  • I actually think 2 different game modes, one for swf, and one for solo survivors, where you can balance both modes differently, so that both modes become fair for both sides. But SWF-players dont want that, because they are "punished" if they dont get an unfair advantage over the killer, and claim killers would just lobbydodge them, even though my proposal is based on both modes being fair because a different balancing might apply.

But i doubt devs will do it, so...

  • I dont think the new matchmaking will help. One of the balance problems is solo vs swf, and i doubt that can be fixed with a rated matchmaking at all.

  • thats often claimed, but in my experience not true at all. i kept stats for over 200 games, and only 10% had dcs or hook suicides. Now, its more like 50%.

  • Why? People deranking intentionally, because lower rank can benefit you with easier games vs less experienced opponents, while the benefit of high rank is what?

But this Thread shows why we need the dc-penalty.

Map i dont like -> DC

Killer i dont like -> DC

    getting outplayed -> DC

Something doesnt work well, but this time to my disadvantage -> DC

I am still for the Karma-Matchmaking, where you get flagged for dcing, and only matched with other dc-happy players. That way, they can ruin the game for each other.

  • Hmm, doesnt sound like they care. Well, not more i could do.

  • The point is that a lot of survivors try the same line of play with all killers. And with some of them, that line is good, for some of them it still works, but for some, it doesnt. But instead of adeptiong the playstyle vs those killers, they try their favorite one and then call the killer uncounterable.

  • So how do i know you are my killer, so i can avoid to annoy you? But if you never see me on a gen, how do you know i was doing nothing all game? Just because you didnt see? I am just curious, how do you know?

I do play stealthy, but i always do gens (in a lot of matches, most of them), i unhook, but i dont come to the camper alone, i dont fall for that. I cant loop, but i can juke (and urban helps here).

  • But couldnt you just bring perks to counter huntress and moris? Bring a key, bring left alone, and wait till they all did their hook suicides. I mean, you get them every game, so you can plan accordingly, can´t you?

  • No, i only used the ingame report system. If thats not enough to file a report, why is it there in the first place?

  • The Hills have eyes (Original Version, not the Crappy Remake)

    Killer: Pluto

    Survivor: Ruby, or Brenda/Bobby Carter

A movie that really showed what i like in horror movies. And despite using the same dialoges, the remake has just twisted the tone around 180°.

  • Well, the solution is simple. Bring an obsession perk.

  • The counter i use on her is the one i use on most killers: Not getting found, including dodge bbq. Also, even with stridor (but notice that i always run iron will anyway) you can double back most spirits, simply because they are not used to it. Like survivors, most follow the "usual" path.

But i agree that a stridor spirit is one of the hardest to juke.

  • @SweetTerror said:

I too would like to see changes made to WGLF. In its current state it's used to farm bloodpoints and nothing else, whereas BBQ has the added advantage of highlighting survivor locations. So my question is, why can't the same work for WGLF? If the Killer is outside of a certain radius, then why can't we see the killer's aura when pulling a survivor off of the hook? If nothing lights up - just like with BBQ - then we know they're close by.

bbq can be countered by lockers and genauras, as well as being inside the radius. What counter do you propose for WGLF, since you want it on paar with bbq? also, should it work on unhooks only then? Because bbq surly doesnt work on hits.

  • I have dozens of screenshoots where i got more points than the killer. But usually it is not just a 5 minute game, but a longer one.

Dont rush gens, and you might get more points.

The only thing i think that needs to change is survival. There is not much you can do vs. all killers to get those points, other than surviving. I would like to reduce the survival bonus from 5000 to 2000, but give bonus points for each other surviving team member (giving an incentive to help others come out instead of just leaving them or lead them to the slaughter), as well as additional events that give points in this category.

The problem is, i meet people who dont do totems (unless its a hex) because it takes time away from gens, but also dont do gens because holing m1 is boring. They just run behind the killer with a flashlight and then cry for not having points.

In my games, i never seek a chase with a killer, but if he finds me, i am in it. A killer stun nets you 1k bp, a dull bone as well, and a hex nets you even 1.5k bp. Easy to max out boltness, because nearly noone else does bones.

Do gens with other people. Its a litte inefficient, but you get the individual gen done faster (so it cant be regressed), and you gain a cooperation bonus. 3 gens done with someone else, 1 done alone, you maxed out (or close to)

Unhook 3 survivors and heal them, maxed out.

It doesnt take too much to get points as survivor, but you have to do different things, not focus on just running the killer "because thats what makes the game fun".

Honestly I dont trust the data. It only works when the devs feel like using it.

X amount of matches had ruin, nerf ruin.

X amount of matches have DS, do nothing?

As for the hillbilly changes. I fear this is going to be like the nurse rework. It will weaken the killer, less people will play them and more will switch to spirit. If they even stick around. Hope to the Entity that there's no bugs in billys rework because if it's anything like nurses. Those bugs will not be fixed.

X amount of matches had ruin was never the reason, it was only part of the reason. The other part only became important because of the high use.

Its just not the same case with ds.

I am not sure if you understand that, or if you are mispresenting it on purpose, to suit your "argument".

Thats also the reason why devs stop publishing statistics, because a lot of people dont know how to interpret them, and most not even realize which data they are missing for a valid interpretation.

I was waiting for the toxic one. I dont hate any at all. DS has no effect on me killer or survivor and neither does Spine Chill. Im a KILLER MAIN and I hate NOED

I am a survivor main, and i don´t. despite what others say, i play solo survivor most of the time, and i can do all bones, without perks or items dedicated to it. Because totem spawns are only semi-random, AND i can count to 5 by myself.

Yeah, you just need a little time at the beginning of the game to do them. if your team is halfway decent, its easy, because two will do gens and one will be in a chase. IF your team is made of potatoes, you are screwed anyway.

  • I play stealthy and usually do about 3+ gens each game. Most of the time i get the most bloodpoints, because i do unhooks, gens, totems.

A stealth player either wastes time of the killer for free (because he is not found), or he can hop back to the gen instantly because the killer just runs to the next one.

Or in other words: stop trying to force your playstyle on other players, you little one-trick-pony BECAUSE ITS NOT YOUR PLACE TO DECIDE HOW OTHER PLAYERS PLAY!

  • yeah, there was a thread for colorblind support for about 1,5 years, and nothing happend.

The first event i played was a summer event with those soda-machine-gens. They had a different aura i could see pretty well, so even the other color auras were already in the game. but noone cared. I cant see blood, scrachmarks or auras, depending on the map. Sucks.

As for your nerve damage, i use a keyboard-macro to just tap one button to survive (unless some lagspike, which have happened).

Either get a programmable keyboard, or use a macro-recorder software, something like autohotkey? Might help easily.

Survivors losing a killer by running past a few walls says a lot more about the lack of skill of the killer and their inability to follow simple scratch marks and sound than it does about the skill of a survivor.

I am colorblind, and i cant see scratchmarks. What exactly does that say about my lack of skill?

  • Insidious, and no mither.

Insidious promotes camping, and no mither is mostly used by people who cant handle it, leaving their fellow survivors in the dirt.

I'm the bones doer from every match I get into buddy. To the point that my friends usually joke about it whenever they see a totem, they go like "huh there's a totem here COME QUICKLY!!!" And I still think NOED should be nerfed. I agree that a lot of survivors are ######### and won't do the damn bones, though. Today I walked by a bunch of gens that had already been done by other survivors and the perfectly visible totems standing next to them were still there, standing.

Also, the main objective of the killer is to kill, of course, if you fail to kill the survivors then the gens get done ---thus, if all the gens have been completed, you're failing at your task. If you kill everyone fast then the gens won't pop :P :P :P

No, the killer failed if the survivor escape, not if they finished gens. There are endgame builds, you know.

Oh okay so me being a rank 20 means my argument is as credible as a rank 1?

Just gonna ignore the rest of it, the 4 hour livestream, me playing mostly killer when I do stream unless a friend wants to swf, nope focus on the rank.

Well, you shouldnt ignore the experience a player has, and i believe rank does mean something. While it is easy to get in high ranks, there are still people who cant do that (as killer mostly), and thats because they lack skill (to keep up with their matches, often due to the said bad matchmaking).

But streaming is an argument for nothing, there are a lot of streamers who lack competence. Talking about corona on tv doesnt make trump a scientist, streaming their games and commenting doesnt make a streamer good or especially insightfull.

  • I dont know that guy, but i disagree with him. The point with spirit is not that it nullifies survivor skill, it just ask for a different skill than other survivors. People who have different playstyles from the common "loop the killer as long as you can" can handle spirit just fine.

  • I hope they dont do that. i am colorblind, and cant neither see blood nor scratch marks on most maps (on some maps, i cant even se generator and hook auras). Spirit is one of the few killers i can play against those swf 10 ranks higher than me and get some success, because i dont have to rely on her scratch marks.

IF you find her too easy, dont use her. For others, she is one of the few options.

If this game ever has a solid matchmaking, my opinion might change, but i dont think we get one.

  • Only people who botherd to post in this thread. And its not like this is the official poll to moris and keys.

But if it makes you think nearly everyone shares your opinion, it might help you relax a little.

I just wanted see some unbiased opinions when i read all those whining post i feel like solo q surv's should have 90% winrate after all every game after first chase there should be 3 gens done and it's just unrealistic scenarios that they have in their head.

I kept statistics about my solo survivor matches after the release of the deathslinger, and had over 250 games in record.

i started in red ranks, and had a survial rate about 75%. It only dropped after rank reset, where i suddenly had a lot of potatoes in my team. I ended up with a 68% escape rate as solo survivor.

And i cant even loop properly.

I think the game is very survivor sided, BUT different killers and maps require modified playstyles. A lot of survivors just dont like to change their routine, thats why you see a lot of whine threads about killers that are hard to loop, for instance.

Once SWF enters the picture, the balance just breaks. A 2swf might be ok, but i played in 3 and 4 swfs and rarly lost in red ranks. The information provided is just an advantage too big.

  • @Orionbash said:

I'm so tired of killers bringing a Mori. It is so heavily unbalanced and just not a fun match to play when you're in solo queue. If the trade off is to also disable keys, fine. I rarely bring them anyway.

So, its all about you? You dont bring keys often, so they can go? Sorry to burst your bubble, but the game isn´t meant to cater to you alone.

I bring keys, because i play solo survivor most of the time, and an early disconnect of hook suicide is too common to just end the game there.

The question is just how much people share your viewpoint rather than mine.

  • Well, i play solo survivor most of the time, and usually i just do all totems myself. There are a limited number of totem spots, and you can check them while going to an unhook or the next gen. Usually, it works for me. (but i was hit by noed after doing 4 totems too. it happens)

Also, i would like seperate lobbys better than bringing solos to swf level. The game is balanced around a lack of information, and i like that. Just adding more information to boost solos is therefore the wrong way (for me). But sure, its another way to balance.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Personally, I despise the perk and believe it needs a change. I believe, from my own experience, that NOED is a crutch for many bad killers who need it to do well in high ranks.

But I don't think it needs a nerf. NOED usually crushes solo teams but SWF are able to co-ordinate and prevent it from happening; the exact teams killers "need" NOED for it doesn't even work on. This is pretty stupid.

Instead give solo survivors a totem counter. In base-kit (or in Small Game could work but let's not give solos yet another perk that gives SWF info for free). Make Solo lives great again.

I made a pretty long thread about my exact thoughts on the perk and how I'd change it here, read it if you want:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/147264/hex-no-one-escapes-death

Well, one could argue that bad players shouldnt be playing against high ranks in the first place. But as they do, yes, they need something to boost them.

And make solo lifes great again can´t happen as long as the devs need to balance between solos and swf. They just need to split solo and swf play and rebalance both modes. If the match against solos is as balanced as against swf, there is also no reason not to play vs swf.

Also, i dont get the argument that noed rewards bad killers for failing their objective. Their objective is to kill the survivors. How exactly is it rewarding them for not killing anyone?

  • @shanny_boi said:

    :/ what can I say?

The matchmaking is horrible right now. It is why this game doesn't provide an enjoyable experience to many newer players. They get turned off by all the looping and overall, better performances by the high rank players they match with. It discourages them from playing and they most likely move on to something else I'd imagine. It's unfortunate, but there's suppose to be a new matchmaking system implemented. However, I honestly doubt everything will be better after that system is here.

How is it horrible "right now"? It has been like that for how many months? At least six, isnt it? At this point, it has nothing to do with "right now".

  • No, since its your job to be a killer for the survivors that want to play, not to get a fair match yourself.

  • So, and to compensate ph i would suggest you cant avoid being tormented just by crouching over a trail. You avoid the trail, or be tormented. Seems like a fair tradeoff, do you think?

  • Well, i would like some original killers so i can spent those 70k shards i have on anything

  • @microwavablefootball said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1393197#Comment_1393197

thats precisely why Im asking, it seems almost impossible for me to play well (Im pretty bad which is part of it) when I avoid tunneling. I get 4ks against brown/yellow rank 4heads but against red/purples I get 2ks or worse

Well, you should realize that the devs view a balanced match as a 2k. For me as a killer, personaly, a 0 or 1k is a loss, a 2k is an even game, a 3 or 4 k is a win.

It all comes down to what you enjoy, and what kind of killer you want to be. If you see yourself as a player in a multiplayer game (as you maybe should), then you dont ignore the survivor side. And not camping/tunneling makes for way better games. But only good killers can afford it.

When i play killer, yes, i camp and tunnel, but thats because i am a bad killer. I suck at chases, because as a survivor, i love stealth and juking the killer instead of outrunning him. But thus i dont have enough skill as killer. (Part of it is matchmaking. From time to time i am in a "fair" matched game, and then i neither tunnel nor camp. I dont need to, and because i don´t feel helpless all the time i dont care how much people i kill. The game is the goal, not the outcome)

So you have to decide which kind of killer you want to be. Successfull while low skilled and boring, camping and tunneling is your way to go.

Willing to accept those 2ks as a win (or at least a draw) and trying to get better at the game, so even your opponents enjoy your wins (because they feel fairer): Avoid moris, avoid tunneling (unless he runs straight at you), avoid camping (and its not camping if 2 survivors are already around the hook or a survivor you saw with bbq just runs you all the way back to the hook. Punish them so they will learn). But it will be more frustrating.

  • Yes, it is that bad because the killer tilts the game into his favour early by turning it into a 3v1. It actually all depends on how much the team got done in the meantime.

On the other hand, i kept stats for 222 games i played as solo survivor, and there were very few 3 and 4k that didnt involve camping, tunneling and/or a mori. Its hard for killers to keep up.

  • Just another player thinking there is only one way to play the game, and tries to force his view on others.

Well, you might be right about efficency, but who cares about that? Efficency give you wins, granted, but it also makes the game boring.

Why should someone abandon a playstyle he likes to win a game thats not worth playing for him anymore?

    So, no.

  • But survivor is far easier and yet more powerful than killer. Anyway, do you have any proof for your claims?

  • Solo survivors need an incentive to keep playing if the killer tunnels, moris, or the random dwight just disconnects or suicides on hooks.

That incentive is the hatch, but the hatch is killersided. The key is an item to improve the chances of the survivor.

Otherwise, a lot of people more would hook suicide if the first player dies with no gens done.

  • Well, it depends. I reported a killer because the survivor he gave the hatch to had during the game

a)pointed the killer to hidden survivors

b)bodyblocked chased survivors so killer could get an easy hit

    c) unhooked in front of the killer.

If that survivor is given the hatch, i report for them both working together. Up to that point, it could just be an antimate-survivor, but if the killer rewards him with the hatch, i say its working together.

If you play a normal game and the killer gives the hatch to the last survivor, or the survivor he thinks deserve it the most, thats ok.

  • No it wont. Devs rightly believe its fine, so there is no reason to change it. Here, thats your answer. (survivor main btw)

  • How about if a survivor is on the hook and the killer is not near, only the gen with the lowest progression can be worked at. That would give an incentive not to camp. Why not just change it that way?

  • @DBD_Pinhead said:

There shouldn't be any reason that a P3 Claudette should blow a gen in the first 10 seconds of the game. TWICE. Or stay in the basement after being rescued. Or keep struggling on the hook when your P2 clone screwed the team with boneheaded plays where not a single gen gets by the time there's one person left that's even putting progress on them, and doing bones, AND rescuing said Claudettes. These things have happened with every game I've played tonight so far. I been debating making a post about the concentration of the scrub players for a while but it's like they all suck. I don't even expect ones without special skins to ever make the right play but you would think that P1-P3 wouldn't be playing like 20s yet here we are.

So, for what p3 character is it ok to blow up gens? because i see lots of others doing it as well.

I just think that advanced claudettes dont use the usuall "just run around a mindless loop" approach. I for one juke the killer, but that "sets him free" to go after someone else, even if i wasted 2 or 3 minutes of his time. And i see players thinking that if the killer dosnt hook you at the end, you didnt occupy him. But not everyone likes the same playstyle.

  • Well, i am using up my ebony moris at the moment, because every one is crying for them to be nerfed. I waited with my instaheals till i need them, and by then, they were mostly useless. I dont want to get the same with my ebonys, so now i use them all up. Makes for relaxing games. But since i am paired against red ranks 10+ranks above my killer rank anyway, no, i dont have any feeling of guilt or something about it.

  • yeah, but adrinaline triggers of gens, not hooks.

  • @Withered said:

Also, the only real rule to it's spawn location is that it can only spawn on the main floor of a level, or in basements that aren't THE basement. It cannot spawn upstairs on any map including the game. Specified because the exit gates are on the second level, but the hatch cannot be up there

Not true (anymore). The first time i took the hatch on the new map, it was on the stairs landing between first floor and ground floor.

My guy it's a video game and most swfs aren't death squads. The game certainly isn't balanced, but not many people are actually all that good at exploiting it

And he is not every killer, you know that, too? So whats the problem with one killer doing that?

  • Or give survivors the ability to nullify this ability. Like, PH can only do it if the survivor has a status effect he could have avoided or something. Hey wait a minute...

To me, it seems the devs have decided. Perk =/= offering.
