Spies from the Shadows
Its not trash its decent, no one expects you to run it but what are some ways they can make it a good or great perk? I dont have any ideas

Remove the RNG and change the notification similar to that of Tinkerer.
100% instead of 75%.
Have it map-wide instead of 32 meters.
Gain noise- & visual notifications from AFK Crows if a Survivor has 1 AFK Crow instead of 3.
No, i don't mean to have all of these changes apply, these are separate ideas.
Feel free to combine them however you want.
calm spirit makes it completely useless. its a perk with a complete direct counter.
Is this bait?
Serious, the perk got nerfed to trash.
Who is running that though? Jake Park enthusiasts? People really need to stop bringing up calm spirit as if people run it.
People with Doctor ptsd
Killer shouldn't disturb the crows if they have this perk, and instead of a notification you see the crow auras when a survivor disturbs them. Also make it 100% at tier 3.
That's the point, SFTS is a trashed perk with a 100% counter available.
Any perk that has a 100% counter available, should be really frickin powerful.
Why should anybody run the counter perk, if no one is using the perk it counters?
.... the point of calm spirit is that birds NATURALLY fly away and if you're not a shitter killer you can see it. Spies from the Shadows is like Deerstalker, Iron Grasp, Deja Vu, and all the other "I'm bad at simple game concepts" perks.
You are kinda new, huh?
You do not remember the original SFTS, right?
Perks are NOT about "crutches", they are meant to be a supernatural advantage. Because it is 4 vs ONE.
So the one is meant to have abilities that give him an edge.
Survivor only call it "#########" because they think they should be able to 1 on 1 the killer, but that is not how an asymetrical game should work.
I run it standard because...well, i don't really need anything other than my standard 3 Perks.
I love versing Doctors with the Perk, hiding is ez pz.
Actually being close enough to hear crows, or looking in the direction when they fly away, is extremely rare. Yeah, they're surefire ways to find someone, but it's like 1/50 matches I actually have a game where I can use wild crows for tracking. It's bad enough we set off crows ourselves, and then hear the audio behind/beside us.
Crows in general are pretty useful though.
There's general spots where they usually hang out and, with some good memory, you can also start remembering where Crows are in the map.
I often learned someone was nearby because a crow was missing.
And them flying away is also not the only way to spot someone.
Crows are usually just standing there, looking around a bit.
So, if you see one flap their wings but they don't fly away, it means someone WAS there very recently, the Crow landed just now.
Now that i think about it, they're kinda like my less useful, but still useful, version of Whispers.
You're the exception not the rule. It's in the bottom 10 of used perks whether you look at rank 1 or all.
.....I was saying there are certain perks on both survivors and killers that are basically "I am bad so I need this" in terms of normal gameplay. Deerstalker is the biggest example of that. Most good players can find a survivor they downed even after leaving them. Another example is Iron Grasp as most good players rarely miss getting to the hook and would much rather use something else. Most survivors should be able to see generators and know spawns around the map so Deja Vu is another unless you're using map with the crystal bead to show others the whole map. Spies from the Shadows falls under this as it stands because it really isn't powerful enough to warrant using, but provides a limited locational ability if you are bad at looking at crows. 1.0 version was the same except weaker.
To be honest, I've started this game a couple of weeks ago and I've found it quite useful so far in helping me along. Especially in chases on dark maps or against survivors with skins that blend into the terrain. So maybe people are correct in saying that it is a rookie-perk. :-)
I still use it, but it is not as useful to me as it was to begin with. Probably a combination of me being more observant and players on lower levels being more aware of not scaring crows. But I'd say on average it still helps me find a hidden survivor from time to time.
100% and map wide would make it a viable perk.
An alternative to the other detection perks.
Then i guess those 2 Survivors every 4 matches are also exceptions...many...many exceptions.
Except that's not the case. It's used far far less than that by actual stats that have been released. So keep telling yourself that your anecdotes are evidence.
It'd be better if disturbing a crow gave you one crow for 5/10/15 seconds based on perk level.
What if Spies from the Shadows worked like if a Survivor is within x metres away from a crow, they wont fly away. Instead they will caw non-stop until the Survivor leaves that x metre area? Like Whispers but on selected areas instead of around the killer.
But that's something that survivor would notice.
The old Spies was way better, because the survivor had to thing IF the killer was running SFTS.
And the range was much higher.
Show me those stats after Calm Spirit's buff.
You know, the evidence that you didn't present.
Can't really say no to no evidence when you yourself present none of the current situation. Or, well, you can, but you'd be a hypocrite.
