@DocOctober I think it's funny that you hate my tone so much when I have consistently been one of the people who was more polite about my doubts, and even apologized for offending you off the bat. I had said "we know how reliable the Wiki is" in regards to the September 11th release date speculation, meaning it as a joke. At the time, I didn't know anybody running the Wiki would see it. Had I known that, I wouldn't have posted it. Because whether I feel that way or not, it's rude to throw it in someone's face.

That said, I never relied on the 9/11 release date. Because I was waiting for dev confirmation. So I wasn't upset at you for it being wrong, because nothing had officially been announced. Take that as you will. But a lot of others felt misled, and the devs got blamed. Which wasn't very fair, either.

Like I said before, I get that you dedicate your time to updating the Wiki. But you got so mad at anyone who had any questions, it felt like you just wanted gratitude with no questions asked. Which, to me, is not what volunteering is about, in any sense of the word.

But okay. You can still be mad at me. Can't stop you.

I almost feel like it was the 11th but they had gotten upset about it being leaked rather than them announcing it so they just pushed it back. I mean I feel like they were pretty much tight lipped about the actual date where you'd expect a date considering all the pre hype they did.

Just wanted to know what you would all be up to while taking a vacation during the halloween event?

Depends on how many offenses they've had. First offense(talking any offense) is only a week ban and 2nd is two I think they said. So technically even second offense you might be able to get something from the event. Just going to have to buckle down. Third or fourth you're SOL since third is 4 weeks and fourth is permanent.

  • @Elegant said:
Does anyone know the start date for the event? Have they announced/said anything about it?

    Friday I think. I swear I heard/saw 19th somewhere.

I wouldn't mind something like, say, removing one perk from all SWF players if three or four join. The devs may in the future come up with some more complex solution, but I think a simple one is often the best.

It would have to be one at random rather than removing the perk slot also. If it was a perk slot they'd just make a decision whereas going in thinking you had DS and not would be a much more fair option since the killer is going in thinking he's having a fair game and isn't.

I noticed some of you this may seem crazy but he does have a damn good point. Every time I play dead by daylight it's pretty much with a friend unless I decide to play killer and torture myself for about an hour.

This game is not a symmetrical at all right now. Under the killer you don't feel like a threat just a small burden to survivors depending on would kill you play.

Honestly I would like to see all of the ranks that the Devs currently have.

Also I would like to see the streamers that they enlisted.

Developers never reached rank 1 and they gave fog whispers to streamers that DC to derank, not gonna name and shame since a mod will sacrifice me. It's nonsense currently but the game is getting better with every baby step.

    At least HybridPanda plays fair.

I play on PS4 and don't find it that bad. The occasional insult but that's usually when you have a good game.

I have yet to see a survivor aiding the killer.

How is it even possible for friends to get in a game as killer and survivor? Just by luck? Meh I can live with those odds.

I had a game where a killer was trading downs and heals with the other 3 in the basement and I was doing gens and he got mad. When he eventually got me I was unluckily near it and he didn't get the hook but the other survivors body blocked me on the steps so he could hook me and they basically got their unhooks and heals and I got screwed.

I have on rare occasion helped out a killer with blood points who we crushed in terms of points and they would have gotten next to none by letting them chase me and maybe even land a hit since I was pretty sure they wouldn't down me. I also let a huntress work on her aim at the exit gate and healing back up if she actually landed a hatchet since unless you play KYF you really don't get a chance to practice aim that doesn't harm you if you miss. I've never intentionally harmed another player or done something like that during the actual match.

  • The stupid thing is the OP thinks most people know when in reality most people do not. I did not for example. I won't take advantage of this, but some will now that you've basically told them they have free reign in the game.

Sucks that the report system after the game that I consistently use for the lag switchers and trolls is doing absolutely nothing.

As much as everyone likes to disagree, Meg needs new cosmetics. :) She's been given a lot, but the vast majority are absolutely rubbish when you compare them to what the others survivors got.

It's like the devs have never seen Instagram before - lots of fit girls have cool looking clothes. And when they're not at the gym, they don't all wear boys' tracksuits.

The survivors are not all from our era. Prime example is that Laurie is from the 70's as if she was ripped right out from after the movie(can only really be 1 or 2 although 2 is about to not be canon anymore or a different timeline). Meg can easily be from the 80's which girls in the 80's who were athletic tended to be tomboyish and not like the glam gym girls of today. Feng Min has to be from a closer time frame due to her e-sports connection. Tapp is from 2004 and Amanda(Pig) from 2006 as both of their deaths happened in those years.

Granted they do make cosmetics that have nothing to do with the character like the Japan themed ones.

"Survivors should gen rush if you don't want killers to camp"

"Killers camp because survivors gen rush"

Let's be real, people can get camped for any reason. There's no one stop solution because it's not about how survivors play, it's how killers feel. The only role a survivor has in getting camped is getting caught in the first place.

Killers camp because they're bad, someone bm'd, or they have dying light. Most often it's the first. Least often it's the last.

  • @Rebel_Raven said:
There's a large flaw in this.
You need to have generators to pressure the killer with!

A lot of groups will not leave any, opting to have most, or all of them done by the time the decoy gets hooked.
If there are any left, they usually have popped off enough to make a killer concerned.
If a group has popped off 3 generators within the first few minutes of the match, or even 4, then the killer realizes the 5th isn't far behind, and there's no telling what it is.
If the gates are open (It's entirely possible to have all gens done, and the gates open in under 5 minutes) then this plan completely falls apart.
Therefore the killer camps whoever is on the hook to secure a kill. It's about all they can do that isn't a massive gamble.

But I've seen it often enough that survivors panic, and hide while someone is even being carried to the hook.
When someone is hooked, someone, at least 1 survivor if there's more than 2, needs to be on a generator, or running for their lives. If there's 4, 5 generators left to do, someone needs to be on a gen.

I love how you're pretty much implying it's SWF because no non SWF group is that coordinated.

  • The fact that you have 1 survivor that was hooked with RBT on means it really does slow the game because they're not doing generators for a set time. Claiming that "getting it off on the first box" as if it's a common occurance(it's a 1/4 chance that's not common) only makes you seem biased.

  • Who's looking at jigsaw boxes until you're already ahead? If anything you really don't need them on pig anyway considering you come naturally with a game slower.

@NextKillerSpongebob If the devs remove pallet looping what are survivors supposed to do against the killer?

Hide instead of getting into the chase in the first place.

The game is balanced around chases. If they remove pallets and loops they'd have to buff survivors and then you'd cry.

The killer should not kill anyone until everyone has been hooked twice. Then the survivors all die on their 3rd hook. So that there is a total of 12 hooks that need to be performed by the killer for the 4 kill.

But keep it at needing 2-5 generators completed for escape. Because that's fair. Also, don't touch my get out of jail for free perks like DS and DH and BT and SC and Adrenaline. Because 12 chances isn't enough for the survivor team.

so your "friend" is way too much of a scrub to compete against high rank players and decides to fck all the items, add ons and offerings of the survivors he crosses path with when hes lowering his rank by DCing? I say good job devs, keep on it

Survivors dont lose their items and addons when the killer DCs. Its actually the killer who loses all his loadout when survivors DC (at least he gets 2,5k BP for compensation lul)

Actually killers have found a way to make survivors dc rather than themselves so the survivors lose 2 pips, lose items(which normally doesn't happen if you dc) and get 0 BP. So yeah I'm pretty sure that's worse than a killer has happen. 4 people lose essentially 20k bp and 2 pips?

  • Rank is MMR. Intentionally deranking is doing so with the intent on putting yourself with lower ranked players.

Rank means absolutely nothing in the game other than a tool to appropriately place you with people at your skill level.

How would you rate this totem placement then? Happened thrice since this.

Its a ######### placement, but haunted ground does a lot to combat this. I've lost a number of games because my fellow survivors were cleanse happy. "Oh, you're being chases? Game just started and killer is patrolling and we don't know who it is or where htey are?" BOOM Exposed. Dead.

I'll always test a gen before I cleanse a totem. If its not hexed, I'll probably wait until I can figure out what the other hexes might be, and assume its haunted.

That said, haunted puts survivors in a weird position because if I cleanse it, I have the opportunity to hide when I'm exposed because I know it MIGHT be haunted... but my fellow survivors might be in a terrible position to get exposed all of a sudden.

You could also do it if someone is injured in a chase because then typically it won't matter as it should wear off before she moves to someone new.

Why? Because I'm pissed off people can cheat?

Kinda tells you what kind of players DBD has, then.

No, because you assume the worst even though it probably isn't happening.

    Must be 4 man swf
Must have dc'd because of obsession (Are you only running obsession perks?)
Must be using tactical comms and relaying information about every blade of grass the killer moves
Must be telling each other my perks

This has happened in probably like 5% of my matches, and in 2300 hours I think that's pretty damn good. As a killer I don't dodge SWF, I don't dodge any lobbies regardless of items, clothing, anything. I still kill pretty well, of course theres some matches that are bad but that's expected because we all make mistakes.

To simply imply survivors are cheating because they "DC" or they're in a 4 man because one "DC" is ignorant.
DC'ing as an SWF serves no purpose, I'd rather have the extra man than see what perks a killer has. It's ridiculous, play on rank reset, learn some new tactics and move on.

You really did not get any of what I said.

I know they are a 4 man because THEY SAY SO AND ######### TALK AT THE END OF MATCHES.

I know the obsession disconnected to deny me the Obsession perks because, a little louder THEY SAY SO AND ######### TALK AT THE END OF MATCHES

And those few times they DON'T, how come it's 'just happens' to be the Obsession who loses connection?

No, I'm finding non-SWF's where the Obsession 'just happens' to disconnect after 30 seconds and they all 'just happen' to be raging ######### willing to ALL #########-talk me and pat themselves on the back for 1 whole Survivor getting away.

I think I just rolled my eyes so hard, I have a headache from how immensely off-the-mark and naive your reply was.

Dude Obsession = Decisive Strike. People with DS disconnect ALL the time, when not in SWF, so much so that its a running joke of when the guy with DS will DC

Gods damnit. Post got eaten again.

Let me say it slow and loud for you:
WHEN I, ME, MYSELF (this means me, not them, me.) HAVE AN OBSESSION PERK, AND THE PLAYERS ARE IN A SWF GROUP, THE OBSESSION WILL LEAVE TO REMOVE MY PERKS MORE THAN HALF THE TIME

They may not know WHAT they removed, but they know they removed SOMETHING. And they usually know this because, again, I'll say it loud for you THEY DON'T RUN ANY PERKS THAT MAKE THEM THE OBSESSED

You act like 'Well, DS is a thing, so clearly they can't NOT run DS, know he has Obsession perks and leave! It's not possible by the laws of reality! Pshaw!'

I know what happens. I AM [BAD WORD] THERE, HAVING IT HAPPEN TO ME

I still don't understand your incredibly stupid problem with the situation. If there were a perk that immediately killed a player and then the perk got disabled, it would be the best perk in the game. This is literally what you are complaining about.

No. I am saying, if I have a perk with an Obsession. And someone is my obsession, and they don't have DS. They disconnect to remove my perks using Obsession.

    This is cheating.

Again, what is your problem with this? You got a free, instant kill on a player in exchange for a perk slot. Remember Me, Play With Your Food, Save the Best for Last, etc, all are objectively weaker than an instant kill on a player.

Regardless, DCing to remove perks in any form is cheating.

The sheer fact you make it out like every match is like this really just leads me to believe that no matter how many good matches you have, or how many buffs killers get, you'll still find something to complain about.

They aren't DCing to "remove" your perk, they're probably using DS and missed it, what Obssession perk are you using that is so damn powerful at end game you need it? lol

About the only one that really even matters in this case is Dying Light which yay if they dc because you win. Rancor just would have let you kill them anyway so same effect and the secondary effect still works if they die. The other two Myers perks are nullified by attacking the obsession so you screwed yourself by attacking them anyway. About the only one you'd really be screwed with is remember me, but then again you aren't because you got 2 stacks.

So you are tempted to go to the hook and the killer can ambush you there.

That's not why it's there. Hence you'll now be losing chasing emblems for being the baddie that you are, but they should up it to also being that you lose bloodpoints as well.]

If camping hooks is legit then they should remove crows from idle survivors because that's essentially the reason they added them to the game. Slowing down the game because you're a baddie survivor who wants to hide is also bad for the game. But if camping is fine then the crows need to go.

Unhooking immediately or when some idiot is bringing a chase near the hook should be punished with either the unhooker or unhooked being downed(although it wasn't the hooked person's fault that their teammate was stupid). Otherwise you're just basically making the game ######### by camping.

I literally hope every game you get is a SWF on comms so they can know you're camping and you'll only ever get 1k.

The point being you should avoid getting caught. That is the only sure method. Does every killer do it, no, but you should expect it. Play like you only have the one and the stress of being hooked doesn't apply, you only have the tension of avoiding the killer. And if a teammate makes the save, all the better for you. I agree camping sucks but piling punishment won't stop it, only make it more clear when a killer is punishing you.

The point being then they should remove the ability to unhook more than once and triple the hook time if you're saying 1 hook is it and camping is fine.

Never said camping if fine, I said i can see why it is done for different reasons. And I like survivors getting unhooked, nothing gets me more frustrated than somebody giving up before I walk away. I want my points! Besides the unhook is there so you can be saved ((if possible)). Doesn't mean I expect to be saved even if the killer walks away, I mean hows the team suppose to know unless they take a risk or you run the perks.

There's a huge difference between what you're saying and what you implied. You posted in a thread about camping that you should expect your first hook to be your last when it's actually the opposite from what the game implies. 1 hook kills should be a rarity not even remotely close to the norm. Don't do it myself but I see and understand why it happens. Its the least effective method for points but can help eliminate problem survivors. If you run the killer for 1-2 gens he knows that another chase is not worth the time. Yes the team gets more gens done, but the killer gets:
    1. A proved threat out of the way
    2. Secures the kill and sacrifice points
    3. Has hindered  the team if gens weren't powered through and saves failed

The new system will help noobie killers to work on hunting and chase. It will not regardless of how many points you take stop a troll/toxic player from messing with you. If the killer is in your face slapping you, its not about points anymore.

About the only situation I can understand is Dying Light which the survivor KNOWS they have it so should be extra careful.

The change will not help players because it only affects emblems. New players want blood points. Hit them in the blood points AND the emblems and they'll stop.

If I play at R1 and regularly camp the survivors I down, earn between 40 and 60k BP, get 1-2 pips and 4k 9 out of 10 matches why would I change the way I play? It seems to be working, right?

That's a flat out lie. All of the top streamers have shown this. You're pretty much going to get 20k if you somehow get a 4k which camping at rank 1 will almost never net you a 4k. You lose hunting points, you lose the points from multiple hooks, you lose the points from deviousness because you're obviously not using your power as much if you're 1 hooking everyone because you camped, you lose brutality because you're obviously once again only hitting typically 2 per survivor unless they try to save which most won't when you camp at rank 1 and you're not breaking objects since less pallets are dropped.

Sit and lie more. Also with the change as is, you'll probably barely black pip if you camp because you'll be having chase points penalty for every second you sit there.

  • Except that's not the case. It's used far far less than that by actual stats that have been released. So keep telling yourself that your anecdotes are evidence.

  • I really don't understand how people think camping is even ok unless the survivor was toxic. You are pretty much supposed to go into it knowing you're at least going to have to down the same person twice if not three times

calm spirit makes it completely useless. its a perk with a complete direct counter.

Who is running that though? Jake Park enthusiasts? People really need to stop bringing up calm spirit as if people run it.

That's the point, SFTS is a trashed perk with a 100% counter available.
Any perk that has a 100% counter available, should be really frickin powerful.
Why should anybody run the counter perk, if no one is using the perk it counters?

.... the point of calm spirit is that birds NATURALLY fly away and if you're not a shitter killer you can see it. Spies from the Shadows is like Deerstalker, Iron Grasp, Deja Vu, and all the other "I'm bad at simple game concepts" perks.

    You are kinda new, huh?
You do not remember the original SFTS, right?
Perks are NOT about "crutches", they are meant to be a supernatural advantage. Because it is 4 vs ONE.
So the one is meant to have abilities that give him an edge.
Survivor only call it "#########" because they think they should be able to 1 on 1 the killer, but that is not how an asymetrical game should work.

.....I was saying there are certain perks on both survivors and killers that are basically "I am bad so I need this" in terms of normal gameplay. Deerstalker is the biggest example of that. Most good players can find a survivor they downed even after leaving them. Another example is Iron Grasp as most good players rarely miss getting to the hook and would much rather use something else. Most survivors should be able to see generators and know spawns around the map so Deja Vu is another unless you're using map with the crystal bead to show others the whole map. Spies from the Shadows falls under this as it stands because it really isn't powerful enough to warrant using, but provides a limited locational ability if you are bad at looking at crows. 1.0 version was the same except weaker.

I run it standard because...well, i don't really need anything other than my standard 3 Perks.
I love versing Doctors with the Perk, hiding is ez pz.

You're the exception not the rule. It's in the bottom 10 of used perks whether you look at rank 1 or all.

I would like it when you prestige that each time you keep 1 extra perk slot. 1=2 slots 2=3 and 3=all 4

    NO. Just no.

And for the question maybe in the feature? There are a lot of perks

"hur dur I'm going to say something with no real reasoning and sound authoritative when I really don't"

Okay do you want reasoning? Prestiging takes forever to get to lvl 3 already.

Your reading comprehension is SERIOUSLY low. I said that when you prestige you're keeping the perk slots. So when you prestige the third time, you have all 4 open at lvl 1. That's simply a QoL issue so you can maybe use the person you invested points into.

So instead of getting to lvl 15 you just have them open. Ok?

Yeah. It's not game breaking since you typically are going to be loading points in, but at least it's a little something if you want to use them in the meantime. Prestige 1 lvl 1 has 2 open at 1 and everything shifts down to where you have 4 at 10. 2 has 3 at 1 and you get 4th at 5 and so on.

I had to google FNaF. For anyone else unfamiliar with it, they are talking about Five Nights at Freddy's. It's a silly jump scare game. I can't say I like the idea of Chuck'E Cheese animatronic robot killer in DBD. I don't think robots, ninjas, zombies, aliens, etc really belong. Though I suppose, a zombie isn't too far away from a spirit when you think about it.

Still, you almost got a Ninja Ghost in the last DLC

You have a point. Maybe an alien robot next time huh?

Xenomorph from Alien series is actually considered an iconic horror monster.

The same thing as a terror radius. The volume changes depending on how close or far. If you move and it gets louders you went closer so change direction. Worst case scenario find a loop or pallets and then get away and fail a skill check to wake up.

Thats only half true. Maybe I just don't have an ear for it, or its my wife talking to me as I play, or my friends in the party chat (sometimes playing different games), but the singing is a different sound than the normal terror radius, its much more subtle and doesn't seem (to me at least) to have the same directional sensitivity as the normal terror radius sounds. So to me, choosing which direction to go, or hide, or just stay on the gen because maybe he hasn't seen me yet - feels very random. I don't like random.

It's 100% true just like Huntress's song except Huntress's fades into the terror radius where Freddy's just gets louder.

  • Sitting there staring at them is NOT securing a kill. Gotta love when a baby who does this dc's when a rescue happens anyway. Unless you're SWF, camping literally destroys most groups because there is no communication to ignore the hook and baby survivors say ######### the team rather than the baby killer and kill themselves on the hook.

EVERYONE gets far less points when you camp to begin with yet the survivors are punished more for it. How about you get good and not need to camp. Big difference when someone is clearly right there, but 99% of the time it isn't the case and isn't how the game was meant to be played.

I think The Beast from Magicians would fit right in with the list of killers with his frightening visage and rather nasty slew of magic powers. Ideas for what magic he could use could be a cooldown that lets him walk through walls like he's stepping over a window or a time stop that affects the last person he was in a chase with that ends prematurely if they re-enter his terror radius. Maybe a few weak abilities instead of one strong one.

We already have Baddass Bill Overbeck from Left 4 Dead, why no killer? I could see the Hunter with a leap. Maybe the witch stopping to use "weep" and gradually ramp her speed or drastically amplify her ability to hear survivors.

I've seen a few people mention The Thing and a few people reply "how would it work" well, my thought is it starts out looking like a different random killer (limit which ones that have powers they use frequently like the nurse or huntress). After it hits a survivor it can mimic them including their 3rd person viewpoint. It could walk right up to start "helping" on a generator, then it bursts out and lunges at them. They would need to make certain survivor aura abilities work when it's disguised though.

No FNAF characters though, there's a reason they barely move in the games and it's because they look goofy when they do. If we're going to have a silly character I'd much rather a Spooky Scary Skeleton for killers who think they're hot ######### and want to play with a handicap. Plus, his terror radius could constantly loop his silly music.

Bill is exclusive to PC and his perks are open to everyone in the console versions so why introduce another killer that they won't put on console?

Freddy, while being really easy when you have a team who understands his MAJOR weaknesses, is just NOT FUN to play against - even if we are able to stomp on him. The whole invisible thing is a stupid mechanic IMO.

I mean he still has a terror radius..... if it weren't for the girls singing you'd have a point, but they do so you don't. Unlike the Wraith who can sneak around an object or bad players who can't see the outline. Even Freddy also disturbs the area in corn or grass etc.

Its the randomness of it. If you hear the girls singing, do what (?), run in a random direction. MAYBE you could stop and try to see if things are being disturbed, that is again totally dependent on the map your randomly assigned. I can SEE Wraiths outline, so as I'm doing a gen I don't feel like it was just a totally random occurrence whether or not I was able to be stealthy.

The same thing as a terror radius. The volume changes depending on how close or far. If you move and it gets louders you went closer so change direction. Worst case scenario find a loop or pallets and then get away and fail a skill check to wake up.

Definitely the Doctor. Far from being the strongest killer, I know, but the way he messes with your mind is extremely frustrating. Also, never could figure out how exactly Madness effects vaulting.

Nurse is the best killer in the right hands. That and Billy. Mobility is key. Technically Spirit is up there too if you know how to use her.

He's pretty easy to counter. You cannot perform any actions for 2.5 seconds after getting zapped, calm spirit counters screaming, his illusions disappear when you walk into them. He can still be looped at most of the loops. Just get out of tier 3 and you are good to go like nothing even happened. Snap out of it counts as healing, so he can see you with nurse's. The only problem that I find with him is addons that cause exhaustion. If he switches between treatment and punishment it means he is not bloodlusting. After hitting you with shock therapy and switching to punishment you'll most likely already be able to interact with objects. Plays as him for a bit and you'll see he's pretty weak, he's just annoying and some people panic and make mistakes when they are hit with carter's spark, see an illusion, see the red stain or hear constant heartbeat

Except you need calm spirit beforehand and if you run it vs any other killer it's pretty much wasted.

Heyyyyy so I have this thing that pretty much takes you out of the game for a bit after I've downed you.... but just to be sure let me hang around here to make sure the hook does the job anyway. Oh and let me do it not even in crouch and hit you while you're hooked.
