This is why I think they're hesitant to add in an overtly LGBT character, because it really is a minefield of implications for existing characters.

However, retroactively adjusting in game lore isn't an attractive prospect either, so if they are to include LGBT in the future... it would probably be best as an off-hand or subtle remark within a characters lore section. No stereotypical design choices, nothing too obvious that confirms that all existing characters are cis/het, just something that shows the new character isn't. Can still then believe that Nea or Felix are gay if you want then.

it's not a lore adjustment or retcon for claudette to be a lesbian, it's literally just telling us more about this character who just "Likes Science" and that's basically it. she's so much of a blank slate otherwise.

  • as a gay person i for one am super tired of companies making announcements about gay characters.

    1. my identity is not a marketing gimmick. it is not something to be packed up and sold to consumers.
    2. it takes away from the idea that people can just Be Gay. you know what would be great? if you just said that existing characters are gay. just pick a bunch of original survivors like claudette, meg, jeff, felix, ace, jane and then a bunch of original killers like nurse, hag, trapper, trickster, deathslinger, charlotte and just tell us they're lgbt in some way. like, wow! jeff is gay, and meg is ace, and felix is trans! why does it gotta be something i have to look forward to in "the future"? just give it to me now, you literally have the ability.
    3. i hate the idea of "every single character we've added so far is definitely cis and het, because we're making a big deal out of this next one not being cis and het. finally, for you homos out there, we're adding a new killer, The F-slur!" like okay. i doubt you'll be so tasteless as to actually name a killer that but you understand how it feels like that, right? am i getting it across?
    4. i'm so glad that i got confirmation that every single character is straight because you went out of your way to make sure that i'm hyper aware that the new guy is gay. whoever it is, you've circularly confirmed all existing characters as definitely straight, because you didn't sell them to me as a gay product to consume, so they're just not.

my conclusion is in point 2 - you already have characters, just tell me some of them are lgbt already. queer people just exist and you have every ability to just make some of these existing characters lgbt so just, do it already. don't make me wait, don't hype up the fact that people like me exist, don't market me to consumers, just tell me you support me and approve of me by making characters that are queer like me.

why do i have to wait?

actually, better question. why do i have to be part of the advertising? advertising for a product that isn't actually ready yet, and is just nebulously "coming in the future"? every company does this and i don't feel supported or approved of, i feel exploited and sold.

edit: i have even more to say, i'm not done yet.

    1. when you make a big deal about a character being gay and make a big announcement out of it, you're mirroring the "coming out" experience of gay people, which sucks. it sucks being "in the closet", it sucks having to "come out", dealing with the stress and the fear and the pain of coming out to people in every new setting i come into contact with is actually frightening. you may have no idea what it's like to have people automatically and thoughtlessly assume something about you that is so important to you, and fundamentally changes how you see the world, and what it feels like to challenge their assumptions and their basic truths. i have no idea if their response is going to be derogatory or violent. coming out isn't something to celebrate, it's a culture that needs to die, and playing into it with these lgbt reveals for characters in video games instead of just telling us who's lgbt, who's straight, and then leaving everyone else as an inbetween to be not assumed in either direction plays into a culture that causes us fear and stress.
  • i would hesitate on making sweeping changes to killers before upping solo information. totem count and a hex that affects anyone should be shown to everyone, plus at the very least the survivor reveal of kindred should be basekit. and then we can talk about how much nurse and spirit need to go down the toilet πŸ˜‚

well i am both so sucks to suck <3 there are sn fans everywhere

i love to see a girlboss winning.

  • my doctor build is pure bp farming with bbq, thrill of the hunt, distressing and then sloppy butcher just 'cause. i need like... 75830257802 blood points to level all my chars, i have like 40 more to level up (bhvr please fix q_q)

my survivor build, however. is quite spicy and fun and i've had a blast running it.

this is on dwight, so that i'm not expected to have the perks i do. i run...

deception, diversion, quick & quiet, and then a 4th perk of my choosing. mostly small game, sometimes spine chill, sometimes empathy, sometimes iron will, etc.

the concept is to drop chase and waste killer time as much as i can. if i'm running empathy, this also saves my teammates quite often. if there's ever a chase near to me, or if i'm running empathy i go and seek it out, i get to run interference. i've had allies jump out of windows on haddonfield and then come running in my direction, so i've used diversion to throw the pebble in the other way. the killer comes out the window, sees the noise notification and immediately goes the wrong way. i've flapped lockers to save myself and to save my teammates. quick & quiet allows me to get into position quickly without giving information to my real position away.

i've long debated what the best 4th perk for my build might be. at any rate, i love the weird tricky perks and i love it when they work, and i know everyone's gonna be like "uhh diversion is obvious". diversion is obvious... if they know you're there. if they know it's you. if it happens for several different people, if i diversion a random corner just to make you go over there when we're not even in a chase, you're probably not even thinking about diversion.

deception hella obvious though. after the first one it basically won't work any more. i need to play around with using deception a couple times, and then legit just jumping into the locker i feinted with Q&Q.

Nah that'd be when she's downed- "My glasses- I can't see without my glasses!"

And if someone heals her up it's "There they are", but if she's picked up by the killer it's "There they- woah!"

i can't take it. please bhvr i need this in my life.

  • the mental image of static blasting on doctor and hearing three different screams and one very loud "ZOINKS, SCOOB!" or "JINKIES!" is sending me to space with laughter

hitting velma and she shouts "MY GLASSES!"

oh my sides. oh i can't handle it.

a lobby of fred, daphne, velma and shaggy all holding flashlights.

a scooby doo kigu for dwight. oh please this would be so funny 🀣 πŸ˜‚

  • that's a normal strategy to ensure you aren't splitting your hooks too much. if you down and hook everyone you see you'll spend too much time and keep people in the game for too long. if you notice it happening then you need to go out of your way to get the killer's attention, otherwise your team's gonna die.

i bet there's a rational explanation for every response to this thread, i'm quite hoping it gets a bunch of traction!

  • doctor is one of the killers that's just... absolutely perfectly balanced right now. the only thing i would change is to make his loading screen tips have more info about how his power works, because he's only balanced in a game where everyone knows how to play around his abilities.

I want to add the ability to break witch traps without flashlights. It's all.

this is all i would change about her. make it a short animation of the survivor smearing their hands over it, maybe 2 seconds disarm time.

i'd also like it if the hag was not notified that her traps got destroyed. it's not noisy and she's so omnipresent that stealth should be the counterplay, but you can't interact with her without revealing yourself.

BT is getting big buff soon so this wont matter anymore

they can buff BT all they like, it doesn't matter because the players in question weren't running it.

  • just disable the perk til it's fixed, or make it a feature if you don't wanna fix it.

  • if it wasn't a flashlight save, and it wasn't a pallet save, and it wasn't decisive strike, and it wasn't trapper stepping in his own traps, then it was probably a hacker.

  • hag is one of three (debatably four, and the debatable one isn't hag) S-tier killers and she needs a buff?

some of you guys need to go up against a good hag sometime.

  • clown's fine though, it's not his fault you don't understand what his yellow bottles make him capable of and he doesn't need a buff specifically to get you to start using something that ends loops and gets hits that he shouldn't deserve otherwise.

  • sounds like a cool thing to do as a stream challenge. finding a meta build by playing whatever you lose to until your build doesn't change any more.

  • it's just a game. it literally doesn't matter what they do. it literally doesn't matter what you do. don't let it get to you.

  • you try to BT save under a bubba's nose, let me know how it goes

  • i once accidentally equipped monstrous shrine instead of noed by accident since their icons are pretty similar and not only did i get two basement hooks that game but they also never finished all the generators so idk guys seems like a pretty good perk

  • but jokes aside, could the devs seriously look at the chat filter? i feel like a whole slew of completely normal words are on it for some reason.

by all means keep the slurs banned, just remove the everyday words.

Proving a point by showcasing videos while using an exploit and one of the most broken addons in the game (alchemist ring: wanna talk about competitive? well alchemist's ring is forbidden on every dbd tournment. Even real competitive blights refuse to use that addon so gj) is a really bold move.

At this point this video just feels like someone being scared of getting robbed of his toy he was never meant to have.

Jflick is disgusting, even more blights jflicking on pub games (i would get using jflick on tournments because you know).

I adapted to jflick but i have 5k hrs on this game, i thought my friend to flick in 20mins and the experience its required to counter jflick is well beyond the ease required to jflick.

As someone said if blight was a weak killer i wouldn't mind jflick to stay in the game, but since blight is far from being weak jflick has to go.

it's a custom lobby against 1 person to show the technique while he's talking about it, and he's recovering faster so he can record his sample footage a bit faster. good god, you need to relax. you're arguing for the removal of something unintended based around the fact that the player is using something intended and arguing that the intended thing shouldn't be used? i always thought visitors from space would introduce themselves formally instead of just trolling forums on the internet.

  • it just means all the time you put into the totem was completely wasted, which is a big win for the killer.

  • each bottle actually contains a small horse figurine

  • i was like "vigil... what perk is this?" then i googled it, realised i've literally never seen anybody run it, and therefore absolutely yes. buff the heck out of this thing.

    But what does "escalation" mean?

Does it mean that while I'm jailed and I do another offense, then it progresses to a thread ban, and if I do another offense while thread banned, it goes to forum banned?

Or does it mean I can do 3 offenses in 2017 and then way later, in 2021 or something, do 1 more offense and suddenly be perma-banned?

this place is moderated by humans who care, so it's definitely not gonna be the last thing.

if you just take your punishment maturely and chill out for a while, i'd bet you'll be okay.

idk what to even to say other than that it's just ironic that you think survivors who try to give killers free hits is toxic. Some people even will give them a kill when they've struggled.

it's literally being explained to you why people hate it and you're like "UMM BUT I HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS??" if you actually cared you might listen and leave.

as survivor, i just leave as soon as i know my teammates are safe. otherwise i feint being in the trial to cause what little confusion i can for those going for hooks. if all 4 people are at my gate i'm just leaving, and i personally hate when people just start teabagging around the exit. for those people i hope this video happens to them

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImdpTENCU5c

  • the solution is to actually shift stress onto the survivors as a group rather than having everyone stressed individually. and the way to do that is to up the killer's pressure globally.

personally i'd go for a collapse that starts at the start of the game with the same rules as the endgame collapse. if anyone's dying or hooked, it's slowed down. if the killer can't actually down anyone in the case of the survivors just being way better, then at the very least, they have way less time to actually work and could still lose anyway.

  • i'm starting to rely on spine chill far too much. it's becoming an issue, tbh. i need to start relying on ally health state changes to determine what the killer's doing and use that to know when to hide so i can get a different terrible crutch perk that i didn't know i needed but suddenly can't play without.

    πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

  • op, this should be reportable. i hope you reported each one of them for bug abuse. one dude running a perk doesn't necessarily mean it was an intentional effort to exploit a glitch, but this is just so blatant.

  • i also personally find myself more entertained by survivor than by killer.

when i'm on survivor and the killer just beats me up and hooks me, the worst i feel is "aw damn"

when i'm on survivor and i get a pallet stun, vault a window and then sneak into a little hiding spot and the killer can't find me, or runs past me just barely not seeing me, the endorphin release i get is just enormous.

when i'm on killer and the survivor just fails to loop me at all, the best i feel is "oh well lol"

when i'm on killer and the survivor escapes me, i feel both awful at the game and stupid for being tricked.

the emotional rollercoaster i'm on as a survivor goes from mid to high, and on killer it's mid to low. so i just don't enjoy killer as much, even though most of the time i'm doing absolutely fine.

  • not a twins main unfortunately, but i wish that charlotte's weapon or head slot cosmetics were changed by her outfit, and then the last slot can be for customising viktor. i want to put him in a little teddy bear outfit. i want to put him in a little sailor suit. i want to put him in little pajamas. he's baby, and everyone should know it.

  • i don't understand the argument that it can't be a perk because it counters certain killers. there's loads of perks that counter certain killers. urban evasion counters pyramid head and hag, does that mean urban evasion has to go? what about spine chill countering myers and ghostface?

i'd like to see a perk that gains tokens somehow, maybe every time a generator is repaired or each time you cleanse a totem. something finite. any time you would be put into the dying state from healthy, you consume a token to become injured with a deep wound instead. a low token cap like 2 would prevent you just stacking a bunch of tokens specifically to beat noed at the end, and maybe the perk goes on cooldown when you return to healthy. it could also exhaust you, but ignore exhaustion the same way adrenaline does.

  • had a nea lead a chase directly to me and try to force me to take a hit for her. it didn't work, i escaped the chase completely unscathed, then went to do a gen on the other side of the map. she got hooked, and i just said to myself "i aint rescuing that"

that's about the extent of it though. i don't want to ruin the match for the other rando survivors just because one of them is useless.

at the end of the game the nea's perks were plunderer's instinct, appraisal, urban evasion and self care. i run empathy and both of the other people had kindred so i could see her urban evade scooting around the perimiter of the map literally all game long. she was just farming for items i guess. didn't feel bad about not unhooking her. (we had a 3e in the end so all's fine - the power of not throwing the game out of spite i guess)

Stalky Boi just released a video where someone did this to him, with a Myers. So he was self-caring in front of a Myers lol

myers is... literally the only killer that this is explicitly a bad move to do it right in front of.

maybe also plague, but doing it to myers is much worse.

i feel like this is a case of, "the risk i took was calculated, but man am i bad at math" lol

  • it's to pressure you more. and it's a legit strategy, not bm.

if the survivor is using literally every spare second they get to heal, they are winning even more time from you than simply being in a chase. it makes you commit. you have to make the decision to see that chase through to the end or drop it NOW, and every second you quibble internally is two seconds you're losing if you give up on the chase later. it amplifies the sunk cost fallacy. if you cannot quickly determine whether a chase is good or bad, then having someone self care in your face is going to compound your problem.

forcing the killer to commit to a bad chase is a winning move. when you see a survivor doing this, analyse what's going on around you. don't just go "oh it's bm", it's so much smarter than just teabagging.

  • tip from someone who plays this game: the first 3 gens are supposed to pop during or shortly after the first chase. if your teammate goes down like a sack of potatoes before you've even touched a generator, then you're losing no matter what the killer does. either you failed to get on a gen, or they failed to chase. either way you're boned.

  • i've felt for a long time that things just cost way too many shards and cells. i would buy more cells if i could get more things with them. there's like 20 characters on both sides and you're gonna charge me Β£5 for some hat for dwight that says DILF on the front? i'm not buying, sorry!

make the shrine better, cheaper, and make the cosmetics super cheap and available for shards as well as cells. i'll buy stuff literally just to support you because i like your game if i feel that i get more than one shirt out of it.

I don't know if I'm tricking someone if I can't hear what they are saying through comms.

so you never trick survivors ever because you don't know if it worked?

    ?!?!!??!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!???!??!?!?!??!?!??!??!?!??!??!??!?

  • @Lord_Tony said:

You can't tell me how to counter comms because there is no counter.

trick one player and they feed false info to the other 3. walk out of los of the survivor you just hooked and then swerve into a different direction, that survivor's just lied to his friends. works best on stealth killers which, by the way, your profile picture is one of them. you play a stealth killer and you don't know how to trick people?

instead of being patient you just kept asking the same question over and over again, then because noone wanted to answer you during your tantrum, you decided you were right. the same way you decided every game in red rank is a swf when it's literally not. you can't just choose how you think things work and then sit there and pout whenever anyone tries to tell you to maybe keep an open mind.

if you were inventive, you'd have figured out how to counter comms yourself. your lack of inventiveness is why you can't stand swf lobbies, because you have Decided how you're going to play a match and anything that stops you playing in that manner needs to be nerfed. you're sitting there pouting.

  • @wildtrapjake said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/244927/any-chance-of-getting-a-replay-system

The big issue for most replay systems is that replays aren't videos. They are realtime re-simulations with models performing the exact same prior actions as took during gameplay.

For a game like dbd, this would be hefty on file storage. Not to mention each update would break past replays.

So I find it unlikely though it would be neat.

i'm not sure how dbd filesizes would be that much worse than, say, overwatch filesizes. dbd has 5 players, overwatch has 12, and overwatch just records every game you do as a replay. maybe not a feature for console users, but does that mean it shouldn't exist at all? i'd love to have it on PC and i'm sure content creators would love to have it for making videos about their particularly good games.

past replays breaking every update is just, it comes with the territory and is expected. i would still love to have them, regardless!

  • some killer mains can't accept that the game actually is balanced around swf. they think 2 kills is a loss and not a normal balanced draw, then complain because someone had a key or whatever. just ignore them.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

People keep saying it's a 1 time use.

I saw a guy abuse it 5 times in 1 match

this dude made a thread complaining about lucky break and doesn't even know what it does or what its limits are

    Untitled Image

  • it absolutely can. if you take lucky break you're probably taking iron will. if you're taking lucky break, you're also bringing a medkit to minimise any wasted time on the clock. two perk slots, no key and no flashlight. you're bringing an exhaustion perk, so you're bringing either dead hard or sprint burst. then you have one perk left.

decisive strike? unbreakable? spine chill, since this is a stealth build? maybe botany knowledge comes into play in a build like this so you can maximise LB value. this is the kind of build that's going to try to exploit the strengths of lucky break rather than just have it and then let it drain out, which isn't actually good use of the perk and therefore any other kind of use of lucky break shouldn't be threatening to you as a killer.

this perk, when properly played around, engenders a playstyle that wants you to take exactly one hit and then give the killer the slip as soon as you can. know this, exploit it - make this survivor flush their time down the toilet trying to maximise value of a perk that isn't getting any value because you're not even chasing them beyond one hit and their whole build falls apart.

what are they gonna do, be all stealthy and then go work on a generator where you can find them easily? bring BBQ and go on the offensive, hell, add sloppy butcher and force them to spend as much possible time not getting any value out of their lynchpin perk with hit & run wraith. legion at base kit counters this perk! so does nurse's calling!

lucky break can be countered, so counter it.
