This video explains a lot of the situations in dbd. Most arguments can be shut down if people saw the other sides perspective. When I hook someone and leave. If I don't find anyone by the time the save was made I go back to the hook because it's the only information I got at the moment. If I don't see the rescuer but I see a blood trail, guess what, I'm going after the injured person because that's the only person I see. I can't just leave them alone because that's detrimental to my objective. Vice Versa, if I'm injured and a healthy survivor is healing me. If the killer see's us both it's the best course of action to go after me. I know it, he knows it, yet the community has this idea that if your pulled off the hook the killer shouldn't hit you for 60 seconds. Hardly anyone on this game asks "In that moment wouldn't I have done the same?"

Then you get those entitled mains who say "No, I would have followed the survivors rule book for killers and never ever hurt a survivor!"

This. Most people just can't or won't see situations from multiple angles. However, i disagree with needing to change borrowed time. Except to change it where you get the benefit from being unhooked by solo q hook farmers.

  • Im getting good killers now, just really bad teammates. Like i unhooked 2 in basement and ran. Killer wasnt around. They stayed to heal. In basement. They both died.

Am I the only one fine with Adrenaline and DS?

    Yes. Lol.

I can see spine chill being a crutch perk. I myself am attempting wean myself off it. Its so useful against every killer. Not just stealth.

Whispers too. For me they are crutches that allow me to play without developing fundamental gameplay ability

If you are going to run a hex build you need to run Hex: Thrill of the Hunt to make the others stronger and give you notifications. These builds get even stronger on killers like Hag, Trapper, and Demo. I used to do:

    Hex: TotH

    Hex: Ruin

    Hex: Devour Hope

    Hex: Huntress Lullaby

It forces two totems done to be able to do gens unless they are really good.

I prefer retribution to TOH. I dont play totem defence. Unless maybe if I have 4 stacks on devour and its the last one left. The aura read from retribution has shortened chases and even revealed an immersed survivor a time or two allowing me to pressure off of survivors cleansing totems.

Just going to post these stats here that were reported last year. Regardless if it's brand new players or seasoned vets, Freddy still comes out on top as the Strongest Killer, which he is.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/stats-november-2019

Also, Lullaby is a prime example. Because it is devastating at Red Ranks because before MMR, I went against Rank 1-4 as a Rank 1 and when the hex wasn't immediately removed, it was extremely effective. Because even if they could hit those skill checks, they are too focused looking out for the next one and not their surroundings. The hex perks themselves do not need buffs. They are extremely good on their own without synergy which it what makes them great.

People understand how potent Lullaby is because that's usually the top 3 perks to immediately get removed along with DH and NOED. If people HAPPEN to see Ruin or Third Seal, they'll remove it of course. But they won't go out of their way to find it when it's a fast paced game and they don't have a lot of time.

This. I compare hex perks to DS. What makes DS so powerful is that it exists. Killers have to play around an obsession whether DS is there or not.

Running a hex build means that survivors have to be wary. Is this lit totem ruin or haunted grounds? I'm blind but is it worth triggering retribution and reveal my entite team? Yes some hex perks are stronger than others, but stacking them can not only be effective but also cause multiple survivors to go on time wasting totem hunts. Especially early game with ruin

not really hex builds are very map and rng dependent if you get something like midwitch or lerys with good rng it's worth it but if you get crotus with bad rng it'll be out in the open and gone in the beginning of the match

    @Enlyne said:

No they're really not, in my opinion.

They're based on different things, spawn, survivor spawns, map chosen and utility.

For the most part most hex totems don't do many game changing points that allow the killer to turn the match to their favor, difference being if you for instance get Devour to 5 tokens (somehow).

Survivors may just spawn right next to your totem or its surroundings making it so easy to be seen, if they're in a SWF comms, this becomes even impossible to avoid being cleansed.

Haunted grounds is a gamble, it can be broken at the best moment, or generally at the worst and now you're left without another perk.

You see, that's the issue with those perks, they rely on survivors either cleansing, or not cleansing them and in what moment it happens, they're bad builds overall because of that.

    @MegaWaffle said:

The issue with Hex perks is how unpredictable their success can be.

You either have amazing RNG with totem/hex spawns and you have some time to get value from your hex totems OR the totems are out in the open/survivor spawn right on top of them.

Because things are so inconsistent its not worth running Hex perks. A build that has consistently decent results will net you an overall better score than a build that fluctuates wildly.

    @Blueberry said:

Hex perks in generally are quite weak and not worth running.

The only hex that's currently worth being a Hex imo is DH. It's actually high risk/high reward. Almost all the other hex's are high risk/low-average reward.

Most their effects aren't good enough on top of totem spawns still being god awful years later.

Yeah they'll seem effective at lower ranks where people don't know what they're doing, but so will anything at that stage.

I always believed all of that myself. Just saying that even vs all 4 red ranks it worked very well.

  • I use devour hope all the time. I dont camp the hook. I dont intentionally tunnel. If im close to hook and dont know where people are then yes im going back to the hook.

Devour hope is the perfect hex totem. All or nothing.

Its my favorite perk in the game, and as a solo survivor i do get into situations where nobody is doing totems and the perk destroys us. Oh well. One bad game.

Its not a prevelant perk by any means. But it is fun. Balanced. And a good thing for the game.

  • Went against a trapper who was obviously new. Had one hook all game. So i messeged him. Gg matchmaking sucks lol

From there got into a long conversation about the game. Answered his questions. Pointed out things he didn't know. He thanked me and i felt better. Im never toxic and almost always send a gg afterwards. Just hope he remembers that. Killer is a long hard road to learn lol

  • Almost every game i played this weekend paired me with a one perk baby killer. I know it doesn't mean anything, but I am somehow rank 4 and have been playing half asleep.

Killer games are the opposite mostly. Im a midtier killer and have gotten almost all highrank good players

  • Hex: Devour Hope - Hex: Please Be Hidden Well So I Don't Lose All Hope

Hex: Huntress Lullaby - Hex: Go Back To Sleep Potatoes

Decisive Strike - Go Ahead...I Dare You!

Borrowed Time - Farming Simulator 3000

Slippery Meat - Useless (name and description)

BBQ and Chili - Bloodpoints and What's An Aura?

  • Unless its a master challenge you dont and shouldn't finish every challenge in one shot. You have 2 weeks to complete all the challenge. Instead of rushing through the challenge, throwing the game playing speedy Gonzalez, play normal. It will take you a little longer, but the extra games you play will help in the end when you have to grind the last few rift levels.

Again, its not the challenges, devs or the game Thats toxic, its the playerbase. Like always.

  • @Hoodied said:

in my honest opinion, that map needs to be completely reworked, its not even the auras fault the map is bloody awful

I actually like the map. Better than the swamp. All of them. Its just nearly unplayable at the moment.

  • One farmed until i killed her and the other escaped. Reported the the one who escaped

  • Never had this happen to me lol

  • I have messeges of them saying they will only play if i farm with them

  • On ps4

  • They dont need to be equal at all. 4 survivors 1 killer. If all the perks were equal strength, then the 16 survivor perks would be too unfair for killers 4 perks to deal with

  • Give him the ability to ignore windows and dropped pallets while cloaked. Even if its on a cool down.

  • @Terr0rwrist said:

Good lord, what horrid offense have you committed sir?

He left the trial without tbagging the killer and then messeged good game in post game chat. Lack of toxicity is not allowed by the entity!

  • Survivors sticking to gens and not wasting time doing anything else is the equivalent of a killer tunneling someone out of the game.

Survivors who gen rush get next to no bps. Go in do the gens and leave. 12k at end game maybe?

Killers who tunnel usually end up losing the game and walk away with very little to show for it.

If survivors want to rush gens, killer is pretty much screwed against decent survivors.

If killer wants someone out of a game, that person is pretty much screwed. Be thankful that the majority of killers dont actually tunnel people out eveey game.

  • Dont take this the wrong way, but the problem could very well be on your end. I don't know much about pc's but i know a little bit about cell phones.

In my experience, even though i an an android user, apple products offer better, less bugged, experiences. All due to having 1 company design and manufacture their equipment. All there phones are the same. In terms of apps, you have the app store. Where everything is looked at. Everything is built for the one iteration of OS.

For android and PC you have a million different companies building a million different computers, programming them a million different ways. You download things in you normal usage, programs that can interfere with other programs. For instance a coworker downloaded an app from the playstore and soon after found his gallery wiped.

What im saying is for bugs the devs cant reproduce, it seems like am ishyou, not ishthem.

The description does not say that you need to escape either. The way the challenge is written it does not matter if you escape or not. It would say something like "... and then escape.". Consider making a bug report here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

    Survive means dont die?

  • Yui or ace just because they are less popular. I switch between zarina, bill, and Adam.

  • When interacting with the killer i will do 2 slow crouches. Dont want a killer thats being nice to me to think im being a jerk.

Survivor interaction I go full on dance party

  • @George_Soros said:

Let me put it this way: against Clown, if survivors want to win, they'll win. Sad, but true, unless they are memeing around or they're complete and utter potatoes, Clown has nothing to stop genrush.

Take it from a former Clown main.

I refuse to agree with you just for your name!

  • Played 3 games with a hex perk. I Didnt know where my totem was at any point during those 3 games. I like the design of the new auras. And i get they are trying to show distance with them, but playing on yamaoka the killer was basically running knockout due to not being able to see where survivors were downed. (No killer wasnt using knockout)

  • Learned its a like 3 and a half seconds. Basically he swings right-left-right-left. As hes coming back to the left hit the button. Without add ons that is. Hes going to he another killer where his add ons mess with muscle memory

  • Phased out after awhile. But, leatherface was badly in need of something. He was horrible in the hands of someone who was new or not very good with the killer role.

Spirit. Use spine chill. Adapt. Why do people enjoy new killers? Because they change the game. I personally love playing against nurse and freddy and spirit as it forces me to change the way i play. Makes me think. Spirit can be beaten you just have to play smarter. (And yes i lose to her sometimes too)

This game does not favor killer. Its controlled by the survivors with most killers needing to play reactively. Its been Proven many times that survivors who focus gens above anything else, almost never fail to escape.

Now we arent talking the elite 1% of killers. Some people are just amazing at that role and it takes a fully commited organized group to stand a chance. But thats why things are balanced around the average player.

Problem is there IS a skill gap between average survivor and average killer.

  • @ProfoundEnding said:

I will forever bump this thread until the problem is fixed. My boyfriend is colorblind and if it's in a state where normal sighted people can't see the auras, then this is a major issue.

I mean, i give the devs a lot of slack as i wouldnt even know where to begin to design much less balance this game.

But with all the adjustments that could have been made. With all the bugs that people have been begging to be fixed. They changed auras?

Im on these forums just about every day multiple times on those days. I have never read a post from either side indicating that auras needed changing.

Strength of perks that show auras not withstanding. There was zero reason for this. I had to blow that image up to even see that a person was downed. Crazy

I am going to preface this by saying that I have been playing this game on console since late 2016/early 2017, I have been watching content creators on both sides ever since and I also play both sides myself.

I think its only fair to praise as well if I am going criticise. I like the fact that BHVR have several community staff within their team, you only have to look at games like COD where their interaction is close to nil. Its great that we can chat with the community team on this and other platforms, but I feel a lot of the times our feedback doesn't go beyond them to those making the decisions or it seems to fall on deaf ears a lot.

I am not going to go into the issues that plague both sides, because I feel that this forum is really divided, its rare to see someone with balanced arguments - usually its people arguing changes for one side without consider what it does to the other. So adding anything for one side will trigger the other and I want to avoid that.

You can also look at the content creators we have on this forum @GoodBoyKaru @SpaceCoconut @ScottJund (sorry if I missed any others).

I watched Space Coconut's video about the recent changes and couldn't find myself disagreeing with him. Scott has recently made several good videos about issues within the game and community for both sides. There are plenty of other content creators who echo the same sentiment.

Some of these issues have been in the game for years, so why aren't the devs engaging with the us about them. All we keep getting are the surveys and I am yet to see anything substantial come out of them or we have Q&As where the Devs seem generally dismissive or say something along the lines that we will look into when we can (and I know how that goes).

Why does game health feel secondary to cosmetics and chapters? I know the business wants to make money and their is nothing wrong with that but surely issues like bugs and gameplay issues should be at the forefront.

Why do we not have more community driven content in the game (not just cosmetics)? Why can't we vote for a non licensed killer/survivor or have community driven events?

I want to be excited about the direction this game is heading in and I want this community to be more cohesive. So please keep the chat civil and tell me what more do you think needs to be done to this game to get it to a better place?

[Please be general in your answers]

Actually, voting on a chapter theme once or twice a year would be awesome! And giving people choices would definitly be a win win for the devs. The popularity if the cosmetic contest proves that.

  • They will never give out info that hasnt been mostly finalized. Think about the forums every time they announce something. It turns into a warzone of people bashing the devs cause they dont like the idea, or survivors vs killers, or a million thats it i quit posts.

And even if they say, hey, we are working on Jason and we think there is a good shot at him coming in. People take that as, OMG jason coming next chapter. Then when the chapter gets announced the flame wars begin.

While i think money is the priority for any business, you dont make money by not trying to make the best product you can. The Devs seem to play and love this game. Give them a little credit that they dont want to play a bad game.

If she was only amazing at Huntress. But she destroys pretty much with any Killer, even as Hag even though she hates Hag.

Never watched her stream. Only the few youtube videos she posts. Guess i don't get the full experience

  • Zarina - because i had like 5 or 6 escapes in a row with 1 perk when i started playing her. Took it as a sign. Hate her cosmetics though and her prestige outfits suck so.....

Bill - because all the blood from zarinas clothes went to him. And a grizzled old war vet is my cup of tea.

Adam- because well i think its a contest of least played survivor between him and Quentin and i just cant being myself to play quentin lol

    Runners up, kate and yui.

(Hate Jane and Laurie. Just thought id share)

  • Ive given up looking at rank. Im rank 6 at the moment and in the last 20 games or so havent gotten a killer higher than 16. Mostly 18 - 20

  • From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Zarina or Zarrina (Persian: زرّینه) is a female Persian given name. It means golden in the Persian language. It comes from the root zar (زر) which means gold. It is also spelled as Zarrineh or Zareena

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/175190/giving-hatch

My only problem is it's usually the potato Blendette that hides all game and ends up being the last survivor that gets the hatch.

    Blendettes never get hatch intentionally!

I usually hook last person if they struggle. Although one time i had a meg i think. We walked around all of pale rose with her on my shoulder looking for hatch. After about 3 or 4 minutes i just hooked her and apologized for wasting her time. But i swear hatch didnt spawn!

  • I go the opposite way. Mmr blessed me with a very new survivor. Was playing legion and guy went down 3 times for not mending. I stopped playing and messeged him that he needed to mend. He said he didn't know that. He ended up bleeding out because he was on death hook and I felt bad. His team never went to get him.

He appreciated my advice. So I felt good about that game.

That's your experience, you're not even 1% of the playerbase.

You can't claim killers are most of the time angels, when that's just not true, both sides have the same level of toxicity, you can't claim survivors/killer are more toxic, cause that's a flat out lie.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bias

And I dont know ######### you're talking about, "Bias is disproportionate weight in favor of or against an idea or thing, usually in a way that is closed-minded, prejudicial, or unfair."

You can play both sides, but I know a lot of streamers/gamers that play both sides, yet they still favor they're favorite side cause they're

    B I A S E D.

Btw when you have any proof that you play both sides, we can discuss that.

"I think you are misconstruing what I am saying. I am not saying he was toxic. All I said was that we saw none of the rest of the match and that they could have been toxic towards him, we have no idea. That is a true statement. I also never said his behavior was fine, I said it was indeed toxic."

I can agree with you on that, OP should post the entire game, but saying most killers are angels is just a biased statement.

Actually, there are more survivors that play than killer so yes, there are more 'toxic' survivors. Law of averages.

Plus to determine what defines toxicity we really need to define toxic.

For killer, smacking someone repeatedly on the hook i feel is toxic. Purposely letting people bleedout is toxic. And bodyblocking for the whole game (which is bannable) is toxic. Nothing else. Yet some find moris and tunneling toxic. Or camping. Or certain perks, you get the idea.

By my definition of toxic i see an incredibly low number of toxic killers.

Dancing in exit gates waiting for killer, or constantly fast vaulting a window or jumping in and out of lockers to get the killer to come watch you dance in exit gates to me is toxic. Just because theres no reason for it but to brag about the ggez. Clicky Clicky and tbagging pallets is annoying. But can be explained away as trying to get and keep the killers attention. Also refusing to work towards the objective and hiding all game is bannable and after 5 or 10 minutes increases the toxicity scale.

I see dancers in just about every game where the killer loses.

So by my logic, yes there are more toxic survivors than killers

  • Solo que isnt the worst thing in the world.

  • @teamdehn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470138#Comment_1470138

Why isn't it fair for the solo? They are benefiting from having an swf with comms on their team. The purpose of the perk slot is to compensate for the vast amount of information comms give the swf. You cant buff solo survivors without also buffing swf a little. The best way to balance outside comms is to have it cost them a little. The swf isn't really losing a perk slot because that slot would have been used for an aura read if there wasnt comms

I missread what you said. I thought you meant swf are hindered meaning they have reduced action speed. That wouldnt be fair for the solos.

What you actually wrote makes sense. I just think increasing the power if solos makes comms not mean as much. They can then be used for what everybody seems to think they are used for, which is just talking to friends about water cooler topics.

When that is done then killers can be adjusted or buffed as well.

  • @teamdehn said:

Nah instead of just giving away free perk slots to all survivors because of outside comms. Make it so queuing swf requires a universal perk called fellowship. This perk Grant's you the ability force the entity to bring you into the realm together. This way the swf on comms is hindered a little bit for all of the free information they get from third party programs.

But that isnt fair for the solo playing with them. Buff everyone then you can look at killers to see what you can do at that point

  • 1) map wide bond does just about the same thing.

    2) borrowed time makes stupid people even stupider. It should apply to yourself.

    3) i agree with this but would be alright if it came with a perk like small game. Hex perks are already so weak on many maps. Totem counter default would make them completely irrelevant

What survivor nerf would you like to get reversed if i may ask?

Obviously the exhaustion Nerf or the being able to heal during killer attack cool down Nerf. Killer sided Devs yeesh

  • I like it. For survivor it fits my stealthy playstyle. Havent played it much for killer though so i have no opinion there

  • Well my last game last night was against a plague. She got 2 kills. Only because i screwed up and the rank 20 survivirs left me to die on hook. But it got the 2 kill 2 escape ratio right i guess

  • I dont play as often as i would like so mmr seems to think Im new. Killers i get are so bad that it feels like most of them have never played the game. And the survivors i get matched with as a solo are rediculous. When i got to green ranks finally after getting xbox i was so relieved that i could play a normal game. I feel like i am back to rank 20. Maybe my mmr will catch up soon? But when you die on first hook how do you improve?

  • Alert gives too much info to be honest. Should just be a noise notification not aura. In my opinion. It is a good perk though. Just one i usually forget about.

  • 6/10. You weren't told to die or for your family to get cancer. This just wasn't very entertaining salt to be fair. 😜

  • They are both good and both have ups and downs. I use whispers. But i have used discordance.

Its the same as the bond/empathy debate. Matter of preference

  • Saw this in a video from someone, cant remember their name and now its a life mission to repeat.

DS stun into a head on stun into a pallet stun. As killer i would have to just remove that player from the game afterwards and as survivor i would expect it and be totally fine with it.
