Agreed. It's not horrible, but its not good either. It needs something to not be cleansed so instantly. That or just dont make it a hex totem (but devs seem against that idea)
And I agree with the devs, I do think it would be too strong as a non hex that you're guaranteed to have all game. If that were the case I actually feel new ruin would be used more than old ruin lol. But I also don't think it's nearly strong enough to be a hex.
-
I agree pretty much. I did feel the new ruin was useless at first but it isn't. It honestly isn't bad. But it will not be used ever in ranked games. Not nearly strong enough to be worth the risk of using a hex

DS should have no way to deactivate except time-out and the timer shouldn't go down while within the killer's terror radius and it shouldn't go down when in the dying state if activated.
I almost missed your sarcasm at first... You got me 🤣🤣

I watch a ton of streamers. You know what every single one of them that have a lot of builds that do not contain ruin have in common? They don't travel too far from hook, they don't hesitate to slug, and they are not above the tunnel. I'm assuming this is what the people who keep telling everyone to get better at gen pressure means?
-
I keep trying it and I have to say...I honestly don't believe anyone who says they are going to use it. Not going into a debate about it but there is no way killers are using a perk slot that will more than likely be empty most of the game for the very little benefit it would provide while active. Ruin will be the killers deja Vu.
-
These kind of bait posts would get more traction if you guys would stop going overboard with things like "hag is op"

Hex perks are supposed to be devastating, this perk is simply kinda useful until it gets cleansed and pretty useful with surveillance--again, until it gets cleansed. The rate at which the gens regress needs to be doubled to justify the Hex quality. Look at NOED, Devour, Third Seal, all great perks but all linked to a totem survivors can easily destroy if they're dilligent. New Ruin, overall, is bad in the grand scheme of things when there are so many other better perks tor run.
This is exactly how I feel.
-
My biggest issue is without a starting perk like ruin, you are not only having to rely on your gen pressure, but also relying on survivors choosing to do something else besides gens, or just making horrible mistakes. Gens CAN BE completed so quickly that a smart, spread out team focused on the objective will be done and gone very quickly being little affected by your pressure. You are relying on them grouping up, you are relying on them following you around in hopes of a flashlight save etc.

No one wants to do generators, especially lower ranks and new players. We are too afraid to touch generators because killers know exactly where the generators are and the generators are so loud it practically gives our position away (THANKS TECHNICIAN YOU SOLVED NOTHING). We hate being sitting ducks and with Hex:Ruin our motivation to do generators went from 20% to 0% and we end up hating the game, not wanting to play dead by daylight anymore. Hex:Ruin is Toxic to us newbies who can't even hit regular skills check, and with the fluctuation of ranks, we're bound to get a killer who has Hex:Ruin on anyways. Did you know? there are a lot of grey rank killers who have all the perks unlocked, so rank doesn't even matter anyways.
"BUT WHAT ABOUT THE GEN RUSHERS, YOU CLEARLY NEVER PLAYED KILLER BEFORE"
well you see, when a survivor is hooked, all the other newbie survivors will stop doing generators and try to save the hooked person just to end up getting hooked as well, it's a cycle of trying to save but getting hooked instead. If you're getting Gen rushed then it's completely normal, you are not supposed to get 4k every game. You think a killer getting 4 kills in a game is a normal occurrence? you should think again. BVHR actually want new players to play the game and enjoy it, Hex:Ruin just sucks the soul right out of survivors, of course veteran players will argue "why don't you just run the perk small game?" "what are you talking about? hex:ruin gets destroyed by the first minute of the game", yeah but you are forgetting those OTHER GAMES, where newbies are just mad, frustrated, running around the map just to never find a ruin, they don't know the exact spots where ruins would spawn yet.
And aren't you bored of having Hex:ruin on EVERY build when you play as a killer? A newbie is not going to have the HAG unlocked, when you have Hex:ruin on you're always paranoid who's cleansing your Hex:ruin, and when you get your Hex:ruin cleansed within the first 1 minute into the game you get this sense of despair. Is that """FUN""" I rather run around freely getting Gen rush then getting salty the moment my Hex:ruin gets cleansed and tunneling that one survivor who cleansed it
I think BHVR did a right thing for creating a more friendly environment for new players and noobs. It's a lot more fun now that Hex:Ruin will be gone. New players can live freely without the PTSD of Hex:Ruin
Ill let you in on a secret .. experienced players don't like doing gens either. It is possibly the single most boring objective of any video game ever made. This is why experienced/good players are called toxic because we would rather run around and act like an ass because it is more fun than holding a button in front of a gen.
When you see this information....new players don't like doing gens, old players don't like doing gens, and when you do the math on gen times and see that if they really want to....they can have them done in an instant and be gone being little affected by your gen pressure.....it sort of points to the idea that maybe gens should be looked into.

How about being halfway through the grab animation and then seeing the survivor 5 meters away uninjured?
Yep, happens all the time
-
I just hope they look at DS. I run it all the time on my survivor. But it is way too strong. I feel once another survivor is hooked DS should deactivate.
-
I play on PS4 as well as PC and I honestly don't understand who got the whole "you got dedicated severed" thing going. PC and it's servers are not special on the bullshit hits when you're well past a window vault. Or the huntress hatchets traveling through walls.
-
The only thing I find annoying about survivors is something that isn't even their fault. It's the fact that the game is centered around all the bad ones and when you go against good ones it's honestly gg.
-
My thoughts on new ruin? Honestly my biggest take away is how a perk was used so heavily and now all these killer gods have risen from the depths telling all us peasants the key to victory is pReSSurE gENs.
-
Cool post
-
No offense to anyone but after about 5 minutes I want to scream. I don't like it at all.
-
It depends imo. I feel that hex perks should be powerful. As a killer you are taking a perk into a game knowing it may not do you any good at all, but it potentially can change the game.
New ruin does not fit that. So if this is how hex is going to be I don't see an incentive to run it unless something is done to ensure it is harder to destroy.
-
I don't think people are going to use ruin so surveillance won't need changed. I'm done arguing over the change. I'll just say hex are supposed to be powerful. They can benefit you greatly, but you risk not even really getting to use it. New ruin is not that. It is not worth the chance of getting little too no use out of because it does not provide the upside to justify the risk.
I just an really hoping they try and address the biggest issue. The objective is too quick, too boring, and requires no brain power or skill. Let's be honest, this is why a lot of survivors who become good at the game are called toxic. We have zero interest in doing generators. It's boring as hell. It's much more fun to run around and act like an ass.
-
I hated it as survivor. I think it still was my most hated even over Hawkins. I hated being billy, Oni, and honestly trapper at lerys. The extremely bright environment and really light floor made his traps really easy to spot. Especially if you use a tar bottle lol. Think he will actually do well there now though. And I absolutely owned lerys with hag.
I'll add a friend I play with loved lerys. She can loop a killer all game in the center theater.
-
Yep. I made my own post and don't mind commenting on every other post about it. The new lerys is amazing and I am actually excited to see future map reworks. It feels like an entirely new game at lerys now.
And this praise is coming from someone in jail right now so you know I've been an ass lol.

Now killers will have to rely on their own skill to apply map pressure and stall out gens instead of depending on a perk that does their job for them with no required input from the killer, at the cost of a perk slot. And with this change, it's extremely likely that we'll get buffs to low teir m1 killers so that they'll be on the same level as high teir killers who have a lot of mobility. The best part about this is that in red/purple ranks, there will be a lot less bad killers who sweat for the 4k and a lot more killers that are genuinely good at the game, playing for fun.
My only critisisms about the hex: ruin changes is that it's a hex perk and can't be paird with gen-kicking related perks. The changes I would suggest is; it can be paird with gen-kicking related perks and once the hex totem is cleansed, the effect lingers for 90 seconds but regression is reduced to normal speed.
Puts other people's skills down, but still wants to run pgtw with other gen regressing perks.... Very bold.

This was basically my experience today as well.

Nerf the Hillbilly.
I assure you that the killer playerbase will drop to negative numbers if they nerf the hillbilly. He is the most balanced killer in the game, powerful but at the same time loopable as an m1 killer. He is the perfect killer and this game needs more killers with a high skill cap like him. Most of the people at red ranks, killers and survivors, love him.
If you ever touch the hillbilly I think this forum will explode more than ever.
Btw, Yeah I know BHVR doesn't want to kill their own game, this is just a "warning" for them. Just don't do that.
It will happen. He will be used more now that map pressure is going to be much more important. We all know what happens to killers that are used a lot and have success.
-
You do know what will happen when everyone plays the very limited good killers available right? Just ask the nurse.

So did you, but I'm not surprised. Killer mains are just hypocrites. It's survivors who are tOxIc and Devs, who are "pRo-SuRvIvOr BiAeSed", even though survivors barely survive.

These vent posts are getting long and a bit pathetic. “ I’m uninstalling” , “ I’m going to Mori and noed all survivors”. Please tell me these are 12 year old raging at home and not actual adults.
Also, how many of you who complained have played the game on the ptb? I saw the map and it looks so good. Clearly the devs put some time and energy into this but as with every change, everyone complains.
So if you’ve played. What do you think? I don’t care what anyone else is ranting about. Thanks.
Played all day. Lerys looks amazing. Doc is still crap and ruin is completely useless.

We all know that against a decent team, it is nearly impossible to do well without ruin as killer. However, this just goes to show how ruin is probably the strongest perk in the game. Even more annoyingly, its a hex perk, which means its luck wether your game goes well as it depends on if survivors end up finding ruin early or not.
Without everyone using ruin after the nerf, game statistics will show how killers are struggling more against the speed at which survivors complete generators, and so (hopefully) appropriate changes can be made so that its not as easy for survivors to 'gen rush'. This way, it will be as if we still have the improved chance of success that ruin gave us, but without relying on a truly unreliable perk, that is primarily luck based.
TLDR: Updates will (hopefully) slow down gen rush as killers start to do worse without ruin, so that we no longer rely on a hex perk to do well
Hopefully it would work like that. But don't hold your breath.
-
I agree lerys looks fantastic and had me excited to see future map updates. But they basically removed ruin from the game as it is completely useless so I'm not done complaining yet lol

I think survivor mains should just counter them by playing killer in the ptb and show them how to apply genpressure without it. Should be simple, can show the devs how killers get 4k every game anyway, right?

If this is true then maybe they are trying to prove a point saying if survivors want to go full on out sweat mode it's too easy to win with toolboxes?

Survivor I will still use the same op perks I always do. DS, unbreakable, dead hard, and a 4rh I switch up

Deerstalker, infectious, knockout, corrupt will be my build on just about everyone

Yeah. If anyone gets bonuses at bhvr I hope it's the design team.

Suuure. And that's probably why every killer except Nurse has killrate over 50%, some even have 70-75%. But still "DeVs HaVe StRoNg PrO-SuViVoR BiAs!!!", right?
The outcry about Ruin change is just hypocritical.
I thought this post was about people being scummy in the ptb to try and get their way... Now it's about crying over ruin? Sounds like somebody hurt you. Did someone hurt you?
-
Think about it. If they did that survivors would have to replace one of their over used perks like ds or unbreakable and that does not coincide with the mission here.
-
I don't want to be that guy who complains about something so trivial but I'm going to anyway. I really wish they would have worked something out with the guy on YouTube who made Chase music for each killer.

I've had one game so far where it made it the entire game. Oddly enough it was just as useless that game as it was when it was cleansed immediately the other games.

If you think people who *develop* a game barely play it, you clearly don't know what you're talking about
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/976190#Comment_976190
This makes literally no sense. Obviously they'd advertise getting a deal with a major franchise like Stranger Things, this is extremely major. But "we nerfed ruin" is only influential to people who already play the game. It means nothing to people who haven't played it. Has nothing to do with marketing
You have to admit... When they say things like "ruin will be a good late game hex" it does make you wonder if they play the game.
-
You do know survivors do this bs on ptbs for new killers right?

Well.. i almost have 9k shards, and i planned to buy hag before they announced the ruin change.
As for now.. i'm not sure anymore. Should i still buy hag? Or buy the clown or oni? I only have these three left.
Only been a couple hours but if you're buying for the perks go with someone else. Ruin so far in the ptb is completely useless now. But, hag is always fun to play.
-
@Apple2o said:
Hag is one of the most overpowered killers in the game currently.
But clown has 2 of the best perks that exist, and is very satisfying to use because of his incredible sound effects. Your call.

does it combo with surveilance tho?thats the one thing thatd be good about it for killers
Yes it does.
-
Ruin will only work now if they make it not a hex. All you need to do is start a gen and then stop for a second to tell if they have ruin so a notification or not will not make a difference. It does nothing early game and totems don't last past early game. It's honestly been useless in the 6 matches I've played so far
-
Self care was at least still very useful after it's rework. Ruin....not even remotely useful.
-
As someone who plays killer and survivor I don't want gen times increased. It is so boring when playing survivor. I do think survivors need something else to do though

I'm actually at work and I'm curious.
How is the 200% on it?
How fast is the totem gone?
I've played 5 games. Ruin was gone as quickly as it usually is. Usually no later that 2gens in and it's cleansed. But it provides nothing for early game. So it's essentially useless. It needs to not be a hex
-
Hopefully you've played it now and realize how wrong you were lol
-
Well just remember to give your feedback so they make the correct changes 🤣🤣
