yeah if you manage to slugg 4 people within 45 seconds its an insta win.. I can think of 1 killer who can do that. You know who it is? lets see if you find out.
Thats why i dislike anything about this, from the insta mori to the ub basekit. One screws over soloQ hardcore, the other screws almost all of the killers, even completely destroying some. (twins for example)
There's video evidence of more than one killer doing this.

Shame.

Honestly, easy explanation. When you're queuing solo, you're guarantying that at the very least you are not in comms and you're not picking your teammates.
As killer, you remove that guaranteed detriment from the survivors.

How something works on paper and how something works in practice are two very different things, we can have concerns about what is written on said paper, but we won't know if those concerns are actually valid or not until we get to see it in action for ourselves
Simply not true, sorry. You can evaluate concerns on paper, and those concerns are still legitimate and worth discussion.
There will be doomsayers, and there will also be reasoned arguments. Both have a right to not "Be quiet."

I don't understand.
Neither did they, because it's simply not a prevention. Many killers will have no issue slugging the last two over and over.
It's free real estate.

There is enough information out to understand the fundamental changes and form an opinion on them.
Also, telling people to be quiet is such a great way to make people be quiet, especially when they have the right not to be.

@Laluzi said:
It's a bit overshadowed by everything else wrong with the announcement, but I feel it still needs to be said.
Moris are now turning into personal bloodpoint offerings - you get 8k/12k/20k bloodpoints for getting 2/3/4 kills and a finisher mori.
To begin with, nobody needed more personal bloodpoint offerings, period. All but the strongest BP offerings are oversaturated and unwanted. More importantly, these are still worse than survivor puddings in all but the worst of games, and in a failed game with a sub-20k score, you're not getting the mori bonus anyway because you almost certainly lost (and survivor puddings are both cheaper and lower rarity.) It's only better than a survivor pudding if you facecamped or speedran the game as Starstruck Nurse, and do we honestly want to encourage that?
The major issue here is that you can effectively win the game and get three kills, but you'll still lose out on the mori reward if the last survivor gets hatch. Which is effectively random unless you slug for the 4k, which is gameplay survivors expressly hate - and it's also nerfed in this upcoming patch, which just means that killers are going to play drawn out slug games where they alternate tagging the final two survivors for 10 minutes in an attempt to get their crappy 20k bloodpoints. And those games are going to be even worse than before, because survivors have no incentive to pick each other up with infinite Unbreakable and the downed player is not a lure.
This is bad design. Please do not do this. The reward needs to be much better for these things to have a niche at all, but even then, you're encouraging rampant slugging unless the hatch stops being an instant lose condition. I would honestly prefer moris to be left as they are so I don't lose the ability to kill several people in one match.
Frankly, I look forward to slug-tagging to make use of the new Mori.
Not because I think it's well implemented, I just know survivors are going to lose their mind about constantly being slugged when it's the last two alive and we know BHVR is going to have to change this.

@Pulsar said:
I know, I know. Controversial statement, but hear me out.
Because of the recent explosion of cheating (again), I think it's time we look at the DC penalty and evaluate it. As of right now, I don't think it's worth keeping in the game. Here's why.
The penalty doesn't actually stop or dissuade people from leaving the match. How many DC's do you see on a regular basis? For me, it's quite a few. How many people do you see give up on Hook? For me, it's a lot. Between the amount of people who just DC combined with the amount of people who suicide on hook, I'd say it's about equal to how it was prior to the DC penalty being added. If people want out of a game, they can't (and shouldn't) be forced to stay.
The penalty affects people who don't want to DC more than people who do DC. We all know the situation with cheaters and content creators right now. They are being forced to either DC and rack up penalties or to sit through a 2-hour hostage situation. Every time I see someone DC on Xbox and I look at their profile, they've either already shut off their Xbox (meaning that penalty is completely meaningless to them) or they've switched to another game, which also makes the penalty meaningless to them.
Now, you might say, "Well Pulsar, people would DC at the slightest inconvenience prior to the DC penalty, why would you want that back?" That's a great point. However, to counter it, I ask you to look around. Those people who DC'd before at the slightest inconvenience? They just kill themselves on hook, go AFK, purposefully seek out the Killer to throw the game or they DC. It's not really changed anything.
With the queue times being pretty good on both sides right now, the hacker situation and the general state of the game, I've come to believe that DC's penalties no longer make sense and that they are doing more harm than good. I'd rather be able to go next than to be stuck in a game where someone is cheating or if I suspect someone is cheating. I think it's worth testing it at least, thoughts?
Not a controversial decision. Just the completely wrong decision.

Nurse and SWF are the two biggest bottle-necks in balancing the game which is the only thing I even said about Nurse. The second half to that remark Just sounds like a random projection cuz I didn't mention anything else concerning Nurse or Killer beyond my one simple sentence. You have no idea what my stance is on the topic of kill-rates or the food chain between Solo/Killer/SWF
You just randomly wanted to attach me to a talking point of yours, even though it has nothing to do with what I said
It had plenty to do with what I said, which is why I namedropped you. I didn't quote you because I didn't feel like engaging with you, based on your first post. Hence, as an example only.

I don't think they are, but I'm interested in reading some takes on the matter!
If they felt the kill rate in the low 50%'s wasn't high enough, well that's a pretty indicative comment. Most likely, the kill rates at the upper levels where survivors simply have uncompetitive resource advantages were way too low. This could lead many, including myself, to assume that they're at least attempting to balance around SWF.
Edit: And then you get people like AJ who's like "They can't be, Nurse exist!" - completely dismissing the reality that kill rates are probably significantly worse the higher you climb.

Tilting an opponent has always been good strategy. If people think in game actions are toxic than they're really trying to be triggered. Once a game has been decided, poor manners are indeed toxic.

This isn't about what I bring into trials...?
This is about game balance, not what I personally consider bringing into a game. Frankly, I don't actually see that many Nurses, because this take is not based on my personal experiences, it's based on a wider understanding of the game than that.
The wider understanding is Nurse benefits from these perks exactly like other killers do. Use the provided counterplay.
Or don't. I won't lose sleep over it.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3192206#Comment_3192206
Something doesn't become balanced because of one perk you could bring if you think you might see it. I'm not going against killers using aura perks frequently, but if I were, I wouldn't have a problem with it, because even the killers who use aura reading the most effectively can't hold a candle to the highest potential of the Nurse.
This isn't a "mad because bad" situation, guys, I happen to think this is unbalanced even though I don't face it that often. That's kind of a lose/lose argument for you, because either it's happening so often that it's forcing you to equip a specific perk all the time, or it doesn't happen that much and so safeguarding against it with basekit changes won't affect that many people.
If you only 'might see it' then it's clearly not the overblown threat it's made out to be. There exists a meta, if Nurse aura reading is SO overpowered, use distortion. It's a fantastic perk. Nurse triggers aura perks the same way every other killer does, and suffers the same cooldown restraints.
The devs aren't going to spoon feed anyone anymore than that.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3192181#Comment_3192181
It really seems like your takeaway here is that the Nurse is fine, though, and that's pretty clearly not the case.
Again, there's no counterplay for a killer that can instadown you through walls with aura reading. If the Nurse doesn't have those, great, there's counterplay- assuming that she also doesn't have addons that change the timings for things like recharge and fatigue, anyway. If she does have the former, though, you go down or she misplays, there's no actual counterplay.
Dude. Distortion. It's in the text block you quoted.

MMR should be tightened up so survivor players are placed with survivor players with similar skills. MMR was like this before, but BHVR decide, for these hugely killer-biased forums, that everyone wanted survivor players to be grouped with survivor players with much wider skill differences so every game wouldn't be sweaty.
This made games much worse for survivor players because they get placed with easy to take out noobs and made games for killers less sweaty.
I partially agree with this, there should be easier games every once in a while for killers. However, right now, it's way too much variance and it's making the game horrible for 80% of the player base.
Nothing here is relevant to the point behind my post that you quoted.

Better matchmaking. Return mmr to how it was before when killers were afraid to play the game, and, well, survivors will have a better experience, as they did once before.
At the cost of high end killers, of course. It was a humbling time back then, and a lot of killers have that arrogance back. Maybe it is time for the pendulum to swing?
We waited how many years for DH to take it's rightful hit and we're gonna swing back after a few months?
Nothing wrong with better MMR, but MMR is already ingrained into every issue this game has. I just assume we're all accounting for the system being #########.

If you removed the portion of survs that plays only solo, you'd lose well over half your player base on that side. ~50% of games include a full solo team. Something like 5% of games have a 4 person SWF, so that means over 90% of games have at least one solo/random in them. Balancing around the four man is absolutely not the way to go.
People who play in groups have this feeling that most people do the same, but that's not remotely true. Would it be ideal? Well, yeah, but that's not the reality we're operating in here.
If you balanced the game around 4 man SWF, you'd have to buff killer even more. Significantly more. You think solo is bad now? It pales in comparison to what a game balanced around SWF would be. Current solo would seem like a cakewalk; it actually would kill the game. The vast majority of survs are solo players; if you make the game only really playable in a group, those people aren't going to go find people to play with (which they would already have done, probably), they'll quit altogether.
Fortunately, balancing around 4 man would be an almost impossible task for BHVR, in addition to torpedoing their own game.
What needs to happen, and what I believe will happen, is to give some tools to solo in order to bring it in the direction of SWF, in the form of information. In match activity icons, more lobby info, etc. Just a bit of what SWF has will do wonders for game balance.
They're not balancing around a 4-man stack. They're balancing around the survivor potential. SoloQ can play to potential, but again, the magic phrase is, "You can't pick your teammates in SoloQ." BHVR can never force them to play to potential.

Giving solo survivors information on what their teammates are doing would be a step in the right direction. Many other games give their solo players some form of information system at basekit. In dbd we have to patch those issues ourselves with perks.
No, that's moving the goal post. Your original expectation is, per my last comment, impossible. I'm all for the SoloQ QOL fixes they can come up with. It will never change one thing:
- In SoloQ you cannot pick your teammates.
SoloQ will never come CLOSE to SWF.
-

The majority of survivors play solo queue, and their game experience should be just as rewarding as those who play with friends. We all bought the game, and we all deserve to have an enjoyable experience playing it. If the game is balanced around a 4 man swf, which has the fewest players then 80% of survivor players are going to have an unenjoyable and unfair experience.
How? How can it possibly be as rewarding? If you don't pick your teammates you are going to have a lesser experience than if you do. This applies to literally every team based game in the history of games.
