boring doesn´t invalidate that. See camping. Legit strategy, and yet people complain about it. You are just one of them from the other side.

  • We do. And we win. Thats why you dont like it.

In most of my games, i have more bp than the killer or my teammates, because i am the one doing gens and going for unhooks, and breaking totems. I just dont get in a chase if i can help it.

How is that not playing the game, can you explain?

  • Every com allows you to know if you are in danger on your gen or not. It allows the guy being chased to lead the killer away from all the gens being worked at. It let the others know if a safe unhook is easy or if the killer is camping, and with comms, seldom 3 ppl rush to the rescue.

This advantages may not be big on themself, but they add up. Also, i belive 10% is a lot. My actual suvival rate as solo survivor is around 75% (i kept stats for some time). But when i played swf, it was way higher, since i seldom died. And thats true even though we had 3 players that were mediocre at best, and one good looper.

  • The problem is not that swf exist, it should. The problem is that the game is not balanced around the advantage you get from it.

  • @FattiePoobum said:

When l play killer l tunnel

these new designed maps have so many dead zones in them if l hook someone in that area l don’t see why l wouldn’t tunnel them.

l dunno if they did it intentionally but some of these maps are so open l don’t blame a killer for tunneling.

But without deadzones you would go for a target you have to hit twice instead of once, because without deadzones it would even be harder?

    Or would you tunnel anyway?

  • Well, take a team without any means of communication in this game, on whatever skill level they play.

Then, give them communication. IF you dont believe that their performance, on whatever skill level they play, is improving, i think you are very underrating the impact of swf.

also with your same argument, moris didn´t need a change, because not every killer used them. Sure, there were the one that hooktunnel of the first hook, but they were rare, and maybe could have won without the mori.

Something unbalanced is not balanced through being rare.

  • @Stealth said:

Haha ya that's the problem, not enough killers. I used to be a killer main but I'm more 50/50 now. Being chased by a killer is more relaxing than than being the killer. Things are very sweaty in red ranks as well and sometimes I need a break from toxic ######### heads I go up against xD.

I used to be 70-80% survivor, and a little bit killer. Now, i am back to 95% survivor, with the odd game of killer sprinkled in. But if i have to deal with toxic swfs, i just go afk until i get banned.

  • I admit, the mori change was needed because they were op. But what about the other side of the equation? There is a very broken and op part on the survivor side, that is not being adresses. And thats swf. And i doubt that it ever will be adressed, but its the most broken and unbalanced part of the game.

And this disparity in adressing issues is what some players have a problem with (i for one, and i am a survivor main who used to play killer every now and then)

  • To be fair, the fact that a mori change was coming was known for some time. I haven´t played a killer game without an ebony for months, because i wanted to use them all up and had so many on so many killers. While the time and way of the nerf was unannounced, its coming was known.

  • You are right, moris were op and needed a nerf.

And you know what? SWF is also op and need a nerf. But since that will never happen, moris were one way to cope with that.

Now its completly unbalanced in survivors favor.

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1806770#Comment_1806770

I've never heard of a survivor main that only plays killer with a mori. Even if they did they arent good for that sole reason and most likely dont know to do a simple moonwalk mindgame.

This is fair I'll give it to you.

I was. Because i started playing killer only to learn about their weakness. But the thing is, a not neglectable number of survivors are ######### carried by bad matchmaking and/or swf, trying to make your game as unfun as they can. I know you dont belive they exist in not marginal numbers, but maybe you are just lucky or play in a different region. I encountered them regularly when i played killer for challanges or dailys.

So yes, i started using moris all the time to handle the bad matchmaking pairing me against much higher skilled players and swf. And since i dont knew who were an swf beforehand, i used them all the time.

Now, i just stop playing killer till the game is fairly balanced (which i dont expect to happen) and play survivor exclusivly again. And if i want a break from survivors, i just play something else.

In fact, i play this game less and less, and while i got all the dlc´s (except the saw one) and a few outfits, i won´t spent any more money on this game. It might change if they fix the matchmaking, but i honestly don´t think they have a clue how to do that. I believe its next to impossible to balance around both swf and solo survivor while keeping the core of the game intact. They can buff solo survivor to swf level informationwise, but that does not make other solos reliable, and it will destroy a core element of the game i actually like about it.

  • IT depends on what you want to do. You can be a solo survivor and still try to be part of the team, but often you will be sacrificed so others escape, especially if you play with a swf team.

You can try a "i survive"-build, that helps you to survive even hook suicides and dcs in your team.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

Yeah, I say this many, MANY times.

"This is the reason survivors start being jerks to killers."

And you can say it many many times more, and still be wrong. Its not one side, and the other just reacting.

It might be a circle, but survivors have so much power in this game (especially over new killers), and some like to show that.

  • Either you find the blendettes anyway, then you dont need a mori for them. IF you don´t find them, it is no use to you.

  • In what way was Appaisal nerfed? (i just dont know, and people complain without saying what changed)

  • I still keep playing survivor. I thought that still is playing the game...

Either my english is that bad that people don´t understand that i only done with playing killer, or several forum user can´t read that well.

  • @selflessnea said:

Have fun never playing again then. <3

I dont understand that comment. Can you explain?

  • @Flawless_ said:

They said keys are next. Calm the fuxx down. Also if you feel like Moris are necessary to win you should really rethink the way you're playing killer.

I've been very critical of the devs' recent, very questionable, decisions but I thank them for getting rid of this cancer, it's definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully it doesn't take them 6 months to rework keys considering all the bugs that still need fixing. Guess we'll have to see...

But in my opinion, moris were needed to handle good swf groups. So now there is a gap that cannot be closed anymore like before. And with this matchmaking, that is very relevant.

  • Well, if all killers get good, then what will happen with all the potato survivor who don´t? Dosn´t that just lead to killer nerfs?

  • Maybe you are not very good at senseing those things. Might just be hunger?

  • I dont understand the people saying bye. I will keep playing solo survivor, i am just done with playing as killer.

Also, i would be able to post even if there was a 2k hour rule, but 90% of that time is played as survivor.

  • I meet several ones so far. There are 2 kinds of bubbas i encounter, the bbq bubba, who hooks someone and runs of the get the next one, no camping at all, and the insidious basement camper. If a bubba hooks you in the basement, and i dont hear his tr outside, i won´t come for your help.

On the other hand, if i play bubba, which is rare and only for achivements/dailys, i AM an insidious camper

  • Seperate SWF and solo queue and balance both seperatly.

Also, remove DC Penalty and replace it with karmic matchmaking.

  • @KateDunson said:
