Not necessarily; you can just change the displayed resolution on your monitor to achieve the same effect.

This, obviously, doesn't make it any less of an exploit. It still should be fixed.

Honestly, I can't really give an answer for it. It's a nice feature to have, because it allows you to use customised icons/portraits (which BHVR could make a fortune off of selling in the store) but at the same time allows you to change graphical options to a better setting then the presets of "Low", "Medium", "High", and "Ultra"- like, for me, my eyesight is awful so I'd have to play on Low settings normally, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see anything, but being able to change the files let's me keep shadows on low and have other things higher so the game looks nicer.

This wouldn't be a thing if the game had proper graphical settings, but unfortuantely it doesn't, so I have to resort to this.

And being able to edit these files also allows other... less innocent graphic adjustments, such as making the red stain brighter, or removing fog.

Hopefully, they'll implement the better graphics options (planned for later this year) and then lock the .ini files.

If I never saw Zubatlels perk icons again because of this I'd be very sad indeed.

Pretty much spot on with my data. Meg, Claudette, and Feng are in the triple digits while Jeff is at 10, Quentin is at 9, and Tapp is at 13. Adam isn't too far ahead of them at 19 with Ash at 20. The guys get very little love. The lowest female besides Yun-Jin Lee is Laurie at 27 and Jane at 29. Most of the ladies are past 50 or near it.

I've always played female survs just because they're smaller and better at stealth personally. I was thinking of playing Ash as AvED was an amazing show but hes so god damn loud.

So yet another thing us lowely consolers cannot ever do...

In all fairness I haven't played a multiplayer game in recent memory thats just allowed something like this to continute unaddressed other than DBD.

Apex Legends had an issue with players disabling the smoke particle effect from Bangalores smoke grenade ability, allowing them to see right through it. It was fixed almost immediatley and people that used it were banned. I'm not saying people that use it should be perma'd here, as its partially on the devs for not commenting, but it does give a blatant unfair advantage.

Just wanted to make a thread for all the people who main the more rare survivors. I main Jeff and Jane and honestly I see another Jeff like once a month. Same goes for Tapp, Quentin, Ashe, Adam and zarina players.

These survivors really don’t get the love they deserve by both the cosmetic team and the players. some of them like Jeff and Adam have gone insanely long times without cosmetics and this only leads to them being played less. It would be really nice to see some more variety in my lobbies.

I'm pretty sure poor ol' Jeff is the least played. Guess most people don't like the rocker beer belly dude.

Quentin and Tapp are probably close.

Why is there a mechanic that basically does the job for the killer? I remember when this did not exist and killers were forced to hunt survivors and actually put in effort to finish the game.

I have been noticing a pattern for a long time that no matter what you do the killer always and I mean every single game will hook the 3rd survivor and immediately go straight to the hatch, close it and watch the gates for an ez win. Isn’t games supposed to be challenging? There is literally nothing as a survivor you can do to win in this situation at all. There is no hope when a killer sits on 3 gens and then wins by closing the hatch every time in this situation. It is not fair.

Before this mechanic was added, killers had tension in either watching the hatch or not. As survivor at least you had an opportunity to escape by either doing the last gen or finding the hatch if the killer didn’t know where it was at. There was actually hope in trying to escape. Now there is not any at all and it really baffles me how this is not discussed more.

I have an idea to fix this grossly imbalanced mechanic and add a little hope and make the killer not have an ez win for free. Why is kicking a hatch closed actually locking it? This is the major flaw in its design. It should be closed but NOT locked! The survivor can still open the hatch but instead of it being immediately opened as it does so with the key, the survivor has a 3 second struggle to open it. This way the killer is not getting an ez win by watching the gates and the survivor can open the hatch and get out if he leaves it.

It only exists because of survivors hiding for an eternity once the killer found hatch or when tehere was only 2 players left. It exists to prevent get you out of that goddamn gate.

Why in the entity's blue butthole can the game files be accessed? I assume this is a PC only thing again? Just, why???

Not sure about multiplayer games but being able to access and edit files is common for PC games. It's how you enable certain mods in games like Fallout, for example.

Most multiplayer games like DBD scan your files to make sure nothing is out of order, afiak. I don't know why this is allowed if it's enabled by file editing.

I am definitely trying to practice my running. Trouble I'm having is killers who just want to tunnel and camp. Just had a game with a Ghostface basement camper. Don't see the point of playing like that, it's not fun for anyone and I can't practice escaping in chases.

I'd recommend Kindred if you're still new. It's an absolute godsend for countering campers in solo queue. The amount of info you get from that perk is fantastic.

I'd slipped off a few risky trades as Doc the other night but just assumed is was dbd being dbd. Guess thats another reason to not play killer for a while. I like winning but when its because of a bug it just feels hollow.

The problem is not MMR in itself, but the fact that this game lacks a quickplay mode where ranks and MMR matter less.

With a quickplay mode, and rankeds, would be fine.

Their excuse in the past was not wanting to split the playerbase. I feel like nowadays, despite the queue time problems, theres more than enough players cross plat to justify it.

  • @sad_killer_main said:

MMR doesn't ruin other popular games tho, why would it ruin DbD.

Of course of it's bad designed, but if it's ok It wouldn't hurt.

From what I've seen from the reaction to Skill based matchmaking in Apex and CoD it absolutly has. Sometimes, players, even good players. Just want to chill out and play relaxed outside of ranked modes. MMR doesn't allow that. EVery match becomes a sweat fest and isn't fun.

Good survivor? Enjoy playing od Nurses and stacked slowdown Spirits

Good killer who happens to enjoy a low tier like Clown or Trapper? Enjoy playing against 4 man sweat squads with all meta builds

    It's a real bad idea.

  • @ClownIsUnderrated said:

I know I made a post saying I was done with DBD, but sadly as conflicted as I am I don't think I'll ever be able to quit this game. It's just I've put so much time and stressful grinding into this game, and me turning my back on it just makes me feel like I'm a quitter. But since I'm still stuck with DBD, I'm gonna start changing my views towards the game.

I don't want to think about the bad balancing decisions, I'll talk about it on here but when I'm playing the game I'd rather not think about it. If I like an outfit that I see in the store, then I'll just buy it. Pretty much want to support the cosmetic team, because not gonna lie that new Clown outfit is pretty good. I just want to be happy when I'm playing DBD, and I don't normally get butthurt about losing because it's gonna happen in a video game. Also I simply refuse to level up all the survivors to level 50 with every single perk, probably won't bother doing this until perk tiers are maybe gone. I'll just stick to the survivors I enjoy playing, also Kate is bae af.

I'm pretty much starting a new relationship with DBD, and hopefully this one will keep me positive. I still do rather well at the game as both survivor and killer especially with how bad bugs and the servers are. Even though I won't be quitting the game, breaks are still definitely gonna be a thing for me. Because I can't really sit down and play DBD every day like I used to two years ago, plus I like playing other games. It's 2021 and this is a year of positivity for me, I want to be happy and just play all sorts of new games and go back to games in my backlog.

I'm thinking of taking a long break and deactivating my forum account.

As much as I don't enjoy the game and the directions its headed nowadays I still love it and play it a lot (if that makes sense). I think the point I stopped enjoying the game as much was when I started browsing the forums more, getting caught up in endless (pointless, at least with these devs) balance discussions, etc. Getting annoying by things in the game that I was blissfully unaware of before coming here.

It's been really bad the last year where thanks to Covid I'm on paid leave for nearly the entire year. Stuck inside trying to stay physically and mentally healthy, and the amount of time I spend on here getting heated over what is ultimately pointless discussion. I got banned for a month a while back and didn't visit once and despite that I felt like I was spending my spare time more productively, like getting back into reading. And it felt good.

I want to be at the point where I just enjoy the game again and don't give a ######### about whats op and whats not. Not seeing all the faults in the game every time I power it on.

I'm the opposite myself, I want to play but I just can't bring myself to. Don't wanna play surv cause it's not fun to go vs Spirit, Slinger, Phead etc. Killer controls the fun the survs can have, always mained killer anyway. But with killer I just don't wanna play cause of the maps. I try to give the game a chance, and I play like 8 games and 6 of them are the god awful maps (indoor maps, mothers dwelling, badham, haddonfield) to the point I just can't. Atleast with surv you can suicide on hook, with killer you can't do ######### other than go afk which hardly speeds up the game anyway as survs usually piss about, I also (assuming each map has a 1/36 chance of being picked) get maps I strongly dislike ~2.4x more than expected, I've been tracking this since November. It's just intolerable enough to the point I don't wanna play, and if I do get those maps or keys I just end up facecamping cause I really can't be arsed playing and can't dc. Since the start of 2020, the game has gone downhill massively, tens of awful changes and they've definitely caught up to me, boring killers, new UI, DC penalties, ######### map reworks, ######### maps in general, too many unfun things that my experience is ######### pretty much every time I play now.

    Are you me?

  • I can only play in short bursts nowadays. On both sides. I'm bored of most of the killers and find the new content dull. The few I do enjoy are pretty much unplayable on a lot of the worst maps like Hawkins, the threat of those maps sometimes keeps me from even booting up the game to play killer.

It's not a bad thing. This games given me 3-4 years of entertainment so maybe I'm just slowly burning out. I took a long break from the game at Ghostfaces release and enjoyed the game quite a bit again. Might uninstall until next chapter soon, come back then and see if I enjoy it again.

If a killer swings at all before the pallet drops, they don't get stunned and have a chance of hitting you because the pallet doesn't apply the stun and just moves the killer. Sometimes the killer gets pushed closer to you (you get hit) before it pushes them away from the pallet. The pallet stun stops the cone of hit detection from working for a set time. Without it, you might get wacked still. Hope that helps.

Weird. I wonder how on earth that happened between PTB and Live.

  • Just had another game where a pallet save on me didn't work lol. And no ton pickup, he waltzed through it and got thrown back and kept going.

  • I just got the most egregious hit through a pallet I've ever seen, so maybe.

Dropped the pallet before the lunge animation even started, he slid across the whole thing playing the whole animation and I still got hit.

  • I'd like her to have some form of viable counterplay. I enjoy playing her but the feeling of playing against her is so awful that I struggle to bring myself to make other players to endure it. I still think she's more enjoyable to play against than Slinger and Pyramid Head, however. I know that isn't a high bar but still.

  • @Sluzzy said:

He has never had any nerfs like survivors have had since his release. Once upon a time you could stab him when he first picked you up as it was intended. At least he has a little counterplay, where you might actually find a pallet still standing.

That was just launch DS. It worked that way with everyone. He did get -technically- one tiny buff. Survivors used to hear specific music, the stalk theme from the movie, when micheal was stalking them. It was a cool detail but it made it way too easy to hide from him.

  • Hoping they fix megs face. She's always looked awful compared to most of them.

Honestly if they were to update Michael in anyway without nerfing the ######### out of his kit. They'd remove the speed debuff.

I've been saying for a while that simply removing EW1 would at least help with his weak early game. It serves no purpose since they nerfed it to allow Spine Chill detection.

I've been playin him since he came out.. it's still not that hard to even try and win with michael nowadays in pub games my friend..

True. But whilst some killers can only be beaten by the absolute top tier of survivors in the hands of a good killer (nurse, spirit) any half decent team can absolutely cream a micheal player if they have a decent grasp of looping. At that point all Micheal has going for him is a 99% stalk, which once triggered has to be built again.

He's like Legion, his success is entirely dependant on the survivors misplays. I can play as him and easily win against solo, but I can point out every situation where they gave me the win.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

I’ve tried. I’ve made post after post about my issues as Killer. With SWF, most killers being garbage against decent survivors, etc etc. Now it’s gotten the point where the game is almost unplayable for me. I keep getting Coldwind or shrine maps. I just got Coldwibd five times in a row. On top of that for a very long time now anytime I go in for a hit lag happens, my character freezes up, and I miss the survivor. I’m tired of the million problems with Killer. Congrats dev, you fix DS and now there’s only 999,000 more problems to go. I’m taking a break a break from killer. Probably for a long long time. Have fun with losing another killer player devs. Peace. I’ll just stick to survivor. It’s hella easier and lot less stressful.

Same here kinda. Killer isn't fun anymore. Too many bad maps like Hawkins and The Game/Haddonfield that are just mentally draining to play. Last 4 killers (not including blight) have been complete trainwrecks and huge disappointments or just dull.

Chapters have nothing in store for you if you dislike the killer or survivor as we haven't had new maps in a while. And the reworks just take decent maps and make them worst with breakable walls and such.

Solo survivor is an exercise in patience and not particularly fun either.

I haven't bought the last 2 chapters and probably won't even bother with the next PTB, which is saying something as I bought every chapter day 1 since I first started. I mean, why bother? No feedback will be taken into account.

I think I might uninstall, still keep up with the forums/news incase things get better but I'm not holding my breath.

I have no issues getting downs and timing my t2-t3 right,

Gf doesn't compare up to Michael imho

Been playing him for 4 years. I know what he is and isn't capable of. He's extremely outdated at this point, you only win if the survivors let you.

Yeah,i guess we're just gonna ignore all the killer buffs we got up until now 👀

Don't bring up pallet nerfs or the removal of the pallet vacuum. It doesn't fit the agenda.

You can also loop GF's Exposure..

Cept like i said. Mikey does his job alot better than GF.

Ghostface can stalk someone in 2 seconds without being able to be revealed with a corner peek, can 99% multiple people for insta downs. Can Shroud to remove his red stain at loops and doesn't move at 110 with no lunge for the first minute of the match.

He's better in every way, which sucks as I mained micheal when I first started. Survivors got better and he just isn't usable against anyone with a brain now.

No J flick has literally been done for months by good blight mains/players. It's not new at all.

I thought when people said blight was top they were considering j flick, but apparently not.

I would consider myself decent with Blight and other players I watch pretty good at Blight and none of them have ever used it. Some are even agressively against it. He's perfectly viable without it.

  • I like that Blight was considered high tier up until 2 weeks ago when everyone suddenly discovered this tech. Now he's trash tier if it gets removed.

    I dunno bout that houstan...

    People severely doubt michael,

He can expose everyone at once.

GF can only expose one at a time,

Michael already has a low terror radius.

GF can get his power broken out of very easily..

On paper he's better but the second you go against any survivor worth their salt, all you'll have is the 99% stalk down.

No one is staying near him when he's EW3. They'll hold W and loop you until it runs out and you're back to a Trapless Trapper.

GF can click M2 and get a free hit on most LOS breaker loops, also. Micheal is at the mercy of the survivors looping skills.

  • Just be psychic 4head.

Devs should have just gone the mordhau route and hard locked it. In that game once you start that weapon swing EVERYONE is on equal ground.

  • What would you propose they do? If they throw ranks out and just group up anyone that'll be the same problem killers have now. Too many survivors, not enough killers. So killers get radically different levels of survivor skill in their games. One match a 4 man sweat squad, next match 4 grey ranks that don't know what a pallet is.

  • I imagine its like most fps games where the players viewmodel/POV thing (idk I aint a dev) is actually in their neck. Probably explains why you used to have to aim at their neck with flashlights.

  • I think its fair to have some pallets that are extremely unsafe and some that are strong. The problem is maps where theres too many of them cough the game cough There should be a ratio, like every 4 mindgameable pallets have 1 god pallet or something.

I still have nightmares about launch Badham. The amount of completely unmindgameable safe pallets in that school along with that god vault was nuts.

I wonder if theres a way the devs could change flashlight beams to prevent this. Maybe an options menu toggle.

This challenge sucks everytime it looks like I'm going to get a grab my damn character just sticks out their hand and they get away JUST WHY

Because whoever comes up with these challenges hasn't played the game in a good 2 years.

  • Yeah, its become a really big thing in the past week or so. It was known about for a while, then people kept bothering some streamers about it to the point that they made a video so people would stop asking. Now its everywhere.

If more people played them I'm sure it'd be more common, especially with how easy it is to pull off. The problem is very few people play Blight and even less play Oni.

  • The worst thing about breakable walls is that they can't decide if they should help or hinder killer. Some, like Saloon, are literal god pallets. Others like a few of the Mcmillan maps are "never break" for killer because they just buff the survivor when destroyed.

Then you have Wretched Shops 1 wall which is either a god pallet or a MASSIVE nerf to the main building for survivors. Its so inconsistent.

We're really at that point with Scott now eh? Some things never change.

At the very least Scott tries to be more impartial which is nice. Tru3's an alright guy but his fanbase is truly insufferable. Surprised they haven't started wearing bullseye shirts and tattooing "victim" on their foreheads.

  • Its annoying when I get it for quitting a match where a player quit 10 seconds in or something. As killer, 3 mans are no fun at all. I'm not tryharding against 3 players as thats no fun for anyone, and I dislike farming. So I either go idle in a corner and play a game on my phone or make a drink, or just quit and try to find a new game. Oh 5 minute ban for not being an ######### nice.

  • Yeah, I originally planned on playing both as there were no cross saves but I just couldn't go back. Honestly its sad that bhvr just got away with lying for years about optimisation coming. Did they ever even fix SLoppy butcher or noed just freezing the game mid chase for a second?

I feel bad for my console brothers that don't have the money or space for a desk/pc. As it basically made it feel like an all new game to me.

  • I hope it goes.

I like Playing Blight, he's very fun to play. I also like Blight as survivor. Why? Clear, fair counterplay. J flicking is just boosting your dpi and spending 5 minutes learning the mouse movement to remove the killers only counter.

SAying removing it will make you switch to SPirit is pretty funny btw. It's basically admitting you can only excel at killer by playing killers that have no back and forth and basically hand you the win.

It's not much of an issue that PC Huntresses/Deathslingers/Nurses etc are playing against console survivors, because the benefit of keyboard and mouse for survivor doesn't give you much of an edge over controller survivor. They're about the same.

As someone who switched from console to pc my looping abilities and overall performance almost doubled thanks to significantly easier camera control when it comes to loops.

  • Average without good add ons or perks (mainly Chilli, those add ons make him pretty insane at countering loops). With good perks and add ons I think he teeters on being a little too strong for how easy the chainsaw is to use but I don't hate him.
