It was not in the PTB and Peanits already said it was not happening! I dont know why people keep saying this is going to be a thing 😂 if it was, you might as well remove ranks all together.

So when it happens and they tell you |it's a big we're looking into it," you're probably going to believe it's coincidence aren't you?

  • @oxygen said:

My favorite is when people that are clearly "playing for salt" don't get what they're after.

More related to the postgame chat, but I'm sure you've all seen it. One player sitting there going gg ez or whatever while everyone else just says gg and doesn't give them what they want, but also applies to someone trying their best to be "annoying" in game and everything goes wrong for them in one way or another.

I've seen people like that stop the act and join in on the GGs, even seen them apologize. But I've also seen them desperately escalate from just being unpleasant to straight up breaking the rules (racism, threats and so on).

My favorite is the person who drops the first pallet super early, teabags, and then is so easy to down.

All that annoying stuff stops super quick when they realize they aren’t just like their favorite streamer

  • @Mellow7 said:

So what would you guys do if you saw a streamer in your lobby in a 3 man SWF? Would you dodge, bring ebony mori, take noed, etc?

I typically avoid playing with and against streamers because I don't know if they're toxic or if they're community is.

Like as in have TTV in their name? That’s 90% of my games... and how do you know 3-man SWF?

  • @NullEXE said:

I tend to blow some extra air through my nostrils when a survivor tries to spin to dodge attacks like a red rank killer isn't going to have their mouse sensitivity set to 80+.

Another favorite is when a survivor stands next to the window, thinking they are gonna sneak back through behind me when I come through it, like as if I'm not gonna turn around with the push of a button and take the free grab.

Don't believe everything you see on YouTube kids. Nine times out of ten they are de-rankers against killers that haven't configured their settings/controls yet.

Right they see “streamer X,” doing 360s and taunting the killer to chase him... not realizing he has 5000 hours in the game but has de ranked to level 15 to get highlights.

Kids, watch the video for an uncut transition to the end game screen and see if they’re all legit red ranks... if they don’t show them or do a clear cut, chances are they aren’t

I remember one guy following me around all game with a flashlight, clicking it for attention and trying to blind me whenever I picked up another survivor. He never got a single flashlight blind and I ignored all his pleas for attention.

After the game when I got the 4k he moaned at me but saved most of his salt for his team who he ripped into mercilessly.

I pointed out that the others tried and he contributed NOTHING. He didn’t touch a single generator, provided little distraction to me as I rarely chased him, and he didn’t get a single flashlight blind. The game was basically a 3 vs 1 and him not being there would have made little difference.

This blew his mind. He could not comprehend it. The Nea who ran around me all game with his flashlight the most useless player on the team? No, never! It was all the other survivors who were to blame! They should have rushed gens harder while he was busy clicking his flashlight at me, watching his other survivors going down and getting hooked.

This! One chase and you occupy three people lol.

Now if you’re trying to learn flashlight saves that’s a whole separate thing, gotta start somewhere and practice. But when you do the clicky click and teabag... yeah game on

  • @GaunterODimm said:

Honestly its the survivors enabling killers to face camp apparently this strategy is working. I had Kindred so everyone could just see Leatherface face camping and I am fine pressing the struggle button as long as they could finish the generators and get out.

    What did they do?

They'd hook bomb a Leatherface and a bad killer somehow got a 4k from that? Man what the hell even.

Right! Or giving Free hits trying to body block when the hooks are all right there... man you’re just giving him a free injure then wasting time self healing.

  • @Mrwood204 said:

Especially if its endgame and I got downed by NOED. Just leave

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/120977/if-you-play-both-survivor-and-killer-are-you-happy-or-upset-about-the-ruin-change-overall

I changed my opinion honestly. If they never actually nerfed the band aid fix to gen speeds, they would never be able to tell how bad of a genrush can happen. All that means,is that now they will be able to tell whether or not gens should get nerfed in some way

Spot on, I prefer to not run it. I probably ran it half the time but I could tell the difference in how fast I was “learning,” to apply pressure. I think no Ruin does make you a better killer, teaches you a sense of urgency in chases.

That being said I do hope the nerf gives them numbers to justify a change to gen speed or something else like a new objective entirely to make the games a but longer.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think the Ruin change is mostly good. No matter the rank, there is a good chance you'll have teammmates that simply can't or won't work through it. I also have much more fun in survivor games when Ruin isn't there. If there is a game speed problem, the devs need to see it without a bandaid over it before they can truly address it.

That being said, I caution against what seems to be a trend towards balancing for the lowest common denominator. In any multiplayer game I've ever played, a large portion of the playerbase will somehow find and live at the skill floor, regardless of how low the floor is. You can keep lowering the acceptable floor, but then players won't improve.

That’s what worries me, making the game playabl and fun for new players is great... but it greatly impacts things in red ranks and especially for that top players. I’m not one of those top players but they are just as important to this game as anyone else, maybe more so because if all streamer games turn into five minute long matches with 4 escapes it will be super boring

  • @Infinity_Bored said:

I play both and i am happy with the change.

Ruin is annoying as survivor. Though i am able to hit the skillchecks, most of my teammates aren't (solo surv) and run around useless, till ruin is finally found.

As a killer i dont rely on ruin.

I remember the first time I hit multiple ruin checks in a row, something like 4/5 on the first gen and about the same in the second I did. I remember thinking, “cool I never have to search the totem again,” WRONG

Just like you said even at red rank half the players won’t even attempt to do gens til it’s gone

  • I play Steve but survivors are skins anyways, don’t see much Demo though

  • No they think it’s easy because easily 50% or more of survivors at red rank belong in purple or lower. I know because I’m at rank 1-2 and I don’t belong there

  • You have to hook people first, and each hook will slow downs three survivors by 3% which makes a gen take about 3 seconds longer...

    The math is underwhelming

Are you going to act like this post is actually productive. Your literally crying about people crying. I seriously dont get why people answer me sometimes. All they do is going from looking stupid to looking even more stupid.

I like how you called for the thread to be closed for shaming, and when someone asked who was being shamed you say I dunno.

Not all forum threads have some grand point, sometimes we just wanna get together and swap stories or vent.

When people use the term gen rush it's never used in a negative context towards survivors like tunneling or camping is it's normally just used to state how quickly the objectives are being done.

Of course we don't expect you to do anything else however the time at which the objectives are complete is just a pain

No, it’s used in negative context with vulgarity. If they wanna aim it at the devs then endgame chat is the wrong place

I think a full reset to 20 would be against what they're trying to do with some of the reworks in keeping new players engaged. If they reset it to 15 or something like that then the brand new players wouldn't be completely steamrolled by all the red and purple ranks clawing back to the top.

I had game today as solo survivor all ranks 1-5 against a rank 19 killer today

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think a lot of Killers aren't used to Survivors actually doing objectives. Tons of players just mess around or waste time healing in corners so no Killers can get practice for dealing with pressure.

Depends on the map too of course but usually when I get messages like this after games the match was usually in their favor and they just got outplayed. I think its just salt.

I think this is it, they expect us to meme around and poke each other. Like mathematically no match should take 20 minutes

He marked me AND then walked to me and downed him without ever being revealed... fine? No way

Not to mention one shot downs in any form are considered OP by lower rank players.

He Doesn’t need a nerf at all, but if you buy into the Dev excuse of Ruin being changed for that reason GF would be next.

    Use spine chill.... You're welcome.

As someone who plays both sides, not even close. Maybe 1/5 solo games I play I’m teamed up with even 2 people together. And as killer I can tell by the other party’s perks and endgame arguing that they aren’t together that often. Nowhere near every game.

It's a hyperbole. In my opinion, I'm actually good at the game compared to most red ranks. I only play with other good players, so in my case 8 out of 10 games are escaped or pip'd on. So killers lose most games in my case, keyword "my". Hyperbole, an exaggeration to get to a point.

Someone escaping doesn’t mean the killer lost, killers can still pip with 3 kills... depending on rank even 1-2 if you hook enough

I thought the leaked update was incorrect and they weren't going to remove the ranks from the tally screen, as it's not in the PTB.

Really doesn’t matter at this pint. So many players are above what they should be because they never reset rank far enough, and it’s almost impossible to depip anymore especially as survivor.

May as well hide and or remove ranks

  • After this morning something new to add, feeding easy hooks and kills to a camping killer.

People complain about campers, but then they make it a viable strategy. If someone is hooked, the other 3 do gens, leave, and let the killer have 1 kill and a depip. Not feed him a 4K for winning one chase.

If a killer camps me, especially basement, I hope my team lets me hang there for two minutes.

  • Red rank survivors when I sooo queue are just bad half the time. Self caring jn a corner against sloppy, crouching for minutes at a time doing nothing, etc

  • @[Deleted User] said:

You're looping the killer around. You got this. You got 3 pallets you can use, a good jungle gym set up to extend the chase, and dead hard ready so you can press your get-out-of-jail-free button in case you mess up.

...Then this random ######### comes by thinking he's helping by looping with you for some reason instead of working on the generators, and of course sandbags you like, 4 times, causing you to get caught and downed.

The only thing worse than doing nothing is being a liability.

Right haha. We’ve all ran into a teammate once or twice I think, but over and over or intentionally UGH

DS and DH are fine. My only argument against DS is that as soon as you hook someone else that timer depletes cause it could be hell at end game. But that is just my opinion.

I feel like we keep saying change DS to deactivate once someone else gets hooked and it would be fine, because then it’s celery not tunneling.

But @Peanits swears if you done someone hook them, and then manage to make it and down the other person again and pick them up it’s still your fault...

  • @Scorp721 said:

Solo Survivor is terrible. It happens way too often that the last survivor to die has the least amount of points. They don't go for saves, they hardly work on gens, they just urban around the map and jump in a locker at the slightest hint of a heartbeat never to be seen again.

Can't even run We'll Make It anymore because people rather waste time running to a far off corner to heal even if someone is being chased when they get unhooked. "8 second heal?? Nah let me spend 30 seconds running to a corner, then 10 more seconds standing there to see if the killer followed me, and then spend upwards of 30 more seconds selfcaring."

Lol your healing comment is so true, even if they stay there they would rather self care for points and take forever.

Also about the least points, yeah I saw someone escape hatch with like 7700 points and tell the killer “get rekt.”

We all sided with the killer in that chat, dude you literally scored 700 points other than what you got from hatch escape for doing nothing all game.

  • I don’t think th Ruin nerf will change things as much as people say. Like you said it’s found so quickly that I buys you maybe 30 seconds of time people not working gens? A one shot down like Haunted ground can save you that much time chasing someone for example.

And yes, people still break totems even if there’s no Ruin I’ve been testing for about a week

I’m red ranks survivor and when I solo queue I mostly depip or black pip, meaning I don’t rank up. I don’t know how my team can be so lost of common sense. We are against a huntress, and I get chased. 1: My teams following me when they have no flashlights or firecrackers and that means no gens done 2: When I finally get downed and put on the hook, she finds all of them, though they end up putting me in struggle by staying in the area. When I get saved, the guy doesn’t have BT and I get downed. I use my DS and after running her for a whole 3 minutes, still no gens done and we all died. I later saw that they was rank 16’s, one rank 6, and I’m a rank 3. The huntress is a rank 2. Fix matchmaking and solo queue will be better.

BHVR: "We want survivors to interact with killers, so we'll give lots of points for that."

    Survivors: -Still focus on gens.-

BHVR: "We don't want survivors to focus solely on the objective, so we'll give them fewer points for gens."

Survivors: -Ignore the boring ass objective, even though it means dying.-

BHVR: "We also want to balance based on 2 killed, 2 escaped."

    Everyone: ...

Everyone: "What even is this game??"

This game has conflicting goals for its players, which is why point distribution and all that are so messed up. Sometimes I think DbD would be better off with some other kind of core gameplay, like "no gens, match is on a timer, last survivor standing wins; more than one survivor makes it to the end = killer lost." I mean, obviously not exactly that, but something other than gens as they are now.

Yep for both sides. So it’s hard to know what’s winning and losing. I mean in theory pipping up should be a “win,” but I’ve had games leading the killer on a three gen chases, doing the last two gens myself after losing him, but then black pip because I didn’t rescue someone? I’m sorry mike got hooked, getting punished for winning too devise ty like #########. Especially when you put all rank 1 survivors against a rank 15 killer with one perk.

That too, there are times to hide in a locker, most likely to hide from BBQ... but other than that survivors over use it. Like they run around a corner into a locker and think quick and quiet makes it perfectly fool proof. Uhm, no the scratch marks ended, I don’t see anyone in sight, there’s only one place you could be...

Then in post game chat they accuse me of cheating that I could see them

Sums up the solo experience. Got chased by a Billy earlier today. Looped him through the entire map till I lagged into a wall allowing him to chainsaw me after 2 minutes and 20 seconds. It takes 80 seconds / 1 min 20 seconds for one survivor to repair one gen which means about 4 gens were supposed to pop in that chase.

Instead only ONE generator popped just after I got hooked and I realized everyone's just crouching around. I got unhooked only seconds after Billy had left which obviously made him come back immediately. Afterwards he sent me a nice "ez" even though:

    - I play solo

    - with no items

    - no meta perks

    - I never tbag, use emotes or anything.

Spitting into the face of a skillful solo survivor. Way to go champ.

However I noticed that guy was running Ruin so there were have it. Another red rank killer that gets carried by Ruin. Plays completely clueless with no mindgames at all resulting in overly long chases and still wins thanks to Ruin.

This is why people need to play both sides equally as a solo. They will quickly realize playing killer may be stressful at times but at least the game depends solely on your own decisions rather than the decisions of 3 crouching hook farmers who unhook you behind the killer without borrowed just to Urban away immediately.

I don't think he got carried by Ruin, he got carried by bad survivors (your teammtes, not you) that don't do anything and play overly altruistic but in a stupid way.

I feel like I have to run DS now because I'm sick of getting unhooked in the killer's face with no BT and depipping in a two minute game.

Thing is, if no Survivor is really doing anything and is hiding, you will get no value. No broken Pallets, no chases, no Hits/Downs whatsoever. It is basically like the first two minutes of the game did not exist and it just starts when Corrupt Intervention is over.

And yes, this would be the most effective way to deal with Corrupt Intervention as Survivor, IF the Killer does not have Whispers. However, this will most likely not happen. It will most likely not happen that all 4 Survivors do nothing.

Like, I would not do that. I am in the game to play it and not to wait for two minutes before doing anything.

This is the thing, it will almost never happen that all 4 do this. If 2 hide and 2 start gens then what? You get to chase 1, 1 is actually working on a gen, and 2 are doing nothing except maybe cleansing dull totems... I will consider that a great perk even if it’s gone after two minutes and I’m down to three perks.

    @YaiPa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/992588#Comment_992588

Why is positive? The game lasts longer true, but if you don't achieve anything, then you didn't get anything from the perk.

If you’re on a set up killer it’s great setup time, if you’re on a mobile killer then after a couple loops you start to branch out a bit to catch someone hiding near a blocked gen, I guess in killers like Clown, Bubba etc you don’t get much.

Hey actually, you get two minutes toward Gatekeeper emblem and that is very important to killers according to BHVR

  • @YaiPa said:

if the time passes but as killer you didn't get anything from it (such as a hit, a hook) you wasted a perk slot. Stalling corrupt will become meta, survivors will just cleanse totems and hide.

Again you say this, but if it becomes meta for everyone to wait that is the same as All 4 survivors searching for Ruin for exactly two minutes and doing nothing else. True then you would be down to three perk slots but Even in its current state I think most killers would count that as a positive.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

I switched to Corrupt for both Huntress and Trapper since those are the only 2 killers I really use Ruin often.

For Huntress it's nice because it's less gens to patrol at the start meaning you can find survivors grouped up more and get more pressure going early.

For Trapper it's nice to have a space you can basically ignore when setting up traps.

Basically it shrinks the playing field for the first 2 minutes of the game.

Honestly if you want to try something to slow the game use Sloppy and Thana. It's actually really effective, just it takes a little time to get going. 1 or 2 gens will pop before you really get value out of it, but once everyone is injured you get a lot of breathing room as they will often focus on healing first.

I would even say Corrupt works well with Sloppy and Thana because it helps you find that first survivor or two and get early hits for early healing pressure. Make the fourth slot Nurse calling and you have tracking out of the gate too.

  • @MegaWaffle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/120098/everyone-will-just-wait-our-corrupt-intervention-uhm-no

I don't believe it will be a big problem (people waiting/hiding the 2m) unless it becomes a meme. However the survivors who struggled with Ruin (and apparently don't need to learn mechanics or get better) probably will simply hide for 2m and then complain Corrupt isn't fun to play against because they cannot do anything for 2m.

I'm not writing this to act high and mighty but to legitimately point out that these types of players will indeed be born from BHVRs catering.

Never thought of that, yes Corrupt could be considered unfun or a crutch perk because it leads you to the killer.

  • As a purple killer, was red before I went “survivor main,” I have run it a lot even before Ruin nerf announced. It doesn’t slow progress, but it means only 4 gens can be worked at the start so your patrol route is a lot smaller and you can push people off gens. It also helps finding that first survivor quicker.

As a survivor, it’s annoying because you spawn next to a gen and can’t work it so you know you have to go closer to the killer if you wanna do anything.

There are workarounds, some people will spend that two minutes just hunting chests and totems in that side of the map so you still won’t see them. But that means they aren’t popping gens either.

I started trying Whispers to just find people sooner, if you’re asking if you should buy and level a killer just for Corrupt I would day no. But it’s not a terrible idea.

The point as a Survivor is to waste the Killer's time though. Why would that ever be a bad thing? There should be ways to help lengthen a chase as a Survivor. By that logic, Spirit Fury/Enduring, or Nemesis/PWYF, should be nerfed, since they shorten chases. All exhuastion perks were already nerfed, with the very old exhaustion nerf, and BL was nerfed, so why nerf them even more?

I don’t think it should be nerfed, I was only guessing at his meaning honestly.

I agree, I use sprint burst because instead of getting caught at a gen I can get a boost to a loop, loop it once even, drop a pallet and move on. I’m not an expert looper at all but that simple routine can waste a good chunk of the killers time just for one hit. Then usually the speed boost from the hit can repeat the process.

All of a sudden a bad looper, me in my own words, has wasted a minute of the killer time which is huge if the team is doing gen... a big IF

And I feel like people would have no reason to quit now. Sure, if we see a player dip after the Ruin changes that's reasonable. But if anything I see people playing more now before Ruin gets actually changed.

Killer has always been hard. No reason to quit now over anytime before, when MoM was a thing for example. I would be way more tempted to quit back then with that busted perk than now.

Good points, honestly all good points you’ve made and a lot of other people have made so far. I’m glad there’s no ugly arguing, without proof we just have to guess and your points do make yours sound like the likely case.

I still feel that the Ruin change and they way they worded the PTB release, constantly mentioning how they wanted to make it more fun for survivors, may have been the last straw for some people.

Persoally I used to be 90/10 killer, now I’m more 50/50 not because killer is harder but because survivor challenges me in a whole different way actually almost feels like a second game.

Thing is, we have no reason whatsoever to believe that's the case.

Since we had the exact same problem on the survivor side before the matchmaking changed, why are we just assuming killers are quitting when nothing besides angry people threatening to leave (which happens every single day, even without any changes) supports that?

Do we just assume people were quitting from survivor before the matchmaking changed too? A lot, and I mean a lot of people were saying they didn't play survivor anymore, but no one took that seriously. Just like I'm not taking empty threats from killer players seriously now.

We don’t have numbed to back up either way, as far as reason I think some people left or quit killer because it’s hard or at least they feel it’s hard... do I agree, no but I can see it make people quit.

The problem is matchmaking is so bugged right now it’s hard to know anything if you ask me
