This. Is. Not. About. NoED. Activating.
Yes, I am mad at my team for not contributing. But that's not what the post is about.
I am deeply annoyed that the common response to genuine issues about NoED is "Just do bones" and I have had to say that about 50 times now.
So again. It is not NoED existing, activating or being a bad perk. It is that I am over hearing "do bones" because I did them.
I'm over it. I'm not taking anyone on this thread seriously any more because they aren't taking me seriously.
NO, YOU DIDN´T DO THEM. YOU DID SOME!!!! OF THEM.
And thats the difference. but since it seems to hard to understand, it seems like wasted time to argue.
-
If i camp as killer, there are 2 reasons:
First, the survivor morse code messaged me to camp him and the other surivvors via teabagging. Ok, my morse code is not that good, i might get it wrong, but i am pretty sure thats what most people mean by teabagging. So i just fullfill their wish.
Second, bad matchmaking often pairs you way of your skill league. So if you get your first survivor and 3+ gens are done, well, you allready spend so much time with him, wouldn´t it be rude just to leave him because he is hooked?, Nah, you can stand together for the rest of the game, its nearly over anyway.
I dont like camping, but if matchmaking doesn´t give you fair matchups, is one of the few ways to take at least some controll over the game back.
Actually, there is a third reason: If you lose without kills, survivor insult you after the game anyway. If you camped one or two to death, they still insult you, but at least they don´t enjoy it as much, while i do.
-
I learned by playing myself, and as a survivor, that was fine. As a killer, i struggled, and only after using guides/streams i realize there are things like infinite loops (before the balanced landing rework, and before the exhaustion change).
So while you can learn by yourself, using such media might help you in issues you are not even aware of. so best do both ^^.
learn by playing, but check a guide or something from time to time, but dont see them as an instruction manual.

Somebody didn't read it apparently.
Point is that I DID them .
No, you didn´t do them, you only did some.
And really, you dont need smallgame or any perk for that. I know the totem spots, and i start the game by doing totems. i run around, check the usual spots, and count to 5. I do it in the beginning, because the killer has to check many gens still. Later, when he has to patrol fewer gens, its more important that all can work on them or unhook or whatever, while in the beginning he has to spread the pressure. Usually, one or two (or rarly even three) gens pop by the time i got the last totem. Even if i have to interfere, because i am near a hooked survivor and the others are doing gens, i can just go back to the part of the map where i stoped my search routine.
Yes, it takes pressure away from the killer on the off chance he has noed. But you can be flexibile. I come across a gen done more than 50%? I just help before i continue.
And yes, sometimes there is still a totem i didn´t find, and yes, even if i do it, sometimes noed becomes active, and sometimes it hits me. But thats the game.
Sure, it would be easier if i knew that other people where doing totems too. But usually, they don´t, unless its a hex totem.
Also i don´t complain about the bp gain for survivors, because i normaly close to the killer or even exceed him in bp. Those totems give you 1k bp for 16 seconds of work, while a gen gives you 1250 for 80 seconds. But if you do gens later, you usually do it with someone else, meaning you get cooppoints as well.
Sure, from the effectivity aka genrush perspective i waste a lot of time. But i dislike 5 minute games anyway.
-
The advice shouldn´t be do bones. It should be: Do ALL bones. Doing some bones doesn´t counter noed, just like preventing 2 gens to be done doesn´t stop the gates from being powered.
-
You say the game shouldn´t be based on luck, but it is. For the killer, the greatest factor is if he is lucky and gets solo survivors or unlucky and gets an swf (like you and your friends). Why is thats luck factor ok, but not if you bring a perk to counter a strategy?
And in Terms of fairness, everyone knows that swf is busted for most killers, yet most survivors don´t want it balanced for such matchups. They call it "nerf for playing with friends".#
For the last part, you are right. Devs avoid the important topics (like adressing swf) in fear of backlash, and see how long it might work.
-
I couldn´t see it due to the 30-minutes-later timing. I don´t live in your time zone, and it was in the middle of the night here. I stayed up an hour to see it, but couldn´t take the additional 30 minutes, because i didnt know how long the movie would go, and have children that wake me up in the morning in any case. Why did you do it?
-
When i have to go against 3+ swf, i dont have fun with any killer. MAybe i answer when they find a solution for it.
-
Only as soon as the option exists, people will still complain about clipping or overlapping anyway and will demand it to be fixed. We have seen that time and again, and i don´t see why it should be different this time.
-
I think the problem is the same as old matchmaking: Queue times get priority over fair matches. In order to keep queue times short, they searching range is expanded if no players at a certain skill level is found. As far as i know, the new system does it just the same as the old one, and that in addition to a lot of skill ranks not yet determined, leads to the mess we got.
-
The problem is that devs still prioritize lobby times over game balance. That just screws such a system.
-
SWF is way more unbalanced than a mori. Yet, if the discussion comes up, swf-defender always say " but not every swf is good or plays like that".
But that is true for moris too. Not every killer gets a 4k just because he uses a mori, and not every killer hooktunnels and moris after the first hook.
If the one argument was ever valid, then the same is true for moris.
Well, i am using up may keys and moris anyway. No need to keep them if the get "reworked", because i expect them to be mostly useless afterwards. Keep my broken keys, and ivory moried, maybe they become usefull.
-
To me, looping is the worst and most boring part of the game. I usually dont disconnect, but i had games where i stop playing as killer if i got people that just run from one loop to another.
As survivor, i dont loop, instead i juke the killer and make him lose me, which to me is much more engaging.
Looping is effective in the game, because you can waste the killers time and he doesn´t just get so someone else, but i hate it. Its the reason i play less and less killer. (but i am a survivor main anyway, just play killer for the change of perspective).
-
SWF doenst need to be removed, it needs to be seperated from solo queue and balanced seperatly. IF both modes are balanced, killers don´t need to opt out. But i would like to keep the solo experience, since i enjoy the uncertainty in the game, and thats what swf and all proposed solo buffs take away.
-
We don´t know, and i belive that is part of the concept.

God why are boomers and wannabe boomers such bootlickers.
It's a 1M dollar company they're not gonna give you a gold star and a pat in the back for defending their feelings.
We paid for a game which should work but doesn't. Period. It's not entitlement it's asking for the product to work as advertised. And they've proven time and time again they do not listen unless we make a ######### uproar.
Actually, the game works. Not flawless, not to the liking of most people, but saying it doesn´t work is simply false.
-
No, usually they complain about the rank of their teammates, or the (lower) rank of their discussion partner.
I read so many posts of "killer mains" that quite obviously never played killer for real, its not even funny. People try to get credebility by this, and mmr rank would just be the next measurement to dismiss the arguments of people not agreeing with you.
-
Well, people have to realize we are one community. Killers are not your opponents, but your play partners, and like in any non-cooperative game, they want to make you lose and win themself.
Thats why i call out fellow survivors that are toxic, both ingame and in the aftergame chat, as well as giving pros to killer where those pros are due.
-
There seems to be a hell of an influx of new players to the game. Every matchmaking thread tells of soo many new players, i wonder what did cuase those influx...
-
For me, it seems to work. I got decent survivors in all games, and decent killers too. You did only know who makes it out or not at the end of the game, not after two minutes.
-
don´t have to be new players, since deranking is a thing in this game, and many people do it. Just saying that the baseline skilllevel of that survivors might not have been determined at that time.
I for one have great games as solo survivor so far. They were all fair and close, and fun to play.
-
Note: Since i don´t want to offend the TO with non-perfect english, i replied in german, my native language, to make sure its unambiguous.
-
But you don´t know if all of those survivors had their 10 matches, and thus be rated properly, or do you?
-
To me, like many others, it all depends on several factors.
Sometimes i run kindred, sometimes i don´t. If i don´t, i don´t know if someone is coming to save you, so i stay on my gen, since there is plenty of time. And thus, i don´t expect you to come if you have no information.
Second, if the killer is camping, well, i hold on, even if they dont come for me. Because i occupy the killer, he looses big, and if that happens often enough, camping won´t work anymore, so many killer will go after other people instead of camping.
Otherwise, i had games where i was hooked, one was on a gen (i was fine with him) one was crouching around, doing totems (that one i would expect to come for me, instead of doing bones and let me die), while the last one was in the basement running in circles the whole time, doing nothing.(i think no comment is needed here). Yes, i let go then. Because the game would go nowhere anyway.
I also hooksuicide, but its always about crappy teammates. Bodyblocking (purposly, accidents happen), running the killler to you again and again (while you are injured and they are not, and they know you are there because of aftercare)fastvaulting to get the killer to get you of the hex totem so he can get the points for it, throwing a pallet in your face while you shield them from the killer because they are injured, stuff like that.

so basically just make so dbd doesn't let you play with friends?
Just say that, cause killers will just always opt out... Killing matchmaking and further killing the game.
Why would killer opt out? Unless it is broken and needs to change? you could balance SWF differently than solo survivor queues, its not that hard.

I really don't see any problem on locking solo or SWF loadout, I've never swaped surivor or my perks before the match starts, just items and offerings. It really doesn't affect the gameplay. There's really no harm on locking survivors.
Because you dont do it, noone needs to? That seems like a fair metric.
Lets disable swf, because i never play it (anymore), so noone needs it...
Yeah, i dont think thats how it works.
If i run plunderers instinct (which i do often) or Inner strength, i ask my fellow teammates if they themself run them, because some perks are just wasted in mutliples in a match, so no, i like to have the ability to switch out otherwise dead perks.

'Cause we know that the solo survivors are the problem right?
Well, you would be locking their loadout too if survivor loadout gets locked. Or do you have another proposal?

Isn't that technically the same with actual matchmaking. Which as of now isn't very pleasing to anyone. It's not matching players to anyone's caliber at the moment. So how would herding all those who dc together?
To be fair, this idea is like the Bad Sport Dunce cap player in GTA5 are handled. It's not much of a deterrent
While its not easy to measure skill, the flaw of the current matchmaking, its quite easy to track dc´s.
-
I play solo most of the time, and usually its your teammates that screw you over. Happens mostly after rank reset. Once you hit red ranks and are paired with red ranks, it gets better, altough you still get such teammates, but less often.
-
The problem with killer is this: If you as killer outskill your opponent, you can play nice and still win easy.
If you are outskilled, you are basicly helpless, because the whole game just runs away from you. And people don´t like feeling that helpless, no matter what they do. Camping and tunneling give them some control back, because while they lose the game anyway, they still accomplished something.
As survivor, thats usually not an issue, because even if you as an individual are outskilled, there are 3 more players doing stuff, and you can adept your playstyle way better. Hooked 2 times while the rest isn´t? Yeah, you play a little bit more carefull and avoid the killer. And you still do gens and even waste the killers time when he searches for you. You are still relevant in the game, no matter what. Even if you are camped, you buying your team time to win the game. Even then, you contribute.

But survivors loadout aren't. They should lock it untill the "log issue" is solved, so that some, not all, but some survivors can't build accordingly to the killer that they'll face.
So solo survivors have no way at all to coordinate?
-
@BaldursGate2 said:
They should just explain, why they don't lock the survivors as well.
Because the survivors share their rating, and you dont get easier games depending on the survivor you queue up with.
-
SWF doesnt have to be removed. It has to be seperated from solo queue, and both modes have to be balanced seperatly. If both are balanced, there is no need for killers to dodge swf, because the game would be balanced either way.

TBH I'm starting to think DC'ing is becoming a necessary evil. For context, I was in a game where the killer was just slugging everyone letting them bleed out, not picking up any survivor just to be toxic and waste everyones time. So my choice is to stay and waste my time getting nodded at by the killer or dc and take incremental time out ban. Players dcing is clearly a sign there is something wrong with the game, look back at old legion, we remember how fun it was being chased by a moonwalking no counter killer and the infinite mending exploit. As soon as the deep wound showed up in the hud the entire game basically dced or just ran up to the killer and wanted to be hooked.
But people still dc vs legion.

The #1 reason for DC is you camped/tunneled
Really, no. Most dc´s happen before the first hook, unless you can explain how the killer camp and tunnels without hooking.
Some dcs happen as soon as the players sees the map and/or killer, and the next once when the first player is downed.
Even then, camping and tunneling is no excuse, since they are legit strategies.
-
Just change the dc-penalties to karma matchmaking, you don´t even have to announce it. Just give players who dc a dc-flag internally, and if they reach a certain treshold, they are only matched with players of their "dc-level". That way, they can just ruin the games of each other, until they learn. And i don´t think they can complain about it, after all the other players just take the same rights they themself take too.
-
Thats true. A lot of players the the other party as the enemy, not the opponent, and surly not as the playpartner they are. Show your playmates some basic respect, thats not too much to ask for i think.
This is for killers and survivors.
-
But it wont help a lot. People will play less and less killer, because once a killer is nerfed, like bill now, survivor call for the next nerf, spirit in this case.
IT will hang on the new mmr-system, but for high rank survivors waiting times will either go trought the roof, because there are not many high skilled killers left, or the waiting times take priority to a fair match, and then the mmr is worthless.
Whats needed is a serious rebalancing of swf, which they are afraid to do.
-
Because killers have different abilitys, and play very differently, thats why they got seperate rankings, and thus you can´t change them, because you could queue up with a low rank killer and switch to a high rank one for easy matches.
Survivors, however, don´t have seperate ratings, since they are only skins anyway. Why is there a problem if they switch around? They have to coordinate with other survivors if they are solo.
-
And how would you prevent individual killer rankings from being abused?
-
How does it make one? I regular report players for insults, and i regular meet them again, still being toxic. doesn´t seem like repeated offences carry much of a penalty.
-
I dont understand. On the one hand, you rant that you get only red rank survivors as killer, on the other hand you want those groups go against low rank killers, right?
You rant about only seeing the same (the viable ones) killers, because you can´t steamroll low killers that way.
So balance clearly is not your concern.
The problem with swf is not a problem with matchmaking, but with swf. I have the hope that the new matchmaking makes this very visible, so something has to be done with swf.
The rest are balance issues that might get worked at if you have a good skillbased matchmaking.

Most of us who play this game play as survivors most of the time. We enjoy this game when it’s fair and we don’t have to play against impossible to beat killers. In my opinion, I think these people who are impossible to beat killers have become this way because A) First and foremost they don’t do anything with their life, other than play this game every waking moment of their day. And B)The devs are doing things with this game which make them virtually unstoppable (if not completely unstoppable.)
Just watch each game you are playing and notice how many times killers kill every survivor in the game. You will notice that in the VAST MAJORITY of these games, the killers win outright and not even one survivor escapes. And on top of that, the devs have now made it to where we as survivors cannot even see the auras of other hooked survivors???!!!
Guys, it’s time for us to quit. If DBD is gonna do this and make it so unbelievably unfair for the majority of us trying to playing this game then it’s time to walk away and do something else. If DBD wants us back then it’s gonna have to be on THEM to make some real changes to balance the game to bring us back.
2 Months ago, i posted this thread: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157195/222-games-as-solo-survivor-here-are-my-stats#latest
I kept stats for 222 games i played as solo survivor, including numbers of kills (and for later games numbers of gens done)
The average number of kills were 2,26, average number of gens were about 3,8.
My survival rate was about 75%, and then rank reset happend (i had started the games in red ranks), and it plummed to 62%. Until rank reset, 4k games happend just as often as 0k matches, so no, i didnt notice it was the vast majority of games.
But just take a look at the numbers in my thread, and think about keeping stats for yourself for some time. It really puts things into perspective.
-
The difference between mories and key is:
Moris change the balance of the game quite early, so they have a strong effect early on, and the whole game plays different, because it turned into a 3v1 quite early (worst case scenario, i know not all killer use it that way).
Keys "just" end the game a little sooner, meaning up till that point the game plays normal for all players, gens need to be done, survivors need to be hooked, and sometimes the game just ends with 4 gens done and one kill, or 3 gens done and 2 kills.
-
@Mooks said:
Isn’t there a colorblind mode in the mobile version? If so that might actually be a sign that they will add it later to the ‚normal‘ version, like they are apparently doing with the bots..
also aren’t there already colorblind people playing the game? I mean it’s not like they can’t play at all, and you can’t make the game accessible for every disability, especially if others could use it to gain unfair advantages (and there will be people abusing it). But I agree they should really work on a ‚fair‘ colorblind mode
I am colorblind, redblind specificly. I cant see blood, and scratchmarks only indoors. But as Survivor, auras were fine till now.
Killer auras were very depended on the map, on some they were fine, on most it was hard to see, on some (ormond for example) they were invisible. And it is hard to play killer if you have to search for gens because you cant see the aura.
Now with the changes, i can´t see totem auras or even traps as Trapper anywere on the map. As survivor, i can´t see hooked people, or slugged ones.

Name 1 killer perk that deactivates when you do your objective.
You people will complain about anything, and what about End Game?
If someone has DS available End Game will you still complain?
Of course you would, because you're changing scenarios by the day.
Insidious. the moment you move to chase and down a survivor it deactivates. Seems to fit your description.
-
Yes, but you also can go to a gen, wait till the killer leaves, repair for 20 seconds, and go to the next. the killer comes to the gen, searchs for you, kicks the gen and goes to the next, which you just left. The survivor can do gens for hours, as long as the killer kicks them, and still not being found.
Your idea solves nothing.
-
The point is time. The med kit heal a lot faster than self care can, just as toolboxes repair a lot faster.

hatch shouldn't be a thing in the first place. You lost, your team is dead.
Then what is your point? if the team is dead, hatch does nothing. If someone escapes through hatch, the team was not dead yet.
You simply contradict yourself.
-
Oh i am not the best of survivors, i will admit it, because i cant loop (mainly because i find running in circles boring), but for me its a hide-and-seek-game, and i can juke killers and lose them in a chase. But a lot of people just believe that being stealthy means you do nothing, and thats simply not true for many of us.
I think a part of the hate comes from the fact that if you have 2 stealhy players in the game, the killer keeps finding the other two time and again, instead of spreading hooks out. but if i get a good team, i will take over a chase and juke the killer, but only if i believe the team is worth it. (i play solo survivor most of the time).
Basicly its a: "i only died because you played different than i wanted you to"-argument from the people who think a killer that can´t be looped like a M1 killer is uncounterable.
