Bubba is a killer i really hate going against if he's good and not just memeing. The only real counterplay is genrushing, because as soon as all the pallets are gone he will snowball like crazy, more like most other killers.
Lately played against some good Tricksters, i think he is fairly strong now. Nemesis is also not that bad in the right hands. People slowly start to learn and master killers, that's why i'm usually against fast buffs. I think some killers got overbuffed lately. Some people play 3 games and then expect to know every aspect of the power and when to use it, and if they don't dominate every team after 3 games the killer is weak.
-
Well i've seen some hackers but they're not common. Just lately played against a Trapper with some kind of fire cosmetics (like some kind of ultra legacy), who had some hacks which made finishing gens impossible, because skillchecks were non existent and as soon as you miss one all the progress got reseted to 0. Also he was like 200% speed when carrying people.
-
I play this game since almost 2 years now, i would say killer has become much easier against your usual pub teams but i feel that swf's and good survivor have adapt to the changes during the last 12 months. They know it's better to split up and deny the snowball, pre-throw pallets because their mates are doing gens, they know how to abuse strong loops and how to counter some cheesy killer tactics and so on. During MMR where i faced mostly experienced and good survivors, you could easily see that, after they turned it off i rushed to rank 1 again in no time.
-
Same, Enduring is getting a revival possibly :/
-
Would be cool to have an non-totem auto-regress perk, but with something like 75% of the speed.
-
I'm pretty sure the license holders give a ######### about his shred activating 0.2 miliseconds faster or his portals cleansing time being 1 second longer. Contracts are different and can be very detailed but most of the time it only involves names and appearences, not actual ingame abilities. Using portals is probably not protected by the license holders. They probably don't have a clue about Dbd and how it works, so why should they make up their mind about small balance changes? All they care about is people making money with their stuff, and that's not possible anymore after this date, so...
-
i think the path to rank 1 is individually difficult for everyone, depending on the mmr level where you were starting. If you were rank 5 but had a low mmr, getting to rank 1 could possibly be more easy. Even though in theory (if it works perfectly) ranking up should have the same difficulty for everyone because the opponents exactly match your skill level. But i think that some people got higher mmr than they should and some lower than they should.
In the past, i was rank 1 as killer most of the time like 2-3 days after rank reset but since mmr is active i struggle to get past rank 4. As survivor, i had some bad solo games and deranked back to 5 before the reset, so i started at 9 and i'm close to rank 6 now (but i was playing swf most of the time over the weekend)

Oh these kinds? Never seen it in a match but I have seen videos.
I met 2 of those like half a year ago, they could hook (and unhook) themselves everywhere and then just float around the map while still on hook and the killer could do nothing. They could also insta heal.
These kind of hackers know they will get reported and banned, they just wanna have fun for an evening or so. I fear more those who only give themselves "small" benefits like auras, small speed boosts, going through walls and stuff. If they play it smart it's hard to prove those things.
-
yeah i had some strange occurrences lately like 1 killer could find me in a corner without aura perks or add ons and one survivor running faster than me even with Bloodlust. Can't prove anything here unfortunately.
Then i met 2 Fengs running the new cosmetics which aren't out yet (but got leaked on Youtube, that's why i know) but somehow they got it. As they realized i'm a Wraith they came to me and wanted to suicide.
-
Depends on how the game went and especially on how good the survivors were. If they were really good and i was expecting to get destroyed, i feel good, but if i messed up and could have got an 4k with some better plays it feels like a loss. If i played "fair" and got a lot of hooks, a 2k is alright, but sometimes i just can't feel good immediately when it could have been a 4k if i would have played more smart.
-
i think they choosed the right things but the execution was bad. RPD was my biggest wish, Nemesis is a great choice for me (i played Re2 and 3 back then). But he plays kinda boring, not a really interesting power design and i'm tired of ranged killers. Even though the idea with the zombies is good. He is iconic as is the RPD and i like the sound snippets they putted into some rooms (which has bell sounds like the original RPD soundtrack). BUT the map is absolutely horrible to play. It will need ages to get good on it. They should have got more creative and not just copied the original map into the game. If they would have made it more like Midwich (symmetric, logic design, middle sized) it would be fine.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Ranks do mean something and most of what you said i know already and the rest i just dont agree with. I know how good i am at this game and honestly i would never say x player is better than me because i know how good "I" am. Top players whether they are survivors or killers are not that different from eachother so comparing players in this game is pointless. YOU can say that those players are better than you but i will never say such a thing, this is not a fighting game where you can measure how good or bad a player is comparable to yourself. I dont need to get "better" at DBD im already godlike. The ceiling for ability in this game is not "that" high like your making it out to be. I can make conclusions and opinions about the game because i've played it a long time, and im great at it. Im a killer main but im very good with survivor too. All that means is that if something is on the line i would play killer or just that im more adaptive to playing killer bc i dont like the fact that i have to rely on another person to determine whether i win, lose, unhooking me etc.

Me too, it sucks!

Well said! Its one thing to say that ranks dont matter "much" but people are saying that it doesnt matter at all which is absolutely crazy thinking to me.
oof you're very humble. I can't evaluate that but i can see differences in the playstyle of various top streamers and players, so... there are differences for me.
Doesnt change the fact that showing ranks doesn't really help you in any case. What is the gain in knowledge? Do you feel better if it was a rank 1 or feel worse if it was a rank 9?
-
horrible on my (killer) side, last game they made 4 gens before i got my first down, something that hasn't happened to me in ages. Games are way too sweaty, i need to hope i even get a kill and need to play absolutely merciless and need to abuse every abundance of DS
-
Hidden ranks have changed nothing, why should it? I knew before that there are good players who don't play often, some even derank. I mean watch Ayrun for example, he was rank 9 the last time i watched a youtube video of him. If i get sweaty team i get a sweaty team, doesn't matter for me if they're red or green ranks.
-
As many people already said, ranks don't say anything because of various things. The fact that red rank players are usually better than yellow ranks doesn't change that the current ranking system has flaws.
If you're that analytical you will have a hard time with Dbd, this game is super random. It's not a game where you can nail down the skill of a killer with some one-dimensional values like "kills per minute" or something like that. Every match is different. You can play against the same team 10 times and the outcome will always be different, if you have appr. the same skill level. Of course there are better or worse killers in the game, but the only way to tell this is to watch them and make long term studies. I'm also rank 1 most of the time and i'm pretty sure i'm not as good as Otz or other more famous killer players. Why? I just watch them and see them make plays i wouldn't in those situations. Of course there is no measureable value for these kind of things - you have to watch and analyse decision making, movement - it's not a simple to explain-skill like "aiming fast and precise in an ego-shooter".
If you want to get better, record your games and analyze. Ranks won't help you explaining why you made a misplay or lost or won or whatever. I really don't understand this. Since ranks are not a mirror of the survivors skill, what value does it have to see if the survivor who juked you was green or red? You have to understand the ranking system first, then you can make conclusions out of it.

Are Gen Speed fine then? Why is still not balanced out? IS this what I'm gonna face in future forever as a Killer with High MMR?
Why is this even a question? They had 3 toolboxes with BNP and probably used all of them at this one gen (which is extremely stupid, if they would have splitted up and used those individually you would have had a harder time). This is an extreme example and will not happen in your usual dbd pub match.
Losing 1 or 2 gens in higher ranks is completely normal and means nothing. Even if they split up and do 3 during the first chase (even tho it's not optimal for you), you can still win. Depends on various things.
You even said you're doing fine without add ons, and funnily this is something i've encountered multiple times in dbd - killers who are relatively good and doing fine complain the most, if in 1 out of 10 matches they don't get a flawless victory and completely destroy survivors. Since the MMR is active again i have to deal with all the bullshit 24/7, survivors abusing every single thing in their favour, toxic behaviour which makes me toxic in the next game, full meta perk setups, map offerings etc., it's just not fun, so survivors inappropriately using BNPs to do a single gen very fast and give you (thanks to boring Tinkerer) a big snowball potential, is in my opinion not the biggest issue right now.
-
my experience:
KILLER: like during the last test, extremely sweaty, when i win it was very close and hard (which is ok i guess but also tiring after 2,3 matches), most of the time i get my hooks but only 0-2 kills. When i get stomped for 2 matches in a row i get an easy one where i dominate, then the circle continues... i don't see myself playing very often when this is my general experience with my mains
SURVIVOR: played with friends yesterday, extremely sweaty (compared to last test), 6k hours huntress who tunneled me out at 4 gens was my first match, we won some but most games were against unfun add ons or unfun perk setups and killers who hard-tunneled and proxy camped. Well, can't blame them, they probably didnt had a good time most of the matches. Solo was better (my friends MMR is probably higher than mine), generally more chill, teammates were ok, won some lost some.
I still don't think MMR is a good idea. I think some of the fascination for this game lies in the unpredictability. If everyone plays this game like a sport i see a lot of the more casual players leaving.

This goes both ways.
Sadly, most of the time, when the killer is playing nice. The survivors either say nothing or BM after the match.
Yet survivors are surprised that killers suddenly don´t play nice anymore.
when i give hatch i often get a "thanks killer" in aftergame chat, sometimes +rep on my steam profile.
It's true that survivors often aren't nice to bad killers while killers are at least a little bit more often nice to bad survivors. But there is also not much you can do as survivor except for letting yourself killed.

No those are just regular totem spawns. I honestly don't know why they haven't deleted those yet.
The gen spawns are also "normal". For reference I had a game on rpd where the central hall had three gens.
ive never seen totems spawning so close to each other and i run detectives regularly. They were on the same lawn on haddonfield, in the corner. And that gen thing also felt very different from what i've seen, but 3 gens in main hall also sounds horrible. Maybe was just crazy luck for me
-
I think Kindred being basekit could be too much. You also see the gens that get repaired and maybe need to get finished. I think this would give survivors a massive boost. Pretty sure that killers will complain if suddenly every team is on semi-swf-levels.
But i think seeing the killers aura around the hook (16-24m) would be a good thing, to counter camping. Even though it kinda counters stealth killers because you can see in which direction they are going.
-
Hag (thank god, hate most of them), Billy, Trapper, Plague, Oni, Twins, maybe Demo... i actually also don't see a lot of Spirits. Trickster has also been fairly rare for me, besides the rework. But yeah the first 6-7 are probably the rarest.
I actually see quite a few Myers and also Pigs, at least in the last week.
EDIT: Ghostface is also very rare, kinda forgot about him.
-
For me, killer is much more fun than survivor right now except if you're playing in a competent swf (which i did during the event, it was actually fun again). But solo? Even 2-man? I'd rather play killer and lose 1 of 5 matches because i actually get a good squad. In all the other matches you have the usual DC/suicide or the survivors are just not good enough or have a disadvantage because of no comms. I win far more games as killer than i escape as solo/ 2-man.

They should just rework the ranking system and ways to get pips.... it would be easyer and just as good if not better
I would also welcome a band aid solution, i don't think there will ever be a good working MMR for everyone. If the ranks would have actual meaning it would fix some of the problems. One way would be changing the rank reset. Another would change the matchmaking so you can only matchup with people +/-4 of your rank or something like that. At least for 5 minutes, then it can gradually widen the pool.

Ok. I said Wraith was the counter. You're right. 🙃
And survivors still use it because it's still a mixup.
i'm a wraith main and this doesn't make sense to me. You can bait DH as Wraith by clicking M2 (first seconds of the bell animation look like he's about to hit and many fall for it in the heat of the moment). But how do you counter DH for distance? A good survivor will not use DH while youre cloaked, there is no reason, and if you mean the speed boost afterwards, if they time DH right they will just dodge you. Also, that's not exactly a "DH for distance" situation. No one will DH for distance while you're cloaked, they can just position themselves while youre uncloaking.
-
This game is only survivor sided if there are 4 survivors and a killer of equal skill and the survivors are working together coordinated (swf). Since this game is heavily RNG based (also the matchmaking) you won't have this situation very often. A very bad looper can be enough for the killer to get an entry to the game even if it's against a swf. In most games there is a chance for the killer if he finds the potato first and gets an easy down. A 3v1 is hard for the survivors because slugging is a very powerful tool in this situation.
But yes, in higher levels this game is survivor sided because everyone plays optimally and efficient, and if everyone can loop it can be very hard to even get one kill...
-
I don't like it too and was on the receiving end more than often, but it's unfortunately necessary on highest ranks if you play for kills, maybe not straight from the beginning but in later game definitely. There is a difference between hard tunneling like a bot straight from the start of the match and throw the game OR punishing survivor mistakes and add pressure. If you unhook in my face and the unhooked surv is running into me because they think i give them their BT hit, i will just wait it out and then down them. If you don't heal up and i run into you 30 seconds after unhook, i will not spare you. If i see the chance for a slug i will use it. Going for all 4 survivors at once, hooking everyone alternately, only works with bad matchmaking or chill squads. If there are only 2 or 1 gens left, i need a kill to win.
I still think it's kinda scummy and unnecessary to tunnel the weak link out at 5 gens, making the game kinda boring and miserable for everyone, but i understand that every killer has to get a kill before all the gens are powered.

I am also really hating the event stuff and am really glad the 2X is about to go away soon
There seems to be nothing but people who don't use the cakes but play like they're fighting for their damn life in the game when I use my cake. I've stopped using the cakes, which makes me feel bad when I actually get games with people who are using their cakes too but games where everyone is using BPS Party Bonus items have easily been the exception, not the rule all damn weekend.
At least on the killer side I have a bit more leeway when it comes to try harding and letting survivors who use cakes go but I put everything to my normal build now and just don't use it if in the rare instances I do run into a cake party (like Bloodwarden where it'll be equipped but I won't do anything to force it to activate if the survivors brought cake). I'm sure they'd rather me bring a cake but I'm sick of pissing these things away on people just flying through the game and/or disconnecting at the smallest of inconveniences.
i only use cakes when playing with friends or as killer when i think they're chill. Using cakes solo has nearly always been a waste, so i stopped doing it.

Tunneling is fine whenever the player thinks it is to their advantage. Sure, it sucks as a survivor, I hate it when I get tunneled, but the truth is, it is more of a problem with my lack of ability than it is with the killer. No one wants to admit this, but only bad or entitled players complain about tunneling.
Majority of people say that the chase and interacting with the killer is the most fun part, so naturally, tunneling shouldn't be an issue. The problem arises when people think that the killer should give them a chance to regroup, though they'd never do the same for the killer. Rather than taking responsibility for their or their teammates incapability, they usually resort to attacking the killer player for not playing in a way that they want them to play.
Also, it is mandatory to tunnel every little turd who does their best to tank a hit with Borrowed Time when it is obvious the killer is going for the unhooker.
the problem is, there are many situations where you can't do anything because you got hooked in a deadzone or stuff like that. Of course you can say "killers wanna win, it's just the rational decision and not their fault" but then it's a game balance problem. It's a very cheap playstyle that often gets rewarded. I think a lot of the game balance was getting hold together by killers playing "fair" and not hard tunneling every match and pre-nerf DS being very common. Now that DS is gone more or less, killer gameplay has gotten much easier if you don't care about a good, exciting game and just wanna win for your ego (by securing the win early).

at this point there are more serious issues to consider anyway. Sure those perks are strong in combination but considering the survivors always run the same boring small pp build themselves there really arent that many viable perk setups for killers anymore.
Ive not seen the small pp build in ages. DS was on at least 50% of the survivors before the nerf, now maybe 1 survivor every 2 matches has it....

@GrimoireWeiss said:
Because doing two totems isn't that hard.
Alright, if it would be so easy no killer would run totem perks, but ive seen Ruin or Devour or Noed in nearly 75% of my matches? Finding totems can be pretty rough especially if you're not on voice comm, the killer is chasing and quickly switching to defending the totem, or generally if he already has pressure in form of hooked survivors. I know that you can get very bad spawns but no one would play these perks if they would get cleansed after 30 seconds in EVERY match.
-
I've played against several ones with "normal" add ons in the last days, but yeah in red ranks a lot are running his instakill or infinite tier 3 add ons. And if you see a map offering for Lerys, Hawkins or Midwich there is a good chance it's a Mirror-Myers
-
And can you please stop making balance assumptions from this kind of content?
On the one side you have tournament-experienced players who play this game for a living (Dowsey was the only survivor who's maybe a mediocre red rank, Otz maybe a bit better -> at least in terms of looping), so obviously they can win most of the games against the usual pub-killers, the excitement comes from the fact that they can only die a few times. So saying "they couldn't reach red ranks, killers OP" is also wrong. You can die quickly in Dbd, even if you're the much better player, there are so many crutches in the form of perks, add-ons, tactics. We all facecamped that one god survivor who was bullying us when we were new ;)
edit: keep in mind they also don't have full meta perk setups and no items

Staying in red ranks is easier than reaching red ranks, as your only requirement is to get a safety pip. To get to red ranks you need to consistently pip up, and this is a struggle in purple ranks, it was for me at least when I was still learning Killer, and started facing good teams. Survivor however, see my previous post, you are guaranteed safety pips by just participating in the game, even if you lose, so reaching red ranks is just a matter of playing enough games.
not from my personal experience. I'm still purple as survivor (was rank 1 once, but haven't played survivor for a while last winter and struggle to go back to red since). I personally find survivor much harder right now than killer - i'm rank 1-2 as killer for at least 1 year or so (except for the week after rank reset). I'm probably way worse as survivor than killer, but my personal feeling is that killer has become much easier in the last months. The DS nerf was imho unhealthy for the game balance.
When i play killer and i want to win, and survivors start to play sweaty (split up, doing 3 gens before i got a hook or stuff like that) i just start to play scummy - you can easily tunnel people out since on one uses DS anymore, and (proxy-) camping also works very often, to make sure they get into second stage if the rescue doesn't happen fast enough. It's unfun for everyone and dumb of course, but it works more often than not, that's why even red rank killers are doing it so often. Note that there is a difference between mindlessly chasing one survivor and throwing the game/ facecamping someone without reason, not patrolling gens - and the stuff that i mentioned, "tactical tunneling/camping".
-
Honestly, against average survivors i don't find this map very problematic except for the annoying "oh killer comes i jump out of the window"-thing which costs time but you can sometimes bait it. Maybe it's because i play mostly stealth killers idk. To play this map and the loops well as survivor you actually need some knowledge (house of pain, myers house) which loops are strong and how to run them, in my experience the average survivor doesn't know that and runs to the unsafe pallets on the street. (Against strong survivors this map is hell of course)
Personally I think braindead maps that give survivors 30 pallets in a row are more annoying (Ormond, Cowshed, the Game).

Honestly, I'd be all for the map getting two variants, one with the east wing blocked off, and one with the west wing blocked off.
But claiming that it "doesn't work in DBD" is a baseless claim. It's not like other maps, that doesn't mean it's wrong for the game, its something new, and it does work, because I've succeeded on this map as both killer and survivor, so there's nothing 'broken' about it or it's implementation in the game.
You've probably also won against every killer at least 1 time and you've also won on every other map on both sides at least 1 time. Doesn't mean anything. It's new and no one knows how to abuse things yet. Most things people complain about on this forum (Spirit etc) don't have 100% win rate. I've won on both sides too and i still don't like this map. Maybe it will change after playing for the 100th time on it i don't know, i just know that i didnt complain about Midwich much, which is one of the most hated maps. And i'm a very big fan of the setting but gameplay wise it's just not fun.

It's not, actually. It's crappy game design that only works retroactively. And I bet your escapes would shoot up if you stop wasting your time and let whatever teammate is also trying the same thing do their thing.
It can't be a coincidence that every time I put on a totem build and try going for totems, I lose more trials. Every single time. That is what is known as a "pattern", and what is linking them is "doing bones"
I run a totem perk every game, all 3 of them are great imo and have their pro's and con's, Detective's is the best i think. You don't have to do every of the 5 dull ones if the match is close and sweaty, just do some and remember the places, then if NOED kicks in go for them. Thats how i do it. I feel completely naked without totem perk, and it's extremely frustrating to go against Devour or Ruin without this help. It will always be a gamble, but i think they're not as bad as most killers say. A ruin that lasts longer than 3 minutes or a Devour with 3 tokens can easily carry you through the whole game, not to mention NOED which can turn things completely around if played correctly

i think its a fair exchange, they dont get BP or any progress on their challenge. Hatch is sometimes the only thing that gives you hope in solo Q

I dont agree with the OP but can you guys stop with this stupid justifys everytime?
,,Why did you killed the 99 year old man?"
,,It didnt matter for him anyway, he would have passed away soon anyway."
Just one example of that stupid logic.
i don't justify this, i'm all for deleting bugs out of the game, but he was referring to the justified DH-console complains and said "stop complaining..." (which is the same kinda) while he obviously wasn't really affected by this. I haven't seen this bug in my killer games. Besides that, i fear some people will try to influence the community opinion with stuff like this, because they fear the "solidarity" shifts towards survivors.
-
Was obviously not a problem for you, if you have 6 hooks at 3 gens left.

actually a good idea, in Tekken for example you can see the DC rate under the player name during the loading screen, and people with a very bad DC rate can only play against each other.

But is that enough a reason to say she takes little to no skill to play? I've met Pig players with more success than Spirit players who have more hours also
i personally think she takes more skill than people give her credit. I don't wanna compare, everyone's saying "harder/ easier than x", i don't think that matters because there are many factors and preferences. My personal win rate with her is currently lower than with Wraith for example, i play her without Stridor and only with yellow/green add-ons. When a survivor manages to mindgames me i often feel lost because with 110% and without power you're kinda helpless, especially if you need to go to the other side of the map to a gen for example. I also feel that, compared to a year ago, the red rank players have gotten much better against her, the braindead "running in a straight line"-survivors are not as common anymore.
I think its also a lot of preference, some people have no problem with seeing little glimpses of grass moving far away while others need the visual feedback of a survivor running in front of them. I know people who tried her multiple times and said they hated playing her.
From a survivor view, most Spirits i got matched with lately relied on "unfun" playstyles (proxy camping, hard tunneling the first survivor they downed, NOED). She is, unfortunately, really good if you play her like this.
-
i usually give Feng the hatch if i hadn't to kill her before because of reasons.
If a survivor begs for hatch i usually have mercy with the exception that i have a challenge or need some pips for next rank.
Not a hard rule, but sometimes if a team played very well without being annoying or "toxic" i respect that and give hatch to the last or the best survivor.
-
Windstorm is still strong, i consider it still one of his best add ons. Why not making one of his strengths even better? I don't like PWYF personally. He is still not S or A tier. I had a long win streak with him before the reset (you know, where basically everyone is in high red ranks) but the last days some better survivors showed me how to play against a wraith. Denying the snowball is the key, use every ressource possible without making much mistakes, while the others stay on gens, then he feels like old wraith. His abbility to play around pallets on some map is not very strong. May be useful on very unsafe pallets but i could get a hit with most of the other killers there too.

* Probably the easiest killer to pick up and play
* Has map mobility
* Is not map dependent
* Has a lunge that can shut down a lot of loops
* Can sneak up on survivors
* Gets the first hit very easily
* Incentivizes the survivors to heal. Making them waste time healing so they don’t get snuck up on by an easy first hit.
* Can shred through pallets with specific add-ons.
This is why a lot of people are playing Wraith. Why not play him when he’s so damn easy and strong?
Play him at highest level and you will see how easy you can make him suffer. Getting all of the pallets out of the way is enough time for a good team to do 5 gens. He's a noob destroyer for sure, but good survivors will play it safe and run to nearby loops as soon as they recognize him. Mindgaming them is also very hard, which means you have to shred most pallets. You have no ranged attack which could help you playing around this and the speed boost has only high value on some very unsafe loops. Playing around this by "hit&run" only works if your ambushes are successful, if not you have wasted a lot of time. He's definitely better than before, his mobility, missing TR, versatility (you can run many different perk builds with him) and strong add-ons make him viable, but he's far from being OP or S-tier.

No, it isn't. There's no point in playing if you're not trying to win. At that point you could just go screw around in GMOD and get the same result without ruining someone else's game because of your arbitrary definition of 'fun' that leads to you playing the game poorly, which hurts my fun.
wow, ok. So your fun is more important? Everyone can play the game however they want. I know people who just want to be "there" and feel the atmosphere, make some bloodpoints, get stacks etc., and then there are people who think you can play pub-dbd in a competitive way (besides all the crazy RNG and matchmaking) and the ultimative goal is a 4k/ 4 escape as fast as possible. "Sweaty" does exist for me, my personal definition is players, who just want to win as hard as possible, using/ abusing unbalanced stuff and mechanics, players who always go with the current meta, using cheesy crutches every game because a lose is unacceptable. And therefore making the game unfun for most other people. This "i don't care about your fun i just want to win"-attitude is perfectly fine but it's also fine if people call out their anger about it.
