Thanks for letting me know, I took a long break from this game and it is still plagued with the same issues.

then don't bring 2+ toolboxes or keys galore, bad enough ruin is nerfed we don't need toolboxes on top of it, heck because of the ruin change and how I know survivor Q times are at an all time high, if I suspect SWF I will dodge to be like "back to the Q with you" because the more survivors wait, they either quite, play killer and get bullied, then come to the forums and complain. then either BHVR will do 1 of 2 things
- make killer AI so that killers wont need to be buffed ever and they can just use AI killers in their games
- buff killers/ change the game to be bearable again even though new ruin is trash
we warned you of the consequences of what would happen if ruin was nerfed, don't be mad at killers, be mad at BHVR for making this change
Considering this is BHVR, they are more likely to remove the pre-game lobby (to prevent lobby dodging) than do anything else.

Yo I'm a newly prestiged doctor and I need a secondary killer to use but I dont want to use any of the free killers so what is a good killer for ps4 (also what are good perks for tha tag killer
For the PS4 I would suggest Pyramid head or Oni if you want more of a challenge (skill wise) whilst still being a threat.
-
If you know how to play against small terror radius killers (or M&A) then tinkerer isn't much of an issue. It should only catch you off guard the first time - or just use spine chill.
-
Have you seen Dragonball? Same deal here.
-
They are stuck in a cycle - same thing every few months (SSDD). There is little to no innovation besides the new killer they release (and even that is bugged as hell and usually shares mechanics borrowed from other killers).
The lack of competition breeds complacency. Why put more effort in when there is no real alternative for your customers to go to.
-
Only time it is worth it is when a survivor is hooked in the basement. Trails in the shack can lead to multiple people being tormented if you 'proxy camp' - works best against altruistic survivors or SWF.
-
@Almo I implore you to make reasonable changes to PH.
The one common complaint is his ability to fake his M2 and hit you with his M1. This should be addressed - perhaps also make his M2 not as punishing so that players use it more often instead of having to fake it.
Neutering him would be horrible and will just make players pick up Freddy and Spirit instead. Both of whom I find 'boring' (even though they are more stronger) to play as or against.

That would mean not being able to run one of their crutch perks. That's clearly asking too much.
You know - that they actually have to put effort into their gameplay as a survivor.
This is actually a buff to the DS + Soul Guard combo also but of course they aren't going to mention that.

@Haselden said:
This perk combined with ruin or Devour hope literally is breaking games. They're to many hex totems to worry about now with undying, it should only reveal people near totems not buff other perks.
If its such an issue for you then maybe run small game, detective's hunch or a map to find the totems. You can run distortion for the aura reveal block I believe.

Not sure if this was a shadownerf or something he previously could do but his trails already disappear after one second if he tries to set them up around gens or in front of the exit gates.
What's the deal with that? Doesn't the killer already have enough problems with his slow and predictable ranged attack, why take this little bit of map control away from him?
There may be a case for stairs, but not objectives. He is in a good place already.
-
Ah the extra 'small PP' build.
Jokes aside, I feel soul guard is overkill. DS and UB are already good enough together.

This is a double standard a major one. If I were to say as a survivor main billy is op without playing him and not even playing killer in general I would be attacked. But I see people say slinger had counterplay then tell me they arent good st survivor and cant preform it themselves.
That's all I have to say just a double standard I noticed.
How many threads are you going to create moaning about DS,PH and Spirit? (You already have this still open.. Close this.)

@thesuicidefox said:
Okay, I'm honestly tired of seeing this phrase when people talk about anything. It comes up a lot as an argument against Spirit or Deathslinger.
Look at the end of the day every killer and tactic has counter play. There were legit like 5 things in this game ever to not have counter play. Old Legion was one of them. Infinite loops (as in double window at cow tree with no bloodlust and no entity blocker) had no counter play. Heck even in the current game, yes, some stuff has little to no counter play. Ebony Mori. Keys.
But dear Jebus, every time someone tried to argue for a change to a killer they always bring up "no counter play". "Bro there is nothing you can do, you just lose, just D/C already". That's basically what I hear.
Spirit has counter play. Deathslinger has counter play. Now I don't like Deathslinger either, I think it's just a lame experience to get speared with no real way to fight back after that point. But that doesn't mean there is 0 counter play. Even as someone that hates Slinger I can acknowledge that there are ways to avoid getting shot. Tall wall loops work good. Dropping the pallet early generally helps. Janky movement can make it harder for the killer.
Oh yea, and hiding works. It works against Spirit too. "Hiding isn't counter play". Uh yes, it actually is. A 110 killer doesn't have the time to thoroughly search an area. If you never get found you never get caught. I've won games against many killers (Slingers and Spirits included) by just hiding. Yea, it's not exactly an exciting experience. It's boring, ESPECIALLY for killers (I've had people hide on me and it sucks), and it's a bit of a cheesey tactic but it's still a legit tactic at the end of the day. Hide near a gen, keep tapping it, force the 110 killer to search everywhere for you and give up pressure on the rest of the map. If everyone is doing this they will have to commit at some point because this is a battle of attrition and they will lose.
And I get people don't like these killers, again I hate Slinger. But come up with some original arguments and stop parroting a buzzword you heard. It's getting ridiculous.
Its as if dead hard, sprint burst or spine chill don't exist.

Before crossplay, I used to have loads of fun with killer. I would have difficulty with the controls and the framerate and I would miss some attacks but the survivors I played against also had that problem so it evens out.
But ever since crossplay came out I found that I have been having less fun playing as killer. Sure, I have been playing against higher level survivors but I wouldn't mind that as because I enjoy a good challenge. However, the performance issues on Switch makes it hell to play against survivors with better framerate.
If they start moving side to side I find that it screws up my aiming so much that I miss hits due to the sensitivity and performance issues. There would be many times where I would swing, and then the survivor would move erratically, which causes my camera to shake and my swing to miss. It also doesn't help that survivors have a tendency to disappear when juking if they get too close, which the low framerate compounds. And then you add elements like corn and it becomes unbearable.
That isn't to say that I lose every match, and I know that I'm also facing other console players, but it feels like I have to put in so much effort and stress as killer as the missed attacks have a bigger effect than when I was facing only Switch players. I find myself playing survivor more as I actually enjoy the crossplay feature of that side.
Sorry for the ranty post because I just had a bad game but I want to know if other Switch and console players are experiencing the same frustrations as I am. Are you having the same trouble with missing attacks or am I just overreacting?
FPS issues on console since 4.10 have been really bad. I get aim dressing and strange whiffs even at close range too - Its not just you. There is a 22 page thread (BHVR, can we acknowledge fps on console is AWFUL since 4.1.0?) discussing this.
I haven't noticed any issues solely because of crossplay. I play on PS4 pro.

This video explains really well why people claim these killers have counterplay.
So according to Scott, Spirit and DS have no real counterplay. As the killer (DS/Spirit) has to make the mistake for the survivor to not get hit.
However at 3:55 onwards he says 'other half' of the killers require survivors to make mistakes.
Do you agree with this? Does that imply that people playing the 'other half' should think survivors are 'boring'?
Personally I don't like playing as DS or Spirit myself. Maybe if the remainder of the cast were a bit more stronger in chase then nerfs to DS/Spirit's chase potential would be fair.
-
FPS issues on console are really bad atm. Especially with certain killers.

In the 1000 hours I have played on pc I have had 2 games that I know were cheats. There just arent that many dude. "mods" on pc? You cant modify the game to get a huge advantage thats also bannable.
As people say turn it off if you dont like crossplay. Making "exclusive" crossplay an option is only gonna make you feel better, because I bet it will "bug" out and give you a ton of pc games still without you knowing it. In other words its most likely only gonna be asthetic and you will never know if it works as it should.
30 fps vs 60 fps. One feels a lot better but it doesnt play better. The "advantage" at best is very small.
Keyboard and mouse v controls. This one I get. But only for killers. Survivors is usually played as well if not better on a controller.
Spatial + stretched advantages. This can give an advantage but I would again argue its really small (at least with spatial, I dont get much if anything out of it). Stretched I have no idea how many people do this. I would argue few but have no idea.
As for optimization im assuming frame drops, lagging and the like. Yeah that one is a bummer and while it happens on pc its clearly not to the extent some people are claiming its happening on consoles (no one is making threads for pc). I would hope the graphical update includes optimization. But considering the devs dont tell us anything besides "we are aware and working on it" then I wouldnt hold my breath.
FPS issues on consoles are my biggest gripe to be honest. Killer feels horrendous since patch 4.10 - the devs have acknowledge this after a 9 page post.
Enjoying the crossplay survivor experience so far.

Short/Tall would actually mess with balance. That's why that isn't a thing.
How so?
They already have this for Killers (such as Plague and Freddy/Legion).
What benefit does a male survivor have if there is a balance? Because Iron Will exists so making less noise (not always the case as well) isn't a positive and no perk shrinks your frame.

If you are on Xbox you can also have Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic. Virtual Surround is not exclusive to PC. But the stretched res is technically an exploit, so it is frowned upon and viewed as a cheat, not a right for PC players.
I am on PS4. Interesting didn't know Xbox had this option.
To be honest the FPS is the main issue here. Since patch 4.10 the game has been a nightmare to play (especially as killer) - the thread with a response from a Dev has nearly 4k views and 250 replies which is a lot compared to the average showing how much of an issue its been.

You don't have to play against people from other platforms. You can opt-out of the crossplay feature if you go into settings and disable or enable cross-play platform play. This will match you up only with players from your platform, but that could in return increase your lobby time.
It's not exactly the answer you asked for, but that way you can remain on your platform specifically.
What people need to consider that is not just a mechanical (KB&M) advantage PC players have over consoles. Their version is far more optimized than console - a recent thread on FPS on consoles took 8 pages to get a Dev response so that they would just look at it.
They also have more tools to that give them an advantage in the game. Dowsey made a video a few months back - where you can enable spatial sounds (Windows Sonic) on windows 10 and gain a distinct advantage. Link below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLy4uwyQTpUThen you have players who play on stretched resolution on PC to gain an advantage. Adetha's video below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szAzuH1uLB8I am sure there are other tools that PC player may use. I am not against crossplay between consoles and PC - but they need to be on a near level playing field before you can do so.
It would be fair to have an option between consoles only available so that players can decide. Opting out of crossplay seems that your queue time may increase - as other console players may be matched instead with PC players (i.e. small matchmaking pool for platform only MM).

Ashy Slashy as the killer.
Seriously though, Evil Ash with a chainsaw would be lit.
-
P3 Ash main here - would love more cosmetics for him, though it would be down to licensing which I don't see happening.
I play him because of Bruce Campbell (Evil dead and Burn Notice) and he has done the voice acting for the in-game model.
Only thing he does need is Iron Will though. As he is loud AF when you play killer.

I think you'll find censorship is not something that is done on this forum - if posts are within the rules, they stay.
Thank you Mandy for the response. We are concerned because we haven't received a response from any of the devs for something that is seriously ruining the experience of console players - to the point where I don't feel like playing killer (in particular - though survivors are also affected) until this is resolved.

Hi @MandyTalk - is anyone going to address this? recent changes are making the console versions near unplayable.

Just revert whatever they did in the 4.10 patch. At least make it playable - I don't expect anything groundbreaking for this generation of consoles especially with next gen around the corner.

How many years before they 'fix' it and bring it back?

'Gen rushing doesn't exist' then neither does hook rushing (aka tunneling).

Something like that yes. Though ranks aren't considered in this MMR - so the rating equivalent basically (i.e. base rating has a higher floor).

They'll get around to us console plebs one day, I'm sure. But for now, repeatedly nerfing and unnerfing billy has to come first. It's just too important to worry about anything else.
Yeaah hopefully, with PS5 around the corner. It 'feels' like they have downed tools on the PS4 version.
Billy will remain as is it seems unfortunately. He was my first main too so I feel for those who main him now - though I don't know the extent in game (not numbers) as to how much this affects things.

Its (framerate - lag too) gotten worse on console recently. To the point that I get weird whiffs at close range or survivors vanish somehow plus aim dressing becomes really apparent when the survivor moves even a little to the side.

Unless you are at a very bad place (like one of those LT walls in the corner of the Swamp) you will probably reach a pallet before the Clown can get to you. Windows are not very safe against Clown, don't use them unless they are very safe.
So lets say you get hit by him and you sprint away to a safe pallet, he has nothing to do. He literally cannot do anything other than breaking the pallet. If you loop efficiently there won't be a problem.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1528444#Comment_1528444
The title is "Clown is a bit op?", is this really asking for advice or saying a killer is overpowered ?
Perhaps you should read the original post properly then. The poster only joined yesterday - you expect them to know all your terminology? or the strength of every killer in relation to one another.
Even then the title was phrased as a question not a statement.

I didn't mean to sound rude or disrespectful, I was just very curious why I was having so many issues with one killer in particular when i've been tunneled by Trappers and Face Camped by LF's and still gotten wins. I even had the unfortunate accident of feeding Myers into tier 3 thinking he was a glitched survivor and still gotten out with my whole team. I guess the fault lies in my inability to pallet drop properly?
You will find some people on this forum are quite divided and biased unfortunately. If you say anything about their preferred side then the pitchforks come out.
Best way to learn the game is to play both sides and pick up what you can from content creators. The game can be tough for new players as extensive training/induction doesn't really exist in this game.
-
Framerate on PS4 is so janky after the last patch. Sometimes they change things that are not on the patch notes - so I will need to test after I install.

Unfortunately I do not have him and since I just bought Spirit, I don't have the shards to buy him yet. But he's def next on the list.
No worries, he has one of the best killers perks (Pop goes the weasel). I would suggest Leatherface too (as he has BBQ and Chili which is a solid tracking perk that gives extra bloodpoints).
I also like the fact that you are assigning roles to your survivors.
-
I'm sure @SpaceCoconut called it in one of his videos.
The cooldown rarely occurred if you knew how to use him and the devs wouldn't want to waste all the 'hard work' they put into him.
I just wish they changed his addons only and spent the rest of the time fixing bugs and game issues.

You welcome.
Trust me, Clown is only very hard to deal with when you are not that experienced against him yet. Once you figure out how to deal with him, he is the most braindead killer to go against.
Here is also a video of a strong survivor who is getting chased by a Clown. Dont expect to be that good after you watched it, but see it as some inspiration.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZAx-nTWV8Y
And there is another one, educational stuff
This. Fungoose is a good educational content creator in general.
Also playing the killer (if you have him) is a good way to learn their strengths and weaknesses.
-
The person is asking how to 'get gud' perhaps be more constructive.
Even worse is people are upvoting your comment.
-
Time played needs to be factored in - new players shouldn't be matched with rank 1s on either side.
Ranks needs to be a sort of progression system with smaller rewards than the rift.
-
Depends on the SWF, not all are death squads. Generally more frustrating as killer to play against though.

The base MMR for killers needs to be raised if the player is skilled at playing killer (even if its one). So when switching killers you aren't playing rank 20s.
I am not sure whether time played is factored in or not. But if it isn't then it should be.
