I mean we don't know a lot of the characters sexualities.
Jeff could be asexual for all we know.
im not sure what relevance sexuality has to this game such that niche sexual or romantic identities need to be represented and advertised in a game not about sexuality and romantic identities. Especially when the identity group in question is not even under attack.
Not sure if Meg has already some romantic relationship mentioned in Lore or not and just asking to ‘make’ a character a specific sexuality kinda seems weird.
But i am not against more representation especially for under represented groups (generally speaking not only with LGBTQ+ in mind)
’Not under attack’ is a bold statement when considering that asexuality is often completely ignored or brushed off even in LGBTQ circled.. but i guess it depends on how someone defines ‘attack’ here.
yea ignored isnt the same as being attacked, something that gay people have been.
and frankly society doesnt care if your asexual. people dont tend to create moral positions on it as it doesnt interact with some of the main ideological machines that would be against other identity types such as being gay.
Gay people may have people who will not associate with them being gay.
No one is determining that they wont interact with someone due to them having a lack of sexual desire. not comparable.
yeah as i said, it depends on Definition. Asexual people don’t usually get physically attacked but being marginalized and being told that you don’t matter, or that you cant ask for representation in media because you are niche can very well be viewed as being attacked. And downplaying the mental pressure from this as well.
Many asexual people cant express themselves in society and may feel the need to mask and stay in their closet.
not having a flag emblem in a video game regarding someones lack of sexual desires in a game not about sexual desires is not marginalizing or saying you dont matter.
Where are you unable to express that you dont want to have sex with other people?
and why is that something thats important to express to other people in dead by daylight?

I have been talking about representation in media in general. In Dead by Daylight, it is not that important but neither is representation of heterosexual themes and yet… it was part of it since almost the very beginning. It also wouldnt really affect anything to just have an ace confirmed character in DbD anyways, we have chars in heterosexuell relationships and a gay, lesbian and even trans character and it didnt make the game better or worse but more diverse.
You are unable to express it in society, at work, in friend groups, many MANY people will talk it down, assume you are Gay and don’t want to admit it or something, just haven’t found the right one. Sexuality and romantic relations are huge topics pretty much everywhere and people that come out as asexual will most likely face some kind of marginalization in their life, feeling left out, especially during their teenage years. And representation in Media can help these folks accept themselves and perhaps see that their social surroundings are more accepting (… or not if they throw a fit at the mere suggestion of some representation that wouldnt affect them at all…)
And DbD is getting even more diverse and you are able to express yourself in many different ways and forms, character and skin choices, Charms and Banners and Badges, User names,… why stop at the inclusion of am asexual character when we have so many other forms of different representation?
I didnt even ask for this explicitly, but when people are so against it i feel like thats already a hint that it is needed and there is some form of rejection present that is uncalled for.
to clarify then, i genuinly have no opposition to an asexual charm, character or banner or whatever added to the game. No part of my being gives a damn about what anyones sexual or romantic preferences are as long as no one is being harmed.
But i do not personally see a reasonable justification to "call for" representation for a frankly irrelevant component of a Separate product(dbd) that the overwhelming majority of people do not care about (i am sure there are people who are weird about it but that is not most people)
Human beings are extremely complex and nuanced things and we can break down into a billion labels for various aspects of human personality. we do not need to try and have every single version of human or identity represented and celebrated.
