my biggest advice is to not rise to their level. not even hitting them on hook when you've got a guaranteed win at the end. most of the time people are toxic because they want you to get upset so don't give them that. even if you lose and they're ggez'ing you in end game chat. just hit them with a 'gg wp gl next <3' and go back to lobby without seeing their response. i know it's not always easy but letting them rile you up is just giving them what they want. (also try not to take the energy from that game into the next one)
-
It took me 22+ games to get this damn challenge (I only know because I track my matches on nightlight and it's my 3rd most used perk this month). I tried flashbangs and flashlights and was just awful at it. I finally got a flashlight save against a nemesis and got hit on hook for it so there's that.

I think people are kind of missing the point. OP isn't saying they want loads more maps to bloat out the roster, they're saying if the devs insist on creating maps for new chapters they wish they'd expand on current realms instead of creating new ones.
And like people have mentioned, this would make map offerings more balanced as instead of, for example, being guaranteed 1 map it'd be more of a gamble. I love red forest but hate temple of purgation - I wouldn't use a map offering because I don't want to risk getting sent to a map I hate. If I have a 'drop x pallets' challenge I could throw on game map offering and be guaranteed the map I want. This of course depends on other map offerings, sacrificial wards, etc but you get my point.
I'd also really love to see Garden of Joy expanded upon because I find that map really visually interesting. There are so many little stories and details throughout.

I hear this a lot. The word "skill" is tossed around a lot in here.
Let's break down the role of a killer.
- Kill survivors
If someone has the word "killer" in their name then you can guess what they're gonna do.
Killer: someone who kills
The role of a killer in DBD: kill survivors
What's so hard to understand about that?
I'm a killer main. And I'm not a nice killer. My job is simple and only has one goal. To kill survivors.
Do we get it now?
Babe, it's a video game. Unclench.
-
Had two teammates DC against a nurse at 5 gens yesterday. I know pips don't mean skill and it's just bloodpoints and blah blah blah but the new chapter releases ON rank reset day and I'd quite like to actually have bloodpoints. A DC should at least get you a safety bc #########.

I see a lot of Fengs and Neas prestiged to 100. And I’m currently on the road to p100’ing Haddie (but it’s taking me a while because my priority is unlocking all perks on all killers and survivors first)

its 4 seconds and i have to kick the gen again which makes it almost 6 seconds.
6 whole seconds. My heart breaks for you.

Dropping + AMN repeatedly to troll you with noise notifications is highly unlikely when dropping a pallet and fast vaulting repeatedly takes less time and less effort.

It's genuinely a very useful perk that helps Solos more than SWF, which makes me think its well-designed.
This. Some teammates drop pallets like it’s a $10 comp tournament and I’d like to have at least a hint that I’m running towards a man-made dead zone later in the game.

Where in this thread has anyone denied the correlation between time played and in-game skill?
The only thing being denied is the correlation between prestige level and skill level, or prestige level and time played.
I have over 3.6k hours, but do not have a character prestige above 14. My friend has under 2k and has a prestige 60 Nea. Is he more skilled and suddenly has an additional 2.3k hours simply because his Nea is a higher prestige level than mine? Would his skill level and time played suddenly drop if he switched to Mikaela, who's only P1?
Prestige level doesn't equal time played or skill level. It's the time played and skill level that correlates. Nobody is arguing against that here.
Exactly this. I'm focusing on unlocking all perks on all killers and survivors atm and once I'm done I'll be aiming to prestige my Haddie to 100. I'll play different survivors based on bp offerings, challenges, dailies, just to play someone different and give Haddie's dwindling item supply a break, etc.
I understand for OP it might be overwhelming to see a bunch of high prestiges in your lobby but it's not at all an indication of skill or time spent overall. Just use your first handful of games on Huntress to focus on learning her instead of aiming for kills to allow your MMR to adjust on her.

But you didnt buy her available cosmetic!
If there were any demand, the available Haddie skin would sell very well.
A business seeing how low the sales are can't justify making Haddie cosmetics
if you're referring to the 1 linked diver cosmetic yes I did buy it. Don't make assumptions.

In the end its business, and Feng skins are selling like crazy.
So if you want other skins, better start spending on other cosmetics.
Yes let me quickly go buy Haddie earring recolour 1, 2 and 3 and go buy all those other various default recolours. So many cosmetics to buy!

It's stuff like this where I wish we had reassurance before it was nerfed. Force them to stay in the game
I had a game once where someone was trying to give up on hook so I reassured her and saved her. Later in the game she reassured me and then spammed the unhook animation for the entire duration of reassurance + the first hook stage. Gotta admire her petty perseverance.

Please use this perk correctly.
I can't count how many times I've been on a gen with another survivor, they use PE (luckily I'm running PT) only to dump it on that very same gen and use it a second time.
I completely agree. The only time I'll do this is if the killer's coming and I don't want to risk losing the stacks.

What's up with the care for Haddie? She hasn't even been OUT for a year and everyone is screaming and crying for a Haddie cosmetic when Jeff and Adam haven't gotten any in over a year. Haddie is not only unpopular, but she's still a newish survivor so ofc its gonna be longer before she gets more outfits. Vittorio's tome was made before even he was AND he's a wildly popular survivor already so ofc he's gonna get some focus
1) A shirt was recently released for Jeff as part of the cats and dogs collection and Adam had both a rift cosmetic and deep rift recolour for tome 13. Hardly over a year.
2) You contradict yourself by point out that she's newish and that Vittorio had a tome made "even before he was". Before he was released and before he became popular he already had a tome planned out for him. Where's Haddie's tome? Did she already have a whole tome planned out for her? Did she have multiple cosmetics upon release like Vittorio did? Or did she just have the same default outfit recoloured 7 times?

Long answer?
People DC for any multitude of reasons. Maybe they're a sore loser. Maybe their takeout just arrived. Maybe they hate that killer. Maybe their dog is choking. Maybe they went down and saw all their teammates crouching in a conga line. Maybe their internet went out. Maybe they're having a bad day or a series of bad games and whatever maybe small or insignificant thing was the final straw that broke the camel's back.
It's frustrating, especially for their remaining teammates, but unfortunately this is the state of dbd now. The amount of times I've loaded into a game against a certain killer and heard a teammate DC early in the match and thought 'fair enough' is actually comical.
-
I play predominantly solo queue so windows never leaves my build. It helps to know if I'm running towards a deadzone because my teammate already dropped every pallet on this side of the map at 5 gens.
-
Have you considered that maybe if you have to tunnel and camp to "win" at "high MMR" maybe you're in the wrong skill bracket? Maybe you're playing at above your paygrade? MMR isn't a ranking system, you don't get brownie points for being higher and miserable. Maybe the Nemesis who needs to tunnel at 5 gens shouldn't be at the same MMR as the 12 hook nurse who hits every single blink attack perfectly, the same way the Feng who loads into the game with a key and hides with 0 hooks while her whole team dies shouldn't be at the same MMR as the Yui who ran the killer for 2 gens and completed a further 2 gens herself.
You're stuck in a vicious circle of tunnelling for kills, increasing your MMR, going up against skilled opponents and crying about it. If people just played the game normally and stopped treating MMR like a reward system or something to brag about (ironic how it's always people complaining about how hard the game is who believe they're at high MMR) I'm sure a lot more fun could be had.
TLDR; Skill issue. Needing to make a 4v1 game into a 3v1 as soon as you load into the match is actually embarrassing. Customs against bots are there for a reason if you wanna play on easy mode.
-
@BabyCameron10 said:
They just need to make Scourage Hooks token based.
You start the trial with 4 tokens.
1 token will be consumed when hooking a survivor, turning the normal hook into a Scourage Hook and boom, rng is completely removed.
Giving the killer the freedom to choose where they want their Scourage Hooks to be placed on the map.
This would be a great idea if we weren't currently in the worst 3-gen meta atm. What's to stop someone from identifying a 3-gen as soon as they load into the map (as some killers already do) and putting all their SHs in and around that?
-
Guy, I'm ngl to you. All this gameplay told me is that you're one of the problems with solo queue. Urban evading away from a teammate on a gen? Relighting the same boon over and over while your previous one is still active? Taking ages to actually get on a gen? The only thing missing is self-caring in a corner.
-
@Nazzzak said:
I've mentioned something along this line a few times. People talk about gen rushing, but as a solo player the game is literally in a place where I feel I've let my team down if I'm not sitting on a gen. I actually feel a bit of guilt and embarrassment if a team mate runs past me while I'm cleansing a totem or looking through chests. I don't bring toolboxes or gen perks, but every killer runs regression builds, so if I want to be useful member of the team then I can't stray far from my gen because chances are it'll regress completely if I let myself get distracted elsewhere. I can't just come back to it later.
"I actually feel a bit of guilt and embarrassment if a team mate runs past me while I'm cleansing a totem or looking through chests."
This is how I feel exactly. If I'm doing a challenge I usually 'reward' myself with a totem or a chest once I've done a gen. Same goes for cleansing against Plague or waking up against Freddy.

@Lost_Boy said:
So I've been playing mainly solo q for the last 3 weeks because I started to get a bit bored of playing killer.
I would consider myself pretty good on killer and average on survivor so this is solely based on playing at an average survivor MMR.
Having tried all sorts of fun builds on survivor I've came to the conclusion that if you play solo queue and try to bring a fun build to the game you're basically just a weak link to your team. The only way your team stands any chance at winning is by having gen related perks, information & healing perks. Everyone really needs to be sitting on a gen at any given free moment apart from saves/heals and then straight away back on gens. If you don't do this in solo queue there's a very good chance you will lose the game even if you deviate from this for a minute or so. If you have no info perks and 2 people go for a hook and one gets downed it's very easy to snowball from that point.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that I really don't think gen rushing is a thing in solo games anymore because doing gens and rescue/heal is literally all you can do to have the slightest bit of hope at escaping or winning. Fun builds & perks are really reserved for coordinated SWF teams, which is kinda sad because there's so many fun perks that really can't be utilised in solo queue without being detrimental to the rest of your team.
So as a killer main I would urge other killer mains who always claim that they tunnel, camp, run 4 regression perks etc due to gen rushing to take some time away from playing killer for a bit and really look at what solo queue is like now. This is literally all you can do as a solo survivor these days, unless You're some god tier looper that can consistently run killers for 5 gens every game.
I definitely think solo q has a much smaller margin of error for winning and losing these days, especially when 4 regression perks are stacked. It's not even uncommon these days as a killer to come back and 4k the match when you have 4 survivors left and only 1 gen. That used to be a fairly rare occurrence, but now it happens all the time.
This is one of the most intelligent posts I've seen on this forum in a while.
I used to predominantly play solo queue but find I mostly play killer now because survivor just isn't fun. Like you said, there's a much smaller margin of error and even if I have a challenge to do a chest or a totem I feel like I'm being a detriment to my team.
-
Michael.
Survivor's main 'objective' is to survive: they're in that locker to avoid dying.
Killer's main 'objective' is to kill: he knows where the survivor is and he's just standing there.
-
Were you by any chance bringing moris before you switched to bps? 😶
-
@Firellius said:
It'd have to be really bad to qualify for that, but I basically do it with camping and tunnelling. I just don't employ either of those tactics.
Though come to think of it, I do indeed not use BNPs for this reason, ever. They're a really stupid element in the game and should very obviously be deleted.
Yeah this is the same for me. And as survivor I won’t teabag, wait at exit gates, or bodyblock with bt (unless my team depends on it) because I know how frustrating it can be.
-
Also my rule of thumb is 1-2 gen slowdowns. I don’t want a 20 year game and I don’t want to rely on 7 minute gens to get kills.
-
I used to run a thana/playthings/pentimento build on plague and stopped because I know it’s boring to go against. I then switched to a 3 gen call of brine build and I haven’t touched her in a while because I know it just drags the match out.
I used to run an eruption/brutal strength build on wraith but again haven’t played him in a while and probably won’t until it (hopefully) gets nerfed.
I tried out a nowhere to hide/overcharge build on doctor but hadn’t realised how powerful it was until during the game the survivors were unable to complete either gen in the main hallway on rpd because I kept kicking them to get NTH value. I even apologised to them afterwards in egc but they were super good sports and even said I was a fun doctor.
I know a lot of people don’t care about the other side’s fun but idk I’d rather lose a game and walk away knowing everyone had fun than sweat out a 4k and make everyone miserable? Especially during an event. I’m not interested in boosting my mmr or doing a x streak I just wanna learn the killers’ powers and learn mindgames and strats. I think a lot of people make their fun dependent on escapes/kills, use certain tactics to get to higher mmr, and then get upset when they go up against harder opponents and seem to take it personally when those opponents actually try. But that’s completely irrelevant to your original post and I’m just rambling now 😅

there are much more better choices than moris, that's why anyone barely uses it, and my point still stands just because you see a secret offering doesn't mean is a mori, and every game mori or not, its the same so im not sure why u are still sticking to "you brought a mori so they must be cautious" you gonna bring a damn, i dunno, no offering at all and they will still play the same way
Are you genuinely going to say there are better options than moris and then turn around and say it could be the offering that spawns the survivors separated? The absolute joke of an offering nobody genuinely uses because it makes it impossible for killers to pressure all 4 survivors and makes gens pop quicker? But as a killer main you should know that since the point of your post was to cry about gen speeds.
Multiple people have now explained to you what bringing a mori implies to the survivors and at this point it’s obvious you didn’t make this post to do any actual self-reflection. I’ve been bringing bps and cakes (as I mentioned) and I have been having fun with survivors and been getting plenty of bloodpoints. Best of luck, hope you actually have fun playing this game one day!

ah yes one person brought a mori it means everyone brings, how long has it been since you played against a mori?
and you know there are other offerings that are secret right ?
so unless the killer kills the survivor, survivors wouldn't even know what offering is it
Nice strawman. Doesn’t change the fact that I explained to you why the survivors might be cautious. But if you’d honestly rather pretend you’re the only person on this entire game to ever use a mori than even attempt to understand why the other side played the way they did, you’re going to continue to have the same miserable experience with this game.
I’ll be over here bringing bps and cakes and having fun regardless of whether I 4k or not.

so your whole counter argument is a a mori....
not the fact im playing pig or the fact that was on badham or the 3 dead hards, just mori.
I explained to you why the survivors might be cautious that your intentions were ‘fun’. You then say nobody brings moris under a post in which you literally brought a mori.

who even runs a mori anymore lol
and eruption was useless until they 3 gend
who even runs a mori anymore says the guy who brought a mori to an event
but it’s the survivors who don’t know fun?
-
Almost no survivor loads into a game, sees the killer brought a mori, and thinks ‘I think this is going to be a chill fun match! :)’
A mori is usually followed by the sweatiest wannabe comp killer who’ll happily camp and tunnel to get their offering value. I’m not at all surprised these survivors were cautious and just tried to get gens done, especially since you’re running the eruption meta that solo queue is struggling with.

Because you're actually doing something other than grumbling about the situation. Can't work on that gen? Work on whatever gen you can whenever you can. That's assuming you actually get hit by Eruption (as opposed to Deadlock), which is way less likely if the killer hasn't spent a hideous amount of time kicking all the different gens. If anything, the killer is just getting back a bit of their hard spent time. Maybe they should get something for that.
So you’re saying the counter to Eruption is to work on another gen?
-
@danielmaster87 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3281553#Comment_3281553
It has the exact same counterplay as Eruption, AND it has no regression. You go do a different gen while yours is blocked, you work on it again when it's unblocked. Have the whole team be smart enough to do that, and suddenly you're doing gens left and right because you already had progress on others while the almost-finished one was blocked. Or, since survivors have enough time, you can literally wait out the 30 seconds, like you would Eruption. Doesn't matter that you don't do work for it, because you're the killer, and it simply delays the inevitable of all the gens getting done. You also can't kick or Pain Res with it while it's blocking a gen.
Trust me, every gen slowdown perk under the sun is complained about, because the casuals are very loud and great in number. They say Pain Res is still broken, and Pop is "fine" knocking off 5% of a gen.
You can talk about nuance all you want, but the truth is that killers regularly lose from winning nonstop in chase. Survivors can be bad in chase/good on gens, bad on gens/good in chase, or medicore in both and still win. What did the killer do to deserve that outcome? Took A 20-second chase, maybe didn't bring 3-4 gen defence perks, or maybe had to break too many pallets which had no mindgame. I'd love to go back to being neutral, you have no idea. But the game balance and the trends I've seen just won't allow me.
"It has the exact same counterplay as Eruption, AND it has no regression. You go do a different gen while yours is blocked, you work on it again when it's unblocked." Just curious, how is 'go do a different gen' the 'exact' counterplay to Eruption?
-
I have to wonder if people actually enjoy this game or if they just find enjoyment in getting upset over everything.
-
I love how multiple people answered your question about Prove Thyself's use for BPs (I also use it for this reason) and you've chosen to completely ignore all of them and just argue with everyone else.
-
My combined survivor prestige is 167, my highest is only prestige 11 and my current main is prestige 8.
All the high prestige tells you is that they put all their eggs in one basket meanwhile people like me are over here making sure every survivor and every killer has every perk at their disposal.

Herein lies the problem. You didn’t see the posts about DH and COH and therefore you assume they didn’t exist. COH was nerfed twice. DH was nerfed twice (once post ptb). The posts about them have been and gone. If you want to revive them or make your own, you can.

Its not like there is 70% survivor only players and 30% killer only. I feel like the majority plays both sides and yet its the killer perk that gets the most attention.

-
I used to be about 95% survivor and 5% killer but now I'm about 60% survivor and 40% killer. My anxiety is terrible and I used to feel genuinely stressed at the idea of playing killer. I'd get as far as loading into a lobby, see 4 survivors and back out. I don't know what changed, but I've been playing it a lot closer to equally. I don't delete killer dailies, I just use them as an excuse to learn the killer. I mostly play in the evenings so whenever bp favours killer I just go for that. I think the new challenge loadout thing makes it a lot easier too because I already have a killer challenge selected.
-
Came here to say the exact same thing.
