  • While there really isn't a good reason to DC aside from being stuck I suppose, "my teammate was in the basement" has to be the bottom of the bucket. It was likely she didn't want to give you the mori and made up something about her teammate to side track from what she did.

  • When there's more than one DC or a DC when everyone loaded in, I'll often go easier on the survivors. Leave them on the group if they're on their last hook, etc. Depends on my mood and how long they're taking, though. If there's one afking in the corner with crows, I'm taking them out of the game.

  • There should be more of a downside to do it alone as genrushing typically comes from everyone being on different generators. If you apply pressure to a generator and there was three people there, that's three people off a gen and not doing anything. I'm not sure what to do to make it an improved experience, but I'd honestly be up for changing how gens are done so that they're more complex and it's more beneficial to not to do it alone for instance.

So you want to punish the killer for not being stupid?? Or do you change gens each 33% so you won't "tunnel" it?

You can't tunnel gens. It's more compared to looping I don't believe you can pip if you waste the killer's time the entire game. If you can, you shouldn't.

@Master You can't "tunnel" gens. That sentiment is ridiculous. That's like saying you're tunneling hooks by using a certain one. That is the equivalent. You're thinking of looping as both include another party and not an object in the game.

Of course you can tunnel gens.

You could not-tunnel gens and stop repairing at 66% and switch to a new gen, thats basically teh same you want from a killer when you ask for non-tunnel gameplay.

Tunneling is what happens in a chase. You can't chase an motionless object. No, the same would be not going to the strong loops and not wasting so much time. There isn't really any infinites anymore, but I do believe some of the loops are still pretty strong. Repeatedly going there would be the same as tunneling as both involves another party and both are indicative of the other.

Tunneling doesnt happen during a chase, it happens before the chase when the killer chooses his target.

tunneling is the killer choosing the target that has been hooked already instead of a fresh survivor.

same applies for gens. When reaching 66% (2nd hook state) you could run to a new gen (chase another survivor) or you could complete the gen you already repaired (chase the alreadey hooked survivor)

The same applies to where you go to loop. It makes no sense to compare it to generators. That's like saying don't go to the hook right next to you to give survivors a chance to wiggle off. You're gonna go to the nearest hook as survivors are going to go to the gens that are closest to done as that's closer to their goal being done. Likewise, you may not kick and stick around a gen with little to no progress, but you probably are going to give a good look around if the gen is almost done. You hurt your argument when you compare it to something that it doesn't make sense to compare it to. It's completely valid to be upset by looping and to compare camping and tunneling to looping strong spots. That's why it happens half of the time, after all.

Eh yeah well whatever, I give up.

Nothing much you can do about that [BAD WORD] up logic, huh? Hahahaha

The only messed up logic I see is his, but okay. I'm making sense, not my fault you guys aren't.

With the buff to Prove Thyself and the nerf to BBQ, expect more camping. Often when the killer doesn't have momentum (3 gens go off and they finally down someone), they resort to camping either for momentum or to insure a kill. If you're chased that long, your goal is to lose the killer, not to continue looping him. Cut eyesight, pretend to go one way, then go the other. If you're being chased that long, they're bound to camp you.

What rank are you btw? That could also be an issue. If someone is mismatched, they may decide to punish that. If you've really been playing since the beginning, you shouldn't be bullying newer players. Though I'm doubting that because of this post:

Yeah, next 3 games, got camped again. It might be cause bbq has a counter now. They need to add more time on the hook or a perk to counter camping. Also the quality of survivors at rank 1 is just laughable. The ranking system is terrible. So many problems with this game I am so tempted to give up.

You mean Borrow Time? It's a Bill teachable. They've also tweaked it so that when you're farmed off the hook, the killer can't hit you before you can move.

What rank am I ? It's in the text you quoted. Also ppl don't use BT anymore since it got nerfed like 3 times. They wont use it since it doesn't protect the unhooker.

So you fought a bad nurse at rank 1...? Just because you mention rank 1 and complain about how much it sucks up there, doesn't mean you were playing in that rank and being camped. I've found killers at the higher ranks to be better at playing the game and not needing to resort to tunneling and camping as they recognize when to give up on a chase and come back. BT shouldn't affect the unhooker. It's borrowed time for the camped, not a free save. The recent nerf was actually a buff, I do believe, as you can mend yourself even if you don't have SC and it doesn't go down if you're being chased. The biggest issue with it was that it was bugged and didn't work if the person unhooking was downed.

I didn't complain about how much it sucks, I complained that I got camped while having no bm and using No Mither. I mean to camp someone with No Mither... it seems so weird, at rank 1 and with a nurse as well. Felt ouf of place. Regarding BT, yes it was buffed recently. People still don't use it, because it's only effective in well coordinated SWF groups. In solo play if you use it, you just end up on the hook yourself, so they just prefer to do gens and let the guy die. Well, that is best case scenario. Most of the times they stay crouched behind a nearby tree, waiting for the guy to die, hoping the killer will [BAD WORD] move eventually.

In the post I mentioned, you complained about the quality of rank 1 survivors. It's important to recognize why you were camped, though. You looped them for three gens. By that point, you should be looking to shake off the killer. If you're having troubles 'cause you're the first one found, I would suggest either bringing a perk to help avoid the killer or to wait a bit before you get onto a gen. SB is another crutch perk, too, and puts the chases in your favor as long as you can avoid the killer getting close enough to hit you. People do use BT from time to time in solo matches. If you get the unhook while the killer isn't paying attention or while the killer is away from the hook, it won't be as much of an exchange. I know what you mean, though. I wish people would punish the camping rather than feed into it and waste time.

Darling, you can't loop nurse. And I couldn't lose her either. Trust me I tried. It's very scary to have a nurse for so long on your ass, while using No Mither.

Yeah, nurse works a bit different, but you ran her around for so long. That's my point. You wasted a lot of time and she had next to no pressure due to you being able to run her so long. If she got that high with low skill, she probably had NOED, too, and relies on it regularly. Breaking LOS is even more important for nurse. Buildings are you friends since she needs to guess where you went.

If I'm playing trapper, I'll just make a minefield of traps around the hatch and watch. If the survivor approaches, I'll just walk toward them slowly to build tension :D

I did this twice and one time it was perfect. I managed to use all my damn traps around the Hatch and honestly was surprised I managed to travel the whole map getting the traps and they didn't leave. I found out the Feng was watching me from the building above the Hatch, not sure for how long, when she finally did run towards the Hatch she STILL managed to step in a trap XD it was beautiful, I was surprised I won.

I did the same once in The Game. this Meg stepped on a trap, I grabbed her, dropped her ubtil she could escape but she freaked out and stepped onto another trap... I was like “seriously? I’m letting you go!” Haha

Yeah, some newbies don't get what you're doing when you let them go or give them hatch. It's kinda cute in like an innocent way.

  • I think what they're asking is if it still pops up if you miss it during the 30, 35, and 40 mark and if you can get them out of order or if that would give it a hard lock and you would be missing out on those teachables. I believe you can still get it and it'll randomly appear in the web, opposing a normal perk. I usually get the teachables when I see them, though, so I don't know for sure.

  • Hello today, good troll. How is it under your bridge? :P

  • OhTofu has some good tips. I believe he made a series to help out newer survivors in learning what to do in the game. I think Puppers and Hybridpanda have also given some tips on how to play loops and so on, but I can't remember. Watching what other people play is also pretty helpful.

  • My guess is that survivors teabag to keep you on them 'cause they're in a rhythm and know what they're doing, while there's weaker people on the team. I've literally left someone who was teabagging only to down and kill them later. As survivor, I don't teabag at pallets or anything like that. I'm generally the least toxic person you'll come across. So, I don't quite get when people are.

  • If I'm given something challenging and fun, idc what kind of killer I face. c: Spooky and tense games are the best, though!

How do you "fix" a perk which is working as the devs intended it to work? It's more like you are asking for a straight buff.
I personally don't know what is worse, lockers or gens blocking aura. But I think one of them has to go, especially with the perk of Jeff. That's just my opinion.

Honestly I don't know why they made lockers hide auras. It isn't needed.

Yeah, they're common refrains killers hear. Today was actually better than most, and out of around 20 games, I was only cursed at three times. That's pretty good for me. It's usually at least half if I don't dodge SWF.

That's good. I'm doing well! Just got into a new game (Niche, it's addictive) and was spending the weekend with a friend. <3 Was showing her how to play the game since it was a free weekend and I wanted to see if she could play it on her lappy. How about you?

Oh, you know, I hung a few people on meat hooks, dismembered a few others, the usual things. It is a very addictive game, and it can also be extremely frustrating. When it gets to that point, I just pull out my "shy Mikey" build and run away from survivors instead of chasing them. Or, get some friends with party starters to throw a random killer an exciting welcome in the washroom of The Game.

How did your friend do on the laptop?

As for deranking, some of it is just players being jerks. You'll see it when they join a lobby with no offerings or add-on's, and then DC as soon as the game loads. They're just de-pip'ing themselves by losing over and over again quickly. Others, who go beyond de-piping, use software to manipulate their steam account. I don't know how that interacts with Behavior, but we have a discussion going on about it here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/284634

I did an experiment by creating a brand new account, starting at level 1 and rank 20. Out of 4 games, three had players who I had a hard time explaining how they got so many great perks without ever getting up to rank 15.

In any case, when you are playing killer, just remember to follow the rules above, and you'll have a great game!

I couldn't agree more hehe. It's very addictive and can be extremely frustrating. I know I took a break a while back 'cause it was frustrating me, but I feel it's a game I always come back to. OMG, a shy Mikey build? lol That sounds adorable. How do you do it? Yeah, I like to change it up and play around, too. x3 Might as well~

She was having troubles looking around and doing skill checks, but I was able to do it just fine when I hopped on for her, so I think it was a newbie-related problem and not her computer. It was kinda laggy starting up, but it wasn't really laggy in-game. She seems on the fence about the game, though we had fun playing together. c:

Yeah, it ruins the game when they all DC like that. :/ I've seen suggestion for wait time that increases with each DC from elsewhere and I think that may be a good idea. I'd say using the software is just as bad. If you have so many hours in the game, but you're main is somehow rank 20 with all the good perks or even rank 15, I say. I think there should be more of a reward for staying in the higher ranks. I saw someone suggest that. Hopefully they find a way to detect that software.

    LOL XD

Someone being salty made you salty, I take it?

Awww! No! I thought of it more as a humorous commentary on the stigmas that surround killers among a certain population of the game.

I take my share of salt, don't get me wrong, but I'm beyond being insulted by it. The only thing that really bothers me is seeing rank 18 players with 4 tier 3 teachable perks... obviously, deranking themselves, even beyond normal methods of losing matches, in order to face brand new killers, for easy matches or to bully.

Outside of that, I'm not salty. How are you?

It rains salt, sometimes. Haha. But, yeah. I get you. I've seen people who had "Legion = DC" as their name and I'm aware some people are quite particular and fussy. I know what you mean, but I'm sure there's some people in the higher/newbie ranks who are up there 'cause they're still not very good. As killer, I generally have 3/4 tier 3 perks and quite a few teachables, though I generally lean towards survivor while playing and sometimes just dumps points into my killers to get their points. I'm aware that some people cheat to bully newbies, though, and I hope they fix it so that they can detect the software.

That's good. I'm doing well! Just got into a new game (Niche, it's addictive) and was spending the weekend with a friend. <3 Was showing her how to play the game since it was a free weekend and I wanted to see if she could play it on her lappy. How about you?

  • Someone being salty made you salty, I take it?

  • I haven't gotten something so extreme, but I've had matches where I played solo and I was either the highest rank or the lowest rank. Like a rank 10 with a bunch of 13 and 14. I'm on PC.

That'd probably be pretty bad if the killer got a three gen strat going on. There's supposed to be hope for the survivors, lore-wise. If there isn't a chance to escape 'cause the killer can take a chunk off the generator, it would create a situation where winning could be unlikely.

An additional objective could be quite a lot of fun, though, and liven up the gameplay. I'm up for different game modes, too! That would be cool. :)

It's survivor's fault to let the 3 gen strat happen.

Yeah, I know, but it'd be even easier to do if killers take off a chunk every time they kick the gens. What's to keep them from chilling by three gens that are close enough together?

An additional objective could be quite a lot of fun, though, and liven up the gameplay. I'm up for different game modes, too! That would be cool. :)

  • Not all SWF are bad, toxic or really good. They may be playing with their three "boyfriends," but the point of the killer side is that you don't have to deal with a team. Even while playing with friends, you may be sandbagged or have the killer dropped off with you at a dead zone. There's often bad plays while playing with friends as you're sometimes distracted and chitchatting. I will say playing against or with toxic SWF is really annoying, though.

People playing with lower rank friends to face "easier" killers is an issue for me. I don't think it should a median, but the highest number present being what decides the rank.

  • If I remember right, don't you lose all earned blood points if the killer DCs at any point in the match? Seems like it's punishing the victims of the situation. They should probably fix that. Also adding more of a punishment (like a wait between DCs) would also help to discourage DCs.

I honestly don't think cherry picking would be as much of an issue as some thinks. There may be some that dodges for all the good killers, but it could also help with not facing someone who heckles and trolls you or cheats/DCs. If someone dodges for easier matches, they're just not gonna get as many matches. I don't think it'd affect people who are reasonable.

I would say maybe having it a mix of gens and safely unhooking people, but I still kinda like my slower entrance idea as it would mean the survivor would need to sneak into it rather than just jump in freely. It SHOULD be harder to get a hatch escape than a door one as the situation is so much more dire.

It's already harder for them to get in because they can easily get grabbed if the killer is close and sliding might be too difficult to code since it's not in the game now due to the limitations.

Well, currently it's a staring match to see who blinks first, basically. Or who flinches first. Survivors can just wait to be hit and killers can just wait for the survivor to jump. So, it's basically who's willing to wait the longest. It may have issues with the games code, though. I dunno. Just brainstorming a possible idea that'll stop the stalemate as it's really boring.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They need to do something about the end game. It feels a bit too unrewarding and brain dead. Often the worst player (who's camping the hatch) gets it. I mean, I understand the hatch is present due to instilling hope into the survivors, but I'm sure counter play could be added in or it could just be completely changed. Like they are required to slowly go down the hatch instead of just hopping in. I dunno how to fix it, honestly. Just some ideas.

Well for someone that does nothing all game it shouldn't allow an escape, you've had to have either done at least 1 gen, unhooked someone SAFELY, healed someone 1 health state or done a combo of totems etc.

I would say maybe having it a mix of gens and safely unhooking people, but I still kinda like my slower entrance idea as it would mean the survivor would need to sneak into it rather than just jump in freely. • You mean the person without perks and add-ons got stomped? I would have never guessed. It's a challenge for a reason, I do believe. He generally does relatively decently in his games imo, though some of the plays in this one was a bit questionable. Feels a bit like bait to say "proof the game is unbalanced" for something like this.

  • BW is really good, though, and part of the reason is because people wait around. I know I'll wait to make sure everyone (that can) gets out. I don't usually wait teabagging in the door, though. I'm not one to teabag for one. I walk into the environment and try to make my way over to someone if they're hooked to get them off.

I'll say NOED usually works 'cause people don't wanna get totems or they get all but one and can't find the last.

Bring Whispers and you'll know what area they're in if you're having issues like that. I don't believe that's actually holding the game hostage as you can in theory find them and end the game by killing them.

You cant counter every broken game mechanic by using a perk. We dont have enough slots for that

You aren't entitled to your 4k stop whining about it, you want that 4k EARN IT!

You want an earned 4k? Ok how about getting 3k at 2 gens done, and losing the 4k purely because the survivor went afk essentially, and I didn't want to have to spend 3 hours on a hatch standoff? I knew the location of the hatch, the survivor didn't, but I couldn't find them, I was using a lvl 1 nurse, what could I have done to "earn" that 4k? Waste more time?

I've had something similar happen on nurse. They stayed after the gates were opened to look for hatch and took forever. As I said elsewhere, Whisper helps locate survivors. If you find that happening often, maybe consider taking along the perk. Otherwise, I'm sure there's ways to find and locate survivors and I'm sure there's common places survivors may stick to. Some may go into lockers and others will just crouch around everywhere.

again though, level 1 nurse. literally only had nurse's. I'm salty every time it happens. Like I did good enough to kill everyone, find hatch, but because I don't want to waste time, I don't get the 4k after an amazing game. ya know

Eh, I agree to some degree. The end game is often not fun for killer, though if someone finds themselves having issues with finding survivors often, whispers helps. I believe it's one of the most common perks to bring as is. It's good to signify if someone's nearby and to waste less time.

@powerbats I think it also makes you dodge if you or the killer blocked the other. I'm not entirely sure on that, though.

No, that will not work. If it did you would just be able to block any good players and abuse the system to get easy matches.

Wouldn't it just mean that you wouldn't get matches if you block all the good players? "Easy" matches within the proper rank is far less detrimental than people DCing or smurfing for easy matches, anyway.

  • An idea of how it could be buff is that you get an increase for every survivor killed. That way you're not seeing speed increase at the very end where it likely no longer matters.

  • @powerbats I think it also makes you dodge if you or the killer blocked the other. I'm not entirely sure on that, though.

I have 700+ hours on survivor and only dabble on killer.

Something more should be done to punish people deranking and smurfing to pick on newbies, I agree. Like a 10/20/40 minute wait if they dc, etc.

You can't keep whipping the volunteers while demanding they endure broken mechanics like SWF dear. As fun as it probably seems there is no mechanic to force them to play. They just leave. They aren't going to play tedious games because you insist.

Um?? Am I incorrect to think that it's mostly survivors that DC???

Well I assumed the derank remark was meant for a killer doing so to new survivors but I suppose it could be 4 survivors doing it to a killer. It's easier logistically for a killer to do it I think as they only need 1 person to coordinate the effort where the SWF requires multiple.

Well, it's more of the act of DCing, bringing veteran survivors down to the ranks of newbies, where they proceed to troll and teabag them, ending the match with "you suck" etc. I have an issue with it because it's against the rules, but also because it isn't making a good experience for the new players who just got into killer and I think may encourage camping and negative behavior. I'm not sure if it would fix the toxicity, but it certainly wouldn't hurt it to have DCing actually have some sort of immediate impact. I've seen others suggest a "time-out" of sorts that grows longer the more people DC.

While playing solo (as I often do), it's daunting when someone DCs at the start or even in the middle. And if you happened to be in a poor position the moment they DC, they'll just go after you next. I've taken hits for people who DCed and went down because of it. It creates a massive unbalance for the surviving members for someone's selfishness especially if done while already behind in the match. I honestly haven't been in the newbie ranks for survivor in forever and I don't remember any experiences where the killer was doing anything to bully the newbies.

How were you avoiding the smurfs/de-rankers? They're all over. I literally had a game where someone was named "smurf"

you can't derank past 15, so 20-15 is legitimately 100% new players (or fresh smurfs?)

Or people playing with their new "friends"

I started with Claudette because I liked her backstory and P 3'd her since she was my 1st character and didn't realize she was considered toxic. But I had killers that easily found me and they agreed the whole toxic thing was stupid.

They also said they had no issues for the most part like me in finding P3 Claudettes since they always knew where to look. Most of these killers also played Claudette and thus knew how she played and the same for other characters.

I actually started as Claudette when I was a newbie 'cause she was one of the suggested characters to start as and she had self-care. Shortly after that, I moved to Nea, then Meg, and have settled on Kate since she came out. I go between playing Meg and Kate, though. I need to get all the perks on Nea and Claudette still.

  • I do cleanse totems when I see them, but you don't control what another person does and unless I go running around at the final gen to make sure all the totems were taken care of, I have no reason to go around already finished gens to make sure no one left any behind.

NOED really isn't that big of a deal. It does carry killers who aren't all that great, but I honestly think it's more like Adrenaline than DS as Adrenaline is useful sometimes as NOED is only useful if survivors get hit at the end and didn't touch the totem.

Small Game isn't typically used as it's not super helpful and there's better perks to use. If it had a little bit of a buff as you suggested, it may see more use. Honestly I don't think there should be a recharge time. It should just stay lit up if you're nearby something the way Spine Chill stays lit up if the killer is looking at you within a certain distance. Having actions quieted for anything related to the perk would be cool, though, be it for traps or for totems.

  • @Mochan They've already nerfed and fixed looping, they just need to give some tweaks to it. If anyone truly wants to nerf looping into the ground so that survivors could no longer run the killers for any amount of time, they're just being greedy. I agree with gen rushing to some extent. I think there should be more tiers to the objective so that you're not just sitting on a gen, holding m1 and occasionally hitting skill checks. NOED becoming part of the base kit will never happen. That's like saying DS should be part of the base kit. They're both really crutch and can give a bad player a win.

The skill check idea sounds interesting, but I still dunno about the idea overall. I know it can be rather hard when attempting to find a character while downed and I can only imagine it'd be worse if they weren't whining and crying. Though if they incorporate stealth skill checks, it may be cool to add it to things like lockers, etc. Where you'd be holding your breath and if you fail it you whine or start to panic and make a lot of noise.

If the crawl isn't as low as dying state, it might be fine.

Oh, I thought the changes to the lighting and the colors makes the game a tiny bit prettier. I don't really find it all that much of an issue, though I'm also not a stealth player. If my character can be seen, you see my character lol

  • What @Orion said sounds likely, though they could also get bored.
    Does anyone think that's possible?

  • No, don't nerf looping. They've already nerfed pallets enough, they should be focusing on giving a buff to mind games now, etc. Survivors aren't as OP as some seems to think. It's about knowing the map for both, playing with mind games, and avoiding strong loops if someone takes you to one. Chasing correctly (by taking tight turns) and keeping better track of where the survivors are/went is also helpful.

If survivors could crawl along the ground like they do while they're done, it'd be nearly impossible to find someone hiding in a game that is so time sensitive. I like the new lighting, too, though they need to fix downstairs areas as they get way too dark.
