If survivors get cocky and slip up because they think I'm a newbie that is their own fault. I'll feel no guilt over it as I wouldn't be playing any different. I don't get to choose the survivors I verse not the ranks that I am against.
If a killer sees a lobby full off default Claudettes and Neas he might decide to take off that Mori. They could turn out to be a Rank 1 SWF. It's the exact same thing. That would be the killer that gets punished for making an assumption based on appearances.
My, how manipulative, LOL. Weirdly amusing. I guess because I've not seen a killer take this approach yet, or at least admit to it. Survivors quite a bit though.
I'm fairly certain the majority only takes pity at the end game screen when they see a rank 17 with 1 perk. I've certainly gone easy on some survivors, but not killers when I've been in the survivor shoes. It's like a mouse taking pity on a cat.

BBQ is good as is. WGLF is a different story, but they've said they want to look at it, eventually.
-
Can confirm you can get the Deathgarden masks for free just by downloading it and cutting it on once for Steam. Did it about 3 months ago.
I'm probably one of the few, but I want the first rifts charms.

I don't think that's the case at all. I just leveled up Pyramid Head last night all the way to 50, and I'm currently sitting on 51 slices of cake!
Killers don't have any other event items, where as the rates for flashlights & med kits was increased for survivors and cakes reduced.
-
Bubba, Nurse, & Spirit are my top 3 hated killers. The first two because I hate playing them. I'm glad to see Bubba getting some love, but man Nurse could use something. I suppose she can remain the veteran's killer -- someone willing to put the effort into learning her, but it won't ever be me with how she is now. Top that with the fatigue that messes with my eyes.
Spirit when playing as a survivor and you know why. If they were going to go after any killer, you'd think it would be her.
I can't once remember complaining about Billy, besides the obvious "crap I was downed just now." And I complain a lot to my poor SWF husband.
Edit 10 minutes later~*: I completely forgot about Clown and if that doesn't say something idk what does.

I’m sure that if it’s less profitable to do it this way they’ll stop releasing sets. But the number of people I’ve seen running around with sets on tells me they won’t struggle to sell these skins.
Yeah but that's Cheryl. Her options are a set or green skirt + crop top. Legendary skins are a whole new character. So I get those purchases.
Nea? She has so many options already. I don't see the point in buying an un-customizeable set, that in fact looks pretty similar to her other spray paint outfit.

Greed since noone would really ever buy the whole set. They need their cosmetic money. Done dont even need a dev.
Idk how true that is, at least for me. I have gotten stuff from the rift and spent more just to match it to something I like. Same with when they gave us the event outfits. Directly bought Kate new pants. Plus I've mixed and matched new pieces with old stuff in the shop and bought them together. If anything, this is just less option.

I thought it was because of licensed issues soo didn't thought there was an issue, but original characters really?
They can say it's because of the hoodie or something but what about bunny feng? I don't believe this
I stared at it for a minute, and the excuse for this one could be that the shirt is tucked into the pants. If the design was for the hair to be half down, half cornrowed, then that too. Since they'd have to make it work with both the hoodie on and off, but of course they could've just made the hood detachable like Feng's, or change that hair idea. Same for the shirt, really. It's not like we're not use to crop tops.
I'm so glad they didn't make Feng's like this. I like putting her hoodie onto her other green jacket with flowers.
-
Yeah, I just went to take a peek at it, and am disappointed. It's a pretty skin, but do we really have to make everything linked now? I like customizing my own look. I figured maybe Konami had done the thing with those Cheryl green rarity skins. I'm starting to think not.

-
Yep. Agreed. As I said in another thread, they broke the cakes. Told people to feel free to "abuse" them. Fixed the cakes. And reduced the cakes. It's shady. On top of that it took over a week. So lots of people did use their cakes, thinking they could get lots more. Luckily I sat on mine. Then they didn't add it to the patch notes, because they knew if they did they'd get a lot more complaints I bet.
Meh.

i'm gonna be spit for what i'm saying but i love playing against nurse and spirit.. and i'm not afraid or have any problem with any killer but with ds.. This doesn't mean i NEVER die, it's the opposite, i die very often BUT that's because i'm bad, not because the killer is too strong. I know where my mistakes are and i'm trying to work on them, but with ds i really don't feel the same... like if i had a video of me playing any killer vs me playing ds, you'd really see the difference. Like i tried every tip people gave me, but it always end up the same: I try to wiggle> get hit> i waste a pallet get brute forced and get downed... This is why i believe it's not entirely my fault, but it comes a little bit from him too
Yeah Spirit is a problem zone for me, because it feels like nothing but a guessing game, but I love a good Nurse. When you die to Nurse, you know it's just because she's a damn good Nurse! Takes a lot of practice that one.
Perhaps that's something you could do though. Post some videos and ask for advice about what you're doing wrong. You could try some of the Twitch streamer's Discord servers. People are usually happy to give pointers.

You may have no problems, that doesn't mean everybody hasn't. i get your point, but it's really situational and 75% times in its favour.
Oh no, I agree its subjective. For instance, Ghost Face has made me jump out of my seat more times than I care to admit, lol. Who we're good or bad against depends on our skills. That's why I gave my advice on how I handle him, because to me he seems pretty simple. I'd have to argue about how many people I see lose to him though. It's not a small amount but I'd say he probably averages 2 kills.
Tbh I dread when I go to learn him. I might actually be good at him because I can handle him so well, but I think it's just because he's mid-tier.
-
I'm just gonna be short & sweet: No. I play solo a lot at rank 1, & Deathslinger is one of the few killers I don't really fear. Weaving is a great tactic against him. Find objects to put between him, his shot, and yourself. Any skill that gives a burst of movement to put distance between you really puts the sting on him.
-
When gens seem to fly too fast, focusing on a three gen works. Letting some gens go in favor of protecting an area has won me the game a few times now. Though I don't think you're interested in strategy tips, because you've been given some good ones here.
I know the feeling, though I've not quite had your situation because as others pointed out, it seemed easy to turn in your favor. I have had groups though who basically body block me playing ring-around-the-rosie. I've had that OoO who is waving at me to come get her while her buddies all brought brand new parts. Most recently, I had two annoying default Jane friends with BT, DS, Head On, & flashlights. I couldn't find the other two, I just kept running into these jerks. It felt really good when the other two randos got the door open, left them, one Jane's head popped, and I closed the hatch on the other. If I had quit though because initially I felt like I was losing, that end game wouldn't have happened.
So I agree. A bully SWF squad, especially a true 4 man, often results in a loss. Survivors have the power role when they have open communication. With solos it's like, 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1. You really feel that 4 v 1 with a SWF. I'd like all of the survivors to be truly scared of the killer, because the killer should be the power role. However, it would be bad for the game to remove SWF, so BHVR never will. I wouldn't want them to either, as I play with my husband. Yet, if they buff the killer in favor of SWF (which they say is less of than solo players), then solo players suffer, and people would quit. I don't think there's a lot they can do. So it's on killers to sweat, use good perks, and strategize. Then still lose sometimes.
-
That feeling when you play both sides but the game wants to give you killer challenges for killers you haven't leveled or really suck at (I will never do a Nurse chall, BHVR.)
BHVR should consider giving challs for the side someone is more likely to play, because I don't feel it actually encourages most to switch around. I had focused on leveling all of the survivors to 40 first before I ever touched killers, and every time I got a killer chall I just rolled my eyes. However, I never got 13 days in a row of killer challs... That's some bad RNG.

Crossplay is already in the game, it's just not activated. Hackers can activate it, and get into console games. For some reason hacking isn't addressed on these forums nearly as much as Reddit, but if you head over there you can find some similar incidents.

I think they just switched them around so the cakes are now rare while the items are common. I've been getting both event items in almost every blood web recently while the cakes are a bit rarer now and take two or three webs sometimes.
Yeah but I could honestly care less about a fancy flashlight or med kit when I have a lot of leveling to do still, because they refuse to address the new player grind that only continues to increase with each chapter release. And as my first true event here (unless you count the corona induced blood hunt) -- it's not giving me a good outlook. The fact that they didn't even put it in the patch notes too? Ehhhh. I won't hold my breath for future events.
-
So lemme get this straight. You broke the cakes. You encourage people to "abuse" the 140% bug, because hey once it's fixed they can get more cakes. You fix the cakes. And then you decrease the chances for cakes?
That's so shady and disappointing.
-
I say this seriously: Go play Stardew Valley. You would not believe the amount of people who claim that game helped them in some way. Myself included.
DBD is the polar opposite. I appreciate it for that. It's exciting but stressful. I'd never recommend it to someone who is dealing with a lot of stress already.
This game probs just isn't for you, and that's okay. Accept the loss of money, or just play it once in a while. I have a library full of games I use to like and no longer play, either because I got tired of them, beat them, or found something new. It comes with the territory of investing in games.
-
Longer gen times or a secondary mandatory objective (not elective like totems) would be my first vote. With an efficient team, 2 gens can fly during the first chase. It's not always like that of course, but when it is, the only thing I've found I can do is go from gen to gen, with hopefully good placements.
-
I'm rank 10 again from crown farming, and earlier I got a match against a SWF of 1, 3, 3, & 15. When it was cancelled and they were apologizing for their buddy DCing I was just like "Yeeeeeeeeah, I'm fine with this." There's a lot of people cheesing the current system by bringing a low rank buddy.
Although I will never forget being rank 20 and having my first match be a rainbow. They all apologized to my 1 perk no clue arse. It's not like that was their fault.
I'm curious to see what MMR will do, but I'm pretty sure I was in some of the testing for EST a week or two ago. It was not good, lol. I had match after match after match of swat teams. I wonder if something was basing it off my survivor rank (usually 1 or 2) with my killer (highest I've obtained was 8.) I think I was a rank 12ish killer then.
-
I instantly filled in the gap with "But when I do, I have a Dos Equis."
Seriously though, the higher ranked you get playing survivor, the less face camping you'll come across. Ranks 20-10 it's almost a given every other match there's gonna be a Bubba leveling his BBQ & Chili with a fondness for faces. Proxy camping & tunneling stays the norm, but you can work around it. Getting good at looping and juking is your best bet. Skills like borrowed time, deliverance, DS, unbreakable, soul guard. And sometimes, you just need to blend. Don't wear neon pink. It's funny how a lot of these things are hated by the killer side, but there's good reason for them. Playing both sides regularly helps with perspective.
-
"yOu sTill geT Bp"
Not as much as even just one other person stacking them. Make it all 5 offerings and it's a boatload. The window in which people would spam them is mostly over. I'm sure some will once they are fixed, but I guarantee not as many. At this point I'll probably save what I've gotten for a blood hunt.
Between matches with a lot of hackers lately, not being crazy about the crowns, and the cakes which are the main draw of the event being bugged, this event was a let down. It shouldn't have taken this long to fix.
-
@Belzher said:
I find a lot of hackers by just watching streams (like Otz and Hexy) and yeah, kinda sad that we have to deal with this.
I seen the occasional streamer run across a hacker or two. I also suspect I had one previous to this event. However since it started, it's like every time I play alone, my very first match of the night is with one.
In fact I watched Otz for about 20 minutes today and he suspected one in a match he was in. I forgot about that.

I let people go during the event when I was getting my crowns. Once I got them all though then I went back to playing normally.
And I think that's part of the problem. It's so easy to get the crowns on Killer. It took me 3 and a half hours total. During that time I happily let people escape, farm, goof around, what have you. Afterwards I just wanted to go back to playing killer normally. It only stays entertaining while you get something out of it.
I still have 5 survivors to go but I haven't been able to play as much the last few days. I'd say for the ones I've gotten maybe 5-6 hours total. I have met a lot of nice killers, but of course there's plenty who don't care.

Happened to me as well, i was playing survivor and as soon as the endgame timer started everyone died due to the entity, neither the time to leave.
Hacking has been increasing a lot lately. Ran into my own a few days ago (mild though, they were trying to be sneaky about walking through walls and teleporting away at least) and I've seen a bunch of videos popping up on Reddit. Same stuff OP claimed and more.

If you used the gateua while the bug was on then its your fault, if you dont then you have a bunch stored. So you didnt lost "millions" bp. You are literally gaining whatever bp they reward you.
They didn't announce it in game for 2 days though. So unless you follow some form of social media for DBD, you wouldn't have found out what exactly was wrong if you noticed. In fact, they announced it in game now, and people are still coming here to ask what's wrong with it.
-
I actually think you should worry and submit a ticket to their support system. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us
Let them know the survivors accused you of hacking, and you are worried they may have submitted a false report against you. Because someone was hacking in that game, and because of the bug they have a bit of reason to think so since they evidently don't know about it. Give them the Steam ID of each one if you can and any screenshots / video evidence you might have. Always report via the end game as well if you didn't.

No, not yet. I meant back with the daily login last week. Some people got 50,000 and some 100,000
The speculation was that it was due to them not logging in every day, so the bonuses stacked, or so I read.
500k-1mil. 🧐 Yes that may seem greedy, but when playing killer with regular gains I can make 500k in 3-4 hours or so. Survivor about 300k. So with what I'm missing from literal days of the event not working, it seems to be rather significant. Not that I'm actually complaining, it's a free event. They owe us nothing if we're honest. To me 500k+ is a good make up point though.
-
I bought it so every time I have a Cheryl party I can be the ugly step sister.

Inner Strength is my staple perk if I have any. Once in a while I get a match of totem breaking maniacs (which is not a bad thing!) but it's rare. I'd say I get use out of it in 2/3'rds of my games.

Yeah I get that a lot too. They're a bag of [REDACTED.]
You know what would be nice? If BHVR gave the survivors some other objective besides gens, or increased gen time. My last 3 games all ended in escapes. And then people wonder why killers tunnel -- a lot of times it's smart to eliminate someone quick.
-
Yeah, I won a Myers game earlier because of this!
I found three survivors at the kill shack on Yakamoto (sp?). I stood at the window, and stalked them until I was tier two. Two of them scattered to each side of the shack, while one sitting directly in front of me continued to work on the gen. Easiest tier three ever.
I went for the one in the shack, chased her out, but seen scratch marks near by behind a tree. Found a Meg. Downed her and hooked her. Nancy runs up for the save while I'm there and still in tier three. Easiest down ever.* Tier three ends, Cheryl tried to block me, hit her, she scatters, hooked Nancy. Go back to hooked Meg, see Jeff pulling her off. Tried to go after Jeff, but found Meg instead. Cheryl tried to block me again, but she never healed, so downed her, and hooked Meg again. Meg suicides, and I take Cheryl to a hook. See Nancy near by, she never healed, down and hook her. She suicides. Jeff and Cheryl run right up to me to die, lol.
-
Nah, I play both sides. Survivor is a lot more fun because the odds are in your favor. Your team has to make mistakes to lose. Killers often have to run certain perks just to have 2 gens not pop within the first minute or two. 4v1 becomes a lot harder too depending on how many in that 4 have a line of communication outside of the game open.

@shanny_boi said:
You forgot to say "Thank you for coming to my Ted-Talk." Lol but that's beside the point.
I definitely agree with all that you're saying, especially with the Operation Health and Rework. The way I see it, the problems stem from BHVR's greed to constantly put out chapter after chapter to maintain a constant influx of revenue. If they were to sacrifice one or two chapters to focus on other issues within the game like bugs and imbalances, then those issues would get fixed.
I would also like to add one more problem to your list:
Content creators within the DBD community influence players to buy the DLCs every time a new one is released. Otzvarda and Truetalent, for example, are Fog Whisperers so BHVR provides them with special benefits. This results in them rarely criticizing BHVR for anything as they want to maintain those benefits. If the people watching these influencers are being told that the game is fine, they'll most likely believe it. Content creators have a huge impact.
I love this game. But I want it to be better.
I've seen Tru3 criticize them a lot, and I probably only watch him about once or twice a week if I'm at my comp that time of day. Hes said many times the game is imbalanced and because of that doesn't believe it can be competitive. I've also heard him go on about survivor "second chance perks" almost every stream. He's brutal during the Q&A viewings.
Otz, I watch a lot more, but I don't hear him complain often. He's in the mind set the game is competitive, since he talks about being in past* tournaments. I'm pretty sure if he found something wrong though, he'd say so. Seems like a chill but upfront sort imo. Actually, I know he's said many times moris, keys, and NOED are imbalanced.
-
Grats. It does feel good when you start to learn!
-
I think the devs do alright in the communication department, usually. I didn't like how they handled the Ghastly Gateau because the initial announcement its bugged was a foot note on Twitter. Otherwise, you can find them talking there, here on the forums, Discord, & Twitch. Compared to a lot of devs, that's a load of communication. Most I've seen just stick to their respective forums, and any other sort of social media is used for announcements.
Developers have to be careful about taking community feedback. There have been games in the past where they listened to the small majority on their forums, and it caused the majority playing the game to quit. Reaching out through the game directly as they've done with the surveys is the best way to hear the true majority.
I agree about the bugs and priorities though. There's just so many bugs you can find in a single play session it's ridiculous. The Ghastly Gateau should have been announced to be bugged in game, or disabled so people would stop wasting them. I know programming can be difficult but it's hard for me to believe this isn't something they could've patched easily. I keep hearing people say "Why didn't they copy paste last years offering and change it from 103% to 104%?"
On toxic players, well... This game kind of breeds it. If you only focus on one side, you have a very difficult time seeing why another side would play the way they do. That's what I think of when I hear toxic anyway. DCing is just abusing the system. Report functions need an overhaul as it's extremely convoluted right now. The only time I ever opened a ticket, I discovered because I hadn't jotted down this person's Steam ID (which is bugged atm btw! So you can't right now) they probably wouldn't do anything. With cases of hacking you need video evidence, so that's forcing you to record every game, and hacking has increased recently. You also need to report them end game. Then you need your own pretty long DBD number. And for all that, you never know if anything gets done.

She doesn't have 'the mind of a child,' her lore doesn't say she has any sort of intellectual disability like that, only that she is more animalistic from growing up alone without socialisation. She raised herself and is an adult and behaves as such with maternal instincts trying to find a daughter, her mind didn't hit pause just because her parents died.
Look into the effects of social isolation (not the kind where people just reject you, the kind where you're 100% alone) and children who were raised by animals or just on their own. Animalistic for humans is almost never growing up -- you don't develop any social thinking and run fully on instinct. Some can never even learn to speak. And yes, animals have innate maternal instinct. Due to what she does with the children and how she acquires them however, points to something being defunct in her mind. Even a cat can grow fond of say a puppy and not hurt it while doing the few weeks it would take to nurse it. Huntress just starves them to death.

Since they're working from home, it really shouldn't be a problem to fix it over the weekend. It's a shame they've let their event stay broken.
