  • I am one of the colorblinds. Blood can´t be seen anywhere, and scrachtmarks only on indoor maps, and even gen auras are invisible on some maps (ormond being the worst).

And that was before the aura update. Now i cant even find traps as the Trapper, or my own hex totem. I don´t play killer at all at the moment.

As a survivor, i have a permanent third seal, But bound helps.

  • ...that end up doing 4 gens alone because the looper find it boring.

Here, i finished your sentence. I am one of the blendettes, and in a lot of games, i do 2+ gens alone, and 1 or 2 with someone else. Because the looper find it unfun, and running behind the killer with a flashlight is so much more constructive. And the hookrusher just want the easy points, the boring gen alone brings just 1250 bp, a safe unhook with bt brings 1500 and doesnt take so much time.

Even blendettes don´t get to red ranks just by hidding.

  • If there enough players like you, the argument that every killer would opt out on swf if given the option would lose value, making it possible. So, killers who want to go against swf, show yourself.

  • I would argue that map offerings can and do change the outcome of a match regularly. So do toolboxes with brand new parts in the hands of survivors who know how and when to use them. Even flashlights can change the balance completly. (especially vs hag for example, not even needed to blind). So, do you want them all removed too?

Or don´t you agree they change the balance as well (i would agree that they don´t change it as drasticly as moris, but they still do.)

  • Well, they hinted that a time ago, i have used a mori in every killer game in the past 4+ weeks, and a key in most survivor matches. I wont have the instaheal-disappointment again.

But since the aura change, its hard to play survivor for me, and impossible to play killer (i am colorblind, cant see blood or scratchmarks, and on certain maps even gen auras. with the change, i cant see auras as killer at all.)

No hiding is not a form of interaction, its trolling your team by not contributing to a single thing. Either wait for the other 3 to do enough Gens or wait till they all die from trying to play the game.

In most games, i get 6k+points on objectives because i do gens, 6k+ because i do unhooks and heals, and 4-5k boltness for doing totems. I just dont go mindlessly into chases.

The killer comes to the gen i work on, i hide, and he keeps either searching or goes away and i go back to the gen.

Why is doing gens not contributing?

Why is rescuing and (safely) unhooking not contributing?

Why is doing totems to avoid noed not contributing?

Why is healing others not contributing?

It would be nice if you could explain.

  • Yes. And the entity is not a killer. Thats my point.

Lol right. Because killers only use Moris against 4 man SWF teams.

And killers have also never falsely assumed a team was SWF in postgame chat when they weren't.....

And because all 4 man SWF teams are amazing players

    you nailed it. *slow claps*

on the other hand, not all killers hook-tunnel and mori survivors.

By your argument, moris are fine then?

  • True. Moris are a counter to swf.

And only use on death hook makes them useless anyway.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Hatches are fine but keys opening hatches is not. It introduces an uninteractive play style, where the survivor just waits for the hatch to spawn, find it then leave. People whataboutism Mori's when keys are mentioned, but with Mori you need to interact with your opponent in order to get to use it, it can be countered by skillful escapes. Keys you can play super passive, never seeing anyone, find the hatch and escape without seeing a single player.

You know that for key escapes you usually have to do gens, right? It doesnt spawn on its on just because time passed (well, unless you are the last survivor) And if you do gens, the killer usual comes there. Hidding from the killer is a form of interaction, even if some killers and survivors don´t like that.

I rarly saw a survivor doing nothing all game and escape. And even then, whats the point? 7k bloodpoints are worth nothing.

People always bring out these extreme scenarios, where the main point is that that highly skilled killer shouldn´t have played vs the potato survivors in the first place.

But... That Already happens, Mr. Dev. I don't expect many of you to understand as you're more Survivor sided then Blizzard favored Alliance back in 2005, so I'll try to explain the best I can as a Killer main

Listen, whenever there are 2 Survivors left and they KNOW they're outmatched, the morons play hide and seek because they're trash, waiting for the other to die so the one left can just hop down hatch.

How is that fair at all to punish the Killer for OUTPERFORMING the Survivors, which is his goal?

Why don't you all add either a countdown timer (if no gens are worked on within 3 mins, the Survivors automatically lose because they're clearly holding the game hostage) or if you wanna be a lil more fair, have Crows hover and FOLLOW survivors that are pressing forward every 30 seconds so they're not declared AFK

Like really... You guys made a great game, but you keep punishing Killers, who are the harder role to play and master in your game. You keep nerfing our killer powers and our add-ons while Survivors still get to abuse keys and have free escapes out Hatch for playing badly.

Meanwhile your Killer playbase are dropping like flies because what the hell is the point of playing Killer anymore if all we ever get is punished for outplaying the Survivors?

I can't even count the amount of 3ks I've gotten where I should have had a 4k, but the last trash Survivor had hatch open up right by them and immediately escape once it's activated.

Ridiculous and ofc Survivor crybabies are going to rally against this post, but they're in denial regardless because they play the easier role.

Do you Devs want to have to implement Killer bots and effectively kill your game? Because you're quickly going down that path. Be thankful for 4 years alive in a dog eat dog industry, cause if you all don't change, DBD may not make it to 5.

First of, you are wrong. Its not whenever 2 Survivors are left. I am often one of the two survivors left, and i still do gens. Thus, your statement is false. Now, arguing from a false does make it irrelevant.

Also, if the killer was OUTPERFORMING the survivors, that usually mean there is a large skill gap between both parties, and one could argue that these two parties shouldn´t be paired together in the first place.

So basicly you are ranting because while bad matchmaking give you an advantage, still someone escape? That is at least the point i am seeing.

Also, your changes are killersided. Why don´t you change it then ALSO that if the killer isn´t in a chase for 3 minutes he loses the game, because he is just sitting on the gens instead of trying to find the survivors? (no, thats not really a proposal, i just dont follow the argument that the killer has won anyway). Also, i think the 3 minutes would do next to nothing, because as survivor, you just wait for 2 and a half minute, then go tap a gen or do a totem. Next 3 minutes start.

The problem is that there is not "the survivors". There are solo survivors that play constructive, there are solo survivors that meme, and there are swf. SWF is the greater issue anyway.

You ask why killers are being punished for outplaying survivors. Why should solo survivors be punished for getting potato-allies who dc and hook suicide? Why would you punish survivors for playing the harder game mode instead of swf, where it becomes a none issue?

LAst thing, why is the 4k so important? I play killer as well (even though i am a survivor main), and for me there is seldom a difference between a 3k and a 4k (unless the one that escapes is the toxic one). I dont slug either, i just hook the 3rd and race the last for the hatch (a race i win in 70% of the cases).

And yes, you as killer might have done everything right, but i had a game yesterday where i maxed out everthing, because i rescued 4 survivors (savely), run the killer and juked him several times, and still had to do 3 gens alone, while the other 3 did exactly one. Do you really think i deserve to die in that situation, more than you as a killer deserve the 4th kill? If so, can you explain why?

  • I don´t think so. DBD just isn´t that kind of game. Eldritch horror is a lot more about psychological horror, while DBD is more the classic Slasher-Genre.

If I want to suicide cause I'm stuck with an SWF who's leaving me on a hook or farming me. Imma suicide.

If I'm being farmed by a killer and teammate - Imma suicide.

If I need to suicide to save a teammate from themselves - Imma suicide.

If a killer is camping / tunneling - and imma gonna die anyway without any real play time - Imma suicide. (If imma NOT gonna die anyway - then I'll stay. If it's obviously the team won't or can't come get me from, that. I have to say "no thank you" and move on. Really it's not a suicide though. Eg: I'm going to get immediately hooked again which leads me to believe there may be a farming situation about to go down. In which case I'm just on the hook 2 or 3 times without any real play time. Yes, I'm leaving by way of suicide via hook.)

There are reasons (and more than above) and darn good ones.

I don't DC and points are given proper - but that's where it ends.

For the negative things - No 3 hook farm, no two. No hook and heal farm. ONE. Those situations don't deserve more IMHO.

So yeah I don't think suicide should be punished.

You should never suicide to a camping killer! you should take all the time you can, because he is camping. Meanwhile your fellow survivors can do gens, and escape. It sucks for you, sure.

But camping is only a thing because its so easy for the killer, and hook suiciding just encourages this behaviour, while it should be punished. Thats while i suicide if i have crappy teammates, i never do if the killer camps.

@topic: Even if people can´t suicide, how do you think that will help? I just gel myself hooked and go afk. You might save me if i cant suicide, but i suicide because you are a crappy teammate. I either don´t play, or i start playing really selfish. I don´t know how that helps your case.

But again, i play vs all killers, on all maps, with all perks. I only suicide do to survivor actions, like intentionally leading the killer to me (i found a hex totem, began cleansing it, and another surivvor rushed in and out the locker, till the killer came and chased me...while the other one cleansed the totem). This is one of many examples, but i won´t play with you if you are that survivor.

  • First of, i am a survivor main, but i play both sides. And i never run DS, because i don´t get those tunneling killers often enough to use the perk slot for it. But i also don´t go looking for the killer once i get unhooked.

I really don´t think DS is the issue. I had lots of games as killer and survivor, where even 3 people running DS didn´t make a difference. Because i play solo survivor most of the time.

For an swf, it is just another powerful tool to go after the killer, and i think thats the issue here. Solo´s don´t do that often, because they never know if their fellow survivors will come and pick you up in time after the killer downed you again. Solo is not realiable enough for this kind of play (aside from specific unhook-at-the-open-gate-situations).

So the real issue is once again swf, not the perk itself. Because i bet all those coordinated attacks you experience were from swf. I play in red ranks as survivor, and i get potatos so often, i can´t belive this is a common experience in solo survivors.

  • With each killer having his own skill rating, they wont to prevent abuse by searching with a low skill killer, then changing to your main.

  • Maybe fine for you, but i am red-blind, and until now, survivor auras were just fine, but i had an issue with killer auras on certain maps. There were maps where i couldn´t see gen auras and had to search the gens like a survivor.

I havn´t tried killer yet, but i can´t see survivors auras as survivors anymore. also suddenly, bbq becomes an issue, because you can´t dodge it with the gen you are working on if you can´t even see where the survivor is downed.

Well, gl if you are my fellow survivor next game. If i dont come to your rescue, it might be because i can´t see you.

  • i am redblind, as a survivor i dont see auras of downed or hooked survivors anymore

  • To me, the change is horrific. I am colorblind, particular redblind, and i cant see the auras of downed or hooked survivors anymore. I havn´t played as a killer yet, but auras were horribile before the update, i think i can´t play killer anymore after this.

  • First of, i had a game as killer yesterday where i got a 4k, and survivors still gave me an "ez". It has nothing to do with the result, they just want to use it as an insult.

As killer, i dont care about the hatch. i hook people as i get them, and i never slug for a 4k. I just hook the 3rd survivor and race the 4th for the hatch. if he knows where it is and i dont, good for him. In most cases i get there first. But a 3k is a win for me just like a 4k, so i dont really care.

As a survivor, the hatch is what keeps me from suiciding/dcing in a lot of games. I play solo most of the time, and there are dcs and hook suicides for no reason a lot, as well as the tunnelcamping mori-killer. In all those cases, the survivors are at a serious disadvantage. But i know even if we mess up, one might still get the hatch. It whats keep me playing the match in those situations, otherwise you could just throw the game and go on to the next.

And sometimes it works out for all survivors, because we get the gens done and escape, sometimes i am the last one (because i am stealthy ^^, ), and sometimes, though rarly, you have a survivor who left you on the hook and hatchcampes while you just got found because you were doing the generater and he wasn´t.

Keys change the game a little, because if someone is already dead, i try to find the hatch AND the other survivors and try to escape with them all (sometimes we just finish the gens despite the key), and the dynamics different, because you have to find the rest, so you expose yourself, while still try to hide from the killer. Sometimes it works out, sometime it doesn´t.

  • I dont really give hatch, but i always hook the 3rd person, and give the last survivor a fair race to the hatch. If they come there first, or get the exit gate after they close it, thats fair to me.

  • First of, where is your post telling the same things to survivors? They ruin the killers fun with looping and teabagging, too. Running in circles is as boring as camping.

And for your last sentence, you either lie or have no clue. If i play "fair", survivors talk trash after the game. If i camp and tunnel, the first two players are already out of the chat when the game ends most of the time. Way less toxicity. The truth is, noone respect you as killer if you try to play by survivor rules. If you play by your own rules, they don´t respect you either, but at least you get more kills.

  • I like the indoor maps, both as survivor and killer. Midwich has to be played different than many other maps, and if you understand that, the killer never gets you.

Mate, 30 is a common sample size for how the population feels about something with 3 variables, I gave you a sample size of over 60. Your ignoring statistics.

So, if i do a vote about you sending me 500€ every month, and i get a sample size of 100 people to vote, will you respect the result?

  • Thats nerfing the gates for one side only. I am all for regressing gates, but at the same time, make gates spawn further away from each other. Then you have nerfed them for both sides.

    1. Saying to bring X perk isn't counterplay, its guessing its a Spirit
    2. The "change direction" point is null if;
      1. She has Stridor
      2. She stands still and watches you then phases since you have 0 distance
    3. "waste her time" when even a mediocre spirit can end chases within 15-30 seconds

"killer mains" can try and defend it as much as they like but the truth is Spirit needs to be brought in line with the others, and yes I do like killers who have to chase me, given how that is the point of the game

But that isnt the point of the game. The point of the game is doing the objective and not dying.

For you you might do that with chases, others do it with stealth.

The thing that annoys a lot of survivors is that spirit can´t be just looped for minutes, because yes, its a guessing game. Get better at guessing, then.

One of the strong points of the game is that you have to take different tactics vs. different killers. A lot of people just ignore those points, and then complain about it.

Not every swf group is in voice coms and not every swf on voice coms is sweating it out.

And not every killer uses a mori to tunnel of the hook. But the problem is, enough are, in both cases.

  • @RizeAki said:

This has too many issues and for one doesn’t need to be done nothing needs changed with swf rather solo then killer needs buffed

Secondly a lot of PCs have built in mics so it would reveal anyone’s aura no matter what

Third I play on console and if I am solo but in a party with friends on let’s say playing war zone why should I be revealed because I have friends to talk to while I play?

Fourth on the last part why in general punish people for having friends to talk to

Fifth this will be the last thing cuz I could go on forever Say I decide to just discord call my friends maybe for when crossplay comes and I do it from an extra phone or pc not connected to my ps4 this would not do anything anymore

Now while I know swf is a lot stronger then solo and killer the solutions are not to ban nerf and punish anyone who uses a mic but to buff the side without these communications available

what do you propose for a solo buff? And dont use information perks plz, because the game is based around a lack of information, and some people enjoy it that way, and play solo for that reason. So no basekit kindred or other aura perks.

So, how to buff solo without buffing swf?

  • Well, because for some peopel dbd is a hide-and-seek game. A lot of killers dont like the hidding game, but it is part of the game, and needs no nerfing, which is what an increased fov would do.

  • you also hit ready when you start searching for a trial, i think i mistook the "ready" you meant.

  • The killer need to be locked in order for individual killer ranking to work. Survivors still need to be able to change their loadout, because solo survivors have just 1 minute to coordinate before the match starts.

But logfile encryption should be here as soon as possible, i agree on that.

  • While i play both sides, i enjoy survivor far more, especially as solo survivor. I played my share of swf, and while its truly powerful, the flavor of the game gets lost. I like the tention of not knowing if the killer just waits behind the next corner.

To me, looping is the most boring thing in the game, and i dont understand how people can find running in circles fun. I like the stealth game, of not being found, and if i am found, try to lose the killer in a chase by juking, bluffing etc.

But since i dislike looping, and as a killer you have next to no choice if the survivor started to loop, i don´t enjoy it that much. As such, i prefer killer that can´t be looped easy, like spirit and hag.

  • Do you get offended by racial or sexist slurs? Because they are just words, aren´t they?

And while real life and a video game are two different things, both include real people, and the disrespect these people show in a video game is just as real as if they do it in real life.

And they do things they wouldn´t in real life because we as a community let them, and don´t sanction such behaviour.

But i believe things react to each other, since rude behaviour becomes more accepted in real life through the acceptance in the web.

    "Wehret den Anfängen".

  • Thats what i mean with different balancing for both modes. Sure, if you do an swf mode, solo players might chime in, and they might need those boosts, as does the killer then.

but in the solo mode, the killer could be balanced different, because the survivor don´t have perfekt information.

  • I dislike the idea, because the game is based on a lack of information, and i enjoy that kind of playstyle. Your idea forces information on me, and take away the tension of the game.

I mean, i know i am save because i always know if the killer is in another hase. I always know if noed might come into effect or not beforehand. I also know where all the other surivors are, and have a lot of information of the state of the game.

While it would certainly make survivors more effective, it would change the game fundamentaly, and not all might like that.

Its still better to seperate solo from swf, and balance both modes seperatly.

  • They dont want to reveal the actual metric, to avoid the problem of "deranking". IF people dont know what to do or fail for, they can´t activly manipulate their rating.

As for swf, i think they either give swf a rating boost, or just do a individual rating for the individual teams, in the beginning based on the member rating, then on performance (for that team). I read a comment from a dev that made me believe its something like that, but i have no idea where i read it.

There are a lot of things you can take to evaluate skill, kills and escaped being only the bottom, because they are most unreliable.

But i would use things like performance in chases, including time until hit or downed, pallets dropped during chase, ability to leave a chase unharmed (by jukeing for example).

I think for killers the finding of survivors and the chase might be the most important determinator, but might include if he switches targets, or other targets interfere (like with head on, flashlights) while survivors also have time not in chases, and how productive that time is, like doing gens, rescuing others, staying hidden, flashlight saves and a lot more.

How many movies shows etc is there a "survivor " that at one time of another tries to stab of shoot the killer

It literally even fits into the horror screenplay

But those movies usually proceed in the survivor doing no damage at all, then getting grabbed by the killer and killed.

But that might be a way to balance it, you use it, and after that the killer can mori you if he gets hold of you.

  • Oh yeah, your right, thanks.

  • @28_stabs said:

Devs added NOED notification. I think that they should add BBQ notification when survivors expose themselves to it to help bad players learn the game.

Since there are also new and bad killers, there could also be a ds-notification if you down an unhooked survivor.

  • @Orion said:

If their MMR was indeed able to accurately predict the outcome of trials, I'm all for it.

I wonder..isn´t that a bad thing? I mean i can accuratley predict the outcome of a boxing match between the Muhammad Ali on his peak vs an 8 year old, but i wouldn´t call that matchup balanced.

If the system can predict who is going to win, isn´t that a sign its not balanced? If it were balanced, wouldn´t the outcome be unpredictable, anything between 0-4 kills possible?

Or do i misunderstand something fundamentaly?

  • OoO is not that bad actually. In an swf, it usually been run either by their best runner, or their worst pretending to be their best.

I actually run to the OoO, but change target if something else comes in my way. Somehow, they never expect that. Once you hooked someone, you have the advantage to know where the OoO is, which is on the other side of the field waving at you to come. So you know another one is going to the hook, and that means no more than one person on gens.

And in the lategame, the object cant escape you anymore, no matter how good a runner it is.

  • @ZephanUnbound said:

Yeah, this sounds bad to me. I can often tell in the lobby if I'm up against a SWF, because usually there are lots of flashlights, med packs, and keys (or sometimes I remember the names of SWF people), and I like to change to one of my better killers when I see a possible SWF because I don't like to get bullied by SWF's, but this change will force me to go against them with a weaker killer. I feel like this will basically make me stop playing my weaker killers entirely.

But the entire concept is that you dont face those strong swf if you play one of your weaker killers. So the situation you brought up should never happen anyway.

If the new matchmaking works is actually another question.

  • I play since sommer 2018, and i think tunneling and camping and slugging has gone way up since the ruin change. Most killers aren´t as relaxed as they were before, including me when i play killer.

  • Simple, they should listen to me.

  • Hmm, i played a 3 or 4 swf for some time, and the games were really easy to win. Knowing the other one wouldn´t just give up on hook or something really helps. Sure, we didn´t win all the time, but a majority were 3 escapes, and a lot more 4 escapes than 0-2 together.

On the other had, games became boring (to me). You constantly knew if the killer was a thread to you at the moment or not. We know very soon who the killer were, i knew noed wouln´t be a problem at all, and we knew where we could get help, be it healing, a distraction, or someone to take over the chase you are in.

Thats why i play mostly solo Q again, because the lack of information gives tension to the game and makes it intresting in the first place. Thats why i am against just buffing the information line of the game for solo survivors, because it will take away that tension.

As killer, i am just not good enough to keep up with highly cooridnated survivors. While it is true that skilled solos do the same to you, swf boostes survivors of equal skill as the killer way over the level he can deal with. Sure, if you highly skilled as a killer anyway, you can handle the mediocre swf even though they have communicaton. If you´re just as mediocre as the survivors, you can´t.

You were fine. The camping thing (which is what it sounds like but I wasn't there so I can't say) isn't nice but you play how you play :-)

I have found this game to have a lot of incredibly abusive people. The second week I played I got the C word, the b word, the N word, the spanish word for ######### - and got called that in english too.

I've been called useless, dumb. stupid, worse player ever, worse gaming ever etc etc. and that's not even the half f it. Vile and just mean.

I've only been pay 4 -6 weeks now BTW and at least every 5th game is a hot mess of nasty either at myself or someone else.

I'm typing this all in caps for a reason, I'm not yelling at you though. :-)

DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO MAKE YOU FEEL BAD.

    I'm serious.

These are stupid, childish. pathetic internet trolls that have some issues of their own that they really need help for. These pathetic trolls have no bearing on your real life. They hold no power and no value. They don't know you. They can't hurt you. They are idiots.

It is not you - it is THEM. Please remember that.

Take a break and go treat yourself to something nice. Take a walk. Clear your mind and allow yourself some time to normalise and re-balance.

I'm lucky as I don't have any mental health conditions, that I'm aware of anyway, but there are moments that this game makes me feel so bad about myself that I have to walk away and re-balance myself. I've never been subjected to the kind of volite nasty that I have been in this game so it shocks my system I think.

    XOXOXOXOXOXXOXOXOXOXO

Breath. Those people are trash human beings. Be glad you are not a trash human being like them. :-)

The problem with the camping thing is this:

The last 2 times i was told i was a camper was

    a) when i hooked one, saw another one with bbq on the other side of the map, got there, and he run me all the way back straight to the hook...but i was camping.

    b) i was running rancor, had one survivor at the basement, and a gen popped, showing me another one on the stairs to the basement. i turned around, and got the unhooker. He crawled under the hook and i try to get him. Obviously, that was camping again.

Survivors call everything camping if the killer is near the hook, even if they run the killer back to the hook themself.

  • the 15 sec gen is important, but people should save that tech for the last gen, not the first.

  • I doubt the devs will show us statistics. The last time they did, people misinterpreted them, ignored related facts to "prove" their point in one way or another, and so on.

Here is the same example. Ruin wasn´t nerfed on numbers only, but it being so highly used was part of it.

But the rest of the reason is simply ignored

What triggers me a lot is that when I play Killer I play against a 4 coordinated and god gen rushers survivors, but when I'm playing SoloSurvivor and the killer is chasing me for an entire 2 minutes, only 1 gen pops. That freaks me out.

Define most times. Out of curiosity, i kept stats of my solo survivor games, and i had an escape rate in red ranks of 73%. After rank reset, it went down to 64%, because a lot of games were lost due to other survivors. That was after the Chains-of-fate-release.

  • when i play killer and someone get an dc early (only a legit one, being caught and dc doesnt count, that player just chose death) then i play the game normaly, but i never hook a player for the 3. time. Instead, i slug them after their 2. hook, until i "won" the game. Then i let them go. This way, you still get a somewhat thrilling game instead of just a stupid farm. Sure, there are survivors that just hooksuicide, but thats on them.
