I like when they try to be creative with their add-on design, but the Black Box's effect is so unimaginably useless, that's its genuinely sad to see it be labeled as an Ultra Rare.
It could see some use on endgame builds, kind of like old freddy. Though the rest of them like the noise ones seem pretty pointless. Sounds are already way louder in the dream world iirc. Haven't played him in a while.
That said, I'm not sure in what they could have possibly created add ons that were usable, but didn't buff his mobility or snares even more. Snares are already pretty much an instant win at loops if you have a brain so an add on that made them stronger would be unfair imo.

Jane, she thicc. Also like her outfits.
Also Yui, I find woman with toned bodies kinda hot.
-
It is pretty obvious that someones using the perk purely to exploit when they all run to the same edge of the map to go down. Very annoying. Why can't they hotfix bugged perks?
-
It is insane to me how he doesn't have a tome yet. Heck, Bill got one before him and Jakes one of the OG four.

You've defeated your own argument there! By your very own words, it is smart & "risky". The inherent risk being that you are baiting the killer to come and put you straight back on the hook.
I think said risky play shouldn't invalidate an entire perk slot. That's all I've got to say.
DS being gutted means nothing to me outside of being sad that there'll be even less perk variety in the future. But all its going to mean, if the perk stays in this form, is more Prove thyselfs/borrowed times or adrenalines, which, in my opinion are far more powerful as a stand alone perk.
-
That sounds like an actual nightmare but I'd love to see it.

I'm not sure where this rumor started....but I've read both the Nurse and the Wraiths lore through and not only are they not even from the same country....they aren't even from the same time period. Neither one of their lores including tomes even mentions any of this. Gonna go out on a limb....but....ITT this might be a fanfic rumor.
There was a cosmetic collection based on Phantom of the Opera that set them up as some sort of weird killer couple. But afaik it was just going off of the popularity of the two in fan art.
The devs have said that killers never interact/meet eachother outside of trials, they're confined to their own realms so I don't think its canon.

Repairing a gen, no matter how short you press "repair", is still repairing and thus a deactivation condition dor DS.
Tapping as concept is bullshit and doesnt exist as seperate action.
Even your own example for a DS "fix" is bypassed by gentapping. That theoretical 200% duration drain speed sure work wonders on an 1frame action.
I'm saying that the devs themselves have called it smart gameplay so why punish something that is considered "risky and smart" that hard?
Right now, in that situation, with a killer returning the hook a survivor is told "don't do the smart, riskier option instead just hold W" It's silly.
I should say that I never really had a problem with DS as I don't tunnel double hook, and haven't used that perk is close to maybe 3 years, but just like MoM, gutting a perk just because it was overly strong is a bad decision.

You and me thinking same. I also play for chill nowadays unless they made me pissed. For the post admin my advice is just play your game as you see fit. Rank does not mean anything in this game. I saw some green ranks play better than red ones. It is not about your rank or etc... Just have fun in your game. For me personally having fun means playing clear and fair. I enjoy giving chance to other side no matter what. Otherwise game just turn into eliminating target X game which I dont like as well.
After nearly 4 years its all I can really do to enjoy the game still.

By playing normally and fair (aka, no tunneling, camping or slugging). There's a lot of swfs that are just chaotic and marginally better organized than a group of randoms, if at all. And interestingly a lot of swfs that swf to win expect scummy behavior so playing fair even takes them offguard.
This is true, a true sweat squad swf is truly rare. I get them maybe once a day out of 30+ matches.
Most SWF are 'decent' they can loop alright, but aren't that great and are mainly carried by comms. These teams can usually be beaten by just taking advantage of how reckless they are. That said occasionally you WILL face a SWF that is so good at looping/linking tiles that there's just nothing you can do unless you're Nurse.
A lot of killers, micheal for example, simply cannot deal with good loops or comms and get absolutely decimated.
-
Just sounds like a killer that isn't willing to learn or maybe got stressed out.
Two things will happen, he'll either look up guides on how to be a better killer or become a hook camping leatherface.
Sometimes when I play against a clearly inexperienced killer playing a killer I have a lot of time in I try to give tips post game, but a lot of the time they aren't very... welcoming of it.
I feel like the games tutorial for killer could better explain things, tell killers about how to run certain tiles like jungle gyms or teach them about red stain mindgames or when/when not to drop chases.

Wait.. someone that genuinely doesn’t care?
are you a fictional person?
Don't get me wrong, when I was an edgy teenager I would have been one of these people that gets heated over it "STOP GETTING POLITICAL IN MY GAMES REEE WAIT WHAT DO YOU MEAN FALLOUT IS POLITCAL GTFO SJW". I was young and angry/depressed then and I'm pretty ashamed, spent my formative years on places like /v/ on 4chan and it warped my brain a little.
I'm 24 now, I live in the real world and meet real people. I grew up, met actual lgbt people (two of my closest friends are gay dudes and I also work with a gay woman) and they're just normal chill people.
It's also just not worth getting angry over. "Oh no, devs added an trans pride flag/gay character into my game". Like, say that out loud and think about what you're wasting you're limited minutes on this earth getting angry about.
Just let people live their lives and enjoy the things they like, if they aren't hurting anyone what's the problem?
If you're angry about the concept of a gay character, stop and ask yourself WHY you're angry about it. We already have some confirmed straight characters like Felix and Nurse anyway, so not wanting romance backstories and such isn't the reason.
-
You can play however you want as Clevite said, personally when I stopped caring about winning and balance and all that a few months ago the game became a lot more enjoyable.
I've had a rule for a few years now, never double hook a survivor if I can help it, DS or no. I just think it makes the match more enjoyable for both sides. I'm aware that most survivors won't play "fair" in the same way but thats to be expected.
Having been on the recieving end of it for hundreds of matches over multiple years it can be so boring and just makes me want to play a different game. I think its healthier to ignore the pip systems and set a personal goal.
7-8 hooks per game or something, don't worry about kills and camping/tunneling and its a lot more chilled out and enjoyable.

It's been a while since I played DBD on PC compared to my PS4, and hunnyyyyyy....
It is so much smoother I almost forgot how good it felt to play on~
Also, they have done so much better optimizing the game on PC~
I originally planned on keeping my Xbox save going and continuing rifts in the hopes that cross saves would come, but I simply couldn't go back. I had a lot of time/money on that save and I still hope one day we get cross saves but with the new gen versions I highly doubt it. :(
-
I don't think the survivors sexuality really matters, personally. I don't care if we get an LGBT survivor as long as the backstory is good and their design is cool. I'm a live and let live guy.
But I can understand why its wanted. It's nice to be represented and I've noticed games like F13 and DBd tend to have an unusually high % of LGBT players in their communities. You'll get people that complain and call it pandering regardless, unfortunately. Or even worse "political" because apparently not being straight is political... somehow...
ALso, speaking as a comfortably straight dude, isn't it funny how people will kick up a fuss at the idea of a gay character or any lgbt "romance" but are fine with Nurse's backstory of being happily married. Never saw anyone complain about that or call it forced or "not fitting in the game".

I've seen it multiple times the last few weeks. Had me a bit confused wandering around the area looking for the one that opened it. This also happened while I was hiding right next to a chest, gave me a small scare and the sound of it opening attracted the killer LMAO.
Same, me dropping that chase thinking I was about to get an easy basement hook (everyone else but the player was injured) and it ended up losing me a ton of pressure.
-
Survivor I don't bother with at night as queues are too long.
Killer queues are nigh instant but you either get a green rank team thats been queueing for 30 minutes and just grabbed you instantly or a 4 man SWF with 2 TTVs and 3 flashlights. I don't mind playing good teams or even SWFs but even I can admit it can be rather stressful against a very well co-ordinated team. I have more fun against these teams since I started playing for hooks over kills so I don't feel robbed when I end a game with 8-9 hooks but only 1 kill.
Those matches are very fun to me, I love a challenge, but when it's EVERY game at that time it can be very draining.
-
I'd like it if it just increased the speed at which it drains when doing an action, right now a killer can pop a gen right next to a hook, and if you tap it (which the devs themselves have called 'smart/risky' gameplay in respone to a question I asked about it on a QA years back) you can be put right back on the hook. It's silly.
They basically did to DS what they did to MoM. Did these perks need a nerf? YES
But making them nigh useless is not a good plan, we want more perk variety not less.
I think the only case where it should instantly cancel is healing a health state.
-
Favorite, Any Mcmillan or most Junkyard maps.
Least favorite, Hawkins and Midwich. I have no idea how those stages made it past the concept phase, midwich especially. It effectively proves why these maps aren't built for DBD with how you can get a 30 seconds + chase just holding W.
-
Female characters are smaller and easier to hide in plain sight with. Also female characters, lets face it, have the best cosmetics.

I have played him on all the maps even red forest since they re enabled it yesterday multiple times, and I don't have a problem at all. Disturbed ward actually isn't even that bad on him. Main building isn't even that strong against him. If we wanna go off of stats, and say how much time I have put into him. If I'm looking at steam stats #7 global for lacerations on trickster sitting at 2.6k so I'm not a baby trickster, and have played him a lot since release.
Then I don't want to sound like a cocky ass. But you aren't playing good survivors. You simply cannot go down to Trickster on most of these high wall tiles or main buildings. I've ran him for 4 gens myself, and I've been ran for 4 gens myself. And I land my hits.

This is why you control a 3 gen on suffocation, and don't chase in the middle. You literally never want to chase middle on any killer unless you are playing nurse or spirit. Both sides are pretty weak against trickster. Shack is the only strong tile combined on both sides. You literally never want to chase middle. If you catch them on a gen on either side you can down them before they even get to the middle. If you would like information. I will try and get suffocation pit for the games I will throw together for video today.
Thats 1 map out of many. Have you played him on any of the farm maps or Crotus Prenn yet? He might as well not even exist. They could band aid this by making him 115 and letting him brute force pallets easier but I'd rather see a better power altogether.

It's not an instant win. Mostly any high tiles hurt most range killers. That's why you don't chase at them. You can still put some work in no problem on pretty much any tile if you know how to play the tile correctly.
If you don't chase at them you lose. The majority of tiles on any outdoor map are high walls. Some maps like Suffocation pit can have 3 or 4 linked. Then theres shack and main buildings. If you don't chase at these you'll have on chases. If the survivor has even the slightest level of camera control at even an L/T wall, you are not landing more than 2 or 3 knives as Trickster.
-
@gatsby said:
I feel like the key to balancing Trickster is making Main Event actually powerful
Main event won't change his complete inability to inflict damage at tiles. Any tile that isn't a low middle one like the boxes on mcmillan is an instant win for the survivor.

This has to do with the 5s Twins nerf, but just because they're unpopular doesn't mean the devs shouldn't nerf them. Saying this as a Twins main the nerf isn't as bad as people say it is.
The answer to a killer being hated due to a boring playstyle is a rework, not nerfs. Doing that just ruins them for the few players that actively enjoy them.
I honestly feel like at this point the devs should set up a small, rework dedicated team to take care of the more hated/less used killers while a main team works on new stuff.

Bubba can also shut down loops a lot easier than Trickster. At least with his Yellow Chilli add on.

Old Freddy was weak but unique. I was always hoping for buffs over a full rework. And while I was excited at first, new freddy soured for me very quickly.
He's just... so easy. You can easily win 90% of your matches without even trying. He has too much utility. I loved Old Freddy because he felt like a true test of my skills.

Twins needed something else. Kicking victor is such a pointless thing to do with such a short cooldown as punishment. They should have given 20 seconds downtime to victor respawning if you kick him.
Its a tough situation, because if you kill Victor, even with an instant respawn, the killer has gained absolutely nothing in all the time Victor was active.
And having him immediately show up again is very annoying.

I've never understood killers who derank. Back on console I used to get this og freddy who would just derank every day for an hour or two straight.
If you're in high ranks and you aren't actively deranking you're at least holding your own. One sided stomps aren't fun imo. I hate playing against inexperienced survivors.

I guessed with dbd they are very cautious around Jason because of what happened with Friday The 13th the game which I actually kind of liked and could have been good if they fixed animation glitches made models better and made it a bit less silly and requiring a bit more skill. But it would be cool if they referenced Friday the 13th or maybe even made a Crystal Lake map at least
Jason's the dream. I hope one day that lawsuit gets figured out and we see the big boi.

A fun killer is more important than a strong killer in my opinion, however some exceptions exists, like Trickster.
Pyramid Head has one of the most unimaginitive powers in the entire game.
Ghostface's power feels lazy and boring. Despite being stronger than Micheal and Pig, I massively prefer to play them over him.
I still think Billy is the most fun killer to face in this game despite the nerfs. The overheat mechanic was stupid.
Aiming reticules should be built into ranged killers, all the best players use them anyway and they aren't bannable. However, it could make Deathslinger even more broken than he already is without one.
Freddy attracts the absolute worst type of killer players. Ones that go out of their way to be asses post game.
Also, Spirit doesn't take anywhere near as much skill to play as other top tiers. She's very basic, stop pretending guys.

People's main complaint is that he was too weak. A rework wasn't the only solution to that.
There was also the "you can run but can't hide" aspect. Freddy only lost a chase if he wanted to, thanks to the aura reading. People might have forgotten because nu-freddy is so awful but it wasn't fun to be on the receiving end of.

Yeah, I don't get the change. Twins is exclusively strong if you play a very boring playstyle that most killers don't want to commit too. I've played against 6 Twins since the PTB. Hopefully a rework is on the cards as they're the worst designed killer in maybe all of dbd history.

I main old freddy and it pretty much the same except you don't wait 7 sec and other various things. Old freddy was invisible until you fall asleep. As the old freddy you had to be able to juggle the survivors. Why people never did that is beyond me.
This. Old Freddy was basically a test of your ability to keep track of gens, survivors, red stain mindgames (he had zero anti loop or mobility) and knowing when and when not to commit to chases.
Sometimes it was better to drop someone into the dream then beeline to two others on a gen, sleep them and commit to one of them. He was very weak overall, but he was really fun when you played well.
He also forced regression and slowdown with that 50% action speed. If you got all 4 survivors in the dream that was free regression. Ontop of any perks you had. And it was STILL more fun that forever and current freddy.

Shack & House of Pain are infinites
Even against average survivors (and with pallet gone), these tiles are lose/lose situations for Trickster. Average survivors will have no problem vaulting the window(s) 3 times, and veteran survivors will find it incredibly easy to loop Trickster for over a minute on one of these tiles.
Insult to injury is the fact that generators spawn in these tiles, so a less experienced Trickster may spend their entire game chasing a survivor around one of these tiles because the generator there is at 70%+
Other 110% killers can play around these tiles, because their kit enables them an opportunity (however small) to damage a health state. Trickster is given the same opportunities to deal only a fraction of a health state, and is required to give up distance to do so. The only winning move is for him to hold W-key, and hope Bloodlust 3 carries him to an M1.
So far I've just abandoned chase at these tiles, only continuing if the survivors is 1 or 2 knives from going down. He needs 115% base.
I see him like Blight, has the ability to counter some loops, and is very strong against holding W, but has little utility outside of that where it actually matters (jungle gyms, shack, house of pain).
-
If a perk is broken you won't get banned for using it. One time they broke Wake Up and it gave a global, permanenet 15% speed boost. People abused the hell out of it and got away just fine.

So, as everyone already knows, Freddy recently got nerfed. I personally doubt the changes will effect him too much, but what I'm mad about is that it shows the devs' ignorance towards his actual problems. The problem with Freddy wasn't that he was strong, it was that he was strong and boring.
Instead of making his power fun and interesting for both sides, they just gave him a nerf and called it a day.
But I digress, this wasn't what I made this thread to talk about.
No, what I'm TRULY mad about is the fact that they haven't given us a way to play as Old Freddy.
I've seen so many people asking to play as him again, and I completely understand why. Though Old Freddy may not have been the strongest out there, he was unique, there was no other killer like him.
Hell, why the devs thought reworking Freddy in the first place was a good idea, I simply do not understand.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D4WVECR9D4JR/image-284-29.png
All they needed to do is revert this nerf, and I personally believe Freddy would have been in a perfect spot.
Like, is it really that hard to give us an add-on, or a toggle of some kind to let us use Old Freddy's power? I see no reason why the devs haven't already done this, other than out of laziness, or stubbornness.
Hell what makes it even worse, is that they REUSED ASSETS FROM OLD FREDDY'S POWER FOR THIS NERF.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwaDgSKImpI
In King's video, at around 5:40 seconds in, you can see him hit a Dwight, and it plays the exact same effect as when Old Freddy would try to hit an awake survivor.
You guys have the assets, why is there no option to play as Old Freddy?
#GiveUsBackOldFreddy
If they do it it should be by add on only. I mained him for 2 years and really loved his weirdly unique playstyle but he was real bad against any half decent team.
New freddy is anti-fun hand holding incarnate, but he's at least semi viable. I would have loved to use my 100 second gate Remember me build with that new Trickster perk lol. shame they gutted remember me with EGC
-
Iron Maiden is a meme on Huntress, so far I see no difference with Trickster. I caved and got him with shards and will admit that he's significantly more enjoyable than his PTB form but he's still low tier.
He still has absolutely no way to play around high wall loops, and being 110% with no major anti loop or mobility makes these loops massive time sinks.
He is actually quite fun to play as now though.
-
@MedicSpirit7 said:
Just make him 115% base and take less knives to down. They also shouldn’t decay
Agreed. Just put a few hours into him. There's no justification for it. He has no mobility to his power and he absolutely is not anti loop like other 110% killers. His ranged also isn't as devastating as Huntress or Slinger.
115% won't help his map pressure much but it can mean the difference between 1 or 2 more rotations to every loop.

Certain killers SHINE on the indoor maps. Doctor, Demo, Even Plague can be good there. Just need to have a detection perk that works on those maps like Spies (Doc has built-in detection so he's exempt). Whispers tends to be almost useless on indoor maps (especially The Game). I've seen many killers who rely on Whispers, and those are the ones that have the biggest issues indoors. Indoor maps are the #1 reason I use Spies and/or Surveillance. Gotta rely more on game sense and audio than line of sight, too.
tl;dr Indoor maps are just as viable for killers as open maps, just require different skill set.
I can't find any killer I enjoy on this map at all. It's not about viability or winning or losing. I win most of my matches on this map. It's just not remotely fun to play on.

And no I don't mean it as a "Wahh they are so mean! they tick the flashlight and teabag!".
I mean they have zero fear, zero worries, you're literally aproaching them wtih the intention of killing them and they won't care. You can approach them while they are doing a gen and they will just laugh it off and keep doing it, specially if they are about to finish it, after all, why would they even worry when they can just use one of the 9999 pallets near them if you hit them or if you hook them someone will just unhook them.
Killers are as scary and threatening in the game as a flower. Hell Survivors will even keep doing gens with no worries even while having deep wounds.
There's literally nothing to be scared of outside your first 20 hours or so. It's a video game, and not a particularly scary one.
