I can coordinate and do whatever I can with the SWF, they're competent people and we can do well when we don't have a killer that plays like a scumlord. You get sick of repeatedly getting stuck with the bottom of the barrel killers who can't win legitimately. That's the problem here, it has nothing to do with us. I hope how soon the matchmaking is sorted out with the MMR or whatever they're gonna pull next, because switching back to the old way is clearly garbage.

I think that is true. I believe a lot of killers do it because they are outplayed otherwise. But thats not the killers fault, they shouldn´t be playing against a team that outclasses them in the first place. Its not like there aren´t enough potato survivors for mediocre killers.

Its the fact that there are too few good killers to take on the good teams, and the mediocre killers have to play the good times to keep their queue times down.

Queue time over balance leads to camping and tunneling. At least it does when i play killer.

  • were did you get those numbers, that only 20% of survivors are escaping? Can you prove it, plz?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182611/pc-players-are-worse-than-console-players

I have noticed the exact opposite. So far every killer from console (all rank 5 and 6 right after rank reset) played like they weree drunk or just installed the game, sorry but it is true. Missing all the time, respecting pallets, no mindgames at loops etc

I dont know how it is at purple, green, yellow or even brown ranks, but a on R1, console killer were not able to get anything done so far. MAYBE it was just cooincidence, i dont know, but for myself i see a trend.

If FPS or controller is the problem... i dont know, but something is wrong with console killer. No offense to anybody, but it felt like bully the killer.

I wonder if it has to do with crossplay. I just played some games as killer, and if i had console players, i missed a lot more than usual. I have no idea why.

  • solo survivor. i like the tension of not having all the information, and i like it more like a hide and seek game.

Killer is too stressfull, because survivor, especially when with communication, is way to powerful, at least for me.

  • I use them, and never had problems. I doubt they even register it, and it should be a feature anyway.

Lol bro can you read I said I play on PC. And no, it doesn't make any sense at all. If I am able to play with more people from different platforms why wouldn't my que times go DOWN?

As far as i know, console has much more survivors than killers. So, crossplay highly increases the survivors, and killers only moderate.

Therefore, the times for console survivors goes down, because they have a better survivor/killer ratio, and the times for pc survivors go up, because their ratio gets worse.

And if you are one of the console survivors, the system makes sense for you, because you get games for frequent.

I dont know what more to say, because i didnt know what was unclear about my statement in the first place.

  • You are aware that the perk don´t force you to heal if the time is bad, right? You still gan co for that unhook if you see noone else is available and the killer is away from the hook. And you can still kill that hex totem before you heal yourself, and you can still finish that 95% gen.

Nothing of this is an argument why being healed by another player is better than being healed yourself.

The only exception might be if the killer camps, your buddy heals you up, and you can both go to the hook sooner, but thats the only scenario you mentioned (and i use you mentioned it loosly here) where it is better than self care. While if i am chased by the killer and can heal at every pallet or behind a bush if i juked the killer is way superior to running the killer to you to heal me.

Also, you are aware that people who think they need to be 100% heald all the time

    a) can be right, because they might go down instantly if the killer comes if they suck at chases

    or

    b) will not go for that unhook if they are injured, and if noone is there to heal them they let that guy die. How is that better than self care?

You seem to think that not running self care magicly transform players without game assesment skills into people that can evaluate every situation accuratly. Let me tell you, while i think self care is powerfull, its not that mighty.

Also notice that i mostly play solo survivor, and i had several games where other survivors refused to heal me. We finished a gen, and they run to the next one instead of healing. Why? Because if you do a gen together and the killer comes, and one survivor is an easy target, who do you think he goes for? I never play solo without selfcare.

  • yes, but it takes me alone to heal myself, while another one is needed to heal me who can´t do anything else at that time.

    little math example:

take one minute. I heal myself for 32 seconds, then do a gen for the remaining 28 seconds, while another player does a gen for 60 seconds.

At the end, i am healed, and work at gens for 88 seconds are done.

    now the other example.

someone else heals me for 16 seconds, then we both do gens for 44 seconds, leading to 88 seconds done on gens.

That doesn´t include inefficencys for working together on one gen, and doesnt include time to search for a healer.

Now explain why the later is better than the first. If you think my math is wrong, please let me know where.

  • @ObscurityDragon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1539829#Comment_1539829

Because self care takes at least twice the time to get you healed up from a team mate, rather take bond and go find someone to heal you

that is true. But it takes 32seconds from one person, while healing from someone else gets 16 seconds for 2 players. So you think 2 people doing nothing for 16 seconds is better than one player healing himself for 32 seconds and the other doing a gen instead?

I would think 2x16 seconds is the same as 32 seconds alone, but maybe math is different on consoles. And again, not included the time to find a teammate.

  • 10 points for using a stereotype as argument, but i have to substract points for this post because you didn´t bring a single real argument, just a claim, while mathematicaly its the same anyway.

  • Its not as much that he is op or anything, he is just boring and annoying to play against. 0 Counterplay.

  • @TrevorLahey93 said:

Yeah same, at least for survivor. It might be the time I play during but cross-platform seems to have increased my survivor que by quite a long time on PC. Killer wait time still instant as per usual. Really makes no sense...

it does if you play on console and your queue times went down.

  • yes, but these problems were there before, because that was why mmr was needed in the first place.

  • A teammate healing you is exactly the same time overall than you selfcaring. Thats what 50% mean, because you can do it alone at half speed.

But you have to walk around and find someone to heal you, and hope they will do it, which spends extra time.

  • I think its because at one time or another, every survivor had been that one survivor on his first hook endgame hopeing to be rescued.

The risk you take to rescue him is not that big(unless he has an active noed), because all 3 survivors are free go to rescue him.

But if it helps you, i had games where i played with a 3 ppl swf where one was hooked, i helped to rescue him, got downed, and they left me alone on my first hook, because i wasn´t one of them.

That are the plays that make me reluctant to do such things again.

  • Explain how it wastes time plz, because that is nonsense.

  • In theorie, killers are more at a disadvantage as survivors by crossplay. Meaning for those killers it might be more attractive to disable crossplay.

As i understand, there are too view killers on console, so if a lot of these killers opt out, it might support a reasonable number of survivors.

But that needs some time to settle, until the console killers decide to do so.

However, if crossplay don´t disadvantage killers, then you´re screwed

  • oh i don´t dc usually, not even if camped, i just by my team as much time as i can.

But i play way less killer at the moment.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182173/due-to-the-que-time-can-i-expect-a-really-huge-killer-buff-is-in-coming

Ummmm, your post makes no sense.

You want a killer buff because killers get instance lobbies??? That just means more people are playing survivor. That has nothing to do with strength

You realize killers get instant lobbies because there are too few of them, right? And survivors have waiting times because there is a surplus of them.

Then there are people like me, right. I am a survivor main, but play killer too. Usually. But me playing killer has dropped from about 35% of my games to under 10%. That means, in 25% of my games, i play survivor instead of killer. I am one survivor more, and one killer less.

And yes, i do it because of balance issues. i am not a good killer, and while i am a red rank survivor, i am only a rank 14-8 killer, yet, yesterday i played 3 games as killer, 2 of them vs all red ranks swf (i asked them, they confirmed it). Sure, the other team that only had 3 red ranks and were not swf still destroyed me. But it takes away any motivation from me to play killer. IF i am not alone, it might still be a balance issue, and then buffing killers is the right way.

  • @Moundshroud said:

Agreed, whether you are a Killer or a Survivor, finish the game. You play them to the bitter end out of respect for your fellow players, the community at large, and your own self respect. You learn more from your losses than you do your victories. I have fun even if a particular game isn't fun. They are always educational, and they are always practice. All that aside, it is just bad sportsmanship to DC, and cheats other people of their experience don't be that person.

To be fair, its hard to have respect for most dbd players, because most of them are very toxic.

  • interesting. i did play 3 games as killer last night (rank 14) and i got 2 vs all red ranks swf (yes i know because i asked them afterwards), and one vs 3 red and one purple rank (only 2 of them swf). Got easily outplayed every game. Now i think about deinstalling the game and taking a break. But the fact that you can play a quick game in between other things makes it still appealing vs some rpg or adventure juggernaugts.

  • its not a problem with mmr, the matchmaking before mmr was just as broken.

I find the fact intresting, that the old system seemed to be broken for some survivors, while the mmr was ok and good for others (mmr only gave me balanced matches while it lasted, while i now - just as before - get usually rainbowranks or red rank survivors against green rank killers).

  • @Rittihilatti said:

    The correct title is:

"MMR is gone = More game health

What exactly do you think is more healthy, and why? because I now see the rank 14 killer vs the 4 red rank who really outskill him, that made the mmr nessesary in the first place.

  • I played 3 games as killer tonight, and matchmaking is like before. i am a rank 14 killer, and get paired against full red ranks every game. I think i stop playing for a while, i have a big backlog of games i wanted to play.

  • As killer, i just eat the ds anyway. So no, i don´t play differently. But as survivor, i dont notice any difference either.

the problem is more that your fellow survivor, who unhook you in the killers face without bt, dont realize you dont have ds if there is no obsession, and thats why that play don´t work all of a sudden.

  • But you increase queue times if less people play killer and more survivor instead. Why is that better?

  • True, but other players, especially killers, have that experience with old matchmaking just as regular as now. nothing new so far.

We don´t even know they changed anything, they might just tell us they have.

  • I had a team like that. they let me die on the first hook, because a) i brought a key and they wanted it, and b) i hadn´t worked with them on gens.

and that was true, because i kept the killer occupied for 3+ minutes, until he finally got me and hooked me when they poped the 4th gen.

But not working on gens didn´t contribute, as it seems.

You had enough examples from other opinions already. There were stats end of 2018 about survival rate of SWF and solos and there were barely 10% difference. There IS a difference, but it is not the 90 to 10 gap that you promote. SWF is not the drill team you expect it to be, also mentioned several times. A god SWF team is also capable to stomp killers without comms, by simply wall hugging and looping killers into oblivion. And if you have 4 of these, it is simply a win for survivors. Everyone knows it.

SWF is not automatically boosting teams to god level, it is about 10% max. Knowing about totem spots? Doesn't matter when no Hex is used. Knowing about where the killer is? Efficiency is not necessarily boosted by knowig where the killer is, but by "not hearing the TR".

I could also ask you "why don't you understand". It is a slight boost, but not a game changer. There are enough examples and numbers to show the difference. All you give for proove is your 90% 10% example which I for once highly question and second, from killer POV, is mostly just an assumption trying to justify a loss.

Btw you did not say anything about "this game is not industrial standard". Agreed that this was BS?

You ignore the fact that the difference is excactly when you here the tr of the killer. Because the swf know they are still save, while the solo played does not know.

Still, the devs want a balance about 50% survival. SWF got 60%, so obviously killer needs to be buffed, if swf is in 70% of the games, because survivors are overperforming.

I, personaly, have a solo surviving rate of 70%. And when i played swf, it was actually more around 90 (but i only kept records for my solo games, so i don´t know for sure, just an estimate)

That seems way above the 50% survival rate, so killers need a serious buff anyway.

  • @Ivaldi said:

Or just stop complaining and play the game? 10's of thousands of killers have absolutely no problem playing against SWF groups. And 10's of thousands wouldnt keep playing DBD if we couldnt play with our friends.

Then why is it a problem to give the killers who dont want to play against them the ability to know about swfs?

  • SWF is the biggest issue, because you can´t balance killers against swf with communication and solo survivors without in one game mode.

  • It should be in the game, it just should be a different game mode than solo survivor and balanced accordingly.

  • @ArtCrusade said:

Oh yeah the new players just need to go against rank 1 opponents for 2 weeks it's finnnnnnne guys! The system will fix itself magically!

The system is just terribly implemented and ineffective and seems to be working in weird ways.

EDIT: I should point out that I am not even angry. Just more disappointed with BHVR than I thought I could be after all the other bullshit they're doing. This game plays like Early Access on Steam Greenlight.

But that happend before as well. There were plenty of rank 18 killers paired against red rank swf. thats why people wanted a new matchmaking.

  • Well it depends. Just not killing one is ok. But if the feng had showed you where the other survivor is hidding for example, and you killed im and gave her the hatch, yes, i think that would be bannable.

  • Well, i used to play swf, and i play solo, so i have a comparision. And there is no overestmiating mics. Because you always know you are save on the gen, because you always know who is chased by the killer. You know if you have to be carefull, or just go for it.

That is a lot of information, that usually comes from perks if you play solo. Also, it makes several killer perks useless, like third seal or knockout.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1528429#Comment_1528429

SWF doesn't render all that useless at all, it's simply hyperbolic statements, SWF is fine, Solo is unplayable currently, and has been for quite some time, I would happily take playing killer against SWFs over playing solo all day.

Funny, i actually do play solo all day over killer with just the chance to play every other game vs swf.

But i dont have any problem with playing solo, while you seem to struggle. Maybe your survivor performance is simply lacking?

Its not meant as an insult, because i know i dont perform well as killer. But "SWF is fine" is just not true for me, neither on the killer side, nor the survivor side.

  • I would say nurse. Because nowadays, there are just 2 kind of nurses i ever encounter.

1 is the godlike, where you can do next to nothing, and the game is over very fast.

the other one makes for a chilled game, because she can´t even hit you most of the time, and is lucky if she gets 1 kill at all.

There seems to be nothing in between, and i think that is unbalanced.

  • @Seanzu said:

this game is so insanely easy for killer to what it used to be 2/3 years ago, I doubt any of you would have stuck around for more than a few months, y'all have it so easy now lol.

    SWF is fine.

Its true i wouldn´t have played killer 2-3 years ago, because i didnt, because i am a survivor main anyway.

But i play solo survivor most of the time, and my escape rate is way higher than 50%, its actually about 70% (and yeah, i keept stats for several hundert games).

Do you have any idea what my survival rate was when i did play swf? i have to say i didnt keep stats of that, but i rarely died at all, with the exception of some high level hillbillys prior to the rework, or the odd mori.

I just wonder why other survivors don´t admit to this.

Anyway, i stopped playing, because if you actually died in one game, the mood in the group went way down. Also, the game felt very much mechanic, because there was no guessing, you always knew if you were in any kind of danger or not. That took the thrill out of the game for me.

Thats why i play mostly solo nowadys, or with swf without com. Because this way, the game has some uncertainties left for me, and i prefer it that way.

And dont get me wrong, i dont think the devs will ever adress swf. But that just means the game will someday die to a lack of killers.

The "i get matched against inexperienced killers" threads come from the fact that to reduce lobby times for high skill survivors, they need to bring in lower skilled killers, because there are simply not enough high skilled killers left to match with those swf.

thats at least my opinion. But time will tell.

Because (a) half the player base is SWF but (b) only a small percentage of that half are the SWAT SWF that people want to balance the game around.

Based on the stats they shared in 2019 (which obviously could've changed and had other factors included) half of the survivor player base was SWF. About 30% was 2SWF, about 10% was 3SWF, and about 3-6% was 4SWF. The SWF SWAT teams only make up a percentage of the 3-6% player base, and if you want you can even include some from the 10% of 3SWF. That's such a small percentage of survivor player base to balance around. Nerfing would drive away the ones that are just playing with their friends and most nerfs people suggest will actually hurt the random solos more that are tossed in with the 2SWF and 3SWF.

But even the not-squad-teams share the advantage of communication, and have therefore more potential than players of the same skill without it. And if you balance around the solos, even the non-squad swf are op, and need to be balanced around, but then solo survivors suffer.

  • and i do, because this argument is invalid in both cases. If something is balanced or not is not dependend on how often it happens.

  • They should just seperate swf from solo queue and balance both queues acordingly. If both modes were balanced, there would be no need to dodging them. And in case of 3man-swf, they can buff the random solo survivor via kindred/bound/whatever and still make it haveway balanced.

Also, they can give incentives to killers and solo survivors to join the swf-queue (which again, would be as balanced as solo) in form of additional bp, xp, or whatever.

This would also keep the solo experience intact which resolves about a lack of information, and thats the way some of us prefer the game.

  • There are also 2 contradicting arguments that come into play.

    a) there are so much swf, the game would die if you nerf them in any way

    b) swf is a minority, thats why you cant balance the game around swf.

SWF is an issue, but they don´t want to adress it. Its that simple.

  • @snozer said:

I am all for them making solo stronger by making aura perks baseline and adding a quick chat option with common phrases

    "I am being chased!"

    "i am not being chased!"

    "barn"

    "shack"

    etc

Identity v does it and it works great.

The killer nerfs have made it clear they are not going to do anything. Even tho they promised a year ago that they would buff solo and all we got was a buff to a perk (literally useless as swf take all meta perks with no need for aura perks)

Then why not just play Identity V? I play solo survivor because i like the lack of information this game resolve around. And while swf is a problem, the solution is not buffing solos, but seperate them from swf.

Yeah, i know its not gonna happen, but some people like the uncertainty.

  • The thing is, how many of you would give them money for doing those changes? Here is a dlc circle with no content to buy, just fixes. On the other side is a dlc that rakes in money, because the people play anyway. Which would you chose from the dev´s perspective?

  • And what exactly is the difference to old matchmaking? as a rank 14 killer, i got red rank swf all the time. Doesn´t seem like better matchmaking to me.

  • Old matchmaking was basicly the same as this. Low rank vs high ranks? Yes, happend before as well.

The problem with both system is that devs prioritize lobby times over match balance. But they do with both systems, so they work out the same in this regard.

  • I use them for two reasons. I need them to handle swf, because i am not a good killer. And since i have no indicator about swf, i just asume i have an swf in every game.

Also, devs said they will look into them, which basicly means they get reworked to be useless. Better spend them before that happens.

But plz. note that i am a survivor main, and i use up my keys for the same reason as well.

  • @CheyeneKL said:

I don't think they'll ever do this, and I also don't think that they ever should. Ignoring the lobby dodging issue, most SWFs are not even good, regardless of ranking. The last thing I want when I play with a group of friends who are nooby at the game (as purple and red ranks... SIGH) is a killer who sweats hard, tunnels & BMs just cause he had prior knowledge that we were in a group together and he hates SWF/thinks we are gonna make his game hell.

Even crappy players in a SWF obviously have advantages, but escapes are still hard to come by unless the killer is garbage. A crappy SWF can get gens done (sometimes 🙄) but they make infuriatingly bad decisions CONSTANTLY and I really don't want to be discouraged from playing with my worse friends on the possibility that the killer will target us just for being friends on a discord call together.

That's not fun and would completely discourage more adept players from recommending the game to friends so that they could play together.

I totally understand why killers would want to know if they're about to go against a sweat squad, but I just don't see how BHVR could implement some way to "warn" killers to prepare without encouraging lobby dodging or upsetting gameplay from the killer towards players who really don't deserve it.

Good argument, can i adept it for moris? Because most killer using moris are not even good, so moris are fine, right?

  • I think you annoy killers enough by complaining about killer perks and then ignoring their answers. And you dont even need perks for that. Good job.
