Sluzzy has always been satire. The sign of good satire is presenting it in a way in which people believe that its not satire.

and what would be the punishment for the killer not commiting to chases, and instead chosing to do nothing beyond scare survivors off a 3-gen and running back to the gens to do more nothing?

please stop acting like the killer doing their job and the survivors griefing are two sides to the same coin.

the killer has to stop you doing gens. the game literally tells you to do this in the help & tips section.

  • you don't even have to play a lot just enough so you

sluzzy and tony killed them before they could finish 😰😰

  • why would you think that? do you lie about how good you are, tony?

  • very very proud that your username doesn't check out

  • well, i can at least say that this tome is turning me into a plague main. she's just very enjoyable, once you get over the whole... vomiting thing.

i'm good, so long as i don't think about what it smells like.

  • the archive has a challenge that requires you to have 4 survivors reach max infection on plague. based on casual play (myself), i only just got around to doing the killer challenges yesterday, and finished them today. it stands to reason the majority of people who played survivor first are now getting around to the killer half of the tome, where plague is mandated.

i could say the exact same about bill, for the exact same reason.

So... you tunneled because you're too lazy to look for a new survivor and BBQ didn't hand you your next chase on a silver platter?

Have you actually faced the OP or are you just being strange?

not to my knowledge lol. i'm pretty sure i haven't, since i did like... 4 killer games today.

perhaps this is just them indicting themself over their own playstyle?

  • @dezzmont said:

Ultimately any attempt to shame the killer into playing 'clean' for the sake of strangers they are in an oppositional relationship with is an argument that depends on refusing to recognize the feelings and humanity of the killer player by exalting the feelings of the player who got hooked over the feelings of the killer.

If you hook farm, you put two other players in a bad situation: If the killer doesn't tunnel, they probably lose because they are losing a ton of value the hook generates and are getting negative tempo because they wasted time to hook that person and aren't getting an easy chase out of it or them off gens for a reasonable length of time. If they do tunnel, that person they tunnel have a bad time.

It isn't even a 'be mad at the hook farmer' situation. It is a 'Its a team game and its on you to understand how team dynamics work and accept team games naturally involve you not having total control all the time because it is antithetical to the design of a team game for one player to have so much input on the outcome of the game that they can overcome any situation regardless of how bad their team is.' situation.

The person hook farming is just a bad teammate, and you should walk that off after (hopefully) explaining to them why that hurt their teammate. Complaining to the killer that they failed to be cooperative with the unhook is insanity and will never work, your just sabotaging your long term growth as a player to assume that the killer has any obligation to not play as mean as possible against you, especially because the game is tuned assuming they will do just that.

this is such a healthier and more elaborated and less spiteful version of my thread! now i'm glad i posted it, if it prompted you to post this as a reply.

basically, 100% absolutely yes! could not agree more. total knockout, a home run of a post.

I think the survivors shouldn't start coughing until fully infected. Symptoms of sickness shouldn't be that apparent that soon.

Imagine if just one blast from The Doctor had survivors screaming each second until they finally reached Tier 3 Madness and Snapped Out of It...

not comparable. the doctor can blast his entire terror radius every 60 seconds. plague has to either find people, or survivors have to willingly infect themselves on a contaminated object. in either case, she earned that coughing, and if you don't want to cough any more then cleanse.

  • just saw a thread about how plague needs a buff yesterday.

Unhooks follow a binomial distribution. With the base chance and 3 attempts, there's an 11.5% chance of self-unhooking. With the +7% from the offering, it's 29.5%.

You just proved my point about why the numbers are worthless. People simply do not understand the math.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2175310#Comment_2175310

even if i didn't know the math, which like. isn't hard to do because of calculators

The calculations are not the problem, it's the (often incorrect) way in which people do them.

yeah sorry but no, i'd rather people not know how strong something is because they did the maths wrong vs people not knowing how strong something is because the game literally refuses to tell them how strong it is in an objective manner.

My point is that most people can't do the math. Putting it in terms of "slightly", "moderately", etc. is better if you want to convey the idea of how these things affect the game. Those who want to (and can) do the math can check the wiki for the exact percentages.

even if i didn't know the math, which like. isn't hard to do because of calculators. i know that 20% slower is considerably slower but considerably slower doesn't mean that it's 20% slower.

  • @Orion said:

If it takes 80 seconds for a generator to be fully repaired, how long would it take if the repair speed were slowed by 20%?

This is for OP only, please refrain from answering if you're not OP.

    quick question: what's your point?

  • you know what?

i think it's laughable that balance is even being attempted in a game where the killer can just choose to be more powerful and then the survivors can just choose to fix gens faster. like, what's the point? you want wraith to be more of a threat at high ranks, just use the "i want to win very much" squares.

in general, i hate addons and i don't think things like that have a place in a game that's trying to be competitive.

  • seems this patch has had a bunch of irritating little changes that are screwing us over, like the removal of struggle points.

whoever's responsible for this had better revert this nonsense, otherwise they'll soon have a dying game on their hands. i have seen it happen with other games where the devs start to remove quality of life and cool little tricks and started screwing players over more, and then everyone got mad and quit. you know what? i'll actually just namedrop wakfu for this one. it's a great example of devs screwing players over for literally no reason other than to make us play the game more, and everyone just left instead.

M1 on Gen enough give you iri Object, M1 on survivor & hook give you iri Altruism. If team mate good in chase, you get iri Survival.

The only thing requires skill is Boldness.

i get my boldness from cleansing totems :D.......

  • my name is censored gang

  • literally i'm a bad survivor, all i do is touch generator, touch bones and then touch hook. i can't chase worth a damn, i am the weakest link in my team always. i run perks specifically to avoid engaging the killer at all because i am godawful at chasing.

It's good to be reminded of this fact honestly.

I keep forgetting the challenges aren't really that complex :D

Not the exact temperatures obviously, but the fact that some levels display signs of being below 50 degrees (the temperature that kills the sisters in 8) shows that at least some are below 50.

visual signs like snow, perhaps, but i don't recall ever seeing frosty breath or shivering survivors at ormond or in the meat locker on gideon's.

the entity's realm is not the normal world. it's like a dream, or an afterlife. you can't guarantee it's cold. hell, you can't even guarantee people die at all here. the entity feeds on negative emotion, not deaths, and i'm not even sure all of them are alive in the first place.

  • if what you are doing is progressing the game towards a conclusion, it's not bannable.

question: did you make progress towards killing survivors when you downed that survivor?

    answer: yes

    conclusion: not bannable

  • it's called a challenge.

like... it has nothing to do with the perk.

there have been prior perk challenges. "get healing skill checks while using the perk Empathy", is one example. does Empathy have anything to do with healing speed or healing skill checks? no. "stun a killer with a pallet that has been reset using the perk Any Means Necessary" - does that perk have anything to do with better stuns? no!

the challenge is to unhook survivors in the terror radius while using the perk borrowed time. the perk is literally only relevant for validating the challenge, but it has nothing to do with the actual action you're performing, just like a bunch of the other perk specific challenges.

  • Lorewise wouldn't make sense for the daughters since they are Confined to fairly warm temperatures otherwise they would die. Yes this game isn't cannon but the devs have made it clear that they don't want to contradict fundamental parts of each character

do you know the temperature of the entity's realm?

The devs aren't oversupplying survivor players on purpose. It's more of an accident. Player populations peak during the evenings and that's when survivors face lengthy queue times and killers almost instant queue times. Which means the game has more people survivor than is needed right now. The question is why?

Now some might say who cares? But the issue is it's forcing newer and more casual killers into matches against high rank survivors, which increases the difficulty and unfun factor of the game for them. Faced with such difficulty in what is meant to be a casual party game, many leave or stick to survivor. Only compounding the killer shortage.

For me the biggest reason why a large chunk of DBD players refuse to play killer regurarly are as follows:

    • Optimization hurting killers more. On low end platforms/hardware killers suffer with more consistent FPS drops than survivors. It's why 360s were so common a tactic against console killers before crossplay. It was easy to pull off when killers saw their game turn into a slideshow when survivors got close to them.
    • The lack of social element with killer. People like to play with their friends and if you want to play killer with your friends you have to have 4 other friends available to do so. Plus unlike survivors who can earn bloodpoints, dailies, rift challenges, and shards from playing with friends, killers are forced into custom games where no progress is earned.
    • Their is a difficulty whiplash that comes from the solo-SWF gap. A casual killer who first starts out against uncoordinated solos will learn to play the game at a more slower pace with more mistakes. But then they start getting matched against SWF and they suddenly start doing terrible. The game gives them no warning if they are going against SWF or solos. So they are then forced to tryhard and sweat every match just in case. Which turns off people looking for fun matches that don't force everyone to sweat. A lot of people get into this game to roleplay playing their favourite horror icons, but DBD's current gen/kill rush meta scares off a lot of those killer players.
    • No easy way to train as killer. Survivors can join up with a friend who can show them the ropes, but killers are all alone. The only way for killers to get help is through custom games and as I mentioned in point 2, that requies having 4 other players on hand to help you.

Honestly besides a few killers (Trapper, Myers, Depipster, Pig) killers are not as weak as they were in the past. The issue is killer is not fun for too many people and in the long run this will hurt DBD. High rank survivors will only endure long ass queue times for so long before leaving the game.

The killer shortage is problem of people not having fun and I do think addressing my 4 points will make killer fun.

this 2nd bullet point is actually fat. it's huge and juicy. the assumption is that if i play with my friends we'll cheat, which

    1) who cares if we farm bp? i can do it with randoms with killer, why can't i do it with friends?

    2) i just wanna kill my friends and earn bp for it. sometimes i'm not in the mood to play survivor but i wanna play dbd with my two friends. sometimes i've finished all my survivor rift challenges and want to do the killer challenges.

the lack of social aspect is absolutely killing killer.

also, as an aside, queuing with even 1 friend would prevent 4man swfs.

  • not a fan of how much harder struggling is now.

  • the old struggle was actually roughly 900 bloodpoints, if you continued to mash all the way through the entity taking you up into the sky (as you are considered still on the hook and still struggling) as opposed to the 650 or so if you stopped as soon as you can no longer be saved.

  • i would increase myers to 130% movespeed, until he's within 32m of a survivor or unfinished generator or powered exit gate and remove his shirt

i would make trickster a 115% movespeed killer and make it so you have to "mend" to remove his knives instead of them just decaying

i would make nurse unable to shorten her blinks by aiming down

i would make hag traps removable by smearing them with your hands

i would put a little hat on victor 🀠

i would make trapper able to carry 3 traps as basekit, and make escaping one singular interaction which is longer but guaranteed to succeed and remove his shirt

i would revert freddy's rework because the older version of him offered a playstyle that no longer exists and i miss it, he's boring now (maybe keep the "sleep on hit" effect and make him unable to down awake survivors)

i would give ghostface this mask

    Untitled Image

i would give spirit a second to swing after phasing and then make her fatigue like nurse

i would make blight break pallets on his first rush instead of having to bounce first

i would make demogorgon wear pants

i would make oni suck blood from the survivor themselves like stalking instead of getting it from those droplets because i think they're kind of unfun when they're used to locate people and also remove his shirt

i don't play hillbilly nor do i see him played so i have nothing to say about him

    doctor is fine

i would make legion be able to switch between frank and julie by jumping into a locker. what does julie do that's different? who knows...

i would make plague go to the doctor

fine, charlotte can also have a little hat to go on top of her existing hat 🀠

i would make huntress hum different things depending on what content is coming next. seriously, i think if instead of dropping a twitter trailer they simply had her hum this, it would set the forums on fire so much better.

i would make clown officially celebrate fingers sunday as part of his lore

i would have to put a lot of thought into how to change pig to reduce RNG without necessarily stripping her of flavour, a lot more thought than a goofy post in this kind of thread is demanding of me.

i would make deathslinger be able to shoot people who are channeling keys, but in exchange he is now 100% speed and no longer owns any shirts

i would make pyramid head lose his pants, actually, not his shirt.

i would make bubba a 110% killer because i feel like he should chase a little bit longer. also no shirt.

    think that's everyone... πŸ‘Ό

  • i basically just assume noed on any killer whose power isn't immediately dangerous. wraith, spirit, nurse, hag, you get the picture. any killer whose power doesn't directly damage survivors.

in any game i try to sniff out their perks anyway but if i can only reasonably suss out 2 or 3 then i start touching boners, just in case.

  • agitation is... already super strong on territorial setup killers. just buff fire up.

  • seriously, i spent a decent amount of money on all the dlc's, please give me more bloodpoints. i don't feel like it's too big of an ask.

  • heard from a friend there was an issue where if survivors were downed in a specific way, they'd fall inside the tractors and be unreachable

    which. oof!

  • the game doesn't have a vampire in it. her design is fantastic. she's becoming extremely iconic in such a short period of time. everyone fell in love with her immediately. like, why wouldn't people want her?

the fact she's so strong a competitor to have thread after thread made about her means she's doing something hella right.

  • that's not holding the game hostage it's just a stalemate. both sides are playing for the purpose of achieving their goals, neither of you are drawing things out as long as possible for the sake of pissing off the other team.

and honestly? wouldn't you actually just be happier that the game timed out? because i certainly would. i also play both sides and if a game goes on for more than 20 minutes it's because something unpleasant is happening. i would happily take my W/L, take my bloodpoints, and go into the next match.

  • enough debating what the killer's "job" is, the game literally tells them to stop survivors from doing their objectives

    Untitled Image

killers SHOULD DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER to stop survivors from repairing 5 generators to power the 2 exit gates and make their escape.

    scientists should study you.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Allow the killer to open the exit gates after 20 minutes.

Ensures games never last too long and can't be used by 3genning legion or doc to get easy kills

the legion or doc in this situation are actively doing their jobs by patrolling the generators and preventing them getting fixed. it's The Point of that role. your answer is literally the same as a forfeit button, when survivors shouldn't have "being boring" as a route to victory in the first place.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2166873#Comment_2166873

I'm not sure they've said specifically what the minimum amount of time is, but it's something like 15 minutes. If it gets close to or surpasses 15 minutes of survivors not touching a generator, then report them in-game and also submit a ticket with video evidence (it requires both).

oh my god. they can just have the survivors instantly die if they don't touch a gen in 15 minutes lol! why are these rules not enforced in the game itself?

  • @wxnickxw said:

Well I was going to say it's easy enough to catch survivors when the hide, they get crows if they stay to long so if your paying attention and checking every locker while moving methodically through the map you can Track down two survivors easily but infigured you'd be better off with a perknthaybdoes thay for you.

And although really slow I don't believe it's bannable for the survivors to be so good at hiding that you can't find them.

I'm curious.did you find them both together or just get one in the end? Or did they escape

they were both together, both in basement lockers racking up "basement time" points and griefing me while they were at it.

i suspect any time i wasn't there they would be out of the lockers wiggling around the room, and then as soon as i come near, they both hop in the lockers.

survivors that are hiding while trying to accomplish something (hatch, generator) are actually trackable and findable because of crows. survivors that just do this, which is griefing, are only discoverable if you check literally every single locker on the map.

do you want to know how i found that out? πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

  • @GannTM said:

They can at least make it where they have afk crows if they haven’t finished repairing gens after a specific time.

god yes. literally anything to prevent them just deciding not to play and being babies because i did my job. touch one generator every 6 minutes (not a huge ask) or get a crow. hopefully if you don't touch a generator for 12 minutes the crows kill you for your cowardice

  • honestly never understood why, at any other point in the game, i can hold shift and block people from healing me, but when i'm on the hook it just stops being a feature

give it a visual cue if you must - the survivor brings their legs up and curls up on the hook - just allow me to not consent to the unhook, please. there are many cases outside of getting hook farmed where i don't want to be unhooked right away, like if my gen's almost done or if there's a hex totem right next to me or i'm next to an exit gate that's not open yet. let me drop the hint that they should do the other thing first.
