As someone who started playing in december I like prime Plague skin since I didn't wouldn't have it otherwise.

400k BP it's just too low, 2m BP I would understand or 20k shards also, but 400k BP it's like a code.

All rift cosmetics end up in the store eventually so we’ll see that outfit made available to the general public for a 3rd time.

  • Because I don't want to depip/get barely any bp just because the killer's a sore loser. Killers afk in a corner are no better than survivors who dc/suicide on hook but I guess the forums aren't ready for that conversation.

I've had maybe 4-5 games where the hatch has spawned at my feet leaving me like "well...that sucks for them."

And then when you actually want to give the last survivor hatch you end up spending 20 minutes trying to find the damn thing.

I remember one of my first games as ghost face I had this Laurie who ran me really well so out of respect I wanted to give her hatch. I left her slugged to try and find it, then came back and tried to find it while carrying her, and in the end forced her to wiggle off so she could help me look. I didn’t realise at the time it could spawn on the edge of the map on backwater swamp. 😭

It's been quite fun watching the series so far (been watching JRM view). I think they have a good chance of getting it for a couple reasons.

It seems that James and Ayrun understand more this year how the challenge works and how hard it is, but also, it seems that Dowsey and Otz aren't as strict with them (telling them focus or getting frustrated when they mess around/meme). There seems to be more trust in each other's abilities which is good for when James gets bored.

The keeping items from last match has also helped them because James and Ayrun do quite well in chase with flashlights as well as getting saves. I find this change fair because it took time to plunder those items and the rng to get them, also that's how the base mechanic works. You escape with the item, you get to keep it for next trial. It also takes skill to use them, more skill than a medkit so if the survivor is good, I find it fair game.

They're all amazing at survivor and knowing macro gameplay definitely will get them far as a swf. I think they'll struggle against certain killers, like instadown killers in end game who are actually really good, but that's when they know to cut their losses. Just shows what a powerful coordinated swf is capable of.

The stream delay definitely seems like it's helping them not get sniped. I feel like if they didn't have this delay, they would run risk of this just because how hyped up the season was, especially because a lot of people hate on Dowsey for their own reasons. A lot of spiteful people in the world, so hopefully they'll continue to dodge cheaters/snipers.

I'm excited to see if they get it, it will definitely be more of a struggle for them once they start hitting iri grades and the pip requirements are stricter. I feel like Otz and Dowsey might have some problems getting them because of their chaser not being good enough for higher grades, but in theory games should also get harder where everyone will need to take equal amount of chase so it should be fine... right?

I also love how James was like, I would rather have dead hard than sprint burst XD

I also noticed they had a lot more trust in each other! Especially with JRM wanting to get holes like they joked about it but when it actually came to getting that swamp map or getting the game they just trusted that he wouldn't throw the game for it and he proved himself.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I didn't get to watch much of day 2, but I watched day 1 in full. Cracked me up when JRM said something like 'I can see you're stressed Otz' and he's just watching Otz/Zarina run back and forth frantically as that Myers camps Ayrun LOL

Yeah, the contrast between Otz and Dowsey stressing while Ayrun and JRM are doing spins and dumb techs is part of what I think makes it work so well. I'm not really into competitive DBD as pure sweat games aren't really fun for me to watch or play, but it's nice that although they're going to need to sweat you also have it mixed in with the funnier moments.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Tbh I don’t find the series enjoyable to watch the first couple of streams. It’s just too easy for them. Dowsey tries to hype up the games with his “OMG my heart is racing” commentary but it never really looks like they’re in much danger. You can tell Otz legitimately feels sorry for some of the killers they’re facing as well. But this is “me” issue rather than them. I’m looking forward to when they consistently get tough matches.

The three killers I would love to see them face are a cracked nurse, a camping Bubba and a tombstone Myers. I’d be fascinated to see what tactics they use.

Oh yes! I remember the tombstone myers from last season! It was actually really funny that Otz was convinced it wasn't tombstone, just for him to get mori'd himself. I wonder if that experience will make them more wary. Also yeah as one of them pointed out they haven't faced a bubba yet so I look forward to seeing how they manage against that.

  • People saying 'welcome to how killers have felt' are completely missing the point. Solo queue was always at the bottom of the food chain with killers above and swf above that. This patch just made things even harder for solo queue, especially new players who don't have thousands of hours in the game and mmr high enough to expect somewhat competent teammates.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/329271/i-just-wanna-say-thank-you-to-the-wholesome-killers-this-event

❤️ Aww is so nice when survivors tell me that they were able to complete a challenge thanks to my help! I love playing friendly during the event.

Also thanks to those survivors who understand the friendly gestures. I played as a friendly Ghostface and was called "noob killer" 🥴

I mainly use Ghostface and Wraith for friendly matches and some survivors are good laughs.

I love when people tell you you helped with a challenge! I had a ghostface a few months ago who spent a solid minute trying to grab me off a gen. I figured if he was willing to throw a game trying to get a grab it was probably for a good reason and let him. He hooked me, I got off with deliverance, we teabagged each other and then he chilled with me while I finished the gen. I then slow vaulted a pallet so he could grab me again. He let me wriggle off by the gate and in post game they were super sweet and thanked me for helping them get a grab challenge. I hope that player is having a good event!

  • I had a game yesterday against a pig who was clearly struggling. 2 or 3 gens popped before she even injured anyone (tbh I thought it was an afk killer). And even though it was solo queue we all seemed to agree to slow down on gens and when we had one left we just 99'd them. We had fun just running her, taking hits, unhooking, getting wglf stacks, cleansing totems, etc. What would have been a 1 hook game for her became a 8 hook game (1 dead, 2 on death, 1 with 1 hook). Everyone ended the game with 25k-32k points and although everyone was console so I couldn't ask, I like to think everyone, especially the killer, had a good game.

Up until that point I'd had non-stop frustrating games with sweaty killers and useless teammates. It was really nice having a team that were all on the same page (a David with one hook took a down to prevent her killing a Mikaela on death hook) and a killer who wasn't training for a $10 tournament. It doesn't really cost you much, on either side, to slow things down a bit if your opponent is struggling. You have more fun and get more bloodpoints - at least, that was my experience.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3003499#Comment_3003499

So? If you have one bad experience you should prepare for that same experience to happen again, especially when we all know the odds of the big three meta perks being used by a survivor. If you knew every killer was going to run NOED wouldn’t you are your buddies not want to have a Totem Aura perk? I saw the way they played and recognized that this event should be treated like the last. Going in hard and getting as many blood points as possible. Especially so I can help level killers that don’t do well.

My first game of the event was a facecamping tunnelling bubba who hit everyone on hook.

My friend and I were like '######### was his problem?' and then moved on to the next game. We didn't teabag the next killer, we didn't bring a full meta sweat build, we just continued playing as we had before. We played against a variety of killers from sweaty meta nurses slugging at 5 gens to chill legions who just wanted to get that one insta down add on to work (aka we farmed with them).

Just play the game and stop treating your opponent as a monolith who're all out to get you. I understand sweaty meta builds are frustrating but continuing the cycle doesn't help anyone. I feel like this community would really benefit from being less assuming of people's intentions. Cakes/puddings during events aren't inherently selfish, people could just be trying to use them up before prestiging. A survivor queueing up in lobby with a flashlight isn't inherently malicious, some challenges literally require them and heck most people don't even know how to use them correctly (myself included, but I'll never bother learning because I don't want to get tunnelled out of a game just because there's some unwritten rule against them). A killer proxycamping a hook after the gens are done aren't trying to ruin the game, at that point there's nowhere else for them to logically go.

Just idk some food for thought. It's a video game. If you're not having fun maybe just log off for a bit instead of trying to take it out on the next person. This isn't directed entirely at you OP, just the community in general. I also think people would really benefit from playing both sides more so they can empathise a little more.

  • I used to drag people for this too but I had 4 cakes on haddie to use up before I could prestige her, so now I just assume people have similar reasons to be using escape cakes/survivor puddings.

    Moris on the other hand...

  • Everyone here complaining about how long it's taking them to kick gens meanwhile 40 skillchecks is doable in a 1-3 games...

I did the community challenge first and it literally only took me a couple of matches. While I'm waiting for everyone else to catch up I'm doing the survivor and killer personal challenges.

I understand it's frustrating but they give you the option of doing it as killer or survivor. Pick the easier role and do that. With the chases community challenge I'll probably play killer because chasing is the primary objective for that role, whereas I'm not guaranteed long chases as survivor.

  • @RisingTron said:

Wait you can continue to contribute to the community challenges after you already filled your own personal bar?

Guess I'm gonna pop on Brutal Strength, Fired Up, and Wraiths kicking add-ons and singlehandedly get us to the finish just so I can get Haddie's cosmetic.

Sheet. scoot over, i'll come help,

ain't letting this poor boi do the work alone,

You two made me smile reading this! Godspeed, the fate of the community is in your hands now.

  • My first game today was a tunnelling bubba who facecamped and repeatedly hit people on hook. Really fun stuff!

  • I like your idea that we could be able to start contributing to the next challenge and just receive the rewards once the community goal is met. I don't mind it so much but yeah I do find myself checking it every now and then like 'damn y'all really struggling to kick/fix some gens?'

  • I played the game for 3 hours before I was even able to find an invitation. Killer slugged for the 4k.

  • 'Imagine if a killer got an add-on that allowed them to kill a survivor on first hook.' As someone previously pointed out: Tombstone. Rancor also allows killers to kill a survivor on first hook.

  • Is it BPS value or is it just bloodhunt value?

  • @amazing_grace said:

They already slowly release old rift cosmetics in the store periodically, so I highly doubt they would ever bring back the old rift tracks. It would be nice if they would bring back old charms, but it seems like most of the community hates the charms, so they probably don't see it worth there time. (I like charms as well.)

I really love the mini figure charms and I so badly wish I’d been around to get the mini Yui

  • If anything, you need ds even more if you 4%. ‘I couldn’t find the unhooker’ is a common tunnelling excuse/reason.

  • Tbh it also doesn't take into consideration different times of day, different servers, etc.

In EU there are instant survivor queues during the day + slower killer queues and then the opposite it true at night. There needs to be a better balance sure... or you can just play survivor during the day and killer at night lol.

  • @MilManson said:

    Solo queue shouldn't have MMR.

If you get downed first you might as well ######### on hook and go next because you'll probably either get hook farmed or spend the entire game injured.

That's what I do, die fast on hook and go next if in solo queue.

    A) you’re part of the problem OP mentioned.

    B) you’re lowering your own mmr by doing this so you really can’t complain about getting a bad solo queue experience when you’re giving the game the impression that you’re at a low skill level.

  • @Piruluk said:

There are no communication at solo, nothing at all, no stickers, no chat, nothing. Without communication insanely hard to play well, I believe even seasoned teams would have problems in SWF without communication.

And the game almost balanced around SWF, solo is an outdated way to play survivor, I mean you can play, but dont expect random players have enough skill to survive, expect to die over and over again, you almost have no impact on games alone

My boyfriend and I play without comms when he’s streaming and we understand each other pretty well. The only time we struggle is when our other two teammates (solos) do things like op listed above.

  • Some killers hate survivors looping. Some killers hate survivors predropping and holding w. At this point survivors are just going to do what they want and there’s no point demanding they cater to how you want to play. Just eat the pallets and enjoy the the easy dead zones later in the game.

  • I’ve noticed triage seems pretty bugged. Worked fine at first but now no matter how many times I heal people who come to me while running the perk, nothing happens.

  • My first game playing her I got stomped (also on The Game), my second game I got adept (my first ever killer adept).

If we judged all killers on individual personal experiences of our first games playing them we'd have supersoldier blights and nurse's flying around rn.

  • @Swampoffering said:

I tunnel someone every match, is the best strategy since MMR release. We can't change survivor mindset so tunnel them and move Next Game .

Okay, but that works both ways.

"I run meta perks every match, it's the best strategy since MMR release. We can't change killer mindset so genrush them and move on to the next game."

  • Not a killer main but pentimento/plaything/thana plague is my guilty pleasure. Up to 50% repairing penalty? Ouch.

  • Yeah tbh I only really run meta perks after I go up against a bunch of certain playstyles. DH is the only perk that stays in my build (unless I'm running a certain build for a challenge); DS, BT, UB only show up when I get tired of facing tunnelling, camping, slugging, etc. It's a very broken cycle and BHVR would rather let us fight each other over it than try to fix it.

I think a lot of people have the mentality of “I’ve suffered through it, so should you”

they want everyone else to have to grind just because they had to, instead of being happy for new players who’d have an easier time if the BP system was changed

yeah I started just over a year ago and now have all survivors and killers level 50 (with some survivors prestiged and 3 survivors p3 + all perks) and I honestly wouldn't wish this grind on anyone. I can't imagine starting the game now with 50+ characters and 150+ perks across the board.

  • @GeneralV said:

The moment you remove a perk from your build, is the moment you need it.

And the moment you add it is the moment you almost never get to use it (looking specifically at you deliverance)

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2836409#Comment_2836409

They don't need a reason to run those perks. Out of most games I play the Metas are always in their loadouts, one if not all. That's why they are Meta perks. If BHVR wants to change the Meta landscape they would have to deal with the current Metas not try and make new ones.

I play survivor more now because I don't want the headache of Killer matches and know that alot of survivor perks need a major rework to shake up the meta.

I'm aware, I'm saying that nerfing perks outside the main meta will just increase the use of that meta even more.

  • Nerfing certain survivor perks just encourages people to run DS/BT/DH/UB/etc even more. It’s okay for other survivor perks to be good, not everything needs to be nerfed.

  • @Shaaei said:

I've always kinda felt like BT was a bit overrated, not to say its not strong but I don't really want to get into that, but I feel like this change would be an objective nerf to the perk. One person running the perk now would be equivalent of three people (hypothetically) running it if they were to change it to this.

The perk is effectively meant to be a selfless perk. Part of its strength is how common it is, so common that killers will often just expect it.

I understand what you're saying and that's why I've edited my post to say a brand new perk.

But BT was also created before they introduced the new MMR in which escapes = "skill". I don't care to escape every single game but it is incredibly frustrating when I sacrifice a perk slot to try and help my teammates and end up dead whilst they're running some variation of self-care/urban/spine chill and live. I guess I'm just not that good at hockey.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/312788/bt-change

yes, that new perk is decisive strike. Decisive strike is self-BT but you need to hit the lockers.

Another perk that is close to self-BT is Sprint burst. Sprint burst does however ban you from utilizing Dead hard.

To be honest with you I made the post out of frustration over the match that I detailed to supersonic853 above. DS is good for one use whereas BT is good for both hook states. Sprint burst would not have helped me in that situation because I was downed before I could even take a step.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

With so much camping and tunneling lately, Borrowed Time is a must perk.

    I completely agree.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/312788/bt-change

Bt im pretty sure is intended to be a selfless perk on purpose. I agree it feels bad to unhook with bt but get farmed in return. But thats a price i pay as a bt runner. It's supposed to make the unhooker the killers suitable target since chasing the person with bt on them wastes time.

I just had a game where all 3 of my teammates were not running BT. I was the only one. I was also apparently the only one who understood crouching against hag traps so after both unhooks she immediately appeared and I went straight down. DS saved me the first time, the second time I had nothing.

I was the killer's target both times, she didn't care for or respect BT. Why would she? My teammates spent the whole game farming myself and each other so she knew she had nothing to worry about. I don't blame her at all.

    It's just frustrating.

  • So you’re saying survivors only run the same limited pool of perks while killers run a bigger pool of perks and that somehow proves the game is survivor sided? Huh.

  • I was doing an escape via hatch as the last survivor challenge a while back (back when the hatch spawned at the end regardless of how many players were alive) and it was so difficult. I was looping the demo puppy literally around the hatch waiting for the Leon to leave and my friend (who was spectating) was telling me that he was literally just sat in the exit gates. Not even trying to run out and find me to make sure I was out safe but literally just stood there. The egc timer was literally in its final 10 second countdown before he eventually left and the demo downed me on top of the hatch as it popped open. I narrowly got the challenge done but I was so beyond annoyed at how close I was to losing it over one guy who was that desperate to teabag.

if you don’t plan on doing anything useful to help other survivors in the match please just leave.

  • @Yatol said:

the thing is you shouldn't be surprised, how many hags do you run into on a regular basis? When a killer has a low playrate less players are experienced enough to know how to deal with them. Recently i had a match against legion, a Kate hid in a locker and got grabbed.

I had a similar game where a Laurie sat on a gen instead of mending (from a bt hit) and went down before the gen even popped. It meant the Dwight who was doing the gen with her then had to get her up. The other survivor was in chase and got downed while this was happening. I, who was on hook this entire time, proceeded to die on my first hook. Avoidable 4K if the Laurie had taken 10 seconds to actually mend.

similarly, I watched my boyfriend play in a swf once which some people he’d just met. In a game against a legion this one guy repeatedly went down because he wouldn’t mend. I’m sure that legion thought he’d hit the jackpot lol

I'm kinda amazed that survivors would rather get minimal Bloodpoints and de-pip than help me get this Billy challenge done. I show I'm friendly, we nod at each other a bunch, I bring out my chainsaw, and they scatter. Well, okay, if you won't stand still and let me get the chainsaw hits, then I'm going to go stand at the exit gate while you do gens. Those are your options. I have no pips, offerings, or add-ons to lose.

When I play survivor, I'd much rather take the chance and help the killer out than only get to do gens and leave. Doing gens and leaving is always a de-pip because it's impossible to get altruism or chase if the killer refuses to interact and it's frustrating as hell. Where are the survivors like me when I'm playing killer??

There’s politely asking people to help you get a challenge done and then there’s this weird entitlement and expectation that survivors must help you with challenges and if not you’ll rage quit and sit in the corner instead of playing the game properly.

  • Jokes on you, I get camped and tunnelled regardless of what I bring or when I select it.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I have to admit, I thought most survivors were throwing their games because they were bad, now I realize these survivor archive challenges are just so insanely ridiculous and you have to throw if you want them done in a timely manner.

These ‘drop x pallets in a chase’ challenges drive me insane. I try to do it organically (no matter how many games it takes) but I can’t do anything about solo queue teammates who drop 90% of the pallets in the first 3 minutes. Suddenly it’s your turn to get chased and every corner of the map is a deadzone. 😭

I can’t fault them for trying to get it done as quickly as possible but damn at least bring Gideon and any means necessary and save some for the rest of us.

Sad that most survivors feel so entitled to escapes that they can't contrive new strategies such as you do. Sad!

Personally as someone who has all survivor adept achievements, I haven't been scared of a Bubba ever since I got to 100% pallet stun effectiveness against his power.

Survivor adepts are some of the easiest achievements in the game and are completely irrelevant to your point.

Lightborn is not a trash perk for baby Killers and is, in fact, a great defense against bully squads.

Most 'bully squads' will just switch tactics to getting gens done and getting out ASAP once they realise you have LB though. gg go next.

  • I don’t think some streamers realise how much having a calmer more positive attitude will genuinely help their growth. Whenever I play with or against a streamer, regardless of the outcome of the match, if they’re super chill and friendly it’s an easy follow. Being rude and grouchy will not do you any favours.

  • I’m dead over you calling Jeff Steve 😭

  • I’ve had two subtle speed hacking killers. A doctor and a nemesis. The doctor game was caught by a ttv I was playing with but I don’t think he used his vod to report them. I’ve also been matched with a survivor who would ‘lag’ running in place and then suddenly teleport across the map. I didn’t even notice he was doing it until we were 3 gens in and he magically appeared on a gen next to me and then disappeared when the killer arrived.

  • Accidentally bodyblocked a Meg in a chase while trying to take a hit for her. Later when I was on hook her friend (they had matching steam names) then proceeded to spam the unhook animation on me before teabagging and running away. Ironically it was the Meg who unhooked me - no teabags or bm just a straight unhook. Kinda confused why her friend was so upset if the Meg herself wasn’t lol but that’s EU servers for you.
