I want a robotic killer being controlled by a mad scientist in the game. I think it could be interesting.

Stop asking for unnecessary nerfs and talk about the actual problems, please...

Did you not read my post? I didn't ask for any nerfs I just wanted to hear people's opinions on it.

Detectives Hunch and Premonition for me.

You need to figure out if it's just not clearing the memory as needed, or if something is writing to memory and then not being unloaded (perhaps loading pallets in one map, then not clearing them before loading a new map.)
It really boils down to WHAT and WHERE, and the larger the game, the harder it can be to find. I've had a friend write Python 3 for me with small errors for me to find, and even when it's something as simple as a letter-replacement program (IE: You press 'A' and then enter, and it returns 'Q'), the bugs or typos can be hard to find, nested in the code.
Trying to find a memory leak in a 3D game, which has to call objects such as rocks, trees, crows, pallets, walls, etc. AND their hitboxes, plus characters & killers, and their animations...I don't envy BHVR trying to work through this!

That does make it sound like a memory leak.
I understand now. Thanks for explaining it

In computer science, a memory leak is a type of resource leak that occurs when a computer program incorrectly manages memory allocations in a way that memory which is no longer needed is not released. A memory leak may also happen when an object is stored in memory but cannot be accessed by the running code. A memory leak has symptoms similar to a number of other problems and generally can only be diagnosed by a programmer with access to the programs' source code.
A space leak occurs when a computer program uses more memory than necessary. In contrast to memory leaks, where the leaked memory is never released, the memory consumed by a space leak is released, but later than expected.
Because they can exhaust available system memory as an application runs, memory leaks are often the cause of or a contributing factor to software aging.
A memory leak reduces the performance of the computer by reducing the amount of available memory. Eventually, in the worst case, too much of the available memory may become allocated and all or part of the system or device stops working correctly, the application fails, or the system slows down vastly due to thrashing.
This is really interesting. So how would you fix a memory leak.
-
I have a few questions.
1. What is a memory leak and what causes it?
And
2. How does something like the memory of the game effect something like FPS? They don't seem to be related to each other.
-
I was going to ask why but I can probably guess the reason.
-
Should they and any killer be S teir? Now it seems that when a killer is S teir they are annoying and nearly game breaking. Shouldn't we settle for A teir?
-
I loved the spotlight trailers they were so good and gave a good summary of the whole chapter to those curious. I hope they bring them back

I think they just forgot about its existence

Calling it; Trickster's buffs are solely to Main Event, and are something very small like less recoil during Main Event or something.
I just saw Trickster buff. Reduced knife hits from 8 to 6 but delay for laceration decay is 10 seconds and not 20 seconds. And among other things you can see here

Why do you use it? Just out of curiosity
I prefer it over spine chill. By knowing the direction the killer is coming from regardless of if they are detectable or not can help me plan effectively. Plus spine chill is countered by looking the other direction and i have ran into the killer using Spine Chill. Premonition completely negates those downsides.

What isn't broken at this point?
To be honest I wonder what other perks are bugged. There could be a bunch of perks on both the killer and survivor side that are bugged and we didn't know because they aren't used often.

Combo’ing both Premonition and Spine Chill is still excellent. Get a really good idea on what the killer is doing/where they’re coming from without the downsides of other killer detection.
Yeah I'm thinking about doing that and making a build around them? Although I think I should wait until premonition is fixed

Spine Chill is better than Premonition.
Yeah but I just prefer premonition since spine chill is countered by looking the opposite direction. Plus I have had some bad memories of spine chill lighting up and me running into the killer. Premonition completely negates these too downsides.
-
This is one of the reasons why detectives hunch is permanently in my build. I would also suggest premonition but that Is currently bugged.

You should play any killer you want. I wish you people stop being bullied into following rulebooks. Especially you for whom the game barely works.
You are playing with handicap and you are hesitant to play a more viable killer.
Go all out just don't be toxic like them.
Does this apply to survivors too?

So if we are talking about changing Dead Hard and NOED then I have an idea of how to change the two.
Dead Hard
An Activate-able Perk. You start the trial off 3 token
When Injured, tap into your adrenaline bank and dash forward quickly to avoid an attack
Press the activate ability button while running in order to consume a token and dash forward.
Dead Hard cause the exhaustion status effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
After all the tokens are consumed you permanently suffer from the exhaustion status effect.
Hex No One Escape Death
A Hex rooting its power on hope.
You are animated by the power of your Hex Totem when the Survivors are on the verge of escaping.
Once the exit gates are powered and at least 1 dull totem remaining in the trial grounds, Hex: No One Escape Death activates and transfers to a dull totem for 60 seconds and an additional 5/10/15 seconds for every other totem remaining in the trial.
During this time Survivors suffers from the exposed status effect
The hex deactivates when this totem is cleansed.
The timer starts when you put a survivor in the dying state.

I think BHVR should focus on creating unique and creatively designed characters with compelling backstories. Whatever traits, characteristics or mannerisms that entails is all fine so long as it's well written and done because the people behind it genuinely love the idea.
At the end of the day, the art and design team of BHVR has always been consistantly good (even if the game itself is in a rough state right now).
I agree with this completely. Thank you for being reasonable and rational about this.

Prestige is just that, a perception of their achievement. It doesn't require anything other than that. If you don't like the clothing then don't prestige. You're not missing out on anything, the way it should be.
Well I feel here we are going to have to agree to disagree. In my opinion you should be better rewarded for the hardwork you put in.

@BenZ0 said:

Well I dont see your point bro,
"It still gives the player choice and freedom while it rewards the hardwork of people who take time to prestige."
It is the bloody clothes you get there,
I dont know why you act like you get nothing out of it. I personally play since Oni release oni with his P3 because I love his base outfit and the blood just fits so well, same goes to Deathslinger and Blight, there prestiges are by far the best but most of the otherst still look very good though.
Sure you get something out of it but the reward isn't good enough.
It's like working hard at a job then only getting paid 25 cents. The reward you get does not equal the hard work you put into it. All you get for prestiging is bloody clothes and that's it. All that hard work for a 1 cosmetic that is arguably outclassed by the other paid cosmetics. There is no harm in adding better rewards for prestiging.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2319162#Comment_2319162
what disadvantage? You just need to level this character and get everything back, its just more time you need.
I know there is no disadvantage. But what I am saying is that you could put better rewards for people who prestige their characters without it disadvantaging the people who don't want to prestige.
It still gives the player choice and freedom while it rewards the hardwork of people who take time to prestige.

Then you don't need to. If they made it beneficial to the point you're at a disavantage not prestiging. Well then there's the problem. You no longer have the choice to ignore it.
But you can take steps in order make it so that not prestiging puts you at a disadvantage.
Maybe in the blood web there is a chance to have special clothing or charms you can spend bloodpoints on other then blooded clothing. This would put no one at a disadvantage since cosmetics and charms don't have any gameplay benefits other then darker toned clothing and even then you can prevent dark clothes from appearing in the blood web. This is a good incentive with people still having the choice to prestige or not.

You are right. I think I implied that when I said people would be aggressive
-
Ok so here is how this post is going to go down.
People are going to come in saying something mildly homophobic possibly saying " lgbt characters shouldn't be in the game" and they will claim they won't care which completely contradict themselves by posting at all.
A moderator will pop for a few seconds and remind everyone to be respectful and no one will listen.
Then there is going to be those edgy homophobes posting, then GoodBoyKaru10, Mooks and Orion ect is going to get into an argument with said people about this subject with everyone being passive aggressive.
Then this post will get over 200 comments and completely shift to politics or religion regarding lgbt and then a moderator will come in and shut this post down and bring us all back to earth from arguing with their wisdom and then this post will fade into obscurity.
Did I miss anything or did I sum up correctly the events that is going to take place?
-
I'm so sorry that happened to you. Is there s way to report this person not just to the Xbox but the authorities?

Cool idea.
Major Malfunction seems like it could have some issues though. What happens if you kick a gen with say 10% repair, does it consume the perk? How can you choose when to use it? Just never kicking gens? On it's own it sounds a bit hard to use, but I suppose if paired with say Ruin or Surge it could actually be pretty OP.
Nit-pick: Tetanus... is a bacteria, and the idea you get it from "rusty nails" is a myth, so I wouldn't say the name really fits the concept.
Thank you I'm glad that you like it. I was wondering to myself about Major Malfunction as a perk. I think I can change it to be more useful.

Yes, you are correct, but the difference is that those perks indirectly counter those killers, where as with the other two... They literally talk about trappers traps and hags traps yknow?
Im not sure if i explained it well, but thats the difference.
Ok then. I guess I understand now.

@Aven_Fallen said:
They want to remove Perks which directly interfere with a Killers Power. Thats why they changed Slippery Meat a few months ago, and nobody can argue that this Perk deserved a nerf or anything.
@Luciferr_2nd said:
It wasnt about power
They got rid of it because the devs said they dont want perks to be aimed towards specific killers
Thats why slippery meat doesnt affect traps anymore either
So whether it was OP or not doesnt matter, its not the reason why they removed it
What about Calm Spirit with doctor and spine chill with stealth killers? Don't they technically interfere with killers ability?
-
I hope not. I always enjoy watching the spot light trailers.

Yeah, thats why they nerfed hillbilly. Because killer mains wanted it.
To be fair I don't think survivors wanted it either. I know I didn't. I was on the forum before they started talking about changing him and I don't remember seeing anyone complain about him. I'm sure there could have been one or two post but ultimately I didn't see any.
If they nerfed Billy I'm sure they did it out of their own volition and not because they listened to a side (I could be wrong though)
