Aaaah these devs are giving me a headache. Literally everyone was finally accepting how new Billy is now (besides majority didn't want a cooldown in the first place) but now bhvr goes out of their way AGAIN to nerf him. What's the goal of bhvr?

They're refusing to listen so they can show that their overheat mechanic was the right thing to do. But everyone agrees it's not.

Yeah, it's ego at this point. Rather than admit the mechanic was failed and unnecessary, they're going to force it. It's the same reason Nurse still has a cooldown despite it being despised by every Nurse player.

They introduced a limit to his power which doesn't really limit him. It's like it's non existent. The Devs spent time and money on this and they want it noticed.

    I couldn't agree more

I assume its so people can't facecamp with the chainsaw.

Yeah from the way its functioned that was also what I thought, but the rumours show the intentions were different.

  • @Blueberry said:

Well the overheat is so forgiving that you never actually overheat..so why even have the mechanic exist in the first place? I think that's the issue.

Yes the mechanic should not exist because it wasn't even his issue, the issue was his addons and these were fixed.

If you put a terrible change and it doesn't work at all, don't try and make it work, just take it out.

  • The way I see it

Sprint Burst will help you gain distance, and get to a loop, extending the time the killer gets to you before beginning a chase

Dead hard will help you extend a chase

But unlike you have to hold your sprint burst, the killer can bait out your sprint burst and then just leave you alone, and you cant activate sprint burst whenever you please.

  • First time I bounce billied off a rock out of the map, then killed all survivors in their ESCAPED screen

1920 x 1600 is a LARGER resolution than 1920 x 1080, ya dingus. How did you convince yourself it was smaller?

    1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels

    1920 x 1600 = 3,072,000 pixels.

    its 1600 x 1080 not 1920 x 1600.....

I disagree on the Legion skill level. I think he's got some hidden skill ceiling.

I also don't think he needs a full rework. He can be fixed quite easily with some small tweaks.

Correct. Too many survivors throw caution to the wind, take unnecessary risks because “no big deal I’m awesome at looping”, then get frustrated if they go down quick because that’s what's SUPPOSED to happen.

I'm not stupid enough to throw myself out in hawkins or any map in general since you wanna be wasting the killer's time finding you, and when he does is when you start the chase.

But this map literally lacks safe pallets, and it's not me speaking out of my as‎‎s here, the stats back it up

    image.png

The map needs changes, I'd rather have 10 safe & 10 unsafe pallets than 30 unsafe ones

There is something you can do: don’t get found. You’re not meant to win most chases against a killer.

What in god's name are you on

This argument works with litterally anything

Spirit with busted addons has no counterplay: DONT GET FOUND

Iri head huntress is broken: DONT GET FOUND

Hag with iri mint rag basement camping: JUST DONT GET FOUND

  • @Veen said:

Or maybe get the stun and don't make obvious pallet throws.

Countless times you fake running forward then run back and drop the hit still renders not to mention how AMAZING asian servers are, it's not worth taking the risk and a lot of times when you get the stun you're surprised.

    1. I personally think their should be a lower Cooldown probably 30 seconds.
    2. Don’t just make it just Basic Attacks and allow getting downed by anything like how infectious fright works.
    3. Increase Regression to 10%.
    4. I’d also like it if you can apply this regression on already regressing generators.

Btw I know this may seem overpowered but we need gen stop perks to rival Ruin and Pop. Tell me your thoughts.

Ruin isn't even competition in the state it's in, but yeah Pop needs rivalry.

The funny thing is the CURRENT surge doesn't even synergise with pop, it just shows how afraid some members of the balance team are of making decent perks.

  • The cooldown is a bit of a minor inconvenience tbh but not the biggest issue with it, at T3 its 40s which is pretty much always enough for you to hook someone and down someone else.

But this also opens up a question, why is there a cooldown in the first place?

  • If you've been here a while you'll notice bait posters eventually get banned, I really don't wanna call out names but they ARE doing something about it.

Otherwise there isn't much that can be done, this is overexaggerated if you ask me and it's not like a bait thread will cause that big of a deal, people will easily notice it and move on.

  • @Golden_spider said:

    Remove Basic Attack Requirement.

    Pick Two of the following:

    A) 32 Meter Range -> Closest [N] Generators with progress on them.

    B) 8% Regression -> 10% Regression

    C) 60/50/40 Second Cooldown -> 30 Second Cooldown

I love your A point, really removes the super situational part that comes with it.

If I had to pick I'd say A and C.

    New surge would be like:

Upon putting a survivor into the dying state, the closest 1/2/3 generator(s) regress by 8% and continue regressing.

  • @Sadsnacks said:

I'd like to see the 8% increase with each tier of surge, maybe 8, 12, and 16 % or even 8, 10, 12% would make it way better.

Yeah It used to be 12% in the PTB, not sure what the incentive was behind the change

  • @TAG said:

    I approve.

    glad you like it

  • I've been pretty much playing only clown for the past week 5-7 days and otz's suggested build had perks that had their value come out everytime.

    The build:

    • Discordance

    • Pop goes the weasel

    • Surge

    • Save the best for the last

Save the best for the last is a MUST on clown, it helps him become super aggressive and gives him the lethality he needs.

You down someone, surge affects nearby gens, and then you go pop the slightly further gens, or even the same gens if someone came over and tapped them.

Discordance is WONDERFUL early game, and throughout the game if survivors feel like they need to get a gen done SUPER QUICK this will notify you, and you SHOULD almost always drop a chase for a discordance notification nearby.

  • As @DudeDelicious said before, surge is the only perk in the game that has 5 requirements

    1- Down a survivor

    2- Basic Attack

    3- Gens within 32m

4- That are not damaged or surged

5- Oh, and within the cooldown

5 Requirements, and under what reward. AN ASTONISHING 8% GEN REGRESSION AND DAMAGE.

So yes, they are afraid of making half decent perks, and whenever you ask them why they come up with something like

"After testing our analytics and in-game results it shows that surge would be overperforming with killers that don't use basic attack downs, and repeatdely activating the perk made us decide it needs a cooldown and it cant work on the same generator, also after seeing how OP damaging gens is, we decided to make it only affect gens within 32m (base TR)"

It's ridiculous because a perk like surge will never "Overperform" because of it's little reward, 8% regression and gen damage. Oh well

What do all those killers have in common? A second ability or a different way to use it outside of chase.

Hag: too much to say, radar, tracking etc.

    Oni: mobility (in his power).

    Freddy: generator teleport.

    Doctor: tracking.

Clown has no secondary ability to allow him to pressure the map, just a strong chase ability that is easily countered by pre dropping pallets.

Exactly, he's simply lacking it. Hopefully they come out with something for him sooner or later.

  • @RakimSockem said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1520554#Comment_1520554

I can keep Hag, Oni, Doctor, and Freddy in a chase much longer than a Clown.

When Hag places traps on a loop, you just use that time to run to the next loop or pallet

Oni is only an except when he has his power active. Otherwise, he's a regular m1 killer in a chase and is not better than clown.

Freddy's blood pools are a joke and I'm much for afraid of fake pallet Freddy than the blood pool one.

Doctor.... it really depends on where you're trying to loop him and how well you can time your vaults or pallet drops around his shocks.

But none of them have the literally ability to slow your character down and blurry your vision and stop you from even making it to the next loop

A hag who knows what he's doing (which i don't blame you, but you probably never pass by) already has his web set up before getting into a chase with you. They won't follow you into a loop then place that trap, they'll have that trap and many others around it set up.

As for oni, duh he gotta have his power. But it's not achieving the impossible with the current no heal meta, not to mention that oni has an instadown on the other hand.

If you consider freddy's snare a joke then again, you haven't gone against a good freddy, he probably places them right in front of pallets rather than having a bit of distance to make the snare help him achieve that distance preventing the pallet drop.

  • @RakimSockem said:

Doesn't need a buff. He's already annoying and strong at ending chases faster than most killers

    Annoying ≠ Strong.

And no in fact he isn't strong at ending chases than most killers.

Spirit, Hag, Pyramid Head, Huntress, Nurse, Oni, Deathslinger all end chases faster than him.

Doc and Freddy end chases at his same level, doc probably even faster.

I just watched the most recent Clown match and, without commenting on anything else, didn't really see anything I'd consider "secret" tech.

    Yeah same.

Cheers for the early reply 2nd.

After watching @DudeDelicious's clown videos, it appears that he's playing the game at a mediocre level for the most part, and from watching all the videos here's the ranks he went against and count. I observed all 13 matches of clown he had uploaded, here were the ranks

    Yellow Ranks - 16 players

    Green Ranks - 16 players

    Purple Ranks - 12 Players

    Red Ranks - 8 Players

    Exact match ranks version below

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

    G = Green ranked

    Y = Yellow Ranked

    P = Purple Ranked

    R = Red ranked

    GGGY

    YYYY

    GGPP

    YYGP

    YYYY

    YGGG

    GGGP

    RYPP

    RRPY

    GPPY

    GGGY

    RRRR

    PPPR

And when he went against 4 red ranks for the only video, it was on hawkins with a 3k, and hawkins is heaven for any killer that isnt nurse.

As for the techniques used in the videos there wasnt anything special, just bottle one side push other side etc..

My point is, for me and many other killers who goes against red ranks every single match, he's simply not viable. There's a reason the community and content creators who have dumped hours into this game think he's the weakest killer of all, he's lacking.

I think that Clown is a good Killer in the right hands, I don't think he needs a complete rework, just a slight addon pass and shorten his reload, it's painfully long.

Also he could get rewarded more for hitting Survivors with his bottles. (Not just increased blurred vision)

His add-ons are actually all well designed, I fail to find one that doesn't benefit him / or that is ridiculously done.

It's him at base, he isn't good enough in the red ranks.

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

Survivors should suffer from the OP haemorrhage status effect when hit by the bottle, and that would fix him.

  • Yeah that's why it exists as an in-game option put by the devs, toxic low graphics users smh

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1520277#Comment_1520277

As a seasoned Clown main myself I can confirm they’re 100% right.

When I’m survivor against Clown, or watch streamers playing Clown, many of them do not play him correctly at all. The perception that Clown is weak stems from many players not understanding what you’re supposed to do with the bottles.

Dowsey and otzdarva have done several videos demonstrating his proper use, and it really isn't rocket science because clown doesn't have a huge skill ceiling.

Most importantly learn that the bottle is an arc and not a straight line throw

Throw/Gas bottle techniques (the ones i remember):

    • Throw a bottle at one side of the loop, push the survivor into it from the other side.

    • Throw a bottle at a vertically high position attempting to cover an important position of a loop, such as the connection between a pallet and a window at a jungle gym. Or just throw 2 of them really

    • Bring brutal (optional but recommended), force a pallet drop, zone survivor, throw bottle to slow down, break pallet and you almost have a free hit.

    • Bottle in direction survivor sprinting, hit with save the best for last, slowdown to them plus your faster recovery = quick down.

And yet if you observe any tier lists that exist even after his minor buff, he would still be the WORST out of all killers.

I really don't want to see the "oooo because streamer X said clown bad = clown bad? no i play clown and im good = clown good"

But these many streamers have hours and hours sunk into this game, and if you look at the character generally he has 0 mobility, he has to reload his ability in which he's slowed down IMMENSELY, his ability compared to other chase shutters takes way too long to do its job, and obviously he has no secondary ability.

He's in desperate need of help.

  • @Pawcelot said:

They said in a recent Q&A that Clown was doing fine and people just didn't know how to play him correctly.

    LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @Todgeweiht said:

How is clown medium? He is really hard to master, unless you are pretty good with him and know how to use your bottles properly in most tiles, you are going to suffer.

Yeah he's probably in hard/difficult tier, I put him there cause I already mastered his arc and optimal bottle landing verticality, but now that I think about it it wasn't that easy to learn in the first place.

  • @Blendette_will_Evade said:

Elaborate on that, like how hard is it to play AGAINST them or how hard it is to PLAY them.

How hard it is to play them

  • @Reaver_Raziel said:

I think there is still valid points to me made even if you are a killer/survivor main. However, if they make those comments they should be able to defend their point and be willing to see why they might be wrong when counterarguments come up.

DS, imo isn't fine. Its not an anti-tunnel perk as many say, at least it doesnt work only as one. It mostly works as an anti-momentum perk which can easily lose you games from a single stun. Some have said you personally dont need to have it on for a killer to choose between eating a ds and leaving you on the ground, as long as someone else has it. But I would say its worse than that. Most of the time you dont need it at all as long as someone is an obsession. Its a terribly designed perk that ruins a lot of come-back potential slower killers have.

NOED is..technically fine. For 4man SWF its absolutely fine and not a problem, for solo players or swf with less than 4, its sometimes a problem. Players need someway of being able to know how many totems are left, I like running detectives hunch but even with that sometimes a totem eludes me, either because of it being on the other side of the map or because of a scary to play against killer like nurse or spirit.

And there are many other things a specific side can showcase why they think its a problem. Situations should also be taken into account. Like I said sometimes something thats ok/balanced against 4man SWF can be horribly imbalanced against 4 solos. Or something might be really good against the strongest killers, like DS can destroy the ability of good killers to win games, but it absolutely shuts down the come-back potential of slow or bad killers. Especially if paired with unbreakable.

My point is this. Dont ignore something just because that player doesnt know any better. View it from his side, but take into account his specific situation, and then explain why he might be wrong or at least doesnt have to full picture. Or agree with him if its something both sides agree on (for the most part) like keys and moris being game changing, in the worst way possible.

Some suggested a lit candle in the basement for each totem left on the map, I'm really into the idea and it would probably fix the solo queue issues that come with NOED.

But again, this isn't a NOED problem, it's a solo queue problem. In my opinion and many others Solo queue should be buffed to SWF level so the devs can start working on balance with minor consequences.

Solo queue should just something like a quick-chat button with pre-input messages, or maybe just base-kit kindred, I think it'd allow for much more organization which solo players desperately need.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

As someone who mained killer to red ranks and now just play mostly survivor (only solo never tried or want to do swf).

Survivor is baby mode, it is ridiculous how nonthreatening the killer actually is. Survivors needs nerfs everywhere across the board once you are able to comprehend what 2+2= is.

It's not necessarily an issue of which side is stronger, it's just how killer is more difficult since you're responsible for 4 different people of different skill levels.

The core balance of this game is behind the idea of 2 kills 2 escapees. so if both sides play really well this should happen. But playing "really well" as survivor isn't the same as playing "really well" as killer in terms of how good the player is.

I'm not saying buff this side buff that side, but they should be equally difficult I suppose.

  • @Blueberry said:

The vast majority of his addons are completely garbage. His best addon is even a grey. He does need a huge addon pass.

While I like your buffs, they still seem way too weak. They need much higher numbers and just generally how his portals work need improvements to make these addons more worth.

I think perhaps the status effect add-ons could activate on shred rather than on portal cleansing? Because that's when exhaustion add-ons actually shine

  • @Dsalter said:

Myers and Demo are in my opinion the most "balanced" killers, they have to work for their kills but they have a strong kit only utilized properly by someone with a good sense of judgement and in Myers case a strong set of options to change how he is played via addons.

if anything Demo needs a slight buff making rats liver+tail baseline and 2 pre-placed portals on opposite sides of the map (but one less placable portal from the default of 8)

Myers and Demo are in a pretty weak state, there's no way in hell they're perfect balance.

Myers is the only killer in the game who's power at 1 point in the game can completely run out, he's a worse Oni/Ghostface and the only thing he's given to help in a chase is a 25% vault speed boost.

Demogorgon's Shred also won't function at many regular pallet loops and you can see this even when you watch the top ranked demo in the game currently (Msa_matei he's on twitch.) It works mostly at Shack, T-L walls, and will work at jungle gyms only if a survivor makes a mistake tho.

  • lmao this looks like it's been written by a twelve year old but here's what we know

for the millionth time It's not hitbox issues it's latency. Either your ping or the killer's ping.

Server-Side hit registration is being worked on and it should fix all your worries.

4.1.1 fixed plenty of things but latency has been an issue for 4 years now, it's not cause of this update.

  • Just take the benefit of the doubt and assume most of them just do it to make sure everyone comes out alive, if they see NOED they leave if they think they can pull off the rescue they go back and do it.

As for people on comms who know they can all escape but stay at the gate it's usually just to taunt the killer, shoo them out or just stand in a corner and contemplate why you chose to play killer in red ranks

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Seems like a pointless effort to me. We already have tierlists for community opinion, and this system doesn't look even close to standardized enough for objective balance consideration. Scott missed the ball with this one.

    This^

I mean his "numbers" show that Ghostface is worse than Demogorgon, Plague, Doc, Slinger, And even the Pig.

But we all know ghostface is in a far better position than that. He also ranked his downing potential the same as Hillbilly for some reason.

He also states "His addons are not really impactful", but if you put both his shroud recovery addons you'll get your shroud back in 14s rather than 30, and if you play him with these addons you'll notice a HUGE difference.

  • I'm going to state that in my opinion Adrenaline is a bad perk. If you're using Adrenaline, you're basically using three perks for the entire game.

  • lmao this update messed up a lot, I shlt you not I was being chased by a tposing spirit for 3 minutes before she got stunned and back to normal state.
