If "tunneling" is working why would you stop ? The best strat has always been remove one person quickly. You can't 12 hook every game focusing two people is the best stay now with the current DS. Plus if the killer runs in to some just unhooked should they ignore them ?

This unfortunately. See a really bad killer tunneling and hard camping in red ranks? They're doing it because they got boosted by bad survivors who rewarded that playstyle.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Outdated and the worst killer in the game imo. He takes way too long to charge up and his power burst isn’t even that strong honestly

Pretty much agreed, he's sleeper bottom tier (outside of Trickster, probably). Say what you want about Clown, at least he has a chase power.

The problem is if the survivors have the slightest skill at looping or simply rotating their camera whilst on a gen you're in big, BIG trouble with MM.

But Almo/stats said he's fine because lolhighkillrate. The only times I lost to MM in solo nowadays is like the most recent match I played where 2 teammates rushed a hook against a EW3 Micheal.

  • Fairly certain there is no auto aim on console. Huntress and Slinger never had it either iirc. "Version Parity" is the excuse. Yet they allow M+KM Huntresses to play against console players.

Yeah but like Nurse and Blight both have had what I consider techs but the nurse one got fixed and most people on the forums think the blight one is an exploit. Im not trying to say that like the insta PH exploit is a tech cause that is very much an exploit since it doesn't really raise the skillcap of the killer and gives a huge advantage.

While it does technically make Blight deeper, the J flick is obviously not intended due to his stiff sterring by default, that and the devs saying so. It also removes his main form of counterplay. People like Blight because he is strong but also has defined counterplay, like old Billy. We don't need people abusing this to lead to a Billy nerf situation. We know how heavy handed and misguided the devs can be with this stuff.

It also requires 3rd party tools to actually pull off properly. For example, I literally would not be able to get my dpi high enough with my current mouse to even do it. That's not a good thing.

  • @Friendly_Blendette said:

Every killer tech seems to just be called an exploit wether its fatigue cancel or J flicks. I am not going to put my opinion of J flicks here since I don't want to start a big arguement but why does it feel like survivors constantly get new techs but every killer one is labelled an exploit. Like as I am writin this I can't really think of a killer tech but there is CJ tech, heal tech, dumb tech, window tech etc.

People like to scoff and go all "hurr survivor no skill" but survivors skill ceiling is probably higher than half the killer roster, its just that very few players reach it as there is really no need to play that well.

A significant porion of killers are simply limited by their powers. Outside of Red Stain mindgames a killer like Micheal, for example, has no significant tactics that he can use that set him apart from any other M1 killer. Outside of popping a 99% EW3 when 2ft behind a survivor.

  • @Angelicus23 said:

We know that devs completely ignore any kind of feedback because they want to stick on their belived data so complaining and not playing the killer won't help by any instance.

It hurts but it's what it has to be done, if there's no data then don't complain that they don't do anything until next month when they get enough data from the 5 Trickster players.

When the massive load of underoerformance comes is when the killer will be buffed.

I'd be very curious to see his week 1 kill rate. I've played against quite a few and have yet to see more than 1 kill.

  • @SunTzu said:

After this chapter I have come to a conclusion.

The developers don't care about our feedback.

They created a killer just to land in the Korean market, as k-pops are all the rage.

The balance does not care NOTHING.

I just want to hide it so you can give him some money.

THIS GAME THINKS ABOUT SKIN BEFORE BALANCE.

IF YOU DON'T BUY MORE, SEE HOW THEY CHANGE.

The fog whisperers could have told you that. They told them the Midwich map was awful, no changes. They told them Twins was awful. No changes. They told them Trickster was awful. No changes.

  • I think if you're stomping the killer enough to have 4 players left at endgame you usually have enough time to get all 5 totems. That said in solo queue its impossible to tell how many are remaining short of breaking all 5 yourself.

In a way I think this Undying nerf has retroactively made NOED stronger again. I wasn't a fan of old Undying, I thought 2-3 potential respawns of Ruin was carrying a lot of bad killers and making games less fun, that said it encouraged survivors to destroy any totems they see.

New Undying has made Dull totem a non threat again. I say non threat because as annoying as NOED can be as a survivor, it usually only leads to a single additional kill.

  • Not too sure myself. In the past, when he was REALLY bad I saw him as an underdog type. Sort of like old Freddy where to play well you really had to try your absolute best, and even then it might not be enough.

Nowdays I think he's a solid mid tier. He isn't amazing but in the hands of a good killer he can do some damage.

  • The lighting looks nice but for some reason some of the UI animations are on speed or something.

  • @ManWithALemon said:

Is because with that random recoil and spread, it's more up to RNG than your actual aim whether your knives find their mark.

Can't be a skillful Killer if skill is literally irrelevant.

That basically true. afaik those difficulty ratings are just how tough it is to master the power. With Trickster there really isn't anything to master. Doesn't matter if you get the recoil pattern down, really. Because the power itself is so ass.

  • I liked it in the short frame of time where the silenced landings were a permanent passive. Was a good stealth juke perk.

  • Nurse is the only killer whose M1s never connect for me. And I don't mean Freddy tier where he's actually still in range his model is just short. Like even in 40 ms matches that Blink Lunge will get me around corners and through windows that I'm 4-5 meters away from and running.

  • @Brokenbones said:

Are you implying Blight isn't balanced and that an exploit is the only thing that makes him so

That's a really bad statement and it's an insult to all the great Blight players who manage just fine without using an unintended exploit

It being fixed won't hurt the game in the slighest.

Considering Blight was already considered high tier and one of the more skill based killers at launch, agreed. I think this is just exploiters that struggle to actually use his power as intended and use an exploit for easy downs.

But you see no-one talks about this stuff. They kick it into the long grass and then try to make their case about why spirit is balanced.

Spirit exploits are something which completely break the game btw, literally nothing you can do if a spirit knows where you are. There is PLENTY of counterplay to J-flicks. Have you heard of the hunter tech?

You're comparing intentional design to an (acknowledged by the devs) unintentional exploit.

Yeah, Spirit is ######### lame to play against but she was designed that way.

Also, in what universe do you need J flicks to do well as blight? He's a strong killer with a decently high learning curve. Considering that you need to mess with your dpi outside of the game to even be able to do it. That should already tell you something.

the problem is is that the SWF system isn't the problem, 3rd party software like Discord is, the game was never meant to be balanced around the survivors knowing where the killer and each other are at all times

This. Its rare but I sometimes play SWF and we don't use mics or comms. Not every player does.

  • @psionic said:

I'm trying to learn Spirit, but I don't want to rely on Stridor to do well with her.

Do Spirit mains have any advice to deal with Iron Will?

Footsteps. On most maps (when sounds are actually working) you can hear them somewhat decently.

If they have IW and know you don't have Stridor they'll try to hide or double back mid phase, try stopping your phase early if you keep finding they've doubled back, you'll probably end up ontop of them that way.

I am wondering weather or not I should be using spine chill. I want spine chill to help against stealth killers like Wraith, Ghostface, Pig, ect. But I don't wanna relay to much on it. Should I use it or replace it with something else?

I started using it again recently with Fixated, and it was great for stealth jukes and wasting the killers time at gens. However, once I took it off I felt way more vulnerable than usual. It becomes very easy to rely on.

  • I guess its better than Twins so thats something.

Well, you're talking about it, and they probably never thought about it again...

    So ya... who won..

I mean, if one perk makes you so angry you throw the game to kill one player I'd consider that getting owned pretty hard. Also change your name jesus christ.

  • @Kees_T said:

Your post is confusing. You're saying that he had no healing debuffs and your bar was red right? It could be other things such you're healing with a medkit and it ran out of charges, so the Self-Care is used automatically and the bar turned red.

Normally, you put 1 charge per second into your bar, that's why it takes 16 charges/seconds

    Healing with a Med-Kit + Botany Knowledge(33%) = ((33% from 1.0) -> 1.33 * 12) = 16 charges, 12 seconds to fully heal

    Healing with Self-Care + Botany knowledge(33%) = ((33% from 0.5) ->0.66 * 24) = 16 charges, 24 seconds to fully heal

When calculating debuffs and buffs, first you apply the debuff(Self-Care debuff or any perk/add-on that makes your healing slower) and then you calculate the speed buff (like Botany, Desperate Measures, etc..) with that result.

I've played a bit more and in all honesty I admit I could be completely wrong. I could have simply been fooled by "red bar bad" as it had been a while since I had played using that build. Maybe in my head I was used to it being faster or something.

Mine have to be because I kobe they facecamped me for the rest of the game and because I was playing claudette. I literally asked them why they hard tunneled me (teammates tried to take hits and they ignored) and they said I was a black monkey good thing it wasnt in the in game chat so I cant report them to BHVR and they are probably playing to this day.

Kept using repressed alliance on a pop using Spirit. On the third time he just threw the match to tunnel me off hook and ended with 1 kill. I almost double pipped though so who really won?

  • He's not very deep (then again DBD isn't as a whole). Everything that could be tried has already been tried. He sucks.

Every time a new map is made, there's another chance for a Haddonfield 2.0. So I'm pretty content just getting reworks.

While the last full map we got wasn't great from a gameplay perspective, I'd rather have something new than these ass reworks where they just throw on a new coat of paint and desperately try to find places for breakable walls.

As someone who hasn't been convinced by these last 2 killers after the ptb, there's been very little to enjoy the last 4 months or so.

  • Personally I think the hatch should only ever spawn on all gens completed or last survivor.

That way you won't have 2 survivors playing hide and seek for 20 minutes when they're in a losing situation, or killers that hook the final player and beeline straight to the hatch and spam space. It would make the hatch hunt a lot more enjoyable for both sides.

The real problem is should keys still be able to open a killer closed hatch? Because right now there's basically no winning situation when a survivor has a key and knows where the hatch is, even if you reach it first (even if you've already closed it).

  • @Nathan13 said:

I haven't went against a Myers in forever. how about you guys??

Just went against a scratched mirror Myers and it was as boring as expected. Don't get me wrong, scratched mirror can be fun if the player actually wants to play the role of the Shape and go for jumpscares. But this guy just got a gen pull and camped whilst the rest of my team stayed within stalk range and threw the entire match away.

  • @indieeden7 said:

Exploits are generally only considered as such if they are unintended. Killers being unable to pick up survivors who are being healed probably is intended

This. Not being able to pick up someone being healed, intended. Blight "J techs" or climbing a rock that the killer can't get up? Exploit.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I feel stupid for asking this since I've been gaming for 35 years but what does tech mean? I hear people talking about the term all the time.

    "technique".

  • I like it, that said barely anyone knows it exists. I've had survivors die that otherwise would have lived if they hadn't cancelled my heal and tried to crawl that last 2 meters.

  • @FireHazard said:

I mean to be fair, waiting 3-4 hours for a match on Xbox is insane, but 10 minutes is also not acceptable when it comes to the fast pace nature of this game now.

He's embellishing. I had the console version at launch, before it took off wait times were long but nowhere near that long.

  • But... new DS has no difference in how it functions if you're being tunneled compared to old DS. It's just as effective anti tunnel wise. The change exclusively nerfed using it agressively as a tool of temporary immunity.

  • This forum could be used for a university study on victim complexes.

  • @VexTheHex said:

It's not needed. Or are we going to remove Nurse, Spirit, Blight, and Freddy from the game with this massive buff?

Being able to run Ruin/Undying, Pop and Corrupt on Freddy isn't enough. I also need Overcharge and Sloppy butcher.

  • I only played about 6 games against him but everyone on PC was just talking about how trash the actual killer is, not the player. Including the killer players themselves.

  • I'll probably get attacked for this but I'd have been fine with it only cancelling on actual objective progressing actions like Gens, Totems and Gates. Or at the very least only when the DS user themself is healed, not healing someone else.

  • @Aztreonam78 said:

Now Decisive Strike is much more of a pure anti-tunnel perk encouraging good gameplay from the Killer while not punishing him for doing good. However, I am convinced that there a few more changes that would definitely make Decisive and the game better:

    I) Add additional interactions performing which results in Decisive Strike's deactivation, such as:

    • Unlocking or rummaging Chests
    • Opening Exit Gates
    • Self mending and mending others
    • Rescuing Caged Survivors against Executioner
    • Cleansing using Plague's Fountains of Devotion
    • Sealing Demogorgon's Portals

II) Decisive Strike does not activate after self unhooks. The self escape from hooks must be a wise decision to even consider.

III) Increase Decisive Strike's Skill Check size to normal.

IV) Make the perk have stronger impact against tunnellers that may play very aggressive Killers like Nurse or Spirit:

    • Decisive Strike allows Survivors to escape the Killer's grasp and stun him more than once.
    • 5 seconds stun is applied AFTER animation during which a Survivor is being dropped ends, leading to 6 seconds of inability to move.

    V) There is always a Survivor that at the start of the match becomes the Killer's Obsession.

I'm pro infinite-timer-if actually-getting-hard-tunneled myself. As someone who detests tunneling/camping as killer and finds it very boring to play, yet finds in shockingly common in red ranks solo queue games, I think theres a lot of killers who would actually be forced to git gud and make games more dynamic and enjoyable with this change.

No DS on self unhooks... I dunno. It would certainly make a Deliverance/DS combo at end game no longer an instant win, but i feel like that situation is kind of a potential reward for A. Only having 2 perks all game B. Not getting hooked at all until endgame. So I dunno how I'd feel about that.

  • I am glad I no longer get punished for playing too well. It didn't happen every game, and leading up to the nerf I was already seeing less and less DS, but I'm glad its the case. It was always so frustrating and demoralising to potentially lose all your pressure because a survivor made an idiotic play, that in any other situation would have lost them the game, and be rewarded.

  • @Altarf said:

Ah, yes, a perk that only activates when you're carrying someone, doesn't tell you if anyone's affected by it, only lasts for 30 seconds, only works on basic attacks and has a big cool-down regardless of whether it activates, that's useless on injured survivors. Truly a meta perk.

If you're looking for another good survivor perk, look at Smash Hit. You get 4 seconds of sprint burst while the killer is stunned in place and then has to break the pallet. The chase is basically won then, against a killer without a mobility power.

True. But a good killer is only getting pallet stunned if they're using Fury/Enduring.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

I stayed silent about this topic, because I really wanted to see the community's reaction. These are simply observations, so let's dive straight in.

Starting from the killer side, some killer mains when they heard the news, had to quickly change their pants, because they have almost 30 forums complaining about Ds and bhvr finally heard their prayers.

The other 50% of the killer playerbase, maybe less than 50, don't really give a #########, because it was something that they could predict and play around, but it was a good change, they suppose

On the other side of the spectrum, some survivor mains deleted the game the moment they heard about the ds change, because they were so addicted on running it. They think it's totally fair to do a gen in front of the killer because they have ds, or finish 1 gen with a teammate, get downed and still having ds active. These players either complain in the forums or they cry in bed because bhvr betrayed their trust.

Now the other half, and more reasonable survivor playerbase are kinda annoyed that they can't do gens because ds will deactivate, but they guess that the change was worth making because ds was mega powerful. They will probably remove it from their build, but it's not the end of the world for them.

What do you guys think about my observations? Notify me down below.

DS only bothered me in fringe cases where I had a whole using it and I got punished for simply playing too well against them. As a survivor I haven't used the perk in years so... meh.

  • I wonder how significant the drop in Pyramid Head mains will be now that DS is going to be way less common.

  • @Zozzy said:

I hope this starts to get heavily abused when more people pick him up. Maybe then the devs wills top being lazy and fix it.

I heard that Mcclean commented on a little while back about it being unintentional. That's a good sign that something may be done about it.

  • I just wanted them to make it so survivors couldn't laugh in my face on a gen whilst injured knowing if I grab them, DS, if I down them, up in 12 seconds from unbreakable.

I'm satisfied with this change, though on the survivor side I'd maybe want an infinte timer while in chase or something to punish the actual trash hard tunneler killer. Not a dealbreaker for me though.

The amount of games I lost not due to actually being outplayed, but having a survivor heal or just get picked up at 59 seconds or go for an unhook in my face with DS active before I could leave the hook, only to get grabbed and DS me and lose all my pressure was crazy.

Old DS rewarded stupidly aggressive and braindead plays for experienced survivors who knew how to exploit it.

I look forward to never getting DS'd again.

I'm not bragging about my devotion, I'm showcasing that I actually know what I'm talking about, because I'm not a new player just complaining to complain. I shouldnt have to equip 2 perks so I dont get tunneled, specially when in solo Q i already have to have kindred and bond already as almost mandatory.

Bond and Kindred is rather pointless imo. Just drop bond and keep kindred.

  • I only didn't finish the 3rd one and missed some cool stuff. It annoyed me quite a bit even though it was outfits for characters I don't even play. Ended up burning myself out completing the next 2. That and the extremely disappointing new content in the last 6 months makes me not want to bother at all. THe rewards mostly suck anyway. Recolors of 4 year old outfits and such.

  • It's a fun idea for a power, kinda like Legion. It's just not even remotely well implemented.

  • They lied for 3 years about fixing console performance then just jumped to the next gen consoles without any fixes. Don't hold your breath.

  • I gotta admit I was really feeling let down when Billy's new theme had no banjo.

  • I lost all hope the second I played the PTB. Not buying him, maybe down the line if I want the perks maybe. These last 2 chapters have been incredibly disappointing. Almost feels like no new content in 6 months. Blight was fantastic after feeling pretty let down by PH and finding Slinger rather dull. I'm wondering if they'll ever make anything I want to buy ever again.

Less interesting new content for me makes me play the game less, and in turn I don't want to buy new outfits and stuff. Saved a lot of money the last 6 months on this game.

I don't care if a killer is weak or strong if they're at the very least fun to play as or against. But man is Trickster dull for both sides.

Also Idk why they have maken his main event automatic. Not a smart solution. I just can not stop anymore and follow the survivor behind the wall with a knife in my hand to continue shooting him. Now it works only in open fields. 🤡

If you could store it up to unleash it when you wanted he could be a decent killer to ambush and punish gen stacking. Even then he'd still be a worse bubba though.

  • This isn't like Huntress or Deathslinger where the hit is near instant though. You still have to track their movement, ALONG with the recoil and then hit them with 7 more knives just for a single health state.

  • @GeneralV said:

Honestly, the only good thing about Trickster is his trailer. Everything else is just awful and unhealthy. His aesthetic is weird and honestly doesn't fit DBD at all. His power is so weak that he is literally the worst killer in the game. And his map pressure, which is extremely important on higher ranks, is nonexistent.

I've enjoyed every single DBD chapter, even A Binding of Kin (somehow). But All-Kill is nothing more than a huge disappointment.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2064492#Comment_2064492

Well, yes... and no. Trickster and Old Legion have a somewhat similar mechanic, but there is a difference:

Old Legion was a very broken killer with zero counterplay and exploits.

Trickster is a very weak with so much counterplay that his power is not even threatening.

Yup, he's the anti deathslinger. He's on the complete other end of the scale. Slingers lack of real counterplay to insta shots makes him boring and stomp players in chases. Trickster has so much easy counterplay that chases last forever and are extremely stale and dull, its rare for him to even get a hit. In the past people have said killer only wins through survivor mistakes, which is something that I half agree and half disagree with. Trickster is the embodiment of that statement.

  • I'd keep it just incase you don't have a teammate using an obssession perk. In my experience of all my time in dbd, one thing has never changed. If a killer see there's no obssession, even if theres no reason to as they're already dominating, they will continuously hook the same guy to death. Just having an obssession logo can completely change how a lot of killers play, the threat of DS alone scares them into playing, you know, fun and dynamic.

I don't use DS as its always felt a little cheap, maybe I'll pick it back up again sometimes soon.
