It takes you two seconds to snuff out a totem, while survivors waste 15/25. Just do bones and use the time they wasted on them, nothing hard about that.

I’ve had more problems with boon totems on the survivor side. My teammates just endlessly bless totems, very costly.

I'm using it regularly on my survivors and it's the strongest perk survivors got for a while. Especially when i play with friends, but even solo it's very good because everyone can hear the blessing and see the totem. You don't need med-kits and can bring toolboxes or something else instead. You don't need any other perk for healing or finding mates (i was using self care and botany together sometimes when i didn't had a med kit and was solo - i'm wasting much less time now). The time it gives you back especially if you heal each other in its radius is immense, mainly because killers rarely cleanse it. The sound radius is not that big and most killers haven't adapted yet, they only cleanse when you lead them to the totem. Going out of your way to find a totem as killer because they heal up super fast every time is big for the survivors.

They really need to nerf this perk. Give it some bigger sound radius, make the effect a little bit weaker. At least give us a counterperk (the Dbd way of nerfing things) to see those totems. Don't get me wrong, i hope they don't destroy it, i'm glad i've got something new to shake up my survivor builds, but the fact i escaped MUCH MORE while killer has become obnoxious in the last weeks speaks volumes for me. It's not the only reason, the others being SBMM and hit validation.

It was 100% needed. He feels much more fair to play as/against.

he was strong when played sweaty/ cheesy against random red rank solo squads, but the healing boons are a strong counter against him, having everyone injured was one of his main strengths and also requirements for success. I think this is a stronger "nerf" to him than his actual nerf.

So the killer is D tier but with the best addons and 2 perks you 4k against surv with 1000hours. And you want buffs so you always win with these addons and 2 perks and you also win with other stuff. Yes, survs are overpowered and this forum is not a killer forum

I'm not sure if it was the loadout or everything just felt in place, i just used this stuff for one game. If people would cosistently use iri and purple add ons on their killers (combined with best possible perk loadout), tier lists would look different.

I lost ~75% of my games. Before MMR i was winning more than i was losing. Not saying this was fair, if you read my comments i'm actually criticizing "killer mains" a lot.

Either you're playing against the best survivors in the world on a consistent basis or you're exaggerating. I play every killer and do well with most of them usually. Sometimes I run into the really good survivor teams. Lots of hyperbole on this forum. It's no wonder the devs ignore most people on this forum.

maybe high mmr i dont know

  • @pseudechis said:

Its not world ending but the "balanced around 50/50 2k-2E" kinda flies in the face of the theme.

I want a survival horror where escaping is thrilling and hard/rewarding, with monsters that are threatening, oppressively so. That way you get the real horror experience that the game's theme is trying to create.

How many horror/slasher films are there where there is 50% of the cast still alive at the end? There are some and it doesn't make them bad films, but not many. The original slasher genre coined the term "last girl" not "last pair of girls or group based on 50% of expected outcome." (yes its sexist but it was 70-80's).

To stay true to theme the game should balance around 3K-1E. Killers should be very threatening and survivors should feel threatened by the killer.

I think if the killer was a bot then players would probably accept this, but the killer is another player and people have fragile egos about loss to other people. So we want a sense of equity in game play to avoid people thinking its unfair. Problem is... ITS MEANT TO BE UNFAIR. That's the point of asymmetric play. 1 on 1 survivors should be screwed but all working together they have a chance.

So balancing 50/50, with a solo player in mind, means more evenly balanced 1v1 scenarios, meaning stronger teams, and weaker killers overall.

    So you get...

Solo survivors get a bit of a boost but are still subject to high randomness in player quality, but now have an expected 50/50 outcome so get even more pissed off when not escaping.

Low and mid tier and casual killers, generally get weaker so often resort to playstyles that survivors may find unfun in order to feel viable, or they quit, or change their mindset to 50/50 which feels weak and not in theme thus reducing motivation to play.

Survivor teams get stupidly strong and either revel in it, often as highly toxic griefers, or quit the moment it goes wrong because they are used to winning, or have boring games because killers fail to catch them so they just sit on gens all game often while one gets camped.

Only high tier/high skilled killers are threatening to anyone but poorly organised survivors who make mistakes.

None of these things seem good.

Killers over preforming isn't a terrible thing, it means that things are working as they should, the killer is threatening and the players are struggling to escape from a desperate situation. As a survivor I don't want 50/50 chance of escape I want 25/75 chance of escape as that feels on theme.

and you really think people would still play survivor if there is only a very small chance of winning while killer is basically a walk in the park and you don't even need to be very good to consistently win?

  • Hex: Pentimento looks scary but you can easily deny it via boon totems. You also need another Hex like Ruin or Devour, otherwise survivors don't even need to break any totem (they can still just bless the hex but this takes forever). If it becomes meta, survivors will soon adapt. It's probably very, very strong against solos but against swf with comms it's useless because you can just call out the position of the totems you cleansed and then re-cleanse the new hex totem and then its gone forever. But at least it's some time they don't spend at gens and rekindling a totem takes only 1 second.

The Scourged Hooks: Bird of Prey perk looks very strong for me. It's good slowdown and info/ tracking combined, also keep in mind people will use it together with Pop or Ruin.

Grim Embrace also looks decent and it encourages a healthy playstyle. It will also synergize with the other "hook 4 survivors" perks like Way Out.

The survivor perks on the other side? The new Boon Unbreakable will be strong with swf and that's it. Don't know about the new exhausted perk, it can give you the additional speed needed to get to that strong building/ loop after getting hit and there is no skill needed to use it properly. The other one with the skill checks seems to be a beginner perk and will never be used.

  • Because the whole K-Pop thing is huge right now and Trickster is popular, not in terms of usage rate but a lot of people simp for him as far as i noticed on twitter, reddit and so on. A lot of the playbase are weebs, at least here in Europe. The chapter is also pretty special and outstanding compared to the others, while the Twins chapter felt pretty boring from the start. The Twins are one of the most unpopular characters since they have been released, Elodie isn't but she's also getting much more new outfits.

I don't like K-Pop or Trickster but if i would have to design outfits, i would have much more fun doing it for him than for the Twins. I really wish they would give Yun-Jin some more "normal" clothes, not this super bright stuff with super intense colors all the time.

  • The hit validation is a great thing, not talkin about DH here because it is a double edged sword (i was exhausted on the ground so many times but on the other side i hate "DH for distance" as killer).

BHVR is not on anyones side, nearly all of the bigger updates during my time of play (nearly 2 years) were killer sided, like many of the map reworks or the map update were they changed some of the worst tiles. DS and toolboxes and co-op gen speed got nerfed. Moris and Keys got both nerfed. Undying was a big thing for killers but so are the boon totems for survivors (lets see how the next scorched hooks perks turn out, the one we got now is rather weak). Some killers got reworked, some buffed and some nerfed, so there is no clear taking sides.

  • i mained her 1 year ago and now i played her 2 times after the update. gotta say without stridor and survivors always knowing where you are she's a lot harder. but at least i can play now however i want (before i played "extra fair" so survivors don't complain)

Dead hard sucks, just bait it out and it's not a problem. If you lunge every hit, you're gonna get derped.

it sucks in a deadzone where it gives survivors maybe 2 more seconds to live, but it is OP in a loop/pallet dense environment. Just played Wraith this whole evening and the amount of "DH to pallet/window" i've seen was insane. It gives them an extra loop, then they make it to the window/pallet they otherwise wouldnt have reached and now the survivor holds all the cards again. I use it myself when playing survivor because it feels like otherwise chases are sometimes way too short for my team to have a chance of winning (i mean exhaustion perks in general are kinda necessary when playing against good killers) but i can fully understand why killers are pissed off by it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2588153#Comment_2588153

All m1 killers aside from Legion have a way to stop survivors from reaching their loop. Since my dead hard version doesnt dodge abilities anymore they cant reach their pallet or window without getting hit.

Thats not working in practice. There are many situations where i with Wraith, Ghostface, Myers or Pig wouldn't stop that survivor from DH'ing to the next pallet or window. Sure i can block it with Wraith but first you have to cloak and then reaching it faster which is often not possible in smaller maps with a lot of pallets where survivors just hold W to the next ressource.

  • what i dont really understand is why people want to have high mmr, like is it something worth achieving? Everyone with some hours should know what a pile of BS this game is in terms of balance and exploitable stuff. My killer games were a disaster lately and i consider myself not a bad killer, because i know how easy it is for a survivor team which is working together and can loop a bit (the thing you mainly get at higher mmr) to destroy a killer.

Its not like rank where you can show off, no one knows which mmr you have. I'd rather have a lower one and bring fun perks than playing against sweaty teams and have to bring Ruin/Pop every game or stuff like that

  • He is still a strong killer if you sink some hours into him, good Billys are an absolute threat for every team. And a lot underestimate him (see Otz latest killer tier list where he is C tier, imo he is still high B). The problem back then was, a lot of mediocre Billys got carried by his good add ons and generally he had just too much going for him (nearly instant map traversal without downsides combined with good insta down). His instadown attack is, as i said, very hard to master, harder than Onis for example and the add ons which made it easier are not there anymore.

  • @D3spair said:

I stand by Tru3Talent suggestion that the game should be balanced by number of Hooks instead of Kills.

His theory is highly flawed imo. Since we don't have a clear indicator what a win is, this discussion leads to nowhere. But let's pretend the goal is 4k's, i think winning the game as killer with only a few hooks is not a "bad" win, it's just clever. And it's part of the game, everyone should know this by now - going for everyone evenly will make you lose, going for the one who is on death hook is smart. I know it's mean if you play like this straight from the beginning and hard-tunnel, this is why i think they should implement something like basekit DS and BT, right now it's too easy for killers if they play scummy like this.

Seeing hooks as the ultimate indicator for skill is flawed because there are many killers who often snowball (Oni, Myers, GF, Hag) and end games quickly after a slow start (often one-hooking people), those would be punished even though they played their killer cleverly. What about someone dying by Pig's traps? I mean everyone can play this game how they want and i adore people who just want to have some fun and hook some survivors, but 2-hooking everyone doesn't mean you got robbed, it means either the survivors played this very well or you played this poorly (from my point of view).

  • Chill guys, you really think they just did this out of the blue without getting informations about a possible ban? They will implement this in a way they're not getting banned, trust me. Steam is by far their biggest platform.

  • i guess it's just to hard to implement something that incorporates all the nuances and small details which indicate "skill". I honestly don't know either how complex a code like this would look. How can a basic KI determine if you're a good Legion? Or a good Wraith? Or if you facecamp/basement camp with Bubba and kill everyone?

But as Otz already said, the outrage because "i run them for 5 gens and get downgraded while the others escape and get promoted" is exaggerated. This NEVER happens every game (people who say this are intentionally exaggerating, no one runs the killer for 5 gens every game), yes it can happen and that's annoying but if you're that good in general you will be fine in most of your matches, because a lot of killers will drop chases with you and go for weaker players.

I can tell you you're wrong. You are basing all your evidence around your survivor skill level, which in the way you talk isn't that good. The game should not be balanced around casual low level play. It should be balanced around what high skill players can and will do constantly in every game.

At a certain threshold of skill, survivors will be able to loop any killer, run any tile, and will know every killer inside and out, how to abuse their power, how to make the most out of any map they end up on. With that being said, if you have 4 survivors of that caliber, even if all solo, it gets to the point that no killer can compete effectively.

Just because you cannot deal with a certain killer in a 1v1, doesn't mean good players can't. Not to mention almost every single game at high MMR is almost fully SWF, which just unbalances the game even further.

My skill level is 2500 hours and i was rank 1 on both sides before the SBMM regularly. I don't need to be a tournament player to know how this game works, but i wasn't a "casual low level player" as i played this game every day for almost 2 years.

No, this kind of balancing would be the death of this game without a 100% working SBMM. The game isn't survivor sided on casual levels. High skill level survivors are about 5% of the pub match playerbase. I won 3,5 out of 5 games before the new matchmaking and statistics show that all killers won more games than they lose. I rarely encountered those mystical death squads all the boosted killer mains talk about on the forums. This kind of balancing would be hell for the mediocre survivor playerbase as tunneling/camping is already normal at this point and counterplay goes to zero when you play solo.

There is some truth to this, but those god survivors are VERY rare, you clearly need to learn how to drop chases and work on your macro management if this is a problem for you. Some games you just can't win because this game is highly RNG and snowball-based. A mistake at the start can be enough, combined with bad RNG. You can heavily win and lose against the same team in different matches just because of RNG. Besides that i know the struggle of playing against a good team and how helpless you can feel but as i said, those matches were not the majority for me but an exception.

No, certain killer powers are sometimes a lose/lose situation for the survivor. If you can't get a hit with PH, Deathslinger, Huntress, Nemesis etc., in certain situations, for example anything that invovles animations (pallet drops, pallet vaults, window vaults), it's 100% the killers fault. There is no counterplay in those situations except for maybe coin flipping and randomly try to 360 and hoping the killer makes mistakes, but against capable killers this shouldn't work. I mean it's alright for me as long as it's balanced out by a bad macro game for example (no map pressure, no stalling), but saying that there is counterplay in 100% of the 1v1 situations is not true. Or in other words: Just because you cannot deal with a certain survivor in a 1v1, doesn't mean good killer players can't.

As i said i will not talk about SBMM as i kinda left when it started and can't really argue about those matches. It was harder than before in the few matches i did but i expected this. I still won a lot though. If you don't want to sweat then just don't, if the SBMM works it should adjust your value after a few matches.

His addons that reduce the cooldown of his power was nerfed to be 1 second less but base cooldown was reduced from 30 seconds to 24 seconds.

it's still a buff tho, you don't need 2 recovery add ons as before. Buff could be a bit stronger but wouldn't call it a nerf

I'm walking away due to how survivor sided this game is. Did Spirit deserve a nerf? Absolutely, but not before survivors got nerfed. They also nerfed Deathslinger (a B-tier killer mind you) who didn't even deserve a nerf. Not to mention the Ghostface nerf, proving they don't know how to balance the game...

    Ghostface nerf???

  • @MeatBycicle said:

I stepped away after the spirit Nerf announcement in conjunction with SBMM. I don't even play Spirit but seeing patch after patch come out addressing survivor wants, while continuing to ignore killer needs for years is disheartening. They buff Iron Will to have no way to counter it, they nerf Stridor, they Nerf Spirit. They introduce SBMM which doesn't add any benefit to killers, only survivors. Then they continue to throw salt on the wound by nerfing Deathslinger randomly and adding Boon Totems.

Survivor mains will say the past two patches have a "ton of killer buffs". The only decent thing is trapper starting with 2 traps, hes still a bottom tier killer. The killers that had addon reworks still make them addon reliant and are overall weak killers. Killers are weak because of their base power and abilities, not because of their addons. You shouldn't be forced to use addons to make a killer viable.

Its very clear which side the Devs favor, and which side they want to appease more, because they get more money from one side than the other. So i'm done with the game until they get a new dev team that actually cares about the game, and actually plays their game at a high level.

Sorry but your conception is highly selective. I've been playing since end of 2019 and i can tell you that killer was lately (until the release of SBMM at least) the easy and fun role for me. I've seen the old maps, nearly all of the map changes were pro-killer. DS nerf? This one was huge for killers, it was kinda like basekit before and now killers can tunnel how they want as long as you don't tunnel off hook directly. It made solo q unplayable for me. Toolbox nerfs? Co-op gen speed nerf? Wraith buff (my main), introduction of Blight, Twins, hell even Trickster is very good if you play him right...

No one except Spirit used Stridor. I've never seen it on any other killer. They should have reworked it into something else instead of giving her a proxy nerf, that's true.

Deathslinger was highly unfun to go against at least for me but i agree that they should make him better in the 1v4, the same goes for Spirit. His 1v1 was bullshit though as it required no skill (except using a crosshair overlay or some FPS experience) from one side and pure luck from the other.

You are supposed to bring add ons, I've heard that multiple times from fog whisperers and i think even Devs, it's not comparable to surv items because once you get the perks on your killer, your bloodweb is full with add ons. I NEVER ran out of add ons on any killer since i started playing, NEVER. I even got the best ones of each killer i play at least 20 times, because i don't play them every time. You're not supposed to bring the best ones every time.

So now SBMM is a different topic which made me kinda leave the game, but still standing in the shadows and watching. But it has nothing to do with the whole killer/survivor thing.

  • Being "unfun" is a valid reason to get nerfed, as the main goal is to have fun in a game. The counterplay to his aim spams was non-existent and they already nerfed PH because of this, there is a reason everyone hates playing against Deathslinger. Let's see how he performs and when they killed him with the nerfs he can still get 115% speed or whatever. I know he's a chase killer and that's alright but there were just too many situations were he could oppress you without counterplay, making the guessing games very unbalanced

  • Gen speeds are fine, increasing the time would only hurt the players that have it the worst right now, solo q survivors. I barely have problems with gen speeds when playing killer, the problem is imo that survivors can waste too much of the killers time on some maps with BS loops, combine this with actually smart survivors who split up on gens and you will surely lose.

What bad/ mediocre killers don't understand, it's not about gen patroulling. It's about hooking survivors as fast as possible and apply pressure through that, make them leave their gen. Patroulling and kicking gens does nothing and if you can't win a chase, 10 more seconds on the gens will not make you win that round.

  • Let's just see which impact the changes will have. I don't mind the phasing sound and the add ons getting changed, but the dust? I mean it gives the survivors your exact position, looks kinda like it just turns things around.

Spirit's always been pretty BS. Honestly she was the only killer I think needed a direct nerf in terms of reworking. Nurse is skating on the edge of that but I don't mind when Nurse outplays me because it actually requires effort.

Most other killers could probably use buffs now that Spirit finally "GOT WHAT SHE ***ING DESERVED!"

The problem with Nurse is, once you get there survivors can't do much really. And this usual argument "you actually need some skill for her, good Nurse well done!" justifies this all the time in the community, because they had to learn her for hundred hours to regularly 4k. I'm tired of all the slugging Nurses, playing toxic and letting you bleed out on the floor as some kind of dominance expression and then getting complimented in after game chat "wow great nurse she's hard to play!"

Some people have low IQ and lose. Idk how someone can lose as spirit, got nearly 100 win streak but then had to stop and quit spirit because it became to easy and felt like a single player game against bots.

well i guess all the tournament Spirits who lose to tournament squads all have low IQ. Maybe you should have played in tournaments, you would have made a lot of money, because you're obviously the best dbd player out there.

Anyway, given the evidence this argument is just unlogical. You mained a killer for a 100 win streak only to hate her afterwards?

Go argue about stretched in csgo or apex community and watch how you get destroyed. Those are highly competitive games and stretched is even allowed in tournaments. What makes you think DbD should be the exception for not allowing stretched? Just because you don't like and think it's the reason you lose matches? You lose matches because 99% of other reasons before stretched comes even into the discussion

    :D

you know that stretched in Dbd is a little bit different? There are numerous videos about it on youtube. And it gives you clear advantage over the killer on some loops.

Yes, low skill. Well actually the only skill you need is 2 functioning ears... And the skill of buying decent headphones. GG EZ.

Bullshit. If this would be the case, every Spirit would get 4k EVERY match. And everyone would play her, there are enough people who just want ez wins. But i've beaten numerous Spirits. And i've got beaten numerous times. You're just bad, trust me. Some of her add ons were crazy but besides that she was fine because being out of your power makes you wasting so much time. She never was a problem, at least not on EU servers, because no one ever played her, especially since she was bugged. Blight and Nurse are bigger problems.

  • @FrostySeal said:

I don't know about you guys but all of my matches, both as survivor and killer, have been absolutely miserable. As Survivor I'm constantly going up against the same Killers (Not really any spirits, blights, or nurses surprisingly) using the same builds and using the same techniques, mainly just tunneling, camping, and slugging meaning I have to be forced to use extremely sweaty and unfun perk builds (DS, UB, BT, etc) or else have an extremely frustrating game. Doesn't help that MMR is constantly pairing me up with either selfish or clueless teammates that end up getting me or the whole team killed.

On the Killer side if I'm playing a Killer without any mobility then I'll have to be forced to just hold W for most of the match. If I play a Killer with a weak 1v1 then I'll get looped for a while, and if I play my main Blight then I'll have to deal with extremely strong teams which I don't have too much of a problem with EXCEPT for the fact that there are so many things he slides off of that they can singe handedly cost me a kill or a ton of time. Haven't even mentioned that before MMR I could play much more relaxed and not have to tunnel/camp/slug and use all meta perks but now with SBMM I have to use sweaty perks and sweaty playstyles leading to even less fun for both me and the survivors.

SBMM should not be a thing until the game is a much more balanced and less buggy state.

The problem is this mindset "people are doing this, so I have to do that". If you're playing Blight with ruin/undying/tinkerer and then you're even tunneling and slugging and camping, a working SBMM will not just suddenly match you with chill survivors. I understand where you're coming from but adapt to the situation will not make it better, trust me. It will make you get stuck in this hell with all the other sweaty players

In theory, it would be better to take the loss and hope for better matches after a while. Of course, provided that the SBMM works fine, we don't know that and have no real possibility to prove it.

Just faced a Spirit who knew where everyone was, no matter the circumstance.

By this I mean, she would down someone, go all the way across the map and find and down someone else, do it to a third person, and I'm just here trying to pick everyone up before their inevitable demise.

This is including my own position after hiding in a locker. Did not have Charge add-ons but was using Haunting with extreme frequency.

If hacking was taken control of, I would have less to complain about. Using Spirit to throw people off of it as well is sad.

Thing is, i'd much rather have a killer hacker than a survivor hacker. A killer hacker will you out the gate in 5 minutes (assuming no slug). A survivor hacker will prevent you from playing, and possibly soft-lock you out of finishing the match, to which i've had the displeasure of also experiencing (this specific survivor failed to soft-lock and fell to the ground and died).

This was a hacker. I once played with crossplay off and faced a Spirit who phased exactly to my position when i was hiding in corner of an L-T wall. I just thought "lucky guess". She proceeded to slug and down everyone in like 1 minute. I've never seen something like this before, i know what's possible with Spirit and what not because i mained her for a while. I didn't gave her any traces, it was the start of the match and i heard the phase sound so i just walked into a hiding place without leaving scratchmarks. She spammed "ez" in aftergame chat and had a private profile without picture... anyway onto the next game...

with crossplay off you sometimes play against the same people in a row (i once played against the same survivor 3 times in a row), so next match it exactly starts like this again, she was downing everyone super fast and slugging. I decided to walk into a corner of the map, hiding behind a wall and just crouch there and waiting, to see if she at least tries to hide her hacking. Well she phased exactly to my position again 15 seconds after downing someone...

The primary play that I’ve seen every wraith do with this addon is go into cloak to see what exactly the survivor is doing at a tile and immediately come out of cloak to get the speed boost and utilize the wall hacks they get to know exactly what the survivor is doing. If they miss then they just cloak and repeat. It’s not interactive at all since the window to react is close to none.

My idea allows the survivor to have a chance to react while not “nerfing” the aura reading to where majority of players won’t notice. I have other ideas but this just seemed like the most fair.

The aura reading is too much and can go, but please don't change his speed boost. It's the only add on that needs a change imo. The iri all seeing is fine.

Very easy kit that stomps uncoordinated solos like almost no other killer, but has virtually no power against a switched on team that knows how to exploit your weaknesses. He's forever going to be extremely oppressive against the lower end of survivors, and extremely worthless against the very high end of survivors. Giving him any more buffs or nerfs would be weird.

That's basically it. He can stomp mediocre players for sure if you know what you're doing but against good teams? SBMM has showed me how good some survivors play against Wraith. I barely could do anything, and that was on maps that favour killers like Shelter Woods. Be very aware, run to nearby loops immediately after detecting him, waste his time by exploiting his simple M1 nature. Heal up if he starts to hit&run. His speed boost only works on some loops and good survivors will play it save because they know their mates are doing gens.

I mean, of course this goes for every killer, but a good Blight, Nurse, Spirit, Billy, Huntress, Oni, Slinger, Twins? Anti-loop is still the best power in the game and he doesn't have it. Being fast and "invisible" doesn't spare you the annoying pallet fests.

Didn't they say they wanted games balanced around 2 kills and two escapes?

Which seems nuts to me because who wants a survival horror where 50% of the game is destined to escape by design. The play seems to represent this too...

When I play survivor I often don't even interact with the killer as they are hard tunneling two other survivors because if they don't we'll all get out, so you get 1-2K and 2-3 escapes aparently that's balance.

When playing killer I sweat like a beast to get close to a kill or two or I just have to meme around and accept that there is no threat to the other players at all from me.

Its almost as if matches are now designed that only 50% of players intereact for the game and you can choose to play it an dprobably die on hook or not to play it and just sit on gens till you walk out the door. Its an odd design and not much fun.

it doesn't mean 2 kills 2 escapes every game, but rather 1 game you win, 1 game you lose. An average of 2k can also mean five games 4k of the killer, then five games 0k of the killer. Dbd is designed in a way so that most matches are clear wins/ stompings from one side, the close ones with 2k/2e are actually pretty rare

  • I stopped playing more or less.

Mostly because a lot of my dbd friends stopped playing because of MMR and i'm currently not motivated to play killer (although this already slowly started 2 or 3 months ago) or solo.

I haven't de-installed yet, i hope they're maybe coming back or my motivation to play killer is coming back. Last time i tried killer i had a 15 minute lobby wait time.

But i'm also not mad if it just stops here, it was nearly 2 years of intense gaming and i had a good time.

It's just, you know, when you're not into it so much anymore and you're occupied with other problems already, it becomes harder to deal with all the BS this game and other players are throwing at you.

I'm still looking into the forums almost daily, just to keep up with the news and possible updates.

  • i think it's RNG honestly, i know those matches but i remember autohaven games as killer where the survivors had plenty of pallets to work with. In my last game as survivor on Azarovs, there was one pallet on one side of the main building half - 1 pallet for 2 gens.

  • i haven't played since the rank reset but if it's true there most be some kind of bug because many of my friends told me the same, they're only getting very new survivors as teammates who play like 10 hours rank 20's.

No win streak videos since sbmm went live. At least not as killer.

But as solo survivor he has had some win streaks. Makes you think, huh?

he's only playing against the good teams now because his MMR is probably rocket high, not the usual solo pub trash from old red ranks. He's not a good survivor, he has knowledge about the game of course but he's not a good looper, so he's not playing against good killers most of the time i guess.

If you want, i can spam you with hundreds of screenshots like those. So most killers i face are bad? Isn´t that weird, that a such high amount of killers are... bad? Wouldn´t it be more plausible that survivors simply are OP? That the devs buffed solo survivors to a information level that almost equals SWF while taking everything away thats even decent at slowing down survivors?

A single survivor needs 80 seconds (or less) to complete a fresh gen. Survivors usually spawn next to a gen, while the killer spawns the furthest away. Killer needs aprox 30-40 seconds to cross the map. Now the RNG you mentioned kicks in. If the survivors spawned together, a gen will be completed before the killer even sees the first survivor (which is the best scenario for the killer). If they spawn separated, than 4 gens are at 50% completion rate (unless the survivors are really bad and hide in the corner of the map).

Now the killer finds the first survivor. 2 hitting a survivor who just runs in a straight line takes aprox 45 seconds (some killers have a slower movement speed). That doesn´t include pallets, windows or running in circles. Which means 3 gens are completed before the killer was able to hook said downed survivor (and 1 gen is at 50%). There isn´t really much coordination required. If you see a survivor point at the hook and watch how he either goes for the rescue or goes for a gen. Thats about all the coordination survivors need.

Whats the killer going to get in that situation? 2 maybe 3 more hooks before the gates are powered?

Your experience seems to differ from most others though, saying that even solo survivors have the upper hand is imo not true. I played this game nearly every day for the past 2 years and everyone i know (and i met some people in this time, i have over 30 dbd-people in my steam friendlist) tries to play swf whenever possible because solo is just a nightmare. And no they're not babies, most of them have over 2k hours, like me. I also saw myself as a killer main for the most time and i never had problems in 3 of 4 matches, even at rank 1. I came to the conclusion that i'm just good as killer, well turns out after playing against really good swf's i'm not that good and i'm just boosted by your usual pub matches where killers dominate. Even with mmr i still win at least 50% of the time, possibly more (haven't played much killer since then though).

But survivor? The only time i feel we "dominate" (which kinda seems to be the thing that all killers dream about, right? being the dominant power guy which everyone is afraid of) is when i play with the best players/ loopers i know - then we escape like 60-70% of the time (before mmr). Since mmr things have changed as all we got was Nurses, Blight and Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer/Pop gamers with 3-4k hours. When i play with "normal" players in a 4man with voice comm where no one is sweating crazy (no maps, no meta perk setups), we don't stand a chance against killers who sweat.

Ehhh no. Solo Queue survivors at the highest ranks are probably the most balanced matches you can go against at the moment. And probably the only matches where killers who aren't Blight, Nurse, Spirit and Oni can actually stand a chance.

Being able to loop is the most important thing because that's where killers lose most of their time. A 4 man with voice comm achieves nothing if no one can loop and goes down after 15 seconds every time. A team of 4 strong solo loopers can beat most stronger players. Besides that, you rarely see those, at least i haven't (i play Wraith most of the time and did fine at rank 1).

  • the chat is one of the main reasons i get toxic in next games or in comment sections. Be glad it isn't there, i mean i get it communicating is fun and gives a sense of community but with this game it's better to see your opponents as lifeless bots and not real persons who do these actions.

  • @Poggy said:

And what's sad, everyone knew it going into this. BHVR should have listened. But they didn't. I'll be the first to say I am uninstalling the game for the last time today. BHVR is a shît show and have no fückîng clue how to listen to their community and are too arrogant to give a fück.

Every single game as killer has been an absolute sweat show and I'm done. This isn't fun. This isn't entertainment. I don't care to win every single game, but Jesus fücking Christ EVERY game for me now has to be a sweat fest and gens are done in 3 minutes? The efficiency of MMR teams is ridiculous.

You guys fücked up your game and you appeased one side over the other. FÜCK THIS GAME.

It's so fücking demoralizing to play every single game and either have to completely get spanked because of the insane efficiency of the high MMR survivors, and that's not why I got into gaming.

"appeased one side over the other"

Many people have no side, they play both roles as it should be. My survivor games have been far worse especially when playing with my friends since the update, while killer was sweaty but at least playable and more challenging than before. So it has nothing to do with appeasing to one side.

  • I think the only perk it really synergizes with is Surge, since you can't kick the gen and Ruin also doesn't regress while blocked. It's kinda harsh if you have your Pop but you can't kick the gen which is like 80%. It can have crucial value, for example when there are 2 gens left and one gets finished and the other one was also nearly finished, can be a game saver then, but i don't think it's stronger than any of the meta perks.

  • IF the system works correctly it should pair you with lower players after losing for a while. At least i hope it does work like that. Since we don't know the parameters it's hard to say what we can do to get lower ratings, but i guess losing hard should work (not just in terms of kills/ escapes but also in terms of general gameplay). I deliberately give people hatch every game because i don't want my rating to skyrocket. And it's also a nice gesture which makes the community a little bit more friendly.

Regardless of the skill level that differentiates an actual comp swf or a swf trying to be one that is what they were. This is a dumb argument that disregards the original post by trying to discredit my perspective. These swfs are what makes this game unbalanced and it needs to be addressed.

But you trashing solo teams ("relatively high win rate") is fair? Why is no one doing something about it? Don't excuse it with "well because i'm good i won there". Killers are used to win most of their games, i'm too! Maybe those swf teams were just better or they had good RNG. Swf's are overrated, i played in so many 4mans where no one could loop longer than 15 seconds. Comms is not everything. We all know that the game is survivor sided on highest level but this only goes for tournament levels, not your random red rank pub matches. I play in 4mans since months only because solo is unbearable. And guess what, we don't escape more than 50% of our games. It highly depends on RNG, map, first decisions in a match/ early game, willingness to sweat from everyone, killers will to play "fair" etc. And a killer proxy camping and hard tunneling? It's the same for me, there is no counterplay except a few perks you can play around, and don't tell me it's fun gameplay to smash gens while the killer facecamps your friend to death because he had a bad day or doesn't know how to win any other way.

  • @Axx said:

I finally played some killer games, they were on Wraith, who is my main. The games were pretty sweaty. Had to play to win for sure. Clicky clicky, map offering in a 4 man SWF on coms using, all meta perks, never ever play killer so they have ZERO empathy type players is what I faced. I'm pretty much done with DBD for a few months at least. I was already taking a break before SBMM went live, but I reinstalled the game to try the SBMM out. I'll come back when the devs can admit they have neglected above average skill level play's balance issues for too long and are now making changes to make the game more fair at that level. If they don't, then I guess I will just stick to watching DBD content on Twitch instead of playing.

You will get better matches after some matches. I also main Wraith and I played against fog whisperers and tournament players since sbmm got enabled. Killers were used to get 4k in 2/3 of the matches, these times are over. The new reality is sweating every game if you want to be top level. If you want to chill, the only solution is to play chill. You will get chill survivors after a while, then you beat them easily and the circle continues...

  • @Purgatorian said:

For some reason tonight's have not been sweaty at all. Last night I had to sweat so much I could have built a swimming pool lol.

Bhvr needs to make so swf are matched with the highest sbmm rating and not averaged out amongst them all.

No. I already had to stop playing with some friends because their MMR was probably so high we only got ruin/undying/pop nurses and blights. 2 of them quitted now because playing tournament dbd is not fun. People playing this game together is one of the reasons this game is still successful. Without that I wouldn't be playing anymore, killer becomes kinda boring after 2 or 3 matches and solo is too frustrating.

Taking the medium of all players is perfectly fine. If you chase the best looper for 5 minutes it's your own fault. Having a very weak player on your team is more influental (dies fast and does not much, 3v1 is ez for killer) than having one very good player on your team, who maybe doesn't even get chased until the end.

  • Yesterday i got matched against a streamer twice in a row, he played Nurse and tunneled all of us while playing with Ruin/Undying/Pop and map offerings. Then he hold a long speech on his stream about how "you have to play like this because toxic survivor swf's, otherwise you don't stand a chance!" (fun fact: we made like 1-2 gens each game).

Then i played against a Trickster who facecamped with his power and slugged all of us, i DC'ed and told myself to take a break.

Nevermind i decided to play killer this evening, first match there was a DC 5 seconds after start (we all just played chill after that), second game was against a fog whisperer with over 6k hours and third game was against a team with a comp player from UK, they played super safe and made it impossible to build pressure because they ran to shack every time they heard or saw me. I'm kinda done already with this MMR shizzle....

Besides the stealth and main building dead dawg is pretty close to that

i still find this map fun and escapable as survivor though, i don't know. But yeah, when playing killer this map always feels like i have the upper hand and really have to mess up things to lose.

  • i personally do better with Wraith than with Spirit, but i'm often overthinking when playing Spirit and then losing the 50/50 especially if they have Iron Will. I haven't played her since weeks because she is bugged here and then (sounds are bugged to be exact), and i also don't see the moving grass very well from a distance with my low graphics. She is better for sure, Wraith gets easily punished by good survivors if you don't play hardcore-hit&run with good add ons and perks. But she is no pay2win as other people say, you need some practice and experience. I just like Wraith more right now, he feels strong after the buff, but not too strong and you still have to earn your win against good players.

  • i think most of the new killers they released in the last 2 years were alright on release day (except for Trickster maybe). There were weaker ones in the older roster. But i also think that most killers are fine right now as long as you're not playing in the top 5% tournament level (There are only few top 5% players in the pub matches so only because you're rank 1 doesn't mean you're top 5%. Those people rarely play pub matches.)

People need some time to get all the timings and tactics and stuff, Blight is a good example for that. He is considered the best killer after Nurse right now (thanks to Spirits bugs). I remember back then a lot of people said he is B tier at best and not fun to play.

Yes, it does defeat the point. If you were expecting a polished product from BHVR, then you're playing the wrong game lol. SBMM is gonna suck for a while and i don't think we'll ever get "easier matches" for killers we don't play often. Its already very clear from the previous tests they've done. Everyone just has to prepare to get bodied 10 times on every single killer before they can play the game.

It's better though. Without that system i would get obliterated like 50 times until i'm good enough for rank 1 at Nurse (for example). Better 10 matches and adjust than never adjusting.

There is also not an easy solution for this kind of situation. One of the main reasons they invented this system was low rank players getting much higher skill opponents. A rank 1 killer with 2,5k hours shouldn't play against rank 20 survivors only because he plays a killer for the first time. There are always 2 sides, and it wouldn't be fun for the newbies to get destroyed only because the killer doesn't know how to use the M2 attack on Demo yet (for example). If you have so much experience, you will win every match against rank 20s just because of your general game knowledge and M1 gameplay knowledge.

  • Why are you so sure it's about the stupid meme? Things like this are actually good for selling stuff sometimes. Maybe it's just a license issue. If they had the license for the voice i'm pretty sure the owners can't stop it because of this meme. Maybe because it's not the original "we came" line but they also deleted any other voice so it's 100% not because of the meme.

  • Wraith is not an "easy killer with little counterplay" against high skill survivors. There is more to him than people want to admit.

  • The new maps lack character in my opinion. There is a reason some people still love old graphics or lo-fi music or old movies. The old maps may look worse if realism is your ultimate goal, but character and atmosphere is more important for me. Of course nostalgia plays a part in why some things have more character...

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

You know a killer can still be garbage and still win in the end right?

Yes I am in agreement that NoEd makes these killers look good in the end but you should know by now how it works by now.

Usually your first clue they will have No Ed is how bad they are doing and how poorly they patrol gens.

Personally it's not a win for me if i play this bad and get 2-3 kills in end game because of facecamping (i rarely use NOED). As someone else already said, it's sad that the focus on "winning" developed this attitude with some people ("better be bad and get kills then playing good and get no kills"). If its fun for them to use NOED, for example in endgame builds, then it's alright. The perk is in the game to use it.

But this mindset "i need to win no matter what" while your getting clapped during the matches, only to use NOED later for some kills (and blackpip) will hinder your progress as a player. You will forever stay that baby killer that survivors laugh at and try to bully.
