Because it is related to the game and topic at hand, and not a snarky personal attack.

It's also patently false. Dead Hard does not fail by latency "99% of the time" or even close to it. If it did, nobody would use it.

Just because something is related to the game, doesn't mean it's a "valid argument".

Like again, c'mon. What even is this?

Those are valid arguments. Calling someone "this guy" or calling people children isn't. :)

"Dead hard doesn't work 99%" is a valid argument?

    ...

    Umm...

I'm speechless. How is that a valid argument?

Do you realize how condescending you sound? Ew. Either add something intelligent to the table or stop posting.

Add something intelligent? What, like "DH doesn't work 99% of the time?" Or "Sorry you get flashlighted"? Or "I'm a red rank with 4000 hours"?

    Like c'mon, for real?

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

Lol imagine complaining about a perk that doesn’t work 99% of the time and leaves you exhausted on the floor most of the time due to the killers “Amazing” PNG. Craaazzyyy.

What an ice cold take. 99% of the time it doesn't work? Why do so many people run a perk that doesn't work 99% of the time. Oh that's because obviously your take on Dead Hard is blatantly and factually false.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1946740#Comment_1946740

If there wasn't more uses for DH it would be a dead perk. Perk is fine as it is. Bait it. If they get to a pallet with it they're now exhausted and can't use it again. IMHO Sprintburst is better. End LoS before it starts.

If someone uses lithe to extend a chase or get to a pallet should that be nerfed too?

If Lithe were as strong as DH, you'd see more people running it. Let's not pretend that they're equally strong perks.

  • @Marigoria said:

Actually as a solo player, my perk of choice is kindred, but thanks for the comment.

"This red rank dude" has a name, so try to be more respectful next time. You clearly know nothing about what you're talking about, and if you have more hours than me as you claim, you wouldnt get blinded by flashlights that easily.

You're the one that brought up ranks, guy. I get flashlighted from time to time, so does everybody.

My point was that there are more uses for Dead Hard than just avoiding hits.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1946719#Comment_1946719

Considering I have 4k hours in this game and I'm at red ranks, more often than not, like someone said above, survivors will panic and waste it. If they get a flashlight save and a pallet save because they used dead hard, it seems like that was a you problem, for not paying attention to your surroundings/looking at a wall. I never get blinded by flashlights, those are one of the easiest things to avoid in this game.

"Just do bones" is actually a good argument for SWF groups, for solo, not so much.

Dead Hard can be avoided, and yes sometimes it gives you an advantage. By that logic, why not nerf all perks? They're all supposed to give advantages.

    Just get better.

More hours than you and also red ranks. You gave me a circular argument. My guess is it's your survivor perk of choice and you'd hate to see it nerfed.

I've said it before, DH on It's own with one survivor running it isn't terrible. Going up against groups of 3 or 4 that are running is. You're simply not going to catch people out in the open where you can bait it all that often, regardless of what this 4k hour red rank dude claims. It's used to get to create space to the next pallet or window. You simply can't bait that.

  • @Marigoria said:

If you have more than 2 brain cells you can bait dead hard making it most of the time useless. It is fine as it is.

Oh yeah. "Just bait it". What if there is a pallet in front of them. How do you bait that?

What if they use it to gain distance for a flashlight or pallet save? How do you bait that?

You must not play red rank killer that often. Most games vs 4 red rank survivors you're going to see at least 3 dead hards.

    "JuSt BaIt It!"

Such a dumb argument. It's the "just do bones" argument for survivor. Zero nuance or real life application.

  • Drop pallets early. Also, I play both sides. Probably more survivor, and zi like these changes. The game feels more like a survival horror game instead of a Benny Hill show.

You can't get real greedy with loops kr pallets or you pay.

You can't get stuck out in the open or you pay.

If you get too aggressive with altruistic plays like flashlight saves or body blocking and you pay.

I'm kind of sad they're fixing things to be honest.

Exactly. I always love the "they're not listening to 'our feedback' line". "Our feedback"!? 50% of the opinions on the forums I'm pretty indifferent to. The rest of the opinions; some I agree with, some I think are absolute dog feces. This isn't group think over here. We're not some team of players with fully agreed upon opinions.

My advice to those that are crying about the changes is to go play something else, temporarily or forever. I've been enjoying the patch.

  • That bug has been in the game for a long time now. Not new at all.

  • No. It's not like the UI is something you focus on non-stop anyway.

  • @onemind said:

Normally I would agree with you but if people are literally getting headaches because of the new ui and I'm feeling eye strain from looking around every 5s there is something wrong with it

Played 12 games yesterday. No headache. Maybe our whiny player base is just crying about any change, per usual. I'm guessing that's more likely than mass headaches.

I was at work until 7pm EST and based on what I read, my expectations were that the game was broken. Then I played it and really enjoyed my games as both killer and survivor. I'll get used to the UI and movement. I'm already dropping pallets earlier due to the hit validation. It's really no big deal.

  • I've only played 12 games (4 survivor/8 killer).

I am pretty indifferent about the UI.

I am pretty indifferent about the locomotion (more positive than negative though)

The hit boxes on both sides have been a bit wonky, but more killer favored for sure.

The game is very much playable. Adjust your play. Don't greed pallets.

Honestly, it's no surprise that an extremely toxic player base is acting toxic toward the developers. None of these changes are game breaking or even close to game breaking.

If you feel that it is, find something new to play for a while. A healthy break from a game doesn't hurt anyway.

So much complaining about the most mundane #########. I feel like I'm living on a different planet than most of you.

  • I agree. Those games are so boring. I'd much rather deal with a bully squad than a group of Nexflix and Spine Chill players.

  • There shouldn't even a be a pip system. There should be a competitive/tournament mode and a chill mode where there is no rank with voice coms (killer and survivors can hear each other). Let the sweat dicks play with each other and people that just want to mess around have some relaxed fun (it is a game afterall).

  • @Galklife said:

there is bunch of killers dodging for literally everything: 4 PC? must be SWF dodge, 4 console? must be SWF dodge, 2 medkits? dodge (its not a joke), key? dodge, loaded in full lobby with 4 ready survs? dodge

and if you think its a joke its not, every case happened to my lobbies at least 10 times

ofc there might be killers that are trying to snipe someones lobby (but at most i would count it 10% of cases)

as much as i hate and despite survivors killing themselfes on 1st hook, or DCing after getting downed thats equivalent of killer dodging lobby because they dont want to play vs X... is it more harsh and punishes randoms? yup

right now MM literally doesnt work, but back then when it somehow worked(before crossplay) (i had my profile with DBD hours public) i was dodged on avg 3-5 times before each game and those dodging killers (i guess 1st or 2nd killers were red ranks) made MM give me below rank 15 killer (it was at time when in mm rules was 8 rank diff at most and it worked that way) but because we had open lobby dodged by so many killers Matchmaker gave us random killers

PC killers are going out of their way to check survivors steam profile(or even streamsnipe if you have ttv link) to make sure they will play vs bad survs/have easy game

For me it's simple. Don't play a map offering. I'll DC in the loading screen. Don't run OoO. I'll DC the second I see your aura.

I just think those two things are severly busted and I'm kind of done tolerating them. Why be miserable playing a game, when I can just wait a few minutes and play a game that's more fun?

  • @offwhiteknight said:

Easy to DC in the load screen when someone pulls that shady crap. Don't even get a DC penalty. Did it twice yesterday.

Same. I don't do that for keys, but I am for map offerings I don't like. If it map comes up naturally, sure, I'll hang around. You wanna play Red Forest, Ormund, Haddenfield- deuces.

  • Survivors in general shouldn't dictate where the game is being played.

One of my top three balance issues in the game our survivor map offerings. I'll take 4 keys over a map offering all day everyday.

What's really funny is when they ran the last MMR change I had really balanced matches at my rank and general experience level almost every game. I must be the one person who's wasn't bitten by MMR and can't wait for it to come back. Purp to Red that is.

Same. A handful of bad matches, but it wasn't as terrible for me as it was for others.

    Or...

People just complain whenever there is any change.

  • @Nicholas said:

Useless and super situational build, a total waste of time too. I have run this purely for fun and 99.99% no success. The Killer will instantly pick you up, avoid pallets, a teammate will drop the pallet when they are trying to recover you, during a bad chase or a poorly timed pallet save attempt. You also need a pallet and with fewer pallets and teammates that love wasting them good luck. The handful of times I had success was really fun but way too circumstantial; it's one of those the planets must be aligned builds.

Same. Used it for about a week straight after Elodie came out. I got it to work exactly zero times.

  • She may be my weakest player besides nurse (console). Played 3 games starting at rank 1 with her yesterday. And I depipped with her each game. And only one of the games did I get all 4 bbq stacks.

The puke is very sporadic. She's slow when trying to use it. She's tall. That stupid whisper effect when she's in her "strongest" phase makes it hard to hear.

    Not a fan at all.

  • Yeah, unless I'm running a hex (which I usually don't do all that happen), I get a little sad when I get Springwood. It's not the worst killer map, but it's not a lot of fun either.

More maps like Coal Tower please!

Hopefully you are a killer main. All my killer main friends and me have also left. The goal is to get it to a point where no killers are left so survivebabys have nothing to play against.

You sound like you're a toddler. I play both sides and both sides have some fair gripes. Go buy Friday the 13th and play againat the single player bots. That sounds more up your alley.

  • I think people have listed some tough maps.

And underrated tough map for killer is Gas Heaven. The building, the two stacks of junker cars. Lots of pallets. I struggle on that map.

  • Yeah. Terrible mechanic. Who wants to die from lag?

To be fair doc has all these that youve listed as well except for the map mobility and i don't see that many nerf doc threads and that many dcs as doc. Theres also the infamous impossible skillcheck doc build and his ability to counter stealth completly with iron maiden. Id take 5 freddies over a doc on the game. I think its moreso a classic case of bandwagon since as spirit and nurse i get less dcs then as freddy and their stronger then him.

You just said it in your own post. Doc doesn't have map mobility. Freddy does. It's not a minor difference between the two killers.

Yes of course just like getting out alive should. Problem is, it is easier to escape than it is to kill by a landslide.

Explain the kill rates being so high and yet survivor is so easy. That just doesn't jive with reality. Killer is as east as it's ever been. That doesn't mean a 4k is guaranteed or that a killer can't get rekt, but more games than not are at least a 3k and many games there may be 0-1 gens completed.

  • Love love love going up against the Demogorgon.

My hated killers are Oni, PH, hag, and Stridit (spirit woth stridor, regular spirit is difficult but at least a little fair).

I've learned to enjoy Billy as long as they don't have two down. Then it's just a ping pong to each hook, down, and rehook until the game is over.

  • It may change with rank rewards, but generally unless you're a stealth boy or just uber aggressive to an obnoxious point, my goal is to two hook everyone and then pseudo-farm (chase/hit/slug). Everyone gets points, everyone gets a serious enough game, I get no complaints playing this way and though you won't max out, you'll still get close to 30k per game (not including bbq or bp offerings) doing this.

  • I differs but overall if there was data, I'm guessing I'd be about a 55/45 survivor/killer ratio player, though lately I've been playing more killer.

My take on keys is that they're a necessary evil. I'd rather lose to a key than just have the last two survivors creeping around the map or just crouching at me to end the game as they're getting rekt.

As far as perks, I agree OoO needs a rework, though I do run it as a solo survivor and have ran it with SWF (I play mostly solo now). I have zero issues with DS, though it wouldn't break my heart if they got rid of the locker tech with it. I think Unbreakable should be basekit (maybe at a slower speed or limited amount of pick-ups).

The only two perks that really drive me up a wall (besides OoO) are Dead Hard and Spine Chill. The alleged counters are weak, and though those perks aren't too strong if one player is running those, it can be quite tiresome if multiple players are running them. I havw no clue how DH hasn't been looked at, but original Mettle was given the kabash. DH works multiple times in a match, even with the free health state, Mettle only worked one time and it had the aura reading downside.

Anyway, just my takes on what I would look at as far as survivor "over-poweredness". I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

How is face camping removed exactly? I do agree with your other points tho

You could treat hooks like PH's cages. Boom. Facecamping is now done.

Would it be good for the health of the game? I dunno. But that's how you could remove it.

  • Actually it didn't. Kill rates are closer to 3 per game on most killers. So maybe you just had a bad day, week, month, year, or lifespan at being the killer.

You would think that the kill rate is closer to one kill per match based on your original post, but it isn't. Killers have it made in the shade compared to launch.

  • Pyramid Head. Maybe not the strongest, but strong enough and I just don't enjoy playing against him.

Honorable mention: Stridit, Oni, amd Hag.

Babysitter, I'm happy Second Wind is getting tweaks but god Steve's perks are hilariously bad.

My wife and I were chilling in bed yesterday and we were talking abouy which killer is best and which survivor has the best/worst perks. We were both in agreement that Steve has the worst survivor perks. They're not good at all.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

If you don't get to use DS/unbreakable why do you use it? Learn to loop.

See I can do it as well.

I've played 3 games today with iron will, bond, proove, and wglf. One was a rank 11 slinger with just 1 perk, the other was a rank 2 slinger who didn't leave within 30 meters of whomever was hooked and immediately just went and tunneled the unhooked, and a rank 2 freddy that did the same thing. Game 4 is coming up in about a minute, guess which perks I'll be switching to for game 4.

Don't get me started on Freddy's rework, that was a crime against him. A Freddy rework on Clown would be like taking his tonic and giving him a gun instead. Boring, and it would take away what makes him the killer he is.

Yep. Loved playing as old Freddy. Yeah he had a significant weakness. But really they just needed to tweak his power a little bit instead of a complete rework where they gave him a ton of artillery. Oh well though.

I like playing as clown as well, looking forward to the rework as it doesn't seem as drastic.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/217305/found-a-perk-that-makes-ds-less-punishing

It’s good use of making do with what Killers have access to.

Slightly off topic, but I wonder if we’ll ever see a killer perk that accrues tokens from stuns, cultivating in some sort of powerful effect once enough tokens are gained?

Yeah, pretty much something like Jason's rage mode in F13. I've thought of that as well. Not sure exactly how it would work or if it would be a new perk, but it would be nice to be rewarded on maps where there are 20+ pallets.

  • A version of unbreakable that works similar to when survivors wake others up (slower after each use). Killers need to slug, but it's also terrible to be slugged over and over or for a long time.

  • I enjoy watching Ussylis and I'm glad he's no longer using stretched res. When people say, "look at streamer, he or she was good before and now look at them, they're still good"... Well that's not a good argument. Barry Bonds was already the best baseball player in the world, then he started to use performance enhancing drugs and he broke all kinds of records that still stand today.

A player can be good at something without cheating and then cheat and become even better. That's the case with good players in all games/sports. Or in the case with Ussylis, he cheated by using stretched res, and now he isn't and yes he is still a good looper. Is he as good as he was before, impossible to say without full data, but given the fact that stretched res definitely helps I'd say he's probably not as strong as a looper as he was before.
