  • DEAR ALL CONSOLE PLAYERS!!!:

    gg

I've been wanting to tell you that but chat isn't enabled :(

  • Sure can! The best is at the start of the match. If you spawn alone, make a loud noise notification and start hiding. If you can, throwing a diversion pebble can stall enough to win the game if your other teammates are doing gens.

I think people don't like stealth players because most of the time you see someone being stealthy is when the killer is actively chasing someone else or is not even remotely close to them. At that point you're not stealth-ing around, you're just crapping in a bush.

  • Easy Anticheat has kicked me in the middle of the game to tell me that I need to verify my files. ######### lol

  • Desolation - Whenever you hook a survivor they are completely blind - no aura readings, and cannot see anything other than their player model.

Solo survivors that got hooked won't mind too much, all they can do is wiggle if the killer is near. SWF can't communicate where the killer is or where he's going.

  • Yeah I've been saying this for a while. It will help so much with the grind which has gotten to Korean MMO levels...

  • I'm convinced that Billy has such a high skill cap because his mechanics are so f-ing janky and everyone has just gotten used to it. If you move your mouse 1 micron to the left when you charge, he'll turn at a 90 degree angle into a wall and suffer a cooldown almost as bad as legion. But if you don't, you can BARELY turn during a sprint, making it easy for all but the dumbest survivors to dodge. The only time I play him is when I have to do rift challenges, and I just farm those.

I'm not saying that he's a trash killer - in the right hands he's very good. But instead of learning that, just learn nurse and crush everyone.

  • Playing KYF and I trap 3 of my friends in the exit gates, my friend shouts "OH GOD HE'S GOT BLOODWARDEN! NOOO!"

  • It's easy, you just need to find a killer who will be nice to you

You can't just say it would be OP without even giving a reason to why it would be OP.

I'm not sure what you're imagining, but I'm thinking he could shut down literally every loop by decloaking inside a wall

  • @lagosta said:

If you want to rank up Prove Thyself is good for the points, but if I still think the single perk that has the most impact in terms of coordination in SQ in Kindred. If you're on hook, you're coordinating the team and relaying killer info. If you're not, you can see your whole team and prevent second stages or stay on gens while you watch the rescue.

The problem is that when you use Kindred and you see all 3 other survivors crouch walking or sprinting towards you, you lose all faith in humanity.

  • I play both sides but I wish there were more killers. The queue times for survivors is rough, but that's with crossplay on. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to play killer on console

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

I'm not exactly sure what's so hard to just copy&paste the previous event and maybe add a few days of double bloodpoints?

Would love to see an explanation from a dev.

Bro they can't change anything in this game without creating 50 new bugs. Not an excuse, but it must be harder than hitting CTRL V

  • OP: I am SICK of TETRIS and it's "RULES". Oh I HAVE to stack things and make a neat line otherwise the blocks don't disappear? Really? So I just have to do EXACTLY what you want otherwise I lose right away? This is stupid.

    @Almo said:

It's up to Survivors to punish camping. When I camp, if nobody comes for the rescue, I stop because I'm losing ground. But when they come running, even if they don't rush the hook and just hang around and they're not repairing while the one on the hook is dying, I'm still profiting.

It is true that the Emblem system does not look favorably upon camping... but the best way to stop it to not to reward it.

I know all the arguments and counter arguments about it; I've heard them over and over. :)

One of DbD's core values is "player agency". We want players to have as much input on what happens in matches as possible. Eliminating camping as a strategy removes choice from both the Killer and the Survivors; it limits gameplay possibilities. Deciding to do gens instead of rescuing the one being camped is a moral decision: choosing the good of the many over the good of the one. Sometimes, the Survivors choose the good of the one over the good of the many; when they do, they often suffer dire consequences. But all of that arises from player choice.

I will not say "camping is good gameplay in DbD" as many construe my comments to mean. But the possibility, the choice leading to it, and the choices it requires Survivors to make are all part of what makes the game great: player agency. Removing those choices only reduces the range of decisions to make, which isn't good in the long run.

We have experimented extensively with anti-camping measures. In the end, the result was always that the camper just camped harder, or we had to break fundamental systems to accomodate the anti-camping measure.

Good points, but I think survivors prioritize fun gameplay (trying to unhook when a killer is nearby) rather than sitting and holding M1... not so much a moral choice.

  • Agreed. Slugging is insanely boring and I hate doing it for the 4k, but if you want the 4k then you need to. And it's just a really smart idea in general, most of the time you save a ton of time by sacrificing a hook state for a lot of time saved since you've effectively disabled them anyways.

There's a real flaw in that gameplay because there's nothing for you to do as a slug, it's worse than being on a hook. Perks like Unbreakable or Soul Guard aren't going to do the job, there needs to be something else to make it a little more dynamic.

edit: my point is - criticize the game, don't get mad at someone for doing it. It's not their job to balance the game, it's BHVR's

  • It really blows my mind that people play only 50% of this game... and then not understand that their view of balance in this game is skewed

    Midwich. There.

Half the size of midwich but there's 5 different floors that all look the same, but with a random maze of tiles and pallets. Gens are single person use only, hidden behind walls and in corners

Survivors constantly hear the heartbeat but can't find generators, killers can't find anyone or if they do they have to break 500 pallets.

Basically every indoor map's problems x5

It's almost like he is literally the best survivor on the planet with over two hundred escapes in a row which is also the wr for escapes in a row. i was telling you this so you would check it, see in the description of one of his vods and actually get where I'm coming from

I didn't stand a chance at any rank it wasn't a matter of me having skill or not, it was a matter of me getting put In with the best player to touch dbd at rank 7

And yes, i know he's only rank 4 And rank doesn't always = skill

I watched a game of his. He's really good, but not the best survivor of all time...

I played against ScottJund when I was brand new to the game. He obviously destroyed me but luckily I killed him because he missed his DS. Sometimes you play against the best. Watch the replay and try to learn what you did wrong- the matchmaking won't get fixed any time soon.

I can already see the " Bot OP " posts lmao

If they program bot survivors to repair gens and then run to another gen and repair it, it'll be better than most survivors LOL

  • My dad is the president of Behaviour and he said you can get banned if you run forbidden perks

  • @FreakPrince said:

Anything people don’t like they’re gonna call it crutches.

This. Actual crutches are perks like Unrelenting - something that's very useful for new players, but once you get better it's actively bad for you to run since other perks will help you more. If something is useful (like BBQ or DS) at all levels of play, then it cannot be a crutch.

  • They do have a purpose: they're fun

  • as in 'you "other" killers'..?

  • Is this a complaint or brag? You got 32k bp and a 4k...

  • Some people have very strong opinions. I think the people who rage at nerfing Moris are either not good at the game, and/or are frustrated they can't troll streamers/survivors. Or that SWF will be "unstoppable" now

  • If you needed moris to get kills then you've got a long road of improvement ahead of you

But why is it going to take time? Why didn't they wait for both to be ready so both sides of the community felt included? Both frustrate the opposing side. Both where seen as OP. But because one was 'simpler' it had to get pushed out? After Mori's had already been nerfed and keys never have been? In fact they are stronger now then they used to be because of how hatch can spawn even with no generators are done and the killer closing it does not prevent a key from being used.

    please read this:

Whataboutism, also known as whataboutery, is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument.[1][2][3]

The problem over all is, they where nerfed to uselessness, and the fact keys didn't get a similar treatment.

Keys have nothing to do with moris.

Keys are going to get nerfed, but it'll take time.

Nerfing moris is the right choice. If you think they're useless, you don't play this game at all

  • Not all items have the same rarity... keys start at Green, medkits start at brown. If you had the same amount of key addons in the pool, you'd end up getting too many for keys you don't have while your medkits/toolboxes don't have anything.

Probably because people weren't making constant posts about the lack of Germans

The same applies to LGBT. In fact, until the devs' Twitter "announcement", there were no comments on the subject. Now people just want to make sure the devs keep their word.

You're missing my point about pandering. It's not that giving people what they want is bad inherently. It's that once pandered to, people feel the need to defend companies because now they're "the good guys". They'll use this to deflect heat from bad choices - "hey guys I know that update was filled with bugs, but rest assured we're going to let you know who is LGBT in DBD".

That's not a thing that happens.

Really? There was NO ONE asking BHVR to add LGBT representation to their game before their tweet? No one??

And NO ONE defends devs that pander to them? NO ONE??

not an excuse, I'm looking at BHVR at a whole, and if the higher ups made that choice- they should be ashamed

It's not meant to be an excuse. The people apologizing aren't the ones actually responsible for the problems. It's just a statement of fact.

I thought the higher ups decide when to release stuff? They also decide who to hire - it's the same on every game the shoves out DLC by the truckload yet lets the game crumble. "Guys the art team doesn't code!!11!" So hire less artists and hire more/better coders. But that doesn't generate quite as much short term profits does it?

Hiring more coders won't help. Too many cooks and all that. I can't say anything about their skill level because I don't know it.

they're always "working on it" lol

Is that an issue? Would you rather the same thing that happened with this DLC also happen with everything else? Just rushed features and patches full of bugs?

but they can give specifics on DLC

They can give specifics on things that have already been decided, yes, if the higher-ups allow it.

exactly - I'm just clarifying to people that think once they say "oh by the way, Claudette is a lesbian" that they're doing some personal favor for them for representation, to make them feel welcome.

Yes, thank you. Every LGBT person already knows this because every single time LGBT representation is mentioned, someone makes the same comment you just did. We also know what capitalism is and are well aware of the concept of pandering. However, as I said before, I find it curious that "pandering" isn't mentioned when it comes to other characters. For example, why wasn't "German pandering" on the tip of everyone's tongues when Felix was released, if indeed pandering is so bad?

Probably because people weren't making constant posts about the lack of Germans

You're missing my point about pandering. It's not that giving people what they want is bad inherently. ship [BAD WORD] with bugs, say they're sorry but make excuses

The higher-ups decide when stuff is released, not the devs themselves.

push out cosmetic DLC instead of balancing the game / the grind

Would you like the art department to work on bugs or game balance? I wouldn't. No offense to the art department, they make some nifty stuff, but I wouldn't want them working on bugs any more than I'd want a geologist to operate on me.

they're focusing on add-ons for balance.. and ignoring keys/mori/palletspawning (we're looking at them....)

They've already mentioned they're working on keys and moris. Pallets (and maps in general) are being reworked. The graphical update includes map reworks.

ignore the grind for the next 6-9 months????

The devs can't drop everything they're doing every single time there's a problem to be addressed. These things need structure.

    "we're looking at it"

What else do you expect them to say? They can't give out specifics because some people go crazy every time the devs show WIP stuff that they change later on, calling them liars and whatnot.

LGBT representation - this is just corporate pandering. They're not your friend, they're selling you a product

Yes, that's how capitalism works, they want to make a product that appeals to consumers so they can make money. That's why they included Shape, to pander to Halloween fans, and Pyramid Head, to pander to Silent Hill fans. Oddly enough, pandering only seems to be an issue when it's about LGBT representation.

1 not an excuse, I'm looking at BHVR at a whole, and if the higher ups made that choice- they should be ashamed

2 I thought the higher ups decide when to release stuff? They also decide who to hire - it's the same on every game the shoves out DLC by the truckload yet lets the game crumble. "Guys the art team doesn't code!!11!" So hire less artists and hire more/better coders. But that doesn't generate quite as much short term profits does it?

3 they're always "working on it" lol

4 but they can give specifics on DLC

5 exactly - I'm just clarifying to people that think once they say "oh by the way, Claudette is a lesbian" that they're doing some personal favor for them for representation, to make them feel welcome.

  • Same old, same old

    • ship ######### with bugs, say they're sorry but make excuses
    • push out cosmetic DLC instead of balancing the game / the grind
    • they're focusing on add-ons for balance.. and ignoring keys/mori/palletspawning (we're looking at them....)
    • ignore the grind for the next 6-9 months????
    • "we're looking at it"
    • LGBT representation - this is just corporate pandering. They're not your friend, they're selling you a product
  • So like 2 or maybe 3 things on the bloodweb? That is just pathetic. They say they realize the grind is "nuts" and don't have any plans to change it for the next 6-9 months.... so they don't care obviously.

If they did, and it's just too much work to rework the Bloodweb/Perk System - they'd be gifting everyone a million points at a time to keep up with the grind.

  • The only infinite I've found is the survivor queue time.....

    1. no it's not
    2. don't feel sorry for them when they set it up to be impossible to balance

Add-ons, items, # of pallet spawns and locations, maps, and SWF especially make it impossible to balance.

Having items and addons in the bloodweb sounds like a good idea, padding the web with things that make you feel like you're making progress, but really just cluttering your inventory. Worse though is that the items are completely imbalanced. The difference between showing up with a medkit or not is huge, let alone keys, moris, etc. that everyone knows are broken.

The only thing out of their control is swf. They could make kindred base kit or something, but that's still not as much info as a swf on comms have.

  • I don't think people realize how often they get bloodlust. If you're not playing nurse, spirit, or hag or something, you get bloodlust a LOT, and many times it's the difference between a down or not. Don't be so elitist thinking that anyone who gets bloodlust is a noob that relies on it. Also if you think killers in general are stronger than survivors, you're playing at a low level.

  • I mean.. people have been nonstop complaining about those things since release. Did you think everyone would stop and hold hands when they announced this experiment?

  • jesus.. good luck bud!

  • Better yet, disable all generators. Survivors now have to befriend the killer so they can escape together! You can go to the shop and buy the killer a gift, talk to them about their hobbies, and even share a beer with them at the local pub. Most friends wins.

  • Dang, makes me wish I hadn't completed that challenge, so I can always have those disgusting piles of puss in my games :)

Theres a huge difference in being destroyed LEARNING, and being destroyed when they have ZERO chance to even learn anything.

Smurf squads won't teach a new player anything. They'd never catch them, they'd just be bullied to hell and back and that just demoralizes them. Imagine how someone who just installed the game and gets absolutly bulldozed over because of this feels? Would you want to continue after that? I wouldn't. I accept theres always learning in PvP games. Hell, I suck at CoD but I'm learning to get better, and that's because I don't get smurf squads constantly ######### me over.

Funny thing you bring up Call of Duty - that game's multiplayer spawn system is designed so that even the very newest players can get kills and even a killstreak, just shooting people in the back. It's very intentional to be that way - everyone no matter how they did goes away thinking "ah well at least i got some kills, it was fun". DBD is a whole 'nother beast
