tbh I have literally never seen that before.

Ooof. I did not know that. Haven't they also said they want this game to have E-Sports presence? That can't really happen without competitive mode.
I think saying that is just a marketing tactic to build up hype. The game is nowhere near balanced or e-sports ready, and I don't think they're going to put in the massive amount of work to overhaul it.

I haven't been on the forums that long, do people actually say that? Weird.
Worse, the devs say that...
-
"If they see you are too close, they won't risk the rescue. Remember, every Survivor that comes to rescue a hooked person isn't doing Generators."
I wish my teammates would do this. Instead they see a camping killer and start to crouch-walk around and stare at the killer. Then go in at the last second and get killed too.

iT wOuLd SpLiT tHe PlAyEr BaSe
Because the most successful and popular games have only ONE game mode and only ONE queue of course!
For real, I would love this. You can practice weird builds or new killers, mess around with your friends and not worry about de-pipping because they brought a mori.
-
They might take "ggs, well played and best of luck in future matches^-^" as over-the-top and sarcastic.
-
The rift is perfect if you DON'T care about the cosmetic rewards. If you do or you buy the pass (like I did), you'll feel obligated to grind for those rewards, and make it "worth your while". But it'll end up feeling like a chore, and games where you don't achieve your challenge feel like a waste of time.
It's so much better when you don't care, and just treat these like sidequests or free bloodpoints every few games. It gives you something different to do during the game so it doesn't feel too same-y.
I play every now and then and couldn't complete all 70 tiers. I'm sure if i was unemployed + single I'd get it done no sweat.

Clownisking guy you will whine for everything today on these forums mate? 😂 what about spending more time in game than on forum so you eventually get better in game? x)
seriously I think he's made 500 threads for each little aspect of DBD
-
I'll use it once in a while depending on the killer, but other perks like I'm All Ears are just more fun to run
I suspect it'll fall out of favor when survivors adapt to the Undying meta and break all totems they can find (and run perks to find them)
-
If you and your buddy hate getting tunneled, you can run this and they can run Babysitter.
After you get unhooked, you won't leave blood, won't make noise, won't make scratch marks, and can't be seen with aura reading.
-
Vengeful ghost that declares vengeance on anyone who dares repair a generator?
"DON'T TOUCH MY GENS REEEEE"
I get what you're saying though lol. I think it's funny that "splitting up" is the worst idea in a horror movie, yet in DBD it's the best strategy

There's a strategy to this, and it takes advantage of the addictive nature of variable reward. This concept is most notably present in gambling, but video games can be designed around it.
http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2018/dopamine-smartphones-battle-time/
Brilliant article, thank you for sharing! I can definitely see where they're coming from. The spikes of frustration and dopamine rush are all too familiar to anyone who plays video games. Funny enough, now that they can't fix the D/C penalties, I just leave games with Moris and I suffer no frustration. Once that's back in, they'll force me to get demolished once in a while... but then I'll feel like I should stop playing :)

The game is designed to be frustrating
https://youtu.be/YCc4SU-NSW4?t=578
This game is barely scary. The negative emotions that this game is designed to invoke are frustration and anger. If BHVR didn't score a jackpot like they did with the grinding system, this game would not be nearly as popular as it is. There are core design principles in this game that allow you to specifically ruin the fun of another person and barely anything is done to combat this, and the fixes that are implemented are arguably just as frustrating to deal with.
This game does have a profound negative effect on the mind, and it feeds into toxicity. It is unfortunate that the devs seem to either shrug off this issue or even make fun of it.
That 2nd interview clip, wow. I guess that's the answer to my question of "why do moris (and broken items/add-ons) exist". They want you to be pissed off that you got tunneled and mori'd because apparently that keeps you playing (???).
-
Has anyone experienced it during the Hit Validation tests? I wasn't playing during them to see if that fixed the issue
-
I still remember the first time auto-aim ######### me. I was playing KYF getting the hang of killer when I stabbed at someone going for a hook save.. yet the game thought I wanted to attack the guy on the hook. So they run away, get BT, and escape. You can imagine my reaction.
I was told "welcome to Dead by Daylight"

Absolute first thing I would do is change Jeff's name to John.

As soon as you said you could juke a hit scan, 0 travel time in your words. I stopped reading. That is litterly you didnt juke hr missed. I'm pretty sure at max range you can possibly ju see a slinger because I find myself leading if far away.
Juke
/jo͞ok/
verb
- 1.
- INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN
- (in sports) make a sham move to mislead an opponent.
- "Howard juked left, sending three defenders leaning as he went toward the center of the field"
- 2.
- SCOTTISH•NORTHERN ENGLISH
- turn or bend quickly, typically to avoid someone or something.
- "I jouked around the corner"
Faking your movement to lead someone in the wrong direction is juking
-
Does anyone have a good idea how to spice up the gen repairs? Should we play DDR with the W-A-S-D keys? I can't think of a good replacement to holding M1
-
"You can't do anything"
You can do LOTS. Looping a DS isn't possible at some loops but very easy on others. Dropping the pallet early stops him dead in his tracks
"You didn't juke him, he just missed"
Yes you can, when he misses.. that's called juking. It's the same thing in First Person Shooters - when someone bobs and weaves to dodge shots that are hitscan (literally 0 projectile travel time) that's juking.
"If he starts faking his shots and I juke, he just gains distance and hits me"
Then don't juke. You have to adapt to how the killer is playing. And like I mentioned earlier, you have to play differently to the other killers. Just like... nearly all the killers. No you can't loop him like a Wraith, but that's not the Wraith's strong suit. DS's strength is (close range) loop ending - and he's not even the best at that.

I remember this games community used to be so fun and enjoyable that you had fun even if you lost a progress pip. Now it's nothing but tunneling, noed, potato survivers, and toxic survivors. Did a big majority of the chill player base leave? Every now and then I get good teammates and non toxic killers and survivors, but where did all the fun go? 9 times out of 10 when I manage to get another PC player as a teammate I'll tell them what perks I have and they still won't work together or they'll purposely deni me unhooks despite me having we'll make it. I just try to be a good teammate and be the medic, but I just get people that wanna wait while others do the work or they blame me for the loss even tho I'm the only one trying to unhook when the killer isn't right there. I feel like maybe I need to take a break from this game, but this is what most of the people I play he's with play.
When exactly was this? Was this also when you were new to the game?
-
IMO it should be default, and the other Moris are removed from regular gameplay but left in KYF. What is their purpose? They're overpowered items that should be used as a handicap. I.E. if a new player is playing with his experienced friends, they'll let him bring the red mori to balance the game.

I agree. I like solo queue as well. We might be the only two people who likes running random perks and solo queue. I get less triggered when I play solo, honestly. The key to having fun is to not take the game seriously. Unfortunately, I automatically take the game seriously when I play with friends. I don't know why.
Same! My SWF tends to be completely silent if not joking around. So there will be multiple people running to a hook even if someone says "Is anyone going for the save?" and no one responds. Maybe it's because when you can't voice chat to the other players when you solo q, you can't expect them to know what's going on and communicate back. I have to continually check myself and not take the game so seriously lol. I love KYF though, that's just fun.

Yeah I'm sorry about that I'm kinda frustrated I have multiple people coming at me. Excuse that but please since these were all assumptions you knew both correct?
yes i knew that you can stretch screens on killers, and looking down rotates your camera so you can see over edges better

Also I want to point out th as t in the clips that feng min wasnt looking down. Any experienced survivor looks down to either see more over loops or see in a crack. Kinda ruins its validity but I dont think you noticed that did you?
I also appreciate that you can admit its cheating when killers use it like that.
"Kinda ruins its validity but I dont think you noticed that did you?"
"Bet you didnt know this type of stretched is cheating for killers did you?"
You're so pretentious lol. Twice now you've just assumed what I think out of nowhere. You're just grasping at straws to justify the cheating.

So that is really stretched please check the of comment.
1600 x 1080 is the one I'm defending. Bet you didnt know this type of stretched is cheating for killers did you? ( not 1600 x 1080 if I'm unclear)
artificially stretching your resolution as a killer is just the same as a survivor.. of course it's cheating even if there are different benefits.

if you don't like this youtuber, try this one

I fail to see how its cheating when it doesnt let you see more of the killer.
LOL it DOES let you see more of the killer, you can see over walls you wouldn't normally and completely avoid mindgames. This says a lot about you, I'll remember this thread when I see your future posts. lol.

no ETA on those changes
-
- Devs announce a stupid change
- Forums are in an uproar
- "guys relax, they haven't given us specifics"
- specifics come out, they're just as expected
- "guys relax, it's still in beta, they can fix by the time it's live"
- it goes live
- "guys relax, they'll patch it soon"
- it doesn't get patched
- "the negativity here is so toxic, the devs don't deserve this"
- "can we get a positivity thread here? the devs do a great job!"
This is the cycle I've seen a thousand times over from different game companies, it's fascinating to see the different iterations.

Haha then i guess it's a bug, because you CAN hear the heartbeat as he travels across the map.

He does get Undetectable when entering the Upside Down, and for 2 seconds after leaving it.
You can still hear the heartbeat zooming across the map, it's not an instant thing
-
- Slippery Meat no longer affects Bear Trap escapes, and now increases hook escape attempt probabilities by 2%/3%/4%
LMAO
-
I wish he went undetectable as soon as he entered the upside down. Not really stealthy when you can hear his heartbeat racing towards you after you hear the teleport sound. It should make ever survivor panic that he's around the corner
-
I can't help but think most of them would play metal. Left in the Slashstreet Boys because.. come on that's just perfect lol
-
Just the other night I was playing Spirit (hey don't kill me yet, i brought a cake!). The survivors were okay but one player was really good, a P3 Cheryl. She must've blinded or pallet saved 5+ times, no joke. Apparently they were from Argentina and very laggy so I wonder if that played into it, it was just a purple flashlight with 2 batteries and would blind me while not even in my POV- it was the first time i got blinded while walking to a hook, normally looking up or down ignores the light.
I didn't really care, i was laughing so hard at how this ninja would always pop out behind a rock and get me. They all escaped but I still got brutal killer due to how many times I downed them. We all had a good laugh in the post-game chat and some added me as friends.
Just goes to show that what attitude you bring into the match is all the difference in how much fun you have. I could've been furious that they keep getting me, mad at myself for making mistakes, raging at the Cheryl for getting me again and again, etc. But instead I had a blast :)
-
Why would you want to be fat?
-
I've found Iron Will to be a better solution. If the killer doesn't see you and you're good at hiding, they'll eventually give up or find your savior's scratch marks.
So many times when I play killer and I return to a hook and I see scratch marks - i follow them. Then I find the hooked guy and feel bad. If you're saving someone, take the aggro from the killer!

But I'm not talking about bleeding out. I'm talking about slugging for pressure. I'm coming back to hook you the second i got my hit/pallet.
If anything saving survivors from other survivors who ragequit at first down sounds like a reason more to slug
You seem to be under the impression you're talking to the survivors of your previous match....
Some people don't come back until everyone is a slug. Some people don't slug when there's only 2 people left. How exactly are you telling the survivors that you'll come back for them and NOT slug?
-
Because it's not a hook.
- You get points for unhooking, almost nothing for healing someone off the ground
- when it's down to 2 people left and 3 gens left, there's literally 0% chance you win. So if he slugs, everyone is just waiting for the timer to go down.
- if he hooked instead, it would either kill the person or at least give the other survivor points for unhooking.
-

I'd be okay with the multi-rarities returning on ONE occasion: if the Perk Inventory was adjusted to display all perks in alphabetical order regardless of their rarity.
Otherwise, the upcoming change is one I've been hoping they would do for a while now to improve navigating the inventory. I don't really want to return to the old messy system of sorting by name AND rarity again.
Why weren't they always alphabetized regardless of rarity? Hhaha it's as if they thought higher tiers = better than lower tiers regardless of ability, so they show the "rare" perks first. As if T3 Monstrous Shrine is better than T1 BBQ&Chili...
-
Playing solo Q can suck and be very frustrating, but that's nothing to playing against coordinated survivors who are much better than you
This is how it feels:
(reference is to Tantalus, a greek myth where he was cursed in hell to have fruit JUST out of reach, and when he wanted to drink the water it would drain to the bottom- he'd be continually hungry/thirsty with sustenance just teasing him.)
-
Hopefully this is the start of a trend of touching up perks
-
@FrootLoops said:

Because either BP or Aura reading would make BBQ a top pick for most killer builds. Having the 2 combined means that you get a strong ability + a huge reward. Making WGLF a choice between getting BP or putting a useful perk on is the complaint and makes the BP disparity between survivor and killer even bigger. The hope was for a moderately strong effect in addition to BP in the interest of balance. healing from dying buff is as useful as Ash's Buckle Up perk, but I suppose we will have to wait and see what the actual effect is
You didn't really answer my question. Your reasoning for the need for them to be the same is that BBQ is strong.
IMO neither of them should provide BP benefits while simultaneously reducing the grind by removing tiers or lowering the BP cost of things.
As it stands, there's only 3 available perk slots for everyone because there's no reason to not run these perks if you don't have all the perks unlocked on whatever characters you want (which takes a LONNNGGG time). The buff just exacerbates this lack of choice.
-
Why does it have to be the same? Because they share one thing in common?
-
@MadLordJack said:
I'm sorry to say this, but nobody really cares. It's the most basic human instinct: "I have my problems, I want my problems solved, and I don't care about yours." It's also called "selfishness," or "lack of empathy."
The worst part is the whattaboutism. Oh, the whattaboutism. Someone talks about one problem then someone else comes in with a completely different issue and shouts over everyone else because their issue somehow invalidates the first one.
You make some good points but what about my problems?
-
Growing pains. Hex perks in general got a huge buff with Undying and it's going to take a while before people learn how to adapt. I suspect Detective's Hunch to be a top tier perk soon.
