Clown plays alot like doctor in chases. Though he lacks the detection. Main thing is unless you have the pinky finger dont aim for the survivor when throwing bottles. Use the bottles to either prevent a survivor from going a certain way, or at windows and pallets. When dlc hits, he wont slow down when bottle throwing. So if you are chasing someone you can throw the bottle in front of them and force them to slow down allowing quicker hits. A well placed bottle prevents fast vaults, lithe, sprint burst, balanced landing.
Clown is not a great killer but he can run around killing people as Santa clause or a fnaf reject.
I dont play him as much as i used to but he is still one of my favorite killers.
Freddy, screw snares use pallets. They are more fun if not as good. Trust me. Bring enduring, respect no pallets all game. Profit late game. Getting a hit through a fake pallet is one of then most satisfying feelings in the game.
-
May have something to do with killer being the only person on the team. Most online games are team vs team so the toxicity is spread out evenly. Here the survivors only have one person to mess with.
And yes killers can be toxic, its just not as apparent because there are so few of them in the game.

so GhostFace gets killed by huntress?
actually I forgot about Zarina, could be more fitting for the Reporter chick role than Jane.
i still don’t see the big booty Latina that’s basically a superstar as Final Girl material though
Yeah. Call it bias. Call it....well is it appropriate for a 45 year old married man to use the term bae? If so huntress is my bae lol.
And more bias, jane couldn't be last girl. Her voice goes through me like nails on a chalk board.
@Kebek said:
I think Kate would probably be the last, no real reason, just a gut feeling.
I can't see kate being last as usually the eye candy goes out first. Final girl is usually pretty but never the prettiest.

Jane is the Gale Weathers though: always nearby (big screentime), investigating for her story, at some point even suspected to be a killer, probably showing her empathy late and helping final girl and this may or may not get her killed.
I feel like jane and zarina would be in the woods doing a documentary and stumble across a massacre so decide to film the whole thing. Ghostface would play along. Huntress would come out of nowhere and kill everyone and the whole thing would be a found footage thriller.

Kate fits final girl better.
But Meg would work too, since she's the og.
Claudette is the scholar character, they die. Well... she and dwight both fit the character.
You know... thinking in a cabin in the woods kind of way 🤔
I wonder where people would fit best
- The #########
- The athlete
- The scholar
- The fool

The jerk? David
Athlete? Meg
Scholar? Claudette or zarina
Fool? Dwight or Ace
Virgin? Nea, claudette, zarina

All you can do is play them all. Some are easy to pick up and do ok with with. Others take some time investment.
I cant nurse. So i dont even try. But some of my favorites are bubba, pig, huntress, clown, and even legion geta played some. (Though legion mainly for the cosmetics)
I dont like billy or oni but they are good killers.
Its all up to you and how how you like to play. Even the worst killer is good in good hands

Pig's one is one of the few blindness addons I like. Ran it once with third seal and knockout just for fun and got a disconnect four (I wasn't even slugging that hard)
I did a blind slug build one time with old Freddy. Felt so bad i apologized to all of them after the game. Im on console so had to do it one by one lol
-
Hex: What the Hex?
Every time you hit a non obsession with any kind of attack, they become an obsession. You can be obsessed with 2/3/4 obsessions at the same time.
An obsession who rapidly buttdances becomes exposed until they are put in the dying state.
All obsessions are removed when an obsession gets hooked.
There is a 3/2/1 seconds cooldown on applying an obsession status.
If this hex is destroyed all obsessions lose 1 health state.
-
Blindness as a solo survivor is Sooooo much fun to go against. Not knowing when someone is coming to get you off the hook or where people are downed. Makes things more tense. I always run blindness traps on pig.
I agree they need to make changes to it.
Though personally, id love a third seal but for deafness. Like one of hags addons. Still hear music and TR and skillcheck prompts, but gen sounds, footsteps, killer noises like demo teleporting or Freddy blood from teleporting. Killet breaking noises. Even swf on comms would have a difficult time with it.

I mean I get it, but I don't. Why does it matter? If it helps to guarantee survival, which is the Survivor's main objective, why should they be persecuted for it?
That being said, my cousin plays as a Claudette because she relates to the character, being mixed ethnicity. Why should she have to wear the brightest clothing? It only makes them stick out, and that's kind of stupid and literally goes against their objective?
Play killer against a group of 4 blendettes on sanctum of wrath. Good luck.
I don't tunnel or bring moris when I see them. I may dodge a 4 claudette lobby. However, I'm not likely to let last one live if its a blendette. Also if 2 are left and I have decided to let one go I will 99% let there non claudette live.

So why do companies keep doing it, if indeed it always spells doom? Are you saying companies are intentionally burning their money on useless ventures?
How to answer this without the tinfoil hat?
Some have an agenda. Some are scared. Antarctic Press comic book companies. They are independant and agreed to publish a book by an author who criticized the direction of marvel and DC when they started hiring to fill quotas rather than for talent.
President of Antarctic Press started receiving death threats for agreeing to publish that author.
Cancel culture. Anyone who disagrees with the agenda, or fails to toe the line gets 'canceled'. Recently Drew Brees for proclaiming his love for the flag. Actor on the Flash got fired for 8 year old tweets. Tucker Carlson lost 2 major sponsors for disagreeing with BLM.
Long story short, despite the fact that many of the agenda driven products are not being consumed by the public, speaking out against it gets you in trouble.
This doesnt make much sense i dont think. I sometimes have problems explaining things. Just know, nothing i say comes from a place of hate.

Do you have any idea how much money Star Wars made at the box office?
Do you relaize that outside of rottin tomatoes the fans absolutely hated it? Why toys stopped selling. Why the disney park stuggled?
Look at marvel comic book sales. They are the definition of get woke go broke.

Yes, the curse of "only make over a billion dollars at the box office". Terrible, terrible curse.
You got captain marvel I'll give you that. But then look at what star wars has become. Batwoman and Supergirl on CW. 2016 Ghostbusters. Female oceans movie. New Charies angels. When i say 'get woke go broke' it encompasses all the Social Justice for no reason OTHER than Social Justice stuff.
-
Theres no problem with lgbtq characters. Hell i would argue that a select minority of the playerbase even cares about it. I would also argue that if they just put a gay character in the game, hardly anyone would have said a thing.
When they created the nurse or legion, there wasnt an announcement like hey look at us! We created a relationship to tell a story to flesh out and make the character interesting.
Want a gay character make a gay character. Why throw a billboard up? Theres no point except to pander to the 'woke' crowd.
Again, i don't care what they want to do as i could care less what people do with their own bodies. I just love this game and don't want to fail due to the all too common, 'Get woke, go broke' curse.
-
I may be biased but my mamacita would be able to use the environment to her advantage. She's a survivalist and would find a way. No one comes out of her woods.....unless im playing her. I suck.
-
To encourage team play, you need to make it a team game. Right now its 4 solos with a common objective not a team game. Theres no penalty for surviving players when someone dies. No reward for sacrificing yourself to help the team.
Devs have said its NOT designed to be a team game. And that's why organized teams do so much better. You are taking what is designed to be a solo game and breaking it.
-
Huntress is a beast. She took out trained soldiers pre entity. She isn't 50/50 she is 100% going to kick someones ass

Sorry i got defensive. I just feel like even though the killer should punish those sandbaggers, it isn't really his responsibility to do so.
Just tired of all these posts about how killers ruin the fun of the game, and then i play survivor and its the other survivors that piss me off more times than not. Your post just was unlucky enough to be the feather so to speak.
Hope you have an enjoyable journey in the fog

If you didnt ask for it why take advtange of it? Sound like you need a confidence boost in your killer skills if you really think you just have to snatch that person out the locker cause its easier for you. Can't be this hard for you guys to chase someone and hit them and then hook them. It just cant be lol. And my post should say WHAT THE HELL I WANT TO SAY. Because its my thread. And if i want to call out toxic survivors and craap killers in the same post I can do that. And you can comment or you can go about your day I dont really care but i said what i said and thats that.
First. I never said how I play that situation. In fact the 1 time it happened to me, i killed the sandbagger and left the other one alone. That being said, i did it because i play survivor too and i beleive in karma.
And you are right, your thread. I disagree with it. I spoke my mind. Sorry you and i dont see eye to eye on it
-
So you are mad at killers for taking advantage of a situation that they didn't ask for. Taking advantage of 50% of their prey in one spot wothout having to worry about perks or pallets or being looped.
Ok.
This thread should be.....
NO INTEGRITY
Survivors, why do you purposely lead killers to other survivors? Why do you intentiinally try to ruin the fun of the people you are supposed to be working with?
Seriously. Why is every fault in this game on survivor side, expressly the fault of the killer?
As survivor, the people who ruin my enjoyment of this game most is other survivors.
-
I usually say gg to the killer unless im morid off of first hook then i dont say anything. I apologize for the matchmaking.
As killer i usually let last person go if they dont wiggle. But i also never use really good add ons. For huntress i use the blind and hindered brown add ons. I have a bunch of them. I rarely go with anything over a yellow add on. Last time i used iri head. I only threw at injured people for most of the game. I lost lol.
Back on topic, i usually try to send gg's when i lose or if the game was really close
-
It really depends on the situation. With 4 gens left i chased someone around the perimeter of groaning storehouse. Was playing huntress amd they had sprintburst and i took a wrong turn. Finally m1'd them down and still had 4 gens left. I knew i had the time based on how they were playing. Not that im a good killer really.

Yeah the advice does sound odd. Since normally the issue you see with killers, is focusing two much on a single target. Which is why the advice to not commit to overlong chases is often given and learning to jiggle. That or not to chase a survivor to far, if they are going to a place where there are no gens.
Like to bring up ghostface, one thing that you will commonly see someone who has some skill with the killer, is 99% someone for later. Which sloppy is common on ghostface, so being able to jiggle and get people injured, can help to slow down the game a great deal, if the survivors are the type that like to heal up. Combine with nurse calling, another perk that is good on ghostface and other sneaky killers. Well, sneaking up on someone when they are out of position and have no idea you are right behind them is fun. That and generally having many survivors injured, leads to them being easy pickings to take down or just as said before, can help to slow down the game, for a fair number of survivors love to heal up and don't like to be injured. That or to use Oni, getting two early hits, thanks to the survivors grouping up, is a divine wind. For you will be able to get your power super early on and start snowballing.
Only killer that can really 'jiggle' is clown. Maybe plague but she would probably lose some parts.
-
I empathize with you but everytime your network goes out 4 other people are affected. They paid for the game also.
-
Aa far as strong survivor perks, they are hard countering pop goes the weasel in this chapter. The single best killer slowdown perk.
-
I used it for DS and soul survivor. I got DS early early on before i realized how much i hated it. Either way, lori is the only character i dont hve leveled to at least 40. And OoO is the only perk i dont have unlocked and never will.
I did buy some perks for blood points once. But thats it.

I know there will never be a perk to shield you from a determined Killer, however the existing iteration barely helps with tunneling is the issue. Effective doesn't mean extremely powerful. Imo the game should inherently discourage it by introducing a mechanic or significant emblem/BPS adjustments to make it less appealing. The Killer should have the freedom to tunnel but that choice should come at a price. The current price isn't enough of a determent, especially with DS working once but tunneling can occur twice.
And you're not saying anything new, all of those complaints are about placating The Killer and none address the other side of the equation. Even your last statement "anti-tunnel situations" is code for being useless. List your version of a DS that exclusively works for tunneling but nothing else. What does that look like? And are Killers really prepared for that? No, many just want to be able to tunnel more easily and freely.
For full disclosure, i started this game as a killer main. Last 6 months or so i statted favoring survivor as its just plain easier and less stressful. Im rank 4-5 survivor but would probably get higher if i played more than 4 or 5 games every other day. As killer i was rank 8 once and now sit between 10 and 12. I have about 1000 hours in the game.
I do not run DS as a rule, simply because i do not like it. However, i have realized the difference in games when an obsession is present compared to not. I have a whole thread about it and why i think DS is the strongest perk in the game. I do run sole survivor to ensure an obsession.
That out of the way.
I will admit to being somewhat killer biased, as that is the rolebi started with. I do my best to look at both sides when forming opinions. I feel i can do this as i do play both sides.
DS is not considered an anti tunnel perk by the Devs. Instead it gives blanket immunity from being placed back on a hook within 60 seconds. During which time a survivor can jump on a gen and nearly complete it. Cleanse 4 totems. Unhook every survivor 3 or so times. Fully heal with self-care under slippy butcher twice. Fully heal others 4 times under sloppy butcher. Now muliply that by 4 and the problem starts to emerge.
How i would see it being fair, is either
1) change timer to ~30 seconds. Timer pauses while in a chase. Any action other than healing deactivates the perk. Fully healing deactivates the perk. Can be used after both hooks.
Or
2) remove the ability to get up from dying state without another person. No unbreakable or no mither.
Again nothing is going to stop a killer from killing you if they want. The first change makes it an anti tunnel perk. The second removes a somewhat abusable perk interaction.
-
@Nicholas said:
@LordGlint I understand but this is all from The Killer's perspective. The issue with deactivation conditions is that they don't necessarily signify you're not being tunneled. I listed a few examples where you ARE being tunneled and how ineffectual DS is during those moments. Until I see a meaningful discussion about this from the Survivor's perspective, these conversations are a waste of time. How can we make the only Survivor perk that barely helps with being tunneled become even less effective and more favorable for The Killer? Is the question all of these topics aim to satisfy.
If a killer is intent on removing you from a game, there are no perks that will prevent it. Lengthen it, yes. But if a killer wants you, even if that killer loses the rest of the match, that killer will get you. If both skill levels are similar.
The problem many killers have with DS is that they get hit by it many times just for being too efficient. A 5 seconds stun can be huge in a time based game like this.
Most people arent forgetting that DS is still the best anti tunnel perk regardless of what the devs view it as. Most killers would be fine with DS that only worked for anti-tunnel situations.
-
I cant beat wraith for some reason. Theres killers i dislike more but wraiths make me want to go afk.
-
I dont know for sure. I only go for hatch if i stumble on it. I just know there was alot of threads about it not being 'fair' that killer had hatch priority.
-
Probably an intentional change
-
@Timeman63 the problem with OoO isnt necessarily the perk itself. Its the perk when used with the absolute strongest perk in the game, voice comms. A solo Object user is ok as you will always know where that player is and should you be able to create dead zones you can time it right when to go after them.
It is a strong perk, but not broken until you add voice comms.
I do however wish it worked more like getting a noise notification in the general area rather than aura. That would solve all the problems I think.
-
Ive always thought that legion was the perfect training killer. All his power does is make you run faster and learn to deal with 360s better. You must rely on map knowledge and tile knowledge. His power is so bad it actually increases your basic game skills.
-
@ALostPuppy said:
It's up there but DS isn't the strongest perk, that would go to Object of Obsession.
It literally breaks the game and gives the survivors an absurd amount of information. The drawback isn't even one because no good survivor is going to care if they get seen by the killer because they know how, and want to run one around. If you're not a stealth killer it's almost always a GG, and even then it's still a great perk because anyone with a brain and moderate game knowledge can triangulate a killers position when they see the perk lighting up.
I forgot about this one for a number of reasons. 1 is i never see it or use it. I dont have it unlocked and most likely never will. It isn't overly strong until you put it into an outside comm situation. Which is a different balancing discussion altogether.

DS is still far more situational than the perks I mentioned, they can be consistently used and can impact a game far more than DS, not to mention that it's not even easy to counter them (aside from BBQ, but the bloodpoint gain makes up for it), unlike with DS, where the killer can simply slug. I just find DS balanced, strong, but nothing compared to what it was or the perks I mentioned, and that's it.
I get what you are saying. The actual stunning effect isn't too powerful depending on location and point in the game. The reason i say it's strong is the effect it has on the killer. Just seeing an obsession changes how most killers play the game. Whether someone actually has the perk or even gets a chance to use it doesn't matter. The threat of the perk is there and most times needs to be respected. There are no other survivor perks that come close to doing that. As for killer, BBQ or discordance are the only ones i can think of that you need to be fearful of at the start of the match if you don't know the killer has it.
Blood warden and neod at the end of the game. Nothing i can think of throughout the game. That the game doesnt tell you the killer has.

Statistically speaking, the greater the disparity between K and S ranks, the more likely the Survivor is to escape (or not) depending on whether the difference is positive or negative.
So rank does mean something about your likelyhood to escape/die or allow escapes/get kills.
The above comment shall not be construed to mean that we think ranks are "just fine" as they are for matchmaking. MMR is on the way, and will be a better way of matchmaking. :)
Almo said rank is fine and mmr isnt going to mean a thing ;)

@Poweas said:
No, Sprint burst is by far the best perk atm, then you got Pop, Borrowed, Spine chill and BBQ.
DS is very easy to prevent.
So imo, DS isn't even on the same wavelength as those perks. I'd rank it more similarly to Lithe/DH, which are joint 6th (Lithe jumped up because the vault buff has made it really reliable), so imo, DS is 7th or arguably 6th, it's interchangeable.
Yes, I do think Dead Hard is overrated as hell.
I agree with dead hard. However, all the perks you mention are strong (except maybe BBQ which is great for blood points and meh for tracking. I would say thrilling tremors is a better tracking perk.) However, those perks hardly effect anyone but the person using them. Yes pop is strong very strong even. But, i just don't think it is as strong as DS.
Yes there are counters to DS, yet it is entirely possible to down 2 or 3 survivors, get hit by the DS and have the survivors completely recover.
End game by gates, DS has no counter at all.
-
@Sylorknag said:
I would say is second , close to DH, which in my opinion is the strongest perk.
Ds is somewhat counterablez while DH just fks you over everytime you win a mindgame and they press a button to rectify their mistake.
I would put DH 2nd as 1 survivor running it doesnt affect the rest of them. It also doesnt really work ojce the killer knows you have it.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/159307/is-ds-the-strongest-perk-in-the-game
Two things: I would not compare DS with NOED because NOED is much weaker and way easier to counter. And the devs basically said retrospective that they... don't know... don't think anymore it should be an anti tunneling perk? No idea about their intention, but on the Q&A stream there was a clear statement to the question why they added 60 second cooldown to DS, that they tested 2 minutes before and that resulted in scenes that did not fit anymore to the purpose of protecting from tunneling/farming. That is pretty much a confirmation that DS is an anti tunneling perk. Only counter was Peanits saying that they never said that except in the mentioned Q&A, but that stream doesn't really support his statement. They would need to admit somehow that they designed it as anti tunnel perk but are now changing their minds being fine with the offensive power that the perk actually has unintendedly.
Im in no way comparing the 2 other than they both have an effect on gameplay. Or in NOED's case it should but often doesn't.
Forgive me because i don't remember where but it was stated on these forums that DS is NOT intended as an anti-tunnel perk. It is in the eyes of the developers basically a 60 second styptic agent
-
@Dr_Loomis said:
I don't think perks which give the survivor a second chance make them candidates for the strongest perk.
DS, Dead Hard or Borrowed Time are handy, but sometimes they simply delay the inevitable.
I think Spine Chill is an extremely strong perk as you can flee and make a decision, knowingly the killer is coming for you.
OoO is also a strong perk, if the survivor knows how to troll with it. It can really swing an entire game if the killer takes the bait and the obsession doesn't get caught. Cause when they do, they're in for some smackery.
Yes, spine chill is absolutely amazing. My point isnt that the DS effect is OP. My point is that it effects the game just be being a perk. As long as there is an obsession, either because of a survivor perk or killer perk, it effects the whole game. Ive gone to using sole survivor as i play solo and dont like DS but want the obsession indicator.
Think of it like this. Killer doesnt want the stun. DS is POSSIBLY in play. Each survivor has 2 minutes of freedom to do whatever they want. Between all 4 survivors, thats 8 minutes or exactly 5 solo generators.
-
DS is arguably the single strongest perk in the game, even when there is an obsession and no one is actually running it.
Survivors got some decent perks, killers mostly trash perks.
Number of players is up thanks to covid quarantines.
Graphic updates look awesome if they stay that way when we get them. I'm a console peasant.

Keys are fine except for the finding them in chests mid game. Bring a key allows killer to decide how to handle it. Killler playing normally all of a sudden everyone is gone because rng is BS.
