  • I love playing killer but I just CANNOT play it for more than a couple sessions before switching back to survivor because it’s just so DRAINING on ps4. Every single time I play killer, I’m matched with toxic squads well above my 16 rank and every single time they spam notifications specifically to get on my nerves.

Just run Calm Spirit? EZ fix kappa

Did you not read the original post?

  • It’s so obvious when they suicide to spite someone and to that I say they’re small cowards with jello for backbones. I guess maybe the one exception is if your team didn’t even bother trying to save you, might as well go to the next game and hope someone makes an effort.

Although sometimes life happens and it’s better to die on the hook than to dc.

  • The Face Killers! Ghost and Leather!

I love Ghostface but at the same time when I’m playing survivor and it’s Ghostface, I die a little inside especially when it’s Ghostface for the 5th time in a row. I think a HUGE problem with him is you’ll be looking right at him and you still get exposed? Feels very frustrating.

Leatherface needs a rework that buffs him but nerfs his ability to camp. I don’t dc because my mama didn’t raise no coward but seeing a Leatherface in blackface is a sure sign of No Fun Allowed - same with the Iridescent Huntress.

  • Why not both?

That said, I do think maps play a part in what’s going on - like there’s a reason survivors love Haddonfield and corn maps -_-

Maps should be reworked to not benefit survivors so much. In turn, survivors should get hooks spaced out more so it would be more fair to them.

  • I got it using bond, iron will, and detective’s hunch! I think maybe the Tapp made Myers mad because he was gone a long time and ended up camping him. Either that or he took pity on me when he grabbed me twice.

  • Well that sounds pretty Scrougey :( Not even the firecrackers WHICH HMMM SEEM TO FIT NICELY WITH SURVIVOR CHALLENGES. Guess they really want people to pay to skip levels even if it means taking out the holiday spirit.

    How disappointing.

DS needs a huge tell, it should let you know if the survivor has ds instead of having to guess and pray for no ds when there is a obsession.

Mulan is a great movie and I love the soundtrack and especially the characters.

Honestly though, out of the 90's Disney films Tarzan has my favorite soundtrack because Phil Collins is fantastic.

Hunchback of Notre Dame is my favorite soundtrack, followed by Beauty and the Beast. Masterpieces both. Also listen to the musical for Hunchback, it’s a crying shame it never made it to Broadway.

  • Overrated Survivor Perk: Adrenaline. I don’t know, I feel like it’s overkill and kind of toxic for killers most of the time and very rarely comes in clutch.

Underrated Survivor Perks: Lightweight, Plunderers, Empathy, Better Together, Stake Out, Poised, Kindred, Distortion, Botany

Overrated Killer Perks: Ruin - it goes down too early, very rng based, and good survivors just ignore it...honestly it’s scaredy-cat survivors who give it so much power. Discordance too - survivors tend to catch on you have it and it becomes null and void a lot faster than Surveillance.

Underrated Killer Perks: I’m All Ears, Lightborn, Brutal Strength, Bloodhound

  • Name: Kristen

Design: a woman in her mid-late 20s, lower half kind of shapely (one leg is noticeably more skinny and less toned than the other,) larger upper half with a bit of a tummy, short and unruly dark almost black hair, glasses, no makeup, Irish pug nose, likes to dress comfortably in leggings, oversized sweatshirts, flannel, and t shirts - bit of a hodgepodge in style but generally cute clothes that convey a love for Disney, women, and punching bigots.

    Perks:

Cerebral Play: Being physically disabled urged you to sharpen your mind with books and learning like a sword with a whetstone. You walk 20% slower, run 60% slower, skill checks are 75% bigger and slowed down by 3/4/5%, great skill checks are 55/65/75% bigger (or whatever the numbers are to where tier 3 would mean a 50% chance to hit a great.) Running makes you exhausted. Exhaustion recovers 25% slower.

Endure Pain: A lifetime experience has made you no stranger to pain. You bleed less frequently and your blood trails are less discernible and disappear more quickly by 2/3/4 seconds. Grunts of pain can be heard 8 meters less by the killer.

Fairest One of All: Life is unfair, but it doesn’t have to be. Your strong belief in justice grants you the ability to use your secondary ability to either stun the killer chasing you or another survivor who was unhooked within 30 seconds for 5 seconds OR use your secondary ability to make yourself or another survivor UNDETECTABLE from other survivors who might wish harm for the rest of the match. One time use. Obsession perk. Using this perk on others grants you a 100% boost to Altruism.

  • I don’t dodge (unless I’m spent and mentally exhausted and my spidey sense is telling me to get out or real life stuff) UNLESS:

    1. The survivors have more than 2 toolboxes. 2 is my limit. 3 or 4 and I’m walking out the door.
    2. And most importantly, I get the hell out of dodge as BOTH killer and survivor when I see a survivor whose name implies dbd smurf (it should be noted I play on ps4 - so either the player made a new account or is extremely dedicated enough to change names.) or wears toxicity like a badge of honor. Yeah no, I want to play a GAME not a bully/sandbag simulator where I’m the victim.

And I think that’s totally fair and reasonable.

  • I play both sides and I genuinely enjoy playing killer but dear lord, there is a reason I play survivor a little more and that is the fact that swf make killer stressful af AND survivor is weirdly the role you play to unwind and NOT be stressed. Like the only time you’re mildly stressed as survivor is when killers play dirty or OTHER survivors ruin the experience (which might lead the former to take it out on you in a vicious cycle.)

Killer should be the role you play when you don’t want to be stressed and survivor the challenge and reward for making it out alive.

  • I’m going to assume this was inspired by my post.

The only change ds MIGHT need is to either deactivate or instantly take off 10/20/30 (per tier) seconds if the killer downs someone else. I personally think that genuine tunneling needs to be punished more and in some ways some parts of ds should be baked into the game or buffed. That being said, swf who sweat would try to find a way to abuse it so we need to find a way that gives solos more power without adding to the swf arsenal.

I think bt is fine for the most part except when swf abuse it but that’s a swf issue not a bt issue - it’s vital against campers. So again, I think in some ways it should naturally be baked into the game to punish bad behavior.

But tbh yes, Iridescent heads (particularly with belts) DOES need a nerf or a huge tell for survivors because it’s genuinely the swf equivalent to killers - and like 99.9% of the time it’s used punitively on other survivors after a particularly nasty swf match and those survivors turn into punching bags that get tunneled to death, often literally. And no, seeing someone immediately go down does NOT count and is totally unfair to the first survivor because it’s definitely going to be a short and unrewarding waste of time for them.

Iri heads and Swf power imbalance both need a looksie :)

  • @madsweeney84 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/113308/iridescent-head-either-needs-a-nerf-or-a-huge-tell

That's to be expected. Noob survivor sees issue with how hard it is and wants change. Like the other recent changes. Perhaps stick to checkers or some other boardgame and or L2P.

    1. not a noob - I’ve reached purple ranks
    2. I also play both sides (and I tend to agree that survivors either have too much power or killers not enough)
    3. I am not the toxic survivor droid you’re looking for
    4. Checkers and other board games are not the insult you’re looking for either since they’re a centuries old method to learning and mastering strategy, particularly battle strategy.

    @LOA said:

How many Huntresses you running into?? I mean damn, I hardly see her anymore and who cares if she has Iri. Just try your best and take the loss if you must. People keep thinking they can survive every match.

No, reasonable people do not expect to survive every match. Heck, I even advocate that surviving SHOULD be difficult and worthwhile for survivors. However, a fair match is something that should be expected. Any other instant down has a tell AND the killer must work for it and be punished for their mistakes. Iridescent Huntress has neither of these things, and the burden falls on the (first) survivors in an unfair way. It’s not scary like facing Scratched Mirror, it’s demoralizing and punitive especially after a rather long queue time - and it’s not fun to be made into a punching bag.

  • “If someone goes down right away, that means there’s an Iridescent Head on the table”

Well, pardon my French, but no shiitake mushrooms Sherlock.

That literally does not help the survivor who goes down first. They could even be hit from far away, with no way to fight it.

So now you’re down and on a hook maybe if you weren’t slugged, and good luck getting the other survivors to rescue you BECAUSE they know what’s at stake and also the Huntress is always watching.

Iridescent Huntress (especially with a belt) is a build used by toxic people venting their frustrations on others.

  • @Fibijean said:

It's like NOED. You should always assume a Huntress has Iri Heads and dodge hatchets accordingly until proven otherwise. The "tell" is if she's super keen on throwing a hatchet even in situations where a melee hit would be a better play, or if she appears to run out of hatchets after one (or at max, three) missed throws.

It’s nothing like noed though because noed gives you time and counterplay to actually counter it. You have an entire match to make sure you and the other survivors found all 5 totems, and if you didn’t...it sucks but that’s how the cookie crumbles. Iri has no counterplay before it strikes and once you do get the information, it’s too late because they always play scummy.

  • I main Jane - I have all (Yui’s excluded) perks on her, p3ed her, and have a whole wardrobe for her. I like making cute outfits. I also like how she isn’t a skinny little high schooler like all the other ladies.

I SAY Nancy is my other main but I haven’t had time to p3 her. Ironically, Ash is at p1 first but because I think it’s canon he should be bloody. Yui’s backstory is really cool so I might add her too. Ultimately though at the end of the day, I’m a Jane main first and foremost.

  • I dislike the pressure of “the more expensive gift the better” - it makes me really anxious as I have a very limited budget. I also dislike losing that sense of joy and wonder on Christmas I had as a kid...now it’s just another day battling depression.

I love making other people happy and opening presents, and having a Christmas tree is nice too.

  • I do think the cosmetics are too expensive. I also think I would be much more willing to spend money on cosmetics if they were 2-4 bucks an outfit. $10 really puts a damper on my wallet and I really have to consider if I love that outfit enough to get it.

And dear lord, the people defending the vampirism that is capitalism really need to wake up and smell the manure. Capitalism is a dystopian hellscape that is literally destroying the planet, ruining the lives of common people, and allowing the wealthy to hoard their wealth like dragons and use it as a shield against justice and the law when they do something heinous. Moreover, under capitalism, you are not a customer with agency - you’re not even human...you’re a minnow, a dolphin, a whale being purposely and maliciously manipulated to hand over your money and consume, ask no questions until the next thing comes along and the process repeats. “Capitalism inspires innovation” is a lie. The only innovation it inspires is how to exploit people and the earth, make them pay more for less, and no matter what: how to make the most money the fastest.

Dude, you get it. Now that I play more survivor than killer, I want survivors nerfed even more. It's way too easy to escape, even playing solo and running a half-strength build so I can loot chests. I shoot up to high purple/red ranks with almost no effort on survivor, and I still don't even know how to loop or do anything but move to the right spots to get gens done/unhooks/totems. I have a full skillset on killer and depending on my luck, I either end up hardstuck in purple or sweating my ass off to get into low reds by reset. I feel like in my mind I'm a much better killer than survivor, but the rankings don't lie. So I can either assume I'm way off on my skills in my head, or survivor is WAY easier than killer. Make me scared to play survivor again devs :P

Exactly! I play both sides and survivors really do have too much power (at least in comparison to killer.) People often go “killer main!” when I advocate for more power for killers and it’s like no...I play both sides and I feel like I have a clearer understanding of what’s going on because I do, and killers are just so unnecessarily stressful.

I don’t feel like my skill difference between killer and survivor is all that different, and yet I rise much more quickly through the ranks as survivor.

Also let’s be honest - the fact that we can see our cool fancy outfits as survivor while playing killer leaves us only our weapon to admire in game should mean survivor should be more difficult than killer :P

  • @Peanits said:

He doesn't like sweaters. There's no way he can fit them over that big noggin of his.

Well it’s a good thing that according to the lore, the Entity tortures the Killers. ;)

A Demogorgon with a cute ugly sweater and Christmas lights would be so ADORABLE.

  • Have my upvote @SpookyJeff

Killers should NOT be the stressful role, I firmly believe that. This game is inspired by horror movies and literally the only killer I can think of who was mildly stressed out was poor Leatherface who just wanted to protect his home from invaders and provide for his family! Every other killer though is having a blast because they’re well aware they have the power and control. It’s the survivors who are stressed out and crapping their pants and it’s ONLY through team work, determination, willpower, and crafty thinking that any survivors STAY alive.

    That’s how it should be.

But instead playing killer in dbd is incredibly stressful. You NEED to have a prepared load out and any mistakes you make can cost you the game. This is not even going into the horrendously unfair pip system for killer THAT IS ENTIRELY IN SURVIVOR HANDS. One dc or one suicide and good luck trying to please the Entity.

You can literally play survivor with no perks at all, let alone any combination of perks, and you can STILL survive (and quite easily get adept). The ONLY mildly stressful thing about survivor is if you have the unfortunate luck to be hooked in the beginning, and you risk leaving the match with less than 5000 bp, or worse yet - OTHER survivors try to ruin the experience.

It says something when I choose to play survivor because it’s genuinely less stressful than killer. I want to be scared as survivor. I want to earn my survival - surviving the trial is quite literally a bonus for survivors - it truly does not matter if you live or die beyond your personal goals. Killers aren’t afforded that luxury by the game.

  • Calm Spirit is a niche perk that completely nullifies the Doctor.

No Mither SHOULD leave NO DROPS OF BLOOD. It makes way more sense than the perk making the crows quiet also countering the Doctor.

  • @The_Second_Coming said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/112666/will-you-please-stop-killing-yourselves-on-the-hook-for-five-minutes

As annoying as it can be, there's nothing toxic about suiciding on hook.

If I get hooked and I look and don't see a single one of the *other three* survivors on a gen and they are are urblend evading around, I dip. I give in to the entity.

I disagree. You’re intentionally skipping out of the game. Yeah, it sucks BALONEY to be left stranded, but I still play until the Entity naturally claims my soul. And yes, I would say it is toxic when you can either see someone running towards you or they’re right there in front of you.

  • I am at level 35, but I was in the hospital for 2 weeks (and before that I had 2 other surgeries) - and it’s only now really that I’m starting to play regularly again. I still have to complete level 2 and get through level 3’s epilogue. My logic is to go back to level 2 on either some downtime or if it gets down to the wire and hopefully earn some easier rift credits before it ends.

  • I’m not a farmer, I’m a COOL farmer /mean girls quote. Also Stardew Valley is an awesome game.

Jokes aside, yes, I am a very empathetic person by nature and tend to be altruistic. I would gladly sacrifice myself if it meant someone else could live. BT, like DS, is a staple in my kit and I feel naked and bad without it - the one time I don’t bring borrowed is the time I or others get camped and tunneled to the ground. I pack wglf because yeah, you know what? It’s nice getting those sweet double bps when you’re trying to level your characters. I really like what they have done with Kindred (which was ALWAYS handy dandy, just mighty infuriating if you pack it and nobody came at all) and will gladly use it in place of wglf when I’m not trying to get bp fast.

Anyways, I always come into the game with good intentions. I want the survivor to get back in and have fun. I want to save them from a one way ticket back to the lobby. I want them to know someone won’t abandon them. I want to have a good game and to me, a good game is when everyone else or even just the poor dear hooked in the endgame (or even the other last survivor) can get out even if I can’t. And I’m anxious as all hell that the survivor in question might end up being toxic and give up, screwing the rest of us over. And like I said, it’s nice getting fat stacks of blood money for good deeds.

I honestly don’t care about surviving. It’s a nice bonus but to me, I feel rewarded when I can save other people. The only time I care is if it’s for a ritual or challenge.

Also it really REALLY sucks to lose a stage when it was perfectly possible to be saved and I know how demoralizing that is, so I’m gonna get you out no matter the cost. Just don’t give up in my face or I wish legos upon your naked feet.

  • I think people shouldn’t put such heavy stock into what streamers say and form their own opinions and thoughts first. There’s such a creepy undercurrent of people just repeating and following what streamers say like mindless sheep and following what they do like some weird cult. Like seriously, Otz or Tru3 says something and then mysteriously everyone else starts repeating it. Or like in Otz’s case, he just smiles and laughs and people go “uwu marry me Otzichan uwu!”

These are just regular people playing in front of a screen, they don’t have some magical authority because they play to an audience and they might be good at the game.

  • @ZtarShot said:

Every survivor should have different powers or items, exclusive to them. Like Jake's toolbox or Dweet's locker key. (Could turn that into an actual idea)

Cool. It would be cooler if you made your own topic though and didn’t try to derail mine :(

  • I was playing my Christmas Nancy last night when a lobby of 2 Fengs and a Nancy popped up, and my Nancy is your friendly neighborhood team player with Botany, Better Together, Self Care, and Kindred.

I always liked Kindred but haven’t played it since the rework and I was pleasantly surprised! I immediately put it on my main Jane and have been having lots of fun :) It’s so good as a solo player AND now there is genuine use for it beyond hoping and praying your team will come save you and you start to see red when you had Kindred and nobody still came.

  • I got Jane’s and Nancy’s! Right now I have Jane in her sweater with ripped jeans and ponytail bow - she looks so cozy and ready to go for Christmas parties!

I wish I had enough shards or cells to get the Susie sweater because that is really cute but I must wait because I can’t afford to spend money on a character I like aesthetically but don’t really have the time to play as.

  • On one hand, it feels like they massacred my boy. Okay, not really, but the numbers change was really drastic. And a part of me just feels like “well just don’t let the ropes stack!” and even more so, “you made THESE changes but you didn’t bother to make his once beautiful blocks useful again???”

On the other hand...yes, something had to be done. It was a lot of much. And to the point where you were GUARANTEED to have a runaway success barring no derankers or surprise keys. There were so many times I had to farm it was so easy, or purposely allow them to get a few gens to make it more interesting. So yeah, at the end of the day it HAD to be addressed.

BUT I do wish that toolboxes and repair speed buffs were also whacked with the nerf hammer AND that they would make Freddy’s and every other killer have genuinely universally useful add ons.

  • @Hoodied said:

Some of us want stuff like this, but it would require devs to completely rework outfits

"I know not a lot of people care about Adam (for reasons they wont admit), but there are a few of us that DO."

Are you calling people racists? Because that just doesn't add up considering Claudette is one of the most popular survivors. People just don't care about Adam because the very thing you are complaining about right now, bad cosmetics plain and simple.

Adam having rather plain cosmetics and that being a reason people aren’t inspired to use him is true too, but let’s not pretend people use Claudette because they’re definitely not racist...unfortunately, it seems like an ugly amount of players are precisely that (or ableist) in regards to her. :/

  • It really is unfortunate (and before certain people get huffy, I think you are right in regards to there being a factor into why he hasn’t received as much love and attention :/ Not that it’s intentional but that kind of thing is unfortunately baked into our society :()

I hope he gets more things!

  • I can’t wait for Jane to get her sweater! I love it when she gets stuff because she’s so fun to make outfits for.

  • First person point of view when working on generators, and limited camera scope when in a chase would probably make the game scarier without annoying survivors too much.

While I agree that people eventually adapt - Scream and the Ring scared the living heck out of me as a kid but now I still admire them (The opening of Scream is a modern day masterpiece that outshines the Psycho shower scene - fight me), I’m just used to them - it doesn’t excuse how non threatening it feels to play as survivor. I fully believe killer SHOULD be the role you play when you want to destress and somehow it’s quite the opposite. The length and number of loops contributes to this - good survivors turn a horror movie chase into Benny Hill and it just completely neuters the feeling of being a killer.

I genuinely believe there has to be a way to both incorporate and legitimize looping and stealth without it being at the expense of the killer’s dignity. You know - turn chases into Helen Shivers jumping out the window vs a scene from Scary Movie or that other spoof.

  • @MysticAdvisor said:

Awww by why can’t I try to 4K with my legion? :(

I sensed some kind of bias when op complained about survivors quitting because of a hidden offering while killers can dodge things which can be seen while in the lobby.

Imho no one should be able to see offerings from the other player.

Um there wasn’t? Dude, I play survivor. And killer. I play both. I probably play survivor a bit more because it’s just way less stressful. You’re the biased one :(

But tbh, you know what? Survivors dcing because “Wah mori” hurts both sides. It sucks for the killer who may be toxic but may also want to have fun and see some cool animations. And it REALLY sucks for the survivor who was mature enough to stay and suck it up and be stuck in a match with sore loser teammates and a potentially toxic killer.

So please don’t pretend that this is some kind of killer main crusade out to ruin survivors’ Christmas.

Like I said, the titles and ideas might be lame but I think my initial 3 reasons for proposing more killer secret offerings is worthwhile.

  • I like watching Monto (although I always cut before the credits because that song is a little cringey) because he has fun builds and is funny/has fun without being mean spirited.

There is a huge difference between rising to a challenge and roadblocking your progress. People do not mind a challenge - that’s why Bloodborne and Dark Souls is so popular. What people DON’T like is when something is so difficult, it either requires the blessing of RNGesus or so much time, stress, and energy that it literally sucks the fun right out of it. This is why people HATE the Wolfenstein Mein Leben trophy.

These so called challenges after the first level are categorically part of the latter. It’s a blatant swipe at your wallet.

  • Thank you everybody (@KillermainBTWm8 , @Fibijean , @GrootDude , @NeonAlien , and @Gay Myers (Luzi) ) once again for your kind and thoughtful words. I’m honestly still in a state of shock. It doesn’t even feel real. I think she must have resented me for a long time, and that she was projecting. She sent a message saying our friendship was over if I didn’t immediately apologize (this is after she told me to F off, f myself, and attacked and mocked me) and say she was a really good friend. It broke my heart (and still does) but I told her that even though I didn’t want to lose my best friend, I refused to be treated like that. Never did I dream she would use such vile and manipulative behavior on me. When she started sending text after text berating me, I knew that I had to block and erase her. And it sucks. It reminds me of that Bojack Horseman quote of red flags just showing up as flags when you wear rose colored glasses :/

Thanks for all help and words of comfort, guys. I really appreciate it.
