No. Lightborn is fine as it is, also its great if the killer is actually deaf irl or is hard of hearing like I was before getting that fixed.

there should be accessibility options for that not just a perk that counters a item tho.

  • @MarbleThrone said:

I don't think Lightborn needs any changes.

As soon as Survivors realize you have it, especially if they are on comms, they will no longer hover around for flashlight saves and stick to gens instead. And then you have 3 perks for the rest of the game.

Its moreso wanting to have your item be usable rather then the counter to it being a issue, do agree if killer has it just stick to gens.

I just dont like how it counters an entire item for the whole match by just equipping a perk. with no work around or anything on the survivor side to be able to use your item again.

Franklin was changed for semi similar reasons so survivors could still pick items back up rather them just running out of charge quickly.

I dont think its a big / major issue but think its time perk can be changed a bit.

There just needs to be an option to not display it, the same as the chat.

No that would ruin the whole system.

Unless you split lobbies in the back end into Comm wheel survivors and non comm wheel survivors then it would not be a issue.

I dont want team mates that refuse to even look at team mates doing callouts. this isn't like end game chat where people can write whatever they want.

  • @dangersmymidd1ename said:

Personally I am not too keen on this idea but I understand why it will be implemented. This or basekit Kindred is needed for solo queue.

I hope they add a toggle for it, though.

Toggle would make the system pointless and would possibly be worse then current system as people would get frustrated as ######### when they are doing a callout and just get ignored (Because someone else has it toggled off)

If you show who has it toggled on, it will just lead to rampant lobby dodging anyone whos not using it.

safegaurds do need to be in place tho so the system isnt annoying for players eg cooldowns so its not spammable, making UI size of callouts adjustable.

  • The game does have a semi functional MMR system.

a few things I noticed that makes lobbies feel worse

    1. If the lobby has been dodged, you can be filled into it with no regards to MMR because the person who was correctly put into that lobby decided to dodge.

    2. que times being longer can make the matches feel worse (I think it evens out when it gets to long because people dont lobby dodge)

    3. Certain times I noticed tend to be on average more balanced. My fave time of play is during weekdays. (at least in my region)

    4. MMR may have gone up so when you are searching for a match its more likely to pull from higher MMR pools.

in the end tho it can really just be luck of the draw but just a few situations ive noticed.

That's because it happens rarely. In the dc queue it would be constant. Like i said, they'd either play losing games, or games cut short the second the killer decides they can't win. Bet ppl would tire of that real quick.

Personally I don't care if they enjoy it or not. I just don't want to play alongside players who don't have the basic impulse control to stomach a losing game without throwing their toys out of the pram, throwing the game for everyone else.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4106413#Comment_4106413

This is kind of my point. It funnels all the inconsiderate DC prone players into a super unpleasant queue. And acts as an effective deterrent, if people don't DC then games get more bearable. (Not totally, obvs ppl will still throw themselves at hook or afk if they don't want to play)

My point is tho is that the que would not do that for the survivors. It would only do it for the killer role. (which im sure is not the role people are wanting to be punished when they want a dc lobby)

What is unpleasant for killer or survivor are different. a DC lobby where both sides are dcers would only be unpleasant for killers because Survivors will dc for more reasons outside of skill (eg, they dont like the killer, teammates are bad) Killers 90% of time will only dc if they are losing which is directly tied to there skill. (they cant get a down, first down 3 gens pop, all there downs are being saved/saboed)

This will lead to survivors (esspically more experienced survivors) who do DC more being rewarded with matches where the killer struggles.

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

The whole point is it should be a deterrent to people ragequitting. Plus I don't think it would be that fun for survivors, because when a killer ragequits, then the game instantly ends. So survs in these proposed DC heavy lobbies would either lose the game (and probably ragequit in the process), or the second they get the upper hand, game ends and they don't get to earn more BP or actually ever get out through hatch or gates because all the DC heavy killers will simply rage quit when it looks like they will lose.

Being stuck in these lobbies will simply ruin the game experience for everyone who is inconsiderate enough to ruin everyone else's game experience just because they can't handle a loss or a bad game. Personally i think this sounds pretty good if it means I can play without survivors DCing on first down and killers DCing the second I get a pallet save against them.

I genuinely think some survivors would enjoy the dc que more. sure the match ends. but a lot of survivors in a SWF get a good laugh on call making a killer dc.

Good killers are not dcing (outside genuine reasons like soft-lock bugs, bad ping lobby) so the dc que would be relegated to weaker killers ripe for being walked all match by a SWF that just dc against some of the stronger killer then they can be in a lobby that is more likely to have weaker killers.

Not to mention that if this was a system people would know about it and know not to dc to be able to leave the dc lobbies so making it even more fun for a swf because killer would have to not dc to leave those lobbies. (unless we keeping people in dc lobbies forever, which would not be new player friendly at all)

The intention is great, but honestly I have low expectations. A chat wheel isn’t going to prevent me from continually being matched with brand new players, my teammates getting downed 5 seconds after chase starts, teammates hiding/blessing totems/being generally useless all match, etc. Matchmaking and skill measurement are a far bigger problem than solo queue communication, yet BHVR continue to ignore this far bigger problem. I won’t get excited about anything in this game until BHVR address the real problem.

yet BHVR continue to ignore this far bigger problem.

BHVR as comfirmed a MMR rework is in the works so I dont really see why the negativity about a system people have been asking for since before the game even had SBMM.

Its not like its a random system BHVR is adding its something ALOT of players wanted.

I can't express how good this is going to be for players who primarily play survivor in solo or duo queues, even being able to communicate something as simple as 'I'm going for the save' is going to be a massive improvement, and we might even get the ability to communicate perks or items depending on how they do it. The fact its not an 'in the vague future' thing but actively scheduled and communicated is great, and I'm very happy that they were both working on this and allowed to reveal it and when we can expect it.

Then match DCing survivors against non-DCing high MMR killers with sweatlord buildouts who will stomp them into the dirt.

And match the DCing killers against non-DCing high MMR SWFs with sweatlord buildouts who will stomp them into the dirt.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SAFPID1OT5ZQ/laugh-burns.gif

All tho that does sound devilish, you would then punishing people who are not dcers with potentially more dc matches (the high rank killers and survivor players having to verse these dcers

  • this would inflate the wait time, while DCing survivors may enjoy the dc lobbies more because who is more likley to dc?

    main reasons:
Killers who are getting bullied / not getting hooks.
Surviours who are not enjoying the match either due to killer or how match is going.

I feel like this would lead to some people wanting to be in dc lobbies because weaker killers are more likely to dc.

  • ive had damn and Lmao personally.

Last ptb also had a harsh censor, idk why its so harsh. Had killer try to say "well damn" referring to how the match went for them and it censored whole thing. makes it look like people are angi in egc when they are not.

  • Its there to avoid excessive slugging.

4 man slug is not the only slug scenario even tho by far its most common.

    - 3 man slug as killer just follows around last person so they don't pick anyone up while holding game hostage.

even tho its a rarer slug scenario and not so much a winning start, its able to happen so just forcing the survivors to lay there on ground until either

1 - person does gens enough so killer will down them (this could be over 5 mins)

2 - stand afk waiting for the killer to down you (could be whole server time)

3 - try to pick people up only to have them go back down (this would be kind of helpful as you would be giving team mates abandon option after few pick ups and after they all abandon you can abandon)

Removing it adds too many problems while not really adding anything useful.

  • The only Issue I have seen mentioned about STB that I see as a legit issue is hook shuffling using multiple STB. (eg adam on 2 hooks meg takes 1 then you hook meg and she's at 2 then claud comes unhook then david comes unhook and everyone is on 1 hook) I have suggested not letting someone who has STB before to be STB but in return STB can be used for both your hook states.

Other then that perk is perfectly fine imo.

  • We should be able to see everyone's exact ping in the lobby (including our own) just like its shown in game.

  • I mean i feel like this with achievements with a lot of games.

You'll want to go do 100% then see achievements locked behind DLC

  • agree with being able to abandon at more then 200 ping.

I love gameplay of having to drop every pallet two business days early.

Then we need to make it affect SWF we need discord integration so when you get the status affect it deafens the VC your in

How would you expect BHVR to even program that.

I cant think of any other game that deafens your discord mic on demand due to a in game effects.

There are games that have in voice systems that can do similar (eg proximity chat) but none are integrated with discord where it can force deafen people.

Also could people not just use another program like teamspeak to totally avoid?

  • Third seal needs to be renamed to hex: solo stomper.

It isn't gonna do anything to a SWF but you breaking kneecaps of soloq. I do think it needs some changes so its not a perk that is only there to be soloq stomper.

  • I think some things should be able to be adjusted

voice lines Is one I see a toggle asked for but muting it could work too.

I would personally like to mute ghoul screaming.

Stuff such as chase music / footsteps I don't not think should be adjustable due to advantage others have mentioned it can bring.

  • there is a third party site that shows general que times

View the current queue times for all regions for both killer and survivor on Dead by Queue.

technically that's "just" a powercrept Deathslinger.

If Sprint Burst comes back unchanged Ghoul would likely not even be an issue(minus ghouls double tap potential, he's weaker than Legion in 2v8)

    Still would not work.

Deathslinger needs to drag the person they want to hit towards then which can be countered by bodyblocking and lodging yourself between rocks/ trees.

All ghoul needs to do is look in your direction and you are locked into place going to go into deep wound once hes done weebscreaming. you could legit go around double tapping everyone for free because Ken gets the easiest first hit in game.

They could remove the lock on auto scan hit make him a catch up mobility killer but they should do that in 1v4 so cant so really trust them to add it to 2v8.

  • Wesker dashes at you, he also needs to pull off his dash correctly. ghoul needs to look in your direction then gets a auto hit into deep wound.

  • Ghoul could not fundementially work in 2v8.

since its a lock on hit, you could go around the map insta downing everyone. ghoul locks on, does his scream animation, they go into deep wound and other killer just slaps the survivor.

I would not say more selfish, I am Oceania player. But I will say my team mates seem to be much smarter then I see some people describe there average solo q team mate.

Getting counterweight and not being able to use my power at all is different from no mither. Sadako with her meme addon literally removing condemned as a mechanic as well. We really need the addon exclusion back only for the very meme addons. Weak ones are fine. But literally designed detrimental addons are not fun.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TGUEV2JB1P3Z/1000015402.jpg

So just play the newer killers with addons that are always good in most cases. More ghouls and jasons anyone?

The issue with that one is too many ad ons are excluded, ad ons such as padded jaws and iri tape I do think should be disabled but most on the ad ons on that list don't need to be excluded.

Eg ghoul does not need 8 ad ons disabled.

  • @dangersmymidd1ename said:

Hope, Syringes, Styptics - these alone will have made an enormous dent in survivor performance. Fast Track - should have just been reverted. I just got it in Chaos Shuffle and it is a complete joke now. Cross Examination we can't even consider as we did not get a chance to try it properly.

There are also a number of shadow/undocumented nerfs that have not been addressed yet but do greatly affect gameplay. Examples include difficulty in throwing pallets, stolen/missing prompts, getting hit much more frequently through pallets, delay when fast exiting a locker.

Not to say that a couple of new survivor perks haven't been good, like Five Moves Ahead, and perks with Elusive status have made stealth more of an option again.

the undoucmented ones are the worst.

Locker one is so bad, especially if you get caught by one of cheese lockers near a vault its just a free grab for killer now rather then free hit.

They also did deja vu in recently, if you paid close attention you could see gen spikes moving on the deja vu aura, that has been gone since Jason came out

  • Ah yup Oceania showing what I already feel. Ghoul most picked.

Also Oceania survivors escape the most? 😈 54.5% highest escape rate higher then everyone else by like 10%

This is less of a problem than you think it is. If they wiped everything they'd ideally wipe the k-value as well which makes your MMR changes much faster.

So for example, lets say they wiped MMR and put everyone at 1200. Wild west happens. A 5 hour dwight gets matched with a 5k hour blight. They have 1 bad match, the blight's MMR goes up like 300 points, and the dwights goes down 300 points.

After like 5 matches, both players are relatively settled roughly where they should be so the matches aren't horrible, then after 20 or so games you are pretty stabilized within a few hundred points of your mmr.

However there are more intelligent ways to do it, like creating multiple starting zones based on your current MMR.

Maybe like you have say 4 buckets:

    • 600 mmr
    • 1000 mmr
    • 1400 mmr
    • 1800 mmr

You find everyones current mmr and drop them to the closest value to them and reset k-values to max so everyone can shift around quickly.

You'd avoid the horrible edge case scenarios you worry about while making the matches at least somewhat reasonable, and after a few days things stabilize pretty quickly.

Yess I don't mind bracket Idea either as long as like you said everyone is able to shift around quickly at least in first few weeks until everyone is adjusted to around there correct bracket.

    @RedCentipede said:

Do we know when this MMR change is coming? I'm not always up to date with all DBD socials.

No but Mandy said a lil bit ago would probs be in new few months.

    image.png

    @MrMori said:

That would be good and I do agree a reset should happen. But my biggest frustration with hearing about MMR changes is that if they keep the top 20% of players in a giant pool of "top mmr" and wildly throw people into lobbies to backfill people lobby dodging, nothing will actually improve. As long as lobbies stay, MMR is meaningless due to backfill on top of the extremely loose matchmaking pool. Which to an extent I get because there's only so many players in each MMR bracket per region at any given time, but lobbies just make this issue ten times worse. I don't think BHVR are able to recognize how much easier it would be to make a good matchmaking algorithm if we removed the pregame lobby. Then, they could actually guarantee that the 5 players they put together for a good match actually play the match instead of lobby dodging and everything falling apart.

I hope at the very least that like every other team based game with MMR, the MMR you gain or lose becomes dependent on how well the survivor team does as a whole, not how players do individually. It sounds bad on paper, but when you think about it, all that would change is that selfish players that don't play to get the most players out would lose MMR, and strong players that are willing to play for their team and get everyone out, sacrifice themselves for others to get more escapes in the endgame would end up higher MMR, as long as they were a net positive on the match.

Yes I agree Lobby dodging will need to be addressed as well for any MMR system to work correctly. We need to be peanlising people who are dodging over and over just like we do to people who dc over and over.

I like your idea of removing lobby entirely, I'm also not opposed to just penalizing people who are leaving once loaded into the pre game lobby, considering it a DC.

  • I mean we don't know a lot of the characters sexualities.

Jeff could be asexual for all we know.

  • Haven't seen much toba but swear every time I play billy the games has 50% chance to be like "here's your lerys/RPD Sir"

  • how about we just give everyone the abandon button as soon as they load into the match /s

  • I dont think we should restrict totem spawns but survivor should have a better totem finding perk.

I would like to see a buff with small games in some way, perhaps just straight aura rather then noise notification.

  • Yes bots are SOOOO BAD nowadays. They also need to be able to trade even if they go down. OR at least make them sit on gens once they realise killer is nearbly

I had situation recently where killer was proxy camping hook so the bot just kept running back and fourth in the middle of the map doing absolutely nothing. because they would get close to hook, hear terror radius, run away, get out of radius and try to run in again.

On the other hand I've had a bot try to take a hit when I've picked them up off ground rather then run away with no endurance witch caused the whole match to be thrown.

They do need to play smarter. (or maybe even MMR based) I don't know what lobbies folks be getting but my teammates are usually no where near that dumb.

side note: but bots also need to be fixed with Jason because they will legit sandbag people in OE by not crouching.

  • I do think its cringe if the killer is in chase and they break their necks at unhook notification tryna go back to hook, especially if its 4-5 gens.

I find that happening to commonly just because people want the tunnel, will even be left when I'm about to be downed sometimes because unhook notification has played. "PING go back to hook"

That situation is more common then people going back to hook because of no info imo, even in my soloq matches people will be waiting to unhook until killer takes chase and they still come back.

To be fair, snarky with a valid point tends to win just as many up votes as down from the crowd. Generally people just dont be snarky and correct at the same time and just be snarky and make themselves look dumb.

I think it depends how it comes off.

Eg. Op chaos shuffle post makes good points I just think that snark remark he made caused that post to have more downvotes because of vibe it gave off because otherwise it was valid points raised.

I've also made snarky post about Jason which have been downvoted heavily meanwhile when I explain what I don't like about him they get more upvotes.

  • I wanted to reply again to topic now that im home

if you come of as snarky in post people will downvote, I actually commented on one of your other posts other day about Chaos shuffle ad ons and you had a snarky second paragraph towards survivors, of course that's gonna get downvotes when you add that sorta line to it, and I don't think that specific thread would of had as many downvotes if it was not included.

Bhvr what are you doing? Last time Chaos Shuffle returned you made Addons random for Killers but removed some of them from the chance pool which was a totally logical and good change. Why the hell would you change it now? There is a difference between a survivor getting a 1 out of 173 chance to pull the one perk that nerfs you (NM) and giving every killer their stupid meme addons that nerf the power for 1% more bloodpoints and then there are addons who don't work together and result into making the complete power useless.

And no little Timmy "but Survivors also have every addon for every item randomized" is not a valid argument when there are 0 addons in this game for the survivor side which make the item worse or the survivor.

Chaos Shuffle was perfect last time and again your weird habit to fix what is not broken is making the game worse.

I do think some killer ad ons should be excluded that are a net negative (padded jaws being a clear cut example)

Survivors do have one ad on that does make the item worse then no ad ons. All tho i dont think it needs removing just wanted to add as response to your second paragraph.
