Obviously they care about money over overall satisfaction. (Proven by maaaaany things ;).)
Ruin change made this game more attractive for newer players, but now many killers stop playing this game alltogether, leading to very long queue times (with short matches lmao).
Leeching money off new players is cool and all but at one point many people will stop playing and advice other people to not touch this game and spend money on it.
Why not just make the game fun for everyone? Milking this game for another year and then make it die is so much wasted potencial.
I doubt they want the game to die, mostly because it's their only cash cow but they know survivors are money profitable and they know they need more new players, but not thinking about making the killer side fun is short sighted at best and if they are thinking of killer they need to fire the person who's been signing off on the killer changes as of recent

Yes, trials without old Hex:Ruin will not be the same. I agree.
But now that players are not always expecting Hex Totems. People are quickly adapting to applying more Gen pressure and less scouting. Hex’s are not destroyed as quick as they used to be due to survivors not always expecting and looking for Ruin at the start of the match. I’m telling you that Hex Perks are now stronger and last longer than before.
It's actually kind of the opposite, hex ruin was the only hex that saw any amount of popularity except maybe haunted grounds just to defend ruin so now that ruin is gone they dont for it because they have almost no power, and sure because of this you might get one down with devour hope, maybe, and even then I've been trying to get get ruin tonwork with surveillance but ruin still pops on average within 2 minutes, hex perks imo wont be decent till they completely overhaul and change either some kind of respawn mechanic to totems or just make them harder to find and stop putting hex totems within eyesight of a ######### gen.

Its because a lot of their comments get contradicted by evidence and statistics?
People claim nurse is OP: Nurse has the single worst average KR in the game(43% aka in the needs buff tier of bad KR) and 3rd worst in red ranks.
People claim billy is the best killer in the game when on all statistics he is 3rd at best KR in red ranks and almost exact middle of all killer's KR in overall KR stats.
People claim killers with BBQ get over 100k average BP per game even though BP is capped to 64k(Or 72k with 100% one category offerings) with BBQ and can only ever break 100k with BPS/Pudding(? I forget if pudding even gets multiplied) as normal BP offerings don't get multiplied.
TLDR: Its because a lot of the time they are wrong. Balanced(50/50 surv/killer) player.
If you think nurse is a bad killer and needs to be buffed, your ignorant at best, if you think billy is the best killer in the game you are equally stupid. Spirit and nurse have been the best killers in the game for awhile. The problem is that they have massive learning curves(more nurse than spirit but she can take a bit longer used too). And billy is arguably the 3rd best in the game but it's a toss up between him hag, and huntress for most high end killer mains. So sure by this logic statistically trapper is probably one of the best killers or is atleast the most popular doesnt mean hes the strongest by a long shot and needs a nerf quite the opposite honestly if you want info on what's the best of anything in a game you look at what the best players are using not what the bottom 90% are using.

Yeah, insidious Bubba basement build every game, we all ran BT and DS so we felt like doing the saves, but he was a rank 1 P3 bubba so he knew what he was doing
I mean that dudes just trolling survs who ######### up. Honestly if a bubba does that right now just do gens by the time your teammate dies you've done pretty much all the gens so he gets maybe 1 kill.

The problem there was specificly with Bubbas, all of them, and we like to play hero, yes, dumb, I know
I mean bubba is one of the weakest killers in the game past rank 10 so if your problem is with bubba I dont know what to tell you, plus oni is way more slug heavy, in fact his kit encourages it.

You do not need to buy any DLCs to complete the Rift. Any characters needs to complete the challenges are available in the store via shards (Auric Cell only characters are not required), and any perks needed for challenges can be bought in the shrine for shards as well. In the event that a DLC perk is required, it will be guaranteed to appear in the shrine at some point during the Rift, typically during the week the challenge is added or the week immediately following.
The short version, in response to your concern about an Auric Cell only character being required, everything you need will be available for shards.
Bhvr is expecting people to do way too much grinding then i've played this game for well over 200 hours and i've only earned enough for maybe 2 or 3 dlcs worth of content, there just shouldnt be killer mandatory challenges or if there are make it so its only one per rift and make that killer free for the duration of the rift.

BT exists cause killers play cheap. If BT would get nerfed, you would have to get rid of the possibility to play cheap as killer first. But as it stands devs favor killers cheap play.
You say that like survivors dont play cheap with things like deadhard, AD, DS, toolboxes, and keys and if you dont think those things are cheap as hell you're showing your bias.

That's pretty much just bodyblocking though...
i mean sure but you'd have to be full health as a surv to reliably get someone off the hook and you wouldnt be able to safely unhook in a killers face without having atleast 2 people to save the person cause right now people just use bt as a safe unhook right as soon as they hook them

From a killer main I like most Macmillan maps, except pit, autohavens are fun too, springwood is meh not the best not the worst, crotus is aight little better then badham. Lerys, Cooldwind, Yamaoka, Ormond, and Red forest can burn. Swamp is meh not big on it, Hawkins cans be fun depending on what killer I play but since I main billy it's usually pretty annoying, and finally I dont really like the game since whispers is infuriating to use and there aren't enough ways to go between the floors, also to many safe pallets but once those are busted it's not bad. Oh also haddonfields an instant dc.

They never took it back because of complaints, it was only ever a trial to test the implementation.
A reason why they wont put it out right now is because the game is borked and infinite load screens count as a dc, and there was gamebreaking bugs that forced people to dc too so the innocent were being punished.
Fair enough I guess still the funny thing was that while it was active I got more dcs then usual
-
You know I was an advocate for implementing dc penalties because of how bad it was survivors would dc first down and then the rest of the game is #########, then to many people complained and took they took it back out almost immediately. Now that the shoes on the other foot I find this very ironic, and hilarious.

I've seen so many posts, both here and on reddit, from "killer mains" saying they're quitting the game, etc and claiming its unplayable now.
What did I miss? To me playing killer is easier now than its ever been. (I know a lot of people are upset about ruin but I never used/liked hex perks due to how inconsistent they are. Besides, high ranks just worked through it or knew the totem spots anyways)
I'm honestly at a loss. If I'm unaware of something please tell me. All the complaining I've seen lately is just mind-boggling...
To me and maybe others playing killer has just been less fun with every update, and the devs seem intent on not listening to issues killers have with the game namely map design so I'm just fed up with bhvrs design philosophy of if its popular it must be op and then not at why the thing was popular.

I only do under 2 conditions 1. It's a map I absolutely despise, and 2. If I'm running a hex perk and it gets destroyed before I even find a survivor.

Did you know 3 gens done by different and alone survivors take less time (80 seconds) than 4 men on one gen doing 3 full gens together (86 seconds) and I'm not adding the factor that they need to traverse the map, and if they do gens next to each other to make them fast and the 3+ survs stay together they actually end up 3 genning themselves?
ACTUAL good SWF do different gens at the same time, they don't work on the same one in my experience.
I always want them together for easy injures and to make them have to heal instead of repair
How about you?
EDIT: Red rank 1 trapper main, xbox
The most effective way to do gens is every survivor doing a different gen by a long shot

I can't help but think that since it is 4V1 a killer of equal rank is more skilled at the game.
So for instance a rank 9 killer is probably much more skilled than a rank 9 survivor. A killer has so many more things to do and manage. As well they play solo.
A survivor is in a four man team and hence can be boosted or carried so to say. A rank 9 survivor may be real good at stealth but may lack the skill to loop, because someone on their team may constantly take this role.
So what do you guys think. Pound for Pound are killers of equal rank more skilled?
It's hard to say since the roles are so different, I would argue that killer is more stressful though

Keys should be changed into something else and shouldnt interact with the hatch. I'm fine with the key add ons but the hatch should only be a last resort type deal if theres only 1 surv left since that's probably their only chance of survival even if it is rng garbage.

Bait. And not everyone abuses the system.
I swear, I'm the only one on the forums who uses the things in game for their intended use.
Well that's problem is that all those perks I mentioned are constantly abused, take BT for example cant tell you how many times I've hooked someone only for a surv to try and unhook in my face hook tech me then the unhooked guy body blocks to abuse his 15 seconds of immortality to let his friend go then use his speed boost to get to a loop. Really fun stuff.

I'm still honestly curious how a slugging perk would work.
Same dude guess you'd have to give all survivors inate unbreakable everytime they go down and have to use a perk to stop them from being able to get back up, which would be totally fair and balanced.
-
@PigMainClaudette said:
Dead Hard is just so universal and doesn't care about maps, unlike Balanced or Lithe and is activated when the survivor chooses unlike Sprint Burst.
Decisive Strike is used to stop tunnelling (or it is by me anyway) because spme killers dont care that survivors are people too.
Unbreakable is for slugging because they've been slugged for running DS.
Prove Thyself doesn't do much at all.
Most of the Survivor meta perks are just universally applicable.
NoED is just infuriating because there is zero warning. The only other Exposure effect that isn't given to you instantly is Devour Hope. THAT is the main problem that I have.
Yes because DS, dead hard, and unbreakable are so easy to notice before you get ######### by one of them, as a killer you get so much notice that a guy you hooked 50 seconds ago after downing and hooking his friend then down him cause he ######### up and now your punished for playing to well and hooking people too quickly. People use DS as 60 seconds of mistake free play then if they're obviously trying to bate out a ds so you slug him you're then punished for calling his bluff by unbreakable, way too much notice on those 2.

For one I said no negative comments on this fourm:) and second I'm not putting the blame one anyone :) all I'm saying is you guys that complain about every change or nerf get soo mad at the devs like they don't know how to fix there game or something.
Just play the game if you don't like it play a different game. Like me I'm playing dead space 3.
So I think you can handle a change once in a while :.)
It's there game and they can do whatever they want.
Again I'm not putting the blame on you guys That complain. Cause it is fine to complain but when it gets out of hand that's not fine:(
Listen dude saying that people's valid complaints are childish and that we should just enjoy the game in it's current state or play something else is quite condescending, you seem to mean well but you're definitely not helping, most people criticizing the game are only doing so because they're passionate about it as a past time, trust me you dont want people to just go play other games that's how a game does, people move on to other games once they stop enjoying a game, and sure bhvr has the right to do whatever they want with their game but that doesnt mean they shouldnt be criticized when they are also selling people a product. People who have bought the game have a right to be able to complain about said product, doesnt mean bhvr has to listen, but it's usually in their best interest to listen to the people who play the game.

Yes, hitting great skill checks is the true test of skill lol.
I like how people constantly say playing survivor is brain dead easy all you do is hold m1 and then act like being able to "perfect" pressing a button at a certain time is the hallmark for skill.
Ruin was a brain dead crutch for killers and now the new version actually requires some input. You've still got NOED and moris to buy you 1-2 more unearned kills, don't worry!
Not really I'd say new ruin is even more passive gameplay then old ruin you literally do nothing to interact with the perk but do every thing you did before but nownits just worse. Before I atleast cared a little to defend my totem now I couldn't be bothered if I even run it. And what about its alternatives corrupt sure I guess that's more "interactive" but is also a worse perk.

Lol they do NOT like having to work at getting kills in the game. For so long it was easy 4ks every game, but then things started changing. So now instead of adapting or perfecting skills, they just lobby dodge and complain on this forum. (Winners huh?) lol
Sad thing is they’re just screwing themselves over in the long run because as game evolves, they won’t be able to keep up as they never “got gud”.
Sure man it has nothing to do with toolboxes allowing gens to be done before a killer even finds a survivor or anything. And it definitely doesnt have anything to do with toolboxes just not being fun to deal with as a killer. Definitely not those, definitely.

Honestly, I get that her nerf was a really hard one that requires people to have much more skill when playing her, but she's still like the best killer in the game right now. Do you guys not find her fun or instead, hard to learn? my last game when i went against a nurse was a week ago and she camped me the entire game cuz i ran her for 3 gens and she dced once i was unhooked right when my adren kicked in. but honestly, i found it fun going against skilled nurses and i can barely find any now. #########?? :(
For me at least shes just not very fun I see why shes so strong but her fatigue animation makes me nauseous and she has too much of a skill curve now, though tbh the people who were already good with her seem to have seen her change as almost a buff in some ways, so they basically just made her less beginner friendly without changing anything that made her broken to begin with. Same with the spirit changes, except hers was more of an actual nerf that just didnt really accomplish anything.

Played Doctor on Lery's, my build: Thrilling Tremors, Pop Goes the Weasel, Infectious Fright and Distressing.
I played like a normal match, I was having fun, I had no issues at all, killed the two Survivors without doing the things that would upset like tunneling and camping, etc etc, I found the last Survivor, instead of slugging for the 4k, I gave this Ace who t-bagged me all match (which is not an issue yet), I closed the hatch after finding it and move back and forth at the gates, this Ace got lucky with his position and got a gate open, I let him go and he t-bagged me at the gate, yet, I never get this issue when I play tactics like tunneling or stuff that others don't like, when I apply pressure, I played optimal, 3 gens were left, and I played nice, the one time and I asked them why they tbagged in out of the reasons they could have, I told them they did nothing to earn a tbag, they called me toxic for messaging them.
Another match I played on Macmillian Estate as Michael Myers, more cocky Surivors in some SWF, I got into E3 and downed 2 Survivors, they DC'd after midway into the game, I hooked a Nancy and she DC'd, a David tried escaping through gates and I downed him and killed him, that Nancy messaged me to say "your garbage" 5-6 times in a row.
My deal is that whenever I seem to play fair and in a good way to make others have fun, it gives them some type of damn boost in ego and to presume I'm some 'trash ez killer' but when I go on a slug fest or try to tunnel a Survivor, they all start going off on their rant on me and blowing up in my face about it, is it just a lose lose situation playing this game? I know a lot of games where the community gets angry over little stuff but by far this tops the cake.
Give an inch they take a mile

i actually like the new system and hope it's gonna work. ppl would stop tryharding for ranks, Q times would be shorter and there's a 50/50 chance to get players the same skill level as you. meaning, you PROBABLY would win 50% of your games which is pretty much how it should be. If the new system is launched, dbd would be more relaxed and not competitive :)
Or it will be even worse than the current system and players will have no data to speculate as to why it's so broken and be given the ability to properly criticize any mistake bhvr is going to inevitably make.

I believe that the Devs should get fired for ruining this game. They claim that they are making it balanced but in reality, any changes makes the killer more hard and less enjoyable. It makes survivor more easier to play. If you look at other 4v1 games, they actually listen to both sides and fix some issue. DBD doesn't really listen to both sides as much. I feel like they are slowly running out of ideas and creativity. I will admit that the archive challenges is a good concept because it gives people more things to do and help sided player to be more versatile. Other indie horror games like White Noise 2 or Friday the 13th are a bit more balanced in a sense.
While I agree that the direction the game has been taking the last couple of major patches has been overall negative, I dont necessarily blame all the devs at bhvr(though I do use "the devs" as a general term myself) but I'm aware that it's mostly the fault of whoever is in charge of making the decisions in regards to balancing and map design that needs to be the ones who take responsibility for the current state of the game.

Seriously what is wrong with you devs and killers? Dont you understand that facecamping is NOT fun?
Not only it ruins the game for 1 or more survivors, but it also awards the killer with a pretty decent amount of bloodpoints which is even more frustrating for the survivors. Killers should be punished for this braindead game play because they literally make the game toxic.
Well tbh making it less fun for survivors is kind of the point most killers have come to the conclusion that devs are more likely to listen to survivors complaints then killers, so if devs are gonna make killers less fun, then killers are gonna make survivor less fun, and hopefully survivors will realize how nice most killers have been up to this point with trying to avoid the more toxic playstyles, cause I'll be honest it's been kind of a treat seeing such a large upsurge of complaints regarding tunneling and camping since the ruin change.

I'm not telling you to keep on playing the game if you don't like it. I thought I made it clear that people shouldn't be telling other people to quit if they don't like something. That was the entire point.
I suppose that's fair but the devs haven't been responding all that well to the criticisms a large part of the community has and the best form of protest is to drop the game so trying to convince others to also drop the game in protest is the most effective way to have these complaints herd whether you agree or not. Cause you can say start a thread or something but there were plenty of threads stating how bad the ruin change was and they never addressed a large majority of said criticisms.

One does not simply drop something they've invested both hard-earned money and never-refunded time in with no qualms.
You have people who've spent several hundreds or even thousands of hours that they will NEVER get back. Now they take issue with their investment and want it to change.
Imagine if you invested in a stock. You do not want to see the stock drop, right? If it does, do you just sell or do you try to make it go up by doing whatever is in your power to make that stock rise? Be it advice or something else, I'd rather try to help my investment than let it squander around.
It's the same with DBD. Especially if you're like me, someone who has been playing since release, has been deeply involved in the small competitive community for many years. You could even be a content creator that has built their entire infrastructure on this game. If it dies you're income line just dropped dead.
If you expect someone to just drop DBD if they don't like the path it is going down or take issue with certain aspects, you're willfully ignoring these investments players have made. I urge you to stop this line of reasoning, as it is utterly and entirely unrealistic.
EDIT: I edited a sentence that made my point unclear.
I mean I dont regret the fun times I had in the game, but that doesnt mean that I should keep playing a game that is getting consistently less fun with every patch so why should I keep playing while the game is in such a horrible state.

This logic is massively flawed considering the fact that killer players are also guilty of raging and disconnecting.
It's not the fault of every survivor player that Hex: Ruin got changed. The decision to change Ruin will have been based upon constructive player feedback and the developer's statistics. I'm fairly confident in saying that the developer's do not make major balance changes based upon a minor number of "rage" threads.
Their logic was still flawed they basically looked at how often was used and decided that it being popular meant it was op and that it was punishing to newer survivors, even though ask anyone who uses ruin, its the only thing that makes most killers playable not op, and on the killers that dont need it people wont use it since from personal experience the perk is annoying as hell to use, most totems spots are god awful and the perk gets very consistently cleansed within the first 3 minutes maybe enough time to end 1 chase, maybe 2 if your playing a top tier killer or against a sand bag of a survivor. The change is doubly insulting since new ruin contradicts itself, being a perk meant for middle to late game while being a hex perk which usually die in the early game. The timing of the change was also rather poor, gen speed has been a pretty divisive topic in the community for awhile now and them making this change has given most people the impression that the devs have picked a side on that debate only exacerbating many's frustration, this also coming off the heels of almost nothing but killer nerfs for the last couple patches really didnt help either.

Ruining other people's game experience by playing in a toxic manner is not an effective nor productive way to protest a change you dislike.
While, no, it isn't bannable, it detracts from the fun of the game for survivor's who were not the ones who made the Hex: Ruin changes.
If you want an aspect of the game changed, you should post a reasoned thread in the relevant section of the forums rather than facecamp people who've done absolutely nothing.
For the devs to ignore sure
