The secret of counterplay...

... is knowing your tropes.

Lbr, every killer in the game embodies a type of horror/slasher archetype (if they are not outright said archetype). And this is where, at least on paper, their counterplay stems from.

Take spirit:

She IS meant to be the vengeful ghost, so the intended counterplay is to hide and keep quiet when you hear the sorrowful moaning on the wind. issue is simply people don't play her like that.

The counterplay is always there, and it could be great fun, if people would just embrace the tropes instead of playing every killer the same.

  • Vengeful ghost that declares vengeance on anyone who dares repair a generator?

    "DON'T TOUCH MY GENS REEEEE"

I get what you're saying though lol. I think it's funny that "splitting up" is the worst idea in a horror movie, yet in DBD it's the best strategy

  • Ikr? People just want the same old counter play, and they don't want to switch up their play style.

    Counters to seemingly uncounterable killers:

Deathslinger: Tiny terror radius? You have e y e s. Afraid of his zoning? Call his bluff. Or just juke his shot. People forget his bullet has travel time, and a big ol' BOOM sound effect.

Spirit: Stealth. If you don't want to be in a chase with her, don't.

I mean, we know what you are saying, but hiding/stealth is (for many) not a lot of fun.

On top of that, calling stealth solid counterplay is questionable at best. Sure, it might work from time to time, but it is not in your hand if the killer finds you or not.

Well, kind off, but is it the peoples fault the game does not offer more interesting stuff? Dont blame the people, blame the devs for not giving survivors more fun options.
