I think we shouldn't draw any conclusions before the changes go live, honestly. Don't care about what fog whisperers have to say, at the end of the day we play the game too and it's not like they know stuff that we don't. The fog whisperers are a group of people that have helped this game grow thanks to their content and that's basically it.
Except they do often know things we don't, BHVR releases some info to them and asks for them to come to the offices for input. They aren't the be all end all, but they do still have something extra.

I hardly see self care in high ranks, it's always Inner Strength, or Med Kits.
There are just sooo many people in red ranks that you see things you used to only see at low ranks. It’s almost impossible to depip as survivor now unless you get tunneled or face camped immediately

Selfcare takes 1 person and 32 seconds.
Otherwise 2 person 16 seconds.
Same amount of time.
One takes a perk slot,other takes another survivor. I m fine with giving a perk for reliable heal source.
Its also goes well with my goals. I run we r gonna live 4ever and bt. I want safe unhooks and get killer on me instead of the guy just unhooked. If i can get stacks and a decent amount of bloodpoint i m golden.
I’m all good with people running it, I mean there are way worse perks people use even that I use I’m sure!
I admit I think people use it at the wrong time and give it a bad reputation

This. If you don't agree with this guy, you probably lack brain cells.
LOL this guy wants freedom to run his choice of perks, fair enough, then you say if you don't agree you lack brain cells LOL
I would rather bring a medkit honestly, but even when I don't I just go without the heals I like other perks better for time efficiency.

Uhm, yeah I see red rank survivors self caring against Legions pretty regularly. Nice bait mate

The way it works is that if any survivor is shocked by Static Blast or Shock Therapy, they gain the static charge; UNLESS that survivor is within 4 meters of another survivor during the same shock event.
When two survivors who do have a charge walk within 4 meters of each other, it does the same thing as a single Shock Therapy event. I presume that if you're running Iridescent King, it would just apply one random effect. It wouldn't transfer.
Also, it doesn't say, but being downed or hooked does not get rid of the charge. The charge remains until another survivor goes within 4 meters of the charged survivor, no matter what state.
Ok that’s about what I was guessing but always appreciate another opinion

OP specifically mentioned not getting points for struggling. Everything else I said still stands. It's a pointless waste of time which factored over millions of played games means millions of wasted player minutes.
So you would be in favor of a change where once all survivors are inside the exit gate the game ends? I mean why wait 30 seconds for them to teabag until the killer comes over?

and? Jump off. Get hit because who leaves the last hook. Also because you can be hit the second you land but can't use DH then.
Bring yourself up because unbreakable. Get hit again right away. Wait the rest of the 20 seconds. You also can't use DH the second you get up from nomither and unbreakable. However, you can be hit the second you stand.
You brought not only crutches, but an electric wheel chair, a ramp, and paid extra for the wheels that can climb stairs only for them to remove the stairs entirely.
Replace DH with sprint burst and this changes things.

Depending on how they played i "might" let them off and out. If they were toxic little brats. Forget it. Back on the hook with a few head nods. Play nice or as nice as is possible - i dont mind FL as that is what you chose - and if you kobe ill let ya. Nobody ever lets me out when i kobe.
Speaking of kobe.....RIP
This too, there are times I hook someone last for the first time. I want to give them hatch, but I also want my stack of BBQ do why joy let them have a chance to escape?
Im already playing a game lol one extra minute isn’t wasting my life.
@Dreamnomad said:
If you are the last survivor and you are on a hook the game is over. That is why. It can't be explained any simpler than that. Anything you could potentially do is just a waste of time. Butt hurt survivors would sit there and go through the entire sacrifice process just to waste the killer's time. The one in a million chance that you use Deliverance followed by dead hard to get to a hatch before getting caught isn't worth every game having an extra 1-3 minutes added on.
Not 1-3 minute, just 1 for first stage. Second stage would still not allowed struggle because at that point the survivor can’t get off the hook themselves.
-
@Elvenmonk said:
because you'd just be hunted down and killed. At that point the game is over.
Also if you spam space you can get some points for struggle.
I run DS, DH and unbreakable I have a chance of hatch is close
I don’t really care much, but it’s a good point why is that one person denied any chance? They just get one hooked and bye

Odds are, if those were reported properly in the bug reports section, they're on the to-do list. As much as we'd like to snap our fingers and fix every single bug in one update, that's just not possible. Each one takes time to log, find, and fix. It's not a matter of picking favourites just because your specific bug was not addressed yet.
But the Decisive Strike Doctor big was fixed almost immediately... you can see why people say survivor bias right?

That might be far the most skewed way to determines a games success I've ever heard of. I've bought this game with all of its DLC 4 or 5 times over now. I actually am sitting on 3 sets of this game with all of DLC right now. I give these keys to new friends, streamers to do giveaways, or friends of friends.
A stat like how many copies sold just tells you how many people bought the game? How many of those copies were bought as gifts that people never decided to start playing? how many of those copies were returned? Is that number based of just one system or them all? (Yes I know your 150k number is made up as I believe DBD hit 3 million copies sold a year or so back).
My point is you shouldn't judge a game on the number of copies sold, it needs to be based on how many people are playing over a time period. Yes I would be more concerned about the games state if I was seeing a decline in the number of players playing the game. But the stat's don't back that up, they actually counter it. The game actually has grown an average of 666.7 players a month.
Sure that is no Fortnite success, but its not actually a failing number either. I actually find it funny that the average player base increased by 666 players each month for the last 6 months.
In regards to the growth, again if you wanna be a numbers person check WoW subscriptions numbers around the period I described. Numbers were growing despite competition coming out so people claimed WoW was better than ever... til about 6 kJ this later when the decline started because of poor decision making.
The number of things BHVR has done to the players, and I’m not talking anything specific to either side like Killer buffs or nerfs or survivor perk nerfs, just the whole game player base is growing. There will be a final straw that starts the decline, I fear it’s coming sooner rather than later, and again unlike some other games DBD does not have a big enough playerbase to absorb any significant decljne. The remaining player base may not be able to keep the game alive long enough to right the shop by that point.
Think I’m over dramatic if you want but I’ve seen it happen before and I havw seen these same discussions from both sides at that time. If we don’t learn from history, yada yada

I mean just going off steam charts which doesn't even include GRDK users but also doesn't include xbox, PS4 or switch users, The game has averaged around 20k players with peaks between 30-40k average.
Yes there have been a few months where it dropped by 6 months ago it was an average of 19k average and a peak of 28k. In December it was 23k average and 38k peak. Within the last 30 days alone its 24k average and 44.5k peak.
Now just compare this to Death Gardens Highest point being 1k average players with 6k peak.
Basically you can't compare the two. All DBD has ever done is grown, Death Garden just never caught on. And to compare it to WoW which actually has a decrease in play base is a dishonor, since DBD actually grows in numbers currently. Yes, one day this game is going to fail, but I don't foresee that within the next year.
I don't know if you played WoW at all, especially during it's peak but you could almost see that same theory in the forums at that time.
During WotLK the game had it's highest sub count ever and was growing, but they made numerous changes that the player base could see was bad for the long term life of the game. So at that time people said, "WoW is dying I don't think so the player base grew this year." So yes it was growing, but that was the end of the growing and then it started to slide.
Think about it this way, DBD will have that slide, even you admit that I think? And whenever that slide starts they don't have nearly the amount of players that WoW did. Blizzard could afford to lose half their player base and still have 6 million subs. If DBD lose half of their average you're looking at 12k players how do you think that will be for the queues and the game health?
-

I feel like it’s all about the money now. A lot of streamers (some even fog whisperers) think the game was in a better state 3 years ago. Not really as far as “balance” more so of the mindset the devs had about trying to make the game more fun and les about a quick dollar.
@brokedownpalace said:
Didn't Deathgarden barely last a few months? DBD is years old and still going strong. Please stop the overly dramatic hot takes.
Going strong is open to interpretation. That's like saying WoW is still going strong because it has 5 million players. Failing to see it had 11 million at one point.

The problem with this is that people need to see something that shows that the system in place is actually working (like MMR or an actual rating instead of ranks). Trusting the developers on this when they are hiding something probably won't work for a lot of people, because psychologically it doesn't matter that you are hiding the ranks because they don't get used in matchmaking anymore, it still suggests that you have "something to hide".
The other thing about the new way to determine your skill is that it is basically impossible to do, as there is almost an infinite amount of variables that would need to be taken into account and there are simply too many to make it work.
I've looked through several discussions that Devs have commented on and I couldn't find a single one where a Dev replied to this concern. Is it because you don't have an answer to that (which is understandable because it is practically impossible to do) or is it because you are not allowed to share any details (understandable too because if people knew what exactly to do they'd just try to do only those things)?
I'd refer to ScottJunds latest video, he explains the situation quite well there.
Let's be honest, the majority of people think that the reason they aren't telling us is so we can never say it's working incorrectly.

No, that's definitely low skill.
And if it rewards those things and not the way you prefer to play, then just keep playing like you always do, and then it should match you more and more with people who play like you do.
I say "should" as i don't know, i'd have to test that as well.
True. Honesty I don’t think they care much about skill, rank or anything else when it comes to matchmaking anymore which is why they’re hiding it.
Well probably end up with random rank/skill teammates and killers every game anyways

@twistedmonkey said:
I feel the used the term skill based as its a known one many use.
Right now the emblems are what they use to determine ranking and I think they may well use the same system or something tweaked but similar.
From my perspective this is just a way to make matchmaking faster as it could be 4 or 5 pools of players instead of 20 ranks.
If you just wanna throw 400 survivors and 100 killers into a pool and make the fairest lobbies possible I’m on board for that! It’s this extra hidden stuff that makes me and others uneasy and nervous.

-
Uhm, right away NO. You’re saying escaping is a win and not escaping is a loss. So if 3 players do all the chases and gens but die while the fourth hides in a locker for ten minutes and then takes hatch he gets rewarded and they lose a point?

That's not the only thing of which there's not enough information.
There's also the actual implementation, PTB or live, that's missing.
If i can't test it, then i can't know for myself.
I don’t know how it can be tested, I mean how will you know if the teammates you have are the same skill level as you without seeing what they’re doing. I mean if you do 3 gens and nothing else pops while Bond shows you two hiding teammates you think they suck right? But do they, or does the new skill system reward avoiding chases and escaping?

@hinoutoumei said:
skill is just as weird as winning. what is winning? is winning escaping the match? is winning sacrificing all 4 survivors? no it is not. you can literally escape the match and lose rank, you can literally sacrifice all 4 survivors..and lose rank. to me winning in this game is getting as much emblem points as possible before the match ends.
the whole concept of what it means to be good at this game, to win a match shouldn't be viewed in the same regard as any other pvp game. contrary to what streamers are saying..you actually can be the first person on hook, the only person sacrificed..and still 2 pip the match..i should know..i've done it multiple times. As a killer, you can get 1 sacrifice, and still get merciless, i should know.i've done it at least once.
literally everything you do in this game is based off a metric, and these metrics are associated with your individual role. There seems to be a lot of fuss over each killer having their own rank also.. but in all honesty this is great.
Think outside the box here people. I know a lot of us don't often appreciate the changes they make to this game, but in all honesty, this isn't one of those changes worth whining about if you stop to think about it.
Mathematically it’s not possible to double pip with 1 kill unless you’re talking about green or yellow ranks.
-
@toxicmegg said:
i actually like the new system and hope it's gonna work. ppl would stop tryharding for ranks, Q times would be shorter and there's a 50/50 chance to get players the same skill level as you. meaning, you PROBABLY would win 50% of your games which is pretty much how it should be. If the new system is launched, dbd would be more relaxed and not competitive :)
What is the same skill level though, it’s hidden so they won’t say what is “skillful.” Is camping hooks for 2 kills the same as multiple chases for 1 kill? Is doing 1 gen, 1 save and 1 long chase the same skill as 4 gens and the door with no chases or altruism?
@Boss said:
I'm not believing anything yet, good or bad.

@Blueberry said:
All it's going to achieve is covering up the problem without actually fixing it.
This is their plan, I guess somehow they think their player base is too dumb to figure that out?
Its like playing DnD with a DM you can’t trust who has you fight a purple cloud. You have no clue what it’s AC or attack is so he can just say you hit or miss it as much as he wants, and it can damage or kill you anytime because of “hidden skill.”
-
@xllxENIGMAxllx said:
All we know is that this system will also fail. I've never seen any competitive games hidding your skill rating. Rainbow six siege have one of the best competitive system and show your skill rating with a emblem (from copper to diamond). Skill can be feel when ranking up.
Skill rating should be seen and should show how much you need to rank up your skill rating or something like that. Rewards at seasons end increase as high as you are in the skill bracket. I also think that BHVR should make a casual mode.
It makes me sad to think how much time they put into this, how great they must actually think it is, and what kind of reaction they were expecting... they probably hoped for all kinds of “hooray thanks for fixing it,” threads and instead they get people smart enough to see through it.

Sorry, thought I was answering to another thing (it was on another topic about the subject were I stated that I don't think the changes will be good and explained why).
But answering to this one, never mind the last response since it was based on something else:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1042306#Comment_1042306
I understand what you're saying here, but you are also basing yourself on one game only. What I meant with my answer was that if they confirm the system is working fine and you find a Meg that performs poorly and all other games you find people that perform more or less like you, than you know for yourself that that Meg probably had a bad match and the system is working. If you constantly find yourself playing with what seems to be alot better or a lot worse players than you, then you know the system doesn't work properly.
BUT, even if the last one happens, lets say you are constantly being paired up with people that are worse than you making you "lose" almost every match, you have the legitimacy to say that killers are too strong or too weak because the devs stated that the system is working.
For what I meant by legitimacy it is irrelevant if the system is working fine or not, what is relevant is if the devs consider it fine or not because of what i said in the last paragraph ;).
You’re right about that, you need to look at multiple games but what do you mean by “perform more or less like you?” We go back to the root problem of not knowing what is considered skillful.
Again a few examples, you lead the killer on a 7 minute chase (extreme) to start the game during which two survivors do all the gens and open a gate. You get hooked any everyone bails on you so you die. Exactly how “skilled,” was everyone? On a scale of 1-10 how do you get ranked? The two people who did gens? The last person who literally crouched all game but escaped? Now keep in mind your rating may not be the same as BHVR and they won’t tell us.
Now let’s look at a totally even game, everyone does a little more than 1 gen worth of progress, gets chased about 2 minutes total and everyone manages 1 safe unhooks then you all escape. Did the order of chases matter? If I got chased first and used all the pallets then you had to rely on looping windows for the same length of time shouldn’t you be considered more skillful?
How about your perks, if I played DS BT DH and adrenaline but you ran a goofy plunder, ace, open handed and no mither are we equal skill? I would argue you are more skillful because my perks carried me whereas yours almost hurt you.
-
@asergioam said:

That’ why I said it is impossible to have a perfect ranking system. We just wanted a better one that could be adjusted after adjusting the matchmaking.
Ando no, everything is not hidden, in the current ranking system you know exactly what needs to be done to rank up. It will be hidden in the new MMR system but not in the current one.
But you’re saying once they confirm the skill system works we can ask for buffs/nerfs how will we know the skill system is working fine?
Let me wan you through a scenario and you tell me your thoughts, I’m open for feedback. you’re going to play a game and notice two of your teammates are potatoes, but the killer is really good and so is one other teammates. So do you think the MMR is working based on this game?
If you say no, why? It’s possible those potato teammates Are SWF if the good player. It’s possible they are good but are screwing around for some reason like a Rift challenge or maybe they’re a streaming doing something like Puppers playing blindfolded.
My point is that you can never be sure if it’s working or not, and while like you said currently the emblem system is right there the new skill system will be hidden. So you can never actually prove to the devs if it isn’t working, therefore it never needs “fixed.”

They never said they would never remove ranks. I also read the hole thing and they stated that they would not remove the ranks with last week's patch as it was first intended so they didn't lie... the ranks are still shown.
About your last frase/question... are you seriously asking that?! How will you know? The same way you know it now, by playing and analyzing by yourself ofcourse! If you get payred up with players a lot worst than you or a lot better than you you will notice it. If you get paired up with players with more or less the same skill level than you, you will notice it too... Once they confirm the skill system is working fine, you will have all the legitimacy to ask for nerfs and buffs! In my view, it's a win/win situation!
Except there are at least two problems with that . First they can just say, “well yes Meg played poorly on your team but her last 10 games she was very skillful so this must have been a bad game for her it happens.”
And that leads to the bigger problem, what did Meg do so skillfully the past 10 games? Did she escape and do gens because her team carried her? Did she play against a lot of killers trying to farm blood points or trying weird challenges?
The problem is everything is hidden, including what is considered skillful in the first place.

@BenZ0 said:
You are right, the idea of the system makes sense but I think it cant be applied to Dbd. ScottJund is right there, if a survivor is dropping every pallet on the map and wasting like that the Killers time but in the end all pallets on the map are used, is the surivvor now good because he was a long time in the chase? My personal defintion of a good Killer or Survivor are these:
Survivor:
- Wasting as much time as possible in a chase
- Saving as much pallets as possible and using them smart
- Doing gens if you are not busy doing something else
- Healing and Unhooking savely
- Protecting teammates
- Counter the power of the Killer (Revealing Ghostface, Disarm Traps, Not cleansing against plague)
Killers:
- Stalling the game as much as possible by protecting gens
- Injure and Down as much and fast as possible
- Hook or Kill as many as possible
- Ensure to keep pressure by keeping survivors busy at healing, unhooking etc
- Map awareness, protecting a specific side of a map to have a tactical advantage
- Mindgames
- Know when to drop a chase
- Using the Killer well with the most of his potential
- Know when to tunnel, camp or slugg
A good list, I think it demonstrates why it can’t be automated though. I’ll pick one example you used on each aide.
As a survivor counter the killer power. Right away this will be different against every killer which is unfair. To counter a trapper do you have to Disarm traps or just avoid hitting them? Does getting downed by two M1 hits count as countering the Oni’s ability since technically he didn’t use it against you?
As killer you can watch a game and know that camping/tunneling was correct for some reason but can an automated system know? Or will it just base it on proximity of other players?
-
@Stompa said:
first they have to implement it, sounds like a lot of pr mumbo jambo to me, no specifics and avoiding at any cost what is the cause of it. nothing will change but they have the excuse for missmatched ranks created ( rank 20 vs rank 1 duh but the rank 20 played with skill )
That is EXACTLY why they’re doing it. You can be paired with anyone and their reply will be, “those players are equal skill but maybe they were having a bad game,” or something similar.
This is their way to hide all ranks, throw everyone in one giant queue, and hope the game doesn’t die.
-
@OmegaXII said:
Right now, a survivor needs 3 hooks to die. So that's total 12 hooks maximum.
What if all survivors share the 12 hooks as health? For example, hooking a survivor costs 1 health from total 12.
But once the 8 healths are used, starting from 9, survivors will die on hook until all the remain health are used, meaning all survivors die at the end.
So basically the same survivors can be on hook for 8 hook state before he dies
IMO this can completely remove camping and tunnelling from the game, and the game can be balanced more easily.
What happens if someone DCs as they get downed, before being hooked does that count as a hook or 3 hooks?
-
@Peanits said:
Not sure if you skipped to the end, but matchmaking and ranking are both being completely changed. Yes, ranks will be hidden at some point, but only because they are not going to be used for matchmaking. Instead, we'll be using a different method to track skill (independent of emblems) and matching you based on that.
Oh we read it, but we have no PROOF that our game is against players of comparable skill. We don’t even know what “skillful play,” is... is going gens and hitting great skills skill? Is a long chase dropping pallets considered less skillful than a long chase without using pallets? Is hiding all game and escaping hatch skillful?
You won’t ever tell us, this will all be hidden so all we have is your word that the system is working.

Cote used to be really bad at killer but to his credit I saw him on stream last year and he had improved a fair bit. Not a pro but nowhere near as green as he used to be.
I think he was playing old Freddy which suited him better. He used to play Hag a lot but never used traps, just chased. With that playstyle he’s far better off with someone at 115% speed.
Also he’s like the only green rank that doesn’t rely on NOED. Don’t think he used Ruin either. “No crutches Cotè” they called him. So credit where it’s due.
Not using crutches and getting 0-1 kill doesn't make you a good killer.

Ok, I'm coming at you with some hard love.
If you're struggling with Killer and finding yourself leaning towards the road of becoming a Survivor-main or perhaps you've thrown in the towel and given up altogether, this is for YOU!
First, let's start off with one major important and observable fact: playing Survivor is easier than playing Killer from a purely gameplay standpoint.
Why is this significant?
If we're honest, I think most people would agree that we want to 'win' every game, but more importantly, we want the opportunity to win every game. In DbD, there are no official win conditions. Instead, we have to base our performance off of the ranking system if we want some way to measure our performance. We could get into endless debates about ranking. Let's avoid that for the sake of discussion, but let me just say, I do believe the ranking system needs work.
To my point, most people play Survivor because they are experiencing favorable outcomes more often than when they play killer, because playing Killer is way more difficult than playing Survivor, because they want to play with friends, but ultimately because it's just more fun to play. There's more reward with way less work. There's greater potential for favorable outcomes with less pressure. By nature, we want easy, we want victory, we don't like losing (who does?), and we certainly don't like to be made fun of when we have a bad result.
Ok, so here's what I believe separates Survivor-mains from Killer-mains: Mindset.
I'm just going to say it: if you've given up on Killer, you're probably weak-minded. Chances are you're dwelling on all of the negative aspects of playing Killer. You're most likely setting unrealistic expectations for yourself. You're definitely letting the toxic teabagging get to you. As a customer, you're upset about the perceived unbalances of the game. Just negativity all in your head.
Sure, I think a lot of the complaints are valid. I mean personally, I think the game should live up to its namesake. I personally believe escaping a match should be rare; after all, is called DEAD by Daylight.
I also believe that we can all complain until the cows come home, but the reality is as long we continue to play the game and buy the DLC, the devs will see no real justifications for changing the game. You have to complain with your time and money.
If you want to play killer and have fun, here are a few tips to help strengthen your competitive mindset.
1) Pat yourself on the back for wanting to play the hardest aspect of this game. It takes guts to play killer.
2) Stop being unrealistic. Don't insist on getting a 4k every match.
3) Stop dwelling on all of the disadvantages that you have, whatever you perceive them to be. If you get a giant map, just do your best and know that even at your best, some maps are just ridiculous.
4) Accept that maybe you just suck or got out played. Try to pinpoint failures and ways to avoid them. Get better at the game.
5) Practice. See point #4.
6) Don't play by made-up Survivor rules. The survivors that made up those rules are all carrying D-Strike and any other perk that helps them survive. They will body-block, flashlight, borrowed all day without a shred of pity. Show mercy on YOUR terms.
7) Foster the ability to maintain a positive mental attitude during and after the game regardless of the outcome. This is key. You have to strengthen your mental attitude or else you're going to end up a sore loser who always caves under pressure and quits when things get tough. In other words, you'll be a Survivor-main.
8) Ignore Toxic Behavior even when you see it. Toxic people are weak-minded. Imagine the evil of enjoying someone else's misfortune. Don't reciprocate evil for evil.
9) Don't shy a way from a challenge. In fact, embrace difficulty and develop pleasure in the hardship. Say to yourself: "this is going to be ridiculously hard, but that's how I roll".
10) It's just a video game. You know you love it even with all it's bugs and endless controversies.
11) Bonus: create mini victories for yourself in-game. Like little silly goals while you're playing. For example, see how many Survivors you can injure in the first 60 seconds or try to slug one while another is on hook. Just little achievable victories to boost your confidence and help you find the positives. Avoid running Hex perks; there's just something about hearing that explosion and seeing your perk destroyed (except Haunted) that will crush your spirits.
12) Play a variety of Killers. Don't listen to the noise of who's viable. It's better to have experience with multiple kinds of Killers and rotate between them to avoid various map disadvantages. Plus, it definitely makes it interesting and less boring overtime.
Go play killer. It's probably why you bought the game in the first place.
~ Sincerely
A former Survivor-main
Yep it’s game and I play to have fun

I would think DS needs nerfed first, it’s almost impossible to play around. DH you can bait, in which case the most they get out of it is dead hard for distance sometimes reaching a pallet

Uninstall previous ReShade installs.
After that go to: ~Steam\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight\DeadByDaylight\Binaries\Win64 folder and make sure that the file DefaultPreset.ini is NOT there, if it is delete it.
You want DBD to not be running when you do this.
Run ReShade install and click "select game or application to manage its reshade install"
Find and select: DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping (DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping.exe)
Click "Direct3d 10/11/12"
Page opens with list of effects leave them all selected and simply click "ok" - It will then download them all which only takes a few seconds.
Now click the top "Edit ReShade settings" button.
Second line from the the top "Effects Path" click the ... on the far right of that line and a Select Folder box will open, now navigate to the folder ~Steam\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight\DeadByDaylight\Binaries\Win64\reshade-shaders\ and then click on the Folder "Shaders" that is located there and click "Select folder"
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/223/A9ZN0LMHAWHA.jpg
Third line from the top "Textures Path" click the ... on the far right on that line and and a Select Folder box will open, now navigate to the folder ~Steam\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight\DeadByDaylight\Binaries\Win64\reshade-shaders\ and then click on the Folder "Textures" that is located there and click "Select folder"
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/224/I7Q158C8PAPN.jpg
If done correctly it should look like this
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/374/O23KJ0JDT1VR.jpg
Click Ok. Then you can exit out of the ReShade box and fire up DBD.
Thanks again, played two games as survivor and the scratches are much better especially from a distance.

Darn. Still crashes for me. But thank you for taking the time to do that, I'm glad it worked for the other person!
Booooo!

One quick questions is there a way to toggle it on and off so I can compare it to original DBD quickly?

Yeah right, Like all the majority of potato survivors and killers alike claims.. "I'm on the Red Ranks" without showing proof.. Yeah right Buddy.. I believe your BS Fairy tale story..
Okay cool

Then it only shows your skill about this game.. You should be stuck with potato survivors vice versa because that's where your skill belong.. Because you got 2-3 Gens Popping left and right on Red Ranks in a minute even before you find your first survivor or even have your first hook..
I don't even know what this means, my skill? I am in red ranks and players still stealth around because getting to red ranks is so easy now.

Uninstall ReShade completely and I'll re-install mine and take screenshots of the steps to take and I'm sure it's just a matter of missing something that's causing your problem.
I had issues the very first time as well because I didn't understand one part of it and was doing it wrong.
Thank you I uninstalled it you can DM me if you want
-
To clarify I install it, open DBD, then install it again?

So if you open the installer again and get to the point where it says "edit" that's where you can select the effects.
Ok so I have DBD open first?
-
I’m confused if I zap someone with King and they get a random effect, does that stay with them Th e whole game or does it go away when they snap out of it
-
Maybe I'm stupid but i ran the installation but when I open DBD I don't see any options? I watched the you tube I found for it but it just says press home to open the folder but there is no folder

So I'm getting a crash upon launch after installing the latest version. Not sure how to fix it. I wanted to try installing a previous version to see if that worked, but can't find how to dl. Any suggestions?
Does this help
Crash on startup
- Reshade setup tool has stopped working
From reshade 4.4, the setup tool was updated to .NET Framework 4.8
You need to download the latest .NET Framework version in order to make the setup tool work.

I'm not at home but I believe for Colorfullness default is .70 I use .15 and technicolor I just increased the red from 51 to 61. I'll check and let you know in a couple hours when home.

Both ReShade and Freestyle are white listed by EAC and have been for like a couple of years.
Thank you I’ll fiddle myself too but I would appreciate your number, no rush!
