Some of your concerns have already been addressed - "we’ve concluded that rank does not directly correlate to skill." Rank is more an indication of playtime than skill and ability. Someone can get to red ranks just by playing due to the nature of the ladder system, where you will more often pip than depip.

The best way to curb those frustrating situations is to find a group using LFG functions either here on the forums or in the official Discord. You can find people that mesh well with your playstyle and will be less likely to cause those scenarios. And if they do those things, you can just find someone else to play with fairly quickly.

Closing this as the intent of the thread has been changed and isn't staying civil.

Burnout is healthy and natural - doing the same thing for years on end will get boring, no matter how many changes are made outside of completely revamping it to a whole new game. Take it as a chance to step away and find something else, and if you try it again later after a break, it might be refreshed for a time.
-
I don't hate it that much, but very few types of ASMR are comfortable to listen to for me. Even those I don't seek out because it can quickly become a problem.
-
Welcome back! There's a lot of new content since a year ago! It's really cool to think about how much the game has changed since then.
Taking breaks is important; I would play the game nonstop for months on end and nothing felt better than coming back even after a few weeks off.
-
I always exclude licensed characters from lore discussions, because I feel like they were picked up as exciting opportunities to bring a cool character to the game, rather than for lore purposes.
With that in mind, all original characters in the game are human. It makes sense as the entity feeds on hope, and humans are complex beings who can still have hope even in the darkest times. We live to actually live, not just survive. So from the entity's view, it can feed on that hope and all the emotions that come with it. There's not that same dynamic with a beast-like creature, or magical/alien characters.
As far as practicality goes, having human survivors fit with storytelling. Someone will relate to them and all their struggles. Not that this couldn't be done with a non-Earthling kind of character, but it makes it feel real, and fits with the classic horror tropes that the game's foundation is built upon.

Ranking up requires you to reach certain thresholds of emblem points, and different actions help upgrade different emblems. It's really complicated to try to explain it in detail, but in general terms:
As survivor, complete generators, don't get downed, help your teammates, and escape chases to improve your emblems.
As killer, stop generators from finishing, sacrifice survivors, prevent them from healing, and down survivors in a chase.
Doing these will increase the quality of emblems and help you rank up.
As for dedicated servers, they are servers that players connect to in order to play the game, rather than connecting directly to other players. These servers host the connection, so worse connections end up being less of a problem than they were on the peer-to-peer system. Before servers, playing against a killer with bad connection could make the game entirely unplayable due to rubberbanding, etc.
-
Ranks reset to the previous color every month on the 13th. If you didn't see it the first time you logged in after, it may have just been a visual bug that didn't update until today.

Rift progress is only gained while it is released and open. Any progress in the times when rifts are closed does not contribute to future or previous rifts.

I believe they've said they're addressing these kinds of questions later today on the Discord. However, this forum is focused on the other platforms, as mobile is a separate team.
You can join the official server here: https://discord.gg/dbdmobile

The bloody cosmetics are not a simple filter added to base cosmetics - they're specially designed to work with the character, and have intentional layouts. Adding the ability to have blood on every cosmetic doubles the work of the art team, as they would have to apply this blood effect to every existing and future cosmetic manually.

All questions are welcome, don't worry!
Multiple disconnects increase the timeout penalty. It naturally decays over time. More information can be found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/128722/status-update-disconnection-penalties

Sorry this happened to you. You did exactly what you needed by reporting them post-game; you don't need to send them additional screenshots or info. I don't know exactly how long it takes for reports to be processed on average, but I'm sure the ACMs get a lot each day and they go through them as they can. This kind of behavior definitely breaks the in-game communication rules, so they'll review your report when they can get to it.
-
There is currently no cross-platform play, so you will not be able to play with PC players on PS4.

From the Rules & Conditions thread (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/141914/rules-conditions-in-game-cosmetic-contest-2020#latest)
"JUDGES
Members of the Dev team will vote for the 30 best designs.
Final decision will be made by a panel including the Creative Director and Art Director."
As for the timeline of when they would be released, nothing has been announced. Any time frame goes. The previous cosmetic contest winners came in the last Rift, about 6 months from the end of the contest, so it will take a while to see them in-game.

Myers has not had any addons removed or changed recently. I believe you're thinking of the J. Myers Memorial addon.

I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that comments should be on topic and constructive to a discussion. This includes calling a post "bait" or insulting other users.
If you believe a post breaks forum rules, use the report function rather than commenting. Thanks.

Bans are not discussed on the forums.
-
There's badges for lots of different things, like commenting, answering questions, and making posts that others find useful. They're purely cosmetic and don't actually do much, so just use the forum normally and you'll eventually get some!
-
You get shards as you level up your account level. The rate of shards to player experience remains constant, however each level takes more experience to level up until level 50.
So:
Levels 1-50: Faster levels at less shards per level
Levels 51-100: Slower levels, but more shards per level

Thanks for the comment mate. Haha I'm assuming you'd choose claudette with that build too ;)
Love it. Interesting build!
My Claudette is fashionable. She vaults windows with grace.
Knowing when to start running towards windows so you can take advantage of the build is important too!

It pairs pretty good with "Spine Chill" and "Resilience" for obvious reasons. That's the only build i use "Lithe" with. My fourth perk is either "Iron Will" when i use a flashlight or "Autodidact".
That's my favorite build, hands down. Spine Chill + Resilience + Iron Will usually, with another perk that flexes. Lithe is definitely in there sometimes!

Rifts have historically released around the same time as the mid-chapter patch goes live.

Don't know if you meant to but I liked the double meaning there.
Could mean "calm spirit" like the perk in the shrine currently or a "calm" spirit meaning a low intensity liquor to take the edge off.
Don't know if that was your intention but if so hats off.
Yeah... let's go with that.
-
Might I offer you a Calm Spirit in this trying time?

Hmmm. You know you might be right about that actually. Now I feel stupid. I just assumed kicking a generator was like breaking a pallet
We've all been there! I remember trying to kick a generator like 5 times because I kept messing up holding the button. It's a regular occurrence!

So how does one get it on console. Lol.
Unfortunately, the game never came to console so it's unavailable on those platforms. You can always say that you want the masks on those platforms in the Feedback section!

Although it can be frustrating, camping is not a bannable offense and is perfectly allowable by the game rules. You can find the game rules here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

Hatch requires the number of generators completed to be more than the number of survivors alive, or only one survivor alive, before it even spawns.
At that point, though, it's just luck finding it as you can't use sound to locate it. I've come across it plenty of times while it's closed, but there's other times where it's nowhere to be found (forgetting to check one place, or missing it entirely)
-
I hope all goes well! We're rooting for you ❤️
-
Deathgarden is currently free on Steam. Add it to your library (and maybe launch it), and you should get the masks in DBD (unless they've changed how it works)
-
While it'd be fun to be able to keep old versions of things, I think the game needs to be able to move on and evolve with reworked characters. Otherwise we'd have the expectation that all old version of perks should also be kept in some form, and the game would get stale.
That being said, I was a big fan of old Freddy and loved playing him. I don't really play him much since the rework, as he became a different killer entirely. But it gave me the chance to move on to new killers and play different things!

Please remember to keep comments civil and constructive. Discuss the topic at hand rather than the people making the posts.

Something else that hasn't been mentioned already - if he had stalked you before, he maintains the level of stalk that he accumulated on you until he hits you. It doesn't have any natural decay, so he can get it to 99% and find you later to finish the stalk.

Can I just dip the crust in ranch? That doesn't sound that bad.
I've had pineapple on pizza before and I didn't like the citrus/juiciness on it with the cheese and tomato sauce.

My favorite fast-food level burger is from Culver's (a chain that started in Wisconsin and has been spreading throughout the U.S.)
The traditional fast-food burgers from Wendy's, Burger King, and McDonald's make me sick, literally. My stomach doesn't agree with them and I've found much better options 😅

Totem spots are difficult to balance, especially because people do learn the spots. Look at maps like Badham Preschool - there's a lot of potential spots, but you can still find them. It does take longer on that map. That's really the only way to make sure they're all not bugged (unable to be cleansed, for example).
On the other hand, if you add so many spawning restrictions, it becomes easier and easier to find them as well. For example, if they never spawn in LOS of or near a generator, survivors know to never look there. It's a really tricky balance to find, and it's the reason totems are high risk, high reward.
-
Report them post-game. For instances in the post-game chat, you do not need to submit additional evidence.
I have removed the screenshots as names should be blurred when highlighting negative behavior.
-
Closing this as the discussion is not staying respectful. Everyone has the right to post just as much as everyone has the right to choose not to post. The same goes for sending messages post-game. Sometimes the best course of action is to say nothing at all.

Thank you! That was probably what it was then. Is there any way to check on the approval?
That's on our end - your thread is back up 😄

Editing posts, especially multiple times in a short period, can trigger the spam filter and mark it for approval.

You can try holding sprint to circumvent this - you shouldn't be able to snap out of it while sprinting. It's like how you can use Dead Hard while "standing still" even if you're just holding sprint.
Is there a way to adjust keybindings so they're different? I'm not too familiar with the options on console.
@WeenieDog said:
The only thing I can think of is:
Maybe when you let go of the snap out of it action> got an unlucky skill check and failed> screamed and it locked you out of any action.
The scream doesn't cancel pallet throws, as far as I know. On consoles, those actions use the same keybind by default.

There have been many times where I play with potatoes who have no awareness and they run straight to the killer (suprising a rank 1 survivor).
Therefore, can I get banned if a survivor gets themselves farmed? Just curious since to the ACMs, it could look like I'm farming when really I'm not trying to farm. 😁
"Farming" off the hook is different than going into a game to work with everyone to get points. Neither are inherently bannable as long as it's not griefing.
