Do any of you tunnel console players out the game when you need to shift the momentum in your favor? No judgement will be passed.

Ever since the reset on the 13th, I’ve noticed a blatant pattern of killers with Lethal Pursuit tending to go after me first, if I’m the only console player. Then they usually tunnel me out. Then there are killers who don’t run LP, but they will go after me if we are in a group- even though I’m farthest away (no, not running into a dead zone) and they initially were targeting someone else. I’m also noticing killers breaking chase with PC survivors, and returning to the area they last saw me in, or believe I may be currently in. I just recently starting to observe this behavior in the past week, and within the last 24 hours it’s been pretty flagrant. It has got to the point where I don’t even let my teammates heal me, so that I can either immediately hide or run away from the area- in fear the killer will return. And sure enough, more than ever- they’ve been returning and looking for me. Very frustrating.

Any survivor mains who happen to come up on this thread, please do not chastise any killers who can attest to this. By them coming forward, it at least gives us confirmation that it’s hunting season on console players, and that we need to adjust accordingly when we are the only console in the lobby. Then again, I could just be paranoid or on a really bad streak of no luck…

I can confirm three things for you:

    - I tunnel anytime I feel it will help me win, which is often

    - I have rarely had the luxury of identifying a player specifically by their platform and then choosing to tunnel that player because of their platform

    - Even if I did have that luxury, I do not believe console survivors are much different from PC survivors. I target the old and sickly antelopes, not their hardware.

They're not top tier or anything but the game isn't fun going against them. You also forgot about Twins, Pyramid Head, and Death slinger. It's just been nothing but anti loop killers and pretty much the only thing you can do against a killer is loop. If you get denied to play the game what's even the point?

You set the bar very low for what constitutes anti-loop, as every single example you provided is a loopable killer.

He literally hit them with the #########, bruh. There is no engaging a person like that without them flipping out.

Well, actually, there is. Irl where they wouldn't dare. Lol.

In no way, shape, or form, am I condoning the way he responded. But the the OP himself said he may have come across as mocking. So when the Billy responds the way he does, and gets nastiness back after, you know what he thinks, right?

"He definitely was mocking me with that first message."

    Hello everyone,

are pictures allowed again? I just wanna share this gem ^^

I had a trial on the groaning storehouse map as survivor and was facing off against a Billy in Milkman-Attire. The Billy player was really bad and only hit me once or twice during the whole trial, while getting constantly looped and juked, missing a lot of swings. I am somewhat decent at looping, but very inconsistant, but this time I kept it up all game.

Billy got a few hooks, but we saved all team mates, I even made a daring save in the end and evaded a chainsaw charge of him through the open exit gates. One more juke and I and everyone else made it out. No one BMed him, so I tried to console him a bit in the post-game chat. See for yourself.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UFNKAXVC8G22/20220217124025-1.jpg

There is toxicity on both sides, and while you might see my words as mocking, if you squint really hard, I guess that guy was just a salty and sour loser. I always appreciate some empathy and human touch from the survivors, if a group stomps me, but I guess we are all wired differently.

    Cheers everyone, and happy gaming.

I don't think you engaged him in good faith if you immediately respond to his bitterness with more bitterness. If you truly felt bad for him that wouldn't be the direction to go in when he responds in a way that demonstrates you were correct and he indeed had it rough.

I read somewhere in these forums that maps are selected from a small rotating pool, not from the entire collection. Hence is why you’ll see the same maps multiple times in a row.

Why would high MMR even put survivors at an innate advantage? That doesn’t make sense.

He's frustrated. I've experienced the oddity you described and when you're losing your mind due to the same nonsense over and over it's not hard to make his leap.

It's not irrational to be suspicious when you're given Badham 7x in a row (My personal record), but it's not a level-headed conclusion, either.

2 and 3 are generally not things you can improve on. Making bad plays is natural, even the best can make bad plays.

The issue is, however, that, as an above average player I'd like to believe I am, I am used to playing a bit riskier. Therefore, as my low MMR teammates suck and have genphobia, although I can hold a killer in a chase for 2 minutes (The game in the OP: I looped the shack for 2 minutes, before the hag somehow lost me), no gen goes by.

And then, when I get in end game, I unhook a second state survivor with BT, they take the hit, I then take another one, and when we reach the gate, as I realize that guy will be caught and they are dead on hook, I decide to go down for them, as the rest of my team is fully healthy and hasn't been hooked (except for that person I saved). But then, as my team prioritized the gate teabag, I die on hook, and, according to the MMR, the 5 hours Hag was better than me and I need to face a 4 hours killer with 2300 ping.

Items 2 and 3 are absolutely mitigatable. If you make a choice that runs contrary to your ability to escape and raise your MMR, then the system is doing what it was designed to do and lowers your MR for it. It's not perfect, but just like League and several other win/loss dependent only MMR games, you need to win despite your team, before you can start winning because of your team.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2813309#Comment_2813309

The only issue is that, by dying constantly to baby killers and getting face camped, my MMR keeps on dropping, I keep on facing worse and worse killers and worse and worse teammates, untill I fall so badly I start climbing up.

How do you lose against a baby killer, you may ask?

    1. NOED (yes, do bones, but when your teammates are just as baby it gets really hard).

    2. A stupid play from your side by underestimating the killer.

    3. You try to save someone in endgame and they leave you to die.

After that, it's usually either the no one saving you or face camping that gets me killed.

2 and 3 are your fault and indicative of poor play that can be improved upon.

Edit: The big thing to full comprehend here is if your MMR is going down so is the killers. Realistically, you should reach a point of no return where you can loop a killer indefinitely just because they lack the proper skill and resources to catch you. At that point you really shouldn't ever lose, and winning in that style should raise you to an MMR where other survivors have more developed skills as well.

And lastly, you can't fix potatoes, find friends and SWF. Knowing that this is a team game no-one should expect to perform as well when grouped with randoms.

I think there's an argument to be made that individual survivor skill and escapes don't have a strong correlation unless the matchmaking is tight, which it definitely isn't during peak hours. One weak link is all it takes to 4k.

Absolutely, except that this is never the argument being made. It's always the egregious exaggeration that someone ran the killer for 4 gens and still lost and it's the end of the world because that one game their MMR went down.

It's disingenuous and it hurts the people who are trying to engage with more reasoned arguments in good faith.

  • No, Sluzzy has way better indicators of satire.

He is right, this person's English is not their first language and their comment history reeks of being serious.

  • If you perform that well consistently you will escape more than you are sacrificed.

People refuseing to understand that one game makes not a statistically significant event are about as common as people who don't understand the emblem system is not your mmr.

  • @disgust said:

lol stretched did absolutely nothing for survivors in most cases.

even in that one image people always used for comparisons you could still very well see the killer by just angling your camera right. same think for most unsafe loops really.

what was really broken was stretched res nurse, so i'm glad it's gone

I know based on the few comments I've seen that you're just going out of your way to try and trigger as many people that you perceive to be killer mains as possible, but did you not stop to consider what population of this game plays Nurse vs how many play survivor? You TRULY believe Nurse stretched res is more prolific than survivor stretched res?

    You poor, poor boy.

  • Show me a player who complains about Nurse being too strong and I'll show you a player who has never tried playing nurse to her potential. I have seen so many great survivors intentionally do the dirtiest things to beat my nurse.

And now when I'm survivor up against nurse I use those same tactics and I make her life very difficult. One of the biggest differences between the s tier killers like nurse, spirit, blight, and maybe twins vs the rest of the cast is that when played to potential the survivors MUST evolve, generally by learning the killer inside and out. Orrrr come crying to the forums.

The only other killer outside of s tier that I've seen demonstrate the same level of nuanced counterplay is Deathslinger. RIP.

"If I pay hitmen to break the knees of the best opposing soccer players, it's just good strategy! We win every game and make way more money back than what we paid!"

    Or some past dbd examples

"If I body block the hook so no one can unhook, that's just good strategy... Wow they removed body blocking hooks! I wonder why??"

"If I place Charlotte at the top of the stairs on the farmhouse and control Victor right next to her, i can body block the basement for a full two minutes, easy 100% kills! Wow they removed that too, i wonder why? It was such a great way to win games"

Doing everything you can to win doesn't exclude you from being a bad person in competition. Being the worst player possible to secure little victories does make you toxic.

You're wrong. Mandy already posted on this thread drawing a CLEAR distinction between acceptable behavior and bodyblocking.

Contrary to attempts to brand tunneling negatively, you're not magically losing free agency. You have perks, teammates, and the very map at your disposal. Your second chase has the same exact potential as your first.

    Exactly this.

Tunneling/camping to try and redeem the match is fine, doing so at the start of the match or when there's no sign that you're losing isn't "strategy", you're just being a tool

There is nothing toxic about playing to win from the outset.

Hello everyone. I'm going to keep this post sweet and concise.

As many of us realize some maps are not scary (or horror enough) as a result of being too bright (think Coldwind Farm, Ormond, or Autohaven), I think I have a solid idea to remedy that.

    Simply put: Dynamic Sky Lighting.

Essentially, when playing on a map, the daytime condition will be randomized and can either be daytime, noon, evening, or night.

I believe this would make realms feel unique every time one is played and gives them a sense of extra randomization that has the ability to better immerse players within the game.

This would not be like the early stages of the DbD with Moonlight offerings, but would instead be dev controlled Sky lighting so the game is still fair for both sides, but more immersive.

Imagine Grave of Glenvale, Coldwind, or Red Forest with a Léry's or RPD reminiscent Sky lighting. Or, Imagine Léry's, Haddonfield, or Backwater Swamp during the daytime. Or imagine any map at dusk, right in between day and night.

And the list of possibilities goes on. I feel this is a change that shouldn't even be difficult to implement within the game as the devs would just need to allow all the realms and maps to be able to have randomized points of daytime to offer new lighting experiences and a way to greatly increase the depth and quality of life of this game.

Honestly, I'm surprised this isn't already implemented into the game.

    What do you all think?

(PS Before anyone says "oh this is not important, dEvS sHoUlD fIx ThE gAmE", the amount of time and effort put into all the cosmetics coming out can just as easily add this extra depth to the maps in this game).

The issue is lighting is a sensitive issue for killers. Ever try to track a yellow cosmetic character through coldwimd corn as nurse or hag?

I like your idea but the maps as they exist, and the killer tools needed to find more immersive survivors are lacking.

Been playing this game for a good long time now i have enjoyed it (kinda) for a while but recently i have really begun to hate this game to the core. I'll just start off by saying im a survivor main and FFS the killers EVERY MATCH use lethal pursuer then target me to death. No, im not exaggerating at all, every single match i play the killer runs directly to me without fail then chases me endlessly until i die. I'm literally convinced if i run distortion they would not chase a single other survivor until they found me. Also my "friends" never seem to run any sort of distraction or get in the killers way at all. They certainly never work on any gens to speak of. On the flip side if i try to run killer i get thrown into a match with a full organized iridescent team every match. How this game is run right now definitely doesnt make me wanna continue playing it and would NEVER recommend it to a friend. god i hope VHS kills this ######### game forever and soon.

When people make these ridiculous claims that end in 'Every game' they need to:

    1) Change their perk layout to address their gripe.

    2) Record video evidence so they're actually believable.

The only 'Every game' hyperbole I currently accept is Hex totems being obliterated instantaneously.

Evil incarnate. You can pick the 3 blink addon and ram your head over and over into a gen for a few games and eventually a survivor will catch on and give it to you.

Evil incarnate, you need all 4 survivors to actually be literal potatoes.

And people still wonder why killers don't want to play anymore.

No. People don't wonder. We know exactly why the population is falling off. But you asked what you should do in that situation, and the only correct courses of action are to challenge the existence of DS (Which you did), or to target the unhooker and hope they don't have enough body blocks + Dead hard to get them out of the gate. It's a reality stacked against you even if you play your absolute best under both paths.

  • @Alionis said:

I still don't want to play killer anymore, I've stopped a few months ago, but unfortunately, the tomes rarely have a path that allow you to progress through its levels purely playing survivor, so I played some killer games again, and got a taste of why I stopped in the first place.

I had a Dwight on the hook during endgame collapse. He got unhooked by the survivor I knew had borrowed time, so I countered by waiting 20 seconds to hit Dwight, the gate was far enough away for that. When BT ran out, he used DH in the gate, since I positioned myself ahead of him, he dead-harded away from the entity spikes, allowing me to down him and pick him up before he could reach the escape threshold. He then used DS and escaped.

What should I have done here? They told me afterwards that with the right counters, their perks are perfectly fine. What counters are there? This was the epitome of "#########, I screwed, but let's press this button to reverse my mistake, so the killer can't win".

He was unhooked unsafely --> Borrowed Time fixed that.

I waited out his Borrowed Time --> Dead Hard fixed that.

I screwed up his Dead Hard --> Decisive Strike fixed that.

I got 3 second chance perks shoved in my face back-to-back and some people still defend this bullshit as being fair? I did everything right here and I was still punished for it. This stuff leaves an extremely sour aftertaste. I don't feel outplayed or outmatched in skill when the survivor skill is basically: press a button to fix your mistakes.

It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. It happens in all walks of life. According to the meta, the Dwight earned that win. Right now that's just the way it is.

  • @SquidBad said:

The time DS gets it's greatest value is when the killer is not tunneling, but going for the only survivor left in the end game. As an example: gate is open, survivors unhook a guy. They each take hits, or they don't. If they take hits everyone gets out. If they don't take hits, the guy is downed, and can freely crawl out as the last survivor. If they have DS, the killer is stabbed for picking up the only remaining survivor in the trial.

Another example of where DS is not an anti tunnel perk, but is actually a forced 60 second game extension is something I can actually showcase.

    https://youtu.be/viIcNA5Cv7U

If I had left her on the ground to find hatch I would have not had this issue. Therefore DS is acting as an unnecessary game extension and it should deactivate if the survivor is the last in the trial.

We've got to pick and choose our battles. DS is not even a contender for top 10 issues right now.

I mean my mind is set, and I know others even some people I know in real life that think he’s unbalanced. I don’t know the numbers on wins vs losses against blight but that doesn’t matter I’ve played against the killer and have played as him to know that he’s broken.

I know the best people, and they tell me, Mileena, blight is the most unbalanced. He is so unbalanced, the most of any game, ever, really is what they say. And they tell me, Mileena, you should make your 9th topic about him before the last 8 leave the front page. Even though I win as much as I lose, there is just so much evidence that he's unbalanced. Evidence that I'll absolutely provide, as soon as he's nerfed.

This update to Boil Over makes no sense. It promotes unhealthy gameplay on both sides. I cannot understand why this was implemented.

He did try to pick you up, and the obnoxious bump RNG that the perk provides got him caught against several otherwise flat surfaces, and he couldn't find hooks thanks to the fact that Boil Over now is a 3+1 suite of anti-hooking nonsense. He played around your perk, you can call it petty, but I don't see any TOS violations here.

What i mean by that is bascially misdirection and confusing the killer ive seen a few online but some of them are old so i dont know if they still work i just want to mess with the killer as much as possible IE red herring

I like Distortion, Quick and Quiet, Alert, and Iron Will: The play is to force the Killer to kick a safe pallet in a tall tileset and then make a vault and use the aura reading to completely disappear from his LOS.

That should work. I have the 789 version and it looks mostly the same. You'll want to mess with the gain setting until you get to a level where you hear the subtle stuff but also don't blow your ear drums out.

I ended up getting your version because it has several hundred more reviews. I used my Amazon points and it costed me nothing for both that and the headphone because I'm a consumer ######### :)

I may pester you in a few days if the setup intimidates me, good sir.

"How can you claim to be an experienced Nurse if you refuse to play her when conditions are unfavorable?"

Because the two unfavorable maps for Nurse are cancerous as hell. I don't play those maps on any killer, this isn't a Nurse exclusive. RPD is an instant DC no matter who I'm playing, and I only play Lery's as survivor because it lags me out.

There's a difference between avoiding unfavorable maps and avoiding maps that completely ruin the fun of the game(RPD) or maps that make Nurse, and every other killer, completely unplayable because yay console(Lery's). I'm fine with unfavorable maps, and I actually like them. For example, Hawkins was my favorite map as Nurse ever since it came out because it gave a challenge. That brings me to my next point.

What you're describing is not guessing, or at least not my definition of it. I call that a *mindgame*, which is something that I like to do. Those are the reason I play Nurse. However, that differs from guessing. Guessing is essentially giving up everything to chance, and I don't like to do that. Getting into your opponent's head to see what they're going to do and calculate the likelihood of them doing something isn't guessing, because you're not really leaving the hit up to luck. Sure, there's SOME luck, if they happen to do the thing that's least likely you probably won't get the hit. But that's called being outplayed, which is what makes games fun. Mindgames show skill. Guessing shows luck. If a Nurse is guessing, she both will not win the game, even if she outskills the survivors, and won't actually get better as a Nurse player either. This brings me to Hawkins.

On Hawkins, survivors have almost limitless options against a Nurse. There are at least 10 things a survivor could do AT EVERY BLINK. And because you can't see them, you have to calculate the likelihood of each thing, and go for the most likely. That's incredibly difficult to do though, because you have to both know the map layout and have read how the survivor plays. Then you have to keep that in your head and memorize three others as well. Because survivors have so many options, it becomes a game of skill rather than luck, or "I see you, you can't do #########, I Blink and you die".

RPD on the other hand comes completely down to luck because of inconsistent hitboxes, autolock, and Blink deadzones. And to top it all off, you're guessing in most areas because there's no way to tell the likelihood of anything on that map. It comes down to luck. And I can not stress it enough that I do not like luck.

Guessing is luck, and luck is not skill. Mindgames are mental calculations that have a factor of luck, which is skill, and also very fun.

Mindgames are guessing with a predictive or unpredictive coefficient. You're splitting hairs. Most people here when they say guessing don't actually mean they're throwing piss into the wind, and others before me have said the same on this thread.

DC'ing still makes you a punk.
