  • Looked fine to me. Does the killer need to be riding you like a prize-pony before he's allowed to hit you?

  • I didn't read this whole thread but my God, please stop complaining about DH before the angry survivor mains go, "Rabble Rabble Killers never happy until all survivors start hooked!"

"That just reads like immature brats who weren't raised right."- What does this even mean? lol

Some people definitely have good reasons why they want to leave a game early. Some were even brought up in this thread.

The person the comment was meant for understood it well enough, I don't know why you require an explanation.

Valid reasons for ending the game early can take the DC penalty. This too was already brought up in this thread.

  • I have written entirely wholesome messages where every single word was filtered out.

I have also watched other players try to communicate with me and write out their sentence 20 different ways and I still wasn't sure what they were aiming for with how redacted every line was.

    Mind boggling.

  • You knew what I meant before I even elaborated. If you didn't like the answer you could've actually followed through on not responding to the 'wall'.

Honestly, it's starting to make sense why so many soloQ players can't find an SWF to play with.

Is it because not everyone is comfortable with talking to complete strangers?

or because they don't want to go through the hassle of making DBD work with a group?

or because they don't have friends willing to subject themselves to the experience roulette of DBD?

It's clearly because they're only interested in playing the game when their individual needs are met, and the moment they aren't having fun they become abhorrent to team with.

SWF's weed out those kind of players very quickly.

The simplest solution to this is to remove kobi's outside of Deliverance or Slippery Meat. Kobi's really shouldn't be a thing to begin with, as it's dumb to be able to completely reset the game by sheer luck. The people who want to suicide most likely aren't going to want to sacrifice a perk slot just to give up. And even if they do, there's a chance they can still escape and be forced to play regardless.

All that the current system does is offer a quick "i give up" or confuse new players. So there's really not a substancial negative to removing it aside from some very small chance to clutch a game for free.

I'm usually not for killing play-making diversity, but the removal of the kobe would/'could solve this completely by itself.

I dunno what your deal is but I'm not gonna argue with a wall.

You know exactly what my deal is. I don't throw a tantrum and exit a game because something didn't go my way.

Even if what remains of my team is incapable of pulling anything off. That is the implicit agreement everyone makes when they play a team based game. The quitters don't get invited back.

Honestly, it's starting to make sense why so many soloQ players can't find an SWF to play with.

Not really, no. It's not that deep.

For the casual player, if the game isn't fun, then they'd rather go elsewhere.

DBD is sort of unique in the fact that either side can simply decide that the other will not have fun. If I lose to a Huntress who is cracked out of her mind and 12-hooked us at 1 gen left, I feel good. Not happy that we lost, but it's chill.

If we get a Bubba who just facecamps the first person he downs, the casual player is just gonna let go.

That just reads like immature brats who weren't raised right.

    With extra steps and justifications.

All you're doing is treating symptoms.

Try to address the root issue.

Why do people want out of matches?

Because they're immature brats who weren't raised right. Dude.

Many players are capable of not suiciding on hook even when there experience has been lessened by other players or mechanics they don't like.

  • As many times as I see this topic, I will upvote ideas that support holding quitters accountable.

  • So simple, balance the game properly.

Why has no-one thought of this?!

  • @SuzuKR said:

Different people are comfortable with different killer FOVs and too low or too high can cause accessibility issues like migraines. Some players are forced to use Shadowborn to have a normal playing experience, while others would find the higher amount disorienting instead. A single, static FOV cannot work as a one size fits all.

Even if implementing a killer FOV slider would affect balance or gameplay, the current state of the game forcing people to permanently give up a perk slot for an accessibility issue devs have given no official statement on is not okay.

I saw it on another thread - All we need is a slider between the current FOV and Shadowborn.

Boil Over was always going to be subject to abuse because you gained an advantage over the killer. This is entirely different.

There is nothing stopping trolls from throwing all the pallets on a map, yet that hasn't forced a pallet rework.

Why would survivors abuse something that benefits the killer? They wouldn't. It just wouldn't make sense.

If you really think survivors don't troll each other when they find unique avenues to do so, then this is where I bow out.

While thanking the the BHVR gods for never implementing this idea, of course.

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3211810#Comment_3211810

It would only force a rework if the issue of survivors trolling their teammates was widespread enough for it to be an issue.

Sure, some loops could positively favor the killer but it's not like killers can't destroy those walls ahead of time. The notion that it's unreasonable because of trolling is unreasonable in and of itself.

Several historical events would beg to differ. The community has proven time and time again that when in-game mechanics provide mechanisms for abuse, abuse will shortly follow. The only difference here is this would be considered self sabotage, so you'll see survivors complaining more than killers.

As an example, I recall many saying the new Boil Over wouldn't be abused, it's only broken on RPD. We all know how that turned out.

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3211791#Comment_3211791

It is a personal problem, but it's not like OP is suggesting anything unreasonable. There are so few loops that are actually affected by breakable walls that it would make little to no difference if survivors could break said walls.

There are far more loops, when the walls are broken, that positively favor the killer than favor the survivor. This item would require a breakable wall rework. So yes, creating a new item that forces a rework is probably the definition of unreasonable.

I know for a fact you're not to argue that Left For Dead is easier to get than Evil Incarnate. Or that it somehow requires less luck.

L4D requires you to let your entire team die while hoping that your last teammate happens to die at 1 gen left with the last gen being at least 70-90% done, finishing said gen before killer finds and closes hatch, and then the exit gates have to be far enough apart for you to even have a chance of getting out (and if it's a high mobility killer like Blight, Spirit, Wraith etc then it just ain't gonna happen unless your on Mother's Dwelling with Wake Up and both gates being on completely opposite ends)

Even if you get lucky enough with those first couple circumstances most of the time it simply will boil down to whether or not the killer is sweaty for their invisible trophy. The only way Left For Dead can become remotely tolerable trying to get is if you're in a 4-man SWF on voice comms and you and your friends get yourselves to 1 gen left and then 99% all three of the last remaining gens AND THEN your three friends throw themselves at the killer and purposely get themselves killed so you can go for the achievement. Then and only MAYBE then could I possibly see if taking only 2-3 attempts. And still yet again you'd have to keep doing that until you get lucky with exit gate spawns.

As for Evil Incarnate, honestly if you're REALLY having a tough time getting that achievement, then you wanna know the best/easiest solution i have? Start playing baseline Myers (don't waste any of your pink add-ons yet, save those) and just play a bunch of normal games, get as much hooks and points as you can, but no matter what do NOT kill any of the survivors. Keep letting all 4 survivors escape every game and eventually you'll get to a point after a handful of games where your MMR will get so low that you'll start coming across literal baby survivors that have no clue what is even going on half the time. Then when you're ready just slap on those Iri add-ons and BAM! EZ cheevo poppin'. I know that may seem rather evil to do, but heh, it's literally in the achievement name.

It's what I've been doing with a lot of my adept killer achievements lately. I'll put on the adept build for the killer I'm playing and start playing matches with them, and whenever a match gets to a point where I know I'm in an unwinnable situation, I just spend the rest of the match going for as many hooks and points as I possibly can while purposely letting all the survivors live so that my MMR will gradually go down and I get slightly easier opponents each match until I get a match where halfway through it looks like I'm on track to actually winning with a Merciless Victory then I start actually going for kills at the end and get my achievement. I know people will think I'm a scumbag for using this tactic but hey, not my fault the devs made adept achievements for killer extremely lousy to get especially compared to the survivor adepts.

As a solo survivor, you have a lot of agency in dictating how fast the generators go based on your involvement, or lack thereof. You can bring perks that almost guarantee you'll slammajam that last Gen and win the exit gate tussle.

As Myers, the survivors have TOTAL agency of whether or not you'll complete the challenge. The only thing they need to have is knowledge that the achievement exists. Suggesting you tank your MMR to the point of absurdity still does not guarantee you can get the achievement. Again, knowledge is the ONLY thing a survivor needs. There is nothing you can do to stop them from just sitting in lockers. They have to -let- you.

I'm not struggling with Evil Incarnate, I finished it a long time ago. It is still a horrendous achievement and absolutely more difficult than Left 4 dead.

  • @BenOfMilam said:

    Title.

It would be fun to say "glhf" to the survivors before a match, or say "I'm bringing BPS." If a survivor says "Can you let me go? I'm doing the Self-Care tome." I can say "sure, no problem."

The only thing it would take away is the 0.0001% of survivors that post their perk loadout in the pre-game chat (literally haven't seen someone do that in years). And if you don't want to talk to anyone, you can just close the chat and pretend it doesn't exist.

You might also see an uptick in farming games, which are pretty rare to see anyway. Not that I like farming, though. Would kinda be a downside for me to see more farming games.

It's a horrid, no good, toxic idea.

I love it. There is nothing better than some good trash-talk pre and post coitus Cough I mean game. I'd need a box of Stogeys by my desk if this was implemented.

The only purpose of this was to annoy people. Anyone who would leave because of this...frankly, the game's better off without them.

Usually Sluzzy posts random 'killers are all evil IRL and survivors are all angels and deserve to escape every single game' stuff.

This is the first time I've seen her brushing up against making fun of people for their disability.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3211382#Comment_3211382

'You shouldn't play videogames if you have a disability' is one hell of a take.

    But here's the thing.

I have photosensitivity issues stemming from an incident with a car a few years ago. Not severe, but it's there.

99% of games are fine for me, as long as I'm playing in a well lit room - the only exceptions are older games with constant full-screen 'white' flashes.

Strobe macros in this game have a similar effect, plus the noxious stimuli of the clicking.

...I literally have no idea why you've chosen the 'survivors should be able to troll people with disabilities for the lulz' hill to die on, but when a crusty old forums centrist like myself is calling you bigoted, that may be a sign to take a step back.

They're not very creative. In the same vein as performers before them (Think that Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball skit) they have to push the boundaries as they feel themselves losing relevancy.

I know we're more inclined to respond simply because the topic is both more important and more sensitive than the topics that they usually sabotage, but unless the post is flaggable I'm still on my crusade to inform people that they're feeding the fire.

If they are breaching forum TOS, flag and move on.

I got Evil Incarnate on my 2nd attempt back in 2019.

Meanwhile almost half-a-decade later since I first started playing and I still haven't gotten Left For Dead nor will i probably ever.

Left 4 Dead you can get simply by being patient and running perks. Evil Incarnate is an achievement where the other team, upon knowing exactly what you're running after the first survivors death gives it away, can literally make the achievement impossible for you.

You got extremely lucky, but Left 4 Dead's difficulty can be reduced by skill and ingenuity. Evil Incarnate's difficulty can be reduced only by finding an SWF streaming and asking them to help you out.

Because there's some walls that literally can leave you trapped. Like HOP on Badham, can have a breakable wall split in the middle of the top floor.

You missed the part where other people highlighted the same edge case. I could highlight that Badham is an absolutely fantastic survivor map to begin with, but it's not even necessary when the proposed item would essentially require a map offering and would still allow survivors to troll each other more than they could ever hope to use it to improve their odds.

  • @Mooks said:

Some walls when when broken could make a loop stronger eg the one in the schon in Springwood. Or the one in the house of pain also in Springwood I think.

Could also help with some weird deadends eg on the Game

    Seems extremely niche.

At the worst, survivors would be able to troll their team super hard.

  • @Sandt21 said:

A green rarity sledgehammer can break one breakable wall over the course of 7 seconds.

A purple rarity sledgehammer can break two breakable walls over the course of 7 seconds per use.

A red rarity sledgehammer can break 3 breakable walls over the course of 7 seconds per use.

Add-ons could include things such as: faster speed for breaking breakable walls, aura reading for a few seconds after breaking a breakable wall, hide your aura after breaking a breakable wall, reduce grunts of pain after breaking a breakable wall, leave no scratch marks after breaking a breakable wall, reduce the sounds of your footsteps after breaking a breakable wall.

    Thoughts?

Why would a survivor ever want to break a wall?

Well, with the 6.3 update, there will be quite a significant delay between clicks. Not enough to take away the attention.

So flashlights are only capable of grabbing a killers attention if they sound like a broken rotor?

Not exactly sure how that affects the Killer's binary decision. I promise you they'll still hear the clicks if you do them. They will also still make whatever choice they choose to make.

  • @Jasix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3210372#Comment_3210372

Some people are not enjoying playing survivor - please don't act like you speak for anyone but yourself. Any purposeful or inferred group consensus is the tactic of the desperate to attempt to validate their personal opinion. If the inability to macro click a flashlight because it can cause physical harm to another human being who has every right to play the same game as you - bothers you - that says A LOT about you.

    You must be new here.

  • @Predated said:

Right now, half the addons of the flashlight are either practically useless, bad or have too many better versions of them. A huge thing with the flashlight was to gain the attention of the killer for chase, and with that gone the addons can no longer be ignored.

Take the flashlight duration addons: You have the Battery, Heavy Duty Battery, Long Life Battery and Low Amp Filament. Low Amp Filament is by far the best for duration followed by Long Life Battery. If either of those run out, you still have Heavy Duty Battery before you would even touch Battery.

Then you have addons that are solely focussed on blindness duration: Power Bulb, 10%(adds about 0.2 seconds), Tir Optic, 15%(0.3 seconds), Intense Halogen, 20%(0.4 seconds), Odd Bulb, 25% AND shorter battery life(0.5 seconds, reduces a purple beamer duration from 12 to 10 seconds, note that a blind takes 1 second at the very least, meaning you gain 2 less blinds). Broken Bulb, 30%(0.6 seconds).

Sure, the broken bulb might be an event addon, but its by far the best of all of them. Making Odd Bulb and Power Bulb basically unused. Tir Optic sounds nice at first, but thats because I only focussed on blindness addons, because we also have Sapphire Lens and Focus Lens, both increasing Blindness duration by 15%. In addition of increasing the range of the flashlight

Then the final one that I havent mentioned yet: Wide Lens. The use of this lens is so niche. Its only really good against killer powers(Hag and Wraith mostly, Nurse only a little bit).

But what about the brightness that is mentioned in the addons? Purely visual. Does practically nothing during the average game. There are some niche instances where you might temporarily remove the vision on a specific area on the screen of the killer, but that is so extremely niche that it might not be mentioned.

Thats not even talking about the fact that all I have stated above, doesnt even matter if the killer uses Lightborn

    Flashlights need some loving.

(maps too, half of the map addons is to basically turn the green map into the rainbow map, hence me mentioning an addon pass in general, but mostly flashlights)

Don't understand your original premise. Survivors can still get the attention of killers in the middle of a chase using their flashlight.

  • @MrMori said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FV7B2EKCRMK4/image.png

Also, if the issue is that stealth was designed around the killer having low FOV (in 2016, before looping was even discovered, 6 years ago), how about giving survivors ever so slightly faster walk speed to compensate? Fair deal right?

Of course in reality it's solo queue that actually needs help and QoL changes right now, but it's a thought. Also what about changing Wraiths perks to be more interesting at the same time? Bloodhound and Predator aren't exactly great perks.

Love this meme but no compensation necessary. It's a QOL change for all except the people who truly believe that FOV reduction is the difference between them immersing or not.

And those people will adapt. Or they won't.

  • Admittedly, I hadn't seen the new flashlights until you posted this video.

I am now even more baffled by the claims that this was a nerf. Like people are clicking 4-5 times in the pickup animation to get that perfect angle or *insert made up nonsense here*.

Never saw a survivor worth their salt who didn't know how to position a flashlight correctly with a single click. Not once.

  • @Mattie_MayhemOG said:

This negative reaction to an accessibility change from survivors is weird considering how positive they all were about the Spine Chill buff that was also called an accessibility change. You all can't have it both ways.

You don't have to look very far to see why. Spine Chill never went clicky clicky. Some peeps are only pro-accessibility when it doesn't take away their harassment mini-game.

  • This is still hands down the worst designed achievement in the game, and the Devs should still be embarrassed that they allow it to persist.

  • @SuzuKR said:

Realistically, it will almost never ever change the result of a match from how things work on live. It will only be a time-saver at best most matches (which is still really nice).

If every single survivor goes down or gets hooked:

    • Live: Game is over unless either someone has a perk for picking themselves up OR can unhook themselves (4%x3 chances base = 11.5264% chance of self-unhook base). MAYBE one person can find hatch. Or the more likely result, they would get hooked or bleed to death.
    • PTB: Game is automatically over. Saves the time of having to go find, pick up, carry, and hook every slug.

In either situation, the game is over anyways realistically. Sure, this seems like a buff at first because no chance at self-pick up or unhook. But wait, there's more to go through. What are the actual difficulty requirements for the killer to achieve everyone being downed or hooked in the first place? Let's compare that, shall we?

    • Live: No inherent time limit. But you do have to prevent a standing teammate from managing to get to a slug and picking them back up. If someone has Unbreakable, that's a one-time use, so if you slap them back down, you won't have to worry about them doing that again.
    • PTB: You have a hard cap 45 second time limit that starts the second you down the first person. The first few seconds will be spent on the attack cooldown before you can do anything else. As long as they don't bleed out, they can get back up over and over. If anyone has Unbreakable, that becomes a repeatable 22.5s time limit. Also does not require someone to have to go to them to pick them up, so teammates can hide instead of picking them up, and all it takes is 1 person hiding successfully for 45 or 22.5s. If you hook someone, then just like on live, they get the same 4%x3 chances, or a teammate can unhook them to instantly bring them back to standing.

And we see now that the PTB version is actually tremendously more difficult to achieve every single person being downed or hooked simultaneously than on live. Now let's look at PTB's difficulty in scale to the number you need.

    • All 4 survivors downed or hooked simultaneously in 45s or 22.5s: The killer is cheating or multiple survivors majorly, massively misplayed.
    • 3/3 survivors downed or hooked simultaneously in 45s or 22.5s: The killer is cheating, or at least one survivor majorly misplayed.
    • 2/2 survivors downed or hooked in 45s or 22.5s: Something that can be done on live to end the game anyways except live patch survivors don't have a basekit way to pick themselves up if you take longer than that.
    • Final 1/1 survivor downed: They are dead regardless of live or PTB outside of being within 2s running distance of an open Exit Gate with an active DS ready (3s stun but takes ~1s to actually hop off the killer's back) on live patch. Something that will almost never ever happen regardless.

I genuinely believe you cannot help the people who choose to die on this hill.

I love the forum, for all the good debates AND the insufferable ones, but we know what kind of people look at this update and start seething. They are inconsolable.

or maybe keep the game casual for once other than screaming adapt just because you want to be able to bully block killers with your tournament swf squad.

The game is not casual. The difficulty of your match is defined by your opponents. This isn't Mario Party where everyone is frantically jamming the A button as fast as they can.

Also, now you're just saying things in bad faith. I solo queue, duo, and play killer.

    I'm also not screaming, hoss.

no because you never know what the survivors tactics are until you alredy in the trial... just stop using arguments that dont make any sense.

I feel like I'm being particularly patient here. If you tell me to stop using arguments that you don't agree with, I'm just going to ignore you in the future instead of try to help you.

There is a cost/value equation in all games, where you bring certain tools and you don't always get to use them. Some tools are better, some are worse. Some are entirely situational.

This is how meta's become defined. If the altruism bodyblocking that you're so concerned about truly takes off, it justifies adapting.

you alredy have to have at least to gen slowdown perks in order to have a chance... then i only can take the same ash 4 perks with me? i rather play not then, this is just a bad idea with ub basekit no matter how hard you try to deny it.

Gen slowdown perks are optional. Especially if survivors are swarming your hook attempts.

You also have 4 perk slots, you can pick and choose as you need to.

ah yes, sure. Only pros shall enjoy this game, casuals either deticate all their free time to get good at the game or get lost. <-- get your message. If bhvr thinks the same ive wasted alot of money on this game.

I think the biggest misconception around this game is that you get to choose how you want to play. It's a competitive game. You're not picking your opponents, so you're beholden to how they choose to play, not how you want to play. If you want to be casual there is KYF, or there is accepting that some squads are going to indeed style on you.

That was true even before these recent updates.

also what about 3 healthy survivors body blocking your first hook. Usually i drop the one im carrying and go on and hunt down the other 3 until i manage to get another one or at best slugg all of em if they keep remaining in the close area. 45 seconds will never be enough, i dont care how well you think you play, i know that i have my limits. And i want to be able to enjoy the game without being target for bully squads.

I suggest running an anti bodyblock perks. There are several that will immediately discourage that kind of altruism if it starts to become more common.

Like there is no reason to rescue slugged one, you don't NEED 3 survivors to save a survivor.

Literally just hide for 45 seconds and they will be back.

Yeah, that's a good point. But then they go on the hook uncontested and the killer is going right back to a gen. It seems pretty clear that BHVR still wants killers to be able to slug when they see an opportunity to convert some value from it, but not be able to slug simply because that's what they feel like doing. It is now situational, and that is fine.

Edit: Also, 1 person DCs and Surv's know they lost? They can help the killer end the game REAL fast and go next with this. Which is kind of cool.

its an issiue for soloQ. And it becomes an issiue because of that devs want to implement UB basekit. So i rather dont have both instead of having nurses early kill us in SoloQ and on the other hand have bully squads taking the advantage by denieying my first hook and not fear consequences. I cannot down 3 other people within 45 seconds. Thats way above my skill.

If it's above your skill then it's not for you.

If you don't realize that the scenario also applies when there are 3 or 2 survivors left, or if that's still above your skill, it's not for you.

  • I disagree. I think there isn't any issue whatsoever if a killer manages to pull it off.

Just running away from each other can net at least 45 seconds in basically any situation, I'm sure that will not happen except some random all solo q matches.

And again, that's an issue for the killers not seriously trying, only thing that can help them from that situation is self pick up perks only, anything else can be countered by bleeding out.

Coordinated rescues can and do go wrong, all the time.

Yeah, like if all four survivors literally stand still and stay in same place while being injured, any killers can do that.

No, there is video evidence of several killers earning this without survivors just standing there. Additionally, it doesn't have to be all 4 survivors. One can be on the hook and the other three fall apart. Two can be on a hook close together and the other two fall apart. I get that it's not extremely likely to happen, but it's not such an uncommon event and again, several killers can do it legitimately.
