I'm not opposed ad long as they fix up some of the boring moris

that's true, the early killers could really do with new moris. the bar has been raised so much higher since then as soon as mori's like nurse, and then ghostface is just... wowza.

  • she breaks a fundamental rule of the game which the entirety of DBD is balanced around

the killer is in first person, and the survivors are in third person, for a reason.

spirit completely ignores that. it doesn't matter that the survivors are in third person because you can't see her anyway, and it doesn't matter that she's in first person because she can't see you anyway. conceptually she doesn't belong, and in practice, she's impossible to deal with.

also the thing i hate the most is the fact that she has those fidgets which make her drop her red stain and make her disappear. the fact she gets mindgames for free as part of just walking around is the cherry on top. she didn't need that, she also didn't need to be completely invisible, she also didn't need to have no fatigue state, she also didn't need to be extremely fast, she also didn't need to be able to see scratch marks or hear survivors, she also didn't need... you get the idea.

literally she's just a much faster paced wraith with no warning, and wraith is already almost too fast paced and balanced only because of his warning.

you've seen how heated people get when killers ask for a non-sickening FoV, just imagine what'll happen when people finally realise that spirit not only counters the survivor third person camera, she also doesn't even need to be in first person at all.

  • this dude wouldn't know toxic if it logged onto his playstation account and started harassing another user.

    1. That's a serious oversimplification. It's like saying DbD is a game about fog.
    2. I get it, but if it did that, bypassing the filter would be ridiculously simple.

dbd is a game about fog.

anyway, that's what reporting people is for!! like why are we discussing this as if the chat filter is the only thing stopping people saying racist things? automation prevents the blatant and obvious cases and then humans pick through the rest. an overzealous chat filter is a symptom of laziness, and makes me feel less protected than a nuanced but exploitable chatfilter, because i assume that the people in charge will assume that the chat filter will remove literally everything and then there's nothing left to report.

Racists use that word as an abbreviated version of the n-word.

    1. dark souls is a series about knights
    2. proper chat filter implementation that actually seeks to protect people from this language wouldn't filter out the middle of words, nor would it filter out words like "rump"

At least it's not as bad as Dark Souls. My buddy named his character "Crumpet" and the profanity filter turned it into "C****et". Apparently they consider "rump" a bad word 😂

So apparently BHVR added the gnome from L4D2 as a Rare Charm. How long will this be a thing? I don't know.

Once Endgame Collapse starts by either unlocking the exit gate or closing the hatch, the gnome will spawn. You will know it spawned because you will hear a laughter once Endgame Collapse starts.

During Endgame Collapse you need to look around the map for the gnome, if you get close it will make a laughter noise. It's quite small... so keep your eyes open.

Once you smash it as killer / survivor ONCE you'll unlock it for both sides & all characters.

Once someone smashes the gnome, it will laugh and spawn somewhere else.

This is best done with Killer. Close hatch & slug the last person then look for the gnome + you don't need to worry about the survivor stealing your precious gnome. As survivor you need to ESCAPE to get the charm, hence why killer is easier.

That's all. If I missed anything, let me know in the comment and I'll edit

why should i bother slugging the last survivor when all the survivors will hang around the exit waiting to teabag at me before they leave? seems like an unnecessary extra step

  • going through this thread i'm glad some of you guys aren't in charge. your open hatred of EW1 to the point of saying "just remove it" or contriving ways in which it literally just will not exist without addons is really uninspired. if anything it's the middle child EW2 that should go. myers oscillating between undetectable and lethal would be terrifying and hilarious.

  • the survivor in me loves this

but the killer in me hates it

i'd probably make it 40 seconds just so it's not recurring BT

  • i was playing plague tonight, that exact situation happened in one of my games, i appreciate you knowing whose fault that is and not being toxic towards the killer even if it wasn't me

    not sure what's confusing you

Perk tiers needs to go. Grind on new killers I want to learn is insane and I have been aying for a year now. Can't imagine what new players thinking about this lol

they think it sucks. they think it's frustrating being held back from builds they want because they have to grind out a bunch of bloodpoints. they resent having to level david and bubba to get the BP doubling perks unlocked.

and all i can say to them is "i'm sorry, i hope they fix it someday".

  • they don't seem to care, but i don't know what needs to be done to get them to start caring about it.

for the killer maybe. for the survivors it's just a lost game that most likely still could have been won that's cut short for no reason.

That's exactly my problem with it. you have a tense game and then it's just over because one just leaves. The others probably won't stand a chance anymore. It makes an exciting game and turns it into a boring stomp where you have to feel bad cause it's really not their fault their teammate just bailed.

It's kind of like monopoly where one player just decides this isn't fun anymore and gives all his properties to the winning player. It just ruins the game for everyone

It's just bad for both sides

i actually had a match tonight where 2 people decided to jump out of the hatch at 1 gen left, leaving 1 survivor on her own to die. and it really felt like a close match had all the tension sucked out of it like an oyster. so, ultimately, i completely agree. however, i don't think keys have no place whatsoever, just that maybe they shouldn't be capable of just obliterating the mood.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2181757#Comment_2181757

Even that wouldn't be fine. as long as keys allow the game to end halfway they will never be fine.

Hatch needs to only spawn when there is one survivor left or all gens are done. that's it. that's all that needs to happen

one survivor slipping out early is actually better than a kill. i did nothing and a player vanished from the game. the other three are in major hot water now.

i just hate the blowhards that make it a show and dance. they wait around for me to find them, specifically so they can teabag and point at me before popping it open and leaving directly in my face. it's the toxicity and the showboating that upsets me, not the hatch escape itself.

  • whenever i go up against a weirdly psychic killer i just have to bow down to their skill. their game sense is just off the charts unreal when they're predicting my every move. killers that can say to themselves "if i were that dwight, where would i have gone?" and then come straight at me make me lose my MIND. do this to me and i will definitely be kissing your boots in the after-match chat.

i should of elaborated, i meant keys like on a 1 person escape ect, or using it to walk through a killer, or simply the addon type aura reading

    they're still not fine.

give them a 15 second long animation, that cannot be cancelled, and can be grabbed, and interrupted on hit, for an escape for one person only, and then the hatch moves afterwards, whether the escape is successful or not, and i'll say keys are fine. that or pay me £300, i do in fact take cash bribes.

i feel like... i just played against you. because that absolutely happened in one of my plague games tonight.

thanks for blaming your teammate instead of expecting free second chances.

  • i play both sides and i disagree with you in one place. keys are not fine in any way.

no, i won't elaborate, because i'm not arguing about this - with you, or with anyone else. keys are not fine, full stop.

everything else has its place though, it's true. even teabagging.

  • the fact that survivors can bamboozle killers simply by just running around them in extremely tight circles is actually so immersion breaking.

i hate doing it, i hate when it's done to me. it's just really ugly and stupid and it's clownery.

who cares if it's harder to tuck yourself into a little nook and avoid the killer? add bushes to the little corner spots to balance it if you absolutely can't survive without squeezing yourself into a tight little corner at every opportunity, just get rid of the circus act and frankly ridiculous mechanic where the closer you get to a killer the harder you are to hit.

Yeah, I love using killers' powers or a second perk to make the challenges more reasonable. I used Mikey for that challenge and equipped Sloppy Butcher for the Blood Echo challenge.

Mikey was also really good for a previous Haunted Grounds hit-survivors-while-they're-Exposed challenge. 😈

oh my god i just saw the blood echo challenge. "hit survivors suffering from hemorrhage while using the perk blood echo"

yep. definitely going to equip sloppy for that one LMAOO catch me not struggling to get this done

  • sorry, stealing this thread now to talk about good games

just had a really good match as plague with 2 really good, competent survivors, 1 baby newbie survivor and 1 claudette who hid the whole match and waited for everyone to die so she could get hatch.

i killed 1 of the competent ones... for fun, tbh, i downed and carried the newbie to the hook and then put her down under it instead of killing her, and i let the other competent one go for fun.

because my sights were set on the claudette.

the claudette, quite predictably, was nowhere to be found at all. she had mastered the art of just vanishing into the fog and she was expecting me to be mindless, killing everyone i came across. she'd even made a map offering and had a plan of where she wanted to hide, which i found her in at one point with BBQ. crouching around in front of lockers to stop herself getting idle crows, and then creeping in as soon as my TR approached.

i knew she had to die.

i purposefully "botched" the meg and cheryl's escape and waited for spies from the shadows to inform me of where the claudette was going to be. they let me know, i found her, and i downed her. not only did i down her, i downed her scant inches from the hatch, which she was running to get - a hatch she'd definitely scouted out in advance. a hatch i got to snap shut on her nose before taking her to the hook where she deserves to be after trying to let her teammates die for her own selfish ends.

i'm very happy with what i did and it's one reason why i like this game.

  • some people legitimately have killer main disease and force survivors to depip for their source of fun so they make it their objective.

it's really weird. like at that point you gotta just take a break i think but they don't! they sure do just keep going.

  • probably because they only just got reworked, so people still wanna see & play on the new maps to check them out, and want to learn how to play them.

everyone says this happens a lot but it has literally never happened to me

    Good for you I guess?

The amount of hateful messages I get (over the dumbest things) outweigh the amount of "nice messages" I've receive while playing this game.

what i'm saying is, your experiences are not universal.

  • @BasementDweller said:

This feature would allow the survivor role to be much more tolerable as you can hold people accountable for what happened in game and being able to potentially help someone or yourself understand another persons point of view.

It wouldn't be used to "help" anyone, it would probably be used more like this.

"Wow you're ******* at the game, do everyone a favor and uninstall the ******* game you ********* ****!"

everyone says this happens a lot but it has literally never happened to me

the number of times i've actually had a fun chat with the killer/survivors after the match far outweighs the number of times the chatfilter has actually filtered hateful messages instead of just messages that contain normal words, let alone actual hate or toxicity.

  • i just played a round of pig where every survivor that booped my snoot got spared.

    they all booped it.

then they started beckoning for me to put them on hooks. 2hooked each survivor and then went on "chases" around the map to grind some BP and make sure they didn't depip.

and then the server crashed so the game got fully cancelled anyway the point is, if you're having a rough time with sweaty tryhards, the best remedy... is to not be one! be something else. be a bing bong wraith. be a myers that just watches people. screw around, have fun with it! were those survivors going to annoy me if i weren't playing boop pig? maybe. but i rewrote the script into something that i knew i was gonna have fun with no matter what, and i had fun.

  • it's a huge map, and spies has a maximum distance you can be from the crow before you don't get the alert at all.

  • i only dodge if i literally just played against that group of people in the previous match. and that's only because i'm not allowed to change killers any more.

  • a survivor i've hooked twice constantly bodyblocking for their teammates knowing they no longer have consequences for their actions? or just working on gens literally nonstop because they're a waste of my time and they know it?

    no thanks

Yeah, idk why no other killer hasn't. Custom chase music seems pretty simple to add in the game.

listen. if the forums burn down over the existence of this for another couple months i'm going to be so bored. every thread is already killer mains vs survivor mains tearing each other down over minor things, i don't need to see more ammo for that war.

It might even be the Resident Evil killer, considering the looks of some of those zombies. But yeah, that wasn't exactly hiding their intentions on cooking up another body horror killer.

(The picture of her barfing on Dwight was hilarious because the specific question was if it was an accurate representation of the experience of Dead By Daylight, which... yes. Yes, it is. About the only thing more accurate would have been a picture of four Dwelfs tbagging a Nurse at the exit gates.)

that's true, there's some truly gross stuff in RE, but i'm pretty sure the RE stuff would be fully solidified by the time the survey came out (and not entirely their decision anyway) so they probably wouldn't bother asking in that case.

    She's pretty different than Nurse.

Can you explain that for me, please?

in that she'll teleport next to survivors to hit them. it's a bit superficial comparing hag to nurse, for sure, but with a bit of setup she does basically the same thing.

She is played in tourney's because of her strong camping abilities.

i feel like fundamentally she's very similar to nurse, and i think tournaments have different scoring systems than just bloodpoints. still, like you said, she's still strong and playable on console, so there's at least that much!

  • @DapperTrapper said:

Neither nurse nor spirit are OP, you guys just don't know how to play. Why are survivors so entitled? If you don't know how to play against certain killers, learn. Don't try to get them nerfed. Worst part is survivors like you that cry about the queues and all the Bubba's camping. You have so little self awareness it's hilarious.

i literally signed my post as "someone who plays both survivor and killer" and you're getting all uppity, dismissive, referring to me as exclusively a survivor, and then said i have "so little self awareness it's hilarious".

  • @Pulsar said:

It's only going to happen after SWF gets addressed. Either by nerfing them (how) or by buffing Solo's and Killers so that we can have an even playing field.

Also please don't nerf the one competitive Killer on Console. We don't have Blight or Nurse :(

i don't play on console, so correct me if i'm wrong, but you can play hag on console, right? she's the 4th competitive killer (seriously, she's played in tournaments, that's how strong she is) so you're not all out of hope if spirit goes down.

  • @DapperTrapper said:

    • Guys I'm totally a Spirit main, i'm not just saying it to try and boost my opinion, I pinky swear it!

Are survivors really gonna resort to this kind of pathetic lies to try and get killers nerfed? Why instead of spending time crying on forums they don't git gud?

are you seriously resorting to "us vs them"?

spirit and nurse are OP, and the fact you're defending spirit based purely on the fact she's a killer means your opinions are founded in tribalism rather than reasoning.

signed, someone who plays both survivor and killer.

but if this was done and you could safely heal outside of the terror radios multiple times, there’s be no reason to even bring a med kit or get healed by a teammate.

the only way I could see such a change being done is if Self Care was one time use. Otherwise, what your asking for is way to much. It currently taking so long, but being multi-use is a balanced trade off.

here's the reason to bring a med kit or be healed by a teammate:

    the perk slot

  • it would be nice if it were slow af inside the TR and then a little better when you're outside the TR.

i know it sucks today because of it being used mid-chase in the past, and i don't think that's a problem that needs to come back to the game, but adjustments could be made to improve its use outside of chase without bringing hell back to earth.

  • oh... last thing i'd do

i'd have it so that, in the menus and lobby, instead of looking ahead or at the survivors, he looks directly into the camera. like, legit have him stalking You while you're setting up his loadout and stuff.

  • first thing, i'd add a 2018 skin which changes his sounds and music to be that of the 2018 movie

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKKfaWGZ2c

crucially important. cannot explain how important this is. i would also add a skin where he is shirtless, but that is more self-serving than important. but it's still important, because being self serving is important and you should all treat yourselves to what you want!

mechanically, the core concept is the same, but i would make the tombstone piece basekit.

    hear me out.

instead of the mori condition being "evil within 3", the condition is that the survivor is in the dying state, and after having stalked the survivor completely dry. their aura has turned completely blood red and you cannot gain any more evil within from them. i would also make this process take longer, enough time for the survivors to have an "oh bad word" moment when they realise why he's still stalking even though he's already at EW3. i would like myers to personify what he does in the movies, and i would like his gameplay mechanics to reflect his sheer patience.

    "what if i get bodyblocked?"

you made a mistake. don't hide from myers. run from myers. run and run and don't ever stop.

And what if the exposed status on those killers works by copying the power duration and applying it to the survivors with an alternate icon that doesn't show duration?

it wouldn't because that's literally the worst way to do it.

they go into a state with a UI indication and the state comes with the exposed status. the state itself is its own thing on its own timer for ghostface, and for myers, it's based on his power. doing it any other way would be nonsense.
