The killer vs survivor power debate is easy to conclude.
How many killers are viable @ a tournament level?
There’s your answer. Simples.
Viability at tournament level does not equal used at tournament level. Technically all killers are viable at a tournament level it just so happens that some killers are stronger then others.

Not really much credibility because no one who brings it up goes into detail as to why it's balanced same with otz's challenge.
That's why to me I have to also account what the devs are doing and what is getting implemented.
I think if anything it proves that if 2 similarly skilled groups (in game knowledge and mechanics) go against each other with their best load outs and they play to win then (not accounting for terrible RNG) the out come would be neutral.
As for otz"s challenge. I would say it shows that yes for the most part a killer playing a certain playstyle will get a neutral outcome or better without perks. But it doesn't account for going against a team of equally skilled opponents or like minded playstyles (ie letting a person die for a 3 out).

The game is blatantly survivor sided; HOWEVER, Otz and company proved that realistically that doesn't matter when survivors on average are as bad as they are. They are overly altruistic, get triggered as easily as they think click and bags bother killers, and sometimes decide not to run the perks that make the above statement an objective truth.
That is why the conversation is so gray and people water it down to whoever is playing the most "sweaty" wins as that is usually the outcome in most instances realistically speaking. In a practical setting, it is anyone's game. If both sides come to bang, survivors are going to win. But they rarely ever do which is why I can understand some solo players feeling the exact opposite as... Let's be real, more killers are playing seriously and to win as that style is more accessible. A lot of the "tough" competition are just swf trying to have fun as opposed to a swf wanting to reach top mmr.
But that's just a theory.
Wasn't there a tournament that showed that if both sides brought the most tryhard builds they could the game was somewhat balanced tho?
(Don't know the credibility on that just something I've seen thrown around before)
-
damn you right. all perks are going to base kit other then DS. Wow amazing killer buff.
-
Yeap by that standpoint they should cater to survivor more. Got to hit that 50% avg kill rate.
-
K. maybe see how it effects the game before your complain sheesh
-
honestly IMHO almost eveyone is Top (soft cap) MMR considering how easy it is to get to that level. so what you are going against would and how you are doing is what it is like at top MMR.

I've been playing a lot of Nemesis and basically every time I could have killed a survivor who gets out anyway it's due to a body block. Every single time. He can't do literally anything in a chase when there are 2 survivors because you have to hit them 3 times. If even 1 survivor gets in the way the chase will be extended so much that a gen will pop. It's literally his biggest weakness and I don't understand how to stop it from happening, you can't hit over survivors with your tentacles.
I mean what you just described relates to every m1 killer it's not just a Nemesis thing. The only way to stop this from happening is to injure the other survivors as well. If it's end game and everyone is body blocking to get the injured guy out then chances are you can't do anything.

Alrighty, folks. I've never really properly tried to grind the Rift (the closest was to get 2/3) pieces of the Pink Elephant costum). Anyone got any tips on how to grind it as efficiently as possible to get whatever cosmetics are up for grabs?
It's now easier to reach lvl 70 in the rift through normal play. If you are able to complete all the challenges in the rift you are more then likely to hit lvl 70 before you complete them all. If you don't have any challenges to do and want to grind the rift as fast as possible then you should play killer. You gain progress based on how long you spend in game (up to a certain amount) so playing killer gives you the most time per game.

All those Mini Nerfs were filler changes so that they can say they did something.
This midchapter is pathetic and bad for being a "huge" balance update. The last one was really good, but this one proved their lazyness again.
Idk. It sounds like tinto put a lot of time into nurse. I'm not a codrecodguy but I imagine recoding an entire kiler would take some time.
-
Nope. Hasn't changed a thing. The gameplay is still the same as it was before sbmm was introduced. Haven't seen a change in anyone's playstyles on either side.

smallest amount of toxicity
If you think dbd has only smallest amount of toxicity, then you play only KYF.
Noone cares about "gg ez" and that is actually really rare to see in dbd, almost noone says that. Probably because it's too short for them, not enough impact.
It extends further then gg ez obviously. For the most part it is I hate how you played or you played like trash.
I never said dbd has the smallest amount of toxicity. I simply stated that if you can't handle the smallest amount of it then you should play a single player game.
-
Welcome to online pvp where your feelings don't matter.
This isn't just dbd. This is every online pvp. And like Mandy said smack talk is allowed to an extent. You make something like that bannable just for saying "gg ez" then all of a sudden everyone is banned.
If you can't handle the smallest amount of toxicity then go back to single player games.
-
Idk if I would say meta. But I've seen so many killers run it for some reason. That's not to say it doesn't have its uses. It helps with some perks like hook: pain resonance as the survivor no longer has the option to wait until they see the red outline of the survivor being hooked to let go of the gen

"I want to make someone mad because maybe they will make a mistake and I'll win my video game round!"
You don't think deliberately setting out to try and make someone else be in a bad mood so you can win a video game isn't unsportsmanlike? If anyone's taking something too seriously, it's you people who insist that it's totally valid and necessary to win at all costs including doing the thing that you insist shouldn't bother anyone because it might bother someone and trick them into making mistakes.
How about I re phrase it then.
It is done to alter the killers priorities and have them focus solely on the one survivor. This is done to possibly cause the killer to throw the game to focus that one person down. It might fluster the killers thought process and they might end up making mistakes because of it. It is unfortunate that some gamers get mad at this kind of behavior even though it is a respectable tactic.

"There is nothing wrong with trying to make the other people playing the game mad if it gives you an advantage" is, at best, incredibly unsportsmanlike. But it's mostly just childish and the most pathetic excuse for being a jerk.
And most flashlight clicking or teabagging happens at the end of the game anyway. Please, enlighten us all how there can be a gameplay advantage to being annoying whilst standing at the exit.
I was mainly talking about during the match for gaining an advantage not at the end. If it's at the exit gates who cares. You are taking things way to seriously if you let something so little get to you.
I would not say doing it midgame is unsportsmanlike though. If I can lead the killer on for a long chase then yeah im going to do everything in my power to try and get in his head and make him want to chase me. It's not being childish. It's not being a jerk. It's simply strategy. If it makes the killer throw the game just for me then fine. If the killer refuses to take the chase then good on them. They made the survivor waste their own time. If the killer gets frustrated about it and nearly instantly downs the survivor after the flashlight clicking or t bagging, then enjoy the dopamine boost and enjoy the game.
-
Uhm. Soooo. Flashlight clicking and t bagging imo are used to get un the killers head. And if it mad you mad or frustrated you then it worked. There is nothing wrong with those situations.
Also just someone uses DH for distance doesn't mean they abuse the perk. I honestly can't think of a way you could abuse any perk unless the perk it's self is bugged (i.e. breakdown when the hooks never respawned after a patch).
You can change the way you play all you want. It's not going to stop people from making fun of you in end game chat. Welcome to the internet.
Also I'm pretty sure over half the player base have there own win conditions. Some of which might have already aligned with what bhvr detailed there mmr being based off of. So the way people played before and after that was announced probably barely changed.
-
Don't know what my mmr ( I have a pretty high escape rate roughly 70-80% each night, and my kill rate is probably close to 3k) is but I usually run off meta builds on both killer and survivor. I would say the sweat is there for some matches but for the most part if possible during the match, i can pull off the thing I wanted too for survivor.
-
I like the in game trash talk (most of it is not meant to be hurtful and is just in the moment type responses). It's also nice to get an ez ban from the toxic streamers chat :P
-
I'm pretty sure the cheaters can just stop the egc timer but know that they don't need to.
A better system would be something like allowing the killer to end the game early after the first gate has been opened or hatch has been closed. Of course there should be a timer to this but I don't know the best way to implement that with out it being able to be altered by a cheater. This would be similar to a dc but nothing is lost from either side by doing so
-
Someone will eventually make a site/program that will show you your mmr its just a matter of time.
-
IDK. If you can combine loops together wtihout droping the pallet it opens up a whole new set of mindgame potential.
-
The only reason I would say something like you dont need the 4k is when the killer slugs the third survivor to go and try to find the 4th. i say this in regards to the killer not having an idea where the 4th is. IMO this does nothing but waste eveyones time. more then likely they will not find the 4th and hatch no longer spawns until the 3rd is dead so you cant even say they are confirming the 4k by trying to find hatch before hand.
The whole deal about survivors going for the 4E being a double standard, I dont agree with. It promotes the best part about any pvp game, interaction between both sides. I find it boring to see 3 people leave when ever I hook someone after 5 gens. Same when I am playing survivor if someone gets hooked at the beginning of EGC and I see the other 2 run out in fear of BW. Especially if it was a quick match.
As for the survivors in your examples. well they are just dumb and think it is all about them. The same can be said for killers who call survivors sweaty for going for stuns and flashlights.
-
You most totally did stream snipe. I saw the game myself. How else would you have known they were behind that rock. Also you were pretty laggy. You didn't deserve those hits. /s
-
?
Sounds like you need to git gud.
But for real not everygame is a struggle for you (unless you actually do need to git gud).

A Killer can already tell if someone has BT because instead of running, they hump the Killer's leg like a hyper puppy.
So removing collision does not really change much; the Killer knows the unhooked is enjoying BT within 0.025 seconds by how they run AT him instead of away.
This is not true in all instances. There are several times where I've seen someone unhooked with bt just run away and not try to body block
-
That ping though
-
Nope. She is fun to play as and go against when you can. It's nice not playing the same old meta brain dead gameplay
-
@ElusivePukka said:
Just give BT recipients no killer collision for the 12 seconds. It'd make the thing more effective while neutering emergent use.
The only issue with this is now the killer can tell if someone has BT by trying to walk through them.
-
I didn't think it was possible to see a hit get validated like that on survivor side. But no the hit was validated on the server so you shouldn't have seen anything. Weird.
The person doesn't have to go down for noed to be revealed. The killer m1'd and hit someone thus revealing they had noed

I mean it's the same as having bad internet. If steam keeps going down throughout the day maybe don't play that day. You also have the option to play on a different platform. But like others have said steam going down doesn't happen often and if you don't dc regularly then it's no issue.
Moral of the story. Don't dc and if steam goes down then who cares.

@Brimp said:
I mean... hes trying to prove a point that has already been proven wrong before. The whole competitive scene has perk restrictions on survivors and on a good team they can def still 3 out vs a good killer. Now imagine comp if you were able to run 4 ds, unbreakables, dh, bt/deli/comraderie. Yeah, let's just say most of those good killers would be getting 2 kills at max.
With how this game is currently its 100% survivor sided with most maps having large gen spreads, insane gen speeds along with that, seemingly a pallet at every other filler (unless its shelter woods), toolboxes/medkits, good loops, etc. this game is most definitely survivor sided.
Yeah but you failed to mention that there are also killer add on restrictions as well.
The comp scene shouldn't be used as a major source of evidence for the killer vs survivor sided argument. Comp is played much differently then your normal play. They have a clearly defined objective/point/win system that standard play doesn't have.

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has this and needs to be reported. I think it was already last midchapter patch, that there was an issue with steam family sharing. I have a friend who now again has no access to all DLCs she should have by family share.
Does anyone else experience that?
I dont have this issue. But if the DLC was purchased in-game then it doesn't cross over

Why Friday 13th you had stamina bar and it worked. So why not for dbd it will actually make all killers more viable add genrush fixing it becomes more balanced.
Pretty sure Jason was slower or the same speed as survivors running tho

@Seraphor said:
Any gen-kicking perk. I think if the survivors want to instantly tap that gen and give me the ability to kick it again, then that should come with the cost of giving me my gen-kick perk back.
Pop being the obvious exception as it has an additional requirement.
Dragons grip kinda ip at that point tho

It'll take like, 30 matches to lower my MMR a considerable amount.
And even then, I'll be stomping people, which isn't fun either.
In short, your proposal is only masking the issue.
I mean it sounds like you want your build to stomp people at the top level.
Also your games should theoretically revolve around you doing decent a few, having a good few, and you getting beat. You wouldn't necessarily stomp everyone once you got low enough.
-
I mean you can technically play fun builds. All while lowering your overall mmr allowing your fun builds to actually be viable.
-
Just laugh it off. Maybe give some banter back.

Killers can't do bones, only snuff them. If the totem were destroyed in the process it would be fine, because a survivor who know a totem spawn couldn't boon it again and again and spend time looking for a new totem.
Killers don't have aura reading for totem aside his hexes, only a sound feedback.
Killers don't need a second objetive because the gens speeds fly.
I mean they kinda have totem reading. Undying does that.
