  • Ehh it's not really about skill anymore. It's really just about does the survivor whose tunnel out have anti tunnel perks or does the rest of the team have perks to help with tunneling or not.

  • Once we nerf nurse, blight, ghoul, and Jason we can get some nerfs for survivors. Until then it's just a bad idea.

Where, scrub? Thats not an insult unless you think it is. Dont.

Please dont answer if you dont wanna engage with my actual arguments.

I'd recommend not saying anything if you don't know the meaning of the words you write. It only makes you look foolish.

Sigh good lird you make me remember the nurse crusades.

You didnt even aknowledge my arguments.

    "Tunneling is bad"

Its only bad because your scrub brain imagines an rule that doesnt exists and expect zhe game and opponent to contort to it. You label this act which breaks your imaginary rule with a certain word and start using it in deterogatory ways in hope to shame your opponent to contort to it.

Survivors are not owed any amount of time in a trial just as you will say killers dont deserve any amount of kills theyve chosen themselves.

TLDR your argument is even worse.

Ah yes, insults that's sure to make for a compelling argument.

Yeah, lights out would be so great if we got rid of legion and doctor.

    Ugghhhhhh.

    Wow you got me.

Deliberately choosing to target the same person to chase, down and hook twice in a row is exactly the same as an item that can skip 1/7th of survivor objectives per instance brought in an instant.

Surely you'd be better off comparing ye olde BNP to ye olde mori which doesnt exist anymore. Huh i guess killer OP stuff does get nerfed.

Please dont talk about discussing in good faith if youre really thinking that "choosing a target twice" is the same as an ye olde BNP or mori.

While on topic, can we talk about survs not swapping gens every 30s to spread the pressure on all 7 gens. The killer doesnt get to play/kill enough when survs exit too quickly.

I mean if we can demand killers to go easy on survs because they decided they werent in the trial long enough, we surely can also demand survivors to slow down so the killer can get the amount of kill they want, else we'd be hypocrites, right?

Nah, sorry but this is why your argument is bad. Something being a 'normal strategy' does not make something good for the game. Being able to kill someone because you can easily tunnel someone out is bad for the game.

  • I could point out the fact that survivors had so many perks gutted that you are now complaining about champion of light.

Which iteration of BNP's do you refer to?

    1. The original instant-finish a gen?

    2. The first reworked, constant skillcheck one that gave 10% progression per great?

    3. The second rework that gave you two difficult skillchecks, which resulted in a 20% progression bonus?

Original gen just pops, it was patched out for good reason because it was too strong and anyone can see that tunneling is extremely unbalanced. It should go the same way, but I wanted to see if you are intellectually consistent and would be fine with old brand new parts.

  • Yikes, my man maybe if we gut half the killer roster these would be fine but you can't cripple survivors while killers like blight, ghoul, nurse, and Jason exist in the game.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

    Stop vilyfing a normal strategy.

    tunneling solved.

Question, would you be alright with the devs bringing back old brand new parts? It'd then become a normal strategy to use them and thus in your eyes be totally fine right?

You don't even need to necessarily punish it. You could start by removing the notification alerting killers "HEY, HERE'S WHERE TWO SURVIVORS ARE AND ONE IS INJURED." There's also no reason killers should be able to see the aura of a hooked survivor. Removing both those would even add a level of skill and game awareness that would allow more skill expression.

But a more extreme version would be to simply move the survivor away when hooked like 2v8 does. Remove opportunity, and you can also then remove most, if not all of the anti-tunnel protections that killers hate so much. Slap on a mandatory 45 seconds in the fog before respawning with something like Pinhead box logic (ie attempted distance from all players) to prevent instant unhooks and tunnelling becomes basically unfeasable, with even the opportunity to provide some pretty significant post-hook buffs to get the killer moving around the map again. Obviously, some special carveouts would be wanted for stuff like endgame, basement, or territorial killers, or rework all those things entirely because absolutely nobody likes them and their current implementations don't promote fun or engaging gameplay, but it'd easily solve camping/tunnelling without any disincentives or punishments necessary.

That'd also encourage more camping. Don't get me wrong I think it's a great start but I think your idea of the 2v8 teleport works better if the survivor can choose to teleport instead of getting forced by the killer.

  • Pretty sure we can look up multiple threads and find killers talking about how they will tunnel no matter what happens since it's not their job to care about the enjoyment of others. The only way to solve tunneling is actively punishing it. A good start would be giving unhooked survivors 15 seconds of elusive and the new invincibility effect (with the bugs of some killers m2 bypassing it fixed) instead of deep wounds.

  • @random1543 said:

What's wrong with Oni? I would love to see more Oni.

They removed a lot of the skill to play him so it's annoying to play against him when he can prettymuch 360 you.

  • Most of the anti tunnel features should have been implemented in a slightly weaker state and the fact that so many killers had an issue with it showed how most killers are artificially boosting their mmr by tunneling.

  • It's a dead perk rn, like if I'm going to be equipping something like it I'm just gonna use decisive since that'll be more useful. It's only value comes from being in a swf and getting a potential save but if I'm in a swf I'm just gonna put on background player and tell them to get downed under a pallet. I think removing the one time use would be fine considering it requires 90 seconds to charge. I'd either make it be available instantly or remove the limit.

  • If you are going to make a character concept I'd recommend at least making 3 perks. No one really cares all that much otherwise since for survivors that's the only thing that is interesting.

Didn't OnePumpWillie do a 200+ winstreak with Trapper of all Killer? Does that mean Trapper needs a nerf? Of course not.

Winstreaks in DBD would be more indicative of a Killer's strength if there weren't strategies that almost remove skill expression on any Killers (tunnelling, camping, slugging for 4k etc). The only difference the Killer's strength does is change how much does the Killer have to rely on those strategies to regularly win against skilled players/a decent SWF.

I'm not saying Jason couldn't use a few tweaks, but he's not broken and nerfing him into the Shadow Realm isn't the way to go.

… Trapper does need a nerf in certain aspects of his kit and buffs in others, it's impossible to lose on him with the right build and at worst you get a two kill. Also you are kinda proving my point by not even trying to disprove my comment about how the only counterplay to Jason is being psychic.

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4096633#Comment_4096633

The counterplay to Jason is understanding map spawns and cutting sharp corners in chase.

Legitimately when he's in omnipresent evil, look around you and figure out where he could potentially appear then using that knowledge, plan where you will go if he appears there.

I'll give you an example, let's say you're doing the generator in the top floor of the Garden of Joy building. There are only 2 places he can really appear there - the window, which would be your main escape route otherwise or the nearby breakable wall. Realistically, 9/10 times A Jason will pick the window to force you into a worse position.

So, what do you do? Stay on the gen for a bit then if you think he's coming for your gen - prerun away from the window or alternatively walk away from it then start crouch walking away once you've cut line of sight. You either get a headstart on him appearing at the window or you stealth out the jumpscare and force him to search for you. Either way, you waste his time

So… again you aren't really getting what I'm saying. The reason why people don't like him is because there's no counterplay. Seriously even in your example the only thing you came up with was be psychic and magically know he's coming for your generator specifically because there's no tells on if he's coming for you. Like, I'm open to hearing counterplay but being psychic is not a viable strategy.

  • @ba_tetsuo said:

Hens winstreak is a result of three factors:

1.) Survivors refuse to learn the counter play for Jason in general. Every other thread is a variation on "OE is busted nerf it!"
2.) Its a strong hex build that you can't really dismantle without coordinated effort. I'm not talking perks. I mean the second Jason shows himself and starts a chase, all 3 survivors need to be on a hex.
3.) This is, arguably, the biggest factor. Hens has so many hours in this game that he should absoultely be wrecking most average players. Its the spiders george issue, but in real life.

    1. There is no counterplay that's kinda why people don't like him. Crouching around doing nothing to progress the gamestate is not real counterplay.
    2. Requiring everyone to be in a swf to have a chance really shows how stupidly broken Jason is.
    3. Statistically speaking it's improbable for anyone to be consistently winning for this long, if Jason is not broken as ######### then the streak should have ended a long time ago.
  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

Now do it again with casual players, I never want to see this game balanced around the comp scene personally.

I want to see the stats there, also it's not really "lawless" if we are banning killers and preventing repeat killers, is it. Not to mention map rng and the like can vastly impact a match for survivor, it's very different if it is predetermined.

It's somewhat useless data as it doesn't apply to you average DBD match at all, most of the playerbase is way more casual.

Hey now, it's not somewhat useless, it's entirely useless.

  • Alright see you in two weeks.

  • Yeah they need to buff a lot of perks. They introduced diminishing returns as a way to finally allow for things to change and so far we got jack all besides a total solidification of the meta now that a lot of niche builds are dead.

  • I think that limiting the number of times a boon could be placed can work because boons are currently in an awful spot where they are all pretty meh most of the time and are all in pretty desperate need of a buff.

Don't be disingenuous. You were talking about how he gets a free hit there because he blocks the pallet and M1s. You clearly didn't know he can't attack instantly after teleporting or that the pallet block only lasts for the same length of time he can't attack. Judging by this you may not even know that his speed boost only makes him slightly less fast than a 115% movespeed killer, since you're talking like he gets a burst of speed like Wraith here.

And again, I wasn't trying to show Jason is weak, I was trying to show that his access to ammunition is inconsistent and this is most likely why he was given the move speed boost to bring him up to just shy of normal killer movement speed, instead of being locked to 110% like other projectile killers. In some places he has easy instant access to reloads, in others he doesn't. As a result he has to rely more on M1s than other ranged killers do, as he can't afford to miss shots as much.

… Okay I'll try to explain this easier for you. Since Jason blocks the pallets, someone in that room can't stun him which then lets him either m1 or spear them. Jason is extremely strong and even if he somehow misses the hook is right there and there's essentially no slowdown and since it's all cramp hallways you can't dodge in. The best example you have of his ammo being inconsistent is a location where he wins every throw and can't be mindgamed.

Arguing granular details about killer powers is futile when people don’t play killers for granular reasons. If two killers are similar playstyles, people gravitate towards the more powerful.

I don't agree with this at all. There are people who have a strong preference between characters in the same playstyle. In fact most people do. I also don't think the differences Jason has with most of the killers you mentioned are granular except for the projectile ones.

Ex: I have historically never liked playing projectile killers, but I do like playing Springtrap, because he doesn't have to reload and he can throw his hatchet away to brute force down 110 abuse tiles, which are the reasons why I didn't like playing projectile killers before him.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4096237#Comment_4096237

You don't know what you're talking about.

Jason has a 1 second animation as he exits power and can't move, and then another 1 second period where he can't attack. He only blocks the pallet for this 2 second duration, it's basically just there to keep the survivor from dropping it and stunning him in the middle of his teleport.

If he's running Bamboozle and teleports to a window, he blocks the window with Bamboozle, otherwise the window gets blocked for this same 2 second duration where Jason can't do anything.

Also I never said Jason wasn't strong. But he's strong in the way Spirit or Dracula is strong. He's not overpowered outside of how good he is at guarding hexes.

No I just know the layout of the map. No matter what happens Jason will win that pallet. Because it's blocked in a short room you either spear them or m1 easily since it's all hallways around you. Using RPD to show how he's weak is a horrible idea since even if they run out to the stair vault then you spear them there as Jason has both haste and a fast as hell windup in a cramp area, it's extremely powerful and has essentially no counterplay besides be psychic.

How does the fact they're bots matter here? I'm showing the environment, not demonstrating my skills as Jason.

    I'll do it again:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UVQOKY4NKO1P/20260702224048-1.jpg

Here's the "Scooby-Doo" hallway, as Mr. Tatorhead likes to call it. I have 1 hook to reload from here. In fact, in total on this part of the map, I have only 3 reload points.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9H879FXDHY02/20260702224130-1.jpg

Here's the other two. Neither of them are in the Scooby-Doo hallway, so if I'm lucky and I already have a spear when chasing someone into that hall, I only have one other shot before I'm down to just being an M1 killer or leaving the chase.

And this isn't a complaint, by the way. I think it's good that the survivor is rewarded for dodging/killer is punished for missing. I'm just pointing out the consistency issue Jason has.

However, it's the exact opposite if I were chasing someone in the tile below. In that case I would have a junk pile and hook both easily available inside of the tile and I don't need to go out of my way for either.

PS: Just to be clear what I mean by Scooby-Doo hall:

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jF9z5eFCEJg

Because it does nothing to show how the game actually works. Like even the image you are using shows how powerful Jason is. He blocks the pallet in the statue room and then M1s them and after that pins the person since you can throw over it and if not there's the hook like 0.5 seconds away and the survivor can't get anywhere in that time frame. Same issue with the second image you shown where he can just block the pallet and m1 or throw and then easily reload in chase.

  • @Zakon05 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4096218#Comment_4096218

I mean strictly speaking about the haste effect, what's the difference here between a 12s cooldown and 15s cooldown? They're both shorter than the duration he gets haste for. This nerf would be more to his ability to traverse the map since it would take him longer before he could go back into OE.

But also refreshing it is more inconvenient than it seems. You can only come out of it at a window, pallet, or one of those unique pre-broken pallet spawns. I loaded up a bot game to show the issue.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/S184HXVNHM3N/20260702221214-1.jpg

I chased Tapp to killer shack and then entered OE to refresh haste. I cannot exit OE anywhere on the outside of shack where he is, I have to pick the window or pallet, so he's completely safe until I do.

I also need a new spear. I have two reload points here. Both of them are in inconvenient places. The hook is on the long side of shack, the junk pile is outside of shack. If I miss a shot, I need to go out of my way to get another. If I miss both shots, I simply can't get another until chase leaves shack.

Seriously? A bot game is the best evidence you could come up with, lol.

I couldnt shoot off bird at the people going for unhook and they were able to turn a 2k into 0 k sense I couldnt use my ability to protect my hooks after gates but if I didnt have this dumb anti camp I could use my ability and not be a worse ghost face near hooks. It also costs time after hooking sense the perks I use give me info on gens being worked on and those seconds can cost me generators.

Then just M1 them, problem solved, or better yet just go away from hook if you refuse to m1.

Noed is a bad perk and so easy to cleanse and Deadlock cool slows the game a little but you just work on another gen then go back if you know how to Deadlock isnt all that much of a hisdorince sense you just work on a new gen and the old one still has its progress.

Lol, lamo even. It does not matter if you cleanse Noed or not it only needs to work long enough to get a down and take it to either basement or right next to the hex. Either way you are guaranteed a minimum of two kills if you do this. And your whole assumption requires everyone to be in a four man swf so everyone acts perfectly with up to date information so it's already an auto win against soloq.

Still trapper is bum in chase like he has no power on loop where he hasnt set trap and is just 4,6 m/s m1 killer which is one of worst things in entire game for killer and all that makes difference is skill and type of loop. Even with trap in hand survivor can leave and trapper even with some speed buff cant catch up that fast and his traps has to be very direct one simple missplacement and survivor can run around it, its huge rng compare to hag.

Trapper has terrible chase tbh and even worse power just look at oni who is m1 killer with same speed too but he gains power from hits and survivors being injured and gets timed god mode where he has many best things killer can have, breaking power, speed, controled mobility which can be used not only to get around map but to catch up to the target, isntadown. He is same untill he gets power the trappers weakness is in his power that is huge time waste, offers literary almost nothing its like huge gamble just like taking your whole month salary to casino and throwing in on table to gamble it all at once, even when his power works survivors have few ways how to get from it in seconds or around it and trapper gains nothing or very little (survivor can get from trap in few seconds on first try and gets no penatly, injured survivor gets caught across the map and has no penalty only trapper gets his trap dissarmed and gets bigger punishment because he wasnt around, survivors can save each other in seconds, survivors can hold his traps and others can run on them without traggering them and then leave then dissarm to block the killer).

Like look at pig, very terrible killer with horrible stealth and deffinitely worst dash attack in entire game for years but she has traps that are one of best slowdowns and thats why she isnt that bad (still bad but atlest her power does something consistently and it doesnt suck) which is something trapper doesnt have thats why he is huge adept for rework and I hope they make him better because its shame that poster boy of the game is that bad.

After 10 years he is still able to get caught in to his own traps.

So… are you agreeing with everything I'm saying or not?

Oh no, not a survivor spending the next three minutes not doing anything as they try and find someone to heal them. Gosh what a shame it'll be.

  • Ignoring the massive spike in players showing this is the most successful anniversary event in history. I gotta ask, what do you want from an event? Same garbage as the halloween one where the payoff from interacting with it is so garbage that it's not worth doing anything with?

The anti camp has literally lost me game. Immagin if survivors couldnt use items near completed generators or if someone working in a generator because thats the equivalent. Its also one of the reason slugging has gotten more popular why hook when it turns of yout power why not just slug and not deal with it. Anti camp just make the game clunky.

HAhhahahah how? Seriously how does that even happen to someone? You have to be standing right in front of the hooked survivor for so long? What the heck happened?

  • @Domicci said:

I have yet to lose to a basement trapper. Just stop going in all at once and do generators. Altruism is the number one survivor killer. The amount of game I have lost because my other teammates go in to save while thd killer is breaking a pallet bear hook or hasn't even had the chance to leave yet is inane. And as killer the amount of times I have won slugging all 4 people because they all true yo pallet or flashlight save. Survivors need to learn how to use the hook timer to there advantage.

Yeah that's why you put on deadlock and noed. It no longer matters if you ignore them and the killer still gets a guaranteed 2 kill minimum and if it's soloq then you get four kills.

Yeah, what's agi iron grasp gonna do when… I run across the map out of agi and iron grasp range. MAYBE if its wreckers yard but maps are simply too big for the carry build. Like if you can carry someone to shack basement from opposite side temple of purgation someone must have fed you a second down. It's literally common sense to no go down near basement with a trap killer and even then trapper can just confirm basement and thats about it. He has ONE thing going for him.

Been playing since 2019 and I can tell what hooks I can and can't make just based off the auras alone. I can guarantee you wont make basement unless someone goes down near it with 30 meters with agi. Maybe 40 with both agi and iron grasp.

If you are playing that poorly then I don't even need to get you to the basement lol. Just never going to half the map? Good luck being dead instantly as you path exclusively to places with no pallets.

Trapper is overtuned if you play basement trapper with the right loadout. It's next to impossible to lose and It'd be for the best if that playstyle was nerfed and he got buffs in general to help him.

On occasion yeah, I kinda got bored of how easy it was to win so I don't play it too often. After like fifty games of winning and only like one where I lost it's just dull you know? With survivor it's a lot more of a challenge so I play it more.

If a killer dedicates at least half their build to bringing survivors to basement, then they can get survivors into basement. The cost is that the killer is lacking perks that do anything when they are not carrying a survivor to basement.

Basement Trapper can pretty much guarantee a kill, but securing 1 kill isn't unique to Trapper either. The other 3 survivors can just rush gens and leave. It's not difficult to figure out the killer is Trapper and noticing a survivor was hooked in basement in solo queue.

… Unless you put on no holds barred and noed then you are guaranteed a two kill minimum meaning you can never lose and are more likely than anything to get a minimum of three kills.

  • Killer and it's not even close. Besides the devs literally saying they want the game to be rigged in favor of the killer we can look at things as simple as hit validation being based solely on the killers side giving them tons of free hits and kills.

  • You… do know that iron grasp and agitation exist right? I'm not trying to be insulting but this is literally day one information. AGITATION IS A TRAPPER PERK! Seriously you can't possibly be this new right?

The game is supposed to be slightly killer sided by design. Killer is a far more stressful role as it requires you to keep track of 4 other players, while as survivor you only need to keep track of the killer and if you know someone else is being chased, you can relax while holding a button to progress the game. BHVR targets the 60% kill rate for a reason - so people actually want to play the killer role. When the average has dropped below the 60% rate in the past, there was a huge deficit of killers and super long queue times for survivors. I remember waiting 15-20 minutes for survivor matches during peak evening hours. The queues are much more reasonable now.

Killer is not a stressful role at all lol. Seriously survivors don't have an automatic win button like killers do. All you need to do is camp or tunnel at you get at minimum a two kill. Throw on noed and deadlock and you are gonna get three or four. Super easy.

Thats like one particular thing he doesnt suck at but then you need specific basement not all places where it spawns offer same possibilities like shack. Then trapper sucks and everything else he basicaly is one of few characters that start the game automaticaly loosing and has to fight that huge disadvantage so winning with trapper without basement is huge win.

So… not trying to be rude here but you do understand that there's offerings that let you pick where basement spawns right? Also again it's not exactly hard to win as basement trapper. I think he should get some buffs don't get me wrong but I'm not biased enough to lie and say it's hard to win as trapper.

It’s 60% kill rate, not win rate. Those are very different things. But I do disagree with OP that the game is ridiculously survivor-sided.

Same thing. If you are killing enough people that you are getting that 60% average you are winning most of your matches or getting a tie. Either way it shows how killer sided the game is on a fundamental level.

  • Actually yeah, there are problematic aspects around trapper. I love playing him but I'm not going to pretend it's hard to win games as him if you play basement trapper. He's extremely easy to win as if you know what you are doing.
