  • Probably at least a year and a half. But who knows. Not frequently anyway.

  • As posted before. An exorbitant amount of safe pallets, walls you often have to break, hooks that are often times difficult to place survivors on.

I've probably played Gideon as killer about 20 times since the rework. I've maybe 4k'd twice. I've had multiple games where I haven't even gotten a hook as a killer. Most games where I don't even up with 4 bbq stacks.

The map is an absolute chore and I'm at the point where I'm just going to start going AFK in corner. I'm not a "this guy/team needs to get fired" guy, but if I was, well then anyone on the map design team and anyone that approved this should probably be looking for a new job. They sufficiently failed at this aspect of their job to the point where I'd have a hard time believing they're competent at anything.

It's too bad, because I really enjoyed meat plant games prior to the rework as both a killer and survivor.

  • No. I've had people insist that they've had this happen to them, but I'm not inclined to believe them.

Freddy's lunge is fine. It's all in your head. Hey remember that scene in the first movie with him in the alley with Nancy? Me too like I said it's fine...

It was Tina, but good point lol.

  • If killers can see survivors names, then survivors should absolutely be able to see the killer's name.

  • Great job BHVR! No snark either. Just a hearty congratulations on the great decision.

  • Lol. Whenever someone messages me salt, I just respond with, "oh sorry. I wanted to win too".

I think survivors think that we're just bots maybe.

I mean, I'm usually not going to tunnel or slug at 5 gens. But if there are 4 survivors left and 2 or less gens, yeah I'm going to tunnel, camp, slug or do whatever I need to make my chances of winning go up. Unless, I'm just in a super chill mode.

I had someone complain that I slugged and camped the body of someone to avoid DS. This was with all five gens done. Like why would I go out of my way to eat the DS and have three survivors leave. They gave me a 4k but that's my fault. Blah blah blah you suck.

    Classic survivor entitlement.

  • Hard to quantify, but almost every time I play huntress they slug at 5 gens. Really annoying. But its generally an effective strat so I know why they do it. But it makes for terrible play from a survivor perspective. I'd rather get hard tunneled out of the game.

  • 5 is already the amount gens is the number to be able to power an exit gate.

I wish. I've gone against a ton of huntresses this year. Lots of good ones too.

They said they had a possible concept with no confirmed date.

Kinda like how Huntress is confirmed to be getting a change with no confirmed date.

Don't forget about that early game mechanic and key rework. Coming any day now...

  • Lol, Jason gets bullied in his own game. Who cares what tier he would be in this one.

There is no "map cycle". It is purely random except when offerings are used.

Yep. They really should have an algorithm that limits being sent to a map you just played. Seems like it wouldn't be hard to do.

  • @Harold_Shipman said:

So every killer who's made it out the yellow ranks knows that 80 seconds per gen is not very long at all. if you get unlucky or make a single mistake, you can be down to 2 gens with only 1 hook, and depending on the gen spread, this is pretty much gg for low mobility killers.

Every survivor also knows how frustrating and challenging it is if a single survivor is just tunnelled straight out of the game, and a bad start can give you no hope of recovery, no matter how well you play. One bad team mate can bring the whole thing down; pretty frustrating for solo queue.

How about a mechanic that adapts the speed of gen repairs based on the state of play. For example, speeds would start slower than they are currently, but if the killer starts smashing through hooks when players get off to a shaky start, repair speeds increase, levelling off again when they begin to catch up. Somebody gets tunnelled out of the game? A large boost to repair speeds can compensate for this and still give the remaining survivors a fighting chance. Similarly, if survivors start smashing through generators and 3 pop during the first chase, the remaining 2 generators take much much longer to repair. The killer manages to pick up the pace, and gathers a few more hooks, it begins to speed up again and eventually level out.

Granted, this may be seen as rewarding failure, so it would require a lot of thought and planning to work well, and work around potential exploits (such as 99% 5 gens and popping them all at once) but executed well it would shift the more unpopular parts of the meta away to make it, hopefully, just more fun.

I've been saying this for years. Big map, slow down the gens a bit. No survivors on a hook. Slow down the gens a bit. 2 survivors dead. Speed up the remaining gens quite a bit. Of course the issue is that it would be pretty hard to balance, but you could always make adjustments if it gets to be too one-sided.

  • Yeah. Most the autohaven maps are relatively hard. I hate Gas Heaven. Maybe my least favorite map besides updated game.

No one will EVER leave you slugged with no mither.

Why would you even suggest that?

Not true. If you tank a hit and they're carrying a survivor to a hook, they're probably not going to drop that survivor. I've tanked and crawled pretty far away and gotten myself up.

  • Nothing specific but I've had a couple people send audio hate mail on PSN. Always has me rolling.

I am just tired of hard tunneling and camping then killers saying let's nerf dead hard because there's no counter it made me mad I am tired of anything we have that I enjoy they take or want outta the game cause it's quote not fair that there's no counter peace and your always nice

Dead hard entices killers to tunnel you. If I chase a survivor for 30 seconds and get a hit and then chase them for another 30 seconds and they dead hard, I have two options.

Option 1: leave the chase I've already committed a decent chunk of time to and let this guy heal or just pop back on a gen and get his exhaustion back. In doing this I have gained no progress as a killer toward winning the game.

Option 2: continute the chase until you are downed wasting more time while other are able to complete gens. With this option, I at least get one hook state.

Interestingly enough both of these options suck. Now, lets add in the fact that you're probably not the only one running dead hard. See where this may be unbalanced? Even if a killer evenly hits and hooks everyone, dead hard is basically extending chases 12 times. In a game where solo gens take 90 seconds. That's a pretty big issue.

And to the original post, killer perks have been nerfed and really killer perks typically aren't as strong as survivor perks either.

By stomping Solo queue potatos, a Solo queue team with 1 potato is already at a huge disadvantage and rarely that game ends well for Survivors, best scenario the Killer gets "only" 2K. Also is not that hard to black pip as a Killer.

Ok. So it's my fault I have one good match where I 2 pip because the survivors suck and therefore I deserve 7 or 8 matches where I get my ass beat or have to scrape and crawl just to get 4 bbq stacks? K.

And when Killers are bad, they obviously lose. And some Killers in Red Ranks are horrible.

Ok, then how do they stay in red ranks? And i say this as a purple rank killer that gets put in and stays in red rank hell.

  • I doubt it willl happen for XBox and PS4 ever. But I'm a pessimist. I'd love to be wrong.

  • @Mysterynovus said:

Bit of a personal tangent here. Do you have a friend in your group who gets tilted easily and turns into such a sore loser, bogging down the experience for you? Last night, I had that friend start getting pissy at losing two matches and spouting dumb stuff like "Killers are OP, this game is bullshit, I can't even fix one gen". He's a complete newbie to the game (less than 20 hours), so I understand him not fully grasping how the game works, but me and my BF practically coach him throughout the match. It really reached a head in our last match against Myers when he gave up on his first down. It's those sort of things that upset me more than anything in this game.

Anyway, how do you handle stuff like that? What do you say to someone?

It's usually me. Well honestly we all are sore losers, but I'd say I'm probably the sorest of losers. That said we just stopped playing with each other. Partly because I can be a dick, partly because I would get annoyed hearing "ugh I'm dying on my first hook". Yeah, I guess you should take some aggro once in a while.

But to be fair, I can be an #########.

But yeah, have that person take some edible marijuana. That will help.

  • @FattiePoobum said:

    It’s not every game

but l would say it has increased

but so has the efficiency at doing gens

    so .............

Yep. If I'm in a situation where I have 2 hooks and there is 1 gen left (not uncommon by the way), what am I supposed to do but camp and tunnel? They're probably all going to get out anyway, but I might as well get some hook trades and points.

  • Gen speeds are too fast even with regression perks. This isn't the survivor's fault. Hell, when I play survivor, I pound out gens too (unless I have some jank challenge).

There are lots of balance issues in the game. Some favor survivors. Some favor killers. But the reality is, the first person can take the first chase usually for quite some time. If survivors stick to gens, it's not uncommon for two to pop before the first down. Sometimes 3 will pop.

The survivors have completed 60% od their objective before the killer has completed 8%. That's an issue. Now things can snowball, but realistically they usually don't.

  • I'm on the "dead hard is busted" train. Many people disagree. For us much hate as DS gets, DH always slips under the radar.

I think original Mettle is a weaker perk than DH.

  • @Nos37 said:

If the game knows which killer is being used before the match even starts, then why are maps being generated with the exit gates three tiles apart on the same half of the map when the killer is Billy and Nurse?

Have you considered having gates spawn further apart for mobile killers, and closer together for slower killers who lack mobility from their power?

Fair point, but also the reverse should be true too. Slow M1 killers probably shouldn't have to play on gigantic maps either.

Thing is, when games release new content, many people who play it happen to be full time working adults who tend to spend their money on the game. Most gaming companies are transparent with their customers. They let them know about upcoming content and when to expect it. They inform their customers if there are issues in getting things released on time so that they can prepare for that.

The reason that transparency is so important, is so that the player base isn't left floating around, digging for scraps on information so that they have a rough idea of how to prepare for a release. I have seen multiple people on different platforms comment that they took time off work in order to play the new content. Working gamers do this all the time in anticipation of new content. For BHVR to lead these people on, and then at the last minute, get a fog whisperer to announce the delay, is a huge insult to those of the community who devote their time and money to the game.

They stated themselves that PTB>Live timescale was moved from 2>3 weeks, that timescale ends today. It makes sense for people to plan ahead for that release if BHVR themselves have given us no further information than "coming soon", which frankly, could very well mean the 23rd. Anybody who says "they didn't give you a date, stop acting so entitled" is simply deluded and not seeing what the real issue is. A lack of transparency causes confusion and distrust towards the developers. It's as simple as that.

This. I took time off of work. Now I have to ask for time off next week. If the patcg even gets released. Definitely not the end of the world, but don't condition your clients to expect patches to be ready 3 weeks after the PTB and than have a fog whisperer break the news about the patch not coming out when expected and then when people are annoyed, don't have some mod just say "well we never gave a release date".

    That's just disingenuous.

Also, to the point that someone made that we're acting entitled. Nah, at this point between the cosmetics, DLC, and game pass- this is basically a subscription at this point. We didn't just buy one finished game. The devs absolutely need to work harder at retaining their business. Clearly communicating with the community would be a good way to improve the relationship and retain clients.

  • I've never understood the rule either. That said many forums do it.

I'm Not using it , i know it can be used , EVERYONE CAN USE IT on pc , so in fact its not cheating , thats why crossplay shouldnt exist , its BHVR who created an unfair advantage for console players .

I'm also bored on survivor side. But I'm unfortunately more frustrated about teammates than anything.

Also, I'm playing exclusively Plague lately, since... I don't know why, but now everybody now seem to be cleansing often, giving me power for days. So it's being fun... and it's a different challenge for the survivors. Sometimes they dominate me, especially when they don't cleanse and my fountains are in Narnia, but sometimes I can make pressure for days.

Exactly, besides infectious nurse and stridor spirit, no killer feels unfair to go against. Yes, there are other killers that i don't love to go against, but if I'm having bad games as survivor it's usually me being annoyed at myself for looping bad or teammates that let me go into phase 2 before unhooking or stealth boys that really don't do much of anything.

  • For the record. I'm devotion 21. I play a lot. Not saying I'm great at either side. Obviously I'm not a great killer. Would be nice to play some games where you can at least hook a survivor more than once.

Oh well. Just venting I guess, but I really have had some unjoyable killer games over the last month.

Do you use NOED? That can artificially inflate kills and boost you through ranks until about purple.

    No.

Why I am in red ranks is the question of my life.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but if you got zero hook, you should depip and getting back to purple, no?

No. I mean yeah if you're rank 4 with no pip marks then yes. But the issue is it's easy to rank up to red and stay in red because it's so easy to black pip and 2 pip. You never 2 depip. Even though if you get 0 hooks in a game you probably should. This last game I just finished, I finally got my first hook just before the last gen popped. 2 games and 9.9 generators popped before I got a single hook. Fuuuunnnn.

  • What now?

  • Your friends are kind of dumb. Do they also think the sun is cold? Do they think the Detroit Lions are a successful NFL team? What other scorching hot takes do they have?

I mean, the same argument could be used about tunneling. It's quick and efficient and honestly usually the wisest strategy.

But survivors piss and moan about being tunneled like it's not a legit gameplay tactic that's right in the game and not cheating, so obviously it's not bad, then?

And to a lesser extent camping. If it draws multiple survivors off gens then the strat worked. If they power through gens than it didn't. It's not a well-liked strategy, but it is one nonetheless.

  • I feel this way as killer. I'm probably honestly a purple rank killer. Too easy to black pip on a bad game and too easy to 2 pip on a 4k. So even if I have a stretch like the other day where I got curb stomped 5 games in a row, I didn't even drop to rank 3.

I haven't resorted to it yet, but I don't blame people at all for depipping.

    1) Swamp is a realm, not a map. There's 2 of em, and they're both equally as awful.

    2) Hawkins, Midwich, Ormond, and Lery's all have very unsafe pallets (for the most part, with a couple of god ones scattered about) that must be broken. Most of them can be ignored and easily played around.

    3) Dead Dawg Saloon.

    4) Shelter Woods.

    5) Wretched Shop.

    6) Both Yamaoka Estate maps also have, for the most part, unsafe pallets, and it's their size that's the issue.

So no, not 1 map. Try at least 10. Throwing pallets early on the majority of these maps will lead to a swift demise. Swamp is just the biggest offender.

Lol. Even most swamp maps have at least 12 pallets. Some very safe pallets as well. AutoHaven is bad with pallets? First I've heard that. Hawkins has a ton of pallets. Not all safe but plenty enough to just drop and create distance. You can definitely drop pallets early and often. Even if you used every pallet, at least 3 gens are popping before you get hooked. And there are still plenty of jungle gyms, t walls, and building loops to use too. Conserving pallets is a fool's game.

  • Aww man. 1 map out of 30+. You got me.

  • Lol. For real though. Why even conserve pallets? Throw them early amd often.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

I don't think it was buffed enough.

I want it to effect cages but also be easier to get stacks in general.

As killer I can get 4 stacks of bbq easily by playing normal.

As survivor I have to compete with teammates and almost throw to get stacks. I'd prefer it to take 5 stacks of 20% and you get a stack for each gen completed. Or totem cleansed. That way all survivors can benefit, not have to compete for it, and get stacks by playing normally.

You should get a stack for:

Protection hits (already in the game)

Safe unhooks (already in the game)

Pallet and flashlight saves (already in the game)

Actions that improve a healing slate such as picking up a slugged survivor or healing an injured survivor (not in the game)

I also think you should get protection stacks for protecting healthy survivors as well.

For the life of me, I have no clue why they made the emphasis on speeding up picking up slugs but not giving out a stack for it. Really silly.

  • @BeardedScrub said:

For this game to be "balanced" most killer mains are asking to be able to kill 4 survivors most matches...

Even if you get 4 kills HALF of your matches and 2 kills your other matches, that averages out to 3 kills per match. That means 3 out of every 4 survivors won't make it!!!

In what world is that "balanced"?

In solo q, I don't know if our squad makes it out alive even 10% of the time. And in a full squad we maybe make it out 20% of the time.

When you get a killer with certain perks and add-ons, like Freddy, Spirit, even the Hag with her traps, these killers can be virtually impossible to beat.

Then we have killer mains on here whining all day because they are getting t-bagged...

If you aren't getting 2 to 4 kills every match (meaning the game is balanced towards killer) then you absolutely suck.

Of course we should nerf DS, and if we keep the game in the state it's in, n I'm okay, but please, if you are going to nerf anything survivor, nerf the traps of the Hag, nerf Freddy or the Spirit.

Yes we have a problem with q times. That's the only reason why they cater so much to killers. They have to or the game won't survive so I'm okay with it. But killers: a successful match isn't 4k or bust, and again, if you aren't getting 2k or more in most matches, you suck, even my friend who's new to the game can play underpowered killers and get 2 kills each match

I don't expect 4ks. But real talk 5 games. No kills. Only 1 game where I got all 4 bbq stacks. Yet, I'm still rank 2 because of the terrible ranking system.

Red ranks are the shits and I can tell you point blank until they implement rank rewards I'm going to start depipping.

Games last 6 minutes or less. And before the git gud crowd comes in. Fine, I suck. Can I not be a red rank killer anymore then?

  • Map offering and OoO, I usually DC right away. Never understood DCing at the end of a match while survivors are already leaving the exits anyway.

  • I'd like Iron Grasp to prevent pallet saves. Agitation and Iron Grasp are too similar as it stands. Iron Grasp would be pretty strong, but not anything abusable.

  • Yep. Sometimes as a killer if I'm on tje mood, I'll give them the escape. Sometimes I don't. Just depends on my mood, if i feel they played non-toxic, and if I already have a BBQ stack from them. Had one yesterday give up. No BBQ stack, sorry about your luck pal.

  • Legion is Lee Jon to me.
