  • Killer times are insane. Can probably get 2 to 1 games as survivor. So it all evens out really

If that's your issue with it, wouldn't a more elegant solution be to disable DS when you touch a generator? Then you don't have to worry about moonwalking to cheese the mechanics about it, it just straight up disables the second you decide, "I'm not getting tunneled, I'm putting myself back in the game."

Um. This is what many killers have been saying for awhile now. 60 seconds blanket protection is a bit much. If they do anything but run or hide the DS deactivates.

    If we're being serious here:

    Monstrous Shrine:

Your fervant care of the hooks surrounding the map has aroused the interest of The Entity.

Monstrous Shrine is applied to all hooks on the map. Hooked survivors can no longer attempt to escape, and will have their hook states progress 15% faster.

Hooking a survivor prevents entry or exit to the Basement for 20/25/30 seconds, and all survivors in the basement will scream.

[For clarification, that 15% faster hook state progression is equal to 9 seconds, compared to the 9% (or ~5.4 seconds) we have currently.]

    Sounds great to me!

Survivors that enter the basement for the first time are automatically hooked. Basement Bubba suddenly became the best build in the game.

What about every time you hook a survivor the basement is blocked for 30 seconds

I can't wait for my Deja vu to finish first few gens by itself for me and Monstorous shrine to make hooks attacks survivors that come near them.

I never said I was perfect. In fact, I said "even a half decent survivor" can do well without perks. If you're going to misquote me, you have nothing to work with, bud.

What I'm saying is common sense, and it's been proven time and time again by respected members of the community. You don't need perks to loop. You don't need perks to drop a pallet. You don't need perks to speed up the game. I'm sorry that you're that new to dead by daylight where you believe the ludicrous things you believe. The fact is - you're a bad player if you rely on perks to do well. You're not bad if you use them, but if you honestly think SURVIVORS NEED perks to survive, you're so new to the game that you're not worth the keystrokes.

You know you have nothing left to come back with, and you know I'm right, when you say "omg prove it".

    Prove me wrong, kiddo.

Im not good enough to give up all perks but often go in without items.

I float around rank 4-5 and do lose games because i dont bring DS or adrenowin. Usually plunderers, bond, detectives and something else. Usually not even an exhaustion perk.

I also play solo and find the other survivors hurt me more than the killers do. If i played with a group i probably could go perkless

  • Addons should change the way powers work. Like freddys dream pallets. The pallets change how you play as and against him. That should be the point of addons IMHO

  • Behavior can't fix the license if the people who own the license can't fix it first

  • Its the only perk in the game i refuse to unlock.

I assumed you were a straight white dude because your post is an exact example of the perspective that doesn't understand why representation is important even if the media portrayal isn't perfect, deep, and complex, or the context of historical over-representation of straight white dudes.

For that, I apologize. I have no idea if you are actually a straight white guy. But that's exactly the perspective you shared, whatever your background is. Please don't take that as an insult, it's not intended to be. Straight white guys are totally cool, and those who aren't straight white guys but share their perspective are too. We can just call it the "privilege perspective" and not put the background connotation on it. No insult is intended.

What I was trying to say is that it's still important to have media representation even if it's not perfect. So you didn't like Batwoman because you thought her character was boiled down to lesbian and that's it. Well, how ######### complicated does Batwoman have to be, she's a comic book character. You've got 100 different one-note portraits of Batman/Superman/Iron Man/Thor/Spiderman/etc upon etc and I don't see anyone crying about how "ugh, Batman, right - it's allll about his privileged hetero masculinity amirite?" Yet the moment a hero turns gay or a woman or black, that's the big knock - "fine he/she's gay/female/black. We get it already stop shoving it down our throats." Sometimes, they're going to do it badly and have to be able to fail in the same ways that cisgendered media is allowed to fail.

When I said "people like you," I was only referring to people who share your perspective, which is fairly common. People like you who don't understand (or disagree) that representation at a basic level is important have plenty of non-representative media to fall back on. People like you who don't understand why it is a big deal that Black Panther is black and why that makes it a "better" movie aren't suffering because of the effort at diversity or that praise because of it.

Do you see what I mean? It's not that you can't see other points of view or that you're a jerk - far from it and I'm sorry that's the impression I left you with. It's that you're assigning the problem with these things as a result of their representative diversity, not that they're bad for the same reasons straight white guy media can be bad. Batwoman isn't very good. But it's not bad because she's a lesbian it's bad because it's poorly written and doesn't give the character(s) enough depth. Just like literally any other bad superhero show/comic/movie.

Lol. We are actually agreeing. Your last paragraph is exactly what im trying to say. There is nothing wrong with inclusion and representation. The issue that I and the vast majority (my opinion) of people have isnt the representation. Its the representation above everything else.

Why have Batman, superman, Spiderman, wonder woman, captain America, Thor etc been around so long? Because behind the powers. Behind the costumes, they are human. And yes there have been poorly made books and stories with all of them. And if you look at sales and ratings, those stories make less money.

With everyone of those characters, you can change gender, sexuality, race and the core of those characters dont change. They are still the same characters. THAT'S what makes a great character.

Kate Kane in the comicbooks was a lesbian. She was a well received character if im not mistaken. Kate Kane in her own show sucked. Why? Because the writers decided that the biggest and most important thing about her, wasnt her character. Wasnt her journey. Wasnt her flaws or weaknesses. It was she was lesbian. With that show, change the fact that shes lesbian and that character doesnt exist.

You are right. Im not lesbian. I dont look at characters and say hey theres a straight/gay/lesbian/whatever and decide whether i like that character or not. The story. The person. The whole of a story is what i like.

What i want, (and i beleive almost everybody else wants) is story with representation. NOT represntation above story.

Does any of this make sense?

  • @JustCats said:

@csandman1977 This isn't offensive but I do think you are considerably exaggerating. These new characters aren't any more or less shallow than the previous ones (in general, anyway - bad writing does exist of course) they just have personality traits and characterizations that are unfamiliar and unrelatable to you, so they feel shallow and you don't get the jokes.

Remember the first time you saw a movie that starred a straight white guy? For most people, that would be the first time they saw a movie and has pretty much been every movie since. For a white guy audience, there are so many assumptions and characterizations that don't have to be written because you already share that experience.

Black Panther may not have been the greatest superhero movie for you. But it was the first Marvel movie to star a non-white superhero and that does make a difference to a viewer who does not have "straight white guy" as their life experience when watching the movie. All of those unwritten and unconscious assumptions and characterizations were now open and available for a wider audience to appreciate. Yes, for you - just the same old same old Marvel stuff. But that's because every other Marvel movie was made for you. For people not like you, the vast majority of movies period might seem shallow, unfunny, or stale - just another show/game/movie about a white guy with straight white guy problems.

The reason it seems like these things are just about being a lesbian or being a woman or being black is because for you that's the thing that seems out of place.

Starting off. Don't presume to know what i am. Labeling people by opinion is not right. And often is completely wrong. Like when Joe Biden basically told people that if they voted for Trump, they weren't black. You have zero understanding of my thoughts on anything but this one post and my thoughts on DBD.

Next and these are in order of your points, Batwoman, and i will focus on this one due to its the most recent and aggregius example. Her character simply put was nothing more than her being lesbian. There was zero character development. The supporting cast was there to basically prop up Kate and tell her she had no flaws. Why? Because she was nothing more than a prop the writers used to idolize their beliefs. She wasn't 3 dimensional. She was lesbian girl power and nothing more. And no. I dont relate to a character when their is nothing to that character that is possible to relate to. For comparison lets look at Magna from walking dead. Shes lesbian. But her character while not focused on very much, shows growth, and history and yes shes lesbian but she is much more than just lesbian. Shes human. Not saying lesbians arent human. Dont take that out of context.

Movies. I dont watch many movies. But when i do I watch for the story. I skip all but the most mild of sex scenes. (Anything more than kissing i turn off) In my youth i was different of course. But the lesbian scenes always piqued my interest make of that what you will. Now when i watch a TV show, its for the story and the characters. I dont have to relate to a character to enjoy them. Raymond Reddington. One of the best characters on TV. Also going back to walking dead. Magna. Yumiko. Aaron. All gay. All good characters. Why? Because even though they are gay, they are fully realized characters. People are more than their sexuality. Take away those characters' sexuality and they are still whole people. Take away Kate kanes sexuality and she has nothing left. That is the difference.

Black panther. You are correct. I Didnt find it to be the best movie ever. My opinion. Others may disagree. What it wasn't was the first marvel movie starring a black character. Blade came before it. I would say in my opinion Blade is better. I enjoyed it more. Black Panther was more political. I watch movies for entertainment not politics. Dont get me wrong, I have nothing bad to say about it. My problem was with the hate that people received because they Didnt agree with the hype.

And while we are on the topic, marvel movies werent made for me. If they were, they never would have been made. Did i enjoy them? Sure. Mostly. Doctor Strange sucked. But the others were good. Some were really good. Why were they good? Because they dealt with entertainment. There goal was to entertain people and make money. And they did.

And lastly I will address the insults. People like me? What does that mean? Because I will tell you this right now. I dont give a rats ass what color someone is. What gender they are. What they choose to do with their bodies. None of that is how I choose to label people. Not how I choose who i like or not. I never insulted anyone. All i did was attempt to shed some light on a topic in an attempt to open discourse.

But you assume im a straight white male, screaming from the rafters of my privileged mansion. That I refuse to see anyone elses point of view. If you knew me you would know how wrong you are. Instead you see my opinion that doesnt match yours so im just a ciswhite male whos opinion is wrong because Im a bigot and a -phobe.

  • Going to try to make a point that has nothing to do with whether or not inclusiveness is good or bad.

In real life people are made up of their experiences. Everything that a person experiences from the moment they are born make them who they are. Real life people have a lifetime of experience to define them.

Created media like movies and games and television are completely different. These characters come onto the screen with their history already written (or not) and are introduced to the audience as is. Writers have to determine how to get the audience to like or dislike a character very quickly.

What has been happening in the last few years, is that writers have been relying on shallow personality traits rather than story. Batwomans whole deal was she was lesbian. It was such a huge part of her character, the actress playing makebeleive also had to be lesbian. The character had zero redeeming qualities. Had no sense of right or wrong. No hero journey throughout the series. She was gay. She was proud. You had to accept it. Many many Didnt. Not because she was lesbian, but because Thats all she was. Nothing else.

Ghostbusters remake. They were women. Thor was an idiot. That was the whole movie. It wasnt funny. They took a classic movie wrote a scrappy script. Made the lead characters women. And expected everyone to love it because of the brand name.

Black Panther. Was touted as the greatest film of all time. The first black superhero solo movie. It was neither great nor the first. It was a good movie. But it was sold as this amazing theatrical release and the main point. Wasnt story. Wasnt characterization. It was that he was black.

TLOU2. From what i understand, they retconned the relationship between Joel and ellie. Which the ending of 1 should have been the plot of 2. Between Joel and Ellie. Not someone else. Yes ellie was gay in the first dlc. No one cares about that. Why? Because she was a fully realized character and the whole of her being wasnt that she was lesbian. She felt like a person.

There are so many more examples. Look at the comic book industry. Its barely holding on. Mainly because they hired for inclusion rather than talent and the stories and characters are nothing more than shells of what they were.

I think what people are afraid of happening, is that DBD is going to become a game full of characters with no story other than their skin color, their sexuality, their gender, Instead of giving us just enough information to flesh out a personality and story in our minds.

Hope this doesnt offend as words are not my strong suit.

This also unfortunately includes Keyxs and Mori's. Still extremely unfun though to lose to either.

I like going against moris. It forces me to improve or die. I dont much care for getting morid off first hook 3 minutes into a game, but it happens. I try not to get upset. Unless im working on a challenge.

As for keys, my only complaint is when they show up in a chest and ruin a tense game. Like when, you'd get a lobby full of toolboxes prenerf, and they 3 gen'd themselves. You kill someone and the game ends because rn-jesus decided to perform a miracle. But someone brings a key in amd gets hatch, thats on me. I knew it was there. I was prepared for it.

Better question: why do so many people who play this game seem desperate to assume the victim role? Like they think the devs are biased against their “group” and they’re an oppressed minority, when in reality it’s just an asymmetrical game so it’s impossible for it to be balanced 1:1 for both roles in every single respect.

Look at the world around us! Victimhood is the norm. If you arent a victim then you are the problem.

You see it in these forums every day.

  • So the answer to the OP is that, piggy is as good as you make her.

Which can be said for every killer. There isnt a bad killer on the roster in the hands of a player that has taken the time to use them and learn them.

For instance, nurse is almost always top of the list. For me shes the bottom because i havent put the time in. Nor do i want to. Oni is another one people say is really good, but i cant do anything woth him.

Clown is almost always in a toss up between worst or second worst (prebuff) and i find him one of the better killers on my roster.

Every killer can play against every survivor team. Its just that some killers do so easier than others.

How good is pig? That really all depends on how good YOU make her.

I love how you only Pick NOED out of all the stuff i mentiones. It’s not about NOED it’s about people bringing in their most toxic builds and do everything in their power to prevent survivors from getting crowns. I am not asking killers to let me go, but at least stop playing so god damn sweaty and purposly doing everything they can to be as toxic as possible. I have had several killers carrying me to a crown, dropping me on the Ground right in front of it, waiting till the crown dissapears and then carrying me to a hook or mori me right next to a crown. I don’t mind killers playing like they normally would, putting up a fair fight, but this is just too much....

Ive hd a killer slug me. Everyone else got out. Puck me up and drop me next to the gate and let me leave.

Sorry your experience has been worse, but saying ALL killers suck for playing the game is asinine.

    Want the crowns? Earn them.

I can`t even count the amount of matches I have played during this event and not ONCE have a killer let me or any of my teammates go. It’s tunneling, camping, bleeding out, Mori, NOED, Iri hatches ect. The toxiticy during this event is insane.

So not letting survivors go is now considered toxic? Really?

  • Day of dead Julie is very nice

  • For every game you get tunneled and morid, how many did the killer 0k? How many did you escape? How many haddonfield or ormond offerings were used?

One bad game and its crying on the forums. Think about your career playing this game and tell me how often this really ever happens.

Like someone said Umbra has 1000 ebony on huntress alone. If killers really wanted to, survivors would NEVER escape. Take the loss and move on.

  • How long does this run for? Im at the beach and internet sucks too bad to play. Hoping its still active next week?

  • survivors have more items in the bloodweb then any 1 killer. 23 items not counting add ons.

Some killers like bubba and Billy dont have pink addons. Huntress only has one. That means that if a pink item spawns the chances are greater that it will be a mori.

Personally i wish all survivors shared their item pool. So leveling someone to unlock perks wasnt such a waste of BP.

  • Mori shouldn't work with cages. I mean, he has a built in mori already so he really doesnt need it.

Keeping everything else seperate is fine. It makes him the most unique killer in the game.

Also, he is going to hook people. Not everyone gets sent to cages. Perks are less powerful against/for him but not completely useless.

Isn't he literally wearing a face over his own because he's fugly or something?

I would definitely complain and call the police if I saw anyone wearing an Obama mask. I've played Payday 2, I'm not risking being a civilian casualty because someone can't aim straight. Dammit, Tom, it's not that complicated! Don't shoot the civvies!

In all seriousness, I get that some people do it because they actively want to be racist. When they confirm that's their intention, you just hit the report button and wave goodbye to them. Problem solved.

People dont understand that context matters!

I mean, look at aunt Jemima syrup. They are going to change it because its racially insensitive or some #########. Its a picture of someones grandmother. How is that insensitive? I mean even if it was the preferred maple syrup of white supremacists, how is a bottle of syrup racist?

People that want to be the victim i guess see it everywhere? I dont know.

  • @Orion said:

Wow, there are actually people saying this who don't appear to be trolling/baiting. I'm honestly surprised.

Still, if you read the threads (or at least the one you actually linked to from all the way back in 2018), the vast majority of people are disagreeing with the OP. I skimmed through it a bit and I think I saw maybe a handful of people either agreeing outright or being unsure about the subject. That's certainly not "many people" and doesn't warrant all the threads that come up on the subject.

There are more threads and comments asking for the Wraith to not be invisible, just for the record, yet nobody makes a big deal out of that.

I tried to reason with the OP in one of those posts. He was dead set that it was blackface and racist.

Some people just wont change their minds.

I see it as hes wearing a mask. Nobody would complain (I hope) if they saw a white person wearing an Obama mask.

Now if leatherface took out some shoepolish and painted his face i would see the point. But a mask? No way.

  • Give it time. Many pyramid heads are going to stop using cages.

    1 BBQ. Bloodpoints are important.

    2 Pop. Best slowdown perk.

3 his mori. His built in mori needs the survivir to be tormented. Getting rescued from a cage removes torment. Hooking people keeps them tormented.

The cage is good at certain points in the game. The hook is good for most of the game.

  • I was playing as pyramid head and almost had to circle the upper level of the school to catch up to someone. He definitely doesn't move faster than anyone else

Plauge: it doesn't matter whether I'm playing Min or Yui and it's probably not going to matter when I'm playing Cheryl I hate the sound of the survivors puking it's annoying as hell.

If I don't want a super buff the plague I'm stuck listening to for most if not all all of the game. that is usually a reason why when the last gen is popped or when we entered the clear stalemate I'm usually the first person who cleanses

    Survivor:

Claudette: ever since Ochido (yeah even now) specific type of Claudette player who goes out of their way to be toxic without realising their favourite YouTuber in question usually goes up against the baby killers and most if not all of their stuff doesn't work against killers who at least moderately know what they're doing.

It's annoying as a fellow survivor because these people usually get down incredibly quickly. It's annoying as a killer that you guys honestly think I'm stupid enough to fall for the crouched by the locker in killer shack strategy. You insulted my intelligence by attempting it and you insulted your own intelligence by thinking it would work.

Nancy: I just hate Nancy as a character in Stranger things doesn't really matter what season she is portrayed in she always manages to be the worst character in that season. Makes me really wish we got Robin instead also any time I encounter a Nancy I usually put on a Mori just so I can at least get some justice for Barb.

Meg: the amount of Meg heads I have encountered as a survivor even at red ranks is absolutely ridiculous.

Gets on gen with you blows it up immediately runs away. ( which is super annoying because I normally run a lone wolf build so I usually have technician so not only did you screw over my perk you screwed me over as well)

The survivor most guilty of walking to the hook when you're about to hit second stage instead of just running to save you

She is also the survivor that has collectively farmed me the most then proceeded to blame the killer for tunneling if I asked them why they farmed me

Never thought about that but a Robin legendary skin would he awesome. Plus, she only had 1 outfit so the scoops ahoy memes would be everywhere! That and robin really is pretty freaking cool!

Usually I don't die much on survivor side, personally. Unless a killer goes out of their way to tunnel me. Which -does- happen quite a bit. Or Myers xD I disagree with your latter statement, though; some SWF groups dedicate themselves to trolling killers. As per Youtube shows quite clearly. Losing a game can be fun, actually. When you know you're beat because someone is better than you... can be really funny, actually.

I've laughed wholeheartedly at Spirits mori-ing me or grilling me perfectly; they played a clean, overpowering game! Or no-K game because they've outsmarted me, great!

But my point is: why bully.

    10000000% agree!

  • Learned this from my boss, life is 10 peecentt what happens to you and 90 percent what you make of it. Toxicity as well as most things in life only get to you in you let them. Had to learn that for this game. Especially as killer.
